He reads stuff directly off of the slides word for word and doesn't explain anything. Very ambiguous and hard tests. Only thing u'll learn is about the news he brings up during breaks.

it is poss to do well in his class. DONT rely just on his notes MUST read the text and know it inside and out. skip over any biology connections (mainly interested in chem). Test questions mainly come from hard textbook statements READ CAREULLY! First 2tests are easiest.. Final is a KILLER.. know all you cycles, steps, and reagents INSIDE AND OUT

Before I had him for 4th yr DNDs, I read the ratings on RMP saying Kwon sucked and I thought "Ah these ppl just didnt do any studying" WRONG!This guy doesnt teach,asks stuff not in the slides and spends time talking about nonsense(ex: he spent an hr talking about how he bought a snowblower in April.He needs to retire, hes done enough failing.

He could care less if you learned anything in his class. He's only here bc he can't be fired. Questions are the most random, some of them aren't even from the slides. GOD BLESS.

Worst professor at St johns. First off why am I teaching myself, secondly why does he have such corny jokes, thirdly why does he expect everyone to understand his weird sense of humor. He needs to stop wasting everyone's time in class since what he says doesn't help but only confuses.

There's a big difference between being smart and being able to teach. Just because one has good credentials doesn't making him a good professor. I'm sorry, but you may be very smart, but the ability to teach is in significant need of improvement!

Kwon always has structure questions. He asks which one is amphoteric, which parts are basic etc. But all the answer choices are very complicated and similar. He always uses the most complicated structures and asks which ones belong to a specific class/ follow a SAR. Know SAR to get 1-2 questions right. Had to guess a lot. BEWARE OF FAKE STRUCTURES.

Worst D&D professor. Dr. Kwon plays off this innocent, confused man, but in fact he knows exactly what he is doing, which is screwing you. He is like a character in a Scooby doo episode that no one suspects to be bad, but commits the crime in the end under a mask. All FAKE structures, so learn the groups not structures. ENJOY!!

One of the worst professors I've ever had. Lectures are painfully dry and unengaging, he barely explains anything and a lot of the test questions are on things he said once in class and not in the slides. The whole class is failing and he still is unsure about giving a curve. I don't know where SJU finds these professors, clearly not qualified!

Terrible. Puts questions you have NEVER encountered before until the exam, not in his lectures, not in his slides, not in the textbook. Not an exaggeration, I go back to my notes to check. The class has a 66 average and he doesn't want to curve. If you get him, switch out. If you can't, withdraw. Not worth gambling on somehow getting a C to pass.

The tests are on things not covered in detail during lectures. Questions were created to trick the students and are not fair. No matter how much studying for the test and quiz, it is not helpful. He does not want to curve even though the class is failing and the average is in the 60s!!

Quite literally the worst prof I've had so far. Wasn't even doable as an online class if you have him in person you are literally screwed I suggest switching out ASAP or taking the course later not worth the gamble you will never get an A or might not even pass doesn't curve exam grades at all his exam was nothing like his slides and is simply BAD!

What he considers common sense is not common sense unless you have a phd in chemistry. The only thing that he is good at is failing the majority of his classes. He thinks a 68 avg is good and doesn't curve. No office hours and he doesn't teach the material that will be on his exams. T/F questions are almost always F because he changes 1 word.

Get muth instead and youll actually learn something. Man uses his slides from 2000.

I had the JOY of having Dr. Kwon two semesters in a row and I have never seen a professor with exam questions so irrelevant to what he "teaches". Every other part of the ID exam is passable if you study hard, but just pray to god you somehow pass Kwon's 1/3 of the exam. Literally memorize every part of drug structure because he puts fakes ones.

one of the worst experiences i had in this school, this man does NOT care about his students. if 90% of the class is failing, he goes "you should study harder" and proceeds to change nothing about his exams or his lectures. the most condescending and disrespectful professor on campus. 80% of class failing, 25% withdrew, RUN.

Hard to grasp his points during class because he pauses in the middle of saying something and has very vague slides. He has great knowledge but has to rekindle his passion and not give students such irrational and useless questions. He expects too much whereas medchem is difficult and needs some simplicity to explain and help teach it.

