Chuck is awesome! It is totally possible to relate to him, since he is so young and laid back, and he teaches the material well. He tries to give students many chances to earn a good grade. Not just a pretty face:)
He is HOT! Thats all that matters...right?
Not that great.
??
Taking this class was a complete waste of my time. He is an arrogant and pompous human being who acts as if we are all beneath him. His tests were irrelevant to his lectures and the material on the test was strictly from the book.
He is a very arrogant person. His tests were a joke. Open book, yah right!!

He's not your typical prof. - he speaks his mind. Very refreshing! Seems to actually have a brain and use it - a drastic improvement over many professors I've had.
Chuck and S. Smith act like they are working at a real university. I'm glad that they force me to learn, even though I don't have to in many of my other classes. Chuck isn't easy but he covers the material and gives you multiple opportunities to learn. I liked teh inclass demos best.
Good class, but if you need his outside help FORGET IT
Who hired this guy? I've had correspondent courses better attended and taught! Buy the book, stay at home and take the tests (publisher generated)on WEB CT and FORGET taking notes or printing slides for exams, they fail to help anyway.
Chuck rocks. For all those students who claim he is arrogant...get a grip...he does not sugar coat anything like other professors. Chuck was always more than helpful. So what if he is a little arrogant, he is gorgeous and intelligent!
Terrible video/audio linked course that is mainly comprised of boring material presented on power-point. No class "feel" (zombie room demeanor)due to video/audio link. This course is a waste of time but this is NOT all Chuck's fault! Human Growth & Development or Health Psychology is better!
Chuck's class was hard! Even though I made a "B", I worked my butt off for it and was frustrasted most of the time. I have a much better relationship with him now that I dont have him for any classes...he is much cooler now (and Hot, se he gets away with alot!)
Very FUN!!! If you are going to take Strategies, take it with this guy!!!
Chuck's not an easy prof--he demands you actually do the work and learn something (imagine that!). I've taken several courses with him and have enjoyed all of them (minus stats, but no one enjoys that one). As long as you respect him and work hard, he will respect you and help you whenever he can.
I'm currently in graduate school for Forensic Psychology, and I can say without hesitation that Chuck's classes helped prepare me for what was to come. When you get outside of NGCSU and into the professional work world, you'll see the benefits of his high expectations.
chuck is without a doubt a great teacher and will prepare you for future classes
Great professor! Lots of fun, get on his good side though, and you'll be fine.
Easily my least favorite professor. It seems like you have to be best friends with the man just to get a decent grade. I agree with whoever said you could do better without going to class. Such a complete waste of time!

easiest crap ever! u only have class once a week, and he doesn't even care if u come.
amazing...i loved it
very unclear
Chuck is awesome! He's an awesome teacher; very funny & helpful. The only thing is that his tests are incredibly hard!!
Get another advisor if you get Chuck. He is the most confusing and unhelpful advisor ever, unless you are one of his pets. This man specializes in the run-around.
Ummm I didn't go to class. Only memorized the online quizzes from the text and most of the questions were on the test... Chuck is a little out there.
Terrible text, terrible tests, terrible professor, terrible time! Stats 2400 is a cake walk compared to this class! Chuck does allow the final to replace the semester grade so if you can fix mistakes on the four exams and understand and remember the material, you can pass the class. F-
Chuck is a total moron! He doesn't want you to buy the book because then you'll find out that what he say's in class is either directly from the book or totally wrong! If you just read the book and ignore him you'll do just fine.By the way he is not hot, and he has the worst snide giggle/ laugh that is enough to keep you away from his classes!
Prof Chuck is a really cool guy. He's a great professor and is one of the few professors students can really talk to as more of a friend than a teacher. He really knows what he teaches and he really gets his students to understand the material, not just memorize it. He made my psych class a lot of fun while we were learning.
His tests are 85% book, 10% lecture, and 5% garbage. He prides himself in making undergraduate students feel stupid for not being experts in the field of cognitive psychology. Class time is used to administer experiments and brain teasers. Do not take him unless you absolutely have to.
