He is the best Prof that I have had so far. What makes him sexy is his persona
Hey he could be a good teacher if he wanted to, but he enjoys being evil giving you hard tests..also he likes to scare his students taking a lot of bulls.. about his test. I found the class easy even though he didn't like me because I got on his nerves... but I wouldn't recomend him...
his is mean, likes to throw stuff, scares the crap out of me and many other students. he says the we are suppossed to know things that we are just learning nad if we don't we are stupids(that's what he says). He likes to give comments way out of proportion and says that we will not pass the course w
if i hadn't taken the subject before i would of failed with the rest of my classmates. Park was just horrid. he moved too fast and strayed away from the topic too much. plus he has no confidence in his students. his negative attitude is not condusive to learning.
He's so negative,i think he feels his negativity is supposed to push us further.I don't understand that.Basically,I studied on my own...he's very thorough in grading test though he'll say "I'M GONNA MAKE YOU WORK TILL YOU DROP".He'll suggest that you quit your job if you have any(Hectic class)!.
You have to study on you own or you will fail this class. He is mean. He is not prepared. If you want to know what's going on in the class you have to read the chapter before going there. Makes everything harder and think he is the best prof ever.
wanna get F, then just take him! seriously, not kidding!
I think that many students took his humor to seriously. I think he is funny. He is fast and sometimes he likes to skip, so you wonder how he got the solutions ... but in general, he is a good professor and willing to explain individually after class. His tests are harder that the finals.
I really enjoyed his class, since he made it clear. That Pre-cal is hard and all the work you put into it is reflected in you grade.
You wanna know how it feels to get your GPA dropped take him. Do you wanna know what it means to become a self learned student take him. You wanna learn something faster than a bullet train. Also a rude professor. if u wanna get ****ed take him and get 'f' both ways.
The CCNY Math dept definitely has better Math professors than him. But, he teaches well. His exams and grading policy are FAIR. Do the HW that he assigns, you will be ok. To get an A you have to BE REALLY GOOD since he takes off too many points on exams.

He goes through the material way too fast, teaches poor techniques that he insists are "better," and cusses a lot during class. His tests do not reflect the quality of his teaching, they are much harder. Avoid him if you can,
The only thing good about this professor that I liked is that he likes Star Wars.Well if you are an engineer or you just have to take this class as a requirement I feel very sorry for you. He will not teach you, he will just do problems that he has done in the past. Very STRICT grader get previous exams, very helpful they are. 94.999 is still -A
All serious minded people who want to pass this class should not take this guy. An extreme grader he is and he moves thru the material too fast. Exams are super hard. If U really want to learn maths, avoid him. Taking his class was a waste of my 540 bucks. Sucks!!!
park zooms through the material and the only way to keep up is to do the hwk and read the next 2-3 sections written on the syllabus. his tests are difficult but if you sweat the hwks and ask him for help you will know what the tests are going to be like. anyway unless you are willing to breathe calc 5 hrs a day (yes 5hrs/day!) dun take him.
There is something wrong with that guy, He likes to scare students talking about his test and saying that his test are weight hard. His test are treaky so you better do all the problems from the book so you dont get any surprises..he likes to go fast over the material so make sure u read ahead.Take this advice from a guy that got an A in his class.
The guy is actually good and he makes students study, but the thing is through out the class u have to motivate urself, cos he goes over a few problems and all u have is the homeworks he assigns. Study your homeworks hard to pass the class, and listen to his explanations which is very helpful.
prof. Park teaches well. his exam is very tricky. he goes over mateiral too fast. if you are not good with algebra do not take him. he deducts lots of point for sample mistake.
tests are hard but does a good job helping you grasp the concept of the material
No Comments
The guy does nt explain the material. He does problem after problem, after problem. You have to read all the material before coming to class or be lost.
Lots of material to absorb, recommend taking this class during the regular semester not the summer. Teacher is fair and generous, but stern on mistakes. good class.

pain in ass!!!! he does problem after problem, doesnt care if you understand or not, may be he is the only one who understand what he is doing in class~~ the test is harddddddddddddddd and you are all on ur own, definitely gotta read over the testbook if you wanna pass
Prof. Park was a great professor. By far my best CCNY math professor. If you are ready to commit yourself fully, do all his work, hw and study.... then this class is for you. If you are looking for an easy A, or a class to sleep in and still pass.... keep looking. Park is funny and keeps your attention if you give it to him.
good prof. preps u 4 final. and goes through a lot of examples. u got to do your work. exams are from homework and a lil creativity. no crap jus math.
He does problem after problem with several corny jokes in between. He does not care if you learn the material or not. I can barely understand what he says so maybe that is why I think he doesn't know how to explain the material. Definately have to do your hw if you want to pass the tests. I do not recommend!City needs to find better math teachers.
