Mrs. Brantley is funny and nice, she likes to tell stories and have discussions, but her class is a little boring :/ She goes by the Pearson.ppt which is super long & confusing-lots of info. I never understood what she was talking about it didn't really seem like she did either. She doesn't explain things very well. Hard class. Nice lady.
She is very nice and knows what she's talking about, but she'd rather spend class having story time with the moms than actually teaching. I got better grades on the tests when I skipped and read the book/PowerPoint myself than I did when I'd actually go to class. I'd recommend another teacher if available, but if not, it's possible to do okay.
Mrs. Brantley is the perfect person to teach Child Development. She helps you understand what she is teaching in the class by giving personal examples as well as letting you (the student) give examples as well. She likes getting personal with the students, but only if you so wish to get personal with her.I would recommend this class/professor to all.
As a person, she is very nice and fun to talk to. As a professor, she is very lacking. She spends too much time letting the students dictate how the lecture will go, the assignments/quizzes we have, and loves to have story time with the moms. Not to mention when she actually teaches she is very boring. You learn more studying on your own than going
Horrible, horrible, horrible. We were behind the entire semester causing us to blow through chapters in 20 minutes, she never once answered my emails, didn't know what her office hours would be until the day of, took 3+ weeks to upload any grades of any type, including the exams, was VERY boring, the list goes on. Take ANY ONE else if possible.
I dont know what everyone is talking about.I have her for the summer course and she is an awesome professor. She likes to talk about personal examples which make it easy to relate too.The negative people who reviewed probably were just expecting to get an easy A because its a psych class. This class isnt harder than any other.Mrs. Brantley is great.
Sweet lady. I didn't buy the book but it would help for this course.*the library has 3 on hand to use* study the material given in class. She mentions her family quite offend but that just shows she's passionate. I enjoyed her for the Summer'13 #FutureDr.Brantley
She hhas a great personality, my only real complaint is that she speeds through all of the imformatin!
-Pros: Pleasant person to interact with, explains material using real life situations. -Cons: gets distracted very fast, will be on one subject for 30 minutes, then flies through the rest of the material leaving students to study on their own! Takes forever to grade papers and answer emails. Read your book or you will not pass the class.
Great professor, I already took this class in high school so I know most of it but didn't do well. But she really clarifies everything very well and is a great person. Pretty lenient if you couldn't do the work for some odd reason. I would take her again for another course if offered. I know she does Child development as well so we'll see :).
I really enjoyed this class! She is so sweet and such a great teacher, however not the easiest tests! She did not give a study guide until the final (that was pretty hard) Overall, if you read the book you will get an A for sure! All we had were 5 in class assignments, 4 tests including final and 1 paper. Loved her so much!
I absolutely loved this professor. I took her for human development and maintained an A in her class the whole semester, and I went to abouta little more than half the classes. She is very clear in what she wants done with the essays she gives, zero to little homework, and she outlines the tests with you in class before you take them. Super nice.
Dr. Brantley is a wonderful women. She's very passionate about what she does and she knows her stuff and always willing to help and answer questions. However, she's not very organized. She hardly ever responds to emails, and she tends to get off track, tough tests too. So book is a must. Be prepared to read chapters all on your own!
i took dr. brantley i thought for the most aprt she was funny. Her lectures are right from the book but she makes them fun. every class was like a classroom discussion but she never moved a test back even if it meant rushing through a chapter. her test are mostly trick question so just study and READ!
Nice lady, however tests are tough and she often gets off track and you're stuck learning the materials all on your own. Study guides aren't worth filling out--hardly even relevant to the tests at all. The final was almost impossible. She asked trick questions on tests. CLP should be an easy A. I just wouldn't recocment her to my friends.
Over all she is very nice but takes for ever to put in grades. Her tests are difficult and make sure to get the book or this class will be ten times harder.
Really nice professor. Take your own notes and READ the chapter before class. If you need help with anything she is willing to help.
This class was pretty easy if you actually read and at least make an attempt at the information. You really don't even have to be in class all the time but I suggest you do because she sometimes gives random in class assignments. The tests are 50 questions long and challenging. I managed to basically fail the final and I still had an "A".
Dr. Brantley clearly knows her stuff, but she is very unorganized and takes FOREVER to respond to emails. She gets side tracked very easily and then rushes the rest of the chapters in attempt to stay on track. She's a very nice woman and very family oriented but don't expect to walk away with much.
