Christy is an awesome teacher. She gives printouts of her notes and is very organized. She wants you to succeed. Her tests aren't easy-it IS Algebra, but she gives a lot of partial credit, and is clear with her instructions. She lets you come in early when possible on test days to allow extra test time. If you can take her, I strongly recommend!
christy is an awesome teacher!! i failed this class before and have understood more from her now than ever before!! i recommend her to all my friends! :)
Awesome teacher! She uses a systematic approach to teaching. Great presentation skills using color coding on the white board highlighting steps. Gives out custom made handouts for notes. Very good at patiently answering questions. Her tests are not easy, however, if you do the homework and attend all classes you will do well ?YEAH MATH!
She was a great teacher. I would recommend her.
Has a great personality. Lessons are extremely clear and color coded! takes time to answer questions completely offering different approaches to clarify any loose ends. This professor could teach math to a rock.
Took Intermediate Algebra with her, she was an amazing prof. Clear, detailed instructions on how to do a problem step by step on the board, uses different colors to pop out important steps and easier ways to find answers. Do as she does and STUDY HARD, her tests aren't ALL that easy. If you study the night before and refresh the day of, just maybe.
Great Professor. This was a distance learning class and I struggle with math however, any questions I had she was so quick to respond and very helpful. I would recommend her!
She is very clear with her teaching. The printed home work and tests do not have clear directions though. She is very helpful and even humorous. There are quizzes the first day of each week in her class so be prepared. She even asks for you to memorize definitions for the quizzes but never for the test. I highly recommend taking her class.
She's a very nice person BUT: My biggest complaint is that she gives homework only through MyMathLab, there's no review sessions before tests, and the homework is so easy, it's really easy to know NOTHING going into taking the test. I'm retaking the course next semester b/c I really didn't mesh well with her teaching style.
Great teacher and willing to help. Lots of homework. : (
I had taken college algebra twice before taking it with this professor and ended up dropping the class because I just wasn't understanding anything. She made everything seem so easy. She prints out a handout for each section and is very organized with what she writes on the white board. I never thought I could make an A in this class. She's awesome
This was an online course and as such was largely taught by the My Mathlab software but she was quite helpful with questions and always added comments on what I did well as well as how I went wrong. I had a real mental block with Algebra going in but succeeded well with her help. Lots of homework but hey.. this Algebra.. What did you expect?
Very methodical in her work and is always willing to take time to help someone understand something. There are some written homeworks due usually every week, I think somewhere around 10 or 12. All the other homework is online. Made an A in her class, just do the homework, do the reviews and ask questions if you don't understand. She rocks overall!
Great DL teacher. She's responsive and explains well over email. Lots and lots of homework, but that goes without saying in math. You can get by without the book and just use the MyMathLab and Google. I never touched my book once.
This professor is extremely organized and responds very quickly to questions/emails. Always offered great explanations for the problems I had trouble with. This is someone who really cares about her students and has a natural love of teaching. You need the Textbook & MyMathLab. I used both heavily!
DL Course intermediate algebra. Weekly homework done online with MyMathLab. Problems can be worked until you get 100%. Weekly quizes online, up to 3 attempts each. Written homework once a week and scanned to BB. Tests in testing center. She gives written test review if you study that you will do well on test. Very organized and easy to follow.
Professor Dittmar is awesome! Always very willing to help and answers questions in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend her!
As long as you show up to class and follow her notes you'll be able to pass. She goes through step-by-step and it makes it MUCH easier. Plus - she's really nice if you do get nervous about grades.
Professor Dittmar is very sweet, but this class is hard. She doesn't offer extra-credit; however, the final counts as its own grade, while replacing your lowest test grade.
BEST MATH TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD
She is super organized and it really helps to understand the subjects better. She uploads the notes on her webpage so you won't get behind if you miss class or just in case you want to check something. She assigns a lot of homework, but they are really helpful to be better prepared for tests. No quizzes! (:
AMAZING professor. Dittmar makes math easy to digest. She is INCREDIBLY clear and explains the concepts. She will make sure you get it. Absolutely take her class.
