I loved this prof!! Of course the class was still hard because it was chem, but it was easier than Jorgensen. She made cheesey jokes which were funny, and was always willing to help!
This professor is great. She explains throughly and gives a lot of points and chances. We do a lot of work but it helps you at the end. Great professor.
she's awsome u should take this class to get better grades
Easiest class you will ever take for CHEM. Explains stuff like we are in junior high...and explains everything that is on the exams.
she was awesome.her exams are pretty easy....just look over previous exams and practice how to do them and u will be fine.
Doesn't relate notes to material. Tests are nothing like aris, quizzes, or homework. Take Mason if you can.
Best teacher that I have had at UT hands down. Explains things in the most basic of ways the first time through them but then doesn't waste time on subsequent problems. Crystal clear and overall easy to understand. Exams are pretty much standard, they just differ on the material of course. Pay attention in lecture and you will do fine on exams.
She is good at explaining the stuff in her notes but the exams are nothing like anything else that you do in the class she focus on certain things alot and then those things are hardly represented on the test and the things that are barley talked about in the class are on the exam she is probably the best of any of the chem teachers though...
Great professor. She teaches slowly; which was great for me, because chemistry is not my forte. I preferred her way of going over things A LOT in comparison to Jorgenson who barely skimmed the surface. Her notes are printed off ahead and fill in the blank; not much is pulled from book but homework is turned in for grade
She is very nice! I love how she does notes--it is easy to following along--fill in the blank. You have online hmwk and quizzes but those are pretty easy. The test is similar to practice exams. Put the work in to understand the concepts on practice exam and you should be fine.
I loved this class! easy notes to take and follow. Online quizzes and homework. Exams are similar to practice ones. Definitely recommend her! TA was the only one who made us use our book, but other than that, never used it!
The best ever!!! Oh and not bad looking at all ;)
Very decent teacher. Can sometimes come up with very challenging test questions, and is a little bit boring, but other than that Claire is a very nice teacher, who actually teaches the material........unlike Jorgensen....
decent teacher, great notes and whatnot. HOWEVER, very hard exams... exam#3:class avg was 57% and she was like o ok it averages out with the other exams for a C... really? thats an acceptable grade?
Easy when taking notes, but once you see the homework in the textbook or online, you'll think, "Where did this come from?" "She didn't teach us this."
Nice woman but...... Homework is not consistent with what she teaches in class. If you love Chemistry and it comes naturally to you, then take her. If not, go with someone else. Exam averages for the class are D's and F's. You need the textbook.
I had hard time getting it up in chemistry class before i took Claire Cohen and now i have an A! she blew my mind!
i had a hard time getting it up in chemistry before i took Claire Cohen's class now i have an A! she blew my mind!
Dr. Cohen is one of the nicest professors you'll ever meet. She explains concepts very well. She is also extremely helpful in office hours, so don't be afraid to ask or approach her. We had three exams. She can test kinda tough (class averages were 62-69%) but you'll get the grade you want if you are willing to put in time. She's worth taking.
attendance isnt mandatory but if you want a decent grade you MUST go and you MUST pay attention. Her notes are vague and isnt very descriptive in explaining things. she's nice though...
She's a great professor and her notes are extremely helpful. If you really don't understand something she is available during her office hours and is definitely helpful in explaining things. This class doesn't have very many points though so every point matters, even on quizzes and home works.
She's great in that she eplains material very well and thoroughly. Very helpful during her office hours and wants to help you if you ask for it. Exams are very tricky though and she puts material on that you wouldn't expect so pay close attention to her notes! If you do this, you should do well in the class.
Dr. Cohen is very professional without being cold. Her lectures are worth going to even outside of the participation credit, and I really feel like I'm learning in her class. Her exams aren't difficult simply because her reference material is so good. I owe my progress in Chemistry to her entirely. Great professor!!
Cohen is the best chem professor I have ever had! She explains the material on a very easy to understand level. She is available to help during office hours, and is very helpful one on one. Her exams are not that bad if you pay attention in lecture.
She is the best of the best. Gen chem was a tough subject but she made it so clear and above all, she was so helpful. She gets short answer questions on the exam from the textbook. You have to pay attention to understand the stuff on her notes so don't just copy hers. With hard work, you are guaranteed an A in her class.
