Ms.Muzzi is really healpful but she is really picky with the exams or labs specially if you make a simple mistake she will not give you points.Test are long but as long as you study it will be okay. Really nice for office hours give her chocolate. Lots of quizzes and some are group quizzes.
Tests are hard. Quizzes and labs are graded fairly easy. She spends LOTS of time explaining stuff, and she will help you more than most teachers. I think her tests are slightly harder than professor Lane's tests. She puts one "trick" question (trick=something not seen before) on each midterm
tough as hell..gotta work hard for every single little point. you hardly will get perfect score on anything. i think more than 2/3 of the students dropped her class and the midterm average for all 3 mid term was around 69%. And no she does not curve anything.
Muzzi is hella picky her exams are super hard and she EX: if a problem is worth 20 points and you make a little mistake she takes away 17 points. I studied my ass off and I still had a hard time. She doesnt tell you what to study for shes hella hard. Only take her if you love chem she is hard.
This lady is picky careful she tries to put everything all fast in a week covering two chapters a week in lab and in class she is not fair
Her test is not easy, but you can get all answers if you read textbook. She is the best chem teacher i have had at De Anza. She explains everything makes your lab a lot easier. My knowledge impvove much thank to her.
She is really helpful even in lectures. wants you to learn. even remembers your name! Tests, quizzes and labs aren't the easiest but who's is? very picky in lab though n makes every1 follow EVERY safety rule. She isn't so bad, there are worse prof. out there
She is hella hard and picky as hell you better know what you are doing becuase she is not fair. study hard or else her exams are difficult for you. picky picky picky.
Omg. This teacher is incredibly hard. I took her for 1A and recieved a C.. barely. I took her for 1B, and ended up dropping her class. Her exams are incredibly hard. One problem is worth up to 20 pts and if you miss one, your grade drops one letter. Very passionate about teaching, but wayyy to hard.
There's a reason she was notorious in just her first qtr! DON'T take her if you care about your grade. She enjoys failing 50% of the class. You can study your behind off and still end up with a D in the class.
She is extremely hard and picky. She explains everything deeply and hardly. Her quizs and tests are hard. It's too tired to have her class for a whole quarter. But the grade is unsatisfied.
Not picky, but rather extremely selective within reason. You can hear passion in hear teaching in her clear and easy to understand lectures. One of the most generous and nicest teachers. Always has office hours and EXTENDED office hours. Dude...you can't beat that at DA. The rest is all up to you!!!
everyone's Strict but she's reasonable strict, extended office hrs, passionate, clear, etc. u have 2 suffer from severe intellectual deficiency 2 not take advantage of her generosity & fail. exams r a bit long, but u should know it. u just can't half@$$ her class. study groups highly recommended!!!
I agree w/ the 2 comments B4 mine. Her exams ruin it. Makes me not want 2 major in chem NEmore. 1 of those new young ambitious teachers who believe hard teachers make U learn & it’s not all about grades. If U want to get NEwhere it’s ALL about grades. Y not both? She ruins people’s hopes & futures.
Take Dr. Muzzi if you want to learn chem. She explains the concepts very well and unlike some of the other professors, you actually learn from her lectures. She is willing to help you as best as she can. Yes, her exams are a little long, but they are not impossible. If you work a little harder you can get an A, I did.
haha , definetely not an easy class if you dont do all the homework in the back of the chapter. But if you do..Gosh..her test is so EASY... all based on HWs..trust me..she scares you by all the statistic and all that telling you rich people are usually good in math and all that myths...but trust me..her test is REALLy easy if you would just STUDY!!
Trust me , she explains So GOOD that you would wanna take her for ALL the GENERAL CHEM series~! But it's not likily to happen... :-/ ~ I wish De Anza can assign her for Ochem as WELL! But I guess that's not her specialty ... well who knows~ but the point is , SHE TEACHES SO WELL in General CHEM!
you can learn lots from her, but you won't earn a reasonable grade. to go anywhere, you need a GOOD GRADE. she's more for the "my class may be hard, but at least you're learning" kind of teacher. pretty stupid if you ask me. couldn't transfer because of her killing my GPA. Attention chem related majors...BEWARE!
A teacher to be avoided. Dr. Muzzi appears to be on a mission to esnure people in her class get the lowest grades possible. Will rescore a test/lab report multiple times, each time lowering the score until she can think of no more things to deduct. Unreasonable work load. Unfair tests, misleading practice test. You will do poorly in this class.
I had to drop her class with a W. She's a good teacher, but her tests are just extremely hard. Lab reports...she's picky...if you want her, must study really hard, if not, find TONG...he's easy, but you don't learn anything...

Had the PLEASURE of 3qts w/her. Now I have Tong. Tong sucks because I'm used to DrM's efficiency&clarity in lectures. Kept sitting there saying, "DrM would have said it this way..." DrM is very generous&reasonable. Exams may be sinister, but it's your own fault b/c she goes over everything. Be nice to her. She's very passionate in teaching chem. =]
Horrible prof. Exams unlike practice exams or lecture. She says her class is not about "plug and chug", NOT TRUE. She belittles students who come in for help & discourages students in class. Go to Foothill or anywhere else. Do not take her. If no choice, know the book. Lectures unhelpful. Do all blue problems & all online homework to have any hope.
Vindictive teacher. Is being evaluated for tenure and students given questionnaires during quarter. After the evals were turned in, she refused to return the lab exam to students & regraded for MUCH lower scores, lab report scores went WAY down immediately after evals. Stay away from her if you possibly can! I've never felt so much like a lab rat!
CHEM 1A STUDENTS DIE!Shes goin 2 ruin ur GPA, make u do all these useless crap on lab reports, try very hard n not get a goodgrade,1/2 her students W/D from her class.Shes a good teacher tho, learn a lot but earn badgrade.Loves failing students,do everything rite in lab,but do not explain well,u'll get 2/15. U ONLY have 2 have her class 2 do well. G
When people say DrM enjoys flunking 1/2 the class, they're NOT exaggerating. DrM actually complained to Liu that she's giving too many As in Labs. Liu's students did well b/c she was reasonable w/labs. DrM was easier on labs for a while, after student evaluations, she started failing people. @$$kissing and cheated evaluations. where's the ethics?
haha.muzzi syndrome...that is a good one. i have to say i did get it too. in addition...i was cured ADD until I had her. Got dependent on my medications. You need to be superhuman to do it. I'm on a drug recovery program now. I have to say...I learn alot from Dr Muzzi. She's great. Enjoyed her lecture. Only few can get my attention&me to sit still.
so terrible!!!!!!!