She gives way too much Homework. This class had lots of material packed into it with a software program called"mini tab" to learn. I could not learn by the teaching style she used and her test were tough. Just as I thought I was getting the material, I found out that I thought wrong. If I must take this course again, I will not be taking her again.
Second time taking this class and I can't believe how easy it was! No surprises on tests. Homework problems from the book were sometimes a little confusing, but still helpful, and grading was lenient. Some test questions came straight from the homework.
So far, everything is laid out for you and really straight-forward. Tons of stuff posted online. I love this class!
Prof Dittmar is a great teacher, especially for those who don't typically do well in math. The course is very well organized. She prints notes for the class to follow along with as she goes through the material, followed by some homework. Nothing unexpected, with opportunity to complete a project for extra credit. Would take any of her math classes
Professor Dittmar really knows her stuff. As long as you come to class and take notes on the handouts she gives you, you should get an A in the class. She is very clear and willing to take as much time as necessary to make sure that you understand everything and have your questions answered. She's one of the best professors I've ever had!
Prof. Dittmar is one of the best math professors i've ever had. I was dreading statistics from the very start of this year but she made it so much better. She is NOT easy and you have to work for your grade, but she is ALWAYS there to answer your questions and/or help you figure out what you're not understanding. Would DEFINITELY take again
Wonderful class. A great teacher. She makes the content very clear and explains everything. I left the class with a positive attitude towards math and a great understanding of the subject. I recommend her to everyone.
this class required a lot of effort. I got an A but I definitely had to work for it. there's a lot of homework but it's helpful and she's a very lenient grader. amazing teacher, great at explaining concepts. as long as you pay attention, do your work, ilmand study for the tests you should be fine.
I loved her! Take it from me, someone who is AWFUL at math, and still enjoyed statistics. She is very organized and amazing at teaching. I got a B, but was quite sick throughout first semester and she was flexible with me. She is a sweetheart and always willing to help. Wish I could take her for more math courses!
Prof. Dittmar lectures through worksheets and requries weekly homework. Kept me on track. Exams are difficult, but she is fair.
Had I known betore that the class is mostly all online (she uses Google Classroom, Blackboard, and Launchpad), I probably would've ditched, but she's great. Makes note packets that will help you understand the work and how to do it on both Crunch It and Minitab. Very understanding and sweet professor
Dittmar was a good professor, she gave us reviews but there was no extra credit. The final will replace the lowest test grade if you do better. Overall tough class because it was calculus but she made it pretty easy.
Professor Dittmar knows the material very well, however, she is very slow in presenting it. Lectures are her going over her notes packet and filling it in as class goes along. Doesn't take time to make sure others in class get the material, but she is quick to respond to emails if you need any help. No textbook, but Launchpad is required.
Super smart and helpful. Always replies instantly to emails if not sooner. So confused every time I missed class but so clear when I'm there.
For someone who has always struggled with math , Dittmars online course was a good option for me. Many resources online, instant feedback on online homework/quizzes, quick response on written homework and some flexibility to work at my own pace. Grading criteria was absolutely clear. Not an easy class. Lots of homework and study.
For Dittmar's lectures all she does is hand out a packet at the start of the unit then she just works through the problems during the 1 1/2 hr class. When ever someone asks a question, she vaguely answers and moves on without really addressing the answer. I struggle a lot with math and I feel that she did not help me understand at all.
Love the handouts! So organized. So helpful.
Offered no extra credit for struggling students. She is not an easy grader. I disliked how the class was structured with 80% online homework and only 20% written, yet all tests were 100% handwritten, making it very difficult to get practice. Test reviews are also extremely long, drawn out and unnecessary with short 10 question tests.
The best! She could teach math to a scarecrow. Look at her notes they tell a story. STUDY HARD, you need to but hey, it IS algebra, right!
I took College Algebra with her and she's amazing. She's the best online professor that I have had thus far. Shes very responsive and organized.
Amazing prof!! Christina really has a gift for making complicated things simple. I wish she was teaching Trig!
Christy is the best. It was my second time taking Stat and she was so unbelievably organized it really helped. Not like my last teacher. Notes were enough to do homework. Homework and reviews really helped for tests. Questions were clearly worded. Class was pretty fun. Take her you won't regret it!
