Excellent teacher, he explains math to a point that you will remember.
Very helpful teacher, i hate math and he makes it easy for you to understand. so does mr brown. they are both excellent math teachers.
PACES CLASS WITH FASTEST STUDENT.PROUD HE FAILED MATH 3 TIMES.GOES WAY TO FAST.TELLS YOU TO PRACTICE,DOES NOT TEACH!!!!!!ONLY INTERACTS WITH STUDENTS THAT UNDERSTAND HIS WAY!!!!
Awesome teacher! explains things very well. tests are a little difficult but when you leave his class you will know your stuff! It helps that he is easy on the eyes too!
He speaks English!!!!! I can understand we he is talking to me.
mr sullivan snorts math in his car before he walks into class. the man gets excited about teaching and then rushes you through what you dont understand. very good with tests, but falls off subject too often to keep attention.
He knows his Math and he will make sure you know that but when it comes to teaching he is horrible! He is way to fast and doesn't explain anything, he also does not care if you pass or fail or if you drop out or not. 1/2 of my Summer math class is people that failed his class! What does that tell you!
Teaches way to fast.Has some good ways to explain but goes to fast.Paces class with fastest student not good for the slower ones.Needs to SLOW DOWN DOES NOT CARE IF YOU PASS BECAUSE HE HAD TO TAKE ALGEBRA 3 TIMES.
He teachs very well and makes it very easy to understand what to do. If you don't understand, go to Math Lab. Would take again. I took him in summer so very fast.
Does not care about his students, if you dont get it then get out of his class! That is his philosophy! Do Not Take His Class!
Took this guy a few semesters ago. Do yourself a favor, stay away!! He makes it harder than it has to be!
sometimes he goes too fast and its hard tofollow especialy if you are not good in math.
Mr. Sullivan is a nice guy, but he stutters way too much. He is very hard to understand, and he doesn't like to answer questions too much. He loves yogurt, he scrapes the hell out of the container when you're taking your test.
He doesn't care about students, tells U to tgo to math lab if you have any questions. If you are not already good at math do NOT take him. If you are really good at math you will be okay, but definately a challenge.
He is a very nice teacher. The tests are difficult only because he does not give very helpful reviews. I often felt lost before the test. He is good at teaching the material, but he doesn't focus on making sure that all (or most) of the students understand the material. This class moves very fast, dragging many through the mud.
Horrible! Even tho he talks 1000 words a second I cannot stay awake and focused in his class...he bounces around from one subject to another...it is just awful! I do not suggest taking him if you are just a little bit unsure of yourself in math...try groves
Great if you are interested in going further in Math. Will give you that extra bit of knowledge that you'll need later on. Also, he is fast paced and keeps you interested. Very little class/professor interaction. Never says "Does everyone understand?" Keep your wits about you and you'll learn a lot.
he is way to fast and doesnt care what his students think and just keeps on going with his work and he knows everything smart
Dont look for any help from this guy. Never in the math lab. Doesnt drop any tests. No practice tests. Take Jarrell or Boulware
He teaches things very quickly. If you're not the best in math (like me)I would'nt recommend taking him. The test are pretty hard and he rarely reviews for them.
he goes too fast, and he tells you you'll need to know all of this stuff for precal and trig, but he doesn't actually teach you it! and he doesn't give good reviews!
He's very clear and goes fast enought to where you don't get bored. Compares math to real life and will work with you after class if you need help. This is my second math class with him and if he teaches trigonometry I will take him again.
I loved how he applied mathematical concepts to real life. It made it much more interesting. He'll work so much with you, just talk with him about whatever problem you have. He helped me out SOOOOOO much! We had a lot of interesting conversations about the environment. He was one of my fav. teachers at PBCC.
He is very helpfull..
Best profesor ever!! Very nice very helpful, applys all equations to real life so you understand the signifigance! I've taken him for prep. algebra and algebra!! Really cool guy! Teaches fast so dont miss class! Good test reviews! Really great teacher, I would definately recommend taking his class!!!!!!
I took this class during a 6 week summer session. He was a great teacher! Tends to wonder with his real life applications of math. You will learn alot and most the the time he says "hint" or "Test" if what he teaches will appear on the test or quiz! Relaxed attitude as well. I highly recommend him!
Sullivan is awesome! He is one of the most understanding professors I have had. I really enjoyed him. He teaches a little quick, but he'll give you so many examples that it gets drilled in your head. He's also not too bad on the eyes.
Math isn't always easy and teachers don't "give" grades...try going to the math lab, asking for help, and see how you do. Prof. Sullivan did his job. I came out of his class knowing what I expected to learn. He was fair giving credit for homework done, and hinted as to what would be on the test. You must pay attention and attend class.
He is great. Very helpful and understanding. He is very fair and credits your homework. If you think that you do not like math take his class he is the best math teacher ever
Great teacher, made learning fun, interesting, and simple...Im clueless when it comes to math, and he really somehow got through to me. I took him for intermediate alg, and am taking him for college..I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DUDE!!!
To make a long story short, if you study you'll pass. I was with Sullivan in Intermediate Algebra and chose him for College Algebra. I like his style of teaching, and would recommend him to other driven people willing to study more than 30 minutes a week. Thanks Professor Sullivan.
whoever put those he's great comments---not telling the truth. he lost tests; forgot to print tests for test day after we studied really hard. Would move on to another area before we tested on prior info. I ran into someone from that class; she dropped out of school after taking him!
doesnt take attendance; actually gives u credit for homework; easy quizes (just study); tells u whats going to be on the test (gives u a review outline); very nice and applies what the problem can help you with in a real life sittuation! study and do your homework.. u will get an A+
teaches and speaks too fast. doesn't ask the class as a whole if they understand or if he should stop and recap for them. he seems as if he's in a rush. this is also a math/english course. you have to learn vocabulary and write a 5 paragraph essay. i don't recommend him if math is NOT your strength. i hear Boulware and Campbell are great!!
HELL NO
mR SULLIVAN IS VERY INTERESTED IN STUDENTS LEARNING AND SUCCESS, LAST SEMESTER I TOOK HIS CLASS AFTER TESTING OUT OF PREP AND MY 1ST WEEK I WAS STRUGGLING, I TOOK HIS ADVICE AND WENT TO THE PREP CLASS, THIS SEMESTER I RETURNED TO HIS CLASS AND GOT AN "A". HE IS CLEAR AND REVIEW BEFORE MOVING ON TO NEW TOPIC
Very good teacher, if you go to class, pay attention and do your homework you'll get an easy A.
I hate the fact that his tests are not based on the book and his point system of grading them.
Very Good Teacher, Extremely helpful.
He always trys to put the math in perspective. If you like baseball, he will make the problem related to baseball. He's understanding, and gives plenty of tips and hints. Will give you plenty of notice for tests and quizes. Take his class.
goes way to slow. its an easy class. he teaches it great. i would take it again. i manage to sleep and pull an A.
Great teacher, i normally do horrible in math but he explains everything and gives at least 10 examples of every question :)
very helpful. always made sure everyone knew the material. gave little hints on how to remember things, great teacher.
Best math teacher I have ever had. Very smart guy. Explains everything in detail, gives tons of examples and life applications. You will walk away actually understanding what you learned rather than just memorizing it. I definetly recommend him if you struggle with math.
Great teacher, made math so much easier and I enjoyed attending class.
