She's a character, to say the least. She's interested in what she teaches. It's not an easy class, you have to actually work in it, but it's always a fun time with Cindy as your prof.

She's so helpful, and you can revise your papers as many times as you need too. Shes always there to give suggestions and answer questions. If you do the readings and participate in class discusions you'll be fine.

Cindy is a wonderful professor. She cares a lot about her students and she's passionate about her work. She's friendly, helpful and easy to contact. I have her class for 2.5 hours and I've never wanted to murder myself after.

She was one of my best teachers. She would explain something to you when you needed it. She really got to know a student instead of them as just a number. I really recommend her, I got to know her and become a better writer. Plus you get to revise your papers as much as you want.

cindy, is by far, the best English teacher. I was soo scared to take that class but she made me realize that i can do anything i wanted to do. i just wrote all my papers, read all the assignments. I did what was needed of me. i pulled an A out of that class. As long as you work you can get an A.

at firts i didnt like her. she gave me a bad grade on my first paper. by the end of the semester i loved her. i ended up getting an a. read because you will have quizes. if your not that great of a writing take her you can keep writing your stuff so you can deffently get an a.

Cindy is the most helpful prfessor I've ever had. She will help you with anything. Strict attendance policy, but class is interesting. Easy papers to write, and a few in class reading quizzes. Nothing too hard.

Hysterical, self-proclaimed tyrrant though really not. She always had a good story and had a knack for finding ways to help her students understand. Her assignments were challenging in that you had to read more often than you'd like, but she gave natural-born writers a chance to shine. For a good prof for english, put her at the top of your list.

Honestly, Amazing. Cindy will do anything and everything to make sure her students understand and are inspired. I never thought I would get so much out of a class before I took her. I had her for college writing and also for interp lit. She even came in on a sat once to ready over my paper . How many profs do you know that would do that??

Took Honors College Writing with Cindy my first semester at SRU, which was perfect timing. My HS English teacher was very supportive and encouraging of my writing, and Cindy was the same way. She was constantly motivating to explore more areas of my writing and encouraged me to send several pieces in for publication. I don't think I had a prof at SRU after her that was so encouraging and had so much faith in her students' abilities. Plus she's funny and really easy to talk to.

Hello, this woman is absolutely amazing. I wish there were more like her on this campus. She's friendly and helpful, she's always willing to take time and talk to her students (you don't even have to be her student, actually). Prepare to work in her class, but also prepare to be enlightened and have fun.

Amazing teacher. She is a feminist, but she does not try to pound her beliefs into anyone. Willing to help you out all the time, discussions were interesting and she involves her students in her grading policy and discussions. Would absolutely recommend her and can't wait to take more classes with her.

The best teacher I've ever had! Honestly! She's a tough teacher, but it's unavoidable in college. You'll relunctantly leave her class and constantly think of the discussions until the next class. You cannot leave Slippery Rock without taking Cindy's class!

brit lit 2. a lot of class really stems from her doctoral research. if that's not your cuppa, its tough to be interested. i learned a good deal, but i don't really care for the mass of brit lit. certainly prefer her over a great deal of sru preachers. personally nice and fun to work with as well.

If you read the readings and complete all the papers it's a cinch. I've never had a writing teacher who allows you to revise as many times as you need. The only way you're not going to pass this class is if you don't put forth the effort. She does everything she can for you save write you papers and reading the book for you.

I love Cindy. You can tell she really loves her job! She is always willing to help no matter what it is! Very good teacher and i learned a lot. The only thing i would say is that if you take her for college writing I and then again for II, she will be harder on your grading cuz she wants you to grow as a writer!

I used to dread writing until I had her for college writing 101 and 102. She may seem hard at first but she is extremely helpful outside of class. She also really cares about her students and is by far the most ethical and sincere professor I have encountered at SRU. She is very honest and straightforward and expects the same of her students.

The best ever!! She was so laid back and great to talk to. The 20 page paper was the easiest paper I have ever written in my life!! I highly recommend her for any class and as long as you do the works, revise your papers for a higher grade, you can't fail!

Cindy is the best!! She really is amazing.If you don't understand something just ask her, she'll explain. She is easy to get ahold of and always willing to help out a student. Just do the readying because her tests are either you read it or you didnt questions. This is really the best Col Writing class you could have.

Cindy's the best professor I know-gives you any help you need, emails you back on time, etc. I learn something new EVERY day in her class. Attendance is important- miss more than 4 classes & you fail, but it's fun so you want to go every day. 4 novels for Int. Lit, not too $$$, & she sells you a $8 packet. two words: TAKE HER! -2 papers for Int Lit

Best prof at SRU hands down. Extremely intelligent, knows how to conduct great discussion, willing to help students in any way possible, provides feedback. Class is hardest in undergrad English, so be prepared to work. Weekly papers count for most of grade, and then a final paper, but the information is interesting, and papers keep you on track.

Cindy is a great professor! She was intimidating at first but I stuck with it and got an A. Extremely Helpful she read all my papers and helped me get the grade I wanted. If your willing to put a little time into your papers you will get an easy B.

I had Cindy for two of my classes and she made my life so much easier. Yes there is a good amount of writing and reading but the class is the best ever! I can't say a bad thing about her. She is truly the most warm-hearted person I ever met! You have to take her atleast once in your life because when you do, your life changes for the better!