No extra credit. Easy test if you do review. Nice woman. Make sure you get the 100 on your math lab and show up so she knows you put in effort. Nice lady and good at teaching. Test have 10 questions so it will make or break you. Im not good at math and made an A in this course bc I did the reviews and my homework though
Homework is re-doable for full credit and you can take the quizzes up to 3 times (online). I only needed to contact her one or two times throughout the semester and she was very helpful and responsive. I accidentally missed a test deadline once, but emailed her and she let me take it late. Gives good feedback on written homework and tests.
All of the praise here is not enough. College Algebra was truly magical.
Professor Dittmar leaves limited feedback, but the grading is straightforward and as long as you're putting in the effort, you'll get by. I only had to email her a few times, but she is fairly prompt to respond.
The way this professor organized this course online was very well! It was clear what needed to be done and she is always there to help you if you need. There is absolutely no reason for you to fail this class as long as you do your work and prepare well for the exams. Even for someone like me who is terrible at math!
I am currently taking the co-requisite dev math along with elementary stats. As a student who has completely failed in the math department, and is extremely scared of math, I am doing well, and on my way towards a B. She is clear, extremely organized and gives you all the tools to succeed. Couldn't have done this without this caring professor.
Gives no extra credit opportunities. If you aren't good at math she is not the prof for you, she is not sympathetic to struggling students whatsoever. Her grading criteria is extremely clear and she is really good about responding to emails. Great professor if you are a student that doesn't need much help outside of class or if excel at math.
Very complicated online course. DO NOT fall behind. Ask as many questions as you can even if you think it's annoying because this class is insanely confusing and complicated. Teacher grades very harsh.
I was nervous to take statistics but passed with an A+. Prof. D is VERY organized, all materials needed are readily available, & she is very clear about her expectations. Ask questions & take advantage of tutoring if you need to. Tests have an easy opportunity for extra credit & all of the quizzes are from the hw. If you do the work you will pass.
Professor Dittmar was honestly the best math teacher I have ever had. She is very well organized, provides handout notes, lectures very well and provides YouTube links of the lecture just in class you miss anything in class and need to review. If you put effort in, you can easily make an A.
I was worried about taking math online but it wasn't that bad. Best online course so far, even compared to subjects I like. Really clear. Allows notes for tests and gives bonus points. I did much better then expected.
Dittmar is a great Professor! The class was simple since I dislike math. She responded to emails quickly and is very caring. Its an easy A class if you truly pay attention. Tests are tricky since they arent multiple choice and you can use notes!
Amazing! I have struggled so hard in math, and I don't know how I did it, but I got a freakin A! This is one amazing professor. I was so scared of Statistics. If you put in the work, you may actually enjoy math! I actually loved this class, and again I am HORRIFIC at math..I am literally the meme with the lady and the floating symbols. TAKE HER!!!
I have never gotten above a C in a math class, mostly because I've never understood what the teachers are saying! This professor was so clear, she was teaching statistics to people who didn't already know statistics, and I feel like that's actually pretty rare. I wish I'd had professors like her my whole school career.
We are all now in the Remote Learning boat. Some profs were teaching this way pre-pandemic, and have really worked their method out. I've had many solid Remote profs, Dittmar is by far the BEST. She should teach all others her setup & method. Stats are intense: she will truly teach it to you, I cannot believe how well she teaches it Online.
She is so picky, you have written HW, 3-4 chapters of online questions with around at least 15 questions each, then you have 2-3 discussions and have to reply to 2 of your classmates. If your written HW is not SCANNED she WON'T take it. If you don't do corrections "correctly" she will take points off. I do not recommend her. Her tests are hard too!
I cannot even say how trashy this professor is. She never covered anything as deep as it needed to be and she only taught what was on the surface. In the class group chat all we would talk about is how bad of a teacher she is and what youtube videos to watch. I would spend about 5 hours a night doing the HW and still not understand it. DO NOT TAKE
If you are taking elementary statistics, you HAVE to take this prof. I did online and there was a good amount of homework, but she explains the concepts so well. She has a youtube video with notes for every lesson. If you do the hw, you will be prepared for the tests, plus you can use an entire page of notes. Amazing class, great prof, easy A.