She's really good at lecturing and is very clear. You'll learn a lot, but her grading on labs & essay questions is very hard. she expects you to know and explain EVERYTHING. Her quizzes and tests aren't too hard though, they're like the book questions.
She's not easy and all. But she will make you work hard to understand the material. Her test is based on homework problems, so thats a given. and her lab, well... good luck~ write like a professional or else you deserve no points. She's better than UC instructor simply because she really try to help you understand.
Not very easy. But hey~ chemistry requires some hard work of course~ Same as every other science subjects, like Math, and Physics. ok~ anyways~ Look for yoursel, this teacher will drive you crazy at times, but you can learn a lot more than if you were taking some really easy & faking A instructor like ---> I dunno~ but you do. :)
do not take Muzzi, she is the worst teacher i ever seen!
Well, she's the only college prof who will remember you by your name on the very FIRST day...so she's very friendly and stuff. Had an easy time in her class...but im an exception. lot of people struggle because they dont read the book and do the problems..so be careful. Overall...a B is quite easy to get. Lab reports are killers, so be careful.
She's such a great instructor whose lectures help you build a solid foundation of knowledge. You will have an easy time in a higher level of Chem if you pass her class. You will learn how to be professional in writing a formal lab report too.
I must say that she is a great lecturer, and explains concepts very well. However, she grades extremely hard and perhaps expects a bit too much from students. If you want a good grade from, be prepared to work hard, if not, just forget it. She is a Nazi with anything related to lab, so watch out.
I have never been scared by a teacher... but I am convinced that she gave me stomach ulcers. Threatened to lock the lab doors if people were late (lab started at 7:30 in the morning for pete's sake). Tests are graded VERY strictly. Took 1 point off of a 3 point answer when I was off by only one sig fig. Don't take her if you care about your GPA.
She does give pop quizzes and her tests aren't the easiest, but she is definitely fair. And she's always available for help anytime you see her. Highly recommendedk for serious chem students.
this teacher is devoted to gen. chem/in order to pass you need to be a chem major and need be very good at chem/ she does not give you that much feedback and her test reflect only odd homework problems, if at all, which do not have answers on the back of the book/she is hard and if you are not devoted to chem or just want to get by/ DO NOT TAKE HER
Good teacher, harsh tester; also seems to believe she needs to scare students into succeeding. Recommended, but only for science majors, and definitely not recommended for students who are already high-stress, or worry a lot about their GPA. It's certainly possible to get an A, but you might give yourself an ulcer. That said, you'll learn a lot.
She really knows her stuff and wants you to know it too. Group work and activities really help the learning process...and she explains about as well as anybody could. Very enthusiastic about chem and science in general, quite friendly AND helpful..taking chem 1C now and I miss her already.
Too much work, very hard grader, pinpoints all your errors, and whatever you THINK you will get, you will actually get a grade lower. You will HATE chemistry after taking it with Mrs. Muzzi. She really enjoys ruining peoples' futures with her 50% failure rate policy. Good luck.
she got her bs & phd at davis. they curve at davis, why can't she? the exams are way easier there. i should know, i took chem at davis and at deanza, i can tell you the differences. she can speak passionately how she wants people to learn and make a difference and all, but it's BS progaganda for her to make people suffer. She has issues. Seek help!
EVIL EXAMS!!! AVOID IF POSSIBLE! Chem isn't the only class students are taking in the quarter. We have other classes to worry about too. The guy before is right, UCD is not hard like hers. Too hard=students won't learn. Ratemyprofessor.com is still a feedback like school evals are feedbacks too. all feedbacks are good, no matter how bad they sound.
She is the best chemistry I have ever met! Extremelly passionate with chemistry, a truely scientist . Her test is long and contains some tricky questions. Indeed, she is hard. But if your major is chem or bio-chem and you want to challenge yourself, take her. She will shape your chem.
Chem 1B is hard. With her, it's even harder. Take it with Calger. At least he isn't as demanding.
She's definitely one of the best professor in De Anza. For those who got low score in exams, you can only blame no one but yourself. I studied really hard in her class and got a 95% overall in the class.
To the person below, shut the hell up. Muzzi is the worst professor in the Deanza dept. of science. Worse than Beth and Calger
Avoid at all costs!
If you want a reason to hate chem, take this course!
It is just way to obvious that she is the only one who is giving herself good rates... Just STAY AWAY FROM HER..
Lectures well but exams don't reflect lecture or textbook material. Treats students poorly, is condescending and rude, discourages students who ask for help in office hours. Lab reports consistently graded harshly, and uninterested in students understanding the material. Do not take this teacher!
OMG This prof is way hard. If you're not willing to sacrifice study time in other classes only to get a C in this one if you're lucky, take it with someone else!!!!!!
some ppl gotta realize that chem 1b is already a hard class. I'd say her lectures were very clear. Her tests were pretty challenging, but thats what prepares you for upper division science classes! She makes it do you really have to know the material well, thats it. Tips: review notes, do & understand every single odd# problem in the CH.
ok let me give it to y'all first of all i think dr. muzzi is good at lecturin but it contradicts her test..i mean u can understand all the lecture but if you cant apply it to test u will fail the damn course i also dislike her pickiness seriously she will minus points for grammer mistakes which drives ppl crzy.so yah avoid her class if possible
good teacher, strict grader
Enjoys failing students. Don't even think about taking anything with this jealous woman. She will hold you down.
She is owsome......People who are saying that she is not good are the "Lazy @sses," who just siiting around at home playing on the computer and dont wanna do the work, and just expect the more grade as they were in high school. In her class, you have to do the work. Belive me. The effort is totaly worth it. So people if want to learn just TAKE HER.
dr muzzi isnt the easiest teacher if u dont do the work u will fail the ****in course..n plus she simily just a ****..
Dr Muzzi is awesome ! If you are a science major, you SHOULD DEFINITELY take her. When the class doesnt understand something, she makes wksts for you to take home. She has a TON of office hours for when you need help. Just learn to get a good grasp on the concept. If you dont use it in her class, you'll use it later on in other classes
I would definitely recommend taking Chemistry with Muzzi. She may be hard and picky on labs but she is definitely helpful and if you need it (lots of office hours) and she won't give you a hard time. The tests are challenging but nothing really tricky as long as you keep up with homework.
