pls run for your dear life.he is hard
No Comments
For those that need the knowledge for future application,he is your instructor.Seems hard something but I rather get the knowledge that waltz thru a class and learn nothing.
This professor is horrible. Run. I am still in the class but I have no choice, I cannot drop it. He is hard to understand and he believes everyone is suppose to know what he is teaching. It's called learning. Don't take this man
he is really good in teaching, he gives you the opportunity to pass his test and exam, you can never make a biology class any easy than this, take him if you wanna pass
!!IF YOU'RE LAZY AND LIKE TO PARTY & NOT STUDY...I DON'T RECOMMEND U TAKE HIS CLASS!!! IF YOU'RE SERIOUS ABOUT BEING A GOOD NURSE THEN TAKE THIS MAN..U WILL THANK YOURSELF LATER.HE'S A DOCTOR & HE KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THE BODY! NOTHING IS HANDED TO YOU IN THIS FIELD.THESE PPL WIT UGLY COMMENTS WERE LAZY & NVR CAME TO CLASS! & NVR STUDIED!!! TAKE HIM!!
he tries hard for his students to pass with good grades but you really really have to be ready to work hard.
Lab time was used for lecture. Lab models were never used until oral lab exams were given. He gets frustrated w/his class easily, forgetting we are there to LEARN from him. He is unprofessional;texting & playing solitaire during oral exams, threatening to walk out on the class.I studied hard & only missed 1 class,it was the hardest class I've ever ha
if u actually wanna pass, u wuld take his class, although u ave 2 study really hard 4 ur labs, but he gives u lik 3 chances to pass just one test, i got an A in his class and i am not a biology person, i am willing to take him 4 anoda biology class
he is lik d best teacher you wanna take 4 ur biology class. ignore d comments on top, he gives u a review and d review is almost d same tin as his test, u just need to study hard and wrk on ur labs
THE BEST
Dr. Opara is a great teacher!!!!!!! I thought he was going to be a pain but I dropped all the ideas I had about professors not from this country and I was pleasantly surprised! He is very fair and he cares about his students and their success. He relates everything to the medical field and uses great examples to clarify what he is trying to say.
He tries. Actually on the students side. You have to read or you will be lost.
He tries. Actually on the students side. You have to read or you will be lost. As long as you keep up you will do fine. Very nice guy.
Love him!!!! Absolutely wonderful. He expects you to study and keep up
He is d best around here besides Pablo gracia take him. There is nothing bad about him that I can tell d world. He would make u understand despite all odds. Even if u ar working n going to skol just take n u won't regret it.
Not matter how easy an instructor is, Anatomy is hard. You have to study and be ahead of the instructor so you dont get lost. Dr Opara is a good instructor, he konws his stuff and because he is a medical Doctor he sometimes thinks we are in the medical school that I dont have a problem with cause it will help me in future. Overall good!
Good teacher, really wants students to succeed. Uses lots of medical examples and puts you on the spot a lot. Lec. tests are easy since questions ae pulled straight from the review. Lab tests are hard but the dept. is in charge of those. The class is hard but if you read and do what you're supposed to you can definitely get a B or higher.
I would not want to take any Nigerian teacher anymore. i observe that they will try to prove their intellectual abilities and qualifications to the extent that you wonder the purpose of that class.
i really wonder if this so calle Nigerian has a conscience. He fails all his people. You'll usually see Indian Professors passing their students with high marks weither they did well or not. But This Opara man is soo wicked to Nigerians. Supposely he thinks we take advantage of him and thats not the case.
he TALKS on the PHONE when we take his stupid test and speaks in his stupid african language. he likes to make long distant call abroad...his phone rings alot. SOO MUCH DISTRACTION I WANT A REFUND.
Dr Opara is agreat and fun professor. He makes the class interesting and his exams are easy. If you study i can assure you will get a b+ or higher. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
no clarity with his african accent. he speaks fake english when he's lecturing. ughh i'm freaking droping. he gives ppl attitude when they try to correct him...he thinks he is soo smart that he can't make any mistakes...his lab tests is usless and difficult. his lecture test is stupid...very HARD. DON'T TAKE HIM!
I think students praising him that hes so good is getting into his head. He needs a reality check because soon he will have no student to teach. He is arrogant, rude and ignores people when the dont get the write answer.I have had professors that have accents but his is just too thick! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!
HARD!His accent is tolerable, he is ****, his lecture exams are simple but his lab exams are HARD. He is very picky, never gives a straight answer to anyone, he treats you like medical students and expects you to know everything. If he asks a question in class and you don't know the answer he wont answer it. I got a B and I'm a straight A student
he is one of the best instructors i have ever met....afrikaans may judge him for not being partial...but i dont care and i am also a nigerian...if he knows you are a serious student and you student studys well...he'll try to help you out if you ask him. i got an A but i worked for it...and i am greatful for him making me work for my grade.
He's RUDE... Ask him a question and gives you a SMART remark for the answer!! I eventually got tired of all his "I have a Girlfriend" example stories. He threw a project at us and didn't even explain to us what it was about. He Acted like we should have already known what is was! GRRRR..... He's tests are not that difficult just study study study!
Took him at Lone Star Cy-Fair over the summer. He acts us to know everything as if we were MDs like him, but he rewards hard work. Do all the assignments, attend all the labs, do the extra-credit project, go to the tutoring/Science Corner sessions every day, and show you're working your butt off. He'll reward your efforts in the end.
I HAD FUN IN HIS CLASS, WHEN YOU DO HIS ASSIGNMENT YOU WILL PASS THE CLASS WITH AN A OR A C BUT YOU WILL PASS AS LONG YOU SHOW HE THAT YOU ARE TRYING. I AM TAKING HE NEXT SPRING FOR 2402
He was hard as heck!!! Im an A student and I made a C in his class!! Do not take him.
