Not a good teacher, you can hardly understand what she says and she does not know how to teach. I recommend that you use your textbook as your aid to help you get the marks you want.
not a good prof..if you can its in your best interest to get a better prof..i had her for first year stats..she is hard to understand..when you ask her for help she dosnt explain it properly, she rushes her slide..her notes and are messy..if you are stuck with her just read the book and youll be fine!
i dunt kno wht everyone is complaining about. shes an excellent prof!! all you need to do to pass the course is go to the lectures where she'll go over powerpoints sumerizing the chapters in the textbook and thats all u need to kno for the mid term n final!! i never even read my textbook...jus used it to do practice questions.
If you go to lecture she explains everything EXACTLY how it will be on tests. I haven't open my text book yet and I am doing really well. People don't like her because she is extremly thorough and if you dont pay attention to what she is talking about you will be lost. She is one of the best profs I have had so far.
she's hot
Really good prof! If you go to every class and pay attention you will have no problems and will get a good mark. She is really good at explaining the material and uses relevant examples. I did not open my textbook once and really well! The review problems done in class are pretty much exactly how they will be on the tests.
Worst professor i've had. She means well and want students to do well, however, her english is horrible! It was difficult to understand her with her accent, if you don't understand her, change the professor immediately. Course content is pretty easy if you attend class and study hard.
1. She is hard to understand 2. She is impossible to communicate with outside of class 3. She very picky, to a point where it is pointless to question why she does that. 4. She is a smart individual, knows her stuff, can teach good if she really put the effort to slow down and control the class. 5. Overall, she isn't bad, but isn't the greatest.
Hilarious, not necessarily on purpose though. Really fast, its hard to keep up with her lectures, which is annoying if you aren't good at math.
Good prof, but not respected by the noisy class. Thick accent. Having taken stats before, I didn't have much of a problem. However, she goes through the material very fast and can be difficult for people new to stats. Somewhat hard to learn from. Her class isn't a death sentence, but try and find another prof if you can.
Yes, her accent is hard to understand and she goes a little fast. But she is honestly the most thorough and helpful professor I've ever had. Disliked her in the beginning, but was SO thankful I had her in the end. Failed my first quiz, had 60% on the mditerm and a 95% on the second quiz AND final. She's great, all you have to do is pay attention an
She is a decent professor, in class she goes over several examples but often too quickly. Doing the assigned homework problems help, but you'll find that a handful of mid term/exam questions aren't from the book and require critical thinking. From time to time she'll make mistakes since she goes too quickly and it gets irritating. Decent prof.
Had this prof for 102 and was SOOO LUCKY to get her for 202. I definitely recommend her she is very thorough can patient with the class. Has an accent but she is brilliant. TAKE THIS PROF!
Best Stats prof. out of the bunch. Knows her stuff. Good examples. Thick accent. Great Slides.
great teacher, knows what shes doing. unintentionally funny and has an accent. her tests will trip you out cause all the choices you have will all be realistic answers (no obvious answer), you'll leave thinking you did well but dont be surprised to see a mark lower than you expected
I had Chua for QMS102. As I was new to university, her first quiz was a bit of a shock. I did well (95%), HOWEVER, all of the possible options are in her multiple choice, so you must be careful. All evaluations (except the online work) are multiple choice. Study hard and you should do fine. She isn't the best teacher. Overall an easy course.
Had her for QMS202 in the summer and she was absolutely fantastic. Her accent is not an issue at all, and if you sit in the first row, she'll get to know you and help you out more. She's very nice and her tests are very fair. Just go through all the handouts she provides and you'll be good.
Her online notes are amazing. I used them instead the textbook. You may think because she wrote the textbook that the textbook is going to be used alot. But her notes are honestly more important and easier to read. Generally an easy course basically a learning how to use the calculator course. if you actually want to learn she isn't the prof for u.
Course material is baby food, but tests are very tricky the multiple choice screws you over big time.
Best Professor
The best prof i had first semester, very helpful. Make sure you go to her class because the examples she does will help you on the test and exams.
best prof i had first semester, just make sure you go to every class and go through the handouts she gives
Loveeee Clare! She's probably the best Stats prof out there. Yes she has a bit of an accent, but most of these comments are extremely exaggerated. You can understand what she's saying perfectly.Take QMS102 AND 202 with Clare!
Honestly this has to be the worst class ive been to, like she tries to help out and everything, but it just doesnt work. She is too fast, very messy, unclear, cannot reas her writing. and probably the worst part. THERE ARE NO TA's! like come on she has 400 students how are we all suppost to get help from her?!? Overall she wants you to do good but.
