Great teacher. Study powerpoint and outlines, and an A is guaranteed
No Comments
best science teacher in the world. makes the class interesting and fun. easy to listen to the lectures. willing to help you if you ask for it.
Really great professor. Fairly easy class and the test are easy if you pay attention in class. She puts all the power points online, which is really helpful. Overall a very fun class, she is a really good professor, I highly recommend her!
She is the best teacher everr... her class is very enjoyable. I love her lecture. she is a very easy teacher. Just show up for class and take notes and you'll get an A
Professor Duong was extremely helpful with her notes where it is easy to comprehend. Make sure to attend class regularly because there are extra credit assignment without you being informed about it. What more is, it is better to sit in the front than in the back because you are more focused. :) easy A for me :D
Great teacher! She's very helpful especially during office hours. I had her for KNES210 and her notes were clear and precise. She uses good examples and cracks in a couple jokes here and there. It was a fun class for me. Pretty tough but as long as you study you should be fine!
She is capable of lecturing the subject because she really knows the subject very well. As long as you attend the class, take notes you will pass the class. The study guide u get from Blackboard every chapter is the key bible u need to A the test. I got A+ :-)
extremely strict when it comes to grades and any extra credit
The material itself isn't easy, but Prof. Duong does her very best to make everything simple and clear. She gives several opportunities for extra credit, which always helps. Attendance is not required, but if you want to pass you MUST show up. The text book is not used. Her exams are right off her lectures and power points; you must study!
Prof Duong is a great teacher who is very helpful. Everything powerpoint. VPL fabulous!
Great teacher and her pp slides are very helpful. If you miss one class youre very lost. I suggest you dont miss any classes. Exams are tough and tricky. Dont study the day before the exam.
Loved this class! Cindy really organizes the information in a way thats easy to understand. Its a lot of hard work, but definitely worth learning. Tests are tough, but doable....just study hard and visit her in her office for clarification. Friendly professor and I would recommend her to anyone!
She is the best! Prof Duong is EXTREMELY clear and helpful. She makes the subject easy to comprehend and fun to learn. I am actually considering majoring in biology because of Prof Duong. If you have to take this class, make sure to get her!
Straight forward. Memorize class notes/study guide for exams. Papers were time consuming but okay. Attendance needed to pass the class (she adds A LOT of info to the power points in class). All in all, I learned a lot from her and I got a pretty good grade.
The best teacher ive had at csuf. She made me want to learn which is shocking. she makes everything so clear and relates it to real world so you remember it. Must study and memorize EVERYTHING exactly right though. she gives extra credit and will do anything to help a student.
Cool but strict teacher if u act like high school kids.... Easy class and pretty straight foward notes and assignments
Her lectures are all over the place. She talks soooooo soft. even seating upfront, you can't hear it. And when it comes to testing, her questioning is twisted makes u doublethink if its a trick question or not. She's a nice professor but lacking style. Grades based on several test and minute hwk.. like two homeworks
You NEED to take her. She's very nice, helpful&easy going. She makes the class so interesting&fun. Never a dull moment, IMO. Very easy class if you attend. Do the study guides&you'll get an A! 2 papers that the department gives&grades but she curves it. Gives extra credit. Rarely any homework too! TAKE HER!!!!
Professor Duong's lectures was always interesting to learn about and only once in awhile does she give out homework. They're just basically worksheets and study guides for the tests. There are two papers and two tests for the entire semester. She was neither hard nor easy & in order to get a good grade, you would have to study.
She is great professor. Really carers about the students & always tries to help out mentioning office hours & offering extra credit. Just go to class, pay attention, take good notes, & study & you'll do fine.
Shes a great teacher.. She is well informed on what she is teaching. She just goes into detail about everything which gets hard when it comes to tests. I would take her again if her test were easier.. but i learned a lot but i will never take her class ever again
show up to class, take really good notes, ask questions when necessary, go over notes at home and you should be fine for her tests. keep in mind, however, that her tests can be on the stupidly picky side--but she usually tells you when she's going to be picky beforehand.
She is obviously very knowledgeable on the subject and she cares a lot about the subject. She has a lot of experience in this field. I highly recommend her. Although her exams are not easy A's, she is still a great professor. Pay a lot of attention, and try not to miss lecture, although it is not mandatory to attend. No fear if you're a first year!
Great teacher, uses power points, few extra credit points, gives study schedules, etc. I rarely studied/crammed right before the test, and the lowest I got on a test was a 78, and passing with a B.
She knows what shes talking about but is a little unorganized while she lectures, but everything she talks about correlates to the power points. Go to her office hours and shes more than willing to help. If you actually put in time to study, its not difficult to get an A, and she gives extra credit.
Great teacher, interesting lectures, can be funny, study guides, attendance isn't mandatory but go regularly - lots of notes, tests aren't easy you do have to study but you'll do fine, go to office hours - helpful, one extra credit assignment, some extra points here and there. Get her class - highly recommended
Great professor even though her tests are uncharacteristically hard for multiple house she's a great teacher made stuff interesting and was by far my favorite class this year.. And I'm not even a Biology major haha
Awesome professor. She engaged the class in a way that very few professors do. She's very knowledgeable in the subject and always there to help students pass her tests. Her tests do require a lot of studying time but it is very possible to get an A in the class.
