Not an easy class, but professor is very helpful, and explains material clearly. She makes it interesting and has plenty of helpful links in the lectures.
This is one of those teachers that will use her class to shove her political viewpoints down your throat instead of teaching you about the processes of government so you can research and form you own opinions.
If you're looking for a government teacher that uses the classroom to voice her political adjenda, this is the teacher for you. Oh, don't use the class to point out your views, it's not allowed.

THIS CLASS WAS THE HARDEST CLASS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS NEEDED. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH PRIOR POSTINGS ABOUT HER TRYING TO SHOVE HER OWN VIEWS IN OUR FACE. PLEASE TEACH US SOMETHING!!!!
Unlike previous comments, my limited experience with this professor has proved to be insprirational, convicting and giving great direction on how to be an intelligent contribution to society rather than espousing ignorance despite your IQ and grades.

Like current events? This is the one for you. she is modern, loud, and fun. cracks jokes and you'll have to keep up but it worth it- iam learning a lot!
I'm a first year law student and she is still the best teacher i've ever had. She does share her own viewpoint but she doesn't force it down you're throat. A must take class and easily the best prof. on campus.
She is an extremely helpful professor, with a lot of great ideas and flexibility. I would take her again in the future.
Not a fun or easy class...took it online and i dont think i learned much!
I did not learn much in this class except from what I read on my own in the book. She did try to push her own views and did not seem to respect(or teach) any other point of view.
she is awesome!!
Took on the net. I thought internet classes were supposed to be more manageable, this one wasn't. She was really high maintenance. She wants you to sign up for this class msg board, so your inbox will be flooded w/emails. I dropped it after one week!
She has opions, but doesnt' shove them down your throat... took it online, I did well, but what helped me was comparing my answers to fellow classmates and writing good essays, so make friends and work together and you'll be ok... I liked her and got an A
I took this course online and it stunk. She has pages and pages of nothing but her views on her website. She bases the assignments off of her views to try and prove what she says is right. She did not balance all viewpoints. I would not take her agian.
She's awesome, i wish she was teaching other classes. as long as you read what is required and pay attention in class it should be and easy a or b
Awesome web class....i learned SO many sites and so much about Texas government. I think she is a Libertarian...
This was the coolest net class i have ever taken. It wasn't easy but the teacher is REALLY up on current events and she really knew her stuff. Tests were pertty much book and lecture notes and if you study you do okay.
I am not sure why the other comments were so bad, i had a great experience in this class. I want to major in poli sci so i thought i got a good idea what policy was about from the internet class. Professor K talks kind of fast but she gets so excited about making sure you understand the material.
she talk all fifty mins about the subjects and is not clear about what to study on tests ect.
What a badass. Material can be hard but she will make sure you understand it. Don't come with a closed mind and be ready to talk.
Excellent instructor! If you want to know what is going on in your govt, this class will show you more than you want to know. You will also learn a few things along the way. Website was very user friendly, and the instructor was always available to help. Her love of the subject will rub off on you.
Now I know some people don't care for the opinions of others. However, I don't mind going through a whole class period hearing about the things she has to say. I love her class! Her words inspire me.
VERY UPBEAT PROFESSOR, BUT LOVED HER CLASS. SHE SEEMS KINDA OVERWHELMING AT FIRST BUT SHE JUST LIKES TO TALK A LOT. GIVES LOTS OF CURVES AND SHE LOVES TEACHING. SHE WILL ALWAYS KEEP HER STUDENTS INFORMED ABOUT CURRENT EVENTS AND LIKES TO HEAR EVERYONES' OPINION. WOULD DEFINTELY TAKE AGAIN!!!
She is awesome. She helped me get my kids into a better school and she is inspiring. She is also a student herself so she understands what we go through. Fabulous teacher.
Great professor! She is very intelligent and a student as well.Reading intensive class but makes the lectures that much more interesting. You'll be amazed at how smart she is.Don't argue with her you won't win, she prabbally could have been a lawyer.Best professor I've taking and as for the extra credit assingments she gives(Do It)it is well worth it
She is great in person but don't take online Loved her classin person but not online! Very smart. I notice other online ratings were not good either but the ones who go to her class enjoy the class debates as she host them and makes them interesting!
I just finished the course with Professor K---holy crap---i don't think i even IMAGINED there was so much to see and learn. I TOTALLY hated government, but not anymore...BIg on education policy but covers otherstuff too...awesome class!
took the class online. she looked down upon republicans and gave her opinion on everything. wasnt available much to help with questions, but she was pregnant at the time so maybe she's easier to contact now.
she is one of the best teachers i've ever had
great, open-minded, liberal professor. tries really hard to relate content to her students. i would highly recommend this professor.