BADDD!!!!
Muzzi really knows her stuff. I would highly recommend her for your chemistry classes. Just do the work and study hard, and youll As the class for sure. One of DAs best chemistry teacher ever. Oh gosh, I love her class so much.
Asks for a lot. Hated pop quizzes. Was a tough grader. Good lecturer but tests were completely unrelated. Tests contain one question which is a combination of concepts - very difficult. Tests have way too many questions for 50 mins. Lab reports were hard too, she asks hard questions and takes off way too many points for simple things.
if u want an A, the chem bk is your new friend. eat w/ it, sleep w/ it, even go to the restroom w/ it. extremely hard class. i'm a 3.9 gpa student, i thought i was gonna fail. got an B. brilliant, passionate lecturer. vicious grader. was nicer at the end. the finals was MC very easy but her tests are HARD. a nice and fair grader, but u MUST study
Do not attempt to take 20 units with this class. Do exactly as she asks, use the wording she wants you to, do not make any grammar mistakes. Prepares you well for UC level. Several people dropped but if you hang in you have a chance to pass the class.
Really harsh on the lab report and homework.
Terrible teacher! OMG and this is that I passed a class with a A-!! You will learn to dislike chem with this teacher.
Dr.Muzzi is very smart and nice! But it's really very very very hard to get an A in her class. Test and Exam and NOT easy @ all! Make sure that u'll spend more than 3 hours a day to do revision or DON'T take her class!!
Acts very sweet and nice and willing to help b/c that's a front. Totally not cool on exams. Takes pride in failing students and being difficult. She's out to get you more than help you and she gets you on exams. Her class overwhelms people. I tutor chemistry and I don't have to do so much to teach them. Needs to keep it simple and not overwhelming.
I only had her for the lectures and I LOVED it. She is super clear when it comes to explainging concepts and definitions (unlike the teacher I have now). Does a lot of examples that helps explain the subject in question. I barely read the book, got Cs on all my tests and got a B+ (85%) in her class. Another story if you have her for lab too. =X
She is hard. But if you want to learn at the UC level take her. She teaches excellently however and is very nice. Fair grader too! Be sure to study the math process well! Once you get a hang of it, you will possibly enjoy it. If you are a student majoring in the sciences, I'd advise you to take her.
She is a very smart teacher, but very picky! She takes points off for the amount of sig figs you have..if you got them wrong. I struggled with this class, but learned a lot too. If youre going to take her and want something better than a C then you better study EVERYDAY and efficiently. Never miss a day and never miss a lab.
Dr. Muzzi is very difficult. Her grading is not fair. Her midterms are exams that are really designed to be for 65 minutes but are given in 50 minutes. I am a person who goes back and checks my answer and find mistakes but not having enough time made my grade suffer. She does teach, however, but is picky and the class gets overcomplicated.
She's a very harsh grader. Make sure your sig figs are correct or else you'll lose anywhere from 1/2-1 point and that can make a difference especially on your lab reports. Her tests are too long for the allotted time given so study and make sure you are efficient and know what you are doing within seconds or else you won't complete her test on time
She is extremely difficult, unorganized, and unnecessarily nit picky. After taking her class I started to dislike chemistry. The only thing I really learned was to stay away from her classes.
one word: hard! I took her years ago.
Lots of drops in class due to difficult lecture exam...She is easy to follow during lecture BUT the exams are nothing like what we go over in class :[ Try to avoid her class if you can!
Yeah, she is picky in lab, but I transferred to Cal and got As on my upper div lab reports 'cause she taught me to write a decent report. Exams are hard, but fair. Just do the HW. Always available for help and occasionally gives take home quiz or easy points in class.

I simply love Dr. Muzzi's class. She is extremely clear and her notes and lectures are sooooo useful. Just listen to her carefully and do all the work she says and you can definitely get a good grade in this class. O.Chem is one of toughest college classes, but Dr. Muzzi makes it so much less painful than it actually can be. I highly recommend her.
I can not think of anyone else I'd rather take O.chem with.
Just did HW and attended lab and lecture and still managed to get a passing grade. Way better than chem 1 teacher
Hard. If you get a C, which means you can get a B in other instructor's class. A lot of work in lab. If you want learn Ochem well and have enough time and confidence, choose her.
Loved this class. Dr. M is super organized and absolutely clear with her instructions. Highly recommended.
Great!
Reasonable quizs and exams with one / two hard question ,, get high grades when we do the question from the book.
Still harder than other prof in DE ANZA. if u r good at Ochem and have enough time to study, u will be fine. Extremely to hard to get a A. Easy to get a C, I think. Good luck
Very organized for lab. Gives really clear directions. Lab reports take work but she is fair with grading. Expects students to act like a professional.
She really inspires me to learn chemistry. She knows her stuff. You learn a lot from both of her labs and lecture. But be prepared because the tests are not easy. She allows cheat sheet though.
She definitely cares very much about her job and thinks about it outside class. Lab reports are expected to be immaculate. Very easy to get involved with discussions. Tests however, are not friendly. Somewhat unreasonable questions for the time given. So if you work and are a bad tester, find a way to study during breaks and while on the john.

Somewhat unreasonable questions for the time given. So if you work and are a bad test taker, find a way to study during breaks and while on the john.
It's not an easy class. You have to study everyday for this class if you want a passing grade otherwise you will have to repeat the course. MUST PRACTICE THE PROBLEMS IN THE BACK OF EACH CHAPTER (BY YOURSELF A SOLN'S MANUAL FROM BOOKSTORE). MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND LAB STUFF. hER LAB EXAMS ARE NOT EASY!! ASK QUESTIONS DURING OFFICE HOURS.
When she wants you to start reading the chapters and do the back page homework... DO IT!
Muzzi is such a good lecturer. The way she explains concepts is so helpful. You MUST stay on top of your textbook reading and do the practice problems if you even want a chance at an A. Lab with her was also fine, and she made sure the class understood the theory about each lab. She is a hard grader, but if you're serious about chem, take her.
She is very good teacher, explains very well but grades hard. She tricks you in her tests and makes them very hard. but on the other hand, it helps you to understand the material better. If you want to know the subject take her!!!
She's good at teaching the material and really develops your understanding during lecture, but her exams are really difficult and discouraging. Almost seem helpless at getting a good grade on her exams other than the students that got hooked up with her past students. You'll learn a lot about the subject, but the GPA definitely suffers.
