WARNING... do yourself a favor and find a different professor. Her class was unorganized and tough. spent too much money on stupid books. Very unhelpful and does not make sense, it was like go take a math course or a logics class. Also rude and uncaring.

She thinks in her closed mind that she is teaching at Harvard or Yale; difficult for its own sake; dull as dust in a tomb. Avoid! Doesn't help anyone.
She is a trip. She has a monotonous voice, but can help if you don't get on her bad side. She can be a little trivializing at times, but she's overall a great teacher. Just don't let her read to you in class-- it's awful.

I have found Dr. Rishoi to be a very pleasant instructor. Anyone who says that she is a hard professor just does not want to earn a grade they just want to be given one!!!
I really loved this class! Yes she is hard to a certain degree, but she is very helpful if you need her. I have never been able to E-mail any of my professors with questions anytime day or night and recieve answers to my questions within an hour.
I thought Mrs. Rishoi was very helpful and I did not think her class was hard at all. If you go and ask her for help she will give it to you, she is not going to help you if you don't ask. Overall great teacher and highly recommended.
Great teacher and very helpful, if you have any problems with anything just go ask for help and she will gladly help you. In this class you can't be one of those people that just like to do nothing and not ask for help when you need it.
She doesn't help, she doesn't give any feedback on your rough draft. The peer groups idea is very bad, I felt like I was in high school again, only with a teacher that doesn't teach.
Teaches like you are majoring in english. Has long hard assignments and grades very hard. Started with the class full and by the end of the semester there were maybe ten people.
She helped me improve a lot, especially after thinking I was already great. She does grade hard, but she's fair. Don't get on her bad side! She has a monotonous reading voice, but she is very intelligent. She is helpful if you have respect & direction
Horrible experience, I also felt like I was back in high school and her own personal problems seemed like she was always distracted. Little to scattered feedback and, since im not a history major, I only got a 3.0 when im a 4.0 student.
Prof. doesnt really do all that much in class to help. Always seems to be rushing through everything so she can leave. Needs to base class on more then one theme, american history gets boring after so long, mix it up a little! Not the worst class ever, but if you do not like his. dont take class.
She's definitely not an easy teacher, but she's not definitely not horrible either. She focuses on American history a lot, but it actually got my interest in the end. Don't take her if you're looking for an easy course, but if you want to learn, she's good!
Going into Dr. Rishoi's class, I did not realize that it had as much American History. However, I really enjoyed her class. I did not mind all of the American History topics because they were interesting and fun to write about. I learned alot about how to write AND about history! I loved her class!

Seems preoccupied and unhappy. I didn't like the class or the instructor. She needs to lighten up, maybe have a drink and get organized. It's not our fault her life sucks.
There is lots of Christianity covered in the course because the "Christians" whomped the Indians so much. And one of novels has Christianty as the basic plot, so it has to be covered a lot. People need to put things in right perspective on this web sight! I really liked this class.
I learned a lot in this class. She is very helpful and always there for help. I have enjoyed both of her classes, they are hard, but prepare you for writing in the future. I'll miss her.

Hated the class. Rishoi always seems like she wants to be some place else. She played favorites and nobody could figure out her grading.She lets class out early too. What do we pay for? Why can't she help after class?

Grades fairly. Lots of papers to write... often refers to WWII or Vietnam War.
i recieved a 2.5 and i worked my butt off! i believe she didnt grade fairly and didnt go over the papers personally enough. way to much about history! is this an english class or a history class?
difficult to say...very strict..and also very set in her ways. One could describe her as a very liberal feminist...so if that bothers you then stay away. I was inches away from a 4.0 though, so if you go in with an open mind, youll be fine.. I was hesitant at first...but wound up enjoying the class.

i hat this teacher, if you ever get into an arguement with her, watch out for your grades to slip and if they do, she will tell you just because your not doing good, she will not explain herself.
I think she is the worse teacher I have ever had. She is boring and not interested in her students. And also, she always plays favorites. She makes you do topics that she is interested in.
I have to disagree with the comments that students have said about this instructor. Dr. Rishoi is a fine teacher. Her and I really never saw eye to eye but she never made my grade drop because of it. In fact I got a 4.0 in 101 and a 3.5 in the second class. She is great! and she's not ****, I'm Black!
mrs rishoi is a fair instructor. she gives you plenty of time to turn in assignments. the only thing is she seems a tad bit disorganized. Make sure you keep records of all your papers she's good for misplacing them.
At midterm, we sat down and Miss Rishoi told me that my work was good, and she thought i deserved a " i dunno, 2.0-2.5". she guessed on what she thought i deserved! she is unfair and unorganized. she cancelled classes in the beginning of semester and then when no one showed up on the date she said was cancelled she flipped her gord!
This teacher is so unorganized. She is not clear with her emails and has a hard time keeping track of what she expects from you. At the last minute she is frantic about how she was up for two nights trying to turn in grades. The Native American Literature Book is worth reading. Buy the other books on ebay

She makes all of this readings both interesting and chalenging and she is so helpful when you ask her to explain more when your not clear on anything. I have alot of respect for this instructor.