Dr. Opara,is a cool perfessor. I've taken him twice for a&p 1&2. Yes you have to keep up and read, but one thing I notice is he doesn't like to talk to himself. So if your comming to class and your unprepared, constantly late, then yes, eventually it would get on the teacher's nerves and he will have an attitude. So study, and show up on time.
I took Dr.Opara for A&P I & II! I don't think he is hard, the material itself is difficult! But he will help you when he can and he helps with tutorials. I enjoyed his class! A&P I was hard but I got a B and with A&P II my first C ever!! That just means I didn't put enough time into it. My fault not his! His girlfriends keep it fun and interesting!
Dr. Opara is a more than fair professor. He is very willing to assist if you are making an effort in his class. Be ready to be called out at anytime. And commit his "girlfriends" or other patients questions given in class to memory. Try to attend his tutoring section, it does pay off.
This man is horrable. he already who to give what, He gives A's to who he want to give A. Iam sick of this man.He is never fair and very fake.DO NOT TAKE HIM
He's a great professor I took him this last semester(Spring 2011) He'll definitely work with you, and is very easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend him.
Seriously people..?? Well, I took his class at Lone Star, and i learned a lot,you need to take his class he gives a lots of his "girlfriends" examples. That is what nursing school is gonna be about..stop whining and study. I always participted on his class and even if my answer was wrong,I learned the right answer and i promise i'll nvrforget it...
RUN FOR YOUR GOOD.HE IS FULL OF IT AND NONSENCE. IF YOU WANT TO PASS A CLASS DO NOT TAKE HIM PERIOD. I PROMISE YOU HE WILL MESS YOU UP.
Dr. Opara is a great teacher but you really have to pay attention in the class. He gives a lot of critical thinking questions on his exams which are based on attending his classes. His lab exam are really hard but his lecture exams are fairly easy. I received a B in the class with making very low grades on the lab exams.
Best professor ever taken! he is really helpful. His lecture exam is really hard but the lecture exam is exactly what he explained in the classroom. this professor makes AP2 quiet interesting.Highly recommended to whom they think its impossible to pass..........
Those people that gave bad comment are either just lazy or mentally impaired. Be thankful that there's a professor like him that work hard for students. Come on! I wouldn't want to be treated by a future nurse/doctor that doesn't really know what they're doing. If you think he is hard for you, then you might as well give up pursuit of healthcare.
HE WAS HARD IN THE BEGINNING BECAUSE I WAS LAZY. HE IS AN AWESOME INSTRUCTOR.I WILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM ANYTIME TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO KNOW WHAT A & P REALLY IS BECAUSE HE KNOWS THE SUFF.
I would not take him. Bad time mgmt on his part.On lab does he lectures. Then you are to turn in your lab book entries but you didn't do lab work in class. Kept pushing our test dates back and now we are behind in our class.
he gives too much info every class and expect to remember everything. test is VERY DIFFICULT. difficult than the one on connect. kinda hard to understand coz he speaks fast and sometimes his accents gets on the way. he dismiss the class exacly when it's over but most of the time, he extend his teaching even after the class.
Anyone who thinks he is a bad teacher is crazy.us being behind this semester was due to a a personal reason not because he was a bad teacher.if you want a GREAT teacher who knows what he is talking about and helps you succeed and prepares you for reality DR.OPARA is the guy! Test are based of lectures, review questions and Mastering A&P!
Dont take this class if u have hard classes and a job and cant utilize ur time to study. He is really helpful.u will have 3 critical thinking group projects,2lab exams, abt 4lecture exams and final.test is the same as the review.he has open labs on friday to study.no slacking off.take this class if u plan to major in nursing or med.he trains u a lot
First of all, anatomy is a hardcore subject.HE is very helpful and makes u understand everything.u have to be willing to put ur time and study for this class. This class will consume a lot of time.dont take other hard core subjects if u r taking this class.he gives quizzes which are extra credits(masteringa&p online.its not mandatory.
I would not take him. Bad time mgmt on his part.On lab days he lectures. Then you are to turn in your lab book entries but you didn't do lab work in class. Kept pushing our test dates back and now we are behind in our class. There was no final review. You need to study all 17 chap and you don't know what's going to be on the final.
there is alot of studying,if u study the review questions n u class notes u'll do fine.he lectures on lab days so we didn't use our lab books, but that was counted as extra credit if WE decided to turn it in,very particular on lab tests.recommend for anyone who wants to understand the body better.already enjoying 2402 w/ him this semester
Dr. Opara is an awesome teacher! Is the class difficult? Definitely. It is a very complex subject. He does an amazing job in giving the information you need to know and relating it in away that you will not forget. Dr. Opara's guidance will help you get where you plan to be. He make's sure you know the information. Excellent teacher, a HARD CLASS!
His chapter tests are relatively easy because he provides enough review questions. His lab tests are very meticulous and detailed. Mastering A & P is extra credit. He expects class participation.
Dr. O was great. if you read and attend classes you will be fine. he loves examples please always note them cos they come out in test and exams. If you read the book you will be fine, no question about it. GREAT INSTRUCTOR!!
Dr. Opara was an awesome teacher very clear on what he expects lecture exams were pretty easy just study his chapter word banks for that his lab exams won't be pretty at all I failed them all remember to do Mastering A&P and the Lab Book because they are extra credit I got a B
I took his class and made a C, then I took another teacher and made an A. I really think he is a bad teacher I know a lot of people that have had issues with his teaching.
This man I will never take again! He is boring, inconsiderate, and arrogant. He looks down upon students trying to learn just because he is a doctor and makes them feel dumb when they ask certain questions. Waste of time, all he does is read from powerpoint and miss deadlines. I don't recommend him at all.
I saw the comments left by some students here and those saying this professor wasn't clear are just not happy because they did not study and got the grade they deserved. Dr. Opara is the best AP professor i have had the opportunity to take and i know bcos this class i had taken with another professor. Best PROF. EVER. Gives his time and explains.
