She's pretty chill one on one if you go talk to her. However, lectures were very fast paced, but for the most part she is just summarizing what's on the powerpoint. Her class overlaps with the textbook a whole lot, so if you were to miss a couple classes, you'd probably be fine. Tests were insanely long - both written and MC. Prepare to draw.

Short quizzes (14-17 Q each) were very fair if you studied. Midterm and final were short answer and MC. Those tests were LONG, hard and stressful. I studied my butt off and memorized the lec notes and textbook to the T and did really really well. Lec notes were very detailed. Rewarded if you put in the work. Be prepared to study. Loved the course!

Tests were based off lecture slides. Attend lectures b/c she elaborates a lot on examples in her notes & it helped in understanding concepts better. Maybe watch for when she skips a lil section of notes before a quiz b/c of time constraints, since one quiz she still included stuff that was skipped in class (by mistake?)

Asynchronous course and a great GPA booster, the quizzes and exams were open book so you will do well. Weekly there are 2-3 lecture videos and they range from 20 minutes to an hour in duration, quite lengthy at times but you need to watch and take notes to do well on the quizzes and final! 50% for quizzes and 50% final. Overall great course & prof

Open book exams & allows us to collab on the quizzes/final. She also gave extensions on the discussion posts, which were marked fairly by the TA. She was forced to make exams more difficult so be prepared for some select all that apply/matching questions and larger test bank (everyone gets a different quiz Q's with some overlapping Q's only)

Ok so like the grade cutoffs were insane this semester A+ 99 A 95-99. She formats her class really well - 3 discussion posts (10% ea) and 3 quizzes (open book collaborative 10%ea) but honestly I don't think I really learned anything. There is plenty of time for quizzes and the questions are easy to search in notes. Easy A but you don't learn much.

Beware that this class has been made much more difficult compared to before. Insane boundaries (93 for A and 97 for A+), exams are closed book and questions are often poorly worded and contain up to 10 select all that apply options to deter cheating. Some weeks have nearly 3 hours of material on top of a mandatory participation session.

She's very good at explaining things and is very straight to the point. She doesn't really trail off at. all and if you show up to lectures you can retain the info. Lots of studying outside of class. Her quizzes are only 5 questions so sometimes its hard to get a good mark on them if you don't know everything super well. She emails back fast.

Genuinely went to class like 5 times all sem and still passing well. quizzes are easy as long as you read the slides or textbook (save ur money and dont buy the textbook, content is same in both). she's nice but she can ramble sometimes which makes it difficult to pay attention in class. be ready for so many South Park references in her slides

Has many personal anecdotes which I found super engaging and helped make the course a lot more interesting, which personally suited my learning style. She's also really funny which helps a lot! Lectures are recorded, she responds super fast, and quizzes are pretty easy but you do need to know content pretty well to do well of course.

I might be in the minority but I found her slides to be disorienting as only the key words were included, you do have to listen to her lectures in order to make sense of the slides

the lectures felt really monotone, and while I still attended all classes, I felt like the same mark could have been achieved soley through textbook reading.

Research points, an assignment, 7 quizzes all worth 5%. Not open book. The quizzes were very weird and barely made sense half the time. The final is worth 45% and is 90 questions. I studied for 2 weeks and attended almost every class, half the questions were so confusing and reflected nothing from the slides/textbook. Also she is very monotone

I mean, we all have different learning styles, just because a teaching style doesn't account for mine doesn't mean she's bad, it just means, I learnt nothing

Very easy final, just read the textbook before reading through her slides so you'll have a foundation of knowledge about the material

She does NOT still do open book quizzes or finals, there was no midterm just a 90 question final which wasn't too bad if you study enough. Posts all her lectures online with transcripts, so attendance not mandatory. She replies to emails and is a good prof recommend this course with this prof.

Scavuzzo is an okay prof. She didn't really reply to emails well, and her grades are curved super high, a 92 is an A-, but its a good class overall. I definitely think I didn't enjoy this course partly cause it was online. I am sure in person she is a lot better. Overall she does care about her students, if u take her, take in person.

The class is interesting, but the grades are curved really high. There are lecture videos that need to be watched weekly which is fine, but some weeks the length of the videos was also a lot. Overall, a pretty content-heavy course.

Great Prof and the class is also not tough. Beware of her quizzes that are closed book and are out of 5 multiple choice (each quiz is worth 5%). She did not have a midterm but had a take home assignment which you have almost a month to work on. Final exam was a bit trickier but not super hard. Try not to leave everything till the last minute. 👍