She makes biology really interesting. Her tests are hard and you have to study. I hate the way she words her questions on tests. If you pay attention, do the work, then you'll be fine. Even though her tests are hard, its not hard to earn a high grade. She's an awesome teacher.
GREAT TEACHER! However you do have to work hard in order to keep a good grade because at times exam questions can get a bit tricky. The first exam is multiple choice with choice like (a & e) or (a b only ) you must really know the subject well. Tests are curved and there is random attendance days she counts as points. TAKE HER GREAT TEACHER!
made the class interesting and as fun as she possibly could. Good 210 teacher for sure!
Great teacher! There are many details you have to remember but she makes it very easy and almost fun :)
She is an Amazing Professor. Take her class if you have the chance! So helpful and wants everyone to pass. Test are very tricky but if you study then you will have no problem.
Her tests are pretty difficult but she curves the scores. All of what is on her tests are from her lectures so do not miss anything she says. Overall, she is fair and understandable.
Great teacher, really enjoyed taking her class. She is very knowledgable of her subject and is always willing to help. Do the study guides and don't lag on studying, even though her tests are multiple choice their tricky.
She teaches subject very well. If you attend class, pay attention, stay on top of study and lecture guides then passing is no problem. Tests can be difficult, but straightforward.
Uses powerpoint to teach. She has study guides to follow when teaching. 20 pt extra cred this semester. Attendance worth 5 points each time she does it randomly. 1 research project. Tests are difficult and different for a 101 class. No interest in bio whatsoever and got a C. Good class for study bugs otherwise theres probably an easier teacher.
Really hard class!!! Tests are super difficult and she doesn't give half credit for answers. A lot of powerpoints, talks quickly, sometimes made faces at questions, not enough office hours, etc. if there's someone easier take them!
Her class, while interesting, is very hard. She makes herself available with her office hours, but even then you aren't going to do much better than an 89% on tests. She throws a lot of questions at you that she barely covered, so write down everything she says. On the plus side, she's really nice and Knowledgeable.
4 multiple choice tests (?), a final (non-cumulative), and 1 research paper. Tests were extremely hard. Do her study guide ahead of time and you'll do well on tests. Paper seems difficult, but totally doable - easy points. Takes attendance often. Extra credit given randomly, so show up everyday. She seems mean at first, but pretty funny. Take her!
Great Teacher! yes, her tests are difficult, but she presents you with all the material needed to pass. Start working on her study guides and worksheets when given and you'll do fine on the exams. difficult course, but it's definitely possible to receive an A.
Tests are extremely difficult if you don't study the way she tells you to. You will not get the grade that you want if you study the night before an exam. Show up everyday, she gives extra credit on random days.
Too difficult for a 101 class. She will punish the entire class if students are off task by holding curves, extra assignments, or no extra credit. The tests are misleading and the curves usually end up being only about 4-9% class average being low 60's. You have to write down everything she says because the book isn't used at all.
Definitely one of the better teachers at Fullerton. Not going to lie, her 101 class is very difficult but I'd absolutely recommend it if you're interested in actually learning something. Her tests are not tricky nor misleading, they just require you to take what you learned and put them together.
Had her 8AM class. She has good teaching methods, provides any clarifications if asked. The class is not hard unless you slack off completely. The textbook was only needed for writing the paper. Attendance is taken at random after the first weeks of class and you get credit for attendance. Excellent teacher as expected.
She is a great professor!!!! Take her!! She makes biology simple and understandable with her examples. There are several extra credit opportunities. Tests are tricky but she curves them.A great class, truly learned a lot.
Duong is a great teacher! She is extremely helpful, if you ask her for help. Her are test are extremely difficult. If you are not a good test taker DO NOT take her. She curves the test and very little to no homework. No book needed.
Great professor..It took a lot of studying to get an A but she made it clear what would be on the tests. Took graded attendance randomly..book was never used. I'm not a fan of biology but she definitely made this class stimulating!
speaks softly at times. Constantly changing from slide show to study guide to just notes on the board. Can be mean at times. Her tests are difficult and very little extra credit is offered.
Great professor if you actually want to learn. All her lectures are interesting and relate to actual information you can use for your health & life. The class is not too hard. Random attendance checks, 1 simple writing assignment, and very few HW assignments. Tests can be tricky but her lectures give you all the information you need and she curves.
So this class wasn't too bad but I unfortunately got a C-. But the reason I did is because I did extremely poorly on the tests. I suck at biology but most people seemed to get a B or higher. You don't need the text book, she says she wants us to have it to be prepared about what she will talk about in class. She gives a lot of extra credit!!!
Not an easy A. You have to study and know the material to pass the test. She's really nice and makes everything super clear. I recommend this professor
Great professor! Teaches biology really well and knows what she is talking about! But this class is not easy she gives you all the material clearly but you have to study it.
Her exams are difficult. However, if you take notes in class of everything she says, then you can pass the exams. Her research paper is also a bit hard, but nothing in her class is impossible. Final not accumulative. passes around attendance sheet, give somewhat extra credit. DON'T BUY BOOK.
She was nice but her tests were hard. She does curve the tests tho but still hard, the highest grade for one of her tests was 84 but she curves up so she added 16 points to everyone. If she didn't curve her exams, I would totally FAIL. Sometimes her exam questions are kind of tricky and a little confusing. She has interesting lectures too.