Awesome Prof! Her handouts that she does in class basically teach you everything you need to know so GO TO CLASS and practice the problems and you'll get perfect
The review packages she hands out makes this course easy .Make sure you study from handout packages!!! she posts the answers online and test and final are very reasonable.
Clare is the best! Her handouts are awesome and help you greatly. Her teaching style is so great and her tests are really fair! She emphasizes stuff and it is mandatory to show up to class. Her handouts really helped study for the tests and she gives so much help. SPSS assignment was easily marked as well, although it was a pain to do. Final=easy
Clare Chua-Chow IS THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAD ALL OF FIRST YEAR. She is an amazing person and an amazing teacher just go to class and focus because she does go a tiny bit fast (if you tell her to slow down though she will) TAKE HER CLASS her tests are sooo fair as long as you know your stuff they are a breeze
Best class was with Clare. She is hilarious (even names her son Zed after the Z-test) and cares about her students doing well. Her tests are very fair if you know the material but there are no tricks. Take her if you can!
Honestly provides you with everything you need. Just got to go to class and fill out her handouts and thats basically your studying.... the textbook is easy once you learn all that. Easy A+
Clare is absolutely the greatest prof! I always hated working with numbers but she totally changed that. Never even had a background in data management! SHOW UP TO CLASS and do her packages as she goes through them in class. 2 tests, a Final and a bunch of modules, ALL SUPER EASY. I have her for QMS 202, so excited!
I never took data management in high school but managed to ace QMS 102 with Clare. Her worksheets really help alot as the textbook can be confusing and dry. The 2 tests and exam were fair and as long as you pay attention and study the important concepts you should be able to pass no problem. I'd definitely take QMS 202 with Clare again.
Clare's classes are awesome! Although she has a slight accent, she's pretty easy to understand. Her worksheets are definitely helpful and the eHomework definitely supplements the understanding of Statistics. Highly recommend you take her in Chang School (mainly for smaller class size) or day school.
Professor Chua really cares about her students and always ensures that every student gets a good mark. She goes into her own time and holds weekend tutoring sessions before tests and goes over the curriculum. Her review packages and in class sample questions she gives are really helpful. Overall great prof, highly recommend.
Best math prof ever
By far one of the best professors at Ryerson, Clare's lectures are godly, she gives you a million handouts and goes through a ton of examples. Her test can be tricky, so you still have to study outside of class. Overall amazing, would not hesitate to take a class with her again.
honestly, she is the best prof to take when it comes to taking QMS 102 202. I wish i had for QMS 102 because i did poorly on it. But 202 was super easy with her! if you show up to class and pay attention to her you will 100 ace it !
Great prof, gives a homework sheet at the end of every lecture, and takes it up at the beginning of the next lecture. MAKE SURE YOU DO THOSE WORKSHEETS BECAUSE THOSE ARE BASICALLY THE TESTS. She tells you EVERYTHING that will be tested (2 tests and a final). The online assignments are easy marks, bumps you 10% if you finish them all.
She goes really fast and doesn't give students a chance to understand the material; has a hard getting the class to quiet down. Most of the time goes through full 3 hrs, was brutal some days.
Clare Chua Chow is a GIFT in 1st year. Her explanations saved the GPA's of all my friends who had other hard teachers. She gives the "Holy Handouts" that are in the same format as the tests/exams. She goes over EVERY question even to the point of using a whole hour of lecture as review for the Mid Term. The only thing to watch out for is SPSS.
SHE IS THE BEST PROF EVER! DO NOT TAKE ANYONE ELSE FOR ANY STATS CLASS!
She is probably one of the best profs for QMS! Extremely helpful, explains the material very well, her lectures and PowerPoint slides are very detailed. You can understand them without going to class also. Highly recommended!
Amazing. I walked into her class without any data management knowledge at all and walked out with an A+. Her handouts are blessed and if you do the homework and pay attention, you'll have absolutely no problems. Wish I had her for QMS202 but everyone knows how good she is so it's tough to get a spot.
She is straight-foward prof. However she goes a bit too fast and her writing his kind of messy but take her sh is best qms prof.
One of the best profs at Ryerson. She can actually TEACH. Would definitely recommend. Go to every class, pay attention, get her handouts, do the project and I guarantee you'll get an A+. Only complaint is that i felt she was kind of judgmental of me, although I was late to most classes so that might be why.
Gives handouts that teach better than other professors in QMS. Clear grading scheme and opportunities to further understand the content (Bonus Marks). SPSS is a piece of cake, go to her help lectures (there's over 10 in the whole course). Very intelligent and simplifies the content to whats most important and needed to know. She truthfully cares.
she's awesome! you definitely need a good prof for this course. i had her qms 202 and 102 and she was amazing both times, her handouts are very helpful. YOU HAVE TO TAKE QMS WITH HER!!
