great prof. very funny, teaches class well especially for a lecture hall

I highly recommend him for Accounting 101 as well as other accounting class. I enjoy his class and his input regarding accounting major as a advisor.

This teacher is wayyyy cool. Easy to understand and very fair. A homework is due every week and you have to stay on track and keep up. If you don't, this class will be hard. If you're lazy, stay away from this class. Work hard and you'll do fine.

Great class, great teacher definitly recomend it. Did bad on the first test but I didn't study or take the practice tests online. If you don't make that mistake the class is a breeze and the guy cracks jokes left and right throughout class. He makes learning the subject fun and interesting.

Carter is the bomb. Great teacher, always there to help w/a smile on his face. Plays great music in class. Teaches material until you get it and reviews. His website is a must, including the practice tests** hint hint. Do hw and your set. Gotta Love Monty.

I likedt his class. Considering this is the first Accounting class I got to take in college and it's my major it was a good start. The class is easy, if you understand Accounting you really don't have to go to class.

Very clear guy....so good that he makes ya feel that you too can be an accountant..hehe. Unfortunately, the world isn't as straightforward as him, so it's hard to understand other teachers and others in the accounting industry. If you can hold his mentality, great! I couldn't..

haha monty tries to be funny..hes always playin old school rock when u walk into class...he makes lame jokes, but i always laugh. has notes done for u, u just fill'm in. grades based on pts so u can miss a lot of homework and still do well. u rock monty u big goof

I LOVE MONTY! Great prof, easy class

He is such a funny guy. Class is long and pretty BORING, but he is so clear and organized. All the notes are printed for you (just fill em in) and you can keep track of your grade from Day 1 online (point based). I found it difficult (I suck at math), and found his exams to be hard (even after studying sample exams), but its do-able.

Again, another professor I had over 6 years ago. Remember him fondly and to this day find him to have been one of my favorite professors in any school I've been to. He is kind and helpful, very approachable and will take the time to help you individually is you so desire. I highly recommend him. I would not he is easy but he is fair.

He knows his stuff, and is fairly easy grader mostly due to his grading method. It's a point system so even bad scores will help your overall grade. The material is very repeatative and there's no book, it's all online. Do the practice exams and do the online work beforehand so you don't have to worry about it. It's a pre-req. class!

Face it, you don't want to take financial accounting, but you have to. This man is a PLEASURE to have as a teacher. He doesn't take himself too seriously. He's funny, very smart, and gets involved with the students. He is one of the most loved teachers at UML. You can tell he truly loves his job, and his students. He is a wonderful person.

He is such a great guy - very helpful and pleasant. He loves when students go visit for help! He tries to make class more enjoyable by telling jokes, playing music, and just being a NICE human being.

He is great, One of the best teachers I've had so far. Don't even buy the book he gives you the notes. As long as you do hw you will do well on the exams. He is explains good, willing to help, and his very funny! Easy B!!!

Hands the A to you, you just need to pay attention. Don't need to study for tests if you show up and listen. Funny guy too, always cracks jokes and make the class fun. Always interested in his students and likes to talk.

Lots of work, exams are mult-choice (timed/online). You get real world experience using his JP Racing site. Great teacher. You WILL learn something from his class. Bonus: Don't have to buy the book, he posts the text on his website.

Professor Carter is a great teacher. I took accounting online and it was really easy. If you send the homework early he'll send it back with instructions how to fix it and give you full points. Great chance for an A with this teacher.

Really nice teacher who gives plenty of opportunities for his students to get good grades. Makes the textbook available online for all student for the one time fee of a hot wheels car- no joke.

Among the best professors there are, clear coherent not too hard not too easy, cares and will help whenever asked and just a nice person

He is a wonderful professor. He made accounting so interesting that I chose to be an acct major a few years ago cuz of him. Then I took Lisa Andrusaitis great too! But that's it! The others Acct professors at UML SUCK! Joseph George, Hamer and Bouges, are horrible MUST AVOID! Carter on the other hand, is very helpful, clear, and approchable!

Professor was very into sports players to the extent that he left everyone else out. Tells *WAY* too many stories and takes *WAY* too much time explaining things. Class was incredibly boring. Doesn't give tests back which is very annoying, no way to study exactly what you need to based on your tests. Grades on a curve and is approachable.

I thought the hw/practice exams were a lot harder than the tests. Carter is a really nice guy and as long as you go to class and pay attention to new material, you should do fine. I wish he taught managerial accounting :(

He goes over things and he will explain again if you ask(most people dont ask) attendance isnt required.txtbook is free online. homework/project/tests are reasonable. gives you a lot of practice that doesnt need to be passed in, just for yourself.take this guy. lovehim

great class, i thought it would be easy in the beginning, so i didn't do much work and got off to a rough start. the text book is free online, and as long as you do minimal work on your own, you are sure to get an A. he has all the grades and everything mapped out from the beginning. JP racing is a project that also is helpful and easy

Seriously. My favorite teacher ever. The ONLY helpful, useful teacher I have ever met at UML. I wish he taught all of my classes. I'm really disappointed that he doesnt teach managerial accounting at least. take him or you'll regret it

Don't take accounting/financial with any other professor. This class is SO easy. Keep up with the work and submit the homework. I have gone to class about 5 times and i have a 97.