Dr. Cohen is a wonderful teacher. Her notes are amazing, precise without being excessive. Her exams are fair, she can be tricky, but would never throw anything at you that you haven't heard. I would definitely recommend her over anyone else.
An otherwise difficult course is made manageable by Dr. Cohen who is an excellent teacher. Exams are fair and provides relevant examples in class.
She goes at a good pace and a lot of stuff on the test are on the handout. Although some of her tests are hard, if you study you'll do fine. She even cracks a joke sometimes. Overall easy and nice teacher.
Hands down, best prof I've ever had. She is able to present all of the challenging topics in chemistry in the perfect way! Her class is not easy, its chemistry so lots of work needs to be put into her class. Take her over any chem prof. You will not regret it. She is also very down-to-earth. Take her! :)
She was very friendly & willing to meet with you if needed. Exams were hard & her lectures were very rushed, sometimes I'd even miss some notes. I studied a lot but struggled with her exams. A lot with the 2 online homework assignments. Worked hard, and ended with a B-, my lowest grade at UT. (I also took Bio 2 & Physics 2 so I had a lot going on)
Great professor! Deff take her, no but really.... take her :)
AMAZING.
By far one of the best professors I've taken. She is willing to help in anyway and provide tips for studying that WORK! I'm also taking Gen Chem 2 with her next semester. Definitely take her, shes the best.
I didn't mean to hit the hotness button.. but I don't see her in that kind of light. And since I can't undo that, I'd rather say she's hot than not, to be respectful. BUT, she is a great professor, and apparently does not participate in research, so she is completely devoted to teaching!!! (something like that)
By far my favorite professor at UT. She is great at explaining all topics in chem (even the really complex ones) and wants everyone to do well. ALEKS is really helpful and works as a studying method. Email her with questions, office hours and whatever else. Class averages on exams were 75% which is a B in the class. Amazing professor. Take her :)
Great professor! She was very helpful and nice during office hours. I recommend meeting her if you can. You only really use the book for homework; I hardly ever read the chapters and still did really well because she is so thorough in her lectures. It is easy to tell what information is going to be on the exam as she I ere specific with the topics.
Best CHEM 1230 or 1240 teacher at UT. I had her for both semesters and loved her! Definitely go to her office hours if you have questions. We rarely use the book in class, but I read the chapters and that helps a lot. Her notes are very good, the best I've seen at UT. I highly recommend her.
This class will take a lot of effort in terms of homework and studying, but to understand chemistry, this is necessary. Dr. Cohen is a very clear and straight forward professor, and if you work hard and seek help when you do not understand a topic, you should be successful.
Tests were all straight out of her notes, just like the practice exams she posted. Very helpful during office hours and overall fair teacher. Aleks takes a while but it is worth it as that and MC make up 1/3 of the grade. Should be able to get a B without trying, A with a few hours of studying a week.
Obviously, gen chem isnt an easy class, but Dr. Cohen is a really good teacher and really wants her students to succeed. She is very clear and explains concepts very well. Her exams are difficult, but if you really study you should be ok. They always give partial credit on the long-hand problems if you try. I HIGHLY recommend her class!
If you are taking Gen Chem I or II, definitely take Dr. Cohen. She is a wonderful professor who's driven strictly by teaching chemistry as opposed to dealing with research as well. What distinguishes Cohen is that her notes are all fill-in in class (so show up obviously) and not ppts. Tests are really easy. Just read her notes and ur fine.
She is a really good professor and her lectures are very to the point. She is willing to help, if you go see her. Make sure you attend class because the clicker points are very important.
clearest chemistry professor i have had. she is amazing and you should definitely take her. she gives practice exams and clearly explains everything. if you don't understand something go to her office hours shes just amazing. kind of looks like kate middleton
she's really nice and is always dressed to go on a safari and i think she's single now. ;)
Do yourself a favor and take her. Great professor!
Dr. Cohen was great for gen chem 2. She is helpful and her notes are very clear. I thought her class was very easy. There is a large amount of homework, but it helps for studying.
Dr. Cohen is a General Chemistry teacher for both 1 and 2; however, this summer, she taught Organic Chemistry 1 for the first time ever! Just like General Chemistry, she is the clearest, most wonderful chemistry teacher at UT and whenever there is an option to take a course of her's, you would be a fool not to.