Clare is fantastic! She prints out notes for the class every week and goes over many examples to make sure everyone understands. She shows you step by step how to use the calculator and will show you things over and over if you ask. She's very patient and doesn't make it seem like your questions are interrupting her lecture. Fight to get her!
Clare is the best statistics prof at Ryerson. Goes through all the practice questions and teaches you how to use the calculator for the test. The lectures are boring, but she is by far the best Statistics prof. Got a 100 on both midterms and the project before the final. Extremely helpful and wants her students to succeed. Practice-get an A.
Pretty good stats prof, although she does tend to go a bit fast. Very helpful handouts.
Amazing Professor! She takes the time to explain in detail about course topics and allows for questions during lectures. She gives handouts that are extremely helpful. I enjoyed taking her class! I would recommend taking her class!
She is a fantastic professor! Her lectures are mainly centred towards doing multiple examples of the same concept so students really grasp the material. She provides printed out packages with her slides so you easily follow along in her lectures. However, she is very fast so you have to be focused during lectures so you do not miss anything.
Clare was my favourite professor during my first semester at Ryerson, although the course can be a bit tough her class was great to learn the material in. Not only does she teach use with examples, she also has her own handouts every class for s to use and learn with.
Clare is amazing.. she'll make sure you get how stats work but its my second time taking her for the second stats course and does she make the tests so hard because she wants to make sure you get it but tricks you on tests..... she's too hard and I regret taking her now even if she stats god.
One of the best professors at Ryerson. She truly cares about students and what students are learning. QMS 102 was a great course and it was really fun because of Dr. Chua.
She is definitely the top choice for any QMS courses. This is my second time having her, and I really enjoy her teaching style. She gives packages to students and completes them with you, while explaining the concepts. However, she is very fast so you have to be focused as to not miss anything.
Great professor and explains things very clearly. I had taken QMS202 during the regular semester with another professor and didn't do do too well so I decided to take CQMS and it is very easy because this professor is very good. I don't know why I didn't understand it before.
Lots of reading, tons of information, but you actually end up learning something, not just earning a credit.
SHE IS THE BEST
She is the compiler of the text book and she is not the author. A lot of mistake in the textbook. On line assignment is the worst learning experience.
Textbook has a lot of mistake. On line assignments make learning become impossible. She need to improve he English and MAth. nO MATH SENSES AT ALL
Online and textbook have lot of errors. these make us have have bad experience in learning statistics. She has communication problem.....
You learnt a lot of errors from her. Textbook has a lot of errors and online homework should be demolished. I advise ryerson first year students try not to enroll her class
Professor Chua is the best.... the smartest professor in Ryerson. Thanks for helping us to get high marks in our test 2. Without your special way, I will not pass this test. THANKSSSSSSS . Love u very much. For sure, I will take your course
Great Stats Professor!! Her lectures are really useful, you wont even need to read the textbook as she goes over everything in class. Overall very clear and helpful teacher, really cares about her students doing well.
Professor Chua allowed her students to write their test 2 after 12 noon so her students had opportunity to get test questions from those who wrote their test at 10:30am. Is that FAIR for other students . Let report this to the chair ASAP
She does a million examples in class so you have time to understand new concepts!
Taker her for stats. She does do example fast but she does so many that you eventually figure it all out by the end of class and if you have any questions she is always willing to stay and explain things to you. Sit close to the front, make your presence known, work hard and you'll be happy.
She does so many examples and really simplifies all the topics. Her lectures helped me so much.
Chua is an amazing prof. The only downside to her is that she takes the full 3hrs which is unecessary, repeats things and wastes time on formula methods when we can use the calculator. She covers everything you need to know for the tests so if you skip, good luck. No need for textbook. Her packages and statlab will prepare you. Finished with A+
Yes, she is over rated. Very inorganized prof. Very boring lecture. Failed to engage the class. Very hard to understand her English
LOVE HER ... 100% RECOMMEND. She goes over examples in class. she's always available after class and her ta is great help. she wrote the textbook and i her class was my fav
Nice profess. She is the compiler of our text book this textbook contains ton of errors. I think she has limited statistics knowledge. Will contact bookstore for textbook refund. Will contact Ryerson president if they still use this textbook again in fall 2018.
She is a very nice professor. However, she is over rated here. Her textbook has ton of errors. She needs to improve her English
Super NICE professor but her textbook has ton of errors. Extremely shock with her textbook. No quality at all....
She takes the full 3 hours for lectures which is a bit much. Never bought the textbook but showed up to every lecture. Went into the exam with 92%. Tests were fair and graded fast. If you put in the work you'll get a good mark. SPSS should be worth more of your mark. The booklets she hands out are really good practice. Would take her again!