I love Mrs. Kaupert as a person and as a teacher. She will challenge you to think outside your box. I recommend taking this course with her in person rather than over the internet. She's entertaining, knowledgeable, and you will learn a great deal!
Hmwk is challng, smart prof. but only her views. Would have liked to see other sides rather than just her view. If you love Clinton and your a liberal, than she's your goddess. Not neutral, is one sided and you won't win, even though you could be very right. Many of her articles are straight from liberal news, doesn't show both sides of politics.
I took the online course - This is good ONLY if you have a reasonably good understanding of government already. DO NOT take the online course if you don't know much about government as you will not understand much of the activities. If you take the online course- form a study group, I did and it helped so much! I got a B in this class.
I took this course online and it was just awful! She is very one sided and she is not clear on what to study for exams. Her website is confusing and she seems just too busy to teach!
I think she's great. She is very passionate about politics and I am very politicaly challenged. She made me learn and yes, assignments were tough but her grading was so fair. And let me tell you this-a whole internet class was caught cheating on an exam and you have never seen anyone so decent in handling it in your life. She needs to be appreciate
Prof. Kaupert is very passionate about what she teaches and truly wants her students to have a deep understanding so that they will get involved. Her class is somewhat hard, but only because she makes you think...You can't just read from the text and do the assignments. I would definitely take her classes again. Be prepared to work & to think!
I loved being in this class and the lectures did not put me to sleep like most professors. The assignments were enjoyable and informative. She could have been more clear and organized at times but what she lacked with that she made up with curves and more time on assignments.
Hands down-the worst teacher I have EVER had. She's rude and extremely opinionated and definitely looks down upon Republicans. She is there to TEACH not to place judgement on political opinions! Another thing-don't take her online courses because she has you all over the place and it can get VERY confusing. Take my advice and don't take her!
I took her on-line course . The course itself is very challenging. If you want to learn, do take her. She is the type of professor who gets you thinking critically so you have to appreciate her for it, because we are here to learn.
She is passionate yes and very engaging- the online course was probably the hardest that I'd ever had. However, I disagree with the previous comment about the whole class cheating thing--I do not believe that she handled the situation appropriately- I did not cheat and yet I was reprimanded and disciplined as though I had. Im not here to babysitt
Very disappointed! I took her for Maymester, don't get me wrong, I did expect the course to be challenging but not impossible.I read everything both online and text, her statements were unclear on her site. I contacted her many times for clarification, she was great with responding, but unfortunately it didn't help. I got an A in 1 but withdrew 2.
This is what it must be like to work for NASA. This class is a lot of work but not impossible. I took it online so that probably adds to the difficulty. She is really helpful tho and responds quickly to emails, she is also always available via IM. Pulled off an A, but worked for it. If your willing, this class won't be bad, but not for slackers.
This class was interesting and engaging! Though difficult at times, she is only interested in your learning. If you have any questions, whether it be on current or previous assignments, she will go out of her way to help. This class is not for those who are not willing to work for their grades though!!! Basically, YOU WILL WORK BUT YOU WILL LEARN!
She is an excellent teacher. Challenging, helpful, accessible, and fair. I took this as an internet course. Make sure you spend the time in this class or you will fall behind. I would deinitely take another course taught by Professor Kaupert.
Great class and great prof.! I thoroughly enjoyed this class and the method of instruction. There are 2 tests and three activities. Tests are challenging, but she gives good reviews. Activities are actually both fun and informative. She is very helpfull if you have questions and will go out of her way to ensure you understand the material.
I took this course online and loved it. You only have 5 assignments and two tests. She is always there to help you with questions. The assignments are legnthy though but not tough.
Good Course, though intensive on the reading and lectures. Took it online and you must work for your grade. Your mid term and final are on campus and cover all the material. She grades tough but fair.
I really enjoyed Prof K's class. Granted it was not easy, if you think you can just get by w/doing the minimum then ur in for a rude awakeing. I took it as an internet class and u must have initiative to do well in the course. You will come out of this class learning more than you ever thought you could. It was a great class.
took coarse online maymester 2008. the reading was so much!!! i never caught up. the assignment were long and the final required that I researched vocabulary words, so i spend a lot of time researching vocabulary words up, when i could of spent time studying them. I would not recomment this instructor. Unrealistic in her assignments/exam structures
Took Maymester class... Phew, a lot of information in a short period of time. You must read book and take notes. Lectures were confusing; however, she posts her lectures on her website, print those off and study. Case studies were a blast. You got to see what public policy and politics are all about. If you want to actually learn take this class
Took Maymester! A lot of info in a short amount of time. Lectures confusing, has lecture notes on her website - USE THEM! Read the book and Study as you go along, don't want until last minute. Case studies are awesome. You will learn a lot if you attend class.