BEST CHEM PROFESSOR. She has 3 not so long exams, 1 final. Her exams are easy if you study 1 week before the test because her tests are like her lecture notes and like her previous practice exams that she puts online. There are no trick questions . Her lectures are fun because of her clicker questions. She is very easy to approach. Take her!!!
Best teacher ever! I'm so glad I took her this semester. Her tests arent very hard. They're mainly from her lecture notes and some practice exams she puts online. Her lectures are pretty fun and they never felt long. I am taking her again for GenChem II!
Professor Cohen did a very good job at teaching Gen Chem 1. For one of the more difficult classes to take as a freshman she kept it as simple as possible. Dr. Cohen kept me engaged during her lectures which was a big help because she covered a lot of information. Overall a good experience
Best Chemistry professor out there. Grades fairly, very clear about what will be on exams, and uses great detail in class. Also uses clickers to keep students engaged and interested. I would recommend!
Her exams are simple and straightforward. There are no trick questions and she only tests you on the notes she gives you. She gives extra credit every week and provides outline notes to follow along during class. She's very helpful and keeps lecture interesting. I would always choose Cohen if she's an option. TAKE HER IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE
Even though I'm barely passing her class, I loved Professor Cohen. Her teaching style and note-taking methods are extremely helpful and clear cut.
Literally favorite professor, would highly recommend making your schedule around her class, lecture is super easy to follow and her tests are exactly like the notes and the homework/test ratio is balanced so its easy to get an A if you do all of the homework.
Dr. Cohen is an amazing professor! She made chemistry a lot easier to understand. You need to go to every class or you will fall behind. Tests are kind of tough, even if you study. Prepare for several hours of homework a night.
One of the best lecturers at UT. Her lecture notes make it simple to follow along, fill in the relevant material, and understand, without feeling like your hand is going to fall off from cramps. Explains things simply and thoroughly.
This is the greatear professor I've ever had in my life bro. She's the Bill Belichick of teaching she makes the most complex things seem simple, then they actually become simple. If she ran for president I would vote for her then run her campaign team. She's so helpful office hours, Emails she's good at all of. The Shaq of teaching. Dominant.
Dr. Cohen is the best teacher ever; take her no matter what time she's teaching. She is clear, she encourages questions and is easily approachable, and makes chemistry make sense and be fun. Her tests are very fair, no surprises. Can she just teach every science class I have ever??
Dr. Cohen is, in my opinion, the best the UT Chemistry Department has to offer. Her lecture outlines are well spaced out and she covers them at a very good pace. Her exams are very fair and similar to her practice exams. 10/10 would take again!
Her lectures are absolutely amazing. This is only her second time she's teaching ochem, and she's stellar at it. Her notes are great, really easy to follow. Her exams are based off of her notes. Just study the notes, and you'll have no problem getting an A! Clickers are fair too, you should have no problem getting all your points.
Finally a professor that actually knows what they are talking about. She really knows her stuff and she also knows how to effectively teach it as well. Go to class. She is a great teacher and you should have no problem if you attend class and do the online homework.
Basically, this class involved a lot of math and use of formulas. Shes pretty fair with tests and exams. She used mastering chem so the assignments were pretty easy. She runs like the wind in class but if you have questions, definitely raise your hand or go to her office hours. Its better to seat in front of the class
Dr. Cohen is an amazing professor. Chemistry is hard but she makes it a lot easier to understand. The best Chem teacher in my humble opinion. Study straight from the notes, her exams are very fair and straight from notes and practice exams. Clickers everyday for attendance. Final exam will kick ur butt though; brought me down from an A to a B+.
I'm personally not doing well in her class, but shes a good teacher. Writes out the notes and explains things well. Exams are adequate but she gives you practice exams which are really similar, but I feel she adds harder ones for yours. Nice lady and kinda cute. Teaches a hard subject and makes it tolerable. Again, exams are so so. Final will blow.
Definitely a professor I'd look for with classes at UT where applicable. Just put in the effort you usually put into a chemistry class and go to lecture as much as possible and you will have no complaints! Tests are difficult but fair, and she is a huge help with all types of questions, concerns, etc. !