Great professor! Her lectures are always interesting and her study guides are extremely helpful. She curves grades which was helpful, but I kind of slacked off so it was my fault I got a B. I didn't really use my text book except for my paper. Other than that, I absolutely loved her class.
Random attendance taking... super helpful study guides I wish I had done. Tests are kind of hard. Just study two days before tests and you're good. Non cumulative final>>> rarely used the textbook. Wish I hadn't slacked off I would've gotten a B at least
She was a very fun teacher that opened my mind to the interesting concepts of biology in our daily lives:) although short tempered I defiantly recommend Duong! She gives detailed study guides for all her tests. show up to class often and her class is not hard to pass!
Hard tests. By no means an easy A. Attendance is random and for points when it is taken. Semi interesting class with very little book use... I'm talking MAYBE once.
Hated bio before taking this class; loved it after. Professor Duong is very nice and her lectures are super clear and interesting. Easy to pass with good notes, easy A with a bit of studying. Don't buy the textbook!!
Prof Duong is the best professor I have had in my entire CSUF career. She provides DETAILED study guides/slides and is incredibly helpful. Her exams are curved. She is insanely organized, your notes will look great. If you attend class and do the work you will get an A! Such a great class, I wish I could take it again! Take this class!
Clear teaching and good study guides but she is not understanding at all. Not an easy A at all.
Best science class i have taken. She is a difficult teacher just because she actually makes you think! Her test are kind of hard so STUDY! NO joke!! study slides and study guide!! Her lessons are always so interesting and fun! ask questions!!!!
To my surprise, I really loved this class! Yes, her tests are more difficult than other GE classes, but if you study then you will do well on it. If you don't study, then you're pretty much screwed.. unless you have really great memory. She takes attendance randomly so I recommend you going to all her classes. She does goes over A LOT in one class.
I looked forward to going to class every day! She was very clear and super organized. Go to class every day, listen carefully, and take good notes***. Random attendance. Do the extra credit bc it'll definitely help your grade. Also, book is not necessary unless you want more clarification. I highly recommend her!!
I have to say "WoW". She is an absolutely amazing professor that i have seen. Her notes is super organized and she set up everything for students to prepare them for the exam. Exam is not easy, therefore, don't expect an A by studying the night before the exam. Take her, you wont regret it.
the best professor that ive ever had at CSUF. truly amazing person & teacher & will clarify anything that you ask her to. makes EVERY SINGLE THING that you learn about relevant to your everyday life, which is what i loved the most. genuinely cares for her students. everything is from the lecture DOES NOT use textbook bc she wants you to save $!!
Professor Duong is a very nice lady. She knows what she is doing and she is prepared every day. She gives out a study guide for her test but I have to admit they are complicated. STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
I never liked biology myself, but prof Duong made me stay awake during lectures. She is passionate about what she teaches and is willing to help you out. Her office hours are only 1 day a week for about 2 hours. Best way to contact her is email. Her grading system is quite fair. She is amazing.
Bio was hard. On top of her lectures, reading the book, and googling videos I barely passed with a C. She is a sweet lady who loves what she teaches, but its very hard when it comes to the test. She gives 4 answers that are choose the best answer questions. Your grade is only based off the 3 tests and an essay that is fairly easy to write about.
She's a smart lady, but it was a difficult class, and she talks very quite. Wouldn't recommend at all.
Prof Doung is okay. You actually have to come to class, take notes on study guides she already provides, and do the practice exams questions that she gives you. She expects allot becuz she gives you a lot of materials to prep for exams. I always went to off hrs and she helped me allot. Take her only if you want to learn.
I had Cindy for Bio 101 as a freshman and Biol 210 as a junior. Yes, the style of her tests is hard, but it helped me with other classes. For 101, I had a D on the first test and aced the next test by going to office hours for help. She cares so much about her students. Her 210 class is tough: 3 lecture tests & 2 anatomy tests. Loved her!!
This a tough class in general so from the start develop good habits of studying the Anatomy Packets before you start class because the test will be there before you know it. If you fall behind in the first test go see her in her office hours because she is so helpful and wants you to success for the whole semester. Great Professor to know.
hardest class I took last semester, really makes me mad that she makes this 101 class so hard. tests are super hard even if its so much material to learn in so little time. I enjoyed most of material taught and really felt like I learned but I hated how the tests were and she's a tough grader on paper and homework. NOT AND EASY CLASS or PROFESSOR
This class is very difficult. Duong is very intelligent and gives great lectures. Although I feel like I learned a lot in class, I think the tests were way too hard for what the class was. They were very tricky and you basically needed know every single thing we covered to pass with a good grade. I enjoyed the class and studied hard and a got a C.
Great professor!! Super funny and gives VERY informative lectures that you must attend in person in order to pass exams. Her questions on exams are meticulous topics gone over during lecture, so pay attention and hold on to every word she says! Make sure to use her study schedule she sends via email. Got As on every exam thanks to it!
This was an interesting course. The tests are tough. She does provide detailed study guides which made it easy to take notes.
Her teaching style isn't very effective in my opinion. Class is structured more like a high school class than a college class. Hard tests, but fair. Not a very understanding or well respected professor at all.