Took class online and it was quite confusing at times. Maybe it would of have been better to take this one on campus.
Good professor. Clear about assignments. This class is not hard but you need to show up if you want your points for peer reviews. Show up to class, write your papers, and be familiar with blackboard and I promise you there wont be a problem.
Here ratings say it all. She can't seem to get it together. She misses class a lot and is disorganized. Students don't like her.

Wel as I said already she is HOT and she does have an attitude but who doesn't it is nice to have a teacher who can validate in many directions what is up with the topics, very informative and I guess this is why an attitude might exist to people who don't do what is asked of them

Worst teacher ever!
If you have to take her, you can, but be prepared to be confused for the first half of the semester. I took her in Spring so it was fast, but still confusing. The textbook sucked! Also be sure you have the right textbook before going to class. The quizes were almost pointless at times. Not enought time to prepare for the group project.
You need to known how write in a style not ask for in pre-classes neeeded. A ton of writting this class should count as double credits. Used four books and watch two DVD about American Indian Culture. Teacher think this is a high level class, but to me 235 is only a number.
I think that she was actually quite prompt with grades (a little longer to receive essay grades)but overall she was organized. She gave plenty of extra resources (websites, etc.)to help throughout the class. This was an online course, so it is not for people that are lazy... it is for people whom are self disciplined. I really enjoyed her class!
Worst professor ever. She hardly showed for classes and when she did she was usless. She babbled almost constantly. Her papers were graded very unfairly and she didn't allow revisions and never explained why she gave you the grade she did. I'm an English major and I will never take another of her classes.
Never take this teacher online. I have her now as a English 101 professor and she wastes time posting assignments also she is never clear on any the assignments she posts. I think people spend more time emailing her for questions then the actual assignment.
I took this online.After our problems with the comp lab were corrected, everything went smoothly.She grades fairly and just expects you to follow the directions. The comp lab exercises are incredibly helpful.If you write clear and concise sentences, you'll do well.She encourages questions and responds promptly to emails. I'd take her again.

Do not take this woman's class. I am an english major and she failed me because i didn't like her teaching style. She acted like a room full of adults was supposed to be high school students and had no respect for people's personal lives. I did the work asked of me and she failed me. Don't take her class.
Be prepared for a lot of reading and tons of deadlines. Some in my opinion impossible to meet. Make this the only class you take for the semester. :) Grades papers really late.
Assignments are posted late and she expects you to get 4 or 5 done in less than 6 days. Never posted mid term grades. is confusing on her directions.For example said 2 postings for the assignment when it did not ask for 2. I emailed her and requested she point out exactly where it said post twice. 3 weeks later she still has not responded.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER FOR ANY EGL CLASS.Disorganized. No mid term grades ever posted,Had excuses for late postings of lessons, then asked for 4-5 papers due in 5-6 days. Always had an excuse for why she was not on top of things.Graded assignments 2 months after submitted. Online Chil. Lit class and I'm a 4.0 student, reported her to dean!!
Enjoyed her class. Very helpful, and she loves when you come for advice. Clear on what she wanted. Topics were fine, but nothing real exciting. Did a lot of reading from her tex. Over all, she was a great teachor and I enjoyd her class. She was helpful with a great attitude.

Dr. Rishoi was amazing! Bit of reading but its nothing you cant skim. I think she had us write five papers and they were good topics. An easy A if you get everything done on time. She's very kind and personable. Best professor i've ever had! Anyone complaining about the work simply needs to realize that we're in college, not high school.
I don't understand what all of the complaining's about! She's a very nice, helpful teacher who tells you up front what's required and when she wants it done. The textbook is tied in with the essays, and there aren't any overly-long or boring sections. The five required essays are a reasonable length (2-4 pages), which she gives tons of feedback on.
This is a easy class.You write 4 easys in the semester & are graded on credit no credit on turning them in on time and editing.then you turn in a final draft of all 4 papers that goes as half your grade.the teacher is crazy though.i never know what shes talking about, and waists time. easy A though
The semester is almost over and I still don't even see have my grades in the grade book. She also makes ridiculous deadlines. I don't know how she is in class but I would not recommend taking her online classes unless you don't care about your grades and don't mind the two due dates she gave each week.