Major disappointment. Rushes through the material and barely even teaches the material at all. Spends half of class talking about random things but STILL expects you to teach yourself all the material. Her study guides for exams are very comprehensive. BUT you have to teach yourself the material. Lots of work for an elective.
I really enjoyed being in her class. She was very funny and the topics were very interesting. Yes, there were long papers but they weren't too hard. I didn't need the textbook really, I only used it for reviewing for a test. She is very fast when it comes to lectures. I suggest printing out the power points. She takes too long to upload the grades!
This by far has been one of my favorite classes. I taught me a lot about people, society, life, and myself. Dr. Brantley is thorough and very knowledgeable of psychology. She definitely helped me. Her lectures are fun and she gives study guides. The only way you don't succeed is if you don't want to and you're a slacker.
She takes forever to reply to emails so if you are struggling you won't have much to go on from your professor. She is very nice and helpful.. at least when you can actually speak with her! She also posts the grades slowly. It's hard to track your progress not knowing how you're doing in class.
Mrs. Brantley is a amazing professor very understanding exams is on the lectures I would take her again
Excellent. prof
DR. Brantley is not that bad. As long as you stay on top of your work you will pass. The only thing is there is a lot of reading . However she gives study guides and they will help you on the test . She is understanding and gives extensions for test. she is slow at grading and may not respond to your emails though. I took her online and it was ok.
Dr. Brantley isnt that bad. As long as you stay on top of your work you will pass. She is slow at grading tho and may not respond to your emails which is very bad so if you are struggling you won't have much to go on from your professor *warning for those taking her online*. She does give study guides although they dont help much on the test.
She is disorganized. She never has her calendar in front of her and constantly gets confused on what's due and when it's due. She'll talk about a project that isn't due for another 2 months, with little information and then move onto the next. She is EASILY distracted. However, very loving woman who truly cares for all! She has a big heart
She's a sweet woman and you can tell she cares for everyone, but I would not take her again. She is very disorganized and her teaching style isn't the best. She goes off topic all the time. I get she's human, but she forgets A LOT of things. Very warm-hearted person, but teaching isn't her thing. Good luck if you take her!
She was just a bit random when it came to teaching; meaning she goes off topic a lot. She grades really slowly and doesn't respond to emails. She's pretty easy-going, it's just I feel like she lets students take advantage of her "niceness." She's VERY lenient. Very sweet, but needs a backbone (in a good way). She's a very loving person though
Love her! She keeps us super engaged. Her lectures are extremely interactive which makes the class so fun! The only problem I had were waiting on grades being put in. Either way she is super awesome and I would definitely take her again.
She is such a sweet and caring lady but I feel like she has too much on her plate. She changes due dates on literally everything and never knows when anything is due. She just reads straight off the power point but still very sweet.
She is really nice, but I think her class is extremely hard and time consuming. She never gives clear explanations and I study for hours for her test and can't seem to get above a B. Definitely wouldn't take her again. If you're not good at psychology do not take her.
Dr. Brantley is a nice person in general but as a freshman trying to adapt to the new college experience and also trying to deal with time management . I do not recommend you take her your first semester .She doesn't responds to email or phone calls. I truly recommend that no freshmen take her until until you good at your time management skills.
Ms. Brantley is very nice and super accommodating. She's a professional and she really tries to make sure her students do well. On our final we get to use four sheets of notes and she's letting me take it late because I had multiple exams that day. Very highly recommend her.
Do not take her online. She is the worst online teacher I've ever had. I've emailed her multiple times through out the semester because she was so unclear and I never once got a response. I've tried to reach her in every way I could think of and still couldn't get her to reply. The class is not too hard though. She's just not a great teacher.
She is a great and caring teacher, she does go off topic but she lets you use notes during some of the tests.
I had professor Brantley for my CHD2220 class and passed with an A. But i wouldn't recommend her to anyone. Although she is sweet and caring, she is very unorganized and goes off topic every 2 minutes. She post all her slideshows which is nice, but if you're taking this class for your major i wouldn't pick this professor.
Mrs. Brantley was a very wonderful prof! She does encourage conversations with students during the lecture about their childhood experiences, but sometimes this makes the lecture run long or the lesson get cut short because a topic lasted too long. Use your email to contact her because Canvas doesn't always work.