Hands down shes the best. No one can beat her with stats
Honestly, the only bad thing I can say about her, is that she starts class early and ends class late. Her in class practice questions are repetitive, but you will definitely grasp the material. Theres no excuse to not get an A in her course. If you get into her section, keep her! And if you arent, try to switch!
We love her very much. Very nice professor. The class was noisy and her text book has ton of errors
Super nice professor. Always try to help students. For the common Test 2, she let us wrote our test after 12 noon so we had chance to get test questions from students who wrote their test at 10:30a.m. l got A+ in that test. Thanks professor Dr. Chua.
Clare chua taught a lot of incorrect statistic concepts in class. Her text book is far the worst. No quality at all. Will get refund from bookstore in fall 2018.
She is unorganized sometimes, but overall she is a good prof.
BEST STATS PROF YOU WILL EVER GET! she gives out packages each class that she fills out with you. every other prof just talks about the lesson. if you actually pay attention you will get an EASY A
she is very kind to provide a lot of handouts which she has recycled them for more than 10 years. Lot of errors in the handouts and her lectures. The worst part is the textbook written by her full with errors. Professor Gunawardena advised his students to stay away from this textbook. Clare Chua is not fit to assign to teach any statistics courses
Great professor, as long as you attend the classes and do the readings and statlab questions, you will ace the exams. Unsure why people are complaining about getting good grades in her class as an end result!? several handouts provided in class. Not crazy about how questions are set up on statlab but an overall positive experience.
Clare chua does not have math sense at all. How could we have negative zero in math? Check the textbook written by her that is used in QMS102. OMG, we have this type of professor In Ryerson. Please save our students future!!!!!!
This professor has invented zero negative, 6to 13 stems and 5 to 10 classes and also others pretigious invention without any proof and derivation. The greatest mathematician in the world.
Professor Clare is the pioneer who introduces negative zero in math. The pretigious idea and the pretigious idea. She is the greatest professor in math.
clare is the best - i love her. took her for both qms102 and 202 - 4.33's. she's the best
The best stats prof there is. She is the KEY to passing the course. She goes over numerous examples in class, goes out of her way to print out booklets for her students, and explains everything step by step. C^3 is the stats wiz.
Honestly one of the best proffesors I've ever had, taught with extreme clarity and had extremely comprehensive homework. Little bit of a drag to do it all, but def worth the grind. ez 4.33
The most amazing and caring teacher you will ever get. She will do everything in her power to help you succeed and she does tutorial classes before tests/ exams which are optional but super helpful
I had Clare for both QMS101 and QMS202! Although she has an accent, she is caring and wants her students to pass. She gives out plenty of booklets during class and is taken up then. Her stat-lab questions are fairly easy and all her tests from both course consists of examples done in class and mystatlab. Attend class, participate, practice: Easy A.
Clare is a kind prof, she wants her students to succeed. I didnt use the textbook once and I aced her class. If u ask her for help, she will do the extra mile to help the student succeed.
Clare is a solid prof, she gives you handouts that breakdown the content step by step and goes through them during the lecture. She's transparent with content that's going to be tested and extends the MyLab's so you can use them to prepare for tests and the final. Sets your mark up well going into the final with fair tests and the SPSS project.
Shes a GOOD prof! I dont know why there are bad ratings but she is very helpful, very kind and caring. If you come to class and pay attention her methods will stick to you. She offers extra help for the labs assignments and test which are very helpful.
Professor Clare the only good side of her class is you don't have to write notes. She gives you packages every class based on the lesson she is going to teach. Her accent is super heavy, teaching style sucks. You need a good prof to pass this course. Only reason I did well is because second half was online. Tests are hard and SPSS project is lame.
Honestly she's not as terrible as the reviews are saying! She does have a heavy accent which at times makes it hard to understand, but she gives out packages before exams and tries her best to explain the concepts. There was one group project, which she marked fairly well! If you do the weekly quizzes, or attempt to, she takes that into considerati
She provides ton of errors in her books and lecture notes. My private tutor told me that she does not have a math or statistics degree .OMG, this only will be happened in Ryerson.
Clare is an alright professor. This course itself is already hard because its two subjects/courses combined into one. The Modules are pretty easy and they help with understanding each concept. I personally never used the textbook and followed her power points or her modules. The final exam was pretty well tested but the first midterm was brutal.
Text book as well as her notes, full with lot of errors. I am wondering if she has a math or statistics. Will contact the Dean to find out.....
Easily to tell that she does not have a basic degree in statistics or mathematics . Will get confirm from university.
Professor Chua is the greatest professor in tram. Provided us a lot of printed notes. Those notes are great but with ton of errors. Those free printed package are the same since 12 years ago. No update notes. She taught us a lot of unreasonable rules in statistics. Great in teaching unreasonable stuff but horrible in teaching real statistics.