To his credit, he seems to be an expert in his field of study, but his lectures didn't provide much insight into the subject matter. His lectures were just a rewording of what was written in the book. He's a cool guy with a good sense of humor, but I recommend taking the class with another professor if your schedule permits it.
His lectures where very interesting but had nothing to do with the test! Make sure you study from the online test, they help A LOT.
Prof. Chuck is so cool! At first you are like "what the hell did i get myself into" because his tests are all from the book and quizes online, but then you get the hang of it. Though it isnt a big deal if you miss class, he still notices those who never come and gives you the benefit of the doubt if you are there more often. Great teacher!
He is not that bad. Just read the book and he does notice if you come to class even though its not mandatory. although he did have questions on the last exam that were for the ones who were in class if you werent you didnt know the answers.
He's a fun guy. Entertaining in class... just don't confuse that for easy.
I had Chuck a LONG time ago for cognitivefactors. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME prof.Beware of his papers, and plan accordingly. He is not "conventional" in that he will INVOLVE you as class in his teaching. It's supposed to.just his style..That was in 03-04. You'll love it...Peter McDonald was good too.Don't know if he's still around.
i had him for a summer psych 1101 course and he was awesome. all online work, never went to class except for tests. we got to take the tests together and all online work was easy b/c you could use the book. if you take the time, you could actually make a 100% in the class. he was fun and helpful
He is too young, arrogant, and inexperienced for the job of educating students in psychology. He is too busy trying to be perceived as cool among the students to take his job seriously. He is a terrible adviser. Please listen... Request a different adviser. He is not even remotely interested in your education. It's all about a paycheck for him.
I LOVED Chuck. He treats you like a friend (unless he doesn't like you, then he's rather blunt). I learned a lot of GREAT study habits from taking this Psychology course. However, you need to read the textbook, as he spends lecture elaborating on the text. Most of the test questions are from the test as well. Take Chuck if you can!!
Dr. Chuck is the bomb you just have to know a couple things. his tests come almost entirely from the book, his lectures do not prepare you at all, and second if you befriend him he will grade you nicer. o btw what that guy below said is true, he is a terrible adviser. Chuck is concerned about Chuck. Can u blame him?
While hes a nice, funny guy, he bashes religion frequently. So if you would be offended buy a prof who shows a manipulation of the Last Supper painting as the devil feasting on the body of Christ severred at the torso just for kicks, dont take his classes. +Dont bother taking notes, just study the book. His lectures are a joke but his tests arent!
There is no point coming to his class, unless you just want to be in a bit higher of standing with him. He lectures are superficial and contain information that most people are familiar with before even taking the class. His tests have nothing to do with lecture, and everything to do with the book. Don't waste your time if you want to learn.
Chuck is really funny. His lectures are pointless; he only hits the points that he feels are important. However, the tests comprise an individual exam and a collaborative portion. The tests come straight from the book so you HAVE TO READ THE BOOK or you will fail. His teaching style is unfortunate. If you want to LEARN psych, I wouldn't take Chuck.
Chuck... while he was extremely funny and entertaining. his lectures were pointless to an extent that he was an entertainer and not an actual teacher. his tests and quizes come from an online database that is derived from the book so... study the book dont go to class and you will be fine! Chuck left me feeling empty :(
I love chuck. Sometimes in class I will be confused about what we are doing on the board, but that is usually because I have not read the book before class. Tests have a closed book part based on the book like definitions and concepts, then there is an open book open note part with a few problem solving questions similar to the ones done in class.
Umm.. He is ridiculous. He tries too hard to be "artsy" and "cool" and unfortunately he is neither. He walks through the halls carrying his tiny little espresso cup as if it takes an hour to drink one. His class is boring and useless as far as the test is concerned. The only reason I went to class was to see what girly shoes he would be wearing. :)
He's really cool. Let's you call him by his first name. Lecture is interesting, but if you want to pass, you have to read the book. All the tests are online which was cool. I think it took some of the pressure off an in-class test.