Great professor! If you are not good at math, he is definetly the professor to take. He is extremely helpful and makes everything easy to understand. Do the h.w he gives, it will be a huge help on the tests!!
The best math teacher I have ever had and I have had soom bad ones (not going to mention any names) teaches every class with enthusiasm and will help you with any question you have. Definetly recommend any student to take any of his math classes
I took Prof. Sullivan for Intermediate Algebra and College Algebra and he is a phenomenal teacher! Extremely helpful and very friendly. I just wish he taught calculus too.
he is a good teacher. but if your not good in math and it takes you longer to learn take someone else.
Not so good
I found it easy. Many people struggled. Simply put do the homework, study, and if you have the time got to tutoring once a week and you will atleast get a B.
yea right, a complete joke! not helpful, and you have to write a 5 paragraph essay as part of ur test that is only worth 10 points of the exam!! DO NOT, I repeat "DO NOT" take this professor.
IF YOU DID NOT TAKE THE PREP CLASS DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. HE OFFERS NO HELP AND MAKES STUDENTS FEEL STUPID. HE IS A JERK. PROF. BUSH IS THE BEST MATH TEACHER TAKE HER INSTEAD.
Sullivan often went off on tangents, and wasted around 50% of class. If you're good at math and miss a class it's not that bad because he reviews what he taught the next class. He was an alright teacher.
This guy is probably very nice and easy going outside of class, but in class he is a pain. He never answers questions, and if he does, he does so quickly and unthoroughly. Some people love the way he teaches though. He goes very quickly and speaks very softly. His handwriting on the board is terrible, so sit close to the front.
talks way too fast, hand writing is terrible! Always wanted to be an environmental major and thats what he should have been since that is all he talks about. Gives test and quizes on the same night, good luck studying! One person has an A, NO JOKE!
I feel like I'm in the wrong class what is he teaching English try he really does and loves teaching but he talks to fast and you well i never felt good going into the test and i am no genius but have a 3.0 so you make the call!!
i took this proffessor last year. I failed his class and had to retake it over the summer. he was awful. i agree with everyone else he talks to fast and you have a hard time getting him to answer questions. he is a nice guy out of class. i am a smart person but he really needs to slow dwn and speak english.
Nice person, not the best teacher! He talks very fast and has horrible hand-writing! He doesnt elaborate, when he is asked questions. He is all over the place (like ADD) He uses EVERY second of class time to cram as much information into as possible! If you have any other options, I would take another professor!!!....and corny jokes :(
I thought he was a good teacher. He covered everything that was on the tests and told you what would be on the test. I found all the notes i copied, which was everything, was on the test. The homework was alot but it helped you get the work done and prepare for the test's. You should be decent at math for this class. Not for the weak.
He made it really easy to understand the material. He talked fast but it wasn't hard to follow. He lets you make up tests and quizzes but losses them easy so I wouldn't recommend make-ups. He also keeps you till the last second. He definitely prepared you for the tests. I am not a Math student by any means but I passed his class.
this class was a waste of time for me but the teacher made it easy yet challenging. you have to attend every class in order to pass the test and he gets there early. this class is definitely not for the weak.
Very disappointed in the way the material was presented. He has you write an essay on asymptotes and memorize it for the test. It's worth exactly 11 points on the test.Wasted a lot of time talking about the subject of the problem, but not solving the problem with us in class.Late grading tests.Had my final exam result before the 4th test.Scattered!!
If you are looking for an easy class, this is not it!!!If you truly want to learn College Algebra, welcome to Sully's World! Yes, he is fast pased, slightly forgetful, goes off on tangent and has no MERCY! However, he knows his F of X! Listen and learn or face the consequences
He is very fast with lectures. It's hard to follow him during lecture b/c he doen't stop and tell the students that he just jump to another chapter in the book. He doesn't like to be interrupted during lecture to answer any math questions. He only answer questions after the lectures is given than you you are totaly lost.He says"If you don't pass thi
Sullivan, its an awesome teacher. he explains everything very well, he is always willing to help you and he goes the extra mile for you. yes, he makes you write an essay but in the end is only to help you out. Trust me, he knows what he is doing.Trust him and listen to him, he is very SMART and The BEST!!!!!!
he was a pretty decent teacher. i took pre calc in high school the year prior to taking the class so it was very comprehensible for me. but if i hadn't taken pre calc, i would have been extremely lost. he talks way wicked fast and does make us memorize an essay for a test the tests are exactly what he tells us in the notes. hes flexible w/ makeups.
I was not impressed with his method of delivery. He his a nice guy.I will never take him agian. I suggest Professor Bush. She Knows how to teach.
Awesome! His only flaws were that he speaks very fast and he gets opff topic. Other than that, he's a cool guy to talk to for help, and if you're good in math, you'll have no trouble!
This man is horrible he doesnt teach clearly you dont know whar he writting on the board EX. HIS THREE and his test are imposible the only way you'll pass is by reading the chapter. goodluck he also kind of boring
Great Teacher! Very Nice, goes through things quickly as to not drag on. I HATE MATH and still managed to pass with a B. Taking him again this semester.
He is a horrible professor that i have ever taken in my whole life of study. He gives essay to write for math class, which is ****.......... and that too in own words. God save students from him. I would say never and ever take class with this professor, if u r not at least average in math u r bound to fail.So i repeat never and ever take this
So he's an awesome guy great to chat with! And he is an amazing teacher. However I found his class a little difficult. He assigns homework which he gives you 5 points for so always do it. He teaches pretty well just kind of fast. I've always struggled with math though. One thing I def didn't like was that 1st day of class he said if you haven't tak
Very good instructor!! He does speak fast, but very clear and does stop for questions. I am taking him again next semester.
NO GOOD! Very hard to understand what he is trying to explain...and I agree with the other person, he makes you write an essay in a MATH class! His tests are really hard and have nothing to do with what he teaches! Not helpful AT ALL!
this class was like sticking needles in my eyes, He went too fast, and wasted valuable time with his life lessons rather than making sure the class understood a skill. I do not recommend him.
THIS MAN TEACHES 2 FAST!! HE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT THE PROFESSORS AT FSU AND HOW THEY WOULDNT PUT UP WITH THIS AND THAT WHO CARES!!! HE DON'T ANSWER QUESTION INTO AFTER THE LECTURE IF YOU DO TAKE HIS CLASS THEN U SHOULD TRY 2 ATTEND THE S.I SESSION BECAUSE THATS THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL PASS!!
DO NOT TAKE, I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE. THE SIDE AFFECTS ARE DEPRESSION, HEART ACHE AND FAILURE.I love Math but this teacher made me wanna give up. He is really fast. Nice guy but almost made me wanna give up on school. please find a different teacher. i felt lost and i FAILED :-(
HE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!!! I ALWAYS DID BAD IN MATH, BUT HE MAKES IT SO EASY!! HE GOES OVER THINGS VERY CLEARLY! IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION HE WILL EXPLAIN IT TO YOU!!!!!!! TAKE TAKE TAKE,I DON'T KNOW WHY SO MANY PEOPLE GAVE HIM BAD COMMENTS, HE IS AWESOME, YOU WILL DEFINATLEY GET AN A!
Even though I ended up withdrawing from his class, it was only because I couldn't keep up. He knows his stuff though & he will stop for questions if you ask! He does make you write an essay for a test but that made it easier for me at least! He is very helpful & reviews before every test! great teacher but you better know your stuff to keep up!