I am an A's student. I took his AP1 class, study day and night but barely passed his test. After that semester where over, I was thinking changing my major. I took him again for AP2 to challenge myself. If I don't pull it off I will change my major. I am doing well and have learn so much. Patient lives is in your hands, you got to know your stuff.
Dont really know how I liked a&p 1 cause after taking part 2 with this Opara I almost died. His stuff be too difficult for no reason I mean for no reason at all. Plus he boring as I dont know what I be sleep in class!!
easy as hell! easy a!!
He was pretty easy overall. He didn't seem to want to fail students unless they really weren't trying .. study his word banks and youre covered in his lecture exams. I came in his first exam believing I would do horrible only studying his word bank and but I came out fine. His lab is standard just study and pay attention and work in lab.
He teaches as if he doesn't want us to retain any knowledge. All he does is read from powerpoints. I had high hopes for Anatomy but I feel bummed now. Hard tests and long boring lectures, BEWARE!
I took this teacher this spring 2013 in A&P2 . it was hard but with much effort I got a grade A. This teacher helps students after class a lot. 4 exams take his study guide, so you have 80%by studing hard. I recommand you to this teacher Dr OPARA
Dr.O is a wonderful teacher. He knows what he's teaching. I recommend you guys to take his class. 80% of his questions comes from his study guide.
Recommended yall to take his class. He is very good and he knows what his teaching. 80% of his questions comes from his study guide
Dr.Opara is one of the best teachers I have had with him is more about proving that you know your subject if you do the grades you recive dont really matter. Hes test were challenging but when it came down to the department test it was a piece of cake, because of how much he had taught you. You will learn so many things but you will be prepared.
if you want to be successful in nursing/medical school. I recommend you guys to take Dr Opara. He is really good and he will teach you alot
80% of his tests are from the question banks so really good chance of passing his tests. Curves generously. Can't complain
Excellent teacher. Please don t be lazy. Study more his questions banks n get an easy A. I got a grade A by studying hard. 4tests n 2lab exams. Some extra points are available. Please do all of them. Good luck guys with Dr Opara.
I recommend you guys to take Dr.Opara class if you want to be successful in nursing school.
Dr O IS AMAZING IF YOU ARE A NURSING MAJOR, DEFINITELY TAKE HIM. HE PREPARES YOU GOOD AS WELL AS EVERYONE CAN UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL, BY GIVING SAMPLES FROM EXPERIENCES.STUDY GUIDE AVAILABLE TO MAKE AN EASY A.
Dr O IS AMAZINGIF YOU ARE A NURSING MAJOR, DEFINITELY TAKE HIM.
I don't really like his class, its really hard to understand him.we were supposed to take an exam this week on blackboard and it was supposed to be available until 11 pm today, but for some reason he took it off before the deadline and I didn't do it. he don't pay attention when he is grading the papers.
I love Dr. O's method of teaching. He is good and keeps the material flowing. He is the best. I saw other instructors come to for help and clarification. He is generous and kind and helpful to his students. He spends his time helping. Take his classes and you will not regret it. I know because I did.
Amazing professor. Honestly people it's A&P,stop crying! Bunch of babies!Hes willing to go extra mile for his students & does his best 2 explain concepts in ways you can understand. Those who didn't rate good, didn't take the time 2 ask for help. Simple. open lab/tutoring,use them from the start. he attends these even when not the staff on duty.
Let's make one thing clear -this is college, classes are meant to be difficult and encourage us to learn. Dr. Opara understands this and I couldn't have asked for anything more. He pushes students to their limits and helps them succeed in his class. You need to put in effort and the time to do well. If you are struggling, Dr. Opara is always there.
Dr. Opara is an incredible professor, A&P classes are not easy we are all in college and studying is a must!. I took him this fall semester and he truly went out his way to help us understand, EVERYTHING that he explains during class will be in the exam and he makes sure you catch it so there are no surprises. You will not regret it! He is the best
Dr. O really wants his students to pass and enjoy his class. You must read before class or at least look at his powerpoints. He makes A&P exciting, so just study and you'll be fine.
TOUGH
This class requires you to put in some effort. I was skeptical about this class 4 months ago, however, Dr. O really tries to HELP you learn about anatomy and phys. You are in college, this is a college class! He helps students out with curves. 6 tests and 2 labs exams. TAKE him! You won't regret it, especially if you're going into nursing or pharm!
He is very freaking hard his exams and lab exams are 100 questions each, we took about 6 exams and 2 lab exams. no one passed his lab exams but his regular exams are easy if you study the question banks. would not take him again nor recommend
Hard!!!!. He asks questions from USMLE for lecture exams which makes it difficult. Nobody in my class made good grades neither for lecture or lab tests. Feels like he teaches in medical school. Do not take him unless you want to lose your GPA.
Run, Run, Run....Save your life!! please don't hurt your grades by taking him
I love Opara ! He's one of the best teachers at HCC. He's very smart so he knows what he is talking about. I do agree his class is very difficult and requires a lot of time and dedication. This is not an easy A class, so if that's what you are looking for don't take it.
I took Opara last semester for A&P1 at ACC and I will NOT be taking him for A&P2. He does not answer questions, he is COMPLETELY unavailable outside of class, and the language barrier was a problem. He has no business teaching college courses. Do NOT take him if you value a high GPA. I passed the class but it wasn't without outside help.
Dr. Opara teaches very well even though his material is difficult. I really enjoyed it. Be ready to participate in class alot. Study the moment you register for his class bc he is no joke. He has question banks called "Q Banks" on eagle online from which he picks all his testquiz questions. Did i mention STUDY!? I loved his class, wud take again!
I took Dr. Opara's AP1 class. I had done AP1 with another prof previously. I found out that my first time was a waste of money. Dr. Opara made me understand AP. I am taking him for AP2. I want to go to Nursing school and my friend there took him and she says it is helping her big time now. Go to open lab and listen to his lectures. He is awesome.