Her class is pretty easy. Participation is required to pass the class.60% of your grade is on your 4 essays. She communicates well and is excited to teach. However don't forget to turn in everything with your portfolio or she will deduct a WHOLE letter grade =(

I had her online, and she was absent more than half the semester. She had us write about 17 forums, and 1 paper the whole time. She only had us read 2 books. She didn't grade until the last week of school. I emailed her, and she was not helpful at all. The assignments we got were good, but was just a VERY easy A. Not very professional.
Does she know how to teach? All she did was play stick ball with us and conference. I come to school to learn, not to play.

I am sick of the excuses. If you don't mind a complete lack of feedback and having no idea what your grade may be, well, this is the teacher for you.
Terrible teacher with assignments focusing only one American history. This isn't a history class.
Many assignments and essays written, zero grades. She likes you to print out copy after copy of drafts of each paper, last week we literally cut our newly revised papers up with scissors. A lot of peer revision, takes me back to high school. If you like American History, take this english class.
She is a very slow grader. She graded assignments three times, so it was hard to know exactly where you were. That being said, if you follow her instruction and complete all assignments you'll do well.
Her English 101 is basically a history class. Every paper was about America in some way. The whole textbook was about America. She kind of rambles and goes off on weird tangents when she talks. Her feedback isn't totally helpful, she only says a few things. She seems stricter in the syllabus than in real life. She let's you go early a lot.
Missed nearly every deadline for grading. Barely there and gives little input on your writing. Also, skip this professor if you don't want to hear about the American Dream nine thousand times.
Always posts late assignments. Avoid at all costs. Hands down worst professor at MCC. I passed the class with a 94% yet get no credit due to so little contact.
I loved her all you had to do was participate in discussions and be there for every class. She let us out like an hour early almost every single day! Im not good at writing essays and that class was an easy A.
She doesn't grade anything on time. Took a summer class that spanned over 2 semesters and she didn't grade anything until the last weeks of the end of the class. So it was hard to judge how you were doing. Then she got really serious on the grading and messes your score up.
Definitely wouldn't recommend taking this professor for an English class. You can get by without really reading much of the textbook. Assignments didn't match up to discussion board on two occasions and when I brought it to her attention I was made to look like a bad student. Only received a 3.0 in this class and will be filing a formal complaint.
I actually really liked her! She made me love Eng again. It was not the cut and dry APA crap that I've seen in past 101 classes. The class was super interesting to me and I loved learning about the American History. To each their own, but I thought she was a great teacher. The slow grading did not bother me. I passed with a 3.5.
Not a great professor, but not bad either. Most of the work was essays or a few assignments in class over reading material. My issue was the class was beyond dull, and she did little to make it engaging. While I don't think you should necessarily avoid this teacher, if you have another option, maybe check that out instead.
I took as an online class. It was very easy to follow and instructions were clear and as hands on as an online class can get. Because of the nature of being online, there was a lot of homework, but it was manageable and not unreasonable. Instructor was very easy to get ahold of when I had questions.
I took this class online during the winter semester and got a 3.5. If I absolutely had to take her class again, I would but I would need to push myself more. If I'm remembering correctly, it took a little while for things to be graded, but she's still a good professor. Extra credit was offered by writing a video summary or sending some kind of ID.
I'm on week 7 of my semester, she is in a "teachers conference" and has not fixed our weekly assignments due to "bad connection". It is now Wednesday and this has been going on since last week Tuesday. She wants everyone else to be punctual and on time, but can she? No. Do not take this class with her. Graded only one week, am I passing? For now.

She makes it very hard for you to want to come to class and most classes are a waste of your time. The class is heavily based on essays and the writing prompts she gives you are very vague and hard to write about. She barely grades anything so if you miss one thing you're failing the class. I would not recommend her at all.

If you like history this is the class for you. I took English to help with writing but it seems like we spend more time with no relevant things. She makes you read the woman warrior and that book is a joke it's so confusing it's hard to get into. Both papers she has assigned have been memory or history related. Only class I that I hate going to..
Okay, so the book this year was Woman Warrior. It was honestly the worst book Ive ever read. The teacher goes on random rants about politics which I dont appreciate in an English class. During one of our group assignments my classmate was reading off his essay as part of the class. The whole time she was grunting in disagreement. That was rude!!
easy class and the work is reasonably easy as well. would take more of her classes if she had any.
She does not prepare for the class well at all. The instructions for the same project are posted twice with different instructions, leaving the requirements unclear. Constant issues with links not working, or her posting conflicting instructions but an easy class.
Has you write a lot of essays with a good amount of leeway on writing from your own perspective. Gives pretty good feedback on them. The timeline of getting everything done is a bit confusing. Other than some discussions, essays are mainly what you do in the class.
This course has been so frustrating. Assignment directions aren't clear and for many discussions you can lose points on the most hidden and pointless things.