By far one of the best teachers I've had at SAC. I had no interest in government before her class, after attending she relates things on a level you understand and is to the point.Keeps your attention in class with dicussions and is really smart. She doesn't take attendance but has pop quizzes randomly,so go to class. Only couple tests. Good teache
Took Prof Kaupert for online maymester. She's tough, but not impossible. Besides, this is college, right? Be prepared to read a lot of material and take lots of notes. Assignments aren't bad if you've done the work. Wish I'd taken it in class - she seems awesome! A-
Professor K is very passionate about Government. She is extremely knowledgeable, and always willing to help be it through e-mail or in person. She IS extremely opinionated but won't hold it against you if you don't agree - she will however force you to question your preconceptions and really get to know your own political affiliations. TAKE NOTES!
I had absolutely no interest in government before her class. She probably couldn't tell by my exam grades cuz I don't do well with exams, but she made my eyes open to many things I couldn't see before. When she talks, she makes me interested. I took her online class, but would have rather have had her on campus class.
Gov't was definitely only taken as a requirement. She opened my eyes and mind and now I understand so much more than I EVER did. She talks so passionately and deserves respect. Use her lecture notes and she really teaches if you want to learn. It'll make a difference in you, so I suggest you take her class serious. It's worth it, for sure!
You are GOING to know that constitution when you leave her class! A lot of little quizzes over lecture notes, but it does prep you for the tests! WOuld take again-a lot of fun
Took her online class. Assignments were fairly easy & she gives plenty of time to finish. There are 6 assignments & 2 tests. Use more lectures & some text. Very informative, loves what she does, & willing to help. Take her! Got an A!
Awesome teacher! U can tell she luvs what she does and she is good @ what she does, it seems most gov't teachers R becuz after the gov't info I have learned @ SAC I am completley involved now! She is awesome and EASY. A all around...
I don't understand how this professor receives good reviews. She is rude, unhelpful, and unclear. I made an A in her class but I DO NOT recommend her at all. She is more concerned about her opinion than in teaching public policy. If you have your own ideas, BEWARE!!! She takes points away on assignments if your opinions don't match hers.
One of my favorite professors! She basically gives you a guided tour of our government complete with a road map and skills to get you through it alone. To pass certainly requires effort but you give a little to get a lot. She is passionate about her field and highly involved in her classes. Great for comprehension and utilization of the material.
Had Kaupert for a Political Science class, which was an experiment in which 2 other teachers taught. She expected alot out of us and at times it seemed that she expected too much. I would not hold this class against her because it was chaos towards the end. Overall, she is a great professor.take her
Excellent professor, she really knows her stuff and you WILL learn a lot. If you really listen to her then you will be fine.
Quite possibly one of the greatest teachers I will have ever taken in my college career. She opened my eyes to the world of government and made it easier to understand. She also shows that it IS possible to make an impact in politics, and I never thought I'd actually know the Constitution. It should be a requirement to have her as your prof!!!
Great teacher. Passionate about government. Learned alot!
One of my favorite professors. I took her on-line GOVT II class. It was a challenging but very interesting one. Useful lectures and lots of hand-on activities helped to understand material. But be prepare to read a lot from the text-book too. By the way I did not use the latest edition. There were only 2 major tests with mostly essay questions.
Great Professor. Teaches you that govt should be apart of your daily life and that you can make a difference! I went from being clueless about Govt and Tx Govt...and I came out a better student and citizen! Easy A if you just pay attention to her lectures! Best teacher I've had at SAC!
Took GOVT I and II with this professor... Her class is fun, engaging and sometimes a little weird. She loves to put fire under your behind (get you all worked up over what govt does or doesn?t do). Maymester was extremely intense and NOT for everyone but full semester perfectly fine and easy going. Watch out for ICEs (pop quizzes), she loves them /
Prof K was by far the best prof I've had so far. I took Govt I with her this fall and loved it! Uses free online books but most of the material is from her lectures. Be sure to pay attention which shouldn't be hard because she's hilarious, interesting and very informative. Also gives pop quizes every once in a while so be sure to go over your notes
As she stated herself...She has the hardest online class and she does not apologize for it.Her lectures ramble, and are FULL of hyperlinks.Took class online but had to go to campus for tests.Provides study guides, but again are VERY lengthy. Do NOT recommend this prof unless you enjoy doing extra work!!!
