very dingy lady, sooooo easy we hardly got any test or quizzes. she was always late for class and cancel's alot. the only assignment we had to do during the semester was write papers, and she grades really well.
The class was really easy. She does not care if you are late for class and is a very easy grader. She is corny but funny.
Dr. Cowart loves what she teaches and her enjoyment brings you to love it too. She taught me to appreciate the greats in literature. This is what I think really matters in a teacher. Take all of her courses! She is really sweet and down to earth too!
I've had her twice and you just gotta love her corniness. She really is scatterbrained but she is so sweet, and you can ask for extra time if you're not finished with a paper, project, etc. If you're not a super serious person and want a laid back class, take Dr.Cowart!
Wow! Dr. Cowart knows her stuff and made it a very fun class! I found myself much more interested than I anticipated and I learned so much in her class! If you want to be interested in class and actually understand what you are being taught, I suggest Dr. Cowart! She Rocks!
DR. COWART'S CLASS IS EASY. SHE GIVES A STUDY GUIDE, WHICH IS THE TEST. SHE GIVE LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT AND IS UNDERSTANDABLE.
Dr. Cowart's class is very easy; you just have to study a little bit. The project is kinda bogus, but it's not hard. She gives journals, quizzes, and bonus points (all are easy). She knows her stuff, and you can tell she loves teaching it. The only thing I didn't like about this class was that we always seemed pressed for time.
this teacher is ok. she seems helpful but everytime she corrected my paper and I fixed the errors; she would always find something else wrong with my paper and give me an average grade. I made a C in the class, and I would only take her as a last resort! Look around at other teachers first!!!
I really didn't like her. I was 1 of the 2 people who consistantly made A's in her class. She's so unorganized, but she has a strict timeline that she follows. (figure that out yourself) Overall, she is pretty helpful, but she her disorganized style is not my taste. :(
I'm a business major so this class to me was super boring. That doesnt mean she was a bad teacher though she was actually great. Very helpful and nice. She has journals normally before each test that are due and the test normally arent that bad. At the end of the semester she also has big project students have to do. I would recommend her
My favorite teacher! She is soo sweet and funny. She grades really well, and is always willing to help. Not strict at all.. I'm taking her for english 102 too!
She is very nice. Do all your work and you will be fine!!
Very sweet lady. Loves what she teaches, especially the history realted to the subject. Easy, easy class...if you don't get at least a high C then you shouldn't be at SELU. She's always a few minutes late and does give bonus. I've had her twice and would take her again.
Dr. Cowart is awesome!! She is so sweet and willing to help. She will revise papers ahead of time and help you as much as you need! She is great! Take her!
She is one of the worst teachers Ive had so far. Very disorganized, never sticks to her teaching plan. It's almost impossible to get a desent grade on her essays
I thought Dr. Cowart was great. I previously dropped English 102 and took her internet class and passed with an A. She makes you post assignments to the discussion board which lets you see what other students are doing and how you compare. She didn't stick to the schedule but I thought that was to my advantage since I always had extra time.
Dr C can be very disorganized at times, but she is very helpful & understanding. The class overall was not too demanding, the exams did not cover too much material & she lets you choose which questions to answer. If you don't do so well on 1 exam there sre plenty of opportunities to bring up your grade.
Took this teacher because this site said she was easy. The truth is she is easy BUT veeerrry boring. The main way to make an A is to attend class because test are based upon lecture only. The fact that she's boring makes it difficult to make it to class. I never read any material and passed her class with a B
Great teacher. She's the type that will notice when you're really trying and will help you out in the end. The final is a little harder than the other tests but not much. Overall I'd recommend her.
Super easy. Only way to fail is if you dont read and you dont go to class. One or the other and you're fine. If you go to class you dont have o read the assigned readings because 9times out of 10 we read them in class. Pretty boring lectures, but she says exactly what's on the test. Two papers and one power point assignment. 3 tests 50pts each.
I took Dr C in a 50% 'net class & she was really nice. She teaches a lot of classes & tends to be disorganized which can be frustrating but she will bend over backwards to help you (she's not strict about deadlines as long as you turn in your paper). I got an A - class average was probably a C. Does EVERYTHING to prepare you for the proficiency.