I think he is a good professor. He explains things until you get it. He also stays after class to help you. He tells jokes in class to make it more intresting. His tests are hard, you have to know the material. It's not high school. And he also prepares you for the final really well.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
Honestly hes a good guy and a good teacher. His test are difficult but if you study and work on the problems he assigns you're set He does give alot of work He does help you a lot and is willing to stay after class to help i dont agree wit those who gave him a bad rating...if you dont know the basics dont expect to pass cus he wont care
True he's funny.BUT he's NOT A teacher.Yep, he's not, bcus HE EXPECTS YOU TO FULLY KNOW ALL THE CONCEPTS BEFOREHAND!He's completely disorganized&has no direction. His class is like a recitation class, where u simply go over problems w/o him actually TEACHING u HOW to do em.CONSEQUENTLY,1/2 the class drops/fails,then he blames us for being lazy!GEE.
Ready? He does not "teach." He is a jokester, but the sad thing is, his class is joke. He's a shame to the Math department. Actually no, he's a shame to the profession of teaching.
He is DELUSIONAL! He believes everyone should go home and study calc all the time, so he can review problems in class. He is dumb and arrogant enough to believe that ALL the students are stupid or lazy, which is why they fail his class. NEWSFLASH FOR HIM: You are a BAD teacher. First, he needs to LEARN how to teach. Most horrible instructor.
c prof.how much ppl dislike the manner u teach.yea they r rite. if u need a promotion try n start being nice and teach well and yeah give students better grades. u shud look at their transcipts of the students u had last smester. All A's but 209 w/ u isC-.their GPA is .02 down.tey tryna go 2 medskoo.start being a lil nice ok?hope u dont get fired.
It is true that his class requires a lot of effort in order to pass. So guys, time to face the reality! Go to his class, ask wherever you dont understand, then you are good to go.
I also saw him smiling while taking a test. He is extremely difficult. The class materials do not prepare you for the exams or homework. One exam had to be readministered bc so may kids failed. He just does problem after problem. No questions or answers. If you can videotape the class you dont need to go. The final is easier than the exams.
What can I say. Tough class. You need to learn to laugh or it will be an uphill battle. He is not very clear with all the material. If you can get his old exams, it will be the only way to pass the class. The textbook (useless) and his examples don't adequately prepare for the exam. You are very much on your own, but he knows this and tries to help
Not horrible, but not amazing. People in the class hated him but, I have seen worse; study your butt off as you would for any calculus class.
WORST PROF ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH!!!!!! Only prof I ever encountered that actually WANTED the students to fail his class!!! Less than half the class remained by the end of the semester and you could see the pleasure radiating from in his eyes every time someone brought him a pink slip to drop the class! AVOID EVEN THE SHADOW OF THIS PROF!!!!!!!
Your worst nightmare! Avoid him with your life!!
Please people this is college not high school anymore and this professor shows this to his students. You have to study for his tests since they are very hard. If you pay attention in class and practice the problems you are good. Many students complain about the way he teaches but most of the students don't realize that high school is over.
This professor is not for the faint of heart. He is a over-all difficult professor. The important thing to do is practice prior to exams and its cake. And he can take a joke so don't be afraid to talk to him normally. Work hard and his class will be easy. :D
On the first day he told all of us that we are failures and will fail his class. His negativity really did not help when in his class. I understood the material, but the tests are a different story. He gives you 1hr, for ten long questions that reqiure alot of work. Usually people generally leave out two questions worth ten points each, people fail.
park is not so hard professor, however the concepts and applications in 209 r hard, but park teaches very well, to the point, so that ppl can't get confused, exams are pretty hard but if you'll focus on his lectures, then u'll be fine.
What a jerk he is! He is mean, arrogant and put students down. It is almost like he wants you to fail the course. His exams are so much harder than the problems he shows in the lecture. Once I saw seen him smiling at the class while we were busting our bottom off to solve crazy-hard-tricky problems on the exam. Don't take him unless you want to mess
If you care about your GPA AVOID Park!!! If u have no other choice get a hold of those that have had him & get their exams. I was close to dropping his class but got my hands on his past exams & my grades increased. He's very repetitive w/ the questions for the exams. Same problem set up just diff. #'s. Also, he does not curve so get those exams!
Did you pick a course and ended up with this professor? Then your GPA just went south. Ah, well, it's the luck of the draw. Can't win 'em all.
You can study everything and still fail because his exams are so hard. The only way to pass is studying his old exams.
first, I really thought that he was arrogant but he knew how to teach calculus. His exams sucked because they were very hard but the solution is to do a lot of problems in addition to the hw and because of that I was able to finally bust out the last exam. I dont think he's bad. I grew to like him. he's the best for the calc. courses. take him!!!
He is like those stern professor, u get what you earned. He doesn't care about student or trying to help them to do well. You are all on ur own.No extra credit to help students. NOTHING! Mad arrogant, talks half the class time.Do HW problems if u can but def get previous exams frm other students, similar questions. Not an easy class to pass.
I want to say that Park is perhaps one of the best calculus professors I ever had. I also thought he was a little arrogant at first, but grew to like him. He brings lightness to calculus, which is a BORING and tedious class. If you come in wanting to learn it's so much easier than defying the class and him; practice alot of probs and you'll be FINE.