Her lectures are straightforward, but exams are really hard (not like the lecture). Provides note to follow along and study guide.
Professor Duong gives good lectures and you actually learn from her class. She does give weekly study guides that you need to print out and her lectures are the answers to the study guides. The test are very detailed and you really have to know the information to pass them. She is a very good teacher just really study for the tests!
Learned so much from the lectures. You must come to class and listen carefully in order to take detailed notes. Her exams are tough but manageable if you have precise notes and took time to study. She knows what she is teaching well and incorporates her life experience in her lectures. Her exams were stressful but I would take her again.
Funny, devoted, passionate, cares about her students' success, makes time for those who seek her help, treats each student with respect & empathy, provides study guides, makes it possible for you to get an A. Attendance matters, many video clips, Got help from Prof. Duong, tutors at the University Learning Center and Opportunity Center. Got an A.
I took this class in Fall 2015. It will be a busy class for you, because there will be many short assignments. However, 50% of them count as extra credits. Attendance isn't mandatory, but can be counted as extra credits as well. Pay close attention to her study guides. Exams and final were based off them. Please take her if you can!
She's so sweet/funny and cares about her students. Made me love the class! Print out PP slides & study guides she makes for each of the sections; really helped for note taking & studying. Go to class & write EVERYTHING bc tests are really specific (she curved). 1 essay, attendance and participation points, small assignments. Was able to get a B!
Pretty clear grading criteria. 4 exams including the final which is non cumulative. She gives very detailed lectures. I suggest you print out the PowerPoint slides that she provides online and write notes on those. Also gives short assignments randomly but usually help ur grade more than hurt it. 1 essay and extra credit opportunities. Doable class
Best bio professor ever! She really cares about you and your grade. Her lectures are so funny and interesting that i forgot i was taking a bio class for the summer session. Her study guides are key to passing her class. Always participate and ask questions because it will help you understand the topic better. TAKE HER CLASS!!!
She is pretty organized when it comes to handling her classes, however she is the rudest person I have ever met. All of my professors were understanding whenever I would voice to them my difficulty keeping up with classes but she was not understanding. The tests are difficult and the in class lectures do not prepare you for the tests. Dont take her
Professor Duong is kind hearted, generous, compassionate, and dedicated. I don't know how she grades approximately 300 students' work (approx. 100 students x 3 classes back to back). Her work ethics is award worthy. She doesn't stop at teaching the BIO101. She shares life lessons and provides guidance for time management to reduce stress. A+++
Excellent teacher. Her lectures are well organized and she provides study guides for each section and a separate study guide that is specific for each test. Show up to class, take notes and a complete the study guide for each test will get you an A.
She's a super cool professor that really cares about you. All you do in lecture is go over maybe 2 or 3 questions from the study guide. She cares about her students and their health.
Good teacher, rude person. Her tests are hard because she tries to trick you with "All answers are correct, A & B are correct" etc. She curves her tests, provides extra credit, and answers your questions. She does seem to care about her students, but I did not have a good experience with her because she was rude to me when I approached her.
I was dreading taking Biology because I didn't do well in it at all in high school. But I have to say, after taking professor Duong's class, I actually LIKE Biology. You have to go to every class, but she makes the information so interesting and applicable to you that you actually want to go.
If professor Duong were on yelp she would have 5 stars and 4 dollar signs. She's a great professor and made biology fun
She is a good teacher but rude person. I hate biology but she made class pretty interesting. Her exams are hard and tricky, she does curve them. Offers extra credit. Hands out homework. She sends too many emails, which annoyed me.
She is a knowledgeable person! Prof Duong's lectures were interesting and you learn a lot from this course. She provides sg for you to take during lectures. You must attend class! Don't buy the book it's not necessary. The tests were tricky but at least she curves them. She also provides a lot of extra credit so take them!
Lectures are interesting but don't sometimes show up on the test. Assigns homework and is heavily graded. Expects you to know everything in detail. It's more like a pre-medical class rather than an "Introductory" class.
I took her class this spring term. Her lecture is very interesting, but you will miss a lot of information if you skip the class. Her tests are tricky and detailed, but she will curve.
Really awesome prof who made bio interesting. Extra credit makes up for super harshly graded hw. tests are very tricky: A, B C (two of the above), D(all of the above). Makes the subject relevant and includes personal stories. Curved my 89 to an A-
Professor Duong was amazing. She gives you all the tools you need to succeed and there really is no excuse. She curves the tests, gives you points for just sitting in class, gives you notes to print out, gives study guides for every test, emails some test questions, and is there to help every step of the way. I wish I could write more. TAKE HER.
Take her class!! I sucked at biology in high school but Professor Duong made biology so understandable and relatable. I didn't use the book at all bc I just studied off lecture notes since her tests were based off of her lectures. She was very caring and always updated my class on what was going on.
Super sweet. A lot of material to learn. You will be fine if you study weeks in advance
She is so nice! I had her fall semester of my freshman year. I had trouble transitioning to college, so I didn't do too well on her first test. BUT i did get b's on the rest, including the final. Study like 2 weeks before an exam and you should be fine. REALLY TRY ON YOUR HOMEWORK. Used the book to refresh my memory before tests.