She taught us a lot of unreasonable rules in this rules Those rules are arbitrary rules. She told us that stem and leaf requires 6 to 13 stem but we asked her to prove it or to justify it, but she failed to do so. We got shock when she told us that 7 divided by 0 equals to 0. The greatest mathematician in the world. Great to be her student. Bravo
She has a PHD and she wanted us to address her Dr. Chua. We do not think she even has an undergraduate degree in math or statistics. Ryerson has a lot of jokes ......
1. Records 10min out of a 2hr lecture 2. Cannot explain concepts clearly, most of the learning is done during the tutorial the next day 3. Course isn't difficult and Dr. Chan isn't malicious but rather unqualified as many have pointed out for this job 4. She doesn't have a degree in statistics but rather management best advice: switch out!
Dr. CHUA is a very smart professor who has a PhD. She wanted us to call her Doctor. She is a great doctor in promoting herself. However, a PhD doctor does not mean she is expert in all field. She does not have a math or statistics undergraduate degree but Ryerson gives her permission to teach statistics courses. Bravo.
Course is easy, but the way she teach is NOT... Records portions of the lecture during COVID time, so you're left clueless of what is going on jumping in mid lecture at the start of the video. Posts wrong lecture on wrong module... does not "teach" but rather "reads", does not listen to her students during lecture... list goes on...
She's not the worst professor I've ever had, But she's definitely up there.
This course was so hard, especially taken during the pandemic. It was really overwhelming and her lecture was super confusing. Too much homework and I struggled a lot to deal with this course. It was too much to do for one course and most of it I had to learn by myself.
Tests are really tough and non reflective of the homework lab questions at all. I have found mistakes in modules MANY TIMES (wrong formula, description, etc). Assignment instructions are completely different than given data or other instructions that she gives. Many times instructions for modules or assignments contradict what she says.
Prof Chua Chow is very knowledgable and knows her content but lacks any ounce of human compassion for her students. She deleted ALL recorded lectures 1 week before the final and then stop answering emails. She said we have to use software on the exam and then barely teaches us how to use it. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
She doesn't teach, she read out loud what it is on the slides. She keeps saying what we have to do, but she doesn't explain how. I don't understand her lectures at all and she is terrible at communicating AND teaching. One of the worst professors I've ever had. Put all the work to her TA and seems to not care about her students at all.
Professor Dr. Clare chua-chow is a very smart professor. She has a PHD and she thinks she is an expert in all subject matters. Yes, she is an expert in reading out slides loudly. This is due to her limited knowledge in statistics. She does not even have an undergraduate mathematics or statistics degree. Ryerson likes to jokes with students
Amazing! Truly shows what Ryerson is capable of doing when their students piss them off.
AVOID! Ryerson's standard is going down every year, thick accent, scribbles all over lectures. Took down all the lecture recording BEFORE EXAM!!! WTF! Check sunshine list she MAKES OVER $200K YET SHE CANT TEACH! Absolute nonsense of a prof makes TA's do all the work, her teaching style is absolute bogus and TOTAL MESS. The job is too big for her.
I used to love statistics. It was my passion. However, after taking this prof, I don't even wanna look at numbers anymore. She truly broke my heart after: - Having unclear slides with scribbles all over it - No question help on any of the modules - Took off all the lecture recordings before the final exam Guess my dreams will never come true :(
First thing she tells the class is that only half of her class passed the previous semester and made it seem like she was gloating about it. She has modules due on the weekends even during reading week, some even had to take their midterm on the Sunday of reading week. Changes the due dates without any warning or notice. Does not reply to emails
What type of professor deletes pre-recorded lectures a week before the exam????? Extremely thick accent, does not respond to emails, terrible teaching style... should I continue?? All I have to say is do yourself a favour and don't take this terrible professor.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! She is a terrible professor, who does not answer emails and does not know how to teach. Do not take this class!
She was great at first but then proceeded to delete all the lecture recordings. AVOID IF U CAN
She blames students when they get bad grades and then threatens to make the exam short answer... OH and she deleted all the lecture recordings before the exam
If i could give a 0 i would. She deleted ALL recordings a week before the exam, makes her tests extremely hard, has a very messy teaching style and has so many classes she cant keep up with. She needs to reconsider her job because she was one of the worst profs ive ever had at RYE. I will never be taking another QMS course thanks to Prof chow.
Recorded lectures would not work, prof deleted all of them 12 hours before final exam. Both tests had a lot of typos and students were blamed for errors, with a list of errors. Clare used few students who got 100 as an excuse that her test was good. Hypocritical, contradictive and inconsiderate. Course mismanagement. Fall asleep in 30 mins of lec
- Poor English with heavy accent - Extremely poor teaching style - Forces you to buy the textbook using myStatLab - Group projects during a pandemic... - The first day of class she told us that she will record all lectures and post them to view at our own convenience. Then she deletes the recording 1 day before exam?????????????? WTF?