Best math teacher I've ever had. by far. I wish he taught calculus.
I believe the last three comments were desparate attempts on the professor's part to encourage peolpe to take his class. He may have had a buddy write those reviews. Goes too fast, answers minimumly, and his apethy shows. Take Bush if you want a good instructor.
HE IS FAST AND DOESN'T LIKE TO TAKE A WHOLE LOT OF TIME ON QUESTIONS, BUT IF YOU SIT IN THE FRONT AND TAKE NOTES IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL. I TOOK HIS EXPRESS CLASS AND GOT AN "A". I WOULD TAKE HIM FOR "CALC" IF HE TAUGHT IT. I CAN'T IMAGINE A BETTER PROFESSOR FOR MAC1105.....
Best math teacher I've ever had, I actually learned how to apply math to other fields. Got a B, but that was from mistakes I made on tests, not poor teaching. He goes fast, but if you put the effort in it's not terribly hard.
He's ADD without proper meds. Impossible to follow. Cannot possibly get the notes needed for tests while he's rambling so fast. Then he jumps into something way off the subject. Loves the learning channel and business stats. Tests are hard. Not good at reviewing necessary info.
Mr Sullivan is a good teacher, but dont expect him to look you in the eyes. He knows what he is talking about, and his notes and the book compliment well to prepare for tests. He has one essay on a test, but it was very easy and helped me alot on the final. he drops the lowest quiz grade and offers e.c. Overall a good teacher
the best teacher in pbcc!!!! very helpful, intelligent and professional. I learned a lot, he is very modern:> I should have paid more money for this class, really really really worth it!!!!!i wish he could teach calculus etc
I found his test very hard, especially becuase he takes off points for every thing. Even if you don't put the date on your quiz! If you do all the homework, you're good, doesn't have to be right just complete. He gives out quizes and test! And a lot of homework!
He is the best math teacher I've ever had. He is fast, but he knows how to pass all the information in such easy way that anyone can pass if they put their brain to fallow his info. Don't expect him to hold your hand!
Excellent teacher. I was out of school for 9 years and came straight into his class with no prep classes. Made it easy to follow and is very clear on whats on tests. One essay, but was no big deal. Not very personable but great teacher.
awsome teacher....
great teacher! does teacher very quickly so you cant space out in this class or you will definetly miss something. tests are very straight foward. do the homework and look over the notes before the test and you will do fine.
He's too fast, if math is not your subject don't take him. He will not take u step by step. I don't recommend him at ALL. Way too fast paced, I was not pleased with him at all.
Prof. Sullivan is one of those teachers I will never forget, but this time it's not for good reason. His biased towards certain people is evident and his teaching style while it is fast paced it is also a bit unclear! I failed his class because he conveniently forgot a conversation he had had with me... either way retook it with Bush got an A!
He is very fast paced, which I do like. Just read 1 day ahead so you are not new to the material. He will get mad if you ask a question that he already answered or if its regarding basic math concepts that you should already know from previous prereq classes like adding complex fractions and rads. His tests were very fair with a multchoice final.
I haven't taken math in 14 years, you need a good Inter-algebra, He is great teacher, if you want to learn college algebra take his class. LOVED HIM!!!!
Great professor! I would recommend him to anyone. He does speak a little fast, and his tests aren't too easy, but if you study and go to every class, you'll get a good grade. Explains everything VERY well and goes over previous lectures every class for clarity. TAKE HIM! Best math teacher I've ever had.
This was my 3rd attempt at College Algebra. I hadnt been in a math class in many years. He spoke very clearly, and I felt he covered the material very well. Very personable!
Easy teacher, very straight-forward tests. He tells you exactly whats going to be on each test. Don't skip his class, take good notes, and study and it's easy. ***Plus theres an essay on one of the tests nothing huge, he tells EXACTLY what he wants you to write in his notes.
He is an amazing Math teacher! He definitely knows his stuff! He tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests and quizzes. The only way you can't get a good grade is if you don't show up or do your homework. He is very helpful and will work with you until you understand what he's teaching. Downfall is there's a lot of homework!
Loved the teacher, but I know a lot of people hated him. He talks fast, so you may have to ask him to clarify. He knows his stuff and isn't mean, but is strict. Just pay attention and work hard, it's not a gimme class. Sit on the left side, he tends to block the board for people on the right. Would love to take him again for Pre-Calc.
I have not taken college algebra for 14 years, where i had to drop out for not keeping up with it. this teacher is the bomb. i have not opened the book or done any homework all year. he gives very clear and precise notes on board. if you take good notes and study them, you will get an A or B.
Worse math teacher I have ever had, not organized, doesn't accept questions in class
not recommended, unorganized, doesn't follow schedule, hard tests. HW has to be done or you loose grades.
the person below who said if you don't do you're homework he takes off points; OBVIOUSLY. he is the only teacher who has made me understand math, he brings it back to the elementary school level and gives visuals so that you will know what you're REALLY doing in math.
He is a great prof.
He is a great prof. He doesn't take attendance, but go to class because he tells you some question that will be in the exams. Also Go to the SI it is very helpful too. trust me you will leran a lot. work hard. do your homework
Professor Sullivan is an excellent teacher for mature students. He expects his students to have a background and does not review unless its part of the new material. If you are an independent math student. This is the teacher for you. Students who requires additional help should not take this professor.
great math teacher. wont take ANY crap tho. he starts class RIGHT on time, everytime, and goes right up until the last minute. does excellent job of teaching the material but if you dont do the HW you are screwed. no way you can learn the stuff without it. do HW and do ?s in your notes he says will be on test and you are golden. really hands out As
Professor Sullivan actually teaches. He is strict, but makes a great learning environment and is extremely fair and supportive. He does go fast, but will stop to answer questions. Got a D last time I took the class, but got a B with him. Would take him again.
He went a little fast, and wasn't totally clear when showing how to do it. Overall, he was pretty good though.
MAKES THINGS SEEM EASY BUT GOES WAY TOO FAST... THIS IS MATH AND IF YOU MISS THE SLIGHTEST LITTLE THING; YOU GET THROWN OFF... IF YOU ARE LIKE ME AND NEED EXTRA HELP AND YOUR QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED THEN THIS IS NOT THE TEACHER FOR YOU... HE KNOWS HIS STUFF BUT EXPECTS YOU TO BE AN EXPERT IN THE SUBJECT. I ONLY PASSED BECAUSE I HAD A PRIVATE TUTOR
Very good professor!!! Explains everything, he will tell you actual questions that will be on test, do not recomend to miss class. You will learn a lot. Very helpful.
Professor Sullivan is very nice and helpful. He doesn't take attendance but he pays attention to who comes to class. DO NOT miss class because most of the quizzes are from class notes. If you take really good notes and go to the SI you will get an A or a B. The SI's were amazing. MAKE SURE YOU GO :)
Excellent teacher, would def. take again
good teacher knows his stuff. he can explain well when teaching by using analogies or just breaking it down. remembers who you are if you attend classes. ONLY problem i had was his grading. took off a lot of points for simple mistakes. make sure you show ALL work. hes really strict on grading tests/quizzes in my opinion. but good teacher
If Professor Sullivan was a woman and a woman was math, I would be the child just born! I was a total dunce and use to cry doing math, THANKS to this professor on the very first day I finally got it. My first test wasn't great but a lot better. Professor Sullivan has taken that fear away and now I aim to be better!
this teacher is an okay teacher.... i mean he knows what hes doing, but very fast paced. if your not good in math id suggest you take another teacher. hes not hard... but he isnt easy.you really gotta put your time into the work if you want to pass
The man knows his stuff and can convey his knowledge clearly. I'm sorry I didn't have him for Intermediate Algebra.
