You cann tell this guy loves his field of study. He explains it in a way that makes you understand and wants the class to have a good time. You definitely need to study for the weekly quizes but the material should be relatively easy if you've ever taken a Biology class. I highly reccomend this guy!

I highly recommend this professor. He is very helpful. Attendance is mandatory. Quiz every class period that could be hard that I recommend studying for. Lab homework everyday that was not hard. He is a very cool professor and lets you out of class early almost every class. I would not mind having this professor again!

Such a good teacher! Easy to understand and i look forward to going to his class every week! Usually lets you out early, just make sure you study for the weekly quizzes its usually exactly what he tells you to study! Plus he's really nice to look at ;) I recommend taking him!

The Lab manual is mandatory so don't even think about skipping out on it. He tells everything that will be on the weekly quizzes in advance and they are from the lab manual, nearly verbatim. Homework is based off the lab in class, never takes over 30 minutes. He's not hard but he's serious about the subject. You do your work, you pass.

The class is hard if you are not a Bio major, but the professor makes it easier being very helpfull. he always makes it very clear what he expects from the class and on what we need to focus on to do good in the class. Just make sure you study for the weekly quizes.

The material is difficult. The quizzes are before we learn anything for the chapter which is ridiculous. He is a nice guy but he needs to change the order of the quizzes before the actual lab.

He is a good Professor. There are Labs every week, so buy the manual. Also, study for the weekly quiz. He tells you the section its going to be on. He is very helpful during the labs as well.

He is not a difficult professor he is just serious about the work you do in and out of class. He is very helpful and answers all of your questions. There is a quiz every week that requires studying as well as homework based off of each lab you do in class.

He is a great professor. Very down to earth and funny. The class required effort. The quizzes were very specific and you never know what he will put on it so study every week. The assignments are straight forward and not complicated whatsoever. I would definitely take him again and I recommend him to anyone taking Biology with a lab!

Very good Professor, He will always tell you what will be on the quiz for each week, Fair grader and loves his job. You will learn a lot and have fun. Coming to class is essential, that is the only way you will know what you need to study, you can always ask him questions and he is always there to help

He really makes sure you understand the material being taught. A quiz and lab every week so the lab manual would be helpful. Homework is easy just a report of the previous lab, no mid-term and final is a lab practical. He's basically an older student teaching the class, so everyone enjoys it.

Make sure you study for the quizzes. They are short but specific. The labs are straightforward as long as you take good notes during class. Ask questions, he's very friendly. But ask in class because he is hard to get a hold of outside of class. Easy A if you do the work.

lessons were always well thought out and on-level. Points were always well addressed and clarified. This professor always had a great disposition, and was alway approachable. If you want to learn and remain engaged with little effort take his class.

I think professor Urso is an excellent professor, he is always punctual eager to teach. On the other hand, I think if there is one thing that needs to be improved is the way the quizzes are being given. professor needs to go over the materials before giving out a quiz and students need to study the materials.

This professor is fair he gives work but not that much. Buy or rent the textbook you are going to need it. He is nice and is clear about the assignments.

You can tell Prof. Urso loves his field of study. He is able to explain topics in a relevant and exciting manor. Studying for the quizzes is definitely required but you learn a great deal of useful information so it's worth it. Highly Recommend him!

Professor Urso prepares our class well and makes the lessons interesting to the class. He elaborates on difficult lessons or concepts and will also provide you with extra help for things you do not understand. He grades us with a lab and quiz each week but will assign them to us a week prior so we have a fair amount of preparation time.

He is a great teacher, super laid back and made learning the material fun and easy to understand. The labs we do are actually pretty cool. Weekly quizzes are easy if you look at the material and the weekly assignments are not too hard. LOVED THIS CLASS TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN

Had him for Bio-100 lab. Very funny, very nice. Class was pretty chill, labs each week but they're fun. Quizzes every week but they're short. Take the class if you can, he's a pretty cool guy and the class is pretty cool too.

I really don't find biology interesting but Urso definitely made it more interesting and the class was interactive. The course work wasn't that bad, a little hard but what helped was how he connected everything to real life for us to understand.

He is very cool and knows how to relay the information to the students. He certainly makes lab fun and creative. If you do the homework, and at least make a little effort to study, then you will pass.

This professor is very helpful. I learned more during the lab than i did during the lectures. He is very clear and you do not get tons of work. you have one assignment every week but it is very easy and clear. He tells you what you need to know, which makes it easier on you.

Great professor. Going to lab really helped me understand the material we were covering in lecture. We had a quiz every week but they were right from the book. If you put the effort to do the work, you will pass.