I would give her a zero if I could. One of the worst professors at Ryerson. Does not care about students at all whatsoever. Deletes recordings, blames students for errors on the test that she made. Let me also add that she can not teach at all you will not benefit from her lectures, get ready to learn the course on your own if you have her. AVOID
Basically have to learn this course on your own.
Here are the facts: - she can't teach (attend one lecture and this is the first thing you'll notice) - she doesn't respond to emails - she fails to upload lectures online and when she does she deletes them - she has a HEAVY accent that not many can understand - this is a course you will 100% have to teach yourself
Honestly, if you just do the readings/course modules and work on the MyLab questions, the class itself won't be that hard. If you really don't understand the material, she offers weekly tutorials with a TA.
I am 3rd year student and this is my first comment here. One of the worst professors at Ryerson. I hope her supervisor read all these comments. She don't know how to teach, unfamiliar with technology, poor English, many errors in the test, lazy(no email respond), delete material you paid for, What else she could do to AVOID her ?
Its 1 thing to be bad at teaching its another to be ignorant. Many questions don't even make grammatical sense due to errors. When students screenshotted her questions to show her, she said that we could get charged w academic misconduct but did nothing but deny any errors. So frustrating because she ignores emails. Makes an easy course hard.
She does not even respond to emails!! Poor technology for online lectures!!
Her lectures can be a bit boring and bit hard to understand, because of the way she speaks. I attend her class but I rarely understand her lectures. I attended the tutorials by her student assistant and they are MUCH BETTER than the lecture. To get a good grade, you must attend the tutorial. It's not mandatory, but recommended to pass this course.
I cannot speak for online but I had her for in person lectures and this was the best professor ive had for a stats course thus far. I dont know why she is getting so much hate but she hands you everything on a silver platter. Go to lectures, use what she gives you and you'll do great.
If you get here, switch out immediately. Her lectures are long and boring and it is hard to understand her at times. She uses a lockdown browser for the tests, but she says her tests are open book. She makes us buy a hundred dollar online textbook that we can't even use, but if someone has a physical copy he can use it, truly unfair professor.
She is a trash professor please switch out if you get her, she has to be the worst prof for this course. Her stupid modules are hard and long to do, where she does not even explain what to do properly. When you ask her a question about the modules or the lockdown browser she completely disregards it and ignores you. She is hard to get in contact w
she is not the best prof and she is not helpful at all. I'm personally good in math that why I did good in class besides that I would have failed
just take her and do the work but beware shes heavy on the tests and quizzes oh and do the weekly hw which are easy marks
Don't skip lectures b/c she teaches you how to use the calculator - if you don't know how to use your calc, you will fail! Test 1 was very easy! Test 2 was a bit difficult. You have many opportunities to get an A. Ex: the modules, the Projects and discussion posts. Attend office hours for feedback on Projects, she tells u how to get an A+!
AVOID!!! Had to drop this class from the amount of stress it put me under. Shes a sweet woman but she does not explain things clear enough and the midterm was terrible. The lectures were painful to sit through.
This professor is very kind and she really tried to help everybody pass this semester. Our first exam was extremely difficult and everybody failed and after finding this out, the rest of our exams were very easy and she allowed us a retake for the first one. There's a lot of hw but the content is nothing you haven't already done in highschool.
Well if the whole entire class failed the first midterm, its shows that the prof is the problem.
Was initially in her class. VERY disorganized. Everything on d2l says coming soon. Orientation today but didn't post link on d2l. Each module worth 1.5% but she says 1.667% on d2l. Images posted are all corrupted. Misinterprets students' questions a lot. Many red flags. I switched out as soon as I saw Mahsa's class was open.
After completing my course with Clare it really opened my eyes to the REAL world. It's not always gonna be flowers and rainbows, soon somebody like Clare will come along. Next thing you know you're picking up your antidepressant script from your local shoppers. It was quite interesting to see our generation's version of Hitler and Stalin in one.
She doesn't know how to teach, DONT TAKE HER CLASS
She was so bad I wanted to give her a zero, but that was not possible, so I gave her one.
The grade looks great, but I went through hell to get it. Please avoid her at all costs. The entire class struggled despite most of us finishing all homework and readings. She is lost with technology and verbally incapable at explaining. Her tests are notoriously difficult. More than half the class failed the midterms and a quarter the final exams.
whats her daughters @
My labs were time consuming but I got 100% on all by spending a lot of time. Tests are hard so studyyy welll. Overall Prof recorded lecture and explained things well. Watch lectures because they have how to do the questions at the end!