Great professor. Knows his stuff. If you pay attention in class, you'll be fine. If you miss class and daydream he is not the professor for you. I loved him, best professor I've ever had!
Great professor, no BS, you do your job he will do his. Doesn't take attendance, but will give info specific to the test in class. SI is a great help, she reviews the test in the Lab the day of. I am going to take this guy for as many clooege level math classes as he teaches...
Very easy, very helpful! Makes sure his students understandand uses easy to understand methods. He doesn't go by the textbook. He tells you exactly what is going to be on the test. I passed 2 of his classes with High A's!
He is not helpful and very proud of his failure rate. He is quick to tell everyone that they will not this get right or half of you will drop his class miserable!
A good teacher. Writes with his left hand so sit on the left side of the class room. His pace is as if he were running a marathon at a 5K pace. Very fast, you have to write fast. He will answer questions yet is not likely revisit things during class. The SI is key. Go to math lab, she covers the test b4 test time. Huge help.
Professor Sullivan is a GOD!!! He knows his stuff andd can teach it well. And he is quite easy to look at!!!
The best math teacher I've ever had! Explains it thoroughly and easy to understand.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! I TOOK HIM LAST SEMESTER...AND MERRY CHRISTMAS! I GOT A D IN THE CLASS! IF YOU ARE TAKING THIS CLASS THOUGH..MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE STUDY SESSIONS WITH PATTY..SHE WILL GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEEED TO PASS THE CLASS. HE TEACHES SO FAST THAT I DIDNT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING HE WAS DOING...AND BY THE WAY YOU HAVE WRITE AN ESSAY TOO...FUN
HE IS HORRIBLE! yes he knows his stuff but like someone has stated earlier he prides on how many people gets questions wrong on his test! DO NOT TAKE HIM unless you can keep up with speedy gonzoles [however you spell his name!] all in all good teacher he just sucks REALLY BAD!
HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.... I LOVED ALL HIS CLASSES AND IM CURRENTLY TAKING ONE... TOO BAD HE DOESNT TEACH MORE!... HE'S FAST PACED AND REALLY DOWN TO EARTH!.. JUST GO TO THE LAB IF YOU NEED HELP.. HE SPOON FEEDS EVERYTHING THOUGH... GIVES REALLY GOOD PRACTICE HW AND IS OBVIOUS WITH HINTS IN CLASS... (FOR TESTS AND QUIZZES)
PAINFUL. I got C (fall 2010)I lived in LAB. Have A in Prof Bush."HE IS HARD",not fair to everyone, some favoritism. Problem 1: there are no ptc tests to "try" HIS tests. Lab can't always help. Ptc tests available for all other students(1033). Problem2 doesn't give quiz back to review often. HOW R we 2 learn? Take Bush, work hard, get an A.
If you are in H.S. strong in math, (attend EVERY class, do hw & more) this may be a good match for you. The lab is available to help you (for free). Friday night was not a good time for class for ME! Had a D most of semester, then pulled out a C. I wanted to pass & set my mind on it.
he is rude. first day of class basically tells you, you will fail! and if you think your gonna fail then leave now. moves way to qucikly. you cant ask questions because it makes him mad and if you do ask a question he makes you feel dumb and puts you down in front of everyone! i would never recommend him.
Best. Math. Professor. Ever.
To be honest, I did feel a bit de-motivated at the beginning of his class because he does state that allot of ppl fail his class, which is true. But he is a good teacher, and he gives out easy answers to tests in class, so show up!!! He is a tough love teacher, so tough it out!
He's a very fast teacher so sit close to the board and concentrate. The first time I took him, I felt overwhelmed bc I'm not strong at math so I took withdrew and only took his his class for the summer. I ended up with a B, bc I didn't study much. Only compliant is he gives a essay IN a test, but he tells you word for word what to write.
He is very anal about every, and he doesn't like to be interuptted for questions durning class. You have to see the CSI for EVERYTHING ack!
He was amazing! He's an amazing professor who really cares about students understanding the concepts used in the course. He goes fast at times but if you pay attention everything is clearly stated. Never any surprises on exams or quizzes. Don't skip - you'll miss easy points on exams stated in class.
He is an awesome professor. If math is a subject that is hard for you to understand, this is the class to take. He breaks the material down for you!! He has a great attitude, and is always willign to ask questions. He makes the class literally to where you can pass. He sometimes even let us out early.
LOVE this teacher. I will be taking him for my future math courses. He seems frightening at first with his expectations but he walks you right through the course. He even tells you what formulas to highlight and study because they will be on the test.
Nice guy, knows his stuff well. But he wont give out A's or B's or C's...borderline D like 69.. he'll give you the D instead of giveing u .5 points to a C to pass the class..he says he "sees" who comes to class and etc but he really doesnt take into consideration who actually is giving their all. 4 tests,1 final,4 quizes, and homework counts
easy only if you attend ever class..gives answers for test during class
Decent teacher, but very strict grader. Quizzes very easy but tests wicked hard. Nice guy, but will not give any slack. Gave us formulas the entire semester during tests and then surprised us with none for the final. I suggest taking anybody else, even an online class would be better because Sullivan goes so fast.
if you arent good w math dont take him, he is smart and knows math well but does not teach it ho ou would expect. he seems annoyed if you ask questions. you have to try very hard to get an A NOT and easy A at all. I think the majority of the class got a C. only like 2 or 3 got an A.. you need to go to the SI every timein order to get a decent grade
If you attend class and pay attention you will do well. If you care, he cares. He breaks it down to simple math. He encourages using the SLC. He is a hard teacher but very fair. He also hands out extra credit for points on the harder tests.
DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY! When he explains a concept he feels he has to do some type of word problem to relate to each major (which extends the class an extra hour). He takes off points if you dont write everything out even if the problem is calculator work which prevented me from getting an A. If youre not good at math DO NOT take him.
Sullivan's a funny guy. You can tell he's down to Earth and really loves his job. He'll definitely like you more if you write out each step and label everything. He uses analogies to make math easier and gave out extra credit towards the end of the course to help you out. Personally, I have no complaints. I wish I still had him as a math professor.
BAD TEACHER!. If you struggle with math or arent good with testing he def. isint for you. He does not give any breaks and only counts your homework as 5% of grade, and there is alot.First thing he tells you is that only 50% of people or less even pass his class. Not supportive and very anoying and boring voice and method of teaching. WORST TEACHER
The guy is tough, but fair. You have to pay attention in class or you will fail. He hands out extracredit on tests that he knows are hard. I took him for two seperate math courses. I'd take him again, but thankfully, I am done with math.
Prof Sullivan is tough but a nice guy and a good teacher. If you are going onto higher math you should take him, but if you have a non math related major avoid at all costs. I was a deans list student going in and highest i could manage on his tests was a 76: after 8 hours of study/math lab. He has a 50% failure rating for a reason, be advised!