So it has been almost 4 weeks into the class, and i agree with everyone else, her exams are pretty tough. I didnt take chem 50, so im learning a little slower than average. Her labs are straighforward and she always goes over the theory. Just do txtbook problems and STUDY!!! A LOT! she is nice and willing to help. dont take if you want and easy A
Her exams as people say, are true it is very tough, and you really need to think before answering. However, I think she is one of the very few cheistry teaches at deanza that can really teach. Take her if you want to learn chemistry. Note: Her final is a fifty multiple choice problem, where 20 of the problems are very difficult. I guess 9 problems.
VERY difficult instructor! If you're looking for an A forget it. A B? HARD. For a C you need to study all day and weekends. She teaches okay, but her tests are made to make you fail. Do not take her if you need to boost your GPA or if you're trying for an A. Good luck!
Professor teaches with clarity, but has difficulty with keeping pace, running late on lectures and on lessons overall. Tough exams, often with significant number of questions coming from tangential material, but forgiving overall grading scheme that drops both worst quiz and worst exam. Homework not collected, but you NEED to do it to succeed.
She is very clear on her lectures and she grades fairly in exams and quizzes. Although she is picky on prelabs and lab reports, I'sure u will learn a lot. I am not good at chemistry but I end up with an A. In the exams, there are just one or two tricky questions. Just stop complaining and study, you will do fine.
Dr. Muzzi tries her best when she can, but that is rare. She puts personal issues in conjunction with the course. She lacks communication. Good luck understanding the course with her minimal explanations. You have been warned. If you take her, the textbook is your new friend/teacher/enemy/cuddle buddy.
A good chemistry teacher and not as hard as some make her out to be. Her tests are always fair if you know the material. I enjoyed her class and got my A without all that much effort.
I was afraid of taking her class cuz everyone said she was hard.but I'm telling ya,don't listen to others! she's an awesome teacher.she's funny.knows the material really well, doesn't assign any homework, you're responsible for doing the exercises yourself.drops one quiz, exam, lab exam & lab report.she even gave us a take home lab exam.clear lectures.
Dr. Muzzi consistently runs late the class and doesn't seem to come prepared to class. Her instructions are not very clear and it is sometimes hard to follow her train of thought. Her powerpoints are full of mistakes so be weary...
I felt that she favored her students. Her tests are more thorough than the book. She teaches well but isn't the nicest when it come to personality or grading. She would often arrive late and raise her voice. Sometimes she adds surprise quizzes. She teaches well but you have to hit the books. if you take her, settle on one science course.
No sleeping in her class! She has lots of energy. She is clear and uses both the Pwoer point and her own notes. She only was late to class because our lab section kept getting out late. I would take her class for 1A. Gave us a take home exam and allows the lab final to be open lab notebook. She also gives you all the equations.EAsy.
She emphasizes more on lab work and exams than the lecture portion, if you want to pass her class your textbook is your soul mate and best friend otherwise don't take her class if you're not good at chemistry.
This was the most brutal class I've ever had. Though I sacrificed my social life to chemistry, I gained an excellent working knowledge thanks to M's teaching. Go to all classes. Do your work early. READ. Make flash cards. The tests are difficult but doable if you relax and think through the concepts. The final was so hard I ran out of time.
Pretty good instructor for Ochem. Has a very clear and helpful set of notes for us. Make flashcards of reactions and study often. I spent many sleepless nights reading the book and doing practice problems, and at times I wanted to cry but it was all worth it at the end. Her exams are hard, but if you pass, it ensures you really know the material.
Hard and tough, but very clear and helpful with her teachings. Your grade is basically based on your midterms and final. Lab and lab reports don't make a big difference. You have to learn from her lecture and read the book and understand what is being taught. No homework is assigned but advises to do practice problems and end of chapter problems.
The only regret I have was not taking her for 1A too because I got scarred after reading all the other comments. She is an amazing professor and her lectures are very clear. Labs are really fun and she walks you through it. and you LEARN in her class! AWESOME AWESOME class take her
Prior to taking Muzzi all I heard was how hard she was going to be, but don't fall for it. Muzzi's test are a bit challenging, but she prepares you so well for them. I really learned a lot from her lectures, and i actually understood the concepts of the lab. She's a quality teacher, and i wish i took her for 1A. If i can pass her class, you can too.
Clear teacher, lots of anecdotes.Doesn't collect hmwk.Drops 1/5 100pt exams and 1 lab, but exam 3 and 4 are hard. 5 was mult choice and 14 Qs but missing a few dropped ur grade. The finals can break you: 50 mult choice and worth 3 exams; lab exam = 100pts, same as all labwork combined; both not enough time. Grade btwn last exam & final: A- -> B-.
Professor Muzzi is an amazing instructor. I took her for 1A AND 1B. She really prepares you for her exams - and quite frankly, if you do not pass her it is on you. Not her. Her lectures are clear and she tries to explain the concepts as thoroughly as possible. If you don't pass, you clearly didn't put in any effort. Definitely recommend!
Don't take this class at all cause! her lectures are clear, but her exams are nowhere relevant, really abstract. There's a time constraint, hardly anyone ever finishes. Very picky grader. The final accounts for nearly 2 exams, which can bring your grade down by a letter.
"This is lame!" How is it I do all hw, outside practice problems, listentake notes on lecture, & additional research to only get grade-slapped as if I did no work whatsoever?? Confusing: lab, time on exams (25 Q's in 50min-multi choice for some), her bipolar helpfulness (no help during class, only office hours) Clear: lecture, devote to studying
Teachers can either make you lovehate the subject. SHE (imo) makes me develop a DISLIKE for chem. 4 time-pressuring lecture exams (barely 2 minutes per q- drops lowest), 1 cummulative lab exam, 1 undroppable final, and several interesting-yet-confusing labs (drop lowest). If she was a salesman, "dropping lowest" & "study" is her sales-pitch.
Her exams are extremely difficult. She never gives enough time crams chapters and is a tough grader. It would be nice if she would inform us on what she expects instead of slapping it into our face. Often nags and dumbs students down. Pull all nighters studying for this class and was on the edge. Wouldn't recommend her to anyone.
Read the book and did outside research and still couldn't pass her exams. She never gives enough time and hardly anyone ever finishes. it's extremely difficult. She's a hard grader. Don't take her.