Oh, Claire. What a lady. She straps up her hiking boots, and runs through the material about a mile a minute for 50 straight minutes, but she's hands down the best teacher I've ever had. Every Wisconsin - accented explanation of the material makes perfect sense. Also, every day is a good hair day.
Claire Cohen is one of the best Chemistry teachers out there. She takes a very complex subject and makes it so that anyone can understand it. Her notes are follow along, and it is pretty easy to know what is going to be on the test. Put the work in and you can get the A.
Claire Cohen is phenomenal. Her lectures are very clear and her tests are fair. You definitely need to study, but do the homework and you will do well in her class.
Dr. Cohen is honestly my favorite professor of all time. Although her tests can be difficult to some, her teaching and lecture style is super effective. This woman actually made me WANT to learn the material; that's just simply how good she is.
She slays. Took her over the summer and I have no complaints. Her notes are her exams. Very accessible in office hours and extremely approachable. Tests are always fair any anything I didn't know was something I knew I should have known. Utilizes entire class time to learning. Goes fast, but again, very accessible in office hours. 10/10.
Dr. Cohens organic chemistry class is pretty hard. The practice exams are usually easier than the actual tests so study everything. Make sure you go to class so that you get all your clicker points, and make sure you do all of your hmwrk because it does help your grade. Her test gets harder and harder over the semester so dont procrastinate.
Dr. Cohen slays. She knows her stuff. Her notes are clean cut and understandable. Study and you'll do decent on exams. Ochem is a tough class, so if you don't get it, well exams are hard. It takes effort and a lot of studying to do well, but Cohen is a phenomenal teacher!
Dr Cohen might be the best science teacher I have ever had. She takes complicated subjects like Organic Chemistry and breaks it down so that it is super easy to understand. She's alway accessible, and if you feel a TA has taken away too many points on a test, she will usually give you a few back. If I could take all of my Chems with her, I would.
Her lecture notes are super nice, they really spell out everything about ochem and make everything seem much easier and clearer. Her exams were good (taken from the notes basically) but she's not very nice about curving unless you have a high HW score. Buut she's willing to help you if you need it during office hours! Take her, she's awesome!
I had her for chem 1240 and 2410. Shes a great professor. She makes the material as clear as possible. The homework is ok. The exams are fair. I would recommend going over the notes and past exams. She records all of lectures so you can watch them again. The finals were difficult but doable if you study.
Dr. Cohen is hands-down the best professor in the Chemistry department. She gives you everything you need to succeed in Organic Chemistry. If you don't succeed then that is YOUR problem. Seriously, take her as often as you can.
Took her for another Chem class. Absolutely great. Midterms were fair and covered only lecture material. Final was easier. SUPER accessible, even outside office hours. Lectures are to the point, structured, and educative. Extra credit only offered on final exam. Will curve AS NEEDED if class does poorly. Very approachable and great rapport at UT.
I really enjoyed her asa teacher! I love the grading scale aslo, she awesome. But at the same time it is still chemistry so you do need to make sure you stay on top of studying.
Love Dr. Cohen! She's great at explaining difficult chemistry concepts. She gives the BEST note outlines EVER! Makes it a lot easier to go back and review the million reactions you need to learn in organic chem. She also posts all of her lectures online. Exams were graded very quickly. Looking forward to having her for O. Chem 2 next semester
She provides you with everything you need, but the material isnt easy. To get an A you definitely need to study a lot on your own. Rewatch her lectures if she posts them if not ask if you can record audio on your phone. Shes a genuine and shy person so shes really respected.
Had her for 2/4 of the Chemistries.. GenChem 2 & Ochem1. She is very organized and straight to the point. I've realized though that her teaching style works A LOT better for Gen Chem. She teaches quickly and her OCHEM midterms are difficult ESPECIALLY! If you are not willing to put in A LOT of work do NOT take her.. you will NOT do good.
Took honors gen chem 2 with her recitation. If you go to class (no attendance required) she will show you how to do every problem. Honors hw assignments are rather tricky so I suggest you always go to recitation. If you do not get 85% of above on the honors hw, you fail the class automatically!
I had Dr. Cohen for Gen Chem 2 and O chem 2. Her notes are amazing and she explains concepts very well. Her exams can be difficult, but she only tests over what she teaches! I wish I had more classes with her, phenomenal teacher!
