I don't think his a full-time prof. Teaches pretty well, and always available during office hours, and helpful.

Liu is a likeable professor and I think I would have enjoyed the class more if I had adjusted to his teaching style quicker. Lectures typically are chapter summaries. Bit frustrating when homework questions aren't gone over during class, so if your not good at econ math before, then its difficult to do well. Personally my TA helped me get through

I also had Prof Liu for ECN 521 and ECN 304. He is a great professor, and he really cares about his students. He's not going to give you an A, but if you put in some effort, you will do well. He has a sense of humor and has always been welcoming to questions and concerns.

I can't believe that people are rating him this low!! He is an amazing professor, and he knows the course material well! It is true that sometimes his lecture is a little bit challenging, but it's very helpful! If you put effort into class, and do the homework (homework and exams are quite the same), you will definitely get A or A-.

Eugene is awesome. His class and material is organized. His homeworks are straightforward and are graded fairly. His exams are right from notes and some textbook material but overall he is very clear on course objectives and organized presenting the material. If you show up and try you'll do well. He's very helpful and insightful.

I think he is a professor who is willing to help the students. Asian style teaching, but all in all I feel like I can learn many things. But I think TAs have a lot to improve, sometimes they can't even answer my questions very well.

He is a really good professor, everything in the lectures and homework are straight forward. As long as you go to the lectures and do the homework it you will do well. Homework's are graded on accuracy as well so keep that in mind, but its typically only 5 questions long per week. Overal really interesting class.

I like him a lot! He wants you to succeed and cares for you. He's open minded and is wonderful. Maybe he's not the best professor but his feedback is excellent and I am very comfortable with him.

I love Prof. Liu! His lectures aren't bad and he's pretty funny. His english is great and communication is never an issue. His tests are very fair and he always gives out a study guide. I signed up for tutoring sessions and they really helped. Definitely don't need the book. For practice questions, the books available at the library.

Professor Liu is a good professor, his class is just difficult, the grades received are not reflective of his teaching but rather how much work one puts in. The class average is a C+. 311 is a math heavy difficult class. Half the class dropped early on. He is very knowledgeable and teaches well. Go to class and do the work and more

Follow his lectures. TAKE NOTES. Do the study guides. You will get a B. He's knowledgeable, and connects concepts to real world phenomena like a champ. But damn does he make exams difficult. Notes are essential if you want better than a C. Generally a good guy as well. Meet with him during office hours and get points back on assessments.

Prof Liu gets a bad wrap but I think he was pretty good during covid. He made you attend 1 lecture, do 1 hw assignment, and 2 discussion posts weekly. He knows what he's talking about and is helpful if you ask questions, but be prepared to read the textbook, take notes and watch the videos each week if you want a good grade.

Took ECN 101 with him during Covid, and though it was online, the class was really enjoyable for me. I thought the work wasn't crazy, just read the textbook and took notes on it. If you actually do the work and participate a little bit, you'll do good. He explains concepts really well.

Class was not easy but ECN 304 has some interesting topics. Was just going to say his class is not easy but I did not remember his ECN 101 to be this horrible. He definitely cares about his students but I think he should be more accommodating. I just think he is not this horrible but I know his class is really hard so good job for hanging in there

Prof. Liu really cares about his students and is a great guy. If you show a lot of effort in his class, he is super understanding.

Professor Lui cares about helping students understand the material. He genuinely wants students to get engaged and learn new ideas. His classes are challenging, but you can learn so much from listening to him lecture.

He is a hilarious fun engaging professor even in a 200 person lecture, no free A, tests can be difficult if you are not prepared. While the tests are open note online you do have to study to learn the content, but the content is easier because he does a great job of explaining it. highly recommend and don't be scared of his rating.

Liu is a really nice guy who wants you to do well. If you show up to class, do your homework, and go to office hours you will be fine. Lectures can be boring but just take notes to stay engaged. He sometimes will reward you with a grade boost if you show enough effort. Tests are open note and online, and TAs often hold helpful review sessions.

His class is quite difficult to take because the concept is generally hard, but if you pay attention during class and prepare before the exam, you'll be fine. He gives us a lots of extra credits.

I had Professor Liu for ECN 101, and had a difficult time, but he was great for 311. It's much harder to teach in a larger lecture setting, and in the smaller setting of 311 he was great. He genuinely wants you to understand the material and is very helpful and accessible when meeting.

I think Mr. Liu is the best teacher in Syracuse. I took his ECN311 last semester. It was a difficult professional class. I was not confident at first. But Mr. Liu gave me hope and let me know that as long as I listen carefully in class and spend time studying, I won't get low marks. I love him he is the best teacher.

The overall experience with prof Liu is great. His lecture is a little old-fashioned and traditional, but he was willing to give a lot of examples trying to help you understand. Worthy to take and pass as an IDEA course if you study for the 3 non-accumulated exams.

Outside of three big tests, this class isn't too difficult. He gives weekly open-note quizzes and makes course topics engaging. Very lecture heavy. If you take notes and follow along in lecture you'll do fine on the tests.

Idk what's with all the bad reviews on this guy but I thought he was a great professor! Very funny and is good at responding to emails with questions/concerns. Tests are graded pretty heavily but as long as you pay attention even a little bit you'll be fine.

Super awesome professor. Works hard to make sure students know what is going on, and will go so far out of his way to support students in and outside of the classroom (for anything unrelated to the course, too). I wish I could take every class with him! Show up to class and be engaged, and you will do very well.

It was so easy. If you do the homework every week everything will be ok. For the "big" tests, you just need to study one day before and it's ok. The professor explains the class very slowly and likes to interact with students. I had already done econ before so it was boring for me but for beginners it can be interresting.

Liu is a great guy and super funny! Lectures are definitely not boring as he is constantly using humor and telling stories. Homework is easy as you have multiple tries to get the correct answers, but exams are fairly difficult if you are unfamiliar with this topic/ only taking it to meet a requirement as they are all in person.

Professor Liu is a great professor. He truly cares about his students, and tries his hardest to make lectures about a difficult subject entertaining and understandable. Exams are tough, but fair; as is the nature of the entire class. ECN 311 is tough and if you don't pay attention during the lectures, you won't get a grade that you're proud of.

Professor Liu's intro to micro class was great in my opinion. All three exams are multiple choice, and they are scaled so that your best exam counts the most, and your worst exam the least. He's a very approachable professor and if you participate he will try to learn your name. Although he does sometimes ramble, he is very knowledgable.

Great guy and class was pretty easy. A couple of multiple choice exams that weren't too bad, and overall prof Liu is good.