Her lectures are helpful but the exams are completely different. Never finish on time. She gives way too much question within limited amount of time. She has office hours. When you ask for help she slaps the material at you as if you're dumb instead of actually guiding you through
Took her for 1A and taking 1B now. Got an A and expecting another. If you read the text, pay attention and do the problems she assigns, you will do well. If you are not doing well, just redo the problems over and over. Too many lazy students at De anza. 3 cores this quarter and this one is easiest. Ridiculously straight forward questions on tests.
i really regret not dropping this class. ... you don't have to do hw, but you SHOULD. i never finished any of her exams and always have to guess at least 5 question. if you are REALLY good at chemistry, take her. otherwise, if you're just okay like me, you'll struggle really hard. go to every class and study hard everyday. good luck.......
She is not as good as many people said. She made a lot of mistakes on the board. Her tests are not that hard because they're based on the hw but she makes mistakes in the tests too. She is not perfect so why does she expect her student to be perfect? Avoid her if you can
Dr. Muzzi is the best chem professor I have taken so far. She uses simple examples to explain complicated problems. She makes mistake sometimes both on the board and on the exam but she is still great. Doing hw is not a Must but a Should since the exams are developed from hw. Dont expect them to be the same! Spend time studying!
Love her lectures, but hate her test. If you want to pass, DO HW and have no trouble. Hw is not mandatory however. Even though I learned alot, I couldn't show through tests. It's straightfoward, but ohsotough!! Tests will have several concept questions that are TOUGH, but problems are okay. No quizzes. Cumulative lecture&lab final, and 4 exams.
I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. Her lectures are clear, but her tests are extremely difficult. If you ask her for help she'll dumb you down. 1 lab exam 4 exams and a final that counts nearly as 2 exams. If you don't do well on the final there's no way you can pass. Chances of passing this class with a grade higher than a C is very slim.
Be prepare, this class is hard! Her exams are extremely difficult and she's a very tough grader! Did practice problems, read the book, and researched, still couldn't pass.
If you think you can pass a college science class without hw, you should rethink college, cause you're probably an idiot. Cinzia is a good lecturer, and if you do your hw and ask questions about what you don't get, you should be solid for the tests. If algebra is as far as you ever got in college math or science, be prepared to put in actual work.
She's a great lecturer. Crystal clear. Her exams may be challenging but she compensates for that by not really stressing over labs. I recommend taking lab notes because you will probably forget it by the lab exam. Lecture exams is mostly your grade. Know your stuff. If your taking 1A, don't listen to my review cause I heard she is harder for 1b.
Read book before class.. and after class. Just read the book as many times as you can since it is helpful. 1st exam right at the 1st week, so be aware of studying since the beginning of the quarter. She is strict, and her tests are super hard. But this is college, and it is supposed to be challenging so that we can be well-prepared for transfer.
Honestly I don't quite know how to feel about her. My friend got 100% on an exam that I barely made a D on. Going back and looking at the test, I realized I made some pretty dumb mistakes and I couldve made an A. Doesn't give much partial credit on short answer. You need to learn how she works. Gonna drop her 1A and take it with her again.
Definitely read the book for the exams and the labs prior to doing them. Homework isn't collected, but the practice will guarantee a passing grade on the 5 exams (4 midterms, 1 cumulative final). Can be pretty confusing during lab, so be sure to go over the instructions a few times and clarify with her.
Tough but a good teacher. Stay on top of the homework and readings and don't take another class during her office hours. DO AS MUCH AS YOU CAN FOR LABS BEFORE COMING TO CLASS. Couldn't finish some labs in time because I didn't do that. She is very nitpicky about partial credit, and she is a bit rude at times. Be nice and ask reasonable questions.
She is the best teacher for 1B. Take her if you can. Will not disappointed at the end quarter, yet will disappointed at the second exam.
Dr M is "challenging, yet rewarding"
Dr M. expects you to behave professionally in class and work. Meet that expectation, & you will do well in the class, in future studies, & in life. Follow her directions on lab papers, it will set the foundation. Her tests run long-- UNLESS you have practiced with all the hmk questions she gave you. Students who WANT TO LEARN should take her class
High expectation than the actual required for this course. The lab final is the hardest test of all and you'll need to have a very organize lab notebook in order to survive.
Took her for 1A & 1B, 10/10 would recommend taking her. You really do have to read the book, the homework & practice all of the problems throughout the chapter in order for you to do well in her class. Her class could be challenging but it's rewarding. You WILL learn.
I like her explainations a lot. I never prepared any thing for her lectures before I came to her class;however, I still understood materials well. I am a bad test taker. However, I still got all A on her quizzes and exams. I am not a smart student. I memorized her power point slides, so I knew all answers while taking exam. I did not do hw at all.
I had it over the summer so I only had a MC exams, but it wasn't hard AT ALL. Do hw and read from txtbk. I got A's on all my exams but ended up with A- because she was very picky about lab reports. Spend some time writing the conclusion! A good lecturer and a fair grader. Will definitely learn a lot.
I never missed a class and was sure to work ahead on the homework. I can't wait to take her for Ochem, I love her lecture style. It requires you to read the book but lectures make the test questions easier. Lab exam was open notes, so be sure to copy down everything she says during lab lecture and you'll do well! Do not expect leave exams early.
Her tests are super hard. You never see the problems before. Regret taking her class. You have to avoid her class whenever it's possible. Hurt your GPA.
Her tests are super hard. Worst teacher ever.
her tests are super hard, even if you spend 18 hours on her lecture and homework. ridiculous. Waste time and learn nothing. Ruin your GPA. Tests are MC. You have to read every single page in the Textbook. Tests include many details in the textbook. If you are biology major, you can remember all details.
She expects you to be an expert in chemistry. If you learn chemistry before you will pass. There are 3 tests, and you know what : the average grade is 60%. Only 15 extra credit, it does not help. Waste time and ruin your GPA SO BAD. Good luck if you take her.
You NEED profs like her! Her tests are challenging because there's always a little bit of material that wasn't directly from the homework. That being said, her lectures give you such a good foundation for your studying. Really listen to her and she'll tell you everything clearly. You don't know how good she is till you have someone else, trust me!
Really great professor. Lectures are informative and very clear. She doesn't do powerpoints or post anything about lectures online so be sure to go to class. Although lectures are great, there's a lot of self teaching so be sure to read the book! Tests are hard and she's a tough grader so watch out. Grades based on tests and labs. overall great.