Park is an interesting character. He definitely makes the class a little more lively with his fishing stories, and road trip stories, and many others. He likes to talk alot and often gets off topic, but i think his teaching style makes up for his lengthy stories. he has a unique way of teaching, he creates little tricks that help you remember thin
U know he reads these comments and makes fun of them. Take good notes, only use the text for prob and ref. But the tests to me are based on his notes. Gave me an A. But it took a lot of teeth pulling. Also don't drop out of class prematurely. He gives a redemption exam. Park I no ur reading... So WTH. Be a little nicer. God ..I need icecream.
hes a good teacher if u get his teaching style..hes kinda hard..most of the stuff comes from the h.w...kinda funny...not that bad of a teacher.
Professor Park is truly one of the best mathematics professor at CCNY and he treats you like adults not high school immature kids. i took his class Fall 2009 and he is absolutely great professor. his exams are based on homework problems and previous exams. very easy to understand and loved his jokes. if u want to learn math 209 take prof.park
This guy he changed my life. He failed me but I learned more in his class than any other class I've taken at city. Good explanations, interesting but alot harder than other teachers. ALOT. He will violate your GPA but you'll learn alot. what do you think is more important. i got an A- next time around without having to study cuz I knew it so well
He was funny, honestly i hate boring teachers. But if you want to pass the class you must do your homework and study, coz his test is hard. But you won't ever falling sleep in his class
Explains things thoroughly. Considering how hard the material is and the limited amount of time you have he does a great job. He gives an exam every two weeks. Great with partial credit. The exams prepare you well for the final. Homework is not mandatory but would strongly recommend. Hes an interesting character. Your grade is entirely up to you.
At the beginning of the semester I felt like dropping because of the poor grades on the class exams. However, am happy I stuck it out because in the end I truly understood the material and aced the final. Dont quit on him his one of the better pro. at ccny
He was an awesome prof. I was having trouble early on in the semester but I went to his office and he was extremely helpful. Thanks to him, I now understand calculus much better and I got an A on the final. =)
He's a really good professor. he condenses big ideas so that you can apply just a few methods to solve a lot of problems. He doesn't spend a lot of time answering questions during class but he's more than willing after class or duringhis office hours. He makes the course tough be he really is fair. Test questions are modified either from class orhw
He's okay. I'll admit he's hot!
He is a great math professor. Just DO ALL THE HW, even if he does not collect it, it is the only way to pass his class. He teaches by doing examples. His test are fair but he does not curve. Because of him, I was able to ACE THE FINAL. If you have any questions ask after class or go to his office. Overall, he is GREAT!
the best math professor. i took his class summer 2011 and it was tough. i had no life this summer. do hw, cw, and final exam questions to prepare for his exams. he will definitely prepare you for the final. even though you may get a lower overall grade taking his course you learn a lot more. he is humorous, very entertaining class.
I suspect what the guy said below... But it seems Park's attitude is a little better.
Your grade is strictly determined by your test grades. If you want to do well in the class then do the homework, it's all you need to do well on the exams. He's funny, engaging, and gives you a clear understanding of the material. If you're not willing to do your part then don't take his class. Really one of the best teachers I've ever had.
I'm a very hard working student but Park's class is extremely difficult for no reason. He's entertaining and he does a lot of problems but he does not teach. Some learn that way other's don't.My advice, life can be much easier if you don't take his class
Take this professor if you are serious about learning calculus. He's very concise about what you need to know and gives good tips to help remember things. He cracks a couple of jokes every so often to keep the class alive but they can get dull fast. NOTE: Is a very strict grader and can mess with your GPA. Do exactly as he says and you'll do great.
Nice guy!!! Teaches good, but a rough grader
class was not so hard. i feel like prof park just scared ppl into thinking it was. computer hw was a drag but gav u extra pts in grading. he's very clear on what he expects and if u follow his directions and methods it's an easy A+
Grade completely depends on the tests. Do all the problems assigned and the tests will seem fair or else they are very difficult. Strict Grader. Scares the students with his talks and makes the class seems a lot more difficult than it really is. Doesn't actually teach instead just does a LOT of problems in class. Do the hw, the class will be fair.
I've always hated math but i must say he is one of the best teachers in this school. He is strict with reasons and can be entertaining in class. He is very clear about what he wants, just don't try to be too creative or "out-smart" him. He's a strict grader and exams are pretty much all the problems he goes over in class. PRACTICE !!!
I really like this professor, He's the professor that would spend his own time to make it easier to understand and his formulas are very helpful. He definitely knows his stuff and uses color markers to make it easier to visualize. He prepares you for the final from the beginning, so he isn't a easy. If you want to learn MATH take him
Very helpful professor. He explains concepts very clearly and creates simple methods to remember how to solve problems. He practices homework problems with you, and makes sure you understand the material. His tests are a bit difficult, but you can get 80-90 on his tests if you do some the homework. Lessons are quick, so don't skip class.
loved this professor. :) he is strict with attendance.