Great lab professor. Goes into detail with each chapter. Lab is definitely more enjoyable and easier to understand than lecture. There are weekly quizzes and homework but if you study the chapter and do the homework you will be fine.

CJ is a great teacher! He's a cool guy who helps you a lot and clears up any questions you have. The hw is not bad and the quizs that he gives are pretty simple. Overall he's a really good professor and makes the labs fun and interesting

He is a good professor that is helpful if you have questions, but is sometimes confusing. He gives lab quizzes before every class and there is usually some sort of lab write up that is required for homework. The lab notebook is used for every lab so it is mandatory to have one.Overall, he is a good professor and I recommend taking him.

Every week we have a quiz and a lab report to write up. He does a decent job of explaining the lessons. He is a fun instructor with a sense of humor. If you study for the quizzes and put effort into the lab reports, the class is not hard to pass. He was a pretty good teacher. If you end up with him no worries. Plus he is not bad on the eyes at all.

He is very knowledgeable and helpful, yet the structure of the lab leaves much to be desired. You are quizzed on material you are you study on your own without any prior instruction. This leads many to actually comprehend the material during the lab, after they've just did poorly on the quiz itself.

Very intelligent and devoted professor! He knows what he's doing and talking about and will always help you out if you have any questions. He's super laid-back and easy going. Make sure to buy the lab manuals, we always use them. Labs are due every week and a quiz is given on the lab we'd be doing that day, all from the lab manuals!

Professor Urso is probably one of the best professors I have ever had. He is very helpful and considerate. His work is not too hard, the labs are tangable, and the quizzes are tricky. His lecture is not boring AT ALL, you'll always pay attention even if you dont want too. I definitely recommend him and his amazing teaching skills.

Lab quizes were tough since they had nothing to do with what was taught durning lecture but as the semester progressed, the labs and lectures went hand in hand. At the beging of every lab, there is a short quiz that you must study for although the lowest grade is dropped. He's very helpful in answering questions. I actually enjoyed labs.

Professor Urso was an awesome professor. In the beginning, the quizzes were harder, but as the semester went on they got easier and went more hand in hand with the lectures. I actually found myself enjoying lab more than I thought I would, and I liked how he was very helpful. Studying is required for every quiz if you want to do well.

Honestly one of the most clear and well spoken teachers I have ever had. He really knows his stuff, and definitely knows how to put it in a relatable manner so that everyone knows what he's talking about. Also, very friendly and down to earth. I would definitely suggest him to anyone who isn't a bio major for an easy fun class.

Super nice, makes really quirky jokes and keeps you interested. You go in, get your work done right, and your out of there. Super SUPER smart but does not talk to you like your dumb. No busy work, he's awesome. And super cute

He is very laid back, and is very knowledgable when it comes to performing lab experiments. Down to earth kind of professor who makes the lab that he teaches captivating and interesting. I would recommend him to anyone. As long as you do good on your quizzes and tests you will pass the class fairly easy.

He is very laid back but also makes sure you understand the material. His quizzes are easy and fair as long as you study. He is willing to stay with you for extra help if it is needed.

Pretty good, he makes the class much more exciting than it should be. His jokes are funny. His quizzes are really easy and he is not too harsh on grading assignments. so make sure you do well on those because the midterm is horrendous. The final is much easier.

Do well on the quizzes and the assignments. Does not accept late work. His setup for labs are confusing and unclear because he just says what to do, so you usually don't have anything to reference. Barely used lab manuel. Emails max three days before a quiz what it will be on. Midterm was awful, but curved. Final was easier.

TAKE HIS CLASS. CJ is a wonderful teacher and he's hilarious which is a bonus. The tests are challenging but he does his best to evaluate his class and work with them. Lab was kind of pointless but that was because our TA was horrible.

He is very helpful and will explain anything until you understand. The information can get difficult but he makes it fun and interesting.

This class is difficult. He does not take attendance, and my lab TA was actually cool and easy going. If Bio is not your major don't take this class. He does curve your grade but he curves it in a way where if someone scores 100 then the curve is not that big. His test are also extremely difficult. He's a cool guy but test are VERY DIFFICULT.

so exams are HARD and you def need to study a lot but he was absolutely my FAVORITE professor in 3yrs at MSU. hes really funny and good speaker so it doesn't get boring to listen to even tho its biology and I hated science before this class

Perhaps the toughest professor I've had at Montclair, but also one of the ones that I've learned so much from. Charismatic and passionate about Biology, Urso will drive you to new levels for a basic 100 class that you would have never guessed. His class is the definition of natural selection, study and survive or fail along with the rest.

Prof. Urso is awesome. There are 4 exams which require A LOT of studying, but he was always willing to help and answer questions. Before this class, I hated science in general, but thanks to Prof. Urso I now have an appreciation for bio. His lectures always kept my attention. He is very funny and caring. I definitely recommend taking his class!