Good teacher, but very hard tests to take. Must take notes to answer the eassy questions and fill in the blanks. Must show work and do problems his way or they are wrong. 40% pass rate!!! DO NOT TAKE IF YOU SUCK IN MATH OR DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO STUDY 6-10 HOURS PER WEEK. This is my second time taking him. If you bomb on one test you are done!
Sullivan means well but if you dont get math he is NOTthe teacher for you. He does not interact with the class well and writes entirely too fast, can barely understand his hand writing.you have to spend a lot of time in the math lab
He's a really GOOD professor. If you REALLY want to learn, you should take class with him. If you just want to pass a class, don't take it. I'm tanking Combo Class (MAT1033 & MAC1105) and I really like him.
If you attend class, pay attention and do the homework you will be fine. He shows how the math you learned in school relates to what you are learning now.
Pretty tough class, but I am really bad at math so it's always a struggle with these courses. The professor is good, a little fast but he is very nice and helps you the best he can. You are definatly gonna need to spend time in the math lab though!
Great teacher. He's totally right when he said to do homework, attend to class and go to the Math lab whenever possible. The guy knows what is all about. I got an A but I burned my a.. off doing everything he said, and I have family, f/t job and school. Just figure. Do the sacrifice for your own benefit
I randomly chose this professor, and it was the best choice I’ve made so far in my college career. He is very knowledgeable, always on time, loves to teach, and extremely clear on what he expects of you as a student. As long as you stay focused, do the homework, and ask questions…you will do well in his class!
He means well but if you are not good in math his is not for you. His answers are never clear and he often answers questions with questions.
Prof. Sullivan is great if you have a strength in Algebra. If you take pre-algebra beforehand, you will do much better. He teaches at a fast pace, but he is thorough. Graded HW assignments help you get a higher grade. If you know your stuff and come to class prepared to learn, this is your guy.
Good teacher overall for intermidiate Algebra will be taking him for College Algebra also. A little odd but upfront with what will be on the test. The math lab preps you with a refresher of what will be on the test and i highly recommend it. Homework is checked but only worth 5% of the overall grade.
Do not take if you struggle with math. Moves too fast and has a unapproachable personality .Does not even give you eye contact when speaking . Pass on this professor .
He is a real a real professor if you are lazy and don't like to put out, look else where, if you want to learn take his classes,he is hard but fair, if you put out he will help you, if you don't have what it takes for math you will find out.
Thorough coverage of topics, always available for help. I've never been good with math, had a pretty good go of it in this class, mostly because the prof understands how to communicate the topics.
This prof. will set you up for success in higher math courses. Thanks to him, my math skills have never been stronger. His class is intense and requires dedication. If you go to every class and the math lab, it is likely you will pass. Test are generated from mostly examples he does on the board. Strong prior math skills a must for best results.
Prof Clark is very easy to understand and straight to the point. If you pay attention in class and do homework you will be pretty much set. Test are based on what he goes over in class and the hw. Piece of cake if you ask me, as long as you are not lazy
I loved this professor. he is clear, talk a little too much but his explanations go more than just how you calculate something. he explane how you use math in the daily life what makes the undertanding much easier. if you do the homeworks, be in class and pay attention you will be ok.
AWESOME TEACHER.
Professor Sullivan is a good professor and is very clear, concise and to the point. He's not for everybody personality wise, but he does try to be fair. I passed his class with a B but there is no way to get around all the work that comes with this course. it doesn't matter which professor you have. Overall he's a good guy and tries to help you.
Proffessor Sullivan is an excellent teacher. Math is always a complicated subject for most, but as long as people stop complaining about teh homwework and actually do it, you are guarantee to get a B+ to A+. Proffessor Sullivan also goes the extra mile by explaining all his classes in the most basic way so everybody can understand.
do not take his classes if math is not your forte. if math comes easy to you, then he is a good professor. he is wierd and hard to talk to and approach
He's a great teacher who is very helpful if you don't already understand math. He explains each concept thoroughly even though he may act like he's rushing. Remember to do the homework because it wil be your best friend for the quizzes and tests.
Great professor. Applies what you learn to real life and goes above and beyond to make sure his students are understanding him. I will take him for college algebra for sure.
Gives really good notes; doesn't collect homework until test day. Applies hard questions to real life, and makes Word Problems simple.
HE is Thee best Math professor iv'e had. after going thru 2 Horrible teachers, I ca finally say I UNDERSTAND MATH !
Moves on to new chapters and lessons before you can even completly understand last one. He trys to make it easy. Talks so much. But very nice.
he is really great at teaching. he knows exactly how to teach the material because he knows what its like to take that class. he often states that he took the class over bc and failed it. now hes teaching it in a way that helps everyone understand. hes also a really nice guy which makes the class enjoyable.
hes great! i would take him again, his he does move kinda fast, but its deff needed in this type of class where some problems can be kinda long. but he will always stop and answer questions. he will deff help you understand math and how it is everywhere.
Great professor, go to class and take your notes, and do your homework!!! some students are lazy, don't be, participate and you should not have a problem :) Good luck "You know more than you think"
A tough fast paced class. He understands the difficulty level and tries to explain in everyday terms to help us understand each new concept. He breaks each problem down into simple steps that are easy to follow. If you attend class, take notes, and review the notes before the tests, you should succeed. Test questions come directly from notes.
If you show up you will pass. It's tough. Come in 5 minutes early and sit in the front row, it helps. He starts right on time so DONT BE LATE! Never miss this class unless it's a true emergency- seriously.
Professor Sullivan is by far the best collegeintermediate algebra teacher. I was always horrible in math because I never understood and he makes everything so clear! He takes the time to teach you. He can be fast but will answer any questions. Do not miss class or you will get lost. Do the homework, get an A. He tells you what is on testsquiz
Professor Sullivan is an Amazing teacher. I really struggle with math a lot and he does anything in his power to help you succeed as long as you are putting the effort in. His lectures are very thorough and he tells you what will be on the tests and quizzes. Literally almost the same problems we do in lecture are on the tests. Great guy!
professor sullivan is a great teacher , he breaks the most complicated looking prolems down to simple terms where you understand. Ive always struggled with math and he makes math fun and easy!
Mixed feeling about him. He does not answer questions during lectures (only after). He tells you EXACTLY what is going to be on the test and quizzes so you won't be surprised. He gives back graded assignments ULTRA late. He assigns MOUNTAINS of homework worth only 5 points, but there's so many that if you neglect them you drop a letter grade.
Such a great professor!! He is very thorough in his explanations and gave a ton of examples. Basically gives you the test questions! Math classes are never my forte but with him as a professor I got an A!
He tells you what is basically going to be on the tests and quizzes (same problems with minor tweaks). He walks you through each problem step by step. He's quick to slash off points if you make minor mistakes and those points do add up. He assigns TRUCKLOADS of homework. The Student Solutions Manual or Instructor's edition is essential to passing
worst teacher ever if u not good in math, then u need another teacher
Gives hint on tests and quizzes but not very lenient in his marking. Passionate about maths.
He tells you exactly what to study and what will be on the test. He gives plenty of breaks throughout the class but expect to stay there the entire time. He blows through the lecture pretty quick but always has his back turned to the class so it's hard to ask questions without interrupting him. Nonetheless he still wants to help.