He is a tough cookie and it's his way or the highway.I love his way of teaching because he's the only professor who takes time to use different colors to teach. He also makes math SO easy when he explains. I got an A+ in his class & the tip is DO THE HOMEWORK & do as he says. Practice makes perfection. Pay attention to the problems he does in class
As hard as the subject of Calculus 2 is in general he makes it no easier to understand and he is not one to really explain concepts. His way of teaching is just doing problems on the board and not going too in depth with the concepts of each section.
he has 5 exams and one final. Drops one of them and makes everything understand clearly. Fun to deal with. Cal 2 is basically hard so studying will make it easy. He is not that easy, but studying will keep it balanced.
he is hard. his past exams are repeated. but even if you have the past exams you will ace his exams and won't pass the final. Therefore, you will end up with a F. He does not prepare you for the final. Why take the risk? take some one else! I highly recommend not to take him.
Absolutely best math professor you can have. VERY organised, provides with detailed notes for each and every chapter. Discusses all the topics in class and prepares you for the final from the very beginning. Good luck!
I am cursed when it comes to mathematics but I could not thank Mr. Park enough for making sure I understood each and every concept on his syllabus. Aside from the classroom setting, he is a compassionate and well-rounded individual with a peculiar sense of humor that one could come to appreciate. Thank you for letting me graduate on time :)
Chun Sae Park is a relentless professor. You are given 5 difficult tests and are expected to finish it in 50 minutes which is 60% of your grade. This is his way of "preparing" you for the final, which it doesn't. He rushes through material but if you ask questions, he'll answer them. You will hate calc 2 with him. I recommend a different professor
Park is THE MAN. His tests are extraordinarily hard, but the final was a breeze. Do not skip class. Study and You'll do great. If you can get old exams study those.
Professor Park is definitely a character. He's funny and makes the class entertaining while also teaching. He knows how to teach and thats very important BUT his tests can get to you. 5 tests and a final. final is 60% for calc 1. He uses textbook questions for his test but hw is optional. Be careful, you can take the risk if you'd like.
Pay attention in class and you will be fine. 5 class exams, 5 computer assignments and a final. Most of his exam questions came from textbook with a few alteration. Other than that, there was no homework. He would sometimes make weird jokes and a bit touchy.
Great at teaching, but isn't the nicest when you don't understand somethingask him to slow down. Very straightforward. Makes tons of jokes, some of which go over the line but somehow he manages to still fit his entire lesson into the class time. He isn't great about partial credit so be careful if you're prone to making simple mistakes.
took him for a summer class and he went extremely fast. not a terrible prof though. had corny jokes every now and then and did not check homework. do them though because practice makes perfect
all he does is give tests, if you dont pass, you dont pass his class. dont take, you flunk those exams, youre screwed
Park is a great professor. If you study and do homework you'll be fine. Expect off base jokes and some picking on certain students though.
This professor is extremely difficulty and he doesn't care about his students.. If you don't pass the exams, you fail.. Do not take if you care about your grade!!!
At first very intimidating, but warms up. Towards the end barely teaches. Excel hw is pointless but will boost your grade so do it. FIND HIS OLD TESTS, THEY ARE GOLD! Park I hope your not reading this. He will sometimes copy a test from a previous semester word for word. But you will be screwed for the final, so study. I give you fair warning.
Please do not take him, he is a bad professor and his jokes are so mean and lamb. Failing in his class is more than passing THE WORST THING HAPPENED IN MATH is this guy.
You won't survive without doing practice, and I mean serious revision. Do the practice questions in the textbook and practice examples online. The exams are very difficult, but completely doable if you study enough. Not too nice with partial credit either. Calc 2 with Park is no joke. You'll learn a lot though. Brace yourself.
Prof. Park can be a bit intimidating in the beginning but he becomes a little more approachable as time passes. His lectures and notes are amazing. I've barely had to use the book to understand concepts since he explained them so well. The tests are tough but they prepared me extremely well for the final and I was able to finish it with ease.
OMG, GREAT TEACHER. I honestly loved this class. He was a very clear with his teachings. Funny too, very funny. He keeps you posted on how your doing throughout the semester, so you always know your standing. Do the work he assigns on the syllabus, although its optional, IT HELPS! Tough test grader but he gives extra credit! Take him!
Park is the man if you don't care about your GPA. He does not care if the whole class fails. He is the 'Falk' in the Math dept. He takes off 90% of the points if you miss the negative sign. To get an A in this class, ace 4 out of the 5 midterms & ace the final as well. He's funny though but damn he should be your last option.. Good luck!!
First day of classes he's very intimidating. But as the course goes along everyone gets comfortable. He's funny but also very serious about your work. He has 5 exams and a final, lowest grade dropped, DOES NOT CURVE. Optional HW, but you should do it, really helps with tests. He also has problems online! I did them all . Take if you want to learn!
Expect textbook level test questions. Homework isn't mandatory, but if you want to do well on tests you have to know the material and after doing MANY problems you should be fine. If you actually learn the material and follow his clear way of solving problems the math makes sense. Not too bad.
Prof Park is that dude. Hilarious and a good guy. Don't have to be in class, but you're asking for it if you don't go, he teaches some topics differently from the book. Tough for me because I didn't study enough till the final so I only go a C+ (totally on me), but if you DO STUDY assigned HW, they'll come up in exams and on the final very similar.