Hot damn. Ridiculously attractive professor. And actually made biology interesting. The tests were super hard, but the lab was an easy A and a grade booster. Not once did I open the textbook and I got an 82, 86, 88, and 96 on the four exams. If you MUST have an A, be prepared to work your hardest. Overall, AMAZING PROFESSOR. Take this class!

Yes this class wasn't EASY, but it was still a good class. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, don't miss a class. Drops the lowest exam, and he is very helpful. Apply yourself and you'll get an A.

Prof Urso is a great teacher, but if Bio isn't your strong subject, you will have a tough time in this class. He comes to class prepared and is very good at explaining the information. The tests are very difficult but he does curve them. You need to put in a lot of effort in order to get a good grade.

One of the best professors I have had at Montclair. This is a hard course and the tests are very difficult but he does curve every test and at the end of the semester he curves your final grade. Don't be afraid to take this class, he is very approachable and I would definitely take him again!!

This class is alright. I have 0 interest in bio and the only thing that kept me focused is that he is super attractive. He curves grades which helps the students but the material is still extremely hard. I would personally only take him for his good looks. Definitely come to class because if you miss a class you miss a lot. Plus, no textbook needed

Professor Urso is a great professor! Even though the tests are very difficult, he curves them. He gives 5 pop quizzes, which aren't too bad. You really have to work hard for your grade but in the end, he is there to help you do well. This isn't a class to take if you're expecting to get an easy A.

This was a very challenging class that forced me to work outside of my comfort zone. You really need to study for tests because they are hard. However the Professor is really cool and helpful.

Professor Urso is a captivating (an handsome) professor who's excitement makes you enjoy the class. Class is not mandatory and there's no book but seriously come to class or you'll fail. Curves differently than other professors but does it fairly. In general he's an amazing guy who would love to have you leave smarter than you came.

Professor Urso's classes are funny and informative, but please don't take this as an "easy class" indictor. This class will require a MAJOR amount of studying, very difficult tests, multiple assignments(not weekly though), and attendence is mandatory. Despite all that, Professor Urso will help you if you let him know, and he is a generous grader.

Such a great teacher. Made me want to go to grad school for science because he did his undergrad in Italian literature. The tests are difficult but you will learn a lot of useful information. He does a great job of related the content to real life. Also great use of technology. Also loves to draw things.

CJ's lectures are so great and you learn a lot! He ended class early ever week. The tests are really hard but he curves everything so as long as you study and actually try on the tests you'll get a good grade. I don't even like bio and I loved his class! Professor Urso is really great at explaining all the lecture material and gives fun lab activities. His tests are really hard, so studying is definitely necessary, but he curves the grades on them!! Don't be frightened by the hard tests; if you need a science class, professor Urso is a great choice.

His lectures are beyond interesting. However the exams are nearly impossible. I had a 74% throughout the entire semester, but he curved the final grade and I ended up with a B- ( I wasn't happy about it, but at least I didn't get a C). Anyways... Lots of interesting TED talks, and labs. Would definitely recommend him.

Professor Urso is an amazing professor. His lectures are done in a unique way that makes his class unique and fun. He does do pop attendance quizzes so make sure you attend every class. Biology is not my strong suit and I did very well in his class. He is also not bad on the eyes.

I would HIGHLY recommend Professor Urso. He is such an amazing professor I cannot say it enough. He puts so much effort into his lectures, you can tell he enjoys what he does. I LOVED HIM! he's super funny and chill, always had me into the topic (even though i could usually care less about bio). He made class fun and although his tests are long, they're completely multiple choice and have a great curve! DEFINITELY TAKE HIM! you won't regret it, I was in a late class (5:30-10pm) but we only ever stayed till around 8pm.

Prof. Urso was an absolute pleasure to listen to. He makes difficult material seem easy. I've never met someone who was able to make a 3 hr bio lecture interesting. You can tell he is truly passionate about his students and what he teaches. One of his classes was so inspiring that it nearly brought me to tears. Very understanding/lenient. 100/10

TAKE HIM! Professor Urso was such a great professor. He respected everyone and was lenient. If you aren't a Bio person this class is very understandable and easy to pass if you put in the work, which is not much. He provides extremely helpful study guides that are exactly like the exams, so failing them is hard. He makes the lectures fun and clear.

Most chill and real professor, really changed my perception on what we consume and made me very interested in pursuing a scientific career. I am now a vet tech (which I so fun) and taking an A&P class to try for vet school :) Do the homework and study and you will pass this class. If you do really good on group work he gives extra credit too!