Statistics, on the whole, is a challenging course. She made it a lot worst. She is the worst professor for this course. Thank God for her TA because I would not have understood anything in her class without him. She said that we needed to put more effort into the course, but she did not really teach well. SHE IS THE WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She was so bad, I wanted to give her a 0, but that was not possible, so I gave her 1.
This course was really difficult and the prof does not do a good job at explaining the concepts. Often confuses herself and messes up during lectures and the tests are very difficult, monitored with lockdown browser. Wouldn't take again.
Clare chua-Chua does not even have a basic math degree but university is still allowed her to teach math in university. No academic qualifications is required to be a math professor at Ryerson U. I will ask my older sister who dropped out from high school to apply math professor job in Ryerson.
Take any other processor but this one, very bad on communication
Take any other professor but this one, very bad on communication
her lectures are difficult to understand but i struggled self-studying without them. to get a good mark you HAVE to put the work in. you can do well if you're good at math/put hours of studying in, but if you have her just be prepared to put the effort in. i didn't enjoy her class at all.
yes she does give lots of homework but I don't get why I'm seeing so many bad reviews. she would repeat working out and would go through the context slowly so that everyone would understand - even if it was pretty easy
Had a really hard time understanding when she taught in the lectures. She is an ok teacher goes to fast sometimes and is bad at responding to emails
QMS210 Get ready to read like crazy. There are unfortunately fewer pros than cons with this professor but I'll list some of them below. Pros -Assignments are not due the same day Cons -Thick accent -Speaks quickly and quietly -Doesn't take questions during lectures -Assigns quizzes outside of class time (possibly during one of your other classes)
If you have Chua get ready to learn everything on your own. She's not a terrible prof, but her in person lectures are not easy to understand. She doesn't use the mic, speaks quickly and has an accent. However, her recorded lectures were way easier to understand and she could teach. if you don't get Mahsa for qms,Clare is the 2nd best choice by far.
Very strict and uncaring. Also, she doesn't provide ways to directly contact her; you have to go through her TAs only, which can be a problem when you have important matters. The class material isn't the worst, but I honestly think this professor makes it harder. I wouldn't take her classes again
Not as bad as the ratings say, her accent was understandable other profs were worse. Wasn't very helpful out of class, made her TA host office hours but he was very helpful. She does go pretty fast during lectures. You're not going to understand the slides she posts after class tho her handwritings a mess and she writes all over the slide.
Get ready to learn everything on your own, she has a thick accent but not as bad as other profs. makes a lot of mistakes while teaching so she confuses you even more, talks fast, slides r confusing, bad hand writing. The class it self is pretty easy mostly high school material, make sure you get 100s on the mylabs because it boosts your whole mark.
she has a thick accent, and goes pretty fast with the slides, but otherwise she's ok, just practice more problems and do the mylabs, midterm was easy but finals were difficult
I showed up to 2 lectures the whole sem and still got a 3.0. My labs do not help with exam practice. My advice for studying for the exams is to do the practice questions for each. I barely studied for the exam or midterms. Just skim through the practice questions and get an understanding of how to do them.
Her accent isn't as bad as people say, and her lectures are okay. Her handwriting is kind of hard to understand tho. Her TA jonathan was really helpful during office hours and prepared us really well for the exams.
people are exaggerating how "bad" she is. notes: - her accent isn't that heavy and she's actually very friendly, will crack a few jokes, always ends the lecture early - i think she's pretty thorough with the material and gives step by step how to solve problems - problem solving session notes are really good for studying - go to the lectures!!!
Clare isn't as bad, I found her to be great. She may have an accent and interesting slides, but she explains the concepts well and does a lot of practice for each lecture. Go to the problem-solving sessions, score perfect on MyLabs/SPSS, and ask TA for help. This course can be hard but just put in some effort. Midterm/final were open-book.
She explains all the material really well and cracks jokes at times. If you attend the lectures you will understand what is going on. As well, she provides multiple ways to help the students, through the problem solving sessions, spss demonstrations and office hours. In general, it's a difficult course but if you put the work in you'll be fine.
The worst of all BTM courses. No teaching happens in class just few examples. They teach using a calculator which no one uses. Should be teaching SaaS/Stat-crunch/SPSS/Excel throughout but no. The finals are not anything they teach you. Even the sample test completely different from exams. Only learning is SPSS assignment. AVOID
Chua was honestly a pretty good prof that covered all the topics and and showed how to do them in class. However, if it were not for her TA Jonathan, who is an absolute goat, not many would have done as good as they did. He will do example after example from the mylabs and help you as much as possible, honestly a life saver
It was my first day so I am not sure how it is as the course goes on but her accent is hard to understand and she kind of scare you at the first day saying you cannot do the exam twice and you will never do the redo exam regardless your situation and she goes too fast w the lectures. Don't recommend
Clare's classes can be tricky with her accent, but engaging with the materials like practice questions and recorded lectures helps a lot. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for exam prep alongside the course resources.