I would not recommend this professor. His final grade is based off of 60% in class exams and 40% final exam. He gives 5 exams throughout the semester one about every 2-3 weeks. His exams are tough and is based off the textbook. If you ask for help in class, more than likely he will criticize you in front the class. He's not afraid to fail the class
DO NOT RECOMMEND, he finds it funny that so many people find him intimidating, its not a joke dude you cant teach. He thinks writing 3 problem questions he can introduce a topic. you ask a question? you will get a fast write of the answer but no explanation. Tough grader, teachers want to help you pass, he wants to see you fail. Curses constantly.
This guy is not afraid to fail the whole class and he does not curve at all. He doesnt count anything except tests which are really difficult. I spent countless hours studying for this class but the guy doesnt care. Ask for help? You get none. Horrible professor, avoid him.
-I had a really hard time taking his class. You really have to study EVERYTHING on your own, or you will fail or end up dropping (which half the class ends up doing). -5 test (lowest grade dropped) -No HW Try not to take him, but if you have no other choice then just have to practice a lot. I worked hard and got an A, but was really painful.
Park teaches math his way. He want everyone to follow his procedure. You will only pass the class if you follow what he says. COPY EVERYTHING ON THE BOARD. His tests come from the examples he gives in class directly. He also enjoys talking which is pretty annoying but can't be helped.
Sure, Prof. Park is a harsh grader and his tests are on the challenging side, but as long as you do the homework (very important) and ask questions whenever you don't understand something, you will do just fine in his class.
Just don't take him. If you have a good background in the subject and don't need the prof take him but its still a tough class his exams are long, timed, hard. He makes very hard to pass, especially if you have other classes to worry about.
Park teaches really well and you're almost def. gonna understand the material he teaches but his tests are still extremely hard and he's really harsh at grading them. Def. do ALL the practice problems he gives you on the syllabus. He gives a lot of extra. review material that is really helpful but again, it's still hard. Go to office hours he helps
Park was a good professor, he provided very good notes online. And if you do the homework, you would know what was going to be the exams. I would like to take him again.
Park does not curve; his tests are harder than other professors. HOWEVER, his in-class examples and ONLINE additional examples are the most helpful I have ever had in a math class, and I suck at math. Do ALL optional hw with his notes and you will do fine. Gives decent partial credit on tests. Take for learning how to solve problems, not for an A.
Don't do it, horrible professor, take someone else.
Just avoid at any cost. He does not care about his students at all.
DO NOT TAKE HIM ! He is not a bad professor, but he is extremely tough. I struggled to passed his cal 1 class.
Professor Park is very helpful. He knows the material inside and out and he explains thoroughly. If you dont understand something ask him he will go over it but if its a silly question expect a little humor. He is definitely a hard grader but only because he wants you to succeed. Dont miss class if you have a hard time learning from the book.
Definitely a tough professor Does not curve at all, what u have on the grading rubric is what u get. Recommend him if you are serious about mathematics because he will make you learn the subject hardcore Do all the hw problems he gives you plus some more and you should be fine Uploads a lot of example problems on his website which helped a lot
Park is a really tough professor for calc 2. I was told to drop him and take somebody else but I still took him and I liked him. He actually teaches good and knows what he is talking about. If you are serious about math, then he is a good choice. His homework problems help a lot and also the examples he has online. Do the homework problems!
Awesome instructor! He really enjoys teaching so you will learn a lot. Like every other math class you don't want to miss class. Exams are really easy if you do all the suggested problems, HW problems, and attend class. Every exam had problems that he used as an example in class or in the hw. He's sarcastic and that's what makes the class fun!
Prof. Park is good at just teaching you how to solve problems, but that's as far as him being helpful goes. If you're a visual learner who looks for the theory to better understand math, he's not for you. As people said, DO THE HOMEWORK, big mistake thinking his class notes were enough to pass his hard tests. LIVE AND LEARN!
Amazing professor, very straight forward, teaches you what you need to know for his tests, he gives you 5 tests, which is awesome since you have a chance to bring your grade up, and because there no more than 2-3 chapters per exam to study. He may be sassy, but his teaching style is great.
He drops lowest test grade. Excel HW assignments. Skip class and you'll be really behind. Park is funny, but I'm not a fan of his teaching style. Doesn't explain concepts, just goes straight to examples. He isn't the nicest person when it comes to answering questions either. Def not an easy A. You have to really study, work hard and try to keep up.
The way that he thought way very difficult for me to follow. He would simply do problems on the board during class but not explain how he did them so when trying to apply the same principle to another problem I couldn't figure out how to do it. Nice guy but his teaching kind of sucks. Would not recommend taking his class.
I liked his teaching style he gets straight to the point and he teaches u some short way BUT he was very rude to students. He also doesn't like it when you ask him questions. He also makes fun of students. A very tough grader his excel assignment are useless. I think he has a bipolar disorder. One day his nice the next he's not. Avoid him
no homework, but grade by all test. he wants to students know everything without questions. no reason to take his class.
