She rushes in her class, gives a lot of homework, and does not like to answer a lot of questions
She has an attitude problem! You never know what your grade is in the class until the end of the semester. She forgets what she assigns half of the time and the other half she thinks she assigns things she didn't.Tutoring in the lab is a must!
She was the worst teacher i ever had. She always rushed her classes and would get mad if you asked her a question. She was never in her office and gave to much homework, class work and lab work.
Very enthusiastic about Spanish and knew her subject well. Expected people to keep up and be prepared, but gave extra help with writing clinics, etc. Also gave ops for extra credit. Hard course, but I feel I got my money's worth!
She's a great professor, but you have to be willing to work and try in the class. Notes are a must without them you are lost as with all classes! She answers questions ande is there to help. The lab staff is also great!
Some people just did NOT study for this class but if you do, you will do great. Very nice to me when I went to her office and really helped me one-on-one without making me feel bad that I don't even know English grammar. Good at explaining verbs.
She had an attitude problem, but if you can put up with that, she's pretty good. She's pretty helpful if you ask for help. She can be moody.
Claire was a great professor. She just seem to hvae a bad attitude at times. She really do offer extra-help if you need it. Study!I don't think she's a very happy person inside, but she knows her stuff.
needs to leave the country and speak her native language
Her class is like watching Shrek Tres.
What a sorry attitude. No time for questions, explanations, ect... Very unhappy person and destined to make sure everyone else is too!!!
I thought she was pretty cool. Very funny, and explained things more than in the book. If you just study what she told you for the tests, you get an A every time.
Very helpful and presents the material in a way you can understand it.

Very rude and mean. Made you feel stupid if you did not automatically know spanish. Not easy to approach for for questions or concerns at all!!!! I would never, ever take a class she was any kind of way envolved with.....ever!!!
When I signed up for this course it was because I really want to learn Spanish, but this professor has been nothing but cranky & quite rude. She talks about which Mexican restuarants are better more than she does the helpful information I PAID to learn. I get more help from the foriegn language lab students than I do from her. And her STUPID rule about seating is ridiculous....what am I, in elementary school again. If it weren't passed the withdrawal with refund date, I would not still be in her course.
I don't know why fccj keeps this lady on staff. She has her favorite students, and everyone else are dummies. She gives hundreds of assignments each semester, and doesn't even keep up with them. God forbid you miss one of her classes. She takes it as a personal affront, and you get zeros for that class and for the assignments.
Reetz is a good profesora, but I do agree with the comments about her bad attitude. She can be funny sometimes, but she is also impatient with questions.Aside from that,I would take her because she knows her stuff. You can't expect teachers to be happy.Don't take this class unless you REALLY want to learn. It requires alot of lab time and presentations.
Get ready to work, very moody/ not an easy coarse. but like all coarses do your work and study and you will pass. However she doesn't make it easy. She has favorites. kinda rude towards students who are not here favorite...GOOD LUCK
I felt that Ms. Reetz's teaching ability was quite poor....she had a terrible attitude towards the students and was very verbal with her hostility. I came into the course looking forward to learning the spanish language, and I am leaving this course with the thought that it would be more benifical to perhap retake this class with an instructor who
Shes a very funny teacher and makes spanish interesting. She can be impatient at times. Just swallow your pride and keep going. Work hard and study and you'll get through it. She tells you exactly what to study for the tests.(no surprises!)
I hated her class. I am very good at spanish, but I ended up dropping her class because she is not a good teacher. She can be funny sometimes, but she is rude and tells stories more than teaches. If you take her, don't miss any classes because she does not let you make anything up and she takes it personally. Her class did not benefit me at all.
This person cares very little about student success.
She doesn't care about how well students do in her class. She teaches more about countries than their language. She can be angry and rude enough to make you want to walk right out of class.
Took latin humanities online. Ok class, quizes are cool cause you can retake them over and over. BEWARE!! midterm and fianl exams are rough!Just make sure you post on discussion board and do your assignment everyweek and you'll do fine. I ended up with a B.