HANDS DOWN THE BEST MATH TEACHER AT PBSC TAKE HIM!!!!! I'm terrible at math but Professor Sullivan makes it seem so easy!! Tells you exactly what's going to be on all the test and quizzes and gives extra credit!! I STRONGLY recommend!!!
Listen, if there was EVER a good math teacher, he's it. Super, super nice guy, always willing to help. There's 5 tests and a final, he literally gives you ALL test questions during lectures, so try not to skip class. I'm horrible in math and i passed with a B. He keeps you the full class, but its a comfortable environment with a really nice teacher
So being honest, I failed, BUT THAT WAS MY FAULT. This dude's a great teacher. Like he makes everything clear, & goes over every single step in a problem (not like others who skip explaining bc they assume you the material). The only con is his tendency to repeat "If you're a business major/For those of you going into..." you'll know what i mean.
He's an awesome teacher but honestly the math lab was my home after the first test! If you aren't an auditory learner you better study HARD. He does give the test questions pretty much word for word but if you don't do it exactly like the notes you're screwed! He's not the easiest but surely not the worst. STUDY FROM THE NOTES NOT THE BOOK!!!
Amazing Professor. Explains everything to the basis and tells you where you will actually use it. I would have given all fives because he is such a great professor but you must put the work in. It doesn't matter how well he breaks the info down if you don't put in the time to learn it. If you don't understand his lectures you will probly never pass
He is the most fantastic math professor i have ever had. Completely understanding and clear. If you paid cash to take math take him and you will earn back everything you paid for highly recommended.
Poor lextures and does not simplify math. Would not take again. He is extremely all over the place.
Professor Clark was the worst math teacher I ever had. He goes extremely fast and expect you to know everything. whenever you ask him for help he makes you feel stupid. I would never reccomend anyone to take his class.
Professor Sullivan knows how to teach algebra. He is a fantastic teacher and thanks to his help, I was able to get a decent grade and I actually understood what I was doing. Highly recommended.
Wouldn't consider myself the best at math, but regardless Professor Sullivan is a hard professor! Great guy though.
This professor knows his stuff, however, he does give a lot of homework. I took him for summer which is an express class, and me personally, would not recommend him for summer, but for a longer semester such as fall or spring. One thing for sure if he says something is going to be on the test, trust and believe it is going to be on the test.
He goes over every single question that's going to be on the tests and quizzes word for word. He respects his students and knows exactly how to get his point across. Only downside is that he tends to ramble on about unimportant things.
What he says will be on the tests/quizzes WILL be on them. He doesn't take attendance but it makes it a way easier class if you show up. I've never passed a math class before, but he teaches very well and I felt confident going into every test. The best math teacher I've come across and I highly recommend him if you've struggled in the past.
Prof Sullivan is a great teacher. I had him for MAT1033c & MAC1105. I hadn't had a math class in almost 10 years, but did very well in both. GO TO CLASS! He lays out exactly what is going to be on the tests/quizzes during class. The classes weren't easy by any means, but he cares and wants everyone to do well. Great guy!
really good teacher, goes a little fast sometimes. A lot of homework but it is easy work. I had an A the whole class but the exam was really hard so it brought me to a b.
Professor Sullivan is the best math teacher I have took in years. Everything on the quizzes and tests is straight from the notes you take in class and nothing is new. Don't skip class and pay attention. Do the HW and you'll get a B or higher.
WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD.
Professor Sullivan is a great teacher but his teaching style is VERY fast paced. He does not slow down. So if you are one to easily fall behind or struggle in math I would not recommend you take him. But if you are confident in math, just show up, do the assignments and homework you should be fine. Unfortunately for me, I was one of the slow paced.
Moves very quickly so make sure you are paying attention and don't skip class. There's a lot of homework, but I don't mind it because it helps me practice. Clearly tells you exactly what's going to be on every single test and quiz, make sure you take NOTES! I'm not very good at math, but he breaks things down.
This was by far the best teacher I've ever had (not to mention best math teacher). He used up every single minute of class and went fast too so don't be expecting to leave early (or come late). He's very passionate about teaching and you WILL learn. There's 1 paper, 4 tests, a final, and lots of useful homework. THIS IS THE BEST MATH PROFESSOR.
I 3 Him. He is a nice professor who cares about students and is very helpful. He teaches math in a very understandable and comprehensive way, and tells you what will be on test and quizzes (but he does go kinda fast). I suck at math but he helped me understand it a little more.
Professor Sullivan really is a great teacher who is very knowledgeable. He is able to break down the material into simple parts so even the most novice math student can understand. He tells you exactly what's going to be on his quizzes/tests. TAKE NOTES AND PAY ATTENTION IN LECTURE!
would not recommend unless your a mathematician. he talks to us like were all business and science major, and paints a bleak picture of the world. "this is reality"
I took P Sull during the Fall 2016 Semester. He tells you what is on every quiz and test and how many points each question is worth. If you skip class, you will miss out since there are no reviews prior to tests. He readily meets with students after class if they need help. There is a lot of MYMATHLAB homework, which is actually beneficial.
Professor Sullivan is such a sweet guy who is very passionate about math-- however this class is not for someone who struggles with math. His teaching style is very fast paced and he isn't too well with answering questions if you don't understand. I taught myself throughout the whole semester , ended with a 68% and now have to re-take the class.
Professor Sullivan was a good teacher, but moved very quickly through the lessons. If you doze off for more than 2 minutes, you'll be completely lost. A lot of homework but if you do it all you'll do well in the class. Tests are basically verbatim from the lessons.
Professor Sullivan is rude and condescending. He introduces the class by telling everyone about how they will fail. Almost every class like clockwork the pass/fail rate of Survey Calc gets brought up as though that is somehow relevant. Ideas he introduces are prefaced with "this is uncharted territory" as though I did not take any high school math.
He frequently mentions the pass/fail rate of his exams, which I thought was counter intuitive to encouragement, and caused reason a bit of intimidation. However, he is a great teacher. He will thoroughly explain each step, and literally told us what type of problems would be on the exams. If you come to class, and study a bit, you will do well.
He truly wants to help you pass. Yes he may have annoying sayings but they stick in your head. He does test heavy but he tells you exactly what is on it. If you do not pass his tests you clearly didn't put effort or pay attention. His tests are exactly like his examples.
He teaches fast, but in a way in which I understood him. His notes are exactly what will be on the test, but he doesn't answer questions very well. Study from the notes and worksheets he gives out and you should pass
He's okay. He talks fast and paces back and forth excessively like he cant sit still. But his examples from the notes are exactly what is on the tests. I wish I knew that sooner. He grades the homework so if you don't complete it you don't get full credit. First math class I have struggled to pass. But he isn't a bad guy just grades tough.
This teacher is very fast paced. If you are not good in math do not take him. You will have to teach yourself for the most part and he is a very tough grader.
No math lab. H.W. from the text but not graded for right answers. READ THE ENTIRE SYLLABUS. Be ready! he is a fast-paced teacher. Don't interrupt with questions during his lectures. Tells you what will come on quiz & tests w/h 80% accuracy. Do not take his class if you are like me & need extra help. He lacks patience. I lost my confidence.
Great class it was an express course. if you do the homework and study you will pass I barely studied so I failed by I am taking him again hopefully I pass this time. College algebra is not an easy course at all if you're bad at math.