Do not tate On-line. She has a lot of links and sometimes they are outdated. She does not use Blackboard. She is very knowledgable and I wished I had taken her class in person. I do recommend her but do not take her on-line course.
worst online class ever. If your taking this class beware. You have 5 massive projects and 2 finals. If you don't have a life then I recommend it, but if you have a job and kids forget passing you better start praying
Do not take this teacher online! Her review for the final had over 100 definitions to study and she only put 10 definitions on the actual final and then include cases to memorize, short answers and the essays. She gives WAY too much information on her reviews and in her lectures and that stuff is not on the final!
I was expecting this class would be hard but not the hardest among chem, a&p2, and statistics. I took this online. Its hard to understand her lectures b/c there are a lot of typing errors and she takes off for errors on assignments..??? Take this class if you don't have other hard classes. I think she makes it harder than it really needs to be.
Teaches her own agenda, very broad in lectures, very hard to pin down when asking specific questions and hard to figure out what she's looking for. Not my favorite teacher. She is passionate about public policy, though.
ONLINE. 1. She WON'T give you a YES or NO answer for even the simplest questions. 2. Doesn't use BBV (Yahoo messenger/Yahoo classroom). 3. TOO MUCH WORK (1 class shouldn't require more than 3 others combined). 4. MANY of the DOZENS of links in lectures are broken. I got an A by sheer determination, but will NEVER take Prof. K willingly EVER again.
One of the most well organized on-line classes ever structured. Textbook needed but not the most important part of the class. You will learn about Government and how it operates and why. If you just want to pass without learning, take another class. Ipitomizes a true "college level" course. Professor is very knowledgeable/passionate about subject.
Professor Kaupert is the worst teacher I've ever had. Did not respond to emails quickly at all (IF she actually responded); when she did respond, I often felt degraded for asking questions. I wanted to ask her, "Do you think I'm dumb?" several times because that's how she made me feel. She is passionate, but a really bad teacher. Don't recommend!
I took her online course, almost done w/my uppercourse work, will be getting my BS this winter. This is STILL the hardest class I have ever taken. Just DON'T DO IT to yourself. I wasn't interested in polysci to begin with, but she shoved it down my throat so hard that I hate it even more. I'm a straight A student and was surprised that I got a B.
I took this class online - it was an easy A... BUT be prepared to struggle in the beginning with technical issues. DO NOT buy the book UNTIL she confirms (no matter what the syllabus says) Every week we covered a chapter and took an open book test. She was very hands off, so you're pretty much self taught.
Professor Kaupert is rough around the edges however, once you get to know her she is actually very nice. She is passionate about her lectures and is very research oriented. The text book is not required because she provides her own PowerPoint's and handouts. Attendance is mandatory for passing.
She is absolutely amazing. Every day after class I felt so inspired to go research and learn some more. I've never met a more passionate and involved professor dedicated to the subject at hand than she is. All she wants from her students is to educate themselves, to learn and come up with INTELLIGENT IDEAS OF YOUR OWN. Not your parents or even hers
Horrible woman. Not helpful at all.
Absolutely the WORST teacher I have ever had. Requires the book, does not use it but requires you to read her slides that give zero insight into her exams. She is unhelpful and uncommunicative of her expectations.
People on here are complaining that this class is hard. Well, welcome to college. She is a great teacher. If you pay attention to her lectures, then you can see that she gives the answers to her exams. She requires you to think. She's not handing you everything like you're a child. No textbook needed. Make sure not to miss class.
This class was challenging but very doable. A LOT of MEMORIZING. Really gets you think about our government. 3 Tests. Few assignments. Some essays.
Amazing professor. Great lectures. However, her assignments are confusing and often times unprepared. She's a top notch professor except that her syllabus changes every other day and her assignments are unprioritized. She is also vague on many assignments.
It was interesting but the assignments were the best. Learned a LOT about where to get information on government
She expects you to do your homework. The in-class assignments serve to make local government personal. She's an active participant in local government, so she knows what she teaches. Great teacher, gives you the resources you need to do well! I would take her again if I could.
This professor really works with you! There are 11 activities, 12 chapter exams & 1 comprehensive final. The activities which are the major percentage of your grade can be challenging but Prof K always is willing to help you through them. Chapter exams are based off the book. I would take her again and highly recommend her to anyone.
there are chapter exams due every week that you HAVE to read the chapter in order to pass, then there are activities that are due every week that are pretty tough and based off random websites. This class was pretty tough for me and wouldn't take again!!