Tough class, but it's the subject, not the teacher. Reetz is hands down one of the best teachers out there. Just be prepared to work VERY hard. You can't just cram and make an A. She's very moody, almost bipolar, but just ignore her like I did when she's pissed, do your work and make an A! She also adds culture material that makes it interesting.
Great professor to take for the on line course. If clarification was necessary she responded quickly to emails. Class requires a lot of writing exercises but nothing that is extremely difficult. Do the work and an A should be easy to attain. Interesting class and highly recommend the professor!

I was looking forward to Latin American studies online. It was a disappointing waste of time. The subjects were too diverse and half of it was about the US. I had a medical issue and she wouldn't let me make up work. Why bother if she doesn't care and rentention for this class is less than 5%? Pointless, a potentially good class gone useless.
I think people are being a litttle harsh, You pay money to be taught and that is what she does, teach you. I think she just is a good teacher, and people like to blame somone else for their own lack of success. I think she is a good choice as a teacher.
She's rude, obnoxious, and totally unhelpful. Puts students down for being "just community college" students-- very sad. "Lack of success" for my comments does not apply here as I earned an A. Relies heavily on the book and lab, and little on lecture. That would be fine with me for any other topic, but learning a foreign language it doesn't fly
THis class was awlful...teacher is hostile and abusive behavior. needs to have a mental heath evaluatuion. I am a straight "A" student....would not recommend this class ever.
The only problem was the Lab portion. I couldn't stand that!!
Very good teacher. You came prepared to class because you knew she expected it of you. She challanged us. Those that were up for the challage made it. Those that just wanted to be babied didnt make. She is a good teacher. I learned Spanish!
Challenging it was! She was sick all the time and expected for it to be ok, but when you were out she didn't let you make up any assignments! She can be compermizing in some conditions but don't expect for her to ignore every little thing! If you are going to be more than 10 mins. late you might as well not come to class. Overall, spanish was fun!
I understood spanish better in high school. I did not like how she favored some people over others, which reflected onto grades. She can be very hard to please with work and is very demnding. Also, she forgets what she assigns sometimes, so you may receive a zero for an exercise you weren't told to do. Not the most organized at FCCJ.

I was excited when I had her as a teacher at first. I heard good things. Butonce she became my teacher, I was very disappointed. I cited something I wrote from a personal blog I WROTE, but she threatened to cite me for cheating.
Easy class if you already know Spanish. Only take her if you have to. There are way better teachers at other campuses. Take another teacher if you can!
I am in my 4th class with her & I think i've learned a lot. I must agree with the favoritism & her getting annoyed with certain people, but I have actually learned some of the material & I don't study nearly as much as I should & I'm doing pretty good. I think she's worth taking. She goes slow enough to get it & answers questions.
The best Professors I've had. All the rude comments are uncalled for. If one does not study the material, then that is on them. The Professor is crystal clear on what to expect in her syllabus. This is college, folks. Act like your a college student and study. If Professors are not challenging their students, then they are not doing their job.
Misses almost every third class due to illness and is late more times than she is on time. She talks to the students in a condescending manner and seems to talk down to students rather than with them; I found the class to be a terribly unpleasant learning experience and would not recommend her.
I recommend this professor to everyone. I read her reviews before I took the class and they weren't that great but it was the only one that fit my schedule and I ended up really liking her. As long as you do all the homework she assigns and get decent test grades you will be fine. If you don't do too well on the test you can get up to 70 extra c
The teacher is very good at teaching Spanish. She is very easy to understand. I recommend everyone to take her. Do her work and study what she says and you will make an A. I made an A in both SPN 1& 2.
If you really want to learn spanish, take Prof. Reetz. You may need to have a sense of humor, but her class is memorable and definitely not boring. She is willing to help, and knows what she's talking about. Tells you exactly what material will be covered on tests and no pop quizzes. Good teacher. I would recommend her to everyone.
Professor down-grades you. Would not take her SPN classes if I were you.
Her classes are not easy, and are pretty difficult. I would serious suggest finding another teacher if at all possible.
Gets MAD if you don't pick up spanish immediatly! Hates to answer questions. Can't remember what she assigned. Presentations are graded on well you can act.(Isn't it spanish not theatre class)DO NOT MISS A CLASS! Trust me you'll regret it. Has favorites, if your not a favorite, your an idiot. Tests=HARD! You've been warned!