Very knowledgeable on the subject, uses personal anecdotes to make the subject stick. If you skip, you won't pass. If you don't take good notes, wont pass. Take advantage of extra credit. Tests (not final) are extremely hard they are very very detailed. Occasionally gets off topic in lecture. An a is possible even with a few mediocre test grades.
She made Bio very interesting and relatable. Always go to class because the tests are pretty much based on lectures. You don't need to buy the book. Take detailed notes and study them hard. The tests can be tricky but they are curved in the end. Overall, really enjoyed the class.
Love her! Not difficult assignments or tests but you must be on your game from day one. A lot of people warned me against taking her but I actually really liked her as a person and a teacher. She also offers a lot of EC so take advantage!
Cindy Duong is the nicest professor I have had at CSUF. She really cares about her students and puts in the effort to get to know her students. Her lectures are amazing. She throws in some jokes here and there to liven up the class a bit. She really knows the subject well and does a great job teaching it too. Great professor, definitely recommend.
Professor Duong was an awesome professor! She gives you the study guide right away and uses the study guide as a guide for her lectures. It is a super easy class to follow. The test were a little difficult but not to bad. You do not need to purchase the textbook because she tells you everything you need to know for the test in her lectures.
Professor Duong is the perfect professor if you are scared of biology. She has a ton of life experience and it applies to lecture. There are two midterms, one final, some homework, and participation points. Don't skip lecture, it's interesting and everything is on the test. There is no textbook required at all. Tests can be hard, though.
I loved Professor Duong, I really wish I took her for Biology because she's so great at explaining the material. Her way of teaching is my favorite, she gives study guides at the beginning of a new chapter and it follows along with the lecture so she basically answers all the study guide questions with us. Study and you'll do great!
Her class was intresting. Exams are pretty hard as there's so much content, but if you print out the study guides and study with her study schedule, you should be fine. She does give extra credit which is always great.
I took Cindy for BIO101/KNES210. The rundown of her class is she gives you a blank study guide, you are responsible to collect the information during lecture, she does reviews and asks if you need anything to be repeated. Studyguides are exactly the exam the only way she tricks you is having the "2 answers are true" or ALL ARE TRUE. She's good!
We had 4 exams and 2 writing quizzes. It is a lectured based class, so if you don't like reading a textbook, this class is for you! She makes bio 101 interesting and she is funny! Offers extra credit (15 points). Test can be difficult, but she allows you to record her lectures which really helped me study for the exams! Favorite class of year!
Professor Duong excelled in teaching biology. She's very kind and has great lectures. 2 writing quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final pretty much up your grade. I do recommend you study b/c those exams do tend to be difficult despite the simplicity of the information. Overall a great select and highly recommended amongst other students.
I hate science classes but this one was pretty easy! Professor Duong is very clear about what is on her tests and provides study guides for each one. She also gives you plenty of opportunities for extra credit, so don't pass those up!
I absolutely loved the way she taught the class. Her study guides were helpful and motivated me to study!
Professor Duong was a great instructor. She gives you study guides so you can fill them out along the way as she lectures. Exams weren't super difficult if you go over her study guides. No books needed because her exams were all based on her lectures. Great professor but she can be rude to others.
Absolutely love and respect her. Took her S18 and the class was so great I didn't mind coming in on Fridays just for her. gives study guides that act as notes + SG for test. passes around sign in sheet on random days. Teaches topics that are RELEVANT, informative, and INTERESTING. One of the smartest, funniest, and genuine professors ive ever had.
This a professor that really cares about her students. Her lectures are very clear to follow because of study guides and outlines given. Offers extra credit and I didn't think tests are that hard. Hard to catch up if you miss class but she is really nice. She was my bio 101 professor and I ended with an A even though I'm bad at science in general.
Professor Duong is amazing. She keeps lectures really interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but you should attend to make sure you get the highest grade possible. She gives you study guides that she bases her lectures off of and then everything that's on the study guide is on the tests. Amazing class. 10/10
She is extremely caring for her students. Her lectures are amazing and educational. I love professors that care and love to teach and Professor Duong did an excellent job doing so.
Professor Duong was amazing! She curates her lectures in hopes that students will remember the information and use it later on in life. It isn't some typical, boring high school biology class. She genuinely cares about her students and their well-being. Super fun and interesting lectures.
Lectures are easy to follow. She gives study guides every week for each lecture to fill out while taking notes. Class is an Easy A, but I failed to show up a couple times resulting in the grade I received. Make sure you show up when she takes attendance. Offers some extra credit.
Professor Duong is very organized with her lessons. She provides you with study guides and notes that make it easy to know the content (specifically for the exams). Majority of the important details are discussed through lessons in class even though she has power points so skipping class is not recommended. Provides free PDF for textbook.
Really funny professor. She makes the textbook be free and found online. She gives you the study guide for the tests and her lectures are based on those study guide questions so it's really easy to study for the tests.
Such an amazing professor! Funny, kind, and keeps lectures interesting. Your tests are based on the notes you take in class, so be sure to go to class or have someone send you the notes always. This course was biology that's actually interesting, not just about cells and stuff like that. 10/10 recommend.
She has lectures every class and does not post them. Make sure to take detailed notes.
Writing quiz grading criteria unclear. Tricky tests. It's a struggle out here.
