Informative, fun and very interesting, certainly has a way of making what I thought was all about dates, to life. Totally enjoyed the class and am thinking about taking the US History class she will be teaching next! Loved the Roman coins.
She's a good teacher, just keep up on the reading and take good notes! She will mention things that are on the test and not in the book during her lectures. She does bounce back and forth in the lectures, but that's because she loves the subject. Give yourself at least 3 days to study for the tests. If you do that you'll do great in the class.
I thought this teacher was cool because she brought together the background information needed to understand movies like 300, jerusalem, kingdom come that i really didnt care to watch. After taking her class these different periods in time had a lot more meaning.. cool attire also..
Took the US history Sum. sess, She gave 1 week prior notice for essays/tests, which would be on subjects she lectured on up to the day they were due. The required reading was roughly 75-100 pages a night towards the end and the class was 3 hours 4 nights, noticed several times when she went against the book and would often talk sporadically, bad!!!
Not always prepared for class. Late the first two days. Talks really fast. Lectures are that, none stop talking. Could have been a lot better by asking better questions and getting. Essays were not clearly defined, half the class had to start over the day before they were due because of lack of explaining exactly what she wanted.
If you take this class make sure you get clear directions from her. The formal essays are demanding, especially if you have never done essays with a thesis statement. GET HELP with the essays. Show up for every class this is very helpful. Lecture's are boring, but take good notes and the test are not to bad. Good Luck!!
I never liked history before taking this class. She is very knowledgeable about history more than just places and dates. Comments and questions from the class made the lecture topics more enjoyable. Be prepared to study a lot for tests and write a decent essay with a thesis and references!
The best and worst class I have ever take. The information is great but The as she grades is way harsh. She is not nice but an inteligent person
Worst class i ever took. more than half the class ended up dropping her cause she grades like an English teacher. If you're not a mind reader, u will not get a better grade than a C in the class. She is one crazy teacher. Be prepared to write 2 five page analytical papers. Just a warning, you'll never get an A on those essays! Also ridiculous tests
THE WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN IN MY LIFE. 1 hr and 20 min of lecture that's just non stop talking. Her blue book exams are painful but not as bad as the 2 analytical papers she gives that are impossible to get an A on. I got a B overall but I definetely don't recommend her at all. I dreaded every day I was in her class. DON'T TAKE
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I won't even interject my own opinion, I'll just give the facts...1- ALL WRITING! journal writings, three lengthy papers, and tests are all handwritten essays. 2- Tests are ALL based on her lectures only. 3-Doesn't provide specific assistance if requested. 4- Hard to get a hold of.
This is a very fast paced class. She is very passionate about history. But she is all over the place with the lecture which makes it hard to keep up with what she is talking about. More than half the class dropped out, started with about18 and last day of class was 5!! Essay's extremely hard and highly recommend you learn!!
She was a good teacher, definitely a lot of work for this class. This won't be a class you can skate through, you have to show up and participate. Tests are very legnthly- my hand cramped every time! She was actually really easy to get ahold of, but doesn't care about excuses, kind of a no nonsense teacher.
The information was great! I really love History anyway. BUT I dreaded this class. The essay tests are ridiculous-I did get an A on both-but seriously? Just knowing the information isn't enough, you have to write it from her perspective. She is also unclear in what she wants from you in the essays, also jumps around quite a bit in her lectures.
This prof is way too tough. Essays are like that of Masters classes, tests are extremely long and essay/ short answer only. Hardly used the book, hardly updated D2L except the night before classes. I was left unprepared several times b/c I work and can't check D2L often. If you want an easy A, take a class with someone else.
If you want an easy A, why are you in college? Why is that the only criteria for a quality class? I enjoyed the class. Yes it was hard, but I learned more in her class than any other so far. It is worth taking if you care about learning. She is extremely helpful and willing to work with students to help them out, but you have to be willing to work.
She is very disorganized, unclear about assignments. If you have questions, do not even try to ask - she will ignore them. Some things on D2L will never work, and this is your problem; you are still responsible for the material and assignment. Do not recommend taking her
Do no recommend taking her. She is very disorganized and unclear. Even if you work really hard and put a lot of effort, you will not get full credit, never! She will always find something wrong! Very discouraging. I learned that no matter how hard a student works, it is not enough for her. Her class made me hate history.