THIS TEACHER TALKS TO YOU LIKE YOUR DUMB GETS MAD IF YOU ASK A QUESTION SO ANSWERS BACK IN AN ATTITUDE, THINKS STUDENTS ARE BORN SPEAKING SPANISH, DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
Do not have a full course load if you are going to take her. It's not hard, but there is a lot of work and time. Learned alot. took her for SPN 1120 too.
I really love Spanish and I was excited to take Spanish 2, UNTIL I entered this class. We didn't learn Spanish! We only learned about this professor's political views and how we should all hate the United States. She makes her students feel stupid if they don't answer correctly, and she marks your tests wrong if your opinion differs from hers.
She is condescending and funny at the same time. The people who are complaining are the ones who didn't take the class seriously. She has a wealth of knowledge of Spanish Language and Culture. She lived in S. America for a few years a travels Latin America frequently. Great teacher, I learned a lot
I cannot believe you people. She is one of the best teachers I've ever had. For those of you that think that she speaks to you like you are stupid, I can only assume that you ARE STUPID! It is a serious class and she is a great professor! If considering this class, be prepared to learn and work hard. Don't whine like these people!
Knows about her subject. She can be a little condescending at times, but as long as you have a sense of humor it's not bad at all. If you do the can8 assignments, the hw, take notes in class, and read the book (aka- what you're supposed to do)nyou will be okay.
This professor is constantly late and sometimes doesn't show up at all without any notification. Don't ask questions unless you want to be chastised and recieve a sarcastic answer. She can't remember what work she assigns and spends more time lecturing on her personal opinion than anything related to Spanish. If it weren't too late to drop I would.
She's okay. Really good at explaining things, but not that great with the personality. Doesn't show up for class often, so make sure you check blackboard often so you dont show up to find out class is cancled, (but even then she doesn;t alwasy bost it on that) Test aren't hard just vocabulary mostly and lots of extra credit avaliable.
Prof. Reetz is a lot of things. Easy is not one of them. Her liberal agenda definitely gets in the way of her teaching abilities. She criticizes questions, is forgetful, tardy, etc. However, she knows her Spanish language - she is exceptionally fluent.
This class was super easy. Just do her work, attend class, study, and go to the lab and you will deff. have an A. She likes to joke around a lot, but gets mad if she knows you didn't do your work. Makes sure all students understand, and offers A LOT of extra credit. I would reccomend her, she knows her spanish well. I got over a 100 in her class
Almost always late, misses a lot of days. Expect to teacher yourself a lot of the stuff. She gave a presentation to be memorized even though we didn't know what we were saying and rated us on acting rather than how well we memorized and pronounced things. I thought it was learning Spanish not acting class.
If you are not doing good or she doesn't like you, she will attempt to force you out of the class using various (and questionably ethical) methods. Don't bother.
awesome lady wonderful teacher people just are mad because she is hard and she will challenge you to use your brain. most people are just to lazy and truthfully i think most the students just dislike her because she is a big lady but i think she is awesome but YES she is hard but you will definitely learn something
This class was wow! I was not able to make up tests. Mandatory 1hr in lab a week. Class is very fast paced.
Truly interested in making sure students learn the material. If you have an interest in learning Spanish she is a good teacher. If you are taking this class just to meet your language requirement, find a different professor.
Her knowledge of Spanish history and culture made the course much more interesting to me. If you don't want to work please do not take her course. If you want to work and is disciplined, you will find her very good. Also spend one on one time with her and it will benefit you even more.
was scared of the class when i started. didn't think i would pass. got a B and was very suprised. pay attention and do what she tells you. she does grade a little on the curve, but expects you to do your part. don't expect to come in for a free ride. she's not like that. she not real hard, but she not super easy either. enjoyed the class
Very moody, god save us all if she has to move from her chair to start a movie or distribute a paper. Very knowledgable but not personable in the least. Wish I never enrolled. No make up's allowed but she'll miss class when she feels like it. HYPOCRITE!