I am a psychology major, and Chuck is a GREAT professor to have as your first psych professor. His lectures are hilarious, although his lectures have almost absolutely nothing to do with the tests. You can skip every class and still make an A. There's a lot of online work, all of the tests, quizzes, etc. are online. But all in all, he's great.
Pretty cool guy. can be a little creepy but his classes were so easy. i had him for idependent study and history and systems. I missed class for a week and didnt miss a thing. easy A
Unique course, hard to follow and study.
He is a cool guy but not the most passionate professor. Definitely knows his stuff and his classes are interesting, but his tests are a little hard to prepare for since there is really no guideline. If you go to him for help he will help. Cool class overall.
Chuck is awesome and great to look at. He's so funny in class and he's not afraid to get real with his students. I will take him for every class I possibly can. Maybe because I think he's just that gorgeous...
I actually really liked his class. He kept it very interesting and funny and there was never really a boring moment. The tests were mostly off of his lectures so go to class as much as you can even though he doesn't take role.
I originally took this class because I believed it would be entirely online tests. Chuck decided to switch it up this semester and make his tests in class. Despite this, he is knowledgeable, funny, and keeps class interesting with demonstrations. There are only four tests, which are not difficult if you go to class and study the book vocabulary.
This class is a waste of time. If you take it you just need to show up on test days and read the online book. I do not recommend any one to take this class.
This guy is definitely the worst professor I've ever had. He offers no help with explaining his assignments. He expects you to read his mind. He basically isn't even a professor. You teach yourself in this class. Ridiculous.
Firstly, Chuck seems like a nice guy, but honestly he isn't someone I would call a professor. His exams are hard, where he gets the material for these exams I'll never know. He says material comes directly from the lectures but a class average of 54 on the exam says otherwise. Get it together Chuck. Provide some guidelines and make your own exams
A lot of people have an issue with Chuck but it's just because they can't take a joke. He's so funny. I had him for Quantitative Methods and learned a lot. He can sometimes be confusing but is totally willing to help. I always wanted to go to class even though he wasn't a stickler. I will definitely continue to take his classes! Great professor!
Chuck is a terrible professor. His lectures are pointless and to pass his tests, you have to read the book. The tests come straight from the book. You don't ever have to show up to class, he doesn't take role and his lectures have no importance. He is very rude and very unprofessional. I do not recommend his class.
While a bit on the unprofessional side, Chuck's fairly decent. Lecture is not necessary to attend, and his tests can be found online. I personally never read the textbook, but that is where all of his tests come from.
I enjoyed this class and don't understand the comments, I got a B mostly from coming to lectures and participating, I didn't read the book much at all. I found him to be very helpful and funny
The tests are very very challenging and the jargon is strange, but the curve makes everything workout in the end.
I would encourage everyone to get to know Chuck before judging what others have said on here. I have taken him for two classes now, and he has made class more fun and interesting. A lot of people can't take his sense of humor--he means no harm though. Brilliant guy and always willing to help. Sad that I won't get to take him again before graduating
Okay, here's the thing, Professor Robertson is a nice guy, but not a good professor. The lectures turned into rambles, and I know way too much about him and his life rather than psychology. You don't have to go to class. Read the textbook or you'll be hopeless. Tests are very hard, and the average grades were 50s-60s. If you take him, good luck.
Chuck is an awesome professor! He knows what he's talking about. If you are easily offended, don't take him though. You have to work hard, but he is super helpful. There are many tutors available. Joke with him and create a relationship and he'll like you. If he likes you, he'll help you a lot. I would take him again. 10/10
Chuck is hilarious. This class is easy as long as you're responsible. Showing up to that class really isn't mandatory. His quizzes are the test word for word, so study those and you'll be fine. Take this class.
Chuck is probably one of my favorite psychology professors. Everyone seems to think that quantitative methods is difficult to master, but it is not difficult if you put the time and effort into reading the book and doing practice problems from the book. I would definitely recommend on taking his class.
I loved his class and his teaching style. I liked that he didn't have PowerPoints and he would just talk to you. You cant really take notes with his lectures so I highly recommend looking at the book before the test. He also gave participation graded practice quizzes which were the exact test. If you are easily offended, don't take him. Hilarious
Funny. You an easily learn the material from the textbook. He gives extra credit and its easy to do. Knows his information, but the tests are confusing. You do it with a group.