I took Cohen for Gen Chem and really enjoyed the class and would recommend her for that. I also took her O Chem 1 and 2 classes and they were totally different. The notes were organized but made no sense. Shes doesn't help the class out even when the averages are in the 50%s there is no curve. Do not take her organic chem courses!
I have Dr. Cohen for three semesters, and she is AMAZING. I have so much better understanding in Ochem especially. Her notes are great and she explains everything clearly that you needed to know for the exam. Ochem is already hard on its own, so don't blame her if you didn't work for it. Make sure you understand her lectures, and you will be good.
Dr. Cohen is an amazing professor. I had her for gen chem 2, o chem 1 and o chem 2. Her notes are very easy to follow and she explains the material very well. Shes very easy to talk to during her office hours! If you can, take her. For o chem 2, you need to take the ACS national final and want a professor who actually teaches the material
I had Dr. Cohen for OChem 1 and OChem 2. She was incredibly helpful via e-mail. She will explain concepts clearly and in normal people language :). She definitely knows the material and does a truly amazing job of teaching it. Her tests come directly from the notes! I would highly recommend her!
Prof. Cohen is knowledgeable in chemistry and thoroughly explains material well in lecture. The first two exams were straightforward, but the third and final exams seemed to be much more difficult. She is nice and will answer any questions you have outside of class. Weekly HW online and in person. Not difficult if you study hard and often.
Cohen is one of my favorite professors at UT. I had her for gen chem 2, ochem 1, and ochem 2. She is easy to meet with outside of class and explains things in a way that an undergrad chemistry student may be able to understand. She is highly recommended.
Aleks is being used as the new homework platform, you can easily expect to dedicate 6-8 hours on the homework alone. Aleks terrible in this class cause your rarely ask the same questions anywhere else. First test score avg was 58% second one about 64%, exams are much harder than you are taught you need to be able to apply yourself in only 55min
I took this professor due to the glowing comments on this site. I don't know where they all came from. This is one of the most frustrating classes, and not only because the material is difficult. A good portion we spend a lot of time on are things not needed for her tricky exams and is 'reference only'. Very exam heavy, doesn't update BB until end.
Cohen is the best choice for Ochem. It is extremely important to do well on the first 3 exams because the ACS will bend you over. ACS avg. was a 62% and can break you! Be aware of that exam so you can go into it FEELING FINE about your outcome!!! Lectures are important, easy to get full participation! Ochem isn't hard if you WANT to learn it!!
Dr. Cohen is incredible! She writes the notes down as she goes, and is clear about what will be on the test so you know exactly what to study. Her use of ALEKS means homework might take a while, but she makes the topics relevant to the class.
Very good teacher but super hard class. Final was the ACS and there was no curve.
One of the best chemistry professors I had at UT. Takes the time to thoroughly explain concepts, especially those that she knows are extremely difficult. Provides many examples and is always willing to help. You will still have to study hard & put in the time/work, but she puts chemistry into a language that is easier to comprehend. Loved her!
I used to think much more highly of Cohen as she is the best chem teacher at this school but honestly after having her for a year that holds very little value. She is not that helpful when you ask her for advice, she does not prepare you for the ACS (the given final), and compared to actually good teachers at other universities she is no comparison
study your notes, understanding the material, she us the best professor.
Cohen is a really great professor! It's not an easy A by any means but you'll actually learn something in her class. Her notes are really incredible - I'm usually opposed to the idea of re-writing notes, but I got some of my highest grades when I did that with her notes.
Dr. Cohen is great at explaining the material and making sure that her students are comfortable with the topics being taught. Although the class itself can be challenging at times, with the help of Dr. Cohen and SI, it is VERY manageable. The first chemistry professor I have generally liked.
Dr. Cohen has been one of the best professors I've had for a while. Her exams are tough - but if you attend class, take notes, and rewrite notes - you can average a high B for every exam. She sometimes will curve exams as well. Always ask questions, she responds to emails within 4 hours. She's very caring and willing to give extensions as well.
Cohen is the best option when taking Ochem tbh. She really explain concepts well and responds to her emails within minutes. SI is a great option especially for people who hate studying like me. I stg my SI leader taught the class better than her. Her exams were pretty hard like the averages for the 3 were a C- and the final made matters worse.