Dr. O is a dedicated professor to those ready to study. I was not doing well at the beginning and went to him for advice and he showed me the right way to go and made me see my mistakes. Seriously, how could anyone fail this class with the review questions online available from day 1? at the end i made an A and i know that no one failed in my class
I took AP1 last semester with Dr. Opara at ACC and had a blast. His exams and quizzes are online and we had 1 or 2 problems with blackboard but that is internet NOT the professor. Anyway, tests were cool. Qbanks online to help. He is a great AP instructor. Ask his fellow instructors and see. Will recommend HIGHLY. He made me a believer. STUDY!!!
I see people whining here. This class is a necessary one for health care fields and Dr. O is the best. He has the passion, teaches and explains until everyone gets it. He answers every question thrown at him in class. Study guys. Not everyone will be a nurse, doctor or pharm and if you are interested, he is the "MAN". I'm taking AP2 with him next.
Dr. Opara's class made me understand what is needed for nursing school. Took him last semester at ACC. Taking his AP2 class when this spring semester starts on the 25th. If you want to excel in nursing school, take his class. His teaching style is aimed at helping students through nursing, medical, pharmacy or allied health schools. I was impressed
Took my Hesi and guess what? Made a 98 in AP. Dr. Opara said his students make great Hesi grades and i did. Kept hearing his voice in my head telling what to do and made the right exam choices. He is a wonderful, passionate, inspiring and caring instructor. Listen to his lectures and ask questions if you are lost. He will always explain. Thanks Dr. Opara. Nursing school is next. Am Ready, Thanks to you.
After taking his AP I class, I was exhausted. Lecture and lab exams are hard, but to be fair, the material itself is hard. If I had to take this class again, I definitely would. Work hard, study, and get a regular study group going on and you'll be just fine.
Ok. i am back 25 years after college, have 3 kids & doing biology when i was arts major. Dr O makes AP easier. I was doing chemistry at the same time and wanted out of the chem class. Opara explained everything and spent time on topics for students to understand. Those complaining do not work hard. Opara rewards work. Awesome. Take him. I will
It is a difficult class but if you are willing to learn and study hard he will try his best to help out. Great professor . I would definitely recommend him.
Great Professor!! Received his MD in Russian, very acknowledge on detail. 4 test 100%each, 5 takehome quizs 20% each + Two Lab exam 100%each, and 400% for participation, attendance, group discussion and completion of homework. of course final worth 200%. It seems like a lots of work, but if you try hard, he passes you with B or even A
Dr. Opara is one of the best professors I've had. I took him for A&P I and definitely plan on taking him for A&P II. He is understanding and will work with you if you show him you're trying. The class itself is hard but he uses a lot of funny stories and real life examples to relate back to the class. I've never met a more committed professor.
I strongly recommend Dr. Opara! Absolutely the best professor I've had. He actually cares for his students and makes the class interesting. He made Anatamy & Physiology very easy, and fun. He has a great personality! He is nice, comprehensive and also hilarious!
Dr. Opara is the best professor I had. he makes class interesting and fun. he is willing to help if u try. I will definitely take recommend him.
Dr. Opara is the best professor! He explains material in great detail always makes sure you understand. He is always willing to help. His class is fun but be prepared to dedicate lots of time to study. Go to class, study, and show effort and you will do good. I am def taking him for a&p 2 and will strongly recommend him for a&p! love his class!
Best professor ever! He explain everything so that you can understand the materials. Also lectures were not boring and if you put in the work you will pass.
Dr. Opara was my fav teacher this semester. He really cares about his students and wants them to do well. Tests are only tough if you don't study. Definitely recommend him!
The good reviews for this teacher has to be written by him. Lab test at like 7-10 chapters per lab and they're hard as hell nothing you go over in class. Regular test are fine because he gives Qbanks. However, he likes to post test 11pm at night or close test while people are at work or school. WOULDN'T recommend unnecessary stress.
Three words... BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!! Take his class you wont regret it. He is very helpful, and really cares about his students . By far, the best professor I've had!
All these past reviews are so misleading. I wish I wouldnt have taken this class with this teacher. All i have to say is, if you like being surprised with tests late at night, & not being sure of whats going on because hes very unclear, take his class. He has never once sent a mass email out to let us know whats going on. Ur basically on your own.
AP1 is hard to begin with its kind of hard to follow his method of teaching, the Labs are ridiculous as you will be tested over 7 chapters. he is a fair grader i must say and will curve grades but personally i wouldn't take him again i didn't like his teaching style , i passed his class but it was unnecessary stress
Great teacher. A lot of studying, though. The subject matter itself is very difficult but he does his best to explain it. Lecture exams are multiple choice and you should do well if you study the guides. Lab exams are extremely tough. Studying will not be enough. You'll need to sell your soul or get all the gods to come together to pass those!
Dr. Opara was one of the best professors ive had. He isn't an easy A, but he will give you all the information youneed to succeed in the course and actually remember what he taught you. don't take if you aren't willing to do the work everyday. take every open lab and tutoring opportunities, otherwise he wont baby you. if you ask, he'll help.
I took his class for both Anatomy and Physiology I and II and I would definitely take his class again! He's an amazing professor that absolutely cares about his students. However, don't mistake that for him being an easy professor because he's far from it. The two semesters I spent taking those classes have been the hardest, but most rewarding.
Dr opara is a good professor. one of my best i must say.. participation is mandatory.. lab exams are a bit difficult/.. but he does provide u with all the information you need to make an a. would take him again .
He will help you knowing that you are giving it your best. with him you will have learnt a lot of medical stuff you will need or do in year one of nursing or medical school , very intelligent and passionate lecturer. People that take him do well in there entrance and exist exams i heard. But study as well he likes dedicated student.
He is a good teacher very helpful doesn't ignore you and don't miss class otherwise you will miss lecture
He's a good lecturer and cares about his students; held weekly tutorial too, however, we never knew when tests, quizzes , and case studies would occur on/off line. It felt like he didn't plan ahead. One test was supposed to be on Wed. in class but showed up online Mon. without notice to us. Four tests the last week. Unpredictable.