Very slow with posting grades. Test never match the study guides. Even when you could use notes on the test it didn't help. She likes to give WAQs when class attendance is low. I would not take in the future.
Excessive amount of reading. Goes months without a test and then gives a six chapter exam. Difficult tests. Hard to reach through e-mail. Not very thorough with directions. This class requires a lot of time management and critical thinking skills. If I could, I would go back and have not taken this class, especially since its not for my major.
Dr. Brantley is a fun, caring teacher. The only downside to a class with Dr. Brantley is unhelpful study guides and too many side tangents during lectures. Her classes are always very interesting, but can become stressful around test times if you rely solely on her study guides to prepare.
I found Dr. Brantley to be meticulous in her instructions and in her grading. She graded every assignment, except one, on the day she promised. I was honestly worried about taking her given all of the criticism I read, but I did not find any of it to be the case. I learned a great deal. The tests came right out of the reading. Read the book!!!
Easiest class I've ever taken. There are discussion boards once a week, 2 papers, a few quizzes, 2 exams + a final. DBs are easy. The quizzes can be retaken twice and they are the same questions both times. Papers are easy. She let us retake one of the exams at the end of the semester from home. Ended the class with a very high A.
I had her for CLP 1001 online and she's the worst teacher I've ever had. She switched due dates of tests and assignments multiple times. She's so unorganized and hard to reach. For our FINAL EXAM (!!!) , she made it due on Friday, then moved the due date to Wednesday at 6. Then, she moved a discussion and a paper due to almost the same time! Awful.
She is an excellent professor, very knowledgeable in her field, and you can tell she cares about her students. She can be disorganized at times, but so can the rest of us, she is easy to work with, and truly wants you to succeed. She is very understanding that "life" can sometimes happen in the event you miss a class.
Horrible professor. During lectures, she always goes off topic then crams information just so we can take the test. Slow grader, usually takes about 2-3 weeks to find out your test grade. Long study guides that don't help you for tests. Always blaming the hurricane for being behind even 3 months after the fact. Beware of choosing this professor!!
Go to class, Listen to lecture, and go over study guides, and you'll pass the tests. Also be aware that she gives random WAQ, sometimes it will be hinted at but mostly surprise.
Goes off topic and crams info for the test. Super long study guides that do not really help you on exams. Random WAQ's, some are hinted at but most are completely random.
Love her! Very interesting lectures. Very caring professor. Her only faults is that she does take a very long time to grade most things and tends to push back due dates constantly, and she tends to really cram right before tests. Study guides are kind of vague and not really helpful. But I do recommend her because she is an amazing person.
Professor Brantley is very unprofessional., she never answers emails and doesn't post grades in a timely manner. She wait until the last week of the semester to grade assignment which was due at the beginning of semester. I will not recommend anyone to take her class. Bad communication skills to have doctor in front her name.
Professor is unorganized and excuses herself for being unavailable to respond and also links posted nonfunctional. Professor is untimely, but expects students to be accountable to all deadlines even is it is her fault. Study guides are random outlines of chapters that are unclear and very confusing. Worst experience in an online course!
Shes an very amazing teacher, she gives extra credit. Just come to class and take notes . You will end up passing her class.
Very unorganized. Takes forever to grade anyting. Was not accessible through emails. Instructions on assignment could have been a lot clearer. Never kept up with her own deadlines but expected you as a student to keep up with the deadline. Poor communication poor effort. Unfortunately she's the only teacher that teaches this class at TCC.
Awful! Is the best word to describe! The lack of communication is extremely terrible. You won't get a response until it's too late. I had several questions throughout the semester and they weren't answered until AFTER the due date of the assignments and I will still penalized. Do not recommend. I never write on these things, but ... I had to!
She was a great professor to have. We had great discussions during lecture and she was always willing to listen to feedback. Very lenient concerning assignments and willing to change due dates/syllabus. Overall very sweet and a great teacher. She was clearly passionate about the subject.
Mrs Brantley is amazing, I took her human development class during the summer and Ive never learned more from a class just by going, Her lectures make you understand the material and she is very funny, She gives you 2 papers during the semester, One of them is short and the other one will leach you a lot about yourself, I would take her again
Love professor Brantley! She cares and she knows her stuff. She works with you and gives extra credit.. If you don't pass, you didn't want to!