So i switched to van hilton class after having her for a day and alr she was the worst, she scares you on the first day by saying she doesn't allow you to redo the exam regardless of your situation, she won't teach the class if you come in but like majority of the class doesn't saying it's not worth her time, hard to understand and goes too fast.
She does go an extra inch to make you understand material, but she is a very tough grader and sets super tough questions for you. You really need to participate and engage in class and all the materials in order to ace the exams. Lots of contents and good practice can only save you. Given the other choices, she is a decent option. Still a 5.5/10.
Honestly not as bad as everyone says she is. Literally go to the lectures and take notes. The slides are detailed and help with studying for the two midterms and the exam. The final exam is pretty heavy on the stuff you learn after the second midterm so focus on studying on that. Yeah she does have an accent but its not that difficult to understand
Not terrible but not amazing. Very thick accent and makes a ton of mistakes while trying explain important topics. What makes up for it is how easy the homework is. The my labs that is provided is a really easy mark but do not expect the mylabs to be on the exams because they are NOT. I found the videos she provided to be helpful. Overall okay prof
Got an A in the class and probably attended half the lectures. She will go on and on about nothing, does respond rudely, but her accent is understandable if you're actually interested in what she's talking about. Course isn't hard and you can be bad at math and pass. All the 110 profs are mean but she's the “nicest” of them
Did not use the textbook other than to do the homework. Her lectures and slides were enough to learn the content so long as you take notes in class and do all the homework and practice questions. I highly recommend attending/watching the weekly problem solving sessions, they were extremely helpful.
Professor Chua does not get enough credit as a good professor for QMS. She may seem like a strict professor, but she is only preparing her students for university. The only criticism I want to give is that her slides can be all over the place and often is example heavy, so the textbook is really helpful.
Ahh where do I even begin. The course itself was a breeze but this prof made it feel like hell. On exam days, she refused to let anyone leave and even chased a kid for leaving. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU VALUE YOUR SOUL.
This is the only review you'll need. She's very decent and made the course easier by teaching us how to use the calculator. She broke down the grades into homework, 2 midterms, and SPSS projects to make it easier to pass! Her colleagues also provide weekly tutorials and record them! Only downside is that weekly homework is heavy, so don't miss them
She's not a bad prof at all. Her TA Pauline was helpful if you need additional help. SPSS assignments were easy if you watched the tutorial on how to do it. They record it so everyone can watch them. Gave an opportunity for kids to get up to a 100% bonus for the second assignment. Midterms and Final wasn't super easy but doable. Attend classes!!
Clare Chua is alright. She's nice and understanding, and will lay out the framework for her students to do well. QMS210 is mostly self-study, so grind out the MyLabs and assignments so you're familiar with the concepts on the exams. P.S this course is A LOT of work.
do mylabs on time. lock in and make good cheat sheets. calculator is compulsory to buy
Out of all the profs for this course, shes the best option. Teaches really well and is straight forward. Alot of students that but id rather have a professor set the guidelines instead of not nice and not clear. The assignments/exams have very strict due dates so make sure you complete them on time, as there are no makeup exams or extensions
She's the best amongst the worst professors for QMS 210 LOL so you should choose her. Exam questions are very hard. Make sure you attend her lectures because she teaches you how to use the calculator and apply it to the questions. This course is 80% calculator-based and 20% your own skills. A cheat sheet is also allowed
The course is difficult no matter what you have to study a lot to pass the course
icl she mid
not as bad as people make her out to be. the first test was hard but she made the second one way easier. her lectures are long a pretty boring and she often makes mistakes that can be confusing though. Her slides are also a mess when you try to go back on them to study. Other than that, shes pretty nice and does want her students to do well.
Best QMS110 prof I would say. She explains the concepts very easily and is super supportive and nice.
Hmmmmm ook
Just 'OK'. Sometimes her lectures are difficult to understand. YMMV. You should love the homework that she gives out though; It is free marks to save your grade.
classes are hard, dont wanna come to lectures? you will fail
I don't understand why Clare chua has bad rating. I had QMS 110 with her and she was great. Very organised and gave clear instructions. I am not good at maths, but still did well in the course. She is super helpful as well. I chose her again for qms 210. People think she's strict but she pushes her students to do better!!!
she was okay. there was weekly mylabs and they were kind of annoying because some questions had 5 parts per question. the midterms and final were pretty okay. you are allowed to have 1 cheat sheet per midterm and then 3 for the final.