Professor Kaupert is not very clear on her assignments or for anything. She does not explain what she wants on her assignments and then basically degrades her students for not giving what she had not explained. Her questions and wording are very hard to understand. I use to be quite interested in government now I can not enjoy it. I dont reccomend
Horrible teacher! Not clear on anything. I would not recommend at all.
Probably one of the worst teachers out there! For anyone trying to take this for a credit any other teacher will turn out great. She is very unclear of her assignments. These require pointless activities that are very complex to understand her instructions. She expects her students to read he rmind basically.
One of the worst online classes I've ever taken. She tries to provide instructions, but they're still unclear. If you want to learn from your mistakes and understand why you got an answer wrong, forget about it, she will not post the answers. I would never take her again. This is the first class in my 2 years that I have gotten a C. AVOID HER CLASS
Best teacher if you are interested in learning! There are 12 assignments during the semester, they are not easy but she will help you. I really enjoyed her class and would definitely take her again. She really cares about the students that are interested in learning.
Some of her assignments on the online course are somewhat misleading. However, some of the other reviews makes her appear to be a complete nightmare. I was dreading her course after reading those reviews, but she's actually pretty decent if you give it your all.
The weekly assignments are what make this online class difficult. Sometimes the assignment questions were very unclear and difficult to understand, which can be frustrating while taking a course online since you do not meet with the professor face to face. Also, tests count very little, which is annoying and a bit irrational if you ask me.
Shes alright, but sometimes the questions on the modules can be misleading. The exams are based off the book, so make sure to rent/buy it. This class can be easy but its not a blowoff class.
First week of class and hardly any info pertaining to the first assignment was provided. When I didn't do well I wasn't given any assistance just snark. Questions were hard to understand and feedback was less than helpful.
Literally seems like her ultimate goal is to fail you. If you word something in a different way, but mean the same thing: wrong. It has to be PERFECT. You have to fight to just pass this class. 10/10 would NOT recommend. Trust me.
This class is by far the most difficult that I've had. Extensive reading! Assignments include so much math and instructions are never clear. Tests are lengthy and timed way too short to cover the amount of material within. I am an A student (usually 95 or above) and I'm barely making an 88 in this class, and trust- I work really hard!
This was probably the hardest class I've ever taken, but it was challenging in a good way. Professor C is a really tough no-nonsense woman, and I totally respect that. She also cares. I really learned a lot from this class. I recommend her for students that are willing to work hard and want to get something out of class.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND! First assigment given with little to no instruction and heavy in the use of excel with no warning. Can't keep her personal views out of the content. Asked pointed questions to see where you stand politically then dings you for points when you avoid answering. But if answered directly counts off if you do not agree with her views
Never will I recommend this class, it was absolutely terrible. The grading system is terrible, on many quizzes the answers I submitted were correct but were counted wrong and I had to email her various times asking for her to personally grade and correct the mistakes her system had made. Something so simple could cost you to get a problem wrong.
Never will I recommend this class, it was absolutely terrible. The grading system is terrible, on many quizzes the answers I submitted were correct but were counted wrong and I had to email her various times asking for her to personally grade and correct the mistakes her system had made.
I was very disappointed in this professor. She did absolutely nothing to make the subject matter interesting. She took forever to grade tests and put no personality in the curriculum. I would not recommend taking this professor at all.
She is awful. Generally unintelligent person, her spelling and grammar mistakes abound. Poured my heart into one paper, 89, barely spent an hour on the next, 100. The majority of the assignment's work are busy body ctrl f stuff, searching through hundred page docs looking for 1 number, test's are memorizations. Did not learn a thing. Avoid her.
Professor Woodard is the most lazy incompetent professor Ive had. You have to dig through hundred plus page pdf documents of numbers in order to find only one 1 number a single question she does not care to help at all so forget emailing her but if you dont do the assignment the day of expect an email from her. Must buy 100 text book to use once.
This is arguably the WORST experience I've had with a professor. She's rude, unprofessional, and downright offensive. This is NOT a government class, it is a STATISTICS class with a law background. Do yourself a favor and RUN! There HAS to be a better option at SAC than this class.
The syllabus tells you how difficult she is in her own words. The class is heavy reading, and you can't just explain what's in the book, she will expect you to have to have a full understanding and be able to explain everything you read in your own words to prove to her you aren't just memorizing something. Drop the class before it's too late.