I literally hated Gen chem so I was pretty scared going into Ochem this semester. Professor Cohen though not only made Ochem easy, but also enjoyable! Her notes are amazing so you don't even need the textbook at all. She is also very reachable through email and will answer any question you ask! I highly suggest taking her over any other professor!
Cohen is the best teacher out of all the choices. Since I took the class online, I found SI to be of better help than her lectures. It is harder to learn ochem online, and there was a curve at the end of the class since an A was a 93 in the beginning. You are likely to get a response within a couple of hours. Have to put effort for a good grade.
I took this class online fall2020. She is the worst chem prof so far(personal opinion). Exams are tough and not related to the practice. If you have any other options please avoid her.
I had Dr. Cohen for chem 1240 and I absolutely loved her. As long as you show up to class and take notes on her pre-made lecture slides you will do fine on her exams. Exams make up 70% of the grade, but they are truly not difficult as long as u put in the effort to learn. I recommend using quizlet to learn concepts and trends. Definitely reccommend
She was a good teacher and taught the material better then any chem teacher ive had at Toledo. However, she wasnt helpful when asking questions. At one point there were inaccuracies with my grade, as a student to takes my grades very seriously, I went to her to ask about the possible discrepancies and she very rudely brushed me off.
Dr. Cohen is the best chemistry professor you will ever have. If you have a choice between professors, no you don't because you should be taking Cohen's class. Her lectures are great, she's clear on what you need to know, and she always has review at the end of chapters. Take Dr. Cohen. Seriously.
Claire Cohen is the best professor in the chemistry department. She knows exactly what she is doing and does a phenomenal job at it. She makes it very clear what you need to know and prioritize. Very accessible outside of class. Lectures are great and really helps you understand organic chemistry. Please take her if she is available.
I took orgo 2 this past semester. Lectures are very good. Exams are hard. Rewriting notes helps a lot. Grade is based on exam. Best choice for organic chem
I had Dr. Cohen for CHEM1240 and CHEM2420 and she was one of the best lecturers I had. Lectures are very clear and organized. Grades are mostly exams and sapling homework. For Orgo 2 the final is ACS that covers Orgo 1&2, so I recommend purchasing the ACS study guide. Exams are somewhat difficult, so study! I recommend taking Dr. Cohen if you can.
Prof. Cohen was an amazing professor and made understanding O-Chem easy. I had her for O-Chem I and II and she was a rockstar in both. Tests are very easy to prepare for as she gives you outlines and practice tests that are usually pretty similar to the actual exams.
Gives homework before going over the material, then proceeds to not go over half the material on the homework before moving on to a new chapter.
Most stressful and confusing class I've ever taken at UToledo. For the entire first half of the semester, the homework is on material that is not covered until after the due date. Then, the MULTIPLE exams seem to cover completely different material. The class averages on exams ranged from 55% to 65% and we were essentially told it was our fault.
Wonderful chem professor, she really does SO MUCH to help you understand the topics. Lots of oppurtunities for points, some exams have 2-3 bonus Qs. Records her lectures if you want to refer to them when studying later (or sleep in). HW can be a lot, but it's consistent & allows for lots of re-attempts. Definitely check out the associated SI's too.
Pretty decent professor. I only watched the lectures online after class and it was the same as going to class in person. This course really is not that difficult if you put in the time and work to really understand the material. Her exams are not extremely hard and usually similar to the practice exams she posts. Last tip; go to SI sessions!
Dr. Cohen is AMAZING! Achieve homework takes foreverdo it early. A is 90%, A- is 86%. SI is a must in order to do well on exams. For the 1st exam, review lectures. For the 2nd and 3rd exam do as many reaction problems as possible! I recommend getting the ACS book for the final and using that throughout the semester.
OH. MY. GOD. One of if not the best professor/teachers I have ever had. I had her for gen chem 1, Ochem 1,2. I did fantastic in those classes thanks to her. She made the most complicated topics easy to understand. I mean I actually ENJOYED Ochem. Her classes can be tough but you will understand the content if you spend enough time.