I took the asynchronous online stats course. It had a fair bit of work each week -- two to three hours of videos to watch, an hour or more of online homework, an hour of written homework, and a short discussion board post. All were easy and a completion grade. Four easy tests based off of study guides.
She's a great professor & very accessible to students. If you're having issues, use office hours. This was a tough course for me, so I recommend brushing up on Geometry and some Trig before taking the class so you're not lost like I was. For some students, it was no big deal, but there were a few of us that wish we had reviewed a bit before.
Never did enough example problems and when asked to explain again she would just say the same thing and then move on. She grades test backwards by giving you how many points she thinks you deserve out of 100 rather than taking off of 100 so you end up with about 10 points less than you should've. Test are hard and lectures are incredibly boring.
I never would have completed this course with another instructor.
Failed per-calculus once with other prof but passed the second time with Mrs Dittmar. She is super organized and posts test reviews in Blackboard. Take her if you really want to learn. Grades fair.
I really enjoyed Professor Dittmar's course. In order to get a good grade follow her lectures and test reviews. It will be enough to get a good grade.
She was amazing. Best teacher ever.
Amazing prof. Organized: assignments available from day 1. Grades quickly with great feedback. Answers emails promptly. DIL course, but recorded lectures were fantastic and all you needed to complete class. Thorough exam review packets. Extra tutoring available if you need it. Great prof who does everything she can to help students succeed.
Not a great overall teacher, was a point away from a B, but would not round up unfortunately. I recommend, despite her somehow good reviews, to take a better prof, she's just not great. When you send her emails she is very condescending in her responses and I felt that there was no wiggle room to do well, she expects you to be very smart.
This was by far the best and most organized online course I've taken. Prof records all her own lectures so it's more like taking it in person. I could work ahead as I get really nervous and I was able to get enough ahead to take off all of Thanksgiving week with my kids. I still got an A (barely, I admit, but I'll take it!). Lots of content though.
Great professor. Class was alright but you really have to pay attention or you'll fall behind. We had 4 test that were 75% of our grade. You can tell she wants her student to learn and makes herself available if you have questions.
I didn't need Precalculus but took it anyway because it's been a minute since I took any math. I'm glad I did. I thought I'd feel like I already know this stuff but I didn't. Much better now. Good prof, explains things well. Reasonable tests.
I struggled a lot on the tests and ended up with 60's on 3 of the tests. The online homework allows an unlimited amount of attempts and the written homework you correct your answers after submitting. Also I felt as though the notes were not very helpful sometimes and that the homework would ask about things that we didn't really go over.
Awesome prof! Took her online 10-week 1342 class and it was very easy. No class meetings, just video notes, online hmwrk and tests. Grading criteria is very clear! Just do the work and you'll def pass. She's also very helpful and responds to emails fairly quickly, she also provides some reminders as well in case you forget. Def an easy class.
Professor Dittmar is the best college math professor I have taken a class from. If I could take Calc 1 under her I 100% would. Clear lectures and is passionate that her students understand the work. Both written & online homework; we were offered extra points on tests if we turned in the work shown for the ALEKS problems online.
She's an awesome teacher. she makes her lectures so understandable and posts them so that you can access it without being in class, tho she takes attendance. Just a few problems for homework and you can turn in your work before the tests for extra credit. The tests is so easy. She's so caring and explains the stuff to her student clearly.
Professor Dittmar was great! i took her class in the spring of 2023. If you do the work and the exam reviews you will pass with a good grade and also she lets you use notes for every exam which if super helpful. She responds fast to emails and overall wants you to pass her class.
Professor Dittmar is a great teacher for precalculus. As long as you study based on the concepts listed on the test review, the class is a breeze. The pace is great, but if you're completely new to precalculus, you need to make sure you're at least studying after every lecture.
This class is not easy, content is a lot and it goes fast. But she's an amazing teacher. Very funny, caring and passionate. Would recommend her for any class. Will give extra credit in tests and will be available for any questions.
Prof. Dittmar is one of the best Math professor I've had here at ACC. I took this class online and her lecture videos are so easy to understand and follow. Once you did all of your homework and quizzes by the deadline you got 6 points added to your test score for that unit. She's caring and helpful, I would definitely do a class with her again.