This professor is not exciting at all. She wants you to learn spanish her way. The only great thing about her is that she speaks english mostly and she isn't even from a spanish speaking country. RUN RUN as fast as you can don't let her catch you cause she is the gingerbread man.
When you start out in SPN 1, make sure you memorize your vocabulary so you can prepare for SPN 2, it can bite you in the butt. She can be helpful at times but her tests are pretty hard. There is a lot of homework. EC is pretty generous. When you go to your weekly lab sessions, make sure you STUDY STUDY and not slack off, it'll help.
Do not take this professor unless you had spanish in high school because she thinks you know it. She knows her stuff, but her attitude has to go. It make the class uncomfortable when she argues about a comment or questions someone asks curiously instead of just answering it. Never EVER be late to class or miss a class points are taken away!
Professor Reetz is... Difficult. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! ESCAPE IF YOU CAN! If you do stick with her, o't talk back, don't say anything obvious, don't argue, and STUDY! You CAN do well in her class, just don't expect any help from her.
Professor Reetz does not speak that much Spanish during class, and she knows much about the language and culture, but she can be so rude and disrespectful. She has favorites, so if you are Spanish or cute, she will probably like you. Just don't act like you know what you're talking about, be on time, and always do hw, unless you want a clash.
I thoroughly enjoyed the class. It was somewhat of a High School approach to learning, kind of traditional.I learned a lot.
Attendance is mandatory by you not her! She was rude and disrespectful and pretty much expected you to already know spanish. The EC was generous but not enough if she didn't like you.She definitely took the fun out of taking a Spanish course.
She cancels class about every other week, but if you miss class, she won't forget it! this class requires a lot of studying and the tests are hard. she's VERY sarcastic and treats her students with little respect. Unless you've taken spanish before, DON'T TAKE HER.
Professor reetz is not the most student friendly teacher. I found the all of the tests rather easy except for the last test. If you memorize Vocab and do your Spanish Lab time this class is very easy to understand and pass, but you MUST study. The professor herself can be testy but as long as you are polite you can usually get along decently GL
this is not an easy class. You must work. Prof Reetz is very clear on what she expects from you. You have to go to Spanish lab weekly....(they are extremely helpful) and you have to do the work. You will learn in this class. Prof Reetz does not coddle her students, but you are in college, you don't need to be coddled!!!!!
Profe Reetz is an awesome instructor with a GREAT sense of humor. She is very straight forward in her teaching and to the point. Most of the questions you have, she will answer during class without you even having to ask. She assigns a decent amount of work, as well as extra credit. She even email's you the notes from class. WINNING!
Professor Reetz is not very friendly, and she uses a lot of sarcasm when any student asks a question. She hates when students miss class, but she feels that it's okay for her to cancel class about every other week. She doesn't speak much spanish in class, but she expects her students to know more than she has taught them. Don't take her!
this is one of the best instructors ever.some of these comments are just rude. This class is not for lazy students. if you choose her be ready to work for your grade. For her personality she does use sarcasm but its so funny because her comments are so on point. She gave it and i gave it back. at the end of both semesters i came out with prepared
I had taken four Spanish courses in high school and found the class easy. She is nice and has a good understanding of the material. She is very opinionated and doesn't hide it, but she doesn't hold that against students. Very nice person and all in all a good professor.
My way or the highway professor. Under her instruction, I felt like I was in Middle School again.
Profe Reetz is a handful. She makes funny jokes in class and can be a cool person, but most of the time she's witty, sarcastic and uncaring. If class hasn't started yet and you're talking to a friend, she'll stop your conversation just so you can listen to hers...which never is about Spanish. The workload isn't that bad, just pay attention.
I was excited for this class until about 2 weeks into the semester. Ms. Reetz is knowledgeable about Spanish, but not as a teacher of the language. She is often absent from class, and on several occasions has spent 1hr talking of the Bolivian elections and then crammed the lesson into the last 15 minutes of class. Please, look elsewhere to learn!
Professor Reetz is a decent professor. She keeps the class together the entirety of when it is scheduled to meet, but most of the time you end up talking about off-topic stuff. The class requires you to spend a lot of time teaching yourself.