Psychology of the African American experience has only been around for 2 semesters so it is a work in progress. Ended up not using textbook at ALL. great class discussions but happened too often and took up entire class period. Tests and assignments not hard. show up to class. Teacher personality is awesome!
Don't bother taking the class if it's early in the morning. She will arrive late and cancel class once you're there. It was hard motivating myself to get out of bed because of this. It really took my love of psychology and interest away. She is very knowledgable but lets personal things get in the way of your acquirement of concepts and learning.
This professors does not communicate or interact at all. All my emails have fallen on deaf ears. She has not graded any of the work that she has been posting since the semester has started, so there is no feedback on if were getting it right which begs the question will we even pass this class?! I am beyond frustrated at this time.
I took this class online and it was terrible. This professor forgot about our class multiple times. Our assignments would not get posted and then she would decide to skip them and I feel like I learned nothing. The work itself was easy but don't expect any help from the professor.
I have never been in a class where a teacher never gave feedback, never graded until the last day of the semester, and then disappeared for over a month. I was so confused. She seemed very unorganized in the beginning but I did not expect this at all. It was a game of guessing the whole semester. be prepared to wing it and hope fro the best.
Completely awful, makes you get the textbook and creates quizzes and exams that have nothing to do with anything you learned in that chapter. I kid you not I had to google every question to every quiz and exam we took because nothing you learn in the textbook will be on the quiz. She also does not respond to emails, ever.
Does not follow syllabus. Gives quizes on chapters randomly. Some weeks it's the ones you are working on, next time its completely different chapters already covered weeks ago or ones that you havent done. Posts assignments randomly. Sometimes on monday night, others on thursday. Hasnt responded to emails. Zero communication. Do not take.
Dr. Brantley is an amazing person, truly enjoyed taking her class. Every class felt like a therapy session. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get in contact with her outside of class. If you are looking for a professor who gets straight to the point do not take her class. But if you enjoy heartfelt conversations she is the right professor for you.
Difficult to get in contact with. Not very consistent with work/exams.
Sweet lady but an awful Professor. Horribly unorganized and almost impossible to get in contact with. Had a course schedule on her syllabus however constantly canceled assignments and exams without saying a word which was stressful because you NEVER know what to expect from her class. Don't even know when the final is because she is currently M.I.A
She never returned any phone calls, emails, or tried to communicate with me about the updating of my grade in her course. Im stuck with a grade that was not supposed to be on my transcript. Tried to contact her multiple times on this matter and hasnt gotten any response. Its Feb 2021 and Ive been trying since Sept 2020.
Professor Brantley was a great teacher and the class was not that hard either. She is very personable and funny and will always listen if you have something to say. However, it was very difficult to get ahold of her. I sent at least 4 emails that went unanswered and she often forgot about opening assignments that a number of students forgot to do.
Prof. Brantley was never accessible; no email responses or discussion responses. Months behind in grading. Couldn't rely on syllabus; class was weeks off and assignments/tests cancelled without notice. Would not post or contact students for week(s), would not post assignments. Textbook heavy but easy class. Stressful and would avoid/not recommend.
Do not recommend. Will not respond to comments on announcement posts, nor to emails. The syllabus sounds like the class will be clear, and it's not. Some assignments never ended up getting posted. It is the end of the semester, and I am still not sure what my grade will be, because she doesn't post grades.
loved discussing things during class, she really explained the material and helped you understand.
This Professor is extremely hard to get into contact with, she will not respond to emails or posts. She will not grade anything until the end of the semester and she will be late posting weekly assignments every week. Because she will post assignments so late you will end up not complete everything on her syllabus during the semester.
Absolutely HORRIBLE! The first week of class this lady was MIA. She would not respond to email, canvas, nothing! And she's been just barely present since then. You are really just teaching yourself in this class. But not even that because we're all just doing enough to get by at this point. Assignments are easy but I do not recommend her at all.
Do not take this professor. She is always late to class, never grades assignments, and goes off-topic on every single lecture. You literally have to teach yourself. She'll say that an exam is one week then keep pushing it back because she is behind in teaching. Not responsive to any emails. I think we are all just doing enough to pass at this point
I love Dr. Brantley. I actually do not have a difficult time getting a hold of her at all. She always responds to emails and even gives a phone number to contact her with as well. Class discussions are great and make learning the content easy . You can tell she is passionate about what she does and takes a real interest in her students.