She is a super detailed person, if you want to get A in her class, you won't have time for other classes
It's evident her intention is to make sure everyone understands the foundation of Chem. Tests aren't bad if you read the book. Very specific with lab. Don't take advantage of her lectures, read the book, you'll do fine. I'm struggling (my fault), but I am trying to take her again for 1A b/c she KNOWS what she's teaching her students.
SHE EXPECTS A WHOLE LOT OUT OF THE LITTLE SHE GIVES. GOOD LUCK IF YOU DECIDE TO TAKE HER.
Her class is all about the lab and textbook. She offers a lot of chances to get a good grade. For example, i failed 1 of the three midterms and got a C on the 2nd one but i still managed to pass the class with a B+. The only issue i had with her is how strict she was in lab. Other than that shes still a great professor and im glad i took her class
yes she expects a lot, no over-exaggeration on that. so be prepared to dedicate lots of hrs outside class reading and practicing on problems. she drops lowest of test scores, lab reports, prelabs, etc. very good prof, knows what she's teaching, knows the curriculum etc. took her for 25 and 1A, sucks she's not teaching 1B or 1C anytime soon.
Her lecture is very clear and easy to understand. She will drop the lowest quiz and test. Homework is not mandatory but most problems on quizzes come from the homework. The exams are very reasonable, therefore if you AT LEAST read the textbook, come to her lecture, and do the practice problems, you will do well in her class. Very recommended.
I'd probably avoid her if you can. I had no choice bc she was the only prof. for chem30A (T/Th). She would almost always give 2 quizzes every week (1 lecture & always 1 prelab) and during that same week, she would have the exam the next class and have lecture after. Rushes through pp bc she expects you to read beforehand. One word: ridiculous.
I never have failed a class in my entire college career now i am behind to graduate because of this course. I would never retake this class with this professor again. She gave us quizzes on topics she had not gone over, I guess that is her way of teaching. I did not enjoy this class at all. I would not recommend to take this class.
Dr. Muzzi isnt the easier professor and if you havent had a professor with the same teaching style as her its very hard to do well on the first exam. Based on past professors, she felt like the most uninviting to her office hours. No graded homework, only quizzes and exams. The homework is optional, but is the best way to prepare for tests/quizzes
Need to go to all classes, read textbook, and do optional hw practice problems. Appreciated that she goes over tests and quizzes (a lot of quizzes so have to be prepared every week) after and answers questions, also does a lot of practice in class. Great teacher, explains things clearly, and makes chem interesting. Lowest grades are dropped.
Please avoid her at all costs. Just wait until next quarter and choose a different professor. When class average on tests is 68% (super smart students) maybe something is wrong with YOUR questions on tests and YOUR teaching, not the students! But she doesnt care at all! Shes bitter about being a teacher at deanza and wants to torture students.
Had her for solo lab, so I can't judge on lecture. Really drills in how to write a solid lab report, makes you know what you're doing before getting your hands on the chemicals or equipment. Tough grader but fair, open office hours if you need help on anything. Some classmates disliked her style, but I still definitely recommend her.
Took her from chem25,1a30B, Every point counts, grades pretty strict, for 30B, her lectures are online based on the book. Studied online lectures and practice problems in the book for exams. Has a quiz or exam every week. Questions from quiz shows up on exams. my biggest problem was the grading, Every point changed my grade.
I took her for ochem as she was the only professor available and of all the classes I ever took, hers was the one I studied most for. In lectures, she kept spending time on discussing/working through easy concepts and breezes through ones that are difficult. Then she tests us on the concepts that she briefly touched upon if at all. Do not recommend
Took her for 30B because she was the only choice. Seriously, if you have the option of taking someone else do it. She spends a significant amount of time explain things that are easy and glazing over all the difficult material. Her grading for tests and quizzes are nitpicky.
I just wouldn't take her. It is a great choice if you already know (not just knowing but an expert) the class material or her class is the only class you are taking for the quarter.
I would never take her course again, she expects you to be an expert in chemistry before you even start. I have never had this type of experience with a professor it was RIDICULOUS, ended up withdrawing so it would not ruin my GPA. Tests are ridiculous- 1 MCQ is worth 5 points so theres that. AVOID AT ALL COST
I have Dr. Muzzi to thank for setting me up with such a strong foundation in chem. It has helped me a lot in upper div classes. I'm not saying her class is easy by any means. Its actually really difficult BUT her lectures are incredible and she is great at explaining difficult concepts. Ask questions, do the hw, read the book and you will be fine.
her class was o.k. overall and passable ONLY IF you read ahead. she goes by her own pace and pays no mind to students who are behind or struggling. if you ask a question during lecture, chances are shell comment on how you should have read ahead. i noticed towards the end of the quarter that hardly any students asked questions anymore.
she caught someone cheating in our class and after blackmailing the entire class with scare tactics, she punished everyone by making the next exam harder. All she had to say for it was "to the students who didn't cheat, blame those who cheated"
Tried taking her class and ended up withdrawing (along with roughly half of the rest of my lab section). One of the most unapproachable professors I have ever taken. She hates being asked questions, and makes you feel incredibly dumb and incompetent when she answers. Avoid taking her class unless you're already a chem expert.
Very caring, good lectures. If you ask a question she will make it a priority to get it answered, and always manages to do so without wasting any time. Tests have exactly what you expect to be on them if youve studied, with nothing too difficult thrown in.
Took during 1st quarter of COVID. One of the best classes that quarter. Everything was so organized, Canvas was clear. Lectures to the point; exams reflected lectures. Uploaded lectures quick. Easy outside work. Group work / participation was extra credit - easy points. Don't cheat or whole class pays. Exams were video'd on zoom. Answered all Q's
Sad to see so many bad reviews of Dr. Muzzi. She's SUPER straightforward and the content isn't difficult. If you pay attention during class, preview the material beforehand (she tells you what she's covering next class), study well in advance, ask questions, and listen to everything she says, you'll do great! loved her class and she's super chill!
lots of work!!! If you dont read ahead you wont pass
Underrated I 10000% recommend for CHEM 1A. 3 exams - 9 hws - 9 labs - lowest score from each will be dropped. 1 final - the best lectures - exams and final open note. Sad to see she doesn't have 5/5, totally deserves it.