Best prof. to take for financial acct. NO LIE.. He's a cool ass teacher. no need to buy it, he has textbook chapters online for free. If you just go over the stuff on your own you'll understand, but going to class helps me, cuz he goes over notes that will help you with the homework chapters. AND YOU WILL DEF. LEARN ACCT.

Attendance not required. 2 packets are given out, they go along with the chapters, go to class and you'll get all the answers. 3 exams including final, all about 30 questions. HW about every other week on Blackboard and another site. No book, all chaps. online along with practice exams on Blackboard. Easy class, chill prof, try and you'll do great.

most boring part of this class is going over the lecture notes. i didn't went to class after the 1st exam and still pass this course with an A-. that show how easy this course was. just study his practice exam online and do his HW and u'll be fine. his online project is not that hard if u read the chapter.

Don't take financial acct. with anyone else. Attendance isn't required. He treats you like an adult. And it's the cheapest class you'll ever take. The textbook is free online. The only cost is a Hot Wheels car which he donates. Lectures are boring but what lectures aren't? Do the practice tests online and you'll do good on exams.

Fantastic professor. If you take Financial with anyone else you're missing out. He made me want to become an Accountant, and that's the direction I'm headed.

Great teacher!! Attendance isn't mandatory. No book, he gives you all the notes up front and you fill them in as you go along. Very helpful and lots of information and assistance through blackboard. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

99% of material is done and completed on blackboard. All books and materials are provided. HIGHLY recommend seeing a tutor on the regular if you dont understand the assignments it will help you get a decent grade. He a nice man willing to help when asked and funny too (in a corny way)

Monty is the man... if you are a degenerate and don't go to class then don't bother because you WILL do bad, if you are a diligent student, then take him with no regrets (easy A-B if show up and pay attention), no prior knowledge of accounting needed

Awesome teacher, tests are exactly like the material covered in the lectures, just different numbers. Awesome personality, and just an over all great teacher. Down to earth guy, knows how to get the material across to the students.

Great instructor. I took the on-line course. Excellent format and very easy to use. Caution: A lot of school work! Homework, Practice assignments, 4 exams and an customized online project = 10-12 hours per week at least. You will learn accounting which is the objective but you will spend much more time with this class than what you expected.

Monty is a great teacher. He is responsive to questions and wants you to do well. Just be ready to devote at least 10-12 hours per week to the class work. Homework, practice exams, and an online project. Do the work and the reading and you will be fine. I enjoyed every minute of it.

This class is super easy. Keep up with the online work and you would really have to try to get less than an A. People are saying 10 hours a week of online work, it was more like 2-3. Tests were exactly like online work. You still learn a lot, Carter is a great professor and really knows how to teach the material in a way that its easy to understand

Professor Carter is the reason I majored in accounting. Getting to take him twice, once for financial and the second for advanced, has made my academic career priceless. He's good humored and very pleasant. It doesn't hurt that he also gives stickers on homework and awards for top exam scores. He is always helpful and clear. This man is amazing.

This rating is for Advanced Accounting.The material is very complex and the textbook is completely inadequate in explaining some of the concepts. This is where Carter comes in. He is phenomenal. He teaches you how to logically think through the material. Be engaged in the class and pay attention,and you will learn a lot and do well in the course

Overall pretty easy teacher. Tests are very straight forward and weekly home works are the same no matter which teacher you take

Make this class your priority! Ignore the textbook - not helpful. Devote more time to studying and doing problems than any other class before. If you make this class your number one priority from day 1, seriously, then you will understand the content and get a good grade. But just remember, you can fall behind really quickly - study, study, study!

Went to class about 3 times and got an A. The class is basically set up like an online class so you don't even have to go. 1-2 hours of homework a week with multiple choice exams. Nice professor and fair grader.

Very interested in helping students learn. Gives great feedback throughout entire course, and consistently offers help on work you miss. Quickly replies to email. Highly recommend this professor. Has a good sense of humor.

Excellent teacher. The first time I took the class with a different teacher and didn't understand one thing. With Professor Carter everything became clear. Take his class! He made accounting clear to understand and as interesting as accounting can be.

This guy is awesome and his class is so easy, you just really need to do the homework. At the time it seemed a little challenging but once you get into intermediate accounting, let me tell you, financial accounting is kindergarten stuff. Carter is pretty funny and I would absolutely take him again, and this time do the homework. Project is easy

Very clear on instructions, was stressed starting the class because the material was foreign, but once you get used to it, it's relatively simple. There is way too much material to handle per week, just go over lecture answers to do the HW problems and review practice tests for exams and you should be fine. There is no textbook, just PDF lectures.

Professor Carter was a great instructor for what most would consider to be very dry material. He is extremely accessible and gives tailored, detailed, specific feedback to you on each assignmenttest. Highly approachable and will answer any question posed. VERY CLEAR instructions for work. Do the work, get an A. Simple as that.

No text book, gives pdf files. Lots of homework, especially for a 10 week class. Weekly quizzes, weekly ongoing project, and 4 exams, all combined to give you your grade. No extra credit given. Adjusted the grading towards the end of semester, making it a bit easier to get a better grade. Overall an easy going, caring profesor.