Cindy is probably one of the best teachers I have ever had. I took her for college I and II. She is so helpful and intelligent. She makes time's for conferences to help you with your paper. After you turn in your paper she makes corrections and allows you to revise and turn it back in for a better grade! Highly encourage her!

She gives a LOT of work. If you have her for College Writing II like I did, expect several 10 page papers. Though the workload is rough, you can pretty much choose what you want to write your paper on and the classes are very interesting. Plus, any professor that encourages me to use sarcasm in my papers is A-OK for me!

I had a class with Dr. LaCom almost ten years ago, and I still recall her being one of the kindest, most helpful teachers I've ever had throughout my entire academic career. She's intelligent, personable, and very caring. The workload may be daunting, but she equips all of her students quite well for it. A++++ teacher, highly reccommended.

Tells great jokes, provides tons of feedback on papers, and gets super-excited about nerdy things. People who think she's a "man-hater" have CLEARLY not paid attention in class, where she STICKS UP FOR MEN! Take her.

Cindy is THE NICEST professor at SRU. She really cares about all of her students and loves teaching! She is always there if you are struggling with her assignments(2 papers + daily quizzes.) You would be a fool NOT to take her. She is amazing.

One of the better English professors, I love her college writing 2 class. She's good for people who like to write. Cindy always has a motive behind what articles we read and is always pushing the boundaries of what to write about. She isn't easy but it's not impossible, we have three essays though out the class, each one is seven pages. But the topics are always relatable and she encourages personal opinion in them. One of my favorite professors at Slippery Rock easily

Cindy is AMAZING. She requires a lot of reading, a lot of writing, and a lot of thinking, but honestly, she subconsciously motivates you to go above and beyond what she requires on your own. I never read and enjoyed so much before I took Lit Crit with Cindy.

Discussions are super interesting. She's extremely nice. Expect several (6?) papers, a lot of reading with quizzes to go along with it, and a presentation. She gives great feedback on essays and lets you re-do them if you did poorly on them.

The BEST (female) professor I've EVER had. I'm going into my senior year at SRU and I've NEVER read ANY textbook as fervently and frequently as when I read in her class. She makes her own text book filled with articles and excerpts from books and it is HUGE but, again, it's an AMAZING read. Not necessarily an EASY A, but you should still get one.

Cindy Lacom is the best professor on the SRU campus, as far as I'm aware. I am happy to hear that she's still teaching. She always pushed me to reach my true talent level, which I appreciated greatly - no teacher has ever done so before or since. Highly, Highly recommended.

I had Cindy for Literature of the women's movement. I learned a lot in her class. It was challenging, but in a good way. Group discussions daily, and all of the readings are required. A lot of reading, a lot of writing, but it's ALL worth it. She's also one of the most helpful professors i've ever had. Take her!

The BEST professor on campus, hands down. She is challenging and expects a lot out of her students, but she is worth taking and she will change your life. Read the amazing book, participate in class, and have an open mind. No lecture, just open discussion which is so informing and fun. Take her for any class you can, you will not regret it at all.

I wish we were graded on more than 2 papers and some 2pt. mini-quizzes. That said, she was an amazing professor and I wish I had another class with her in the future. She's challenging and the work load is sometimes overwhelming, but overall I suggest you take her if you're serious about your major.

You will not regret taking any of Cindy's classes. She is hands-down the best prof I have had on this campus, and has changed my life inside the classroom and out. In Intro to Gender there isn't a textbook, but a binder of articles that you purchase for a discounted price. She is always available to help. Cindy is 100% amazing.

Cindy is a well rounded human, and this makes her a fantastic professor. She gives a lot of quizzes but if you read the text and look over the questions before class they are super easy. She makes the textbook herself and asks for only 20$ PLEASE pay her for them because she works hard on it. She was so great I became a Gender minor.

Solid prof. Very easy to talk to. No book, but you have to buy a reading packet thing from her. Only $25. Almost entirely discussion based with quizes on the readings most classes. A couple papers due through the semester. Have to do a presentation or poster. Some really awkward material to discuss sometimes. Hardly any men take the class.

Cindy is an amazing professor. I loved that we did discussion format for classes because I was able to learn a lot. As long as you go to class, read all the articles in the textbook she makes for you, and complete all the papers well (3 small, 1 8-10 page), you should get an A. The papers she assigns are opinion based with the choice of format.

Sometimes I felt like she was just trying to appeal to me. Yes she's a feminist but there's more ways to look at things. Sometimes, I felt rather boxed in by her thinking even though she is a "free thinker." It's her job though to be a gender studies prof and she's a good one at that just not for me.

She was an amazing and inspirational professor. She challenges her students to think deeper about the subjects we study, and i loved that. If you do not like a discussion type class, dont take her because that is all you do every class is get in a huge circle and talk about readings assigned.

Be ready for discussions every class. I always left finding our discussions extremely meaningful and I wish everyone could take their classes!!! Attendance is definitely mandatory. There are 3 essays which they provide amazing feedback on for next time!

Cindy was one of my favorite professors last semester. They really opened many people's eyes in our Introduction to Gender Studies class, including me. Cindy is a great professor with the biggest heart for absolutely everyone that walks through their door. I would highly recommend taking Introduction to Gender studies if you have the chance!

Cindy is an amazing professor and it's very clear that they care deeply about the material being taught. I took Disability and Social Justice with them, and it was really enlightening and educational about topics not usually covered in a typical classroom setting/curriculum. Highly recommend taking one of Cindy's classes if you can!
