very nice lady. if students keep asking questions, shell keep answering unti times up and the homework will have to be assigned another time. a bit unorganized though

She's really nice, and it is a really easy class. You have to attend though if you miss more than allowed, she will drop you without any hesitation. I would recommend her for sure if you want an easy pass. Be prepared to write A LOT!

A very nice teacher, she really goes out of her way to help every indivisual person one at a time. You can always aske her any question, and its a fairly easy class. Just a lot of writing.

This was the best teacher I could've gotten for my English class. DEFINATELY NOT EASY, BUT SUPERHELPFUL. She is very caring about her students and relates well with them which makes the class even more interesting. ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS IVE HAD SO FAR. Also joke with her about her Vespa, she enjoys it (I think).

very nice and has a good sence of humor. sometimes unclear on what she wants in your papers, but very helpful. overall a pretty good class.

first impression: hate her. she DEFFINATELY eases up, and as long as you do her essays she will like you. I'm glad i took her she taught me a lot!

Professor Oropeza is a great teacher. She leads thought provoking, interesting discussions. She is a very strong woman who wants her students to expand their ways of thinking. class is very laid back and informal during discussion, and Oropeza talks to the students as adults or equals.

she's colorful, if you do the work she grades fair. at least the lit is interesting, not all dead white males.

If you're not into thinking and learning, then you should avoid this class. But if you want to be challenged and have an experience that is beyond 13th grade, I recommend her. She's a cool professor, and not that it matter, but HOT too.

Professor Oropeza is extremely knowledgeable about the material she teaches, and she's also very open and accepting of her students' ideas during discussions about reading assignments. If you care about your grade, or at least pretend to, she will too.

if you stil have the mind set of a high schooler, then this class is not for you. She takes you outside of your comfort zone and makes you think outside the box. She is also very caring not only about your academics but about you as her student. took her at first for 110 then 111 enjoyed every bit and had a wonderful experience.

professor Oropeza is one of the best professors i've had so far. she answers all the questions (even the stupid one).her class is fun and intellectual.she make all her students engage in the discussions and is open to everyone's opinions. she treats her students as equal and is extremely helpful with every paper she assigns.

If you want to actually learn and take something with you from college (other than a smaller frontal lobe and a hang over) then take Clara's Eng 111 class. It's a lot of work,and you will be challenged, but after it's all over you'll wonder where she was your whole life!!!

If you don't want to gain any new knowledge + want an easy A, Oropeza's class is not for you. This class is for those who actually want to learn something. The material is engaging and the lectures/dicussions are insightful. She might seem a little kooky at first, but she'll grow on you- she's one of the best professors at SBCC

She is really a very interesting person and a nice teacher. The class and the assignments are not easy, but still enjoyable. I feel I learned a lot and now I am thinking even to change my major to english! I you are interested in english and willing to learn and develop, I reccomend her.

Getting an A+ grade in her class is a challenge. But for quality teaching, I give her an A+. She is particular about attendance, punctuality and datelines for work.

Attend EVERY class. Turn in EVERY assignment - even though she's an english teacher she grades like a math teacher (aka 79.5% = C) Be sure to attend office hours if you ever have questions - this is EXTREMELY important. If you do these 3 things even a relatively unimpressive english student can get a B. All A's on essay but missing hw = B. becarefu

Did anyone forget to say that she is the ANTHROPOLOGIE lady :) Seriously there is no way around it, she must spend a fortune on those outfits:) But anyways, she is cool, I kind of liked her as a prof.

Overall I thought she was a good teacher. Easy to contact/communicate with, and everything in the class was straight forward and easy to follow!

She had a cold front in the first week of class assigning classwork and homework papers every evening. I realized that this was only to 'wash-out' the slackers. the rest of the class consisted entirely of literary analysis and was pretty fun. note: she gets VERY upset at being put in the position of a baby sitter so leave immaturity at the door!

i really liked her. she even pushed back due dates for our big papers. fair grader

I really liked her, it was an interesting class and is really easy if you just pay attention.

In Clara's class hard work and an honest effort pays off - if your taking this class expecting an easy grade, then her class is not for you. She holds her students up to the highest standard, however is always willing to help when asked. She is a very interesting and insightful person, highly recommended

Professor is a pretty straightforward teacher. This is not the class to take if you are a slacker and don't like doing your homework or essay (which she does give a lot of) so be prepared to work hard but she is helpful and all the material is pretty clear. I would recommend this teacher.

