Absolutely Awesome
Wow. She is great. Very captivating with her teaching and examples.
Wonderful! I would take a bullet for Dr. Keyt. And I do not even like history.
Not only is Dr. Keyt captivating in her lectures, she was there for me when I needed someone to talk to.
Not only are Dr. Keyt's lectures interesting, she was also there for me when I need someone to talk to and a shoulder to cry on.
She is very interesting I teaching, very helpful in counseling study skills after class, but most impressive is her willingness to help, talk, and listen with personal problems. She is very caring. She has touched my heart and helped me carry on when I was at a low point in life.
So caring. So interesting. She is not actually all that easy, but her lectures are clear with interesting stories for examples. This makes the class both fun and easy. Great teacher. Learned a lot.
Clara Keyt is great. Very helpful. She regularly makes her lectures pertinent pointing out how and what is useful in the professional world.
I am considering changing my major to history. She makes it so interesting. Dr. Kite has a way of making little things meaningful in life and history.
She is my favorite Professor ever. very helpful and kind. Interesting and smart too.
I love Dr. Keyt's class. I actually look forward to it every week. Informative, interesting, and most of all she makes history useful. My hero!
okay, she is not easy, but she makes it fun.
Wow, great ratings. everyone loves Dr. Keyt. She makes each student feel special. I thought I was her favorite. The rest of the class appears to think the same thing. She is very personable.
Dr. Keyt is a great professor to have for history!! I have never enjoyed history, however in her class I have actually enjoyed lectures and have learned a lot that I slept through in high school courses. Highly recommend if history is not the class for you!
Today was the last class. So sad. I am going to miss Dr. Kyte. She made one of my tougher subjects fun and easy. Thank You! Hope you read this.
I have always loved history. Dr. keyt as only increased that. Her lectures are fascinating stories that really peaked my interest. Looking forward to my first upper level class next semester with her.
Yay, I got an A. I have never got an A in history in my life. I actually deserved it too. She makes class fun and easy to learn. Awesome.
I so wish I could take a class with Dr. Keyt next semester. Of course her class is all full. She was great. Will miss her and her interesting talks.
Come to class. She is nice and a good teacher. If you do not get an A or at least a B, rethink college.
Absolutely loved this class.
Not as easy as others make her out to be. Have to come to class, read, listen and participate. But it is all great. Dr. Keyt is interesting making it all seem easy when you try.
Not as easy as previously rated. She makes it seem easy. Have to read and come prepared. Love her class, lectures and discussions.
Got my midterm grade - A. She is awesome. Attend class, read, do not yell profanities and all is well. Not easy if you do not make an attempt. Do your part and Dr. Kite rocks.
I disagree about Dr. KEYT not being easy. Her tests and grading are very easy. Then again, I do pay attention in class, stay awake, show up, and read. I do agree that she rocks!
Definitely pay attention in class, stay awake, show up, and read. The last rater nailed it. She does not put up with those who do not want to learn, do not complete assignments, or text in class. She loves classroom group work and it becomes obvious who is trying to bs her. Be sure to show up on slow days as she gives free extra credit.
Simple amazing. Don't be a jerk and she is wonderful.
My favorite class so far. She is my favorite prof. Hope to take more of her classes.
She is a very sweet person and I learned plenty from the class. She is also very flexible with assignments and is generally very easy. My greatest critique is that she knows very little about wars. We spent literally 5 minutes on the Korean War yet we would spend say 15 on the grassroots movement against poverty in Milwaukee during the 60s.
She is a little hard to follow because she always seems super out of it, but her tests are easy.
Great lecturer. interesting, sweet, and helpful. I loved her class. Only down side was that half the class thought she would be extremely easy and came to class stoned or not at all. Even though she does not take attendance, they appear to all be failing out.
I am going to miss Dr. Kyte and her class. She is so fun and knows so much.
Wonderful teacher. Don't let the easy ratings fool you. She expects her students to do their part. Seems large portion of the class were not expecting a final exam and only a few bothered to show up for class. I think she was not as easy as our friends from her last semester told us. I loved her class and she is not difficult if pay attention
She expects a lot. She also gives a lot. Her lectures are very good. She makes things relevant for future occupations. She uses a lot of reaction discussions, very easy points and learning opportunity if you just do the reading. I changed groups as my first group was not did not do well in her class.
Dr. Kite was my favorite teacher last semester. She was simply awesome.
