EPI - great teacher: super helpful, is happy when students do well, has thorough study guides and is fun to talk to you. she's younger and her enthusiasm shows. as for the material though, can be very boring and dry. learn about research study designs and other uninteresting stuff. as semester goes on though, it becomes more tolerable.

Shes a fun teacher, a lil hard, you just need to keep up with the reading and pay attention to her lecture, which she goes by really quickly. She also gives quizzes and HW, which is pretty easy.

I was hesitant about the class at first because you start talking about personal information on the first day, but Claire makes you very comfortable and the interaction with students is great. Kind of a hard grader so you will have to work to get an A, but it's definitely possible. She's great I definitely reccomend her. You will learn a lot. =)

Loved her! The class was required for my major and though it was an easy 100 level class I enjoyed it very much. It was informative on the issues of women's health and Prof. Ortega was sweet. I wish I could have taken another class of hers, but never had the opportunity.

Going to class is part of your grade. No need to take notes since she posts the slides up after class. There are three essays, 1 test and 1 final. Great teacher really cares that you understand the material.

Fantastic teacher. As a heterosexual & conservative male, I was a little scared about enrolling in a course titled, "Women and their Bodies", but Claire made the course worth it. Attendance is mandatory. Don't let the nature of WGGS fool you; you need to do the readings. If you don't do the readings prepare to do poorly on the tests. Gret class.

Great class, lecture notes were a little repetitive, but really good. She really does love teaching and it shows.

I love Claire, she makes the subject easy to understand. She doesn't grade that hard, as long as you fulfill all the requirements that the rubric lays out for papers and projects, then you'll be fine. Don't get the book, she even tells you that her ppt goes into more details than the book does and her exams are based off lectures and ppts.

One of THE best HSC professors at LB state. Intelligent, funny, down to earth, organized, helpful. 3 exams, 4 quizzes, 1 journal critique, 1 media summary, 1 group presentation. Study from her PPs and the book; questions come from there. Exams require some critical thinking. For assignments, give her exactly what she wants - no more, no less.

I took this class during the summer and I can say that Claire is an awesome professor. She is passionate about what she teaches and she makes lecture engaging by having students participate. Exams are not difficult and as long as you follow her rubric for each assignment then you will get an A.

Claire is a great teacher - she makes the material interesting. The class consisted of mainly group work - you have to design your own health program and then present it to the class at the end of the semester. Make sure to ask questions during class because her expectations for a few assignments were sort of unclear.

I took Claire this semester and I really enjoyed her class. She is down to earth and very knowledgeable. I would recommend her class and would definitely take her again. There are 3 exams (which she provides useful study guides). Attendance is not mandatory but it does affect your grade (30 points). Take her if you can!

She is VERY knowledgeable, and likes to interact with her students. You need the textbooks, because a lot of her test questions come from there. Most assignments are simple and fairly easy. Much of the participation was done online because it was a hybrid. Attendance is part of the grade.

This online class had deadlines with weekly discussions, group projects, two papers, and 4 exams. The assignments and deadlines were manageable, just be on top of deadlines and your group members. She was available to answer all of our questions online. Exams are straight out of the textbooks so beware!

Memorable lecturer! She grades pretty fairly. With some effort, you can easily earn an A in the class. Quiz + Exam mainly covers: General idea of lectures and emphasized content such as reproductive terminology. Also be aware of the significance of mentioned feminists and scientific details that support sex gender, disorders, and diseases.

This class required 2 group presentations, 2 group papers, and 2 exams. You can get an A in this class just as long as you put in the effort in the assignments and go to class.

She is a very hard grader but she is exceptional at teaching so it makes up for it. She makes the class participate and gives many examples so it helps you further understand the material. Attendance is taken often, textbook not needed. Lots of assignments and tests are tough. Tests are based on the lecture and requires critical thinking.

5 pt extra credit during the first week. Lectures are YouTube videos. 10 worksheets assigned on Mon and due Wed (10 pt each). 5 discussion boards based on TED Talks due Friday to Sun (10 pt each). 1 research paper using APA (100 pt). 1 behavior change essay (80 pt). Midterm and Final that are MC and essay (75 pt). Easy if you do the work and study.

This is the second time I've taken her and she's the best teacher I've had at CSULB. She does make you work for an A but it's rewarding when you do get it. She's exceptional and very effective at teaching and so, she is also a tough grader. She takes attendance and lectures are information heavy. Textbook is not needed but will help a lot.

I took Claire for 421, 400, and 425 and I can honestly say she is my absolute most favorite professor. She has a clear grading scale and the assignments are simple as long as you understand it. The Multidisciplinary paper is easy research but you must be aware of APA format because she'll give zeros if wrong. She is so funny and caring. Love her!

Took her online over the summer and I appreciate how she uploads EVERYTHING that you need to do on the very first day. A lot of tedious assignments (discussions, homework & papers) and a total of 3 exams. Read the textbook to answer her study guide Q's and follow her uploaded paper samples for your papers. She also uses Respondus Lockdown on exams!

The fact that she got COVID towards the end of the semester and still put in all her efforts to make sure we learned everything shows how dedicated she is. She made class enjoyable, TAKE HER!