I took this professor because she so highly rated. I have no idea how she got such high reviews here. She goes over the stories, but the way she talks is extremely boring, and she tends to drone on about insiginificant things. She also grades harshly, and is very disorganized, taking almost a month to grade an essay.
Dr. Cowart is a great teacher; she really wants you to enjoy the works you read, and wants you to learn! She gives quizzes that are super-easy, and a project that is pretty easy as well. Her exams are part essay, but she grades pretty fairly. Great class!
Dr.Cowart was an okay teacher. However, she is extremely unorganized, and she takes forever to grade everything!
Claire Cowart is Danielle Cowart just FYI. But I recommend taking her because she's a VERY nice and caring lady, and her class is easy. Quizzes are laughably easy but tests are more challenging so study, but she gives a study guide. And we didn't have to write any real essays YAYY!
She talks so slow and with long pauses. It was a real effort to pay attention. And she takes FOREVER to grade. It's the last day of class and none of my papers are graded.
Dr. Cowart is a very passionate teacher, and she is very kind. She is a tad on the boring side, and she grades papers really hard. Her tests, however, are EXTREMELY easy.
She lost a couple of my papers that I emailed to her for our 50% online course, and I would have to show her in my "Sent" folder and forward it to her a second time. She grades papers very slowly. Be prepared to make corrections more than once on the same paper. Aside from that, fairly sweet person & published author.
Very nice lady. She'll put you to sleep but she's really helpful and knows her stuff. Tests are all written but she gives a really good study guide. Take her if you're a science major and don't want to have to get super involved in an English class.
She doesnt use a grading scale on papers, which can be good or bad. Her tests are extremely easy. She speaks very slow and out you to sleep. She is very lenient with turning in assignments.
She is probably the most boring teacher I have ever taken. I either wanted to fall asleep or study for another class during her lectures. However, I could tell she means well and really cares about her students and what she is teaching. If you decide to take this class, make sure to not take it too early in the morning because you will fall asleep.
Take her. Is an easy A. She gives lots of bonus.
Such an easy A and I didn't read half the stories. Go to class though! She gives bonus at the end of the semester for it!
I did NOT like this teacher. I am an English major and her class was so confusing. She would drone on and on about things that ended up not being on the test. At the end of the semester she decided to start giving pop quizzes. Most in class discussions usually were her opinion. She'd be nice if she wasn't a teacher.
She's amazing if you want to make an A take this class !!! She is very straight forward. The class is interesting and she's goofy. SHe explains word for word what you need to know and is so sweet. Easiest class ever.
I would NOT recommend taking her. She would tell us to write essays, but not tell her what she wants, and then get mad and make us rewrite them, and still not explain what she wants! Her lectures were super boring and her tests were the worst! You had to write 4 essays and 6 short answers, within the test time period.
This class requires effort and actually reading the stories. Dr. Cowart is so sweet and so willing to work with you if you need it. I would definitely take her again if I could.
I took it online and it wasn't terrible but she was a slow grader. I understand She has lots of students but I once waited 3 weeks for her to grade one of our exams. That's too excessive to me. Class was pretty boring and she was unorganized but if you do your work and read the selections you should make an A
She's okay. You always have a paper to write. She grades a little tough, but you have more than one chance to revise it. We took maybe two tests and they were really easy. She doesn't do many lectures, but when she does talk a lot, it's easy to get bored. She'll dismiss class early sometimes. Overall, I liked her.
Probably the most boring class I've ever taken. I can't stand her facial expressions or her voice and she drags lectures on longer than necessary.
boring
Dr. Cowart is probably the best teacher I've had at Southeastern so far and this is my third semester. If you go see her in her office, she basically tells you word for word how to fix your papers. She saved me from getting a C this semester because of how helpful she was. She gives a 10 point bonus at the end of the semester, so go to class!!
This was by far my favorite English class here! She is very kind and down to earth, and I would take her again in a heart beat!
Dr. Cowart always emailed me back and gave clarification to questions, she was very helpful and understanding. You will have to read short stories and poems, in order to do discussion board. You will need to learn about your authors, their lives and what era they wrote in. Loved class and learned literature era's,very interesting.