Chuck doesn't require you to read your book, but, Duh! Read the book. His lectures are fabulous and you will enjoy even more if you participate in the discussion. Chuck gives you the opportunity to take on-line quizzes up to three times each chapter and doesn't grade them; great study tool to check your understanding. But, again, read the book.
The class is not difficult and the professor is funny. The topic is boring.
The topic is boring but the professor is funny. Attendance is not mandatory, but the tests are not easy.
He's a great teacher, but the class is tough. He doesn't make attendance mandatory, but the powerpoints he posts do not help if you don't go to class. It's also easier to learn SPSS if you attend. The only grades are his tests, there are 3 and a final. Half is closed book and the other is open book and open note. Highly recommend.
This class has the potential to be tough, but he makes the concepts easier to learn and the class is fun. Even though you don't have to show up, I would highly suggest it because otherwise you probably won't know what's going on. His tests are half open book, half closed book-super easy. This isn't a class that I have to do extra reading for.
Chuck was an overall good professor. I didnt have to worry about his class because the test were half open book. The half that is closed book is mainly from the book. I highly suggest at least looking over the chapters before the tests.
I think Chuck is an awesome professor. He's laid back and funny. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he makes class fun so you might as well go. Tests are the usual difficulty, but if you go to the lectures and read the book there's no reason you can't have an A. Plus, he gives tons of extra credit opportunities. 10/10 recommend taking him!!
ALL OF HIS TESTS ARE ON QUIZLET FOR HUMAN GROWTH. Memorize the answers and you'll get an A each time. Tests match word for word from online and you get the chance to work in groups for the first round, and then you retake it by yourself. Gives some extra credit. I showed up once a week and still got an A in the class. Not a class to worry about...
Highly recommend taking any online class with him. Grades reasonably, clear about due dates and assignments.
Dr. Robertson (tells us to call him Chuck) is really laid back and funny. Not a huge fan of lectures, but test questions can be found word for word on quizlet. Not really difficult. Participation is based on taking quizzes on D2L, and you get credit just for taking them. Gives extra credit.
Best professor ever! Tests are easy if you pay attention and read the book like you're supposed to.
Doesn't really teach, just talks to the class. Get ready to teach yourself.
Chuck is hilarious and each class period is fun if you keep up with the concepts. 3070K is basically an in depth and applied statistics class so I would recommend taking that MATH2400 as part of your core if you can so as to prepare for the content of this class. He does a good job at explaining the content as well as preparing the class for tests.
I have taken Chuck for two classes and enjoyed him both times! He really does care about his students and their success. He wants you to succeed but isn't going to baby you and give you free grades. He is always in his office and willing to help you, which is amazing! He is a tough grader, very detail oriented, but it will come in hand later on
Chuck (which he prefers you address him by) is a great guy. If you are a psych major, you will likely have him for multiple classes & get to know him well. Some comments he makes in class are questionable & some are funny.. but for the most part he is a genuine instructor who wants his students to succeed. Thanks for another great semester, Chuck.
Chuck is a great Professor, his class is very enjoyable and he teaches well.
I took chuck for quantitative methods and lets just say he is not meant for teaching online. The tests are extremely difficult and his lectures typically involve politics and unexplained math problems. The class has 5 tests, 3 of which are in the last 3 weeks of school. He crammed chapters of material into three classes before a test. Avoid him
The tests come directly from the textbook, read the textbook, study the textbook, and youll be fine. Chuck is very knowledgeable and helps you if you have any questions. However, the textbook will be your best friend because quizzes and tests come directly from it.
Dr. Robertson is really nice and relatable but hard too. Your only grades will be a few quizzes and tests, and the tests are usually really hard too. Quizzes are open note.