This professor finds herself hilarious but it is nowhere near funny. She is so bad students were withdrawing close to the end of the semester, losing hundreds of dollars, just to not have to be around how rude she is. She has such a complete disrespect for the students in the class and treats people like they are in middle school. DO NOT TAKE HER
Bad Attitude, cancels class 10 minutes before class starts, ignores students when they ask questions, i wouldn't recommend her if you have other options.
This is the second time I've taken Professor Reetz, and she is just as bad. One of the worst things about her is that she is really disrespectful to students. One of the things that make her a bad professor though, is that she will go on a rant about some off-topic subject and barely teach any of the lesson, then give a hard test on the material.
She is a person that talks down the her students and does not respect them at all. In her class there are such things as wrong questions because she'll laugh at you if she feels it's a stupid question. She does give a lot of extra credit opportunities but doesn't teach much material. If you've never taken Spanish before it may be a difficult class.
Do not take this teacher unless you are good at learning by yourself. This teacher is not helpful, and basically wastes class time talking about nearly everything but the Spanish language. If you study well enough by yourself you may pass her class. If you are the type of person who actually needs a teacher, do not take this class.
Professor Reetz is very rude to her students. She has no respect for them but expects respect. You could not pay me to take her class again. If i were you, i would stay far away.
I can confidently say without a doubt, this was the worst professor I have ever taken . This woman is ridiculously rude, she is very condescending, sarcastic, and out right nasty. She talks down to people who ask questions that she deems foolish, she doesn't explain the material clearly and most of all she barely teaches the material.
I am still in this class and will get through with an A or B. It isn't that hard if you are disciplined, but understand that others here who have rate Prof Reetz are correct. She is rude, disorganized, and generally lacking in the skills needed to be a college prof. Do yourself a favor and take someone else.
She is the rudest professor I have ever met. She completely degrades her students verses encouraging them. She not helpful when you reach out to her. Her extra credit opportunities were about the only things I liked about this class. She treats her students like middle school kids; separating them, powering phones off and placing on desks.
She is a tough grader and takes off points for almost anything. She treats her kids like middle schoolers separating them, kicking them out of class, and making every student power off their phone and place them on their desk. She is extremely rude and gives an absurd amount of work. She usually gives you 100-150 word vocab words to study.
She is the rudest professor I've had; she degrades and very disrespectful towards students and threatens students grades. For example, she threatened to fail the entire class and said she had no confidence in the class's ability on the exams. She's absolutely awful. She should not be a teacher. The tutors were more of a help than her!
Ensure to sit in the correct area of the library, otherwise she'll fail you.
She thinks she is funny but in reality she is NOT. ALWAYS off topic. Very rude & sarcastic. I wouldn't take this class again or recommend. This class will bring you back to being in middle school because she is extremely strict on behavior. No talking in class unless she calls on u & cell phones must be turned off & on top of desk out of reach.
She spends more time talking about the government of different Spanish countries. You would be better off buying the book and teaching yourself Spanish. She also hates when students ask her questions and she never fully answers them. she often talks about her life but when you feel comfortable enough to share she doesn't want to hear you. Rude!!!
you can't learn spanish treats you like a child when you are clearly grown. isn't the type of teacher that engages in the class she sits at a desk the whole time.
When she teaches she is very good but she only teaches about a third of the time. She wants respect but goes about the wrong way to get it. If she would teach a section and then have the students go an do the ilearn then the students would be better.
You get treated like youre in middle school, her feelings get so hurt when you dont come to class and she will fail you. She was often rude, and always talking about random stuff. I did not learn much from her honestly and I took her for Spanish 1 and 2.
The worst teacher I have EVER had. Stay away!!!! Withdrew from her class and took someone else. Take Professor Font or Coleman if you want a valid and awesome teacher. Taking a foreign language is hard, so make sure you get someone who understands the struggle. It is not this teacher! She is an awful human! DO NOT TAKE HER! YOU ARE WARNED!
Stay away from her class!! She knit picks at everything you do; I'm a straight A student and I failed her class!! She's very disrespectful and doesn't care much about her students
She's very sarcastic and aggravating, you'll want to rip your hair out before the end of each class. Most of the work is online, including test, but there are some tests on paper. She's not a very good teacher, but her work is easy. She's one of those "we still have 3 minutes left of class" type of professors. I won't be taking her for Spanish 2.