It seems like one of her goals is to vanish critical thinking from her students' minds. You have to answer the questions from her perspective; otherwise, you'll fail. For her, a student does not have an opinion about history and should not have arguments different from hers. Do not recommend taking her. Disorganized and unclear.
Stay away from this professor!!!
Instructor is highly knowledgeable, passionate, & fair. Expect to work hard. She'll stretch your critical thinking & writings skills; and she expects student independence--all worthwhile for those aspiring beyond the hand-holding JC. For her D2L class, expect delays in grading. Best to reach her via text.
if you take her class you will wish you never took her class. she is probably the worst history professor at ARC. her class is very boring it feels like forever in her class. Even if she is a last resort because all other history classes are closed wait till next semester trust me it better to wait than fail horribly.
I think all of the good comments on this page are her because the words that are used and way the are used seems like the person is talking about herself. this teacher sucks man stay away man.
This is a easy class, but have to keep up with lots of work. Teacher is okay. My issue was not getting the grades back on time, never knew what my grade was until end of the semester. Professor says email for more detail of answer but take to long to respond back, answer text message fast. I won't recommend take this class.
No idea what my grade is as she has not graded anything since the 4th week. She comes out of the gate strong with her expectations and requirements, but clearly does not hold her self to the same rigid standards. Even if I end up with a passing grade, my recommendation is to avoid her. She seemed disorganized and in a constant state of disarray.
She has a ton of knowledge about history however, she is very unorganized. She has syllabus. You will not get your grades back in a timely manner and she relies heavily on D2L but does not update it as often as she says she would. Her lectures were fairly interesting and if you pay attention and do the work you will at least receive a C
She knows her history but her lectures can use improvement. The class is not an easy A, so be prepared to study hard. The test are tough, lots of reading and writing, its all up to YOU in this course. If you do all the work your lucky to get a C and that's no joke.If you have poor study habits and do not like writing this is not the course for you.
She is a very helpful and interesting professor. She believes and is knowledgeable in history. If you want an easy A why are you in college?
good teacher but very one sided and opinionated.
Claire is a cool person! I liked her alot and she doesen't allow you to make excuses. She forced me to learn alot in this class and I thank her for her skills. She is super hot as well and that kept me interested.
She is a FAIR grader, but she is tough grader. Her lectures are clear and informative, and her discussion boards are usually very interesting. When it comes to grading, don't hold your breath, she takes forever to grade. If you take her, really study for her exams, and read, read, read, and read all the materiel it will help.
Final class to get my A.A. degree and by far the worst teacher I had at Los Rios district. Lots of homework, exams are hard and she doesn't grade your stuff, literally! I got my end of class grade without even getting grades for all my work. She closed D2L before even posting all of them. She wrote a nasty comment in email when I asked for help!:(
This is one get ready to get down and earn style your grade Professor. If you are looking for a handout grade, then keep looking. If you don't mind working for what you get, then no problem. I had perfect attendance and completed every assignment. I am a working adult w a fully loaded lifestyle and was able to pull a B out of this class.
She really likes what she teaches and comes off as being a very cool and informative person. Writing intensive class if you really do the work. Study up and get a well-deserved grade. Make sure to ask questions in class and get to know her. Let her get familiar with you don't just be another statistic. There to help you BUT put effort into it.
Professor Eberhardt is a unique teacher. Her first class lecture made the class very intimidating, we in fact started the semester with 40+ students and ended with less than 20. That being said she REALLY knows and LOVES the subject. This class was part of a 21 unit semester for me and I passed with an A. It is possible but be prepared to work!
Very into active participation and group work. Refreshing view on history, makes connections with trends in ancient world to trends in the modern world. Very lecture and homework intensive, guard your journal with your life! Also likes to joke around and have fun from time to time.
Prof Eberhardt is extremely passionate about history and it shows in her lectures. LOVED this class. She's really down to earth and personable and even inspired me to minor in history. Don't miss class and do the assignments. There's a midterm and a final but she gives you a study guide and most of its on the journals and short answers.
Takes forever to get assignments back. makes sure you have every little part of information in the essays and the correct order. Even if it doesn't fit in the main point included it some how She gives you all the questions prior to the tests and quizzes. So, you end up writing 6 essays and information on 65 topics for the final for 1 essay 10 topis
Not the most organized, and I feel I suffered because of the fact it was online, I'm sure I would have done better in a classroom. Good teacher, just tough and needs to work out a few of the kinks.