His liking to make things difficult for students is why he has the reviews he does. Teaches medchem like its abcs but his questions have a bunch of fake structures which confuse you even more so what you previously did learn has become destroyed by the nonsense he throws at you during tests.

Save your sanity. Do everything you can to avoid him. midterm and final are 50% each, no curves. No scrap paper. No feelings or empathy towards his students. He does not care. genuinely avoid him i have ptsd and trauma from this class. I put in weeks of studying into it and it doesnt pay off. majority of class fails.

Professor Kwon, the heartless titan of academia, conducts his lectures like a symphony of confusion. He does not care if you fail. If you do he doesn't even acknowledge you or give you extra credit. More than half of his kids failed his class and he does not care. The midterm is 50% and the final is 50% of your grade. No curves even if the class average is really low. If you get him I recommend you to switch out his class. It is awful!!!!

Kwon is truly the worst professor I've ever had. There is only a midterm and final and the questions on the test come out of thin air. I've had tough professors, but this man makes me want to unalive myself. I don't know why the school does not do anything about him after so many students go to the dean and complain.

Hands down the worst professor I've had so far at St. John's. Our final grade is based off of only two tests, while other professors teaching the SAME EXACT course have quizzes, etc., to factor into final grades. He could care less about the success of his students and has no remorse for failing them.

Transfer out of this class the second you find out you have him. Kwon is on probation and still fails a whole class because his questions have nothing to do with his slides. I don't understand how he still has a job. If I had a choice between taking this class again and ripping all of my hair out individually, I would be bald right now.

Do not, under any circumstances, ever, EVER take a course taught by Kwon. Class is a serious health liability, it made me want to kill myself 3 times a week. I am deciding to transfer out of St. John's all together and transfer to KCU (Kwikki Chikki University). I will see my fellow transferees there.

Only thing I learned from this class was that more than half the class failed

Extremely hard class. Lectures contain bunch of old 2000s chemical reaction pictures that are unclear and messy. There is a a lack of description and explanation for the reaction mechanisms. He talks and teaches thinking everyone in the whole class is some kinda of expert in this course and has obtained PhD degree in medicinal chemistry. Avoid him.

This class literally gave me INSOMINA. I could not even sleep before the day of exam. Horrible teaching style. There was a lack of clear explanation about the reaction mechanisms. He would verbally explain to us about them BUT most of the time you won't even understand because you don't have prerequisite knowledge about medicinal chem.

We had 1.5 hours for the final. Not even the full class time for it. No scrap paper available for the final. Medicinal chemistry is already a hard course. Therefore, it's important to simplify it and teach in way that everyone can understand easily. But no, he made it even harder. Not good at teaching the material in a digestible manner.

AVOID AT ALL COST! You're graded based on midterm and final. Exams were VERY hard. There is an extremely high chance of failing this class thanks to the way he teaches and operates the class. Studying for this class was stressful and depressing. You don't even get scrap paper to work out the reaction mechanism questions on the final.

More than half the class failed and will be retaking the course in the summer. So frustrated about this class and professor. Something needs to be done about this. I also did not get the quality of teaching for the amount of money I paid. I now have to pay double cuz of retake.

Although I lost my battle with kwon, I have been healed by the magnificent Chavez. I learned the magic of medicinal chemistry and hope to avenge my fallen warriors in my next battle with the Korean super villain.

Kwon is coming. For medchem, I was weak and inexperienced. However, I am now strong. I have become more adaptive. I will break through his domain expansion and make sure it doesn't send me to summer school like he will do to half the students in dnds. I will be victorious. He might cause me a bit of trouble, but I will win.

The guy loves seeing kids fail. His test is extremely difficult, and he does not curve that much. You know after years of constantly failing multiple students and making people drop out after one test, I would assume the program would fire him or give him a warning, but they just keep letting him do it. Can't wait to spend 4000 in the summer.

This guy must be a secret korean spy for kim, the way he tests us on things nobody knows or understands after studying the material, I don't even want to go to class anymore I straight up begged the pharmacy department to switch blocks but they wouldn't even do that, prepare urself kwon I will conquer you in the summer once more

Please if you have him prepare you GPA to tank. He is a harsh grader and does not care to curve or help students out when they struggle. If you can avoid him please do.