She really notices if you like math and gives a lot of encouragement. Don't be afraid to visit in office hours for any reason. She's not teaching Calc 1 but has made me feel so welcome that I plan to still visit. I don't struggle with math but she would be a good prof for someone who does. Provides a lot of support (notes, recordings, reviews).
She came back after 20 years to teach Calculus 2. Also known as the hardest Calculus of the Sequence. She did an amazing job at teaching the material. Her test were fair and she gave plenty of chances for extra credit. She is very caring for her students and wants the best for them. This is not a easy class but she made it enjoyable.
I could not have asked for a better professor! She is so, so nice and helpful. She explains statistics in a way that makes it so much easier for you to fully understand the material. You have to put in the work though! 10/10, would take again.
The reset are a HUGE part of your grade. She is a good professor but this class is tough, the only "extra credit" you get is from written homework that you have to do and correct on your own. You can make a A in homework and the test can still take your grade out, just be prepared to read a lot and be able to explain in detail.
I was nervous about this class because I'm not great at math but I need all A's for the nursing program but I just did everything she said to do and got an A! Tests were easier than expected. No surprises.
My favorite class!
The Prof is great and super nice, but she's overly precise when grading. I got the answer right but didnt show full support, so no credit. The software homework was trash. Dont waste your time. If I did it again, Id practice the test review a bunch and submit the written homework. The software caused too much agony for just 10% of the grade.
Don't take another hard class at the same time as Calculus 2 unless your really something special. Fortunately she Gives handouts and is super organized. I got sick for a week and was able to stay caught up by watching her videos. I don't know what I would have done without them. Predictable tests. Highly recommend.
Extremely organized and helpful. If you have to take Cal 2 take it with Dittmar.
PreCal is a difficult class no matter who the professor is. Prof Dittmar does a good job at teaching the material & provides a safe space to ask questions before / after class. If you take the time to study for exams, you will do good. Math is pretty objective when it comes to grading - not much she has control over. Doing well on HW will help you!
Prof. Dittmar is great! The section was fully online and had no meeting times, so it's important to stay on top of your assignments and studying for each test. Her videos are really helpful and easy to understand, though. If you turn in all of your homework assignments on time, you get 6 extra points on your exams, as well which is nice.
The notes I have from this class on the handout's are so useful. The content is kinda hard, honestly I think it's not as bad as people say but we're all different. I did have to do all the homework and little things made it hard but otherwise it wasn't that bad. It prepared me well for tests which were easier than homework.
I'm very good at math, but tbh I struggled with Prof Dittmar's teaching style. She moves pretty fast & over simplifies things that I feel should have better explanations. I found myself using youtube on every topic covered for explanations that made more sense to me. On the flip side, shes an extremely generous grader and offers ample extra credit.
I am so glad this course is over but I'm not sure I would have made it with any other instructor. Look at her website and you'll get a good idea what kind of instructor she is. complete notes and recordings for everything.
I personally loved taking 2414 with Dittmar. That's not to say it wasn't a challenging class at times. Like many math classes, the majority of your overall grade will depend on how you perform on the tests; however, she is a generous grader. If you are willing to put in the effort, you will do fine.
Very test heavy, 75% weight on (4) tests, but you get 6 extra points on your tests if you do all the homework correctly. she doesn't grade homework by being correct but by the corrections you do if they're needed. get all your homework done before the deadline, do the review she makes, and make your cheat sheet before the test day, youll do great!
This was an incredible tough course for me. It's a lot of completely new concepts. I would recommend using the online lectures as a way to hear it once, and come into lecture prepared to hear it again and be able to ask questions. Look at the exam reviews early and use THOSE as HW, be able to do them with no notes & if you can't, use office hours.
Overall an amazing and organized professor. Deadlines were clearly set with no room for confusion. Only 4 tests, and the 4th can replace your lowest test score if needed. Opportunity to earn 6 extra points for completing written hw & corrections (with the answers given) for every test. The written hw was the “hardest” part lol
Professor Dittmar is the best. She made Calculus 2 very easy to understand. Her class was fun and I really learned a lot. If you can take it with her, you will not regret it at all. She is a very lenient grader and you can very much tell her love for math, which I liked. I strongly recommend her!