Hardest class I took all year. As it is pre-calc, most students are freshmen and probably have not much college math exp. He expects that everyone knows exactly what he is saying and therefore does not explain much. He only grades tests and offers optional hw/study material. THIS + YOUTUBE WILL BE YOUR BEST FRIEND HERE I PROMISE.
Difficult class!! All test! If you fail one test then your A is gone. However he is really cool you just have to work reallllyyyyyy hardd.
Took him for 209 he teaches pretty well and is real with the class. EZ class if you got the pass tests. Otherwise its hard af.
Look, this isn't an easy class at all for those who don't like math. i LOVE Parks. He cuts the BS and teaches hardcore. Do the homework assignments and thats IT. So many negative comments for no reason. Yes, he's rude at times but he makes it up with his teaching.
Avoid this professor at all costs. I have always been good at math and I received a D in Park's pre-calc class. I literally got an A in Pre-Calc in high school. Professor Park gives suggested homework problems but the amount of suggested problems is so overwhelming and scattered that the test questions seem far off from the homework.
Prof. Park is great. Calc 2 is difficult, so you really have to study, practice problems are key. Lectures were helpful and he is always willing to answer questions and help. Exams are difficult but they prepare you for the final. In addition he provides study guides that are useful. Overall if you want to do well, you have to work for it.
Also a word of advise, try to do really well on the first three exams. The topics get progressively harder, especially test #5. He does drop the lowest exam, so save it for the most difficult topics!
I'm taking him right now and I honestly really enjoy his class. He says we have 5 exams not including the final and the lowest gets dropped. Very lecture heavy and it's crucial that you pay attention and take good notes, do that and you'll be fine. He is hilarious (in a corny way) and he curses A LOT. It isn't for everyone, choose wisely.
Took him for a summer calc 2 class. A lot to cover in very little time, but an excellent professor. Lectures were very helpful. If you do take his summer class and are aiming an A, then you'll have to work a lot outside of class (2 to 6 hours a day), but he really does the most he can in class. An excellent choice for fall/spring classes
Park is an amazing professor. He doesn't make the class so much about just the lecture, he provides help for the tests and keeps it real. He also has corny jokes but it helps to lighten up the stress of the class. Make sure to do his homework even though only the test is graded. The homework questions are almost exactly the same to test questions.
Listen that class was hard once you get to chapter 10 up. He is an amazing teacher but if you don't try you won't pass. he gives pass very few students and gives A's to even fewer. If you think you can work hard and actually put effort you will be fine.
Dont take his class if you want to maintain a good gpa
Great professor! His tests are a breeze as long as you do the homework and study. Grade is based on the in class exams (5) and he drops the lowest one. He gives great tips and tricks on how to make the math easier and is explains well. Straight to the point in teaching, with complimentary dry jokes on the side lol. Don't listen to the rumors.
Worst professor ever. DO NOT take him. Please. for your own sake
An amazing professor, who simplifies the content and teaches only what is needed. He is also one of the most realest professors I've met and has a great sense of humor. You need to put in the work to do well, like the rest of the math classes.
He is a really though professor, he takes so many points off just for a sign or any silly mistakes made on the test. If you are not a hard worker and you are lazy you definitely won't pass this class. He also likes to curse a lot which makes him funny. Study the book section problems for the test and Matlab homework problems and you'll be fine.
As someone who enjoys doing and learning about math, I found prof. park not suitable for me. The main problem with this professor is he doesn't teach concepts. During class all he does is go over practice problems. If you don't read the textbook before class and fully understand the conceptual part of the mathematics you will be forced to memorize
Ive received B- and C+ on my all my math courses from Math 190-Calc 205. I reached Parks and he was the only professor available. I started doing all the homework's and wow can this man teach. Hes hilarious and really does not care if he offends you. Hes a great person though and you will FOR SURE learn and keep it for long term. Ty Park.
Fall '19. Structure was 4 exams, 60% of grade. Final 40%, 5% Extra credit. Tough class and Park makes it even harder. Don't slack off or you'll probably fail the class, the exams are based off textbook but you need to study hard for it. He said he doesn't drop any exams but at the end of the semester he dropped one. Good teacher, hard exams.

For MATH 212, he didn't actually teach concepts. Expects us to learn them on our own; in class we just did practice problems. He curses a LOT and is a very harsh grader. Told us on the first day he doesn't curve/drop. After 30% of the class dropped, he ended up dropping a test. Read textbook before coming to class and do practice problems to study!
Exams (four total) are 50%, the final is 40%, and excel homework is 10% of your grade. He gives homework questions (for you to practice). My recommendation, DO THE HOMEWORK PROBLEMS! They are similar to his exams and you will pass and understand the material better. He tells jokes a lot, so be ready. He does not give extra credit, so do not ask.
Amazing math professor. Teaching style is really different than others. His exams are NOT difficult. IF AND ONLY IF. You do the textbook questions, ALL OF THEM. Understand that and you will excel (homework too) in class. I have received B- on all of my math courses, it is not my subject. But did great with Park. Keep teaching park. Thank you!