This class is very time consuming. Be prepared to read the book, watch a 1-2 hour lecture each week, reply to a discussion post, and answer 4-5 short answer questions (which really aren't short) and or a quiz. She takes FOREVER to grade the work. She rarely responds to emails that you send her unless she finds them important.
Very knowledgable. Do the work and get a decent grade. Passionate about History
Seems disconnected from class, extremely disorganized, poor communicator.
I took Claire Eberhardt for History 307 online and let's just say she is tough. I originally planned to take her face-to-face class during summer however, I am not glad that I did not. I received a C in the class and I honestly blame it on the structure.
So it took me about 4 weeks to get used to her teaching style and by that time I was pretty far behind. She uses D2L like the bible so you really have to be on it. Also you have to be on top of the notebook. In the beginning of the semester she checks them a lot and then the end tended to forget to grade them. Barely used the textbook.
Professor Eberhardt is one of the worst. she whispers the lecture like if she is telling you a secret. she makes the subject harder than it should be. gives lots of work and she expects students to study for the exam in a short time. exams are hard and she never gets satisfied with the answers a student writ. DONT TAKE HER IF YOU WANT TO PASS.
i loved this teacher! There are quite a bit of readings you have to do followed by questions which are not difficult. plus you go over them in class in case you don't understand them. she gives a study guide of terms that will be on midterm & final & are long answers but she tells you what she expects from your answers so it was pretty simple.
I took this class as part of the ACR program! Oh my , I wish I never had taken her! She's the worst! I mean she loves history and I could see that she is passionate about it but dang she lectures so much and it seems like she likes to hear herself talk. Her quizzes and exam were not direct! We didn't even use the books that was required!
The first day of summer class she was late and did not have the syllabus or roll sheet for us. Her lectures are interesting but she is never prepared for class. Half way though the semester we had our midterm and a paper but it took her almost two and a half week to grade them. Noting was put into canvas so I don't know my grade.
Professor Eberhardt knows what shes talking about. However, it was unclear what you needed to take notes on and it was difficult to keep coming to class just because the subject was not that fun. Just do all of the assignments and youll get by.
I took her HIST308 class online People complaining about the work and lectures must normally only take on very easy classes. The weekly work boiled down to a 1-2 hour lecture that I could listen to in the car or while doing chores. One chapter from the text (45mins or so) and one discussion with a short reading Exams were neither too easy nor hard.
I've only been in the summer class for 2 full weeks now, but her format comes out to a couple of hour-long lectures a week that honestly could have been just 20-30 minutes if she didn't speak so slow and have so many pauses. The lectures are also annoyingly quiet and dry, it sounds like she wishes she was doing ANYTHING else.
Shes a great professor but her lack of organization and communication is incredibly frustrating. I love the sources and the material we used to learn. Her assignments were brutal if basing on rubric. The actual grade? I dont know, she still hasnt graded material from the beginning of the semester..
Very lecture heavy. The lectures are long and they could be shortened. She does not grade assignments or exams months after they have submitted. Thus, you won't know your actual grade in the class at all. But, she is very nice, and communicates pretty well. She is very knowledgable and passionate.
Professor Eberhardt is truly one of the most horrible proffessors I have ever had or attended class with. She treats all of the students like absolute children and never makes her work or lecture notes even CLOSE to understandable.
I really wish I went on Rate My Professors website before I picked this teacher. Her lectures are over two hours long and she over explains everything. She takes forever to grade our work, almost over two weeks or more. During exam weeks only increases the workload. At one point added an extra quiz and two assignments. She is a terrible professor.
She usually posts about 1-3 lectures a week, all an hour plus, she sounds very uninspired and bored while speaking, and requires you to use nearly direct quotes from the lectures in test answers, even if you answer the question. She doesn't submit grades until the last second, so if you do assignments wrong, you won't know until grades are due.
WORST professor ever truly wish I checked rate my professor first... lectures are INSANELY long, and the saved versions she sends out are simply unreadable. Grades SUPER slowly and SUPER tough. The first test of the class was a 3 HOUR long exam and all essay questions. There's simply no reason to enroll in this class, just don't.