Great teacher took her for 110 & then 111. Lou was very helpful when it came to writing essays. Not a tough grader at all, as long as you do the work you'll get a decent grade. Wasn't much hw in 111 at the beginning but more towards the end of semester, 110 did have a lot more hw tho. The major thing is to do well on the essay's & you'll do fine.

Truly great teacher, I took as many classes with her as I could. She met me for coffee outside class and took a real interest in my success.

I'm used to coasting through english classes. Unfortunately, Prof. Oropeza wasn't the best teacher, and so it was frustrating when she blamed me and my classmates for not understanding her ridiculously hard essay prompts. That being said, as soon as I asked for help she gave me more than I asked for, which is how I managed to get an A.

If your a lazy student don't take her especially if your gonna be late all the time because that shows her you don't care but for the most part if you take her you will learn and become prepared for the next level whatever that may be for you. I recommend her !

Professor Oropeza is one of the best English I've had. She expects the best from her students and does not settle for less. The material given to the class is really speaks out to you. She keeps you engaged in the reading, and makes it enjoyable.

I took Professor Oropeza's Eng 111 class and I loved it! She picks interesting topics to read and write on, is super helpful, and elevates your writing to a higher standard. I was relieved to be in a class where all views were welcome. You definitely need to stay on top of writing assignments.

Professor Oropeza is such a sweet lady, she truly cares about her students, especially those who take the time to meet with her and talk to her. My writing skills definitely improved after her class. The readings are not difficult, and it may seem easy to put them off but just do them! The class is nicely structured and easy to follow.

You have to show her that you care about the class, then she will go out of her way helping you. She cares about her students. She is talking about topics that are relevant today. She offers extra credit. She's the sweetest lady ever but be aware of hard work, you have to earn your grade. Try to talk in class, she appreciates that.

The course had a lot of papers, however, they were graded fairly. Students that complained about her were the ones that missed class. She really helped me learn my writing style which will help me going forward in my college career. I really enjoyed her lecture style which is based on group dialog. She is very intelligent and socially aware.

She's a great teacher! Don't be afraid to participate. I promise it helps to dwell on your ideas and thoughts. As long as you budget your time, it's extremely manageable.

I went into her class very intimidated, but in the end, had lots of fun. She does assign a good amount of essays, but after turning in the first one, I realized that caring too hard on the actually essay doesn't matter as long as you pick a good quote and give a reasonable explanation to it.

I took English110 with Professor Oropeza and she was the most amazing English teacher I have ever had! She encourages you and inspires to try your best. She helps each student develop better skills as a writer. I still email her so she can help me with my essays. I totally recommend taking her class!

Oropeza is a great teacher. When your reach out to her, she is kind and shows that she cares about your grade. Expect less small assignments and more papers. Not hard work if you put in effort.

I do not understand why Dr. O has received a such poor rating. So many people are complaining about her work ethic as a professor, but they're wrong. She's crystal clear about what she expects of you. Sure, multiple font colors can be annoying, but the workload is enjoyable and interesting. I def grew as a writer and surely recommend her class.

Dr. O is a really good professor and has taught me to think outside the box with the reading assignments. Manageable workload and an easy class if you put in the work and effort. Would take her class again.

So amazing!! I had to retake this class because my last class was made so difficult, but Dr.O has made me find my love for learning again. Seriously so caring and great at giving feedback, can be hard to reach at times but she always makes sure everything gets taken care of. Would recommend her over and over and over!

Dr. O is very enthusiastic about her teaching and that is present throughout the entire class. She really cares about the well-being of all the students and wants us all to succeed. I don't understand the criticisms on here because she's awesome and very helpful! She pushed me to think outside the box and I'm a better writer for it.

Dr. Oropeza is an amazing professor. She really cares about what she teaches and makes sure you feel cared for too. She always responded to questions and made it clear what she expects from you. Overall, amazing teacher and person! Would take again

Her class had few assignments and was barely two hours of work a week. Other people say she's a tough grader, but if you go to her office hours she'll tell you exactly what she wants to see and she'll like you more. Pretty easy A if you put in bare minimum effort and show you care.