He makes zero eye contact, which is key if you're a caring Prof. who wants to make sure what you're teaching resonates. Minimal encouragement reminding us that only will 50% pass. Paces back & forth excessively. If you are already a genius in math & don't mind all those things, this is the class for you.
Math was my weakest subject and hands-down my least favorite. His class is very difficult because of the amount of online homework, but he explains the how's and why's of every type of math equation. Professor Sullivan made all the concepts and rules easy to understand and for the first time I passed a math class with an A. Will take again!!
I took Sullivan for a 6 week course. He can teach the material, but the negatives outweigh the positives. fast pace with material, very bad with giving back grades (no blackboard), heavy workload (18 worksheets 5 test, 5 quizzes, my math lab, final) incorrect due dates for mymath lab which set us back 4 weeks and he even lost my final and homework.
Overall he was a good teacher in my opinion. He literally tells you the exact problems that are on the test. If you go to class and listen you should pass with a c or higher. If you don't get at least a C in his class that is nobody fault but yours because he literally says "test question" and its on the test.
He's really straightforward. Great lectures!
Gives a lot of homework, you have to show up to class to pass or else you will be lost. He literally tells you what exact problems will be on the test and how many points they will be worth. Just take really good notes and study. If you're not strong at math do not take him he is very fast. (drops lowest quiz grade and bumps your grade 1%)
He was horrible I do not recommend. He is a very thokgh grader. Very tough to work with. Not flexible. Hard to reach outside of class. Over 50% or students fail his class each semester. Save yourself the struggle and take someone else.
He is not very nice. On the first day of class he lets everyone know that less than 50% of the class will fail. He does not want you to pass. He will go out of his way to make you fail. Doesnt make any eye contact with students. Classes seem like a script that he is just doing in his mind zero interaction. You canteven ask questions SAVE YOURSELF
Does not help students with anything! Absolutely zero eye contact. It bothered me that we werent able to ask questions its not that you arent allowed to ask questions you are but he just goes so fast and doesnt check with the class to see if theyre understanding the material so theres no room for questions. STAY AWAY FROM CLARK!!!!!!!
Makes you buy the book. You dont use the book. The code is way cheaper so just get the code from the website. Always walks out of class and comes back in like 10 minutes later. I truly dont think he cares if the students pass its kind of sad. I dont recommend you taking there are so many good teachers out there. He is a well known for failing.
More than 50% of you will fail this class
very tough grader
tough grader
Horrible just absolutely horrible
This professor speeds through his lectures with his back faced to the class. Due to this, you will not have the opportunity to ask questions. All homework was completed out of the textbook. He listed MyMathLab in his syllabus, but on day one, he said we will not be using it. He does not take attendance; however, if you skip, you will fail tests.
This is a tough class, but he is a good teacher. He explains every thing and explains why you need it moving forward into more advanced classes. Get to class on time because from the second the class start until the second class ends you need to be taking notes. He is extremely fast but it makes sense. No surprises on tests he lets you know ahead.
Professor Sullivan was a very nice professor, but he is somewhat demoralizing. He repeatedly told us that half of us would fail, & was a tough grader, taking off points if the math was right but wasnt done the way he wanted it. If you show up to class and take good notes, youll be fine because most test questions are pretty close to the notes.
I've taken him recently & he does answer questions. He starts from the beginning of class & there is a lot of homework but it's all due on test day when you walk in. He's very nice & explains thoroughly and requires work to be shown for credit. 4 hw, 4 tests, and 4 quiz grades (drop lowest grade).
just do not take him. If youre reading this ... i promise you just listen and do not take this professor. He tells you the first day of class that you will fail and he didnt lie bc everyone expect like 3 people passed in my class.
Excellent math professor; yes, he's direct about the difficulty, but it's a healthy dose of realism reg. courses. Homework is more for studying and you won't sink yourself attempting to learn. Tests are fair, (he even discusses near word-for-word the toughest questions,) and realistically weighted. Highly recommended if you're serious student.
He knows how to teach but spends 0 extra time helping you. If you aren't amazing at math already then I wouldn't advise taking him. Lots of online homework, worksheets, and if you miss class you won't pass. It seemed as though he is over working himself by teaching too many of the same classes per semester resulting in a lower quality performance.
Sullivan is a good college algebra but he is a very fast paced professor. You must show ALL your work on assignments or else you will fail his class no joke. If you're strong at math and don't mind showing your work then you should be able to get an A.
Seems to care more about being the 'tough' Professor than caring about whether students learn. He seems to enjoy failing people or intimidating students into withdrawing. His focus is clearly on himself and not his students. DO NOT put yourself through the misery of taking him. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
don't take him if you arent good at math to begin with. He has good techniques but isn't good if you don't understand math. He is a good professor to take if you are majoring in Mathematics. He tells you whats on the tests, he will not give you a study guide or a practice test. He makes you work for the grade. if you skip, you will be lost
This was by far the worst teacher I took. I had to retake college algebra over the summer because I failed his class. I am an A student when it comes to math ,so failing his class was unbelievable. He talks way too fast, very tough grader, if you aren't a genius , you will not pass. I took rose wilson over the summer and passed with an A
if you wanna be up late every night studying and going to the math lab to understand, take him
Absolutely the worst professor I've ever taken, and I've had my share of pretty bad ones might I add. He takes the cake by far. Seems as if he prides himself on being "the tough professor". Atleast 70 percent of my class failed/dropped the course. I barely made a "c". Long hrs in the math lab, which I got "0" credit for. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!!
Just dont take him. Im surprised to even see him get some good reviews because he is honestly the worst. He tells you the first day of class you arent going to pass! So save yourself the money and trouble and just dont take him. I dont know how hes still teaching at pbsc
Tough grader, so much homework. He does not make eye contact. Ironic that he teaches to approach math in a nonrobotic way yet teaches like one. Never gives an opportunity for help or questions; negatives of professor outweigh the positives. First class tells students they won't pass and almost takes pride in their failure. I took his 6 week course.
I want to die everytime I think about his horrible class. He acts like that class is the only thing students have going on in their lives and he goes over the easy things a thousand times and skips over the hard parts and makes u learn a bunch of different stupid formulas that solve the same thing. i cant wait till summer is over cause of his class
You need to have a good understanding of math before taking this class. He doesn't assist or really seem as if he cares about students success. You'll have to spend a lot of time in the math lab and never miss a beat. His quizzes and tests basically have to be done the way he taught you or you wont pass; even if you get the answer right.
I took this class as dual enrollment and is very similar to high school algebra 2. 4 tests and 4 quizzes the entire semester and he drops the lowest quiz grade. Nice guy but a little boring.
He barely teaches the material in order for the entire class to understand. If one student understands he won't ask if there are any further concerns or questions. He will move on to the next problem quickly, and expect the math lab to magically make you a math wizard. Don't miss a class, because from that point on it will be confusing!
Hes terrible never taking him again. He literally bashed us every class telling us we werent gonna make it. Just ridiculous.
This professor is NOT accessible outside of class hours, refuses to use blackboard, and does not respond to emails, so if you want a professor who is tech savvy or will listen to you this is not for you. You can't leave class early because you'll miss vital information. His tests are VERY specific but the homework has nothing to do with his tests.
He is a terrible professor he is extremely hard and goes so fast you can't even understand what he's saying half the time. I go to UF and am a finance major and I still believe that he is one of the hardest professors that I have ever had. And this is BASIC MATH he should definitely change his teaching style.