This teacher is not very great. They assign so 5-6 assignments a week and never grade anything. It's the final week of school and there are only like 7 things graded. She bases everything on her lectures which are like 5 hours long every week and if you want to read the slides, good luck, she hand writes them and it is very messy.
This professor is absolutely horrible, please AVOID this professor. Her lectures are horrible, her grading is horrible, her handwriting is horrible, her communication is horrible, her whole persona is horrible. I wish I never took her class and I hope you don't either to save you the stress and burden. So many assignments, papers, and discussions.
I want you to know that I am a very serious returning student who has a long-lasting love of history (history podcasts are my go-to), so I thought this course would be a treat. This class was awful. Please do yourself a favor and pick a different professor.
I beg of you Please, do not take this professor. It's not that she is tough, it's that she is very bad at her job. I am planning on talking with the school because this is a serious issue how bad of a professor she is. The lectures are 2+ hours long and she gives you 3 or 4 of them a week. I have so much more to say with so little room. Trust.
Lots of lectures 2-5 hours, reading, quizzes, big essay exams with no multiple choice. cheap textbook, exam questions are randomly chosen from cheat sheet given prior to the exam. flexible on due dates, can work with you. would not take again.
This is a TERRIBLE class. She posts ridiculously long lectures (from 3 years ago), and illegible "notes," which make no sense. She has even managed to make Greek mythology depressing! She gives us 3 crazy long assignments per week. Don't even get me started on the timed tests. She is a strict grader, and grades stuff at the last minute (?).
While taking this professor it has come to my understanding that she's not the best at giving out lectures. She sounds boring and it made me want to fall asleep. For the fall term, she has 3 exams all of your answers are typed out. The answers must also derive from her lectures. Near the end of the semester, there is an essay to do. My rating5.5/10
She grades almost at the end of the term so it is impossible to know your grade.
This course is very lecture heavy, with seemingly unnecessary information. There are tons of writing assignments. The tests are hard and she is a hard grader. Plan to dedicate A LOT of time to this class. Not always the most interesting content. I like history but I wouldn't take this class again.
Professor Eberhardt hardly grades and even if you do email her she still doesn't have time to grade. She has 3 big exams. ALL answers must come from her lectures and then 1 essay. She provides feedback for the first exam and then goes quiet. SHE IS VERY LECTURE HEAVY. It's still doable even without watching her lectures. (which I did).
I found Professor Eberhardt's lectures to be too long. Sometimes we would have around 4 hours of lectures to watch in a week. That was on top of reading from the textbook and all primary sources. I was disappointed that we did not cover a lot of events that I thought should have been covered for a World History Course. Overall, she is fair.
This class was difficult!
She rarely grades and the exams are confusing.
This professor does not grade until AFTER the course is over. The exams are very confusing, and the study guides do not help. The lectures are unnecessarily long, and her handwriting is HORRIBLE.
Teacher does not respond to students, work is sometimes confusing. She expects you to base your notes off of illegible writing and lectures that are over an hour each week. You are given 1 hour 35 minutes to complete the exams. Each exam is 7 open ended questions that MUST be based off of long lectures. Doesn't grade work until after course is over
Doesn't grade throughout the semester and hasn't graded after being just a few days away from the end of the semester. Takes a long time to respond to emails.
This professor does not grade throughout the semester and makes her lectures unnecessarily long. Communication is also very poor.
Takes VERY long to grade assignments. Getting into contact w/ her is also fairly difficult as she doesn't respond.
This teacher NEVER grades and she does not ever respond to emails EVER wouldn't recommend this professor at all.
PLEASE GRADE MY WORK!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE HASN'T GRADED ANY OF MY PAPERS AND THE CLASS IS OVER. SHE GRADED MY FINAL PAPER OUTLINE THREE DAYS AFTER I SUBMITTED THE PAPER!!!!
As a student for Mrs. Eberhardt, I noticed she tends to grade assignments at the last minutes during the grading deadline. Also, she gives a bunch of reading from the online textbook which were useless!!! For most of her assignments it was from the source readings she provides not from the textbook. Her leutures can take up to 1-4 hours.