She was amazing. Interesting, knowledgeable, and helpful. She puts her lectures in a context of what will be useful for a career. She is also there for the students, both academically and personally.
Simply Amazing.
I loved her. I wish I could major in Dr. Clara Keyt.
Taking a short summer course. It is awesome. Half day lectures buzzing along from one issue to another. Great lectures.
wonderful
She is so cool
Dr. Kite is Great. Loved, absolutely loved her short Summer course. This was the perfect first course for my new University life.
Great class. Small with lots of personal attention. Dr. Keyte is very helpful and knowledgeable.
Attended Dr. Clara Keyt's class at UW. She is wonderful. She is great at making her lectures useful and interesting. Nothing short of awesome.
One of the best teachers at CSU. Put off taking history for my senior year. Hated high school history! She is fun.
I you get the chance to take her class, do it. She is wonderful. Great class. Others may be easier, but Dr. Keyt's class is awesome.
Semester is just starting, but I can not wait to tell everyone that Clara Keyt is awesome.
Literally the worst prof I have ever had. You cannot follow her lectures no powerpoints and her tests are just an essay answering one question.
If you Do your part, she is wonderful, absolutely wonderful. Not easy and even though she does not take roll, her classes are set up where you better attend. Some test questions come from reading, but most appear to be from her lectures. She also gives hints and extra credit on days when attendance is light.
Literally the BEST. Requires participation, paying attention, and phones and laptops put away. Interested in learning, take Dr. Keyte. Want an easy A, to day dream in class, or to skip, take someone else. Gets a bit grouchy with those trying to take advantage of her kindness.
She was there for me when I needed help.
She definitely makes you work for the grade. Expects attendance and participation. Interesting and knowledgeable. Great lectures.
Absolutely shocked by the ratings and comments on here. Clara is a very well intentioned teacher but had some of the most incoherent lectures. No intro into what we would talk about and would Just jumping around with unclear power points without anything really making sense. Seems harsh but I would not recommend taking Clara Keyt's class.
So unclear about everything, and changes her mind the night before the test about what we are being tested on. Horrible.
Loved the class.
Awesomeness in flesh! She was great at respecting opinions and encouraging us to think about tings deeper.
excellent instructor for Southern History
She assigns pop essay assignments (they are open note) so class attendance is important so that you can take good notes and get good scores on those pop essays. She's very passionate about history and you can tell that she loves to teach it, however, some of her lectures tend to jump around quite a bit which makes it a little harder to follow.
She was super helpful and her lectures were interesting and fun.
There is a lot of information in the lectures that are useless, and the information is very scattered. The lecture moves very fast and if you miss information there is no way to make it up. Get good at taking notes super fast and trying to get the information you need. There is not a lot of homework or tests, so everything has a lot of weight.
Loved the class. She is definitely not easy and you have to attend and takes notes.
Lectures are interesting and easy to follow. However, she's a harsh grader and can get defensive if questioned about poor grades. Be sure to take good notes and don't skip class. At the beginning of the semester she wanted students to purchase an online history lab that costs $99. She later stated it wasn't required.
Dr. Keyt brings a more sociological approach to history. Her goal is to explain not only what happened in the past, but why it happened and how it shapes our identity and behavior today. She looks at cultural meaning behind food, jobs, climate, power relationships, plus more! She was balanced with good proofs and readings for her arguments.
She isn't a bad teacher, but her grading expectations were never communicated and the grading was completely random. One test the class average was a 66%, and the next test averaged 93%. She also talks very fast during lectures, so it is important to pay attention and go to class.
She is the WORST do not take this class. She was not clear on her grading and everyone lost points for stupid specific mistakes that she did not mention! One of the worst teachers ever. Along with this, lectures are hard to follow and have lots of info you don't need.
Definitely didnt look forward to her classes. She practically just had a picture up on the screen and read a textbook for an hour. She wasnt horrible, just graded carelessly at times. Her grading ran completely on ego, so if she was feeling good one day youd get a good grade and vice versa. Not a terrible class, just a lot of BS like all gen eds.
Great class. Loved the lectures. Lectures are not from text at all. Must read and listen. Not easy. Fair grader, but not a push over. Expects you to learn history even if you are an engineer. Do not take if you do not plan to attend or work for a grade.
Wonderful. looked forward to class. interesting and had to attend. Had to do homework and assignments. Not easy, but interesting, fair, and a great teacher.
Great Prof. Not easy, nor a push over.