This professor is very good, all Anatomy and physiology are the same classes no matter what professor you get,u just have to work hard and study, eliminate distractions and don't skip class,if u have any questions about the class, always ask the professor,I mean its your money, that's why he is getting paid,Just study together with all your classmates.
Dr. Opara knows his stuff. The material is challenging but if you hang in there you will be okay. Read ahead. I took my nursing school entrance exam a few days ago (TEASV). I used the techniques he taught us in class. His class made me learn how to think like a scientist. You will work really hard but it will be rewarding.
NIce guy. Great teacher.
HE IS THE BEST. If you just want an A, don't take him. If you want a future in medicine, you won't regret taking him. I am hardly studying much for my HESI bc its so easy in comparison to what he made us do. It is HARD but he gives EC in the end so don't give up. The stress he puts you under is great practice for real life in the medical field
Dr. Opara is one of the best professors at HCC. He is very passionate about the material and will help students. You have to work for the grade! The material is difficult. Plan on studying at least 3 to 4 hours a day on the material. He gives point for being in class... Sign up for his classes because they fill up quick!
Look over test banks(not Saladin)for lecture exams. Lab exams are brutal-study every diagram in the book! He's super unorganized & doesn't have set dates for tests/quizzes. He opened up a TEST for us at 11 PM and closed it at 7 AM next morning. Check eagle online everyday so u don't miss anything. Gives extra credit which bumps 1/2 letter grade.
Dr Opara, is the dream teacher for anyone that wants to do well in any medical field, yes you will read, but he will work with you on difficult areas, helps you understand, the best A&p lecturer in HCC period.
He was a amazing teacher would def take him again! Good lectures and awesome lab!!! if you don't understand he will explain again and try to help you! Can't say enough good stuff about him!!!!!
Dr. Opara is a great professor. I loved his lecture because he truly makes sure you understand the material, he will teach you how to remember things. To prepare for his exam read the Q-Banks, 60% ( maybe more) of the questions in the exam are from Q Bank. Take him if you are planning on going to nursing school. you will be prepapred for HESI.
Awesome professor! You have 4 online lecture exams and an online final exam. Studying the q banks will help you do well on the exams. This is a difficult class, but with studying it is possible to do great!
Knows his stuff & really does his best to make the material easy to understand. Lecture was straightforward but lab was extremely tough. Best way to study is to do it a lot &understand it. Not as hard as it sounds, just show him you're really doing your best to study. He takes into account how hard he sees you studying! Did badly on tests but got A
Dr Opara is wonderful. You will learn a lot in his class. I toke him for AP2 Lab. If you want an A do not take him. His exams are impossible to pass no matter how much you study. He is funny and caring it all depends, do you want an A or is learning more important?
Knows his stuff. BUT extremely disorganized. Crammed two projects, 3 tests, and 3 quizzes in three weeks. Also makes take-home tests at early "wee" hours of the morning (12AM). Not specific on what is due/when it's due/when the test is. He assumes you know when and what stuff is due. Dates on tests not posted on syllabus. Will call on you in class.
You don't need to study at all if you pay close attention in his class. Everything he said will be on lab/lecture exams. I enjoyed his class. It's not easy if you don't study.
He's a really great instructor. Gives you real life situations to prepare you for your career in healthcare. The test are hard so you really have to commit to the study time.
He wants you to know EVERYTHING and his lectures are fun. Pay attention to what he says/shows you in the lab because EVERY little things you think that not important WILL show up on the exams for sure. If you want easy A, take other prof. for Lab!
He is a professor that will keep you laughing and make you nervous at the same time. By far one of my favorite professors. He relates everything to real life and pay attention to every little detail. The syllabus is basically pointless but just go with it! Put in some effort with lots of open labs and he will show grace on your poor grade.
If you memorize the all the Q banks, the highest you will get is 75% out of 100. You will never get the 25% if you don't know how you apply the concept. Don't just memorize but actually Study and try to understand the question, it will make a lot of sense. GUDLUCK
Dr. Opara is one of the best Professors ever. The subject is hard, and you need to study and do a lot of work on your own, but if you are looking forward to be successful in the medical field, he is the one you are looking for. More than the theoretical teaching, Dr Opara teaches strategies to memorize, and put them to practice. 4 ex 1 df
The labs are not difficult because everything that on the lab exam, he will definitely show you in lab. He won't go over everything again just because you don't get it (he assumed you've gotta study at home).. if you're getting stucked, he'll explain if you're lucky. The labs are tough and you've gotta spend at least 8 hours/week study for it.
Uses real life ex but he moves to fast if you missed the info he wont go back. Didnt explain the grading criteria & most of the students were behind b/c of that. Took several days to finish a chapter our class was really behind & tried to speed it up which made it hard. I had to drop. I re-took it with another professor & passed with an A
Extremely knowledgeable after all he is an MD. Make no mistake you will work for that grade. Nothing he says in class is just for the sake of it, every story watch out it will come in the exam in form of a question!. lf you don't study ALOT ALOT ALOT you wont make it in his class. Extremely tough but friendly.
I took both A & P I and II with Dr. Opara and he is exactly what a Human A & P professor should be. He's not going to give you easy memorization labs and tests that won't challenge you to actually learn the material. He is a funny guy and as an experienced physician he can give his students personal examples and insight into the medical field.
Look, If you're getting into the medical field, this is the professor who will help you to get through it. Opara is going to PUSH YOU TO UTMOST LIMIT. But, is the grade more important to you? Or, would you rather actually learn the material? Be prepared to work hard. But, his lessons are going to be helpful to all you future nurses and doctors.
a bit unpredictable, makes things more confusing/harder than necessary. lecture better than lab. very clinically oriented. probably good if you plan on going into healthcare but if you just need the credit find someone easier. only calls on a few stdnts every class and makes alot of group assignments close to finals just to pile the stress on.