Screw up a single test? You're done for. He puts in zeros for the whole semester until you've taken the tests so the class average sits at an 8 the first half of the semester. Go to the SI sessions or you won't know anything. Great person but terrible professor
Chuck might as well have not even shown up. His slides were the most unhelpful I have encountered in my educational career. He didn't *teach* a thing, more like he stood up and talked at us for an hour and 15 minutes. If only 4 grades all semester that he never puts in works for you, then by all means take his class. Otherwise, run for the hills.
This class is not for everyone, but for people who like to actively listen to the material and take notes he gives you all the test answers in the lectures. For those who would rather read a textbook or do independent work, this is NOT your professor. For those who like listening to good lectures and absorbing the info, this is an easy A.
Professor Chuck is cool as a person and is funny but you will not learn anything in his class. He just reads off the PowerPoints, goes on random rants, lets class out early, and most of the time you cannot hear him because he can speak quietly. You are better off just reading the textbook and adding more study time to your schedule.
Do not take this professor; he does not care that more than half of the class fails his tests and does not give any other assignments to help your grade. He can be offensive and arrogant. I don't even know how he still has a teaching job.
I like Chuck as a person, not as a professor. Exams are your only grades. Doesn't help much with you don't understand. The material is extremely hard to grasp. I have a 4.0 and this class might ruin that. I am currently failing and its a week from fall break. There are only 4 exam grades for the class that count towards your grade.
He's funny, has a great personality. His classes aren't mandatory but you WONT pass if you dont show up/put in no effort. Accessible outside of class but isn't good answering your questions or explaining things. I wouldnt take this class with him again but he is a good guy and I like him as a person. He only grades tests (no other grades).
Yes you're only grades are test, but as long as you study the terms and learn spss and concl. statements you'll do fine! If you think he's tough go to gvl where you don't get spss or notes! He really reduced my anxiety, I wish I took him the 1st time!! If you show up, he cares, he's understanding & accessible to help you. He wants students to pass.
I loved Chuck! I have always struggled with math, and he made me understand math more than I ever have. He's super funny and makes 2hr lectures about math actually entertaining. If you don't show up to class, you will fail the class. If you do show up and put in the work you will be very satisfied with your grade. Highly recommend!
Please if you enjoy your mental health do not take this professor ! Unless you are very math savvy you will not succeed. Very rude and arrogant and does not provide good extra help. You miss one day of class? Might as well drop. Transferring schools after this experience!
Loved Chuck! Took his course to fulfill requirements related to my minor. He provided clear feedback and graded things in a timely manner. He's also hilarious when he posted his announcements on D2L. Most of the classwork consisted of weekly quizzes and discussions. Three attempts on the quizzes and tests questions came from the quizzes, too.
He would often talk about getting drunk and would ramble about unrelated topics. Lectures and slides were not super helpful.
He was my least favorite professor I've had in all of college so far. The lectures were usually nonsense unfortunately. Don't suggest taking him
Don't take his class even if it screws up your schedule. He's a terrible teacher. He likes to start off classes by talking about how hungover he is or something and usually his lectures have very little to do with what's tested. Good luck
Chuck's class is no walk in the park - it's a real challenge. But if you stay engaged, the material clicks. Using Unstuck study alongside the textbook was a lifesaver for study prep. Definitely come to class, it's non-negotiable.
DO NOT TAKE. I asked SEVERAL times for help with the material during office hours, he said “Ask the people at your table”. He has no problem leaving people behind in class. He's also creepy, once he said “I can teach you lots of things…inside and outside the class” and winked at a girl in the class. Many people dropped the class after that.
Chuck is very nonchalant and engaging, which is great in class, makes those two hours more enjoyable and fun, but his grading is very frustrating. Every minute detail in your APA conclusions could get points marked off if you use the wrong amount of decimal places, or if you get a variable wrong you'll lose all points on later problems using it
This class is not the easiest, especially if statistics are not your thing. As long as you ask questions, work with other students, take notes, and read the textbook, it becomes clearer. The class is worth 6-credit hours, so expect to give more effort. Dr. Robertson works well with others as long as they are willing to put effort into the course.
I took Dr. Robertson for PSYC3181. It was an online course. The quizzes and tests in his course followed the learning material. It was easy to maintain an A throughout the session. I recommend taking his course.