Although it was online she was easily accessible through email or office hours. 9 pre-labs, 9 labs and she drops your lowest score for each. 3 Exams and she drops your lowest exam score. Her lectures were very clear and gives you opportunities to participate. Break out rooms almost every class lecture, mostly to help each other with EC. Lots of EC!
Read the textbook and do the practice problems at the end of every chapter. Drops lowest exam, Chem101 hw, and lab report. Lets you use your notes during exam. Grading is based on a point system so try to get as many points as possible. Gives EC opportunities sometimes during lectures. Easy A if you know chemistry already or have really good notes.
Pros: Accessible (Zoom/email), Canvas is organized, EC. Cons: OBSESSED with punishing cheaters (seems resentful/paranoid), lectures arent helpful, VERY harsh/picky grader but constantly makes mistakes/typos herself. Dont take her if youre not a FAST test-taker: even when my BF took her Chem25, a lot of his class failed the first midterm.
Very reasonable professor; we all did badly on the first exam due to lack of time and she gave us a make up quiz and more time on subsequent exams. Lowest scores get dropped. Homework problems help you learn the material. Labs - just follow instructions. Extra credit for participation and some labs you get full pts just for giving it a try.
Cinzia is an amazing professor for chemistry. I was able to improve my knowledge in chemistry and critical thinking skills in her class. She puts questions more application-based in the exams so you definitely want to master the material. Work hard and you can do it : best of luck to whoever reads this!
horrible at communicating with students.. won't answer questions
Chem101: inclass participation for LOTS of EC and weekly quizzes. but she makes her own exams. hard and SHORT-TIMING increases pressure (EX: exams are gated like SATs and AP exams). OBSESSED with punishing cheaters and will do everything in her power to prevent it (EX: looking at screen for "too long" is "cheating"). BORING lectures. i DISLIKED her
shes a decent instructor.... alot of folks are critical of her, but i think alot of it comes from just the fact that she teaches a more difficult subject. It wasnt an easy class for me, because it's chemistry, but somehow I managed to pass without too much difficulty... just do all the labs and you'll be fine
This class was pretty tough, but I think it has more to do with the nature of the subject, rather than the professor. The class moves at a reasonable pace only if you are totally on top of things, so the class basically forces you to get your act together and develop solid reading, note taking and time management. This class was rewarding.
Class content was kind of difficult so make sure you stay on top of things and read ahead. Overall lecture were clear and made sense but could be boring. The prof was honestly a bit rude to students and not super understanding. I wouldn't take her again because of that but it's overall not too bad.
She is a very nice professor who genuinely cares about integrity. Her tests are proctor-based, meaning she has students come online with cameras on and workspace shown which was fair imo. Her lectures can jump around though, hence read your material before class to have an A throughout. Don't miss any assignments, she does not accept late work!
Despite some negative reviews that made me fearful for this class, I believe Dr. Muzzi is a wonderful teacher. Chem as a subject is a little difficult to grasp, but Dr. M really does her best to explain the concepts in her lectures. Although her class wasnt the easiest, I feel prepared to take Chem 1A and I think it benefitted me a lot.
Loved her! Gives up to 30 points extra credit, 1-2 drops for quizzes, & 1 drop for exams. Didn't want us stressing about finals so she dropped/gave us a take-home lab final. Gives updates to prepare for class weekly and lectures are also very informative. Even gives a ton of in-class practice problems and works through them with the class.
Lots of EC, very little HW, easy Labs, you get full credit for doing the assignment. Many assignments are dropped including 1/3 Exam. Exams have easy calculations but tough concept questions. Easy A if you study the textbook.
This review is for Spring 2021. I really wanted to continue her class, but I regret taking her class. If you are very good at Chemistry, you will survive. If you need a teacher who can be accessible outside of the class, do not take her. She didn't answer to my emails. She didn't grade assignments on time. I didn't like her teaching style.
She didn't reply to students' emails sometimes. All along the lecture, she did not teach much. She did not even finish a chapter within two weeks. She was way behind her tentative class schedule. And I don't think she teaches the concepts well to students. So, students must do the pre-reading & self-study! Better choose another professor.
She's a really great teacher, just make sure to read the textbook, do the practice problems, and look back at the quizzes to study for the tests. The tests are pretty hard, but she does drop the lowest score for the tests, pre labs, lab reports, and quizzes.
Plenty of extra credit. Not heavy exams. You will be able to get A if you commit all assignments and exams.
I really liked Muzzi and her teaching. She made things clear (although I would always end up looking up a bunch of the stuff we learned about to make sure I understood everything). I took her for CHEM 1A and 1B. 3 exams, 1 quiz every week due on Sunday, and one final. Drops lowest exam score, gives extra credit for attendance, and Aktiv chem.
I do well in school but I had to drop this professor because I was failing. She is a tough grader and whenever I emailed her for things, she would never respond. I would not recommend this professor to anyone.
Well, I'm not sure if I will get an A+ or A, but I have 97%, so I will definitely have an A. Her lecture has good quality, but her lab class is quite hard. Her grading criteria are clear, but she is a picky grader. Exams are hard, so be ready to be frustrated for the entire quarter. One multiple-choice problem is worth 12 points in the exam.
I thought I did not like her until I had another chem professor. Her prep chem class is truly a foundation for chem series. Her class was so hard that when I'm taking 1A it felt so easy. There is no homework except weekly quizzes that gonna be in the exam. She is a tough grader so you gotta be cautious on the pre-lab and post-lab works.
Really cool professor easily passable
Dr. M is a good lecturer, but I don't like the format of her exams. The majority the exam is MCQ (5-8 points each) and if you mess up on multiple your exam grade easily goes down. The FRQ is much easier since we have enough practice. Don't take this class if your don't have time to study 16-20 hours per week. The exam average is usually around 70%.
I took her Chem 1A & 1B. Her lecture and lab is very clear. 3 exams (drop the lowest one)&1 final. Her grading is kind of tough but very reasonable. She also drops the lowest lab report, quizzes and give you extra credit at the end of the quarter. Overall it's not an easy class but you'll get A if you do your best for all required tasks.
Take Dr. M for any Chem classes! Chemistry is hard and you will have to do a lot of work, but her lectures are super helpful and she is open to any questions. She drops one assignment from every category (yes tests too!) and gives lots of extra credit. You won't regret taking her.
Best Chemistry professor! I loved taking her class. She is so caring and helpful. 2 Exams were multiple choice and 2 were free response. Lab exam was take home. Weekly quizzes were online and take home as well.