I have no clue why there are good reviews about this guy. Trust me when I say this- find another professor for Calc 212, please. You won't regret it.
His exams are really hard and you need to study hard for it. He also makes the finals and since it's online wants to make it harder. He's a tough grader. Would avoid him if you can.
terrible on-line and in-class that alone says a lot just a heads up for ya
This course is hard, so are the exams, however professor park does his best to teach the subject. He challenges you to learn the material. Yes, the transition to online class was hard fro him but he still taught the material well. Exams are hard, but he's also great at teaching.
Overall a hard course, however professor park is the best professor for math209 because he knows how to teach the material. This course is exclusive to CCNY and different from most courses, and professor park knows how to teach this course well. The exams are hard though.
Hes the supervisor for 212 and he made the final 65% because of covid-19. The final was so ridiculously hard that even having notes was pointless knowing that we only have 2 hours and 15 mins. He needs to get out of that delusion thought.
He teaches well, however, his tests are extremely hard and he gives so little time. He would have been a decent professor if he only gave more time for the exams and gave easier questions. Also, I disliked that he would curse a lot.
This course isn't easy. His lectures are long and can get boring at time but he makes it interesting by cursing a lot and telling stories. He has 5 exams including the final and drops the lowest ones. His exams are hard and he give you an hour to do it. A tip to pass the course do his assigned problems and take very good notes. Good Luck.
Due to Covid-19 the course became a little more difficult after it was moved online. He made the final worth 65% but I think he did a major curve in the end because I don't know how I got a B- but I'm grateful. His exams are very difficult and he only gives an hour to do it. I could say that I learned a lot with him though. He's a interesting guy.
Would have failed if it wasn't for online learning. Most people fail him at least once. First day of class he told us his previous group only had about 14/50 kids pass if that.
He may be a jerk but he sure cares for the students that want to pass.
Probably the worst professor you can take for 212 especially if you are expecting to learn. This professor does not teach any concepts or teach in general. All he did during online class was do problems in front of the class. Anyone who asked a question got a witty reply and no answer. Full of himself but cant TEACH to save his life. teach yourself
Surprised i see good reviews, in my person experience wouldn't really call him a "teacher" because he expects you to know the whole textbook before you come to class. I don't think he's ever heard of the words "Lesson-plan."
He has a nasty attitude, and will grill you for not knowing something when you ask questions. He is the embodiment of stuck-up, and he teaches way too fast.
He knows what he's doing. However, you need to read the textbook chapter before class so you are not entirely confused during lecture. Sometimes he moves quickly. He also expects you to be able to answer his questions, such as what to do next. There was not a lot of hw. We had computer assignments on excel. Lectures were recorded.
Listen, he's not the best but he's also not the worst. His explanations are very vague and he spends 99% of class time just doing problems. Really you should think of class time as a recitation. You should learn the material before you attend class then go to class to see how problems are done. You NEED to commit a lot of time to it to do well.
Your grade literally consists of 90% exams. Bomb the exams and you're done. Exams are very conceptual and tough. 2 midterms, 1 final. Do NOT do poorly on them. Borderline passed the first 2 exams but I ended up doing very well on the final to pass. You need to learn on your own to do well. Just going to lecture wont help, its very vague.
He can be rude. You NEED to know your math before you take this guys class. If you ask him Q's about things you shouldve learned in previous courses, he will not answer or will be rude about it. Know your math and dont ask questions of things you should already know, seriously. He's also the head of the CALC212 dept. so take that for what you will.
Have you ever done drugs your entire life? If not stress from this class will get you hooked on it!!!! Never explained anything or helped in any way the entire semester.
Professor Park... that was a wild ride. Teaches by mostly showing the hardest examples posible, started teaching more conceptually after the midterm. He is cutthroat and downright mean at times but inside, he's a real sweetie. Go to office hours, you can learn a lot from him in a chiller environment. Class material it is on you to understand.
Exams are really hard. Do the textbook homework problems to prepare for the exams. He cursed a lot in class and about 50% of the class dropped by the end of the semester.
He doesn't really teach, he just jumps straight into practice problems. The grading criteria makes it so that 90% of your grade is solely based on tests, and the tests themselves are only 10 questions so getting a high grade is impossible. Try taking someone else for 209
Professor Park's class is extremely test heavy. There are two in-class exams, a midterm, and a final which is worth about 90% of your grade and the remaining 10% comes from excel homework. If you want to pass his class, then you have to do self learning because this all this guy does is do examples from the textbook for the entire class time.
SAVE YOURSELF! DO NOT TAKE HIM! Just don't. It's so hard to understand what he's teaching, and when you ask him to go over something he responds with "no". Both exams and final are worth 90% of your entire grade. His handwriting is unclear. He tries to be funny in class but sometimes says hurtful things.
He only does practice questions in class. You have to teach yourself because the exams are quite heavily graded considering there are only 10 questions and they are 10 points each.