Clara lectures all period every class, but her lectures are very detailed. Studying for tests and doing pop quizzes (5 a semester) is super easy as long as you take good notes. I found going to every class very helpful as she does give so much information in one class period, it is only hurting you if you miss a large chunk of notes.
Do not buy the textbook you don't use it once! Just show up to class, take good notes, do the extra credit and you'll do great! The tests are graded easy especially the final. But trust me drink some coffee before class or you'll be sleeping every class. The only thing that kept me going was all the notes she has you take. And no homework ever.
She's really knowledgeable on her subject, but is very strict in class. Laptop use is heavily monitored and absolutely no cell phones. Tests are all essays, and the grading depends on your TA. Pop quizzes are given essay style, but if you miss class you'll really regret it. She's very nice and cool if you go talk to her!
I didn't enjoy or understand history until I took this class. Lots of information given during lecture so it's important to go. Only grades for the class are essay exams and one paper. She goes into heavy detail about why everything is important, which made it really interesting to me. Great professor.
Keyt was a good professor. Her classes were valuable, but you really have to watch out for her pop quizzes. Because the class is based off so few points, just missing a pop quiz or two will bump you down to a B. She really likes giving pop quizzes on the least likely of days, like the friday before Spring Break. Just don't underestimate her class.
Literally I believe this women is trying to sabatoge you and your grade. She knows a lot and holds herself to that. She kinda wants to prove shes better at history then you rather then teaching the material. She just puts pictures on her PowerPoints then just talks. She only does pop quizzes and essay tests. Her study guides are also no help :)
I have mixed feelings about Dr. Keyt. She definitely knows what she is talking about and she makes material easy to understand, however she can be rather unpleasant at times. She is a quantity over quality grader on the tests, and she will passively shame you over questions you may have. She said the book was required, I didn't open once.
Dr. Keyt clearly knows her stuff but she can be very rude to students. Don't do anything on your phone because she will literally call you out in front of the whole class. She has pop quizzes that are essays and they are a huge part of your grade so DO NOT miss class. Her tests aren't bad if you study. SO MUCH WRITING IN THIS CLASS
Have to take notes the entire time but still very straightforward
She clearly knows a lot about history, however since CO151 is a gen ed course she seems to be very harsh in order to get through it as fast as possible. Very "my way or the highway" about learning; goes very fast through lectures, doesn't post slides (not like they would be much help; only pictures), and doesn't "do" study guides
Great professor, I respect her style of teaching, as I actually learned something for once! Come to class because she doesn't post the lectures online and you NEED to write notes on her lectures because the tests are solely based on them. No textbook use, save your money! Super easy A if you attend every class!
So terribly boring
Her lectures are very easy to understand and very interesting.
5 easy pop quizzes, as long as you show up and take notes you will do well. She is such a sweetie and is extremely passionate, you will do well because she will captivate you. I LOVED this class.
Dr. Keyt was a great professor. Shes a little intimidating, but shes not as much of a hard ass as she might come off as. Theres basically no homework in this class, as long as you show up everyday and take really good notes, it was an easy A. You just have to go to class
My absolute favorite teacher ever! She initially seems intimidating but shes super cool and passionate about what she does. If I could take this class over and over again I would. If you show up and do your assignments you will pass easily.
Clara Keyt is a real gem at CSU. She is a mentor to her students and she takes her time to get to know her classes. Her lectures are always thorough and interesting. She composes herself in the most professional manner while maintaining friendships with her students. If you are interested in history, a course with Dr. Keyt is a MUST.
Dr. Keyt is scary at first but is actually a really nice person. There are 3 tests, 5 pop quizzes, and 1 major paper. She spaces everything out very well but fell behind at the end of the semester. Go to class because she will know your face and it is decent learning experience. Sometimes the lectures are boing but totally worth going to.
Clara is very scary. My class bonded over our distest for her. One day a student directly asked for help and she said "people would laugh at you if you turned this in." She loves history and liberal arts, and I learned a lot from her class, but as a person, she is very scary.
Professor Keyt was amazing. She made the class super interesting. Most assignments are straightforward and simple. It's basically all lectures until the exams and short group writing assignments. She also didn't make us do ice breakers at the beginning of the year which was a nice change. She makes an effort to talk to students before class starts.
Keyt may be an okay history professor, but NEVER take her Honors seminar. She is condescending, constantly tells STEM majors that they have no idea how to understand anything besides science. She showed prejudice against several different religious groups in lecture, and offered to "educate" us in her office if we disagreed with her opinions.