She's a good professor. Will answer your questions, has relevant material to the tests, thorough, and nice. She likes students that show that they care, so be on time and work with tact. I should have studied more for a higher grade, so be prepared to study properly. This course won't take everything, but it will take time.
I loved taking Muzzi's class! Her lectures are great and similar to tests. She offers lots of extra credit during class. Online quizzes each week. Pre-labs and lab-reports are usually pretty straightforward and aren't graded too harshly. Written tests, both multiple choice and free response questions. Make sure to do textbook practice problems!
Professor Muzzi is ok at best. While she seems experienced & is likely a good chemist, her energy comes across as though she is tired of the course. She does offer extra credit points during lectures. She does not offer exam study guides or practice tests, and the exams were brutal & long. She is lenient for lab grades, but exam grades were harsh.
Her tests are so long. She only gives 30 points of finla extra credit, even if you had more from aktive Chem. Quizzes every week online in aktive chem. She always prelabs and lab reports, and she is a harsh grader; she takes points for minimal things. Her lab lectures can be confusing. There are 3 tests, she drops lowest, and there is a final.
Professor Muzzi is really nice, but her tests are very difficult and you have to do a lot of self study in addition to attending lectures. Go to class and do the extra credit problems, read the textbook, do the homework even though it's not mandatory. If you're confused to go office hours.
She gave up to 30 pts extra credit if you did the aktiv chem problems during lecture. She explained concepts really well in her lecture so it was worth it to go. Exams were fair game cuz she let us have a cheat sheet front and back. She also drops a lot of stuff including a midterm. Study the aktiv chem problems, lecture notes, and textbook.
Professor Muzzi's class is challenging but manageable with the right approach. The weekly quizzes and lab reports require diligence, but unstuckstudy ai's study tools helped me stay on top of the workload. Overall, a rewarding experience for those willing to put in the effort.
Took her class during the spring and I wish I had her now in the fall. Her lectures are really clear, and she posts them on canvas for future reference. Tests aren't that bad, but only if you do *all* the practice problems from the chapters tested. Lab portion was pretty stress free since you're just turning in your data tables/calculations.
Muzzi is a good lecturer, and you will learn a lot, but her exams are very difficult with not enough time to complete all questions. She is also very picky with grading. However, you should be able to keep up and pass as long as you read the textbook, do the homework, and put plenty of effort into the class. You won't be getting an easy A.
Shes very clear with her lectures and mastering chem helped a lot with preparing for the quizzes she assigns online & tests she give out. There are lots of opportunities for grade boosts as well. Just practice and review the lecture notes she posts on canvas!! Study before labs because she might assign problems to complete before you leave.
Professor Muzzi is very well organized. Everything was clear from the beginning. She also gives extra credits. Her tests, which are extensive and fair, are the majority of your grade. Her lectures are informative. I personally enjoyed her course and recommend her.
Dr. M is a clear and concise lecturer. I also really appreciate her writing notes/examples during lectures, and then releasing said notes on canvas soon after. She also provides an insane amount of extra credit opportunities. They're quick and can bump up your grade, so def do them. Tests are tough, but practice problems help A LOT.
Chem-25 is an INTRO to Chem, and she expected everyone to know the concepts already and would be visibly annoyed if we didn't. She provides extra credit opportunities, which is nice, but her generally negative attitude overshadows that. If you want a professor who shows an ounce of care for her students (or even learn their names), don't take her.
I didn't think Professor Muzzi was THAT bad. Lectures are heavy and she only gave us two breaks during the whole quarter. There is a lot of extra credit, which can really help your grade. Quizzes are every weak, but online. She posts lecture notes. She has an annoyed attitude which makes learning chemistry less entertaining.
do NOT fall behind in this class!! there's 3 lecture exams (300 pts each), the lowest score dropped. quizzes every week, one lab and lecture final, extra credit. ALWAYS do the practice problems in the textbook and ALWAYS complete short answer q's first! also know lewis structures very well. if you arent great with chem, make sure u do all the EC.
She offers a lot of extra credit. Make sure to attend lectures otherwise your extra credit points are deducted. She goes by topics kind of fast. She let us take our lab exam home. Not a lot of homework just online quizzes and extra credit. 3 midterms total. Allows one sided cheat sheet on every midterm.
10/10 would recommend Dr. Muzzi. She is such an incredible teacher, she is great at explaining topics at the level of college students, and she is incredibly clear about what we need to do during labs. Lots of extra credit opportunities which helped my grade tremendously. Absolutely take her class if you can!!
There's 3 exams, but 1 is dropped + 1-2 online quizzes/week with at least 3 dropped. She's amazing at explaining things in detail and gives clear advice during lab. Very strict on deadlines. Allows 1 page of notes on exams/final. You will need to study very hard in order to get a good grade.
Dr. Muzzi is very good at explaining concepts and gave practice problems to ensure understanding. My downfall was falling behind in the reading bc it is impossible to catch up. Make sure to do optional HW and EC she offers. Exams were hard but followed textbook and labs were easily graded. She is very strict on deadlines but super funny and sweet.
She is a great professor. She may seem intimidating at start, but she truly wants to help you learn the content and pass the class. Her lectures are amazing and the worksheets she hands out are very helpful for the midterms.
She is caring, too caring sometimes. A VERY VERY tough grader, free response questions are hell because she deduce points over the littlest slip-ups. 9 points for one mcq question, WTH?! I really enjoyed her labs. If you want to be good, go through her notes for revision!
Literally the worst teacher I've ever had in my life, I took her course over three years ago and I still think about how terrible this class was. She is unnecessarily strict with grading, will mark you down for the tiniest things, and genuinely doesn't care if you pass or fail and will make no effort to help anyone struggling. Avoid at all costs
I don't have any hate towards this teacher I just have a lot to say. She is a cool teach she is kind of funny I guess. But she is the hardest grading teacher I've ever met. She always mentions how she is trying to prepare students for ochem but I don't understand when half of your class is failing exams you don't do anything about it NEVER TAKE
I can't handle her nit picks. Deduce over the little things and the exams were horrendous. no cruve, DONT TAKE.
She's nice and as long as you attend lecture and properly study, you should do okay. Plus she gives at least one extra credit opportunity per week + drops your lowest scores of everything except the final exam. Labs are straightforward and you work in partners. I can only see someone struggling if they can't grasp chemistry itself (not her fault)