Dr. Cohen is great! I've taken three semesters of chemistry with her and can't imagine taking it with anyone else. Her lectures are very organized and she's clear about what will be on the exam. She does move fast but is accessible and replies promptly to emails. SI IS A MUST FOR THIS CLASS. As great as she is, I would not have passed without it.
I did not have this professor for a class, but I happened to lose my wallet in the same building that she was teaching in and she came back from wherever she was to campus to return my wallet to me that day. She went out of her way to give it to me.
Amazing professor. I don't know what it is, but her lectures are very easy to understand and follow, even if you decide to join the livestream. Don't skip over a lecture and solely rely on the lecture slides. Exams weren't too easy or too hard; I score between 73-76 on all four. Practice exams help a lot
She is a great teacher who actually cares, I recommend her for any class she teaches. I had her for 1240, 2410, and I'm taking 2420. Attendance isn't required except on exam days because she records the lectures. She does do clicker questions for participation points but you can make them up with questions on blackboard with unlimited attempts.
Ochem is tough, but Cohen's lecture outlines are easy to understand. They're also easy to come back to later. She doesn't curve, but she gives a lot of opportunities to raise your grade through homework and participation questions.
I love Dr. Cohen!! The achieve homework problems are super annoying and sometimes hard, but Dr. Cohen gives room in her overall grading for mistakes. ACS final used:( STUDY AND PRACTICE PROBLEMS!!!!
Dr. Cohen is a good lecturer but a little fast. I just couldn't understand the material and I failed. I tried this course with a different professor and also failed, so I can't blame that on Dr. Cohen. She was email responsive.
Literally the best professor I have EVER had. All I did was rewatch her lectures, rewrote my notes, and did textbook problems during recitation, & got a 100 on all 3 exams! EXTREMELY clear about what is going to be on the exams, practice exams are very similar. Shockingly no youtube was needed you can learn it straight from lecture. I love her bro!
She is good professor but material is hard. I would recommend redoing her notes and the end of chapter textbook problems to get a better understanding prepare for her exams. EXAM 2 is the hardest so prepare quickly! ACS wasn't too bad but average was super low per usual. Doesn't curve, and achieve homework takes LONG to do so get a head start.
Dr. Cohen is a great lecturer, but Ochem can be tough. Her notes and Achieve homework help a lot, but SI and practicing problems are key to doing well. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for study prep - worth checking out alongside other resources.
dr.cohen is a really good professor, I took gen chem 1 twice because of trouble understanding the material but now I took gen chem 2 and got an A- from the first time (not too far from an A). She literally says what will be on the test, emphasizes what's important to know and her explanation is really good. Cant have a better Chem professor!
Best professor I have ever had. she explains everything like you are a second grader without doing it in a demeaning tone. Incredibly nice and test are very fair with what she goes over in lecture. so many points.
She is a great professor, and her lectures are really good. She makes sure you understand the material. I recommend taking her for chem 2.
Make sure you study hard for the first 3 exams bc ACS for ochem 2 is BRUTAL. Ochem 1 ACS was a cakewalk compared to it. The other 3 exams were very fair to the material. Dr. Cohen is very easy to follow and is very responsive over email. For ACS, all of the details are necessary to know. Including her lectures AND the ACS book.
Dr. Cohen did an excellent job of making difficult concepts seem simple. The material in this course is not easy but if you utilize the practice exams and practice questions you will do well. Attendance is not mandatory except exam days
I love Claire Cohen!!!!!! She makes chemistry very easy to understand and her class layout is very flexible. You can go to the in person lectures, join online, or watch the recordings. Definitely the best gen chem professor out there.
This course is very challenging. The ACS Organic Chemistry II final includes a lot of material from Organic Chemistry I, so you need a strong foundation. Lectures are dense and fast-paced, and exams are tough — no curves are offered. I recommend using outside resources like YouTube, textbook problems, or tutoring for extra practice- don't give up
she's very nice and helpful with any questions you have the exams take a bit to get used to but she's happy to explain anything to you, she also posts clicked questions on blackboard so in person attendance isn't mandatory
Great professor. Lecture slides are easy to follow, and she breaks down difficult concepts. Is very understanding during office hours. If you study hard, youll do well. ACS final is based on the official study guide. 4 extra cred points. recorded lectures. 3 exams, 2nd is difficult. The lecture slide font is too small to read in class, so BYOD.