Don't get me wrong Dr. Opara is a good teacher. I believe because he's a doctor he expects you to know things off bat. A&P is a tough subject but he makes it harder than what it is. Yes, I would love to know above and beyond but he gives way too much work for this course that he will grade last minute. He piles work upon work.
Dr. Opara is very unpredictable and unorganized. Took him for summer 5wks and it was chaos. Yea its a tough class already as it is but he made it harder than what it should be. Read ahead because in class he skips a ton and goes fast. When you ask questions its as if he's irritated and doesn't like to repeat himself. He's good but way too much.
Uses real life examples that gets off topic usually. He enjoys talking about sex. Exams are 100 questions and he goes over everything in the lecture but too fast. Likes to skip around. He's a bit unfair when dealing with group assignments. Attendance and participation isn't mandatory but helps when he grades. He also likes to spit, stay far.
He is a good professor. He will try his best to help you but you need to keep up with him as well. He knows his stuff and he wants you to do well in his class.
Dr Opara is a great teacher! He explains content clearly !! His lab exams aren't easy so you must work hard to earn your grade! At the end of the semester, you'll realize that you would have learnt a whole lot from him. I would recommend him to anyone!
Dr. Opara makes it harder than it should be. He rushes through stuff and talks too fast. The things he takes his time to explain you would get them but he would end up confusing you with his test questions.
Dr. Opara is one of the best professors Ive ever had. Made the material easy to understand AND remember. Very relatable, kind and understanding. Will give you all the help you need to succeed. TAKE HIM FOR LAB AND LECTURE
Dr. Opara is a difficult professor, his exams are hard you'll have to study really for it. I took him for AP1 lab and lecture. Though it was though, he teaches you what you need to know especially if you're going into the medical field. He is one of the best A&p prof at HCC. But you have to work hard. Got A for both classes.
He is a pretty awesome professor but super unorganized.
I took him for AP2 lab not lecture. His teaching in lab helped me ace my lecture. His lab is fun but the exams are specific. He does reviews before the exams and expects his students to do well. Some of the questions on the review will show up on the exam (like 60%), the others he will change to similar questions. You will learn from this class.
Dr. Opara is an amazing instructor. Explains everything and answers questions. He goes into great details to make the material understandable. He is tough though. He makes you work hard.
He is the best, caring, knowledgeable, coolest, funniest, clever, respected, passionate teacher. If he was not so hard, then how would you learn anything in life? Work hard and listen closely is how I got an A
He is very knowledgeable and good professor. cj
I took his Summer 1 class and Dr. Opara is a GREAT professor. His main goal is for his students to learn the material. He makes lecture very interesting and finds ways to help us memorize the material. His tests are easy as well, he gets his questions off his QBANKS and if you study that you should be fine.
Actually surprised at how many people rated him highly. I've taken a lot of science classes (Microbiology, A&P I, A&P II, Biology, Chemistry), and taking this class again after I took all those science classes, I thought that it would be a piece of cake. WRONG. I feel like he doesn't teach that well, and honestly half of the class was confused
Dr. Opara is an amazing professor. He cares that you know what youre supposed to so youre prepared moving forward. Hes very tough (doesnt like students who dont care), but you learn a lot. Really made me love anatomy. Exams are challenging, but if you study and put in work, not hard to ace. I got high As (95-100) on all, but I studied a lot
There is alot of detail to Anatomy and it's kinda impossible to know everything as this prof expects you to do. There are easier instructors out there, try to skip this one.
He is a wonderful Dr. I would take his class again for my A&P II but it was not offered to fit my schedule.
Dr Opara is a good teacher, he knows the subject in detail but the material he posted on the canvas is so confusing. His method of teaching and exams is good for those that have a background in anatomy or physiology. He wants the students to pass but his method of teaching is good for those have some basic knowledge in physiology or anatomy .
He gives best understanding of the subject. He covers all material in class and A&P is broad subject so student have to keep up with reading. He lectures such a way that you will be able to remember material if you study. No need to cram if you understand and pay attention in class.
I took this class because I saw he had a 4.0. I'm gonna tell you now -- DO NOT take his course, ESPECIALLY online. He doesn't respond to e-mails, his syllabus and his modules say two different things. He doesn't give out reviews. His "helping" materials are unnecessarily long and I'm sure no one can memorize 30+ pages worth of practice questions.
In the first half of the semester I wished I hadnt taken his class, but now having finished the course, I'm really glad I took him. 4 exams and some other small assignments that can bring up your grade. He wont just give you an A, you have to work for it. He really knows what hes talking about and is an amazing teacher. I learned so much from him.
Everything covered in his class was included in my nursing program at UTHealth! This man is amazing and knowledgeable. Take him if you want to understand and retain information.
Took him for AP1 Lab during a 5 week summer course. Although he is incredibly knowledgeable about the subject, he has a high expectation of you learning the material quickly and thoroughly. The exams are HARD even with hours of studying and often times there was stuff not included from class. I barely passed, but I did it and with little sleep.
BEWARE!! Do read this review. Do not take this professor if you are taking it for an accelerated class ex. summer, winter. His lab exams are really really hard, he does not guide you where you can focus. Basically memorize everything you can because you will not know which section will come out.
If you want to be a good health professional go ahead and enroll in his class. 5 week classes are very short period compare to the material need to cover, because AP is the most important subject for health professionals. For 16 week classes - pay attention to the class , take notes and study everyday. You will be fine. He is the best professor.
Dr Opara is very knowledgeable, the class is very intense but he makes it easy to learn. You have to give yourself time to study to fully grasp the subject. Dr Opara may seem like a strict professor but can be lenient as well.
Signed up for a regular 16 week course with him and he condensed the course into 13 weeks. This made it difficult to keep up with all of the information. Not to mention the lecture with him was 3 entire chapters ahead of my lab. Also the due dates for assignments are constantly varying from week to week so its easy to miss due dates.
