Excellent teacher! Gives a variety of topics for her students to choose from. Also, if the lesson plan for the day is boring and previously understood by the majority, she won't hesitate to let class out. JUST DON'T USE "YOU" IN HER ESSAYS! : )

She is a good teacher. Although she may be a little boring at times, her tests are easy and she is the easiest literature teacher I have taken. Just be sure to listen and pay attention. You don't have to read in this class, just take good notes and look them over well before the tests!! Have fun!

Altogether it was very easy class. If you can read a story, no matter how dry and boring, and regurgitate it than you will do splendidly. Lots of reading so be prepared. She comes across a bit? blond at times, but she keeps you entertained. I would recommend taking her.

I must say one of the hardest teachers i have had at JSU. She is very sweet and has a upbeat personality. She is just VERY VERY strict on her assignments.

She grades speeches strictly. But she does give good feedback explaining what she wants. Also she is very willing to help you and answer any questions about speeches. She takes her job seriously so her classes aren't the easiest, but I feel like I have learned a lot.

Great professor...she gives a ton of work though, especially in hybrid class. She's extremely helpful. She really cares about you as a student. You have to know everything in the book very well in order to do good on her short story/play/poem tests.

Mrs. Burns makes English fun, even though you are required to write 7 essays during the semester. The good news is that even though you have the essays, you don't have actual tests. She's a tough grader, but it's to benefit you when it comes time to take the ECE. All in all, the class is a piece of cake & I would take her again.

Mrs. Burns was the best possible choice for my Oral Communications class. I was concerned about having to present, but she grades leniently as long as you try. She's understanding if you goof up and isn't harsh with criticisms. You'll really only need the book for quizzes at the beginning, so I suggest sharing with someone. She's a great teacher.

Mrs. Burns is the nicest teacher you will ever meet. Just do exactly what she asks (which is not super demanding) and you will do fine. I made an A+ with her on EH 101, 102, and 141. Potentially one of my favorite teachers ever!

I would recommend that anyone take her, if you complete the assignments before class and listen to her lecture then you should be able to do well on the test. She's a very sweet lady, and doesn't mind if you walk into class a few minutes late. She does talk a lot, and rambles at times, but she's a great teacher.

Nicest lady in the world and always willing to help with questions. Reading before every class, but usually short (5 to 10 pages). Simple assignments and tests are easy if you go to class and do the reading. Study guides are very accurate for the tests.

I took Mrs. Burns for American Literature and it was a fun experience! She thrives on feedback from her students. We did a lot of group discussions in class and homework online. I love christy as my English teacher shes very nice and sweet and genuinely cares about her students and there grade. There are a total of 7 essays as test grade. Gives extra credit assignments. I passed with an B+.

She has a sweet personality but when it comes to grading she is a very hard grader and she is not very helpful she just gives you instructions and expects you to figure it out on your own or refer you to the writing clinic

You have an assignment every Monday and Wednesday on the reading and a small assignment on Friday. Its not too bad. Its a pretty easy A. Just be explanatory and colorful in your responses with a little bit of added insight. She is very passionate about what she teaches. She can be captivating in her explanations even if the reading hw is confusing.

A wonderful professor! She is kind to her students and is very non-judgmental. She does her best to be sure that her students succeed. I would say that she definitely does what she can to make a speech class more bearable. If you have the opportunity to have her as a professor, I strongly suggest you take it.

You must do the homework or you will not pass, and there is a ton of it. If you skip class you lose 8 points for that day. It adds up very fast. Do the work and it's an easy A.

I absolutely adore Mrs. Burns. She is super sweet and you can tell she loves her job. I only had her for an STU101 class and I really wish I could have snagged her for my EH102 class but she filled up QUICK. She's great and honestly doesn't have a mean bone in her body. Very positive about any situation and deadlines were always pushed back!

Easiest class I have taken at the school. She is a very easy grader, only two easy assignments per week, and her lectures ALWAYS have the answers to the quizzes. She does not subtract points for late work, and she is very helpful. TAKE HER CLASS for an easy GPA booster.

Christy Burns is a great professor. There are 2-3 quizzes a week and all have two attempts (average grade of the attempts). The answers are in her lectures or easy to find in the literature. There are a couple of tests and discussion boards but nothing difficult at all. Super easy class!

This class was so enjoyable. The pieces of literature were interesting and kept a nice pace for the course. If you cannont pass this class with an A then you simply did not try. Weekly check-ins helps this course stay on track.

Not a hard class at all. As long as you watch lecture videos and read assigned readings, the quizzes are super easy. You can also find readings online if you don't get the textbook and she gives advice on that if needed. She also provides lots of opportunities for extra credit. Great teacher and makes every way possible for you to make an A.

I really really liked her. I absolutely hate English classes and every single aspect of it, but she made the class bearable just by the way she ran it. She was always happy and approachable for questions and very willing to make accommodations when life happens and takes feedback from students. Overall one of my favorite professors.

I took Professor Burns's American Lit 2 class; it was a hybrid class. We didn't attend class on Tuesdays but would have a hybrid assignment, typically did a quiz and discussion board. When we came to class on Thursday's she did a PowerPoint lecture about the books/poems we read, followed by a class discussion and group activity. Loved this class!

Mrs. Burns was a great literature teacher! She was so caring and always gave you opportunities for extra credit. There were two quizzes for every unit and there were 14 units. The quizzes were easy and she gave you direct video lectures that gave you most of the answers you'd need. She also gives online students more time on the final and midterm!

Mrs. Christy Burns is a gem. She is a true teacher who plans her lessons so well and anticipates your needs. The quizzes, for example, actually test what she has lectured on, setting you up for maximum success. Her video lectures are so on point and clear! She is the one you want to take for 201.

Mrs. Burns is a nice lady who provides multiple extra credit opportunities. Videos are amazing. Quizzes are somewhat difficult. She makes the questions, so don't bother with ChatGBT. Only complaint is sometimes she has trick questions on her quizzes. She also says things in the videos sometimes that are incorrect compared to the textbook.