Took CLP2140 Abnormal Psychology online. Her modules are set up with all assignments due each Sunday. Lots of Discussion Boards and quizzes. Videos required to watch for Discussion Boards are lengthy (most longer than 9 mins). Assignments are easy but not very specific. Quizzes are timed and not module specific.
Professor Brantley is an amazing teacher. Her lectures are very engaging, and the work is relatively easy. If you engage with the content, this class should be an easy A. She provides everyone opportunities to make up missing assignments! I would recommend her.
Professor Brantley was so great to learn from. Her lectures were always so open and she was always ready to explore and validate someone's opinion and also challenge our ways of thinking to be more open minded. Loved taking her class. 10/10
I enjoyed her class! Great professor, work was relevant to tests, and she was available to access.
She doesn't grade any of your assignments until after the semester is over. Very unclear. Recycles all assignments and tests from other professors. You can pass the class pretty easily but you won't know until after the class is finished if you passed or not. I can't believe this professor is able to do this poorly every single semester...
Was always late, didn't grade anything til the semester was over, pushed back pretty much every single deadline because she was late and couldn't finish lectures. An easy class but the stress of not knowing what you were going to get or if she would even walk through the door that day is enough for me. Didn't show up a few times and didn't tell us.
She wouldn't show up to class and failed to let any of her students know multiple times. Making us drive to school for her to not let us know she wasn't coming was very frustrating for the whole class but other than that, she was a very nice person and didn't give many assignments overall but she did give unannounced quizzes.
This has been one of the worst experiences I've had with a teacher. The class was pretty easy but she was very difficult to contact and communicate with. She doesn't respond well at all. She is a nice teacher but her email replying and help is not good.
Absolutely horrid communication. Cancelled class with less than 10 minutes before it started multiple times. Didn't show up on final exam day either with no prior announcement. Great teacher with the worst communication I've ever seen and it was so frustrating not knowing if the trip to campus was just going to be a waste of gas.
On multiple occasions, class had been canceled right before class was about to start. Professor Brantley seems like a very smart and knowledgeable person, but i have found it to be quite difficult to communicate with her. I have emailed her on multiple different occasions and I won't recieve a response unless I asked in person.
Loved this professor but took a point off because she didn't grade anything until the very last day of the semester. The lectures were interesting, had clear expectations, and gave a couple of pop quizzes. Only had one test and one paper. Overall it was an interesting and easy class but wish I got my assignments graded sooner.
TERRIBLE Does not grade until the end of the semester, put assignments out late, textbook heavy at the beginning, the final is literally 99 questions, she is hard to get in contact with if I could give her a zero I would.
Dr. Brantley was just okay. I received a A+ in her class, so I really can't complain that much. Be aware, though, she gives a lot of work and is hard to get in touch with via email or Canvas. Unless you are independent and naturally good at school, don't take her class.
Professor Brantley is very nice and a good professor when she shows up. The problem is, she isn't there a majority of the time. She cancels class on a weekly basis with no notice. I would drive 45 minutes to this class and show up to a note taped to the class door that class was canceled that day. Not a lot of homework. Quizzes are easy.
Awesome teacher! She has inspired me to keep my track in Psychology, very engaging lectures and she cares about what she is teaching. Easy to get an A in the class and there's not a lot of homework. I do suggest to check canvas before coming in to make sure she didn't cancel class. Other than that would definitely recommend this class to anyone!
Very easy class with all online assignments and tests, no Honorlock. The only issue was pop quizzes announced in class with passwords, so try not to miss. She canceled class often—at first with early emails, but later we'd only find out after arriving, which was frustrating.
She does like to tallk kind of fast about the topics, but she makes sure it's engaging. There is a lot of notes but you don't have to write them. A few "pop quizes", a paper, some online assignments and the exams you take on your own time. Sometimes won't tell you that she's not there. She balances a lot so it might take her some to grade.
Good lectures and classroom participation but heavily relies on slides and textbook materials. Very poor attendance; arrives late nearly every class, weekly absences, sometimes without warning or reason. Does not respond to emails. Requires expensive online textbook which is required for a few assignments but costs $150+. Pretty easy class.
Overall easy class, one paper throughout the semester and 2 test with no honorlock. You have to get the textbook which is pretty pricey and barely used. A few pop quizzes which you have to be in attendance to get the code. Frequently late to class but it is an easy A. I would take her again.