Lecture recordings were great. However, he is TERRIBLE with his communication. He often takes days to get back to you and when he does, he is short and dismissive. He doesnt care to give explanations for perfectly reasonable questions. If you press, be prepared for him to make you pay. Disappointed
His syllabus and modules don't match up and when confronted about it he sounds like he's annoyed that we don't know what to expect. The first group projects wer limited to 2 days to complete because he failed to upload it properly and gave no extension. I love the lectures he posted, this class in general is a lot to handle. Must stay on top of work
Lecture recordings were great although from 2018 (what does he even do?). However, he is TERRIBLE with his communication. He often takes days to get back to you and when he does, he is short and dismissive. He doesnt care to give explanations for perfectly reasonable questions. If you press, be prepared for him to make you pay. Disappointed
Dr. Opara is a great AP2 teacher. Please take him if you want to know more about Anatomy and Physiology. It will really help in Nursing school, his class is not just about the good grades. He is kind and provides you with any information that may need. However, his exams are difficult, so you must study a lot.
The exams are exactly like the Qbanks he gives out. He is clear with the information he gives and grades fairly. The chapters dont always correlate with the modules instead he will give the topic name. Make sure you do every assignment and the class is an easy A. As far as communication goes it can be a hit or miss.
Professor Opara cares about his students! He will provide excellent feedback on how to succeed in his class. The only reason I got a C is because I did not prepare on my end as well as I should have for the exams. As long as you do the work in this class and keep up with everything along with prepare for exams you can easily get an A.
He gives so much work its crazy...I had to drop this class because I was just too overwhelmed with all the assignments. His tests were fill in the blank. It was stressful because we never really knew what exactly to study. smh
He gives out Qbanks that will be on the exams but he gives nearly 1,000 questions for a 100 exam. You still have to memorize another 1,000 questions for another set of exams. His modules don't match with the chapters. When you write emails dude doesn't respond and when he does responds he responds in a rude way. LDB+cam is required 6 exam in total
Hes so tough, if you wanna go through hell take him. Exam was 60% of total grade. He totally sucks. He literally gave hella hw, he doesnt care about nothing. Everything is graded and are for low points
I took him because of his reviews on this website and it was the worst mistake of my life . He makes lots of mistakes on test with questions that does not have the correct answer option and the students are still penalized. This is microbiology but for some reason we were doing pharmacology. When ever you ask him any questions he gets unruly
I took this professor based on the reviews I saw, and I will never attempt to take him again! I had to drop out of the class. There was so much reading, studying and things to write that I didn't have time for my other classes. His quiz review sheets are complicated and extensive! More med school testing then for basic A&P
Do not take this professor !!!!
Syllabus quiz is horrible ..30 pages of the syllabus to read smh! assigns a video quiz, a lockdown browser quiz, multiple homework assignments, discussion assignments, pre-lecture adaptive assignments, and Adaptive assignments and the directions are vague, this class will make you wanna quit college and its an online class! Good luck if you
Do not take this man. He lies about the exams and where the questions come from. 100 question test. Takes a long time to respond back and when you email him about your test he tells you to work harder
Take this course alone for summer... He is a good communicator but tons of assignments due. All exams and final are proctored and HE ACTUALLY WATCHES THE VIDEOS, he caught some people cheating and gave a 0 for the exam. 3 discussion essays due every week, needs 300-400 words for each, plus group projects (4 total). IYKYK
I don't recommend him.
He makes lots of mistakes on test with questions... I emailed him about the questions, no reply! there is 100 questions test ..mostly critical thinking. make sure this is the only class you take, you will have at least 15-20 assignments a week. he's very militant when It comes to lockdown browser. i've never gotten less than a B+ in a class.
I took his online anytime class and he gives two, 30+ question homework assignments and one, 20+ question quiz for each chapter. There is a discussion post due every Saturday and he doesn't give a study guide for the exams that are 130 questions. All of his exams are proctored AND he watches EVERY VIDEO. Take his class in person for a good grade.
He is all about the structures, his question are all fill in the gaps, no objectives. This is the worst class I ever taken in all my stay at HCC. I do not recommend anyone to take him except you are ready to study lots of diagrams and images.
He gives assignments that help you understand the topic but just gives to much work. Do not take if you don't have time or your not going to study. There is group projects and case studies. Takes long to respond to messages and takes cheating seriously on LDB. Wouldn't recommend unless you want to learn by doing a lot of work on your own time.
He is an amazing professor. He teaches very well and makes you understand the concepts. I will never forget what I have learnt in his class. If you are a serious student who is ready to learn I would highly recommend him for AP1 and AP2. As long as you do what you need to do you are guaranteed to pass.
Many assignments to do, so expect to do a lot of homework and studying. He is very knowledgeable and gives good lectures. He explains in detail and goes over what is on the test. His tests are practically study questions he gives for each chapter. Very strict professor; takes cheating seriously. Takes a long time to respond but he is caring.
If you are looking to understand AP2 perfectly and earn a good grade. Then look no more. Dr Opara is a great teacher. I learned a lot in the course of this class. He provided all the materials. His lectures are amazing. After taking his class, I can now strongly say that I am ready for nursing school. I made the best decision taking his class.
Prof. Opara is the best Anatomy lecturer in HCC; he meticulously explains concepts to give us a vivid understanding of the material, he asks questions in his class, to ensure everyone is following, and his lectures are always fun. He also gives extra credits to encourage us to do better. Take him, work hard, and you will not regret it.
His method is the best for making you understand everything and seeking to hear your opinion. He also wants you to participate, when taking his online he wants your camera on or he will mark you absent. In general, he is very understanding and enjoys working with you to comprehend reality.
I would advise not taking his class in a 5 w summer session like I did. There was tons of hw to do: 2-3 discussions, 1 group project, 3-5 Wiley quizzes & practice questions per week. For exams, there are 100 Qs, 70% of them are from the practice questions. Each chapter had ~150 questions and each test covered 3 chapters. He does curve though.