Took his class this summer Math 20900. He was late to class every single time we had to meet, missed 2 days entirely, and the last day of class before finals and we literally were on bb collab for the entire time wondering "is he or isn't he". And at the end of the course so many failed or barely passed. DO NOT TAKE HIM! DO NOT TAKE HIS COURSE!
Took him for summer. Late everyday. Didn't show up on the last day. Final was out of 150 but since everyone fails, he changed it out of 120 so that he doesn't face any problems. Extremely rude, thinks he is funny. Doesn't reply to emails. If you are a pre-med student, see if they offer it with different prof or just do E-permit. DON'T TAKE HIM
He does not care about us. Tell me how everyone failed. Quite rude and always late to his OWN lectures. Sometimes misses class and emails us some hours after. No regard for his students. AVOID!!!
If you arent good at math, be prepared or try to ePermit, he's extremely hard. Good luck if your lost during lecture since he doesn't have the time to go over basics. If your good at math, you may pass. He's not bad at teaching but you have to be good at math to understand. Pretty nice, uses humor to hide the difficulty of the class. SLIGHT curve.
Worst professor I've ever had. Listen to me, he does not teach the content, only does practice problems during lecture. If you wanna learn CALC1, DO NOT TAKE HIM. Only take him if you already know the content. He is arrogant, rude. He expects you to know everything from PRE-CALC. Class started with 40 students, now there is only 15.
I BEG YOU! DO NOT TAKE HIM! THE WORST PROF IVE EVER HAD! THERE ARE SO MANY TESTS AND HE DOESN'T EVEN GIVE YOU ENOUGH TIME TO PRACTICE THE TOPICS PROPERLY BECAUSE THERE WILL BE TESTS ONE AFTER ANOTHER!
If you have the chance, PLEASE PICK ANOTHER PROFESSOR. Professor Park is extremely rude. Anytime someone would ask a question (something that most of us didn't understand), he would insult them as if we are supposed to know this stuff already. We tried YouTube videos, studying together, etc. but none of that helped when taking the exams.
Worst teacher I've ever had in my life; this class gave me the worst anxiety and depression, and he caused my first and only panic attack. Please take this class with another professor, it is not worth the stress and anxiety it will cause. I retook this class at another school and received an A+.
Best math professor I've ever had. He really knows how to explain the concepts. Uses a great deal of profanity. He will literally put questions from the textbook on the exams (won't even change the numbers, often) so make sure you practice those to do well on the exams! If you skip lecture you're doomed. Go to tutoring if you're confused.
He was actually funny, just be nice to him and he will 100% be nice back.
He teaches well and explains things clearly. There are no pop quizzes but there will be a webassign quiz at the beginning of every class, which is normal. The questions are really easy and there are only 2-3 questions. Just pay attention and you'll do good in this class.
He is one of the worst human beings I have ever seen. Don't take his class. I am telling you.
The only reason I withdrew is because i changed my major and 209 wasn't required but LOVE THIS MAN. he's the best. best math teacher, i dont care what anyone else says. Hes tough and he moves fast, but if u sit there and pay attention, its literally fun, and I hate math. Hes funny as hell too. Tests are not curveballs, its what you do in class!
Prepared the class well for the final, and provided many tutoring sessions. Gave us plenty of material throughout the course. His midterms are always variations of questions from the book. His grading criteria are just the 3 midterms and a final. Overall great professor, he provided all the material for the class and prepared us well for the final
It is a math course so be prepared to study and work hard. He takes attendance every class and if you miss a lecture you will be behind. Overall a really good professor and gave us the material we need to pass
Professor Chun is tough but fair. Attend class, use the free textbook, and practice the problems - you'll do well. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for me in this course.
Technically attendance not mandatory but you're flat not going pass if you don't attend and learn how to solve the problems. Material itself is a Lot in a very short time but he's very good at explaining. Very accessible outside and after class. Also tells you exactly which questions will be on exams which is great
205 is a pretty easy class when compared with 201 but if you're not on top things, you will fall behind. He has a clear grading criteria and there's no homework. And most of his tests and work seems to be well thought out. For example, most of his problems never end up having some crazy solutions but they simplify down to a simple answer.
The class is relatively easy just you need to attend lectures or you will fall behind. There is HW on Excel and exams which are reflective of problems done in class. He makes material easy to understand if you don't pay attention you just asking to fail or get a bad grade. He's fair
get a different prof. very picky with what he likes to see but takes off EXCESSIVE points for omitting slight details. wants every problem answered using his words + methods which can be difficult, esp bc you don't even have the full period to take the test. you only have about ~50-60 mins and he immediately starts another lecture. YUCK.
Put in the work and take the initiative. Grab algebra by the you-know-what and you'll be fine. He yells sometimes, which can seem off-putting, but it's nothing personal. Do the workbook and textbook problems and always ask questions! He cared students did well and even went out of his way to give us example questions that he would solve. Solid.
I feel like he doesn't want to his job at all anytime anyone would ask a question about what he was doing he would give you blank stare and say *look board* without providing any explanations he would constantly cuss which doesn't really bother all that much but a little professionalism would be appreciated.his teaching methods are not that great.