As a previous student of this professor, her class was challenging and her grading was off schedule. With the amount of papers and discussions given to the class, I was unable to get feed back from the professor because of the lack of grading. This lead to me not understanding why I would get a bad grade most times.
DO NOT!! Turn in your work late. The professor takes very long to grade late work; if you fall behind, you will stay behind until she grades it. Every classmate that I had agreed that they had a bad grade until the semester ended. Tests are easy if you study but many discussions are assigned.
She doesn't grade efficiently or fairly, even if you use words that help you to make sense of your paper she will take off grades because she wants it her way. There is too much discussion and less time to finish assignments, her assignments are very long and confusing, and she doesn't explain things properly. I do not highly recommend her!!
She doesn't grade regularly. She waits until the last minute to grade all assignments so you don't necessarily know your grade until the last minute.
Professor grades extremely late and doesn't respond to emails fast enough. If you aren't doing something right, it's very hard to tell until the end of the semester. Very lecture heavy and sometimes could add up to an extra few hours on top of the regular amount of assignments. Extra credits are really needed for a good grade.
Second time having class with this professor. She still doesn't grade on time. Graded everything after the course ended. This semester she made us take full notes on every lecture assigned. Atleast an hour long lecture each week, sometimes she assigned 2-3 1 hour long lectures to be done by the end of the week. Do not take this professor. plsavoid.
This class was extremely difficult. The assignments and such were not difficult in itself, but they were extremely long. There was also lecture notes involved which included watching hours of lectures, sometimes being up to 5 hours long. Good thing is that she does not have a late policy but it is still really easy to be behind.
This teacher rarely grades and be prepared to take her class since there is a lot of reading and lectures at times are often 1-2 hours long.
Took this class 307/8; doesn't respond but I passed If you're ok with no communication, late LATE GRADING, and so many assigments, take her class.
I have taken both HIST 307/308 from this professor, and from both experiences, she is a VERY late grader. For both courses, I did not receive my final grade until after the semester had already ended, specifically around a week or two later. The lectures are very lengthy and tedious, sometimes requiring over 4 hours of watching and note taking.
You could never understand or hear this professor clear when she did lecture videos. She also donesn't organize her modules.
She posts discussion boards, assignments, and lectures with lecture notes every week. Sometimes there are three lectures a week totaling 5 hours. She grades very late. She grades within the one-week grace period they give professors to turn in grades after the semester ends.
This teacher is a VERY late grader. She gives no guidance and does not answer any emails or comments. I would never take another class with her.
Two weeks left and I still have no idea what my grade is. Thats a red flag. It's been so stressful not knowing. Expect constant work 5 to 6 hours of lectures weekly, full chapters to read and endless writing assignments. This isn't a history class, it's a writing marathon. No feedback, no clarity. If you value your time or sanity, avoid this class.
Way too much material and assignments for a summer course. Confusing criteria for when posts are due and what is required. She did not start grading assignments until the last week of class so you're stuck not knowing your grade. Strict grading criteria on top of that. Do not take. You have to review like 10 sources for 1 discussion post.
Had to drop after first exam. If you have other classes, I don't recommend taking this class as it covers so much in such little time. The exam consists of writing essays for 10 random class topics, which you have to source your answers (2 hour limit).
She grades SO late its bad and it really affects my school grade, and my sports.
This course requires at least two notebooks for lectures and over 5 hours weekly for notes, discussions, and weekly writing assignments. Complete all assignments the same week they're given to avoid falling behind, as grading is slow and the instructor is unresponsive. I struggled to pass. The exams are also hard and time-limited for the content.
She is a VERY slow grader. She didn't begin to grade assignments form the first week till week 6. She grades certain things out of chronological order and its very unpredictable. She is very rude and uncooperative. I fell behind on note due to their 20+ pages and Lectured being 2hrs+. She still has not graded them.
This professor tested my limits on what can and will be accomplished in a week. She would assign discussion posts every week, and assignments just to grade them 3+ weeks later. She is not a good grader and is very rude. She does not care about 504 plans either.
I took HIST 307 online through dual enrollment last year, and to this day it still haunts me!! the exams were impossible to study for with a list of many terms to memorize but only a few random ones on the exam. she never graded anything. lectures were useful at least but hours long. please save yourself and your sanity and do NOT take her class.
Better start wishing you never took this professor. She's such a harsh and late grader.