Dr. Cowart is a nice but very boring teacher. She grades essays extremely hard, but she lets you submit and rough and final draft. Her lectures are oftentimes pointless and she will drag them out for as long as she can. If you visit her during her office hours, she's very helpful. Also, she responds to emails very quickly.
Boring! Please do not take!!! I had a perfect 4.0 and she ruined it for me. She is not clear on what students are supposed to write, doesn't focus on MLA which is the core of the class. Sweet but horrible, DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!!!! I WARNED YOU
Thumbs down
She was very clear about what she wanted from us. We had three exams, including the final. The test are not multiple choice, they are all essay. The final was open book. Offers a lot of bonus. I would take her again. You have to read the stories and really understand them in order to pass.
Easy class, you really just need to go and pay attention. She talks a lot but it is all very helpful for tests and such. You should print out everything that she puts on Moodle because it helps a lot on her tests!
She was a great teacher. Most of the stories were discussed together in class. make sure you go to class to really understand the stories for future tests , but overall her class was fairly easy if you showed up.
This was the most boring class I have ever taken. Before this class I disliked poetry, and now that this class is over, I absolutely HATE poetry. She lectures on a lot of stuff that will not be on a test. The first test covered waaaaaaaaay too much information and was confusing. Take someone else if you can. She's a nice person.
She knows her stuff which is good! She is actually a great teacher, she just kind of goes on and on about certain stuff which makes it hard to sit through sometimes. A really nice lady, its just not necessary to go to class everyday!
Dr. Cowarrt was the rudest professor I have ever encountered. She always had an attitude and would tell students their opinions on Shakespeare were wrong. Her tests are pointless and are an exercise in regurgitation. The class was fairly easy and she did offer one extra credit assignment.
She kind of drones on about the subject matter. Most days hardly anyone in the class would answer her questions when she would attempt to make the class participate. Make sure you meet the word minimum requirement on the discussion board or else she will take points off. If you don't miss more than 3 classes there's an attendance bonus.
I hated Dr. Cowart. I'm an English major, and I ended up having to drop the class. The quizzes on the readings ask a lot about details. Her tests are all short answer/essay. She grades pretty hard on in-class essays. She made us do a group presentation on an author we were studying. Really not worth the stress.
Besides being 5 minutes late to class, she is so worth taking!! Her tests are usually 4 short answer, 2 essays (2 paragraphs in each), and around 15-20 questions where she gives you the question and you write the answer. SO EASY!!! And she is super sweet, grades easy, and will sometimes let you leave early.
she is overall a bad teacher. She was always late to class, boring, very forgetful and full of excuses. She forgot presentations days, lectures, and even our midterm. She grades hard but doesnt explain what she wants from the papers or how to go about them. She also takes months to put in grades, I had to consider dropping because of that.
Dr. Cowart is one of the best teachers I have ever taken. She is very helpful as long as you put forth a little effort. I would highly recommend her. This is not an easy A, but she is not a difficult teacher.
Kind of boring, very monotone voice so dont make this your first class or last. Wants students to participate, but likes to talk a lot. Books are mandatory and there will be multiple papers as well as a few 4-8 page ones. Mostly sit in class and talk about books. Crams a lot in towards the end of the semester
I did not like her class at all. It was either write it the way she would write the essay or you would not pass. Everyone in this class had to rewrite an essay at least once even if they went to someone else and they said it was fine. Even if you meet with her, she does not help better your essays. I definitely WOULD NOT take her class again.
Really easy class if you have decent reading comprehension. The only time we had to write papers were for the tests, which we only had 3 including the final. Do the discussion forums she posts to Moodle, read the required readings, and you'll be fine!
You read quite a bit, but she is very caring. Her grading criteria are clear. She tells you exactly what to expect with papers and exams. She is very passionate about this class and you can tell that she cares a lot about her students.
this is my 2nd time taking her and she is still very monotone yet mousy at the same time (?) she gets behind schedule a lot because she lets students push back their presentation days; she crams a lot of things at the end of the semester. tests are mostly essays and paragraphs. lectures are very boring but helpful because she reviews for test.
Dr. Cowart seems like she wants to be a good professor, but she is very unorganized. Due dates are inconsistent: different dates, different places. She is constantly late with posting the material for the week, which means students have less time to complete assignments. She grades extremely hard. If you want more structure, pick another professor.