This class requires you to take good notes. Exams ask VERY detailed information. Materials heavy. Very tricky. However she does give out 20 points extra credit and sometimes she curves the tests. She has fascinating topics, thats a plus but her writing quiz criteria is unclear. No textbook required. Still recommend her for Bio101.
Amazing prof, really cares about the subject and her passion shows. Study guides are used as notes so the exams are easy to study for, but there is a lot of material to go over so make sure to take time studying. 2 writing quizzes, 3 exams and a final. A couple online quizzes. Randomly checks attendance so make sure to always go. I def recommend!
Hard class but amazing teacher. she one of those professors thats just naturally funny. definitely helps makes up for the super hard tests. you gotta definitely work for the grade but she makes sure to explain it all well in the lectures. but if your looking for a class where you dont have to show up often this isnt the class for you.
Gives points for attendance. Her textbook is free. She creates study guides for her test, so it is very easy to study for them. No homework really, just alot of studying. She has a couple extra credit opportunities. This class is an easy pass. Pretty interesting class.
Professor Duong is one of the best professors I've ever had. I could tell how much she cares for her students and she made an effort to help me many times. Her class and exams are based on lectures and worksheets but I found her teaching style very easy to follow and her lectures very engaging. Pay attention in class and you will pass!
Her class is very goood! You learn soo much stuff as you will view life differently. Her study guides help for tests. Just sucks cause the tests are tricky different than the study guide. Just study & take lots of notes as you can for her class and please do the extra credit! She replies to emails quick and for sure uses Titanium.
Tests are tricky and requires you to remember very specific details throughout her lecture. The study guide covers most of the information that would be on the test well. Two writing quizzes throughout the semester that she gave little information on how to study for and how she would grade them. A lot of extra credit opportunities.
This professor was very nice. Took attendance on certain days. The exams were difficult, but if you studied you would be okay. Allows you to look at exams for feedback. Always answering questions.
Best bio professor I have ever had. I usually get super low grades for bio and Im an A student but her lectures were so interesting and well/ clearly taught that things just stick to your mind. Study guides are amazing. Memorize them and you will get 80% on the tests. A lot of extra credit opportunities.
I had this professor about 3 semesters ago and although her lectures can be a little boring, she really gets you to practice the information a lot. Because of her, I was able to do all my other KNES classes with ease. The way she taught made the information really stick. Take her if you really want to know about anatomy and physio. Don't be lazy.
Professor Duong is honestly a really great teacher! very understanding and will go out of her way to make sure you get the grade you deserve as long as you work for it! Class is mandatory. attendance taken every class. Has students print out study guides for lectures. Study guide is KEY to passing tests. Exams can be tricky, but overall reccommend!
Honestly, she knows her stuff. She is amazing when it comes to lectures, because she pauses to ask if there questions, instead of just zooming by like most professors these days. This is to say, she doesn't hold your hand, but is there to help if you need it. Amazing professor, but you do have to work for your grade! Take her!
Definitely enjoyed her organization in class and even online. She makes everything clear and sends multiple messages to clarify. Her tests can be a little difficult, but if you study and take time to learn you should be pretty good. Provides study guides that are basically what is on the test and what you should study. Definitely recommend.
we had to switch from in person to online very abruptly due to covid-19 and she was super caring of her students. her class was asynchronous but idk if she'll change that. we watched pre-recorded lectures in which she is very detailed. write everything she writes and fill out all the questions on the study guide. she gave multiple tries for quizzes
Professor Duong made it an easy class by having engaging lectures. She's very helpful and provides a lot of resources for her students to succeed and understand her class. She gives a review sheet for every chapter so you can follow along without a problem. This class was surprisingly interesting. Definitely take her class!
Professor Duong had useful lectures, but her exams which were worth a lot, were extremely difficult and the class average was about 65% for all of them. She did not curve if the median was over 75. Her MCQs consist of 5 answers, saying things like two answers are correct or all answers are correct and she did not give any partial credit.
GO TO CLASS! Her lectures on zoom are content heavy & she talks fast. Provides study guides each lecture so make sure you write EVERYTHING down. Answers every question & offers EC throughout the sem. Her tests are what messes everyone up so make sure you know the material inside out. Learned a lot about diseases, reproductive systems, cancers, etc
Her exams can have 22 questions but are overall out of 100 points. Not just that but you really have to go more in depth with the lectures because her tests can be very tricky. There are a lot of fill in the blanks which take a lot of our time and are worth a lot of points for ONE question.
Class was mandatory. She tends to talk fast during lectures but her presentations are organized and she goes into a lot of details and goes back to answer any questions students may have. Tests are time consuming, can be 20 questions but takes a while to complete AND ADD UP TO 100 points. Didn't study at all but still passed because of extra credit
This class was crazy hard for no reason. She makes the exams so difficult and expects you to remember every word verbatim from lectures. She goes fast just so she can squeeze in more content. She's condescending when students ask questions.
Professor Duong class was fun, intense, and lecture heavy. If you pay attention and go to class you will learn a lot but she does make you work for your grade. She gives 4 easy extra credit opportunities, no homework, the wording of her tests can be tricky so be aware. She gives study guides for tests which is useful and records her lecture on YT.