5 lectures exams plus the final district exam. 100 questions each. 5 quiz. Lockdown browser in all exams. He uses Pearson, all homework's were time consuming. I took him online and his lectures were very heavy. He provides a lot of information in the lectures but i personally had difficulty understanding him. Grades attendance!
Dr. Opara is an amazing professor! He will go above and beyond to help students learn the material. If you want an easy A this is NOT the class for you. However, he will teach and prepare you for your future healthcare career. Four exams, must use lockdown browser. Gives extra credit and will stay after class if you need extra tutoring/help.
Idk how the man is sitting on a 4.9. He should be a 3 at most. Unnecessary group projects, lots of homework, just strict for no reason he makes AP2 a bit harder than it already is. Save yourself the anxiety take someone else frl
He teaches with passion; his goal is not only for his students to pass, but to understand the subject which will be of great help to them in the future.
He clea
I honestly fell for the 5 star rating which is probably filled with bots manipulating the rating system. He is a 2/5 at best. The gives tons of assignments and nursing scenarios that arent relevant to the subject matter. For one test review, he posts over 700 possible test questions for you to go through and that may account for only 30% of test.
If you want to be reminded that he is the department head, he will say that at EVERY meeting. His class is only for people willing to have no free time. His high rating is inaccurate. At best, he is 2/5. He gives long mandatory meetings that go overtime and assigns 10+ assignments with an exam the following week. Take literally anyone else.
Ignore the 5/5 look at the bad ratings everything on the bad ratings is true. I fell for the 5/5 took his class very recently and all I can say is RUN. Please save your money and time.
This was my first B at HCC. Listen to every review! This class was made difficult for no reason. He is a good lecturer and might be a good professor during a normal, light semester. But don't take him for summer ITS TOO MUCH WORK! You cram EVERYTHING, even though he says he doesn't want us to cram. If you want to learn and succeed, look elsewhere!
Lectures are thorough & amazing. Lots of hw and discussion posts, if you know how to study efficiently and pace yourself you won't have to cram and memorize material (he is super opposed to that, he teaches you understand, think, and apply what you learn). Demanding class, but awesome for material retention. Not an easy grade & not for lazy ppl lol
If you want an easy grade, he is not your guy. A lot of reading, heavy lectures, and a lot of homework. His lectures are amazing, pay attention during class because everything he says is on the test. If you pay attention during lectures you won't need to study a lot for the exams. He will help you if needed to clarify stuff.
Professor Opara's class is demanding but rewards active engagement. The workload is heavy, but using study aids like Unstuck study can help manage the material. Not an easy A, but great for understanding the concepts.
I would honestly advise picking him as a last resort if you need an AP1/2 class. There are too many assignments given out based on his philosophy of "I'm a student in my own class with a lot of work, so I do the same with you guys." The exams each have 100 questions (final has 50/50). It's just too much to handle even as a single class.
Good lecturer; he does make the subject interesting, but unnecessarily hard for bio I. He does not follow the department schedule and assigns things on his own time (then blames it on you for not knowing despite not making an announcement online). He does not reply to emails outside of class. Quizzes are very detail oriented, so study everything.
Professor rushes through each class Rushes in to exams and assignments without completely finishing a topic. i would even say he knit picks on certain things that should not even have points taken away from that makes it unfair for everyone. Also complains and is shady when someone wants to ask questions in class because he never answers emails.
You should only take this class if you just need a refresher. you will 100 questions test, no extra credit lots of homework. Lots of paper to write.
Worst professor possible. He the most difficult, and unprofessional professor to ever grace the HCC corridors. He makes very crude comments in class. His teaching style is boring and hard to understand. If you don't want to retake this class, find another professor. He enjoys frustrating students.
He is somewhat strict and kinda vague . read the syllabus and readings before class,he has quizzes at the start of every class. also if you are more shy, there is a higher chance that he will pick on you. Also he is pretty bad about answering emails so its better to talk to him afterclass and makesure you get all your questions out.
This class was extremely stressful and overwhelming from start to finish. The professor assigns an excessive amount of work with little guidance or flexibility. I found myself constantly anxious and confused, even though I was putting in a lot of effort. Don't recommend taking his class I'm warning you, be ready to have a stressful semester if so.
I don't know how this professor has any good rates but that's why I picked his class. I regret taking his class, very stressful and overwhelming.
Don't take this professor ! He is the department head and has a nasty attitude. Lots of work and no extra credit. I did end up barely passing and that took alot of work. All of the reviews are true so be on the look out.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. Very stressful class, tons of work, very hard to pass the class. He does not respond to emails and when he does he doesn't even answer the question you asked him. Lockdown browser on every exam. Most of the class is exams so not much to help your over all grade if you do bad on the exams.
Yeah ggs. Infuriating grading and doesn't respond to emails. Doesn't give clear instructions. Barely explains the quizzes and not that considerate. Chopped teaching on the most straight forward Bio lab. Good luck, on your second attempt.
I have to say that taking this course was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in academics. Grading throughout the entire semester was hidden, disorganized, and not transparent in ways to help students understand and do better, but rather he did not bother to give any feedback on assignments, just the grade, and it was over. Waste of $$$$.
I thought I was taking a lab not a 3 hour lecture. He grades like he is playing RainBet because you never know what you get. Presentations are also difficult to watch because he does little to guide or support students, which creates an uncomfortable environment. If you want to take his class just know your not the one winning its always the house.
He is very vague with instructions in person, feedback is usually useless, and there's no way to correct assignments to improve the grade. He does state formats of assignments in the syllabus, which helps to complete them. His lectures do not feel like a person could actually intake any information; he doesn't help with the learning
Do not take him. He does not respond to emails, has absolutely no empathy for his students, and in general, studying for his exams where a nightmare because the material given was vague. I took his online class, and he literally did nothing, so he could have at least responded to his emails. I could go on and on about why this professor sucks.
Do not be fooled by the 100-rated awesomes reviews, they have to be bots. do not take him.