Very hard. she changes the schedule of everything every week. Only gives u a couple days to do and revise a paper before the due date. takes forever to grade papers
Prof. Cowart was a good teacher! I liked her class. She explains the stuff we read completely. Be prepared to read. It isnt a lot, but reading will help you pass.
I felt like I knew more about certain material than she did at times. But an overall likable person. Grades hard on the papers, but very reasonable on tests.
She talks a lot about the authors - I mean, a LOT. Her expertise is Irish history, so when you get to an Irish author, get ready for two classes just on random, mostly irrelevant Irish history. Also, her voice is incredibly monotone. Super hard to focus and soak up the material. Lots of reading. I wouldnt take her again.
I really enjoyed her and her class! She cares so much about her students and will work with you on just about anything. She understands that were all humans and that things happen, so she won't be mean about you missing a deadline if you have a reasonable excuse.
The class was overall easy if you do the work. The readings are not bad. She is nice. Time was an issue for some tests, but she grades easily.
Dr. Cowart is absolutely amazing. I did take her online, but she is so helpful and accommodating. Even with everything going on, she made sure we knew what we were doing and where we stood in her class. She even held an online meeting to make sure we know our poetry. Would 100% take her again.
She is really sweet, likes keeping students engaged and really cares about her students. If you don't get to take her for an english class at least once (I have twice) you're missing out, definitely one of the best professors ever!
3 papers, 3 Forums (which might as well be papers), 1 verbal/pp presentation, plus the final. She explains everything and is an interesting teacher. However, she is an extremely hard grader!! She did give an opportunity for revising papers which was great. Heavy reading class.
I love Dr. C! One of the sweetest professors at SELU. If you have issues, you can always email her and know that she will be understanding of your situation. If you want to pass, definitely read the material, pay attention, and participate during her lectures. I did that I didn't have to study for any tests in this class. I also learned so much!
worst class Ive ever taken in my entire life. Ive never had a class like this before ever was shocking just how bad it was. She refused to grade anything so we never knew how we were doing. Shes a critical grader&everything we do in class is pointless&serves no overall purpose. several exams, all impossible to pass as theres no way to prepare
I have no tips. Its impossible to do well here. She never knew any of our names. Never graded anything. Always late to class. Exams were impossible to pass. Good luck if you dare to attempt this class.
Dr. Cowart is not a hard professor, she asks you to read too many things simultaneously. I did not read hardly any of the required material and have an A in the class, but be sure to do well on the discussion posts as there aren't many grades other than exams. Her exams are confusing, but you can make up points through the take-home essay portions.
She assigned stuff, made sure we had ample time to read the assignments. She wanted us to actually read it, so her quizzes were based off the material and very specific. Good prep for the exams. Exams were thoughtful, and if you knew the stuff, they were easy. Very responsive to emails, would answer questions. Definitely would take her again.
Get ready to sit and listen to stuff you don't care about for an hour. It felt like being trapped in a prison cell. I had to divide up the time left in the class like the Navy Seals do when they're trying to make it through Hell Week. If you're trying to get an honors credit... do it somewhere else.
The lightest workload I have had in a class. There is 3 tests, and you do a discussion and a quiz every two weeks. No need to read every poem, but have a clear understanding of the poems, and you will pass. Tests are very easy
Dr. Cowart was not the most interesting professor I had however, her work load was very easy nothing crazy beyond a project due at the end of the semester. She never gave a bad grade on opinionated things, which was a majority of the grading, she would critic it but never take away credit. She has a tendency to make things seem harder than they are
Overall, not bad. It was important to come to class bc we were watching adaptations of Shakespeare plays that were not free to access. She does tend to talk on and on when discussing the plays. The instructions for an evaluative essay were unclear, just given some things to consider, no guidelines or rubric. One group project, it was easy though.
This professor is so kind and one of the best English profs I've had at selu, her assignments aremostly forum posts, and tests are half and half multiple choice and easay questions. There is a group project where you do an overview powerpoint of a specific literature thing (something from class), she also is very good at explaining the stories
i dropped this class bc i switched my major and didnt need it. however, it was THAT hard we had to read a story or poem before every class and then in class all we did was read it again and she would talk anout it, class was pretty boring. we had to write 2 papers and they were fine. it was just a very boring class.