Please, do not take Cindy Duong as your professor. Her tests are ridiculously hard, even though they are open notes. There isn't much homework at all, so you'll be graded by a handful of exams and quizzes. She does offer a small amount of extra credit, however. Very condescending too. Avoid at all costs if you can.
Professor Duong is a good teacher and the lectures give you a really good understanding of the topic you are learning. Nothing is a surprise as she constantly keeps canvas updated and is a fair teacher. That being said I would not take this class if it wasn't online as she allows "open note" for her online students and not in person students.
Very funny and straightforward. Tests were pretty difficult but we were allowed to use notes. Lectures were always posted onto canvas which was helpful. I'd take her again.
The class was really interesting to learn about and she would give her own experiences with a lot of the lectures to help us understand certain topics which really helped. We had weekly lecture quizzes that were really lecture specific so take good notes! Theres 3 midterms + a final but she gives study guides for them. Doing good isnt impossible!
All of the exams + weekly quizzes were directly from the lectures, which were very detailed and in-depth to the material. The tests were a bit tricky and really tested your knowledge of the content. So, the best advice I would give is to really take specific notes, like almost word for word, and pay a lot of attention when shes lecturing.
her test are always so tricky. you have to really study to pass & she usually curves test if class avg is low. only weekly quizzes,no hw. each lecture comes w study guide to help w quiz/test. during class she makes you take polls/comments to her ques for participation pts. she gives out a lot of extra cred, max was 12pts. wouldnt take her again.
Although I passed the course with an A, I would not take it again and not recommend others to take it. You should pay attention to her lectures and take detailed lecture notes, not just answer the given questions. She limits the number of extra credit points possible. Her words can be confusing and tricky. Overall, the course was so stressful.
I love Professor Duong so much. Yes, her classes are lecture heavy and attendance is VERY mandatory but she's a super great teacher and it's clear that she cares about what she's teaching. You do have to take detailed notes, but she creates the note outlines for you. She is always ready to answer questions or go back to any slide. She's very sweet!
Professor Duong cares about her students, but she goes about it the wrong way. She gives confusing questions to get you to talk to her since she is lonely, and she quizzes and exams heavily on the notes you take in class. The notes outline is good and all, if she actually followed it during class. You have to connect the dots a lot to finish them.
Professor Duong's class was difficult, but if you take detailed notes and show up to class you should be okay! Tests were based heavily on the lectures she gave in class and were online and open note. She also answered any questions students might've had in class that were related to the topic we were going over.
Take Her! You will have to study BUT Bio is hard in general, she makes it so applicable & understandable! Attend lectures & take detailed notes (she gives detailed study guides), and study hard. Weekly Lectures (some online), small weekly quiz, 4 exams (all on lecture!), 1 small paper. You will not get a better Bio teacher at CSUF, trust me.
Professor Duong's class is difficult so make sure you study. Make sure to pay attention to what she says as well, not just what she writes down. Also, take detailed notes and she does give out detailed study guides that help. She gives out short weekly quizzes that are due on Sundays and plenty of extra credit opportunities.
Duong is a good professor. She's clear with her instructions, expectations, and class rubric. It's very lecture heavy and attendance is mandatory. There's a quiz every week except on exam week. She gives four exams including the final exam. Be ready to study because her exams make up most of the course grade. Overall, I would take her again.
Don't get me wrong this class is way harder than a 101 class should be. However, Prof. Duong makes the course very enjoyable. I was not excited to take BIO but Duong teaches on actually useful info like disease and sexual reproduction. If you wanna learn take her, if you just wanna pass I would recommend you take a different professor.
AMAZING. Maybe it is not an easy A, but you will actually learn something. She talks about important topics tht ppl actually use (ie: common diseases, cancer, sexual health). She cares about your learning and as long as you put in effort u will pass. Take notes and record (u can) and the tests become easy.
The exams make up 65% of your grade. So be attentive during lectures and ensure good notes are taken. She provides a word doc for each lecture that smoothly follows the material covered. There is no hw, just quizzes, exams and attendance. She provides lots of extra credit opportunities. Be careful on exams, her questions can cause confusion.
She's a good professor overall, gives good lectures, and cares about students. I wouldn't recommend taking her class, her exams are way too hard especially for a general ed class. Every question feels like she's trying to trick you.
Very caring and very professional. She makes her lectures very entertaining and easy to keep up with. Offers a lot of extra credit. If you skip several classes, good luck passing. Helps her best to get students to succeed. Tests include a lot of "Which is true?" with some answers being "two answers are true" or "none or true" feels like a trick.
She really wants her students to pass. Her lectures are based right off of the study guide for the exam. Not a lot of homework, grade is just based off of online weekly quizzes and the exams. She offers 15 points of extra credit.
I took a hybrid course so we only meet once a week. DON'T SKIP CLASS! There are weekly quizzes, 3 exams and 1 final exam. The questions can be quite tricky so make sure you study. The final consists of an in person essay and multiple choice. She responds to emails fast and offer a lot of extra credit. She is nice and sometimes pass out candy.
She is one of the best professors I've had at CSUF, take her! She provides easy extra credit opportunities 15 points max and it helps a lot. Attendance is necessary because the answers to study guides (notes) are answered in lectures and have a sign-in sheet. She really does care about students, she is understanding and wants students to succeed.