If you're not sensitive you'll be ok. Here's the positives: Gives a lot of easy classwork for points towards final grade. Offers fairly easy extra credit assignments up to 40 points. Tells you exactly what will be on the test. Reviews all material that will be on the test a day or so before the test.
Teacher introduces personal beliefs and politics into course instruction. Makes it miserable to sit through her rambling which most of is false. Tells you how she supports communism and communist leaders of the past. Literally held her fist in the Air and supported actions of communist leaders. Does not teach, expects you to teach yourself. RUN!!!!
Prof. Reetz is an excellent instructor. Her Latin American Cinema class is very engaging and the assignments are a lot of fun if you are interested in the material. Each of the movies are extremely well-selected and she does a great job of explaining them. -Brandon Griggs
Prof Reetz was the worst instructor I had in my time at FSCJ. She was, at best, ignorant but came across as transphobic, continuously complaining about the neutering of the Spanish language and continuously misgendering a student in our class.
She was very disrespectful took her for Spanish 1 and it was bad. Then I took her for Spanish 2 but then things got worse. Had testing issues with my laptop and she blamed it on me and allowed no extension. She constantly made herself seem innocent. Also she never taught anything She really deserves a 0.
Took her during the summer. She gives out homework in addition to the vhl assignments, which are 60 plus exercises, and gave two proctored exams. The last one requiring us to write in Spanish. It's one thing to read and understand Spanish, another to write without any help! We barely wrote in Spanish during our exercises. Would NOT recommend!
Took Spanish two during this past summer and did not expect for a professor to be this discourteous and uncivil. Very immature when it comes to social interactions and learning. She frequently scowled us and mocked our wrong answers to the point where I felt embarrassed to answer and participate. I am a very disciplined student and this was HARD!
Unreasonable, rude, unpleasant. She will give zeros instead of partial credit even if you complete an entire assignment if you didnt quite understand the question, with no opportunity to fix. Will not work with students. Would not recommend to anybody and believe her positive reviews must be paid. Disrespectful to veterans and mental health issues
To be honest she was my last choice. The whole semester felt like she was out to fail us more than she was trying to help at all, and if you did do something good, she'll find small reasons to take points away. NEVER GIVES FULL CREDIT!!!!! Also be prepared for your grade to tank hard if you mess up on any big test. It's hard to make a comeback.
This professor was the most difficult professor Ive ever dealt with while being a student at fscj. She was very unreasonable and rude at times during our online classes . I do NOT recommend!
Prof. Reetz is an excellent instructor. Her Latin American Cinema class is very engaging and the assignments are a lot of fun if you are interested in the material. Each of the movies are extremely well-selected and she does a great job of explaining them. The only negative thing i would have to say is there is alot of reading in the textbook.
Prof. Reetz is a solid professor. There was a lot of work, but it's due monthly and if you take some time a few times a week to get a little done it won't pile up. She gives thorough lectures every class that teach everything you need to know, and she responds to questions about the material. Just apply yourself to this class, and you will pass.
Dropped this professor faster than I could say adios. After the first lecture, I knew semester wouldn't go well with this profe. The other reviews are true, she requires you to "disconnect" from phones even before class starts. Which is redundant. This is my time, not yours. I pay to be here. Treats students like high schoolers, no laptops allowed.
I would not recommend this Profe to anyone needing this Spanish. I should have looked into this professor before taking the class She gives alot of homework on top of the vhl assignments she is not sympathetic to unforeseen circumstances that may arise in the students life Ms. Reetz does not care if you pass or fail. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Professor Reetz and her approach to student's interactions are very challenging. There have been instances where her communication style is very harsh, and she lack understanding. She takes literally 6-7 hours to respond to your email, and sometimes she never responds. I hate that i didn't get a chance to come on here before taking her class.
Avoid taking this class with Professor Reetz if possible. She's very strict, gives a lot of busywork on top of the online assignments, and doesn't seem to care much about students' needs. However, unstuckstudy was a huge help for my study prep.