I took Duong in her hybrid class. Her lectures are very informative and easy to understand, she provides very organized study guides that are very useful for exams, she offers several opportunities for extra credit, and she is willing to help when asked. Questions on exams can be tricky but nothing too bad. Definitely take her if possible!
This was I can say was very interesting especially her lectures were extremely informational. Though the exams she would give out would have weirdly worded questions that kind of throws you off. She, herself, is an amazing professor because she would give out great extra credit opportunities though her exams were just a bit weird.
LOTS OF OPPORTUNITY FOR EC, however it has a cap. The class heavily relies on going to the lecture and/or watching lecture videos, but they're easy to understand, especially for non-bio majors. The study guides that she provides are the backbone to this class. If you can follow along well, you won't have an issue getting a good grade.
Professor Duong is an awesome professor. Her class is very easy, because your notes are your study guide. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities so take advantage of them, even though you are limited to 15 points of Extra Credit. She does take attendance, but she is pretty funny during lecture, so why would you miss class? Take her!
She is a good professor and is known to be one of the better biology professors. She gives lots of extra credit in and outside of class. Attendance is super important if you want to get a good grade in the class and it is also graded. Do well on the quizzes which are take home and take good notes in class and you will pass.
There is too much information considering it's an intro class, she also words the exam questions very weird. However, good at explaining the material & provides notes that can be used to study for exams. This is the most I've ever struggled with a class but in the end I was ok because of how much I studied. Attend class, study, and you'll be fine.
Most of the grades come from exams, but she does curve and provides lots of extra credit opportunities. Her lectures are engaging and she is patient with helping students. You won't regret taking her class.
Clear notes provided to follow along during class BUT exams and quizzes are worded confusing. Lots of extra credit opportunities and exams are curved. Not helpful if you email her for help. This class was too much unnecessary stress for a GE.
One of my favorite class and professor! She made me love biology since her classes were engaging. She gave us an outline to take notes but, keep in mind that she talks a LOT in lecture so try your best to not miss a class. She gives out EC opportunities which helped my grade a ton. Make sure to study for her test and the study guide she hands out!
if you study, go to class, and take notes you will pass the quizzes and exams. She does offer extra credit so make sure to do that so you can get all the points some topics are hard to memorize though. Great teacher overall
Professor Duong was such a great and caring professor. She really cares about her students passing and offers extra credit! It is important to study for her exams because a lot of it will be hard to memorize. I highly recommend!
don't get me wrong, she's very sweet but if ur not a biology type of person then this will be rlly difficult for u. theres a lot of definitions you have to memorize so DO NOT procrastinate. the study guide is somewhat like the test, but some questions are never on it. She also words the questions weirdly to trick u. the extra credit is ur BFF.
Prof. Duong is an engaging lecturer who offers plenty of extra credit. While her exams can be tricky, her study guides and Unstuckstudy are super helpful for acing this class. Definitely take her if you can!
Online quiz each week, four exams total. Each exam covers a lot of topics and details, but she does give a study guide that helps a lot! If you study, you'll do well in the class. No hw, your grade is based on exams, online quizzes, and extra credit. Lectures can get boring, but overall, the topics are interesting since they focus on our bodies.
Prof Duong is a great professor. She provides a lot of extra credit opportunities, makes a guideline to help students time manage studying, and her lectures are incredibly informative beyond just learning the material. She's very thorough in her explanations, is open to taking questions, and is truly a professor who does a lot for her students.
She wants her students to succeed and offers plenty of extra credit to help you out. While her tests can be tricky, she teaches you how to properly study, which has not only helped me in her class but also improved my overall study habits. I've genuinely learned the material. I recommend her if you're ready to put in the work and grow as a student!
Gives good lectures and even provides study schedules to help with time management! She made a more difficult subject approachble, and always checked for class comprehension. Helpful during office hours & overall friendly.
She was a great professor but had to leave halfway through the semester to take care of her mom. While she was their attendance was mandatory, but you got 2 free passes. Tests were multiple choice but would have questions similar answer options with +/- an important detail so you would have to know the exact answer, or you would get it wrong.
Best professor I've had at CSUF so far. She makes the lecture material interesting and exciting to learn about while still being informative. The study schedules she provided for each exam improved my study habits immensely. We miss you Professor, hope you're doing alright!
She was an amazing professor. Her lectures were very interesting, and she provided study sheets that were very helpful for the exams! No homework, just quizzes you have 2 takes on, and a week to do it, and exams that are multiple choice. If you study well and attend every lecture, you will pass. Offers extra credit towards the end of the semester!
great professor just a lot of information for the course. weekly homework and three tests which required you to study a lot so be prepared. she cares about her students and offers extra credit on every test which helped out. as long as you study and pay attention in class you should be just fine!
Professor Duong has to be one of my favorite professors i've had. She made it easy to come to class because she teaches in a great way. Lectures are easy to follow and has guided notes to fill out. She gives good feedback and has multiple extra credit opportunities through out the semester. She is super sweet and honest.
Professor Duong is one of the most helpful professors I've had. She explains all the material in a way that's really accessible and easy to understand, even if science is something you struggle with. She provides clear study guides for every lecture/test, so studying for her exams isn't stressful at all. Definitely take her for BIOL101 if you can!!
just no. one time she was trauma dumping about her ed and RECOMMENDING it to US. LIKE HELLO?!