It was his way or the high way. On test you have to follow his steps to get full points. You have to show up and take notes because its exactly how you have to do it on the test. The final is an exam thats nothing like the others tests he gave. Its the end of the semester and I still dont know my grade and its now unavailable on blackboard.
PROS: He simplifies the material, he gives you the text/quiz questions, fast grader, balanced grading, plenty of extra credit, allows make up of tests w/ doctor's note at end of semester - CONS: He goes at like 10000 mph in lecture, no room to ask Q's, barely looks at you in the eyes lol - TBH if you show up and write everything down, you get A
Prof Sullivan is honest and very good at teaching math. His goal is to help you pass his class but you MUST put in the work. He WILL prepare you for your next algebra class. You need to commit to going to class and focusing while he is teaching. He is patient and breaks things down to help you better understand the topic at hand. Would take again
This professor is by far one of the worst math professors Ive ever gotten. He is very good during lectures and explains everything well but he is terrible with the mathlab grading and doesnt communicate with you well. I had to drop my course because I was getting 0s for grades I got As on and my overall score was a zero so I couldnt allow that.
Prof Sullivan is a very energetic guy and yes, he does go through topics kinda quickly. But if you attend, participate and take notes, you should be okay. I took him twice, passed, and never had issues. He doesn't really respond to emails much and he's not really into blackboard but he is improving on his BB usage from what I noticed this class
Decent professor but teaches way to fast and has horrible handwriting. Doesn't answer many questions at all just keeps speaking no matter what. Does not respond to emails and if he does he changes the topic. Would not recommend to anyone.
He is an excellent professor.... but nothing for free, he doesnt grade assistance or participation there is not way to participate.... he knows his subject, take notes, and ask questions at the end because he doesnt like to be interrupted.... but do question he is able to answer them... you can be rock star In math with him ... practice ...
Good just a lot of online work
Your entire grade comes out of Mymathlab. He gives a lot of homework for each chapter which takes a long time to complete and doesn't even teach some of the homework. He doesn't review for any test or even the final. He just told us to review the main ideas of each chapter which does not help at all. His test are also hard. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Do not take this professor. He never replies to emails and feels like an audio recorder playing. Even if you do your assignment on time, he will still give you 0%. During class, he does not allow students to speak or ask questions; instead, he speaks nonstop. The tests are difficult, and the homework is long. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR AGAIN.
He is a nice guy who does try to work with you however his teaching style is awful. He loves math however helping people understand it isnt his thing. Just dont take him
Most people did not like him; however, I noticed that if you respond during class and show that youre participating, he would respect you more. I did all the work and I barely made a B. Hes a really tough grader but he just wants you to be prepared for future classes. He is very good at teaching lectures and Ill definitely give him that
Very nice guy and energetic. He talks way too fast and doesn't take the time to thoroughly explain the problem or equation. Very tough grader it's either his way or you do not receive any credit for your work. Writes really small on rhe board. Very challenging to take notes
Good professor with sharp knowledge on his side, will teach you not only the minimum for the course, but link to the higher course material to make you feel comfortable in the math.
Not too fond of the Profs teaching style. No in-class review or handouts for quizzes or tests, so I def recommend making it to class on time and taking detailed notes. As he teaches he will mention "Oh this is on the quiz or test" Make note of that so u can review it. He gives a 75-question Final review when there are 30 questions on the exam.
Do not recommend taking! Lectures the whole time non stop, talks way too fast, works on more than one problem at a time which is very confusing! You are so focused on writing the notes and problems that you can barely focus on learning if you ask him a questions he gives you a quick response only. Tons of homework and no extra credit!
Literally does not teach. Just goes over questions QUICKLY like if we our reviewing without actually breaking down the material. Doesn't ask for student feedback at all if we understand, if we need more examples, or if we need more help. I regret taking this course with him:(
Avoid this professor at all costs especially if youre looking to take the class online
I think Professor Sullivan was a pretty good Professor. He does talk fast and he lectures a lot, but I was able to keep up with him. He always told us exactly what was going to be on tests and quizzes. I felt that he did care about our success. The best things to do to pass is pay attention, write down everything he does, study, and visit the SLC.
Great guy but really all over the place. Does multiple problems on the board at once and goes very fast. Homework on accesspearson has nothing to do with what we learned in class. Constantly changed quiz and tests dates on the actual day of. Very unorganized unfortunately. He's very passionate about teaching though. Failed a lot of people.
Always told us what would be on tests and quizzes. I reviewed homework, memorized it the day before tests. DON'T fail the first test, recovery would be tough-this test had equations he solved in class & HW on it. The other exams are easy study the HW for those tests, since I did bad on the 1st test it required consistent effort.
Awful!!!!
DO NOT REGISTER WITH THIS PROFESSOR. He is the worst! He does not give study guides for his tests or the final. I basically taught myself the whole class through MML and managed to pass with a C.
If you need help in Math, do NOT register for his class. He talks all class, very fast and only stops for a break. If you email him, good luck if you get a quick response or even an answer to your question when he does answer you back. He does not give any type of study guides for test and you cannot use any notes for the test.
He is very helpful and passionate about what he teaches. May come off as harsh but just being honest with students. Would take again if he taught higher math courses
Professor Sullivan's class is challenging, but using unstuckstudy ai and the free textbook can really help. Attend lectures, take good notes, and stay on top of the homework - it's a lot of work, but doable with some effort.
no extra credit, talks really fast. But he is a nice person overall not an amazing teacher. I wouldn't recommend
He is a passionate professor and down-to-earth but he isn't super great at teaching. Speaks too fast and skims over problems— takes up the whole class just lecturing. There is no in-class review and he gives out a lot of homework. Though, he does let you know what questions are expected on his tests/quizzes. You'll have to do things his way only.
This professor is awful at teaching. He solves 3+ problems at the same time on the board and is extremely chaotic. Do not take his class unless you know you can easily do math levels ahead of what you are taking. He only marks you right on tests when you do it “his way”. He has a test/quiz nearly every single class.
Very rude when it comes to personal matters could care less if you are trying to make up the work, teaches for himself and mainly talks about his experience as a math student when he is the teacher now if he is wrong, he will make it look like he is right I DONT RECCOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR
This is my second time taking this professor as he was the only "decent" math professor. He's too passionate and disorganized. Will make many mistakes on test and quizzes just for you to redo them on the next one. Pushes back test and quizzes while teaching new material that has nothing to do with the course. Can't make up anything even if you try.
He tries to relate to the students in his class, perhaps a bit too much. He was honest and passionate, but it is very easy to fall behind. If you are someone who is able to keep up and practice, I can see him being great. BE CAUTIOUS ON TEXTBOOK HOMEWORK, all of it is due at the end of the semester at once, do not let it catch up with you.
I didnt enjoy his class, im not the kind of person who rates professors, but he'll make it really hard, there are 4 quizzes, 4exams, lot of homework, they're all done online and it'll take you over 3hrs to get it done, I always consider myself good at math, and I failed this class!!, the professor knows how to explain but he's very messy!
An amazing professor. I understand the bad reviews but he tells you exactly what you need to know on the test. His goal is to try to make sure students know HOW to solve math problems. One of the biggest advice he gave in class was that everything has an opposite. Remember that. I would definitely take him without a second thought if he taught calc
He moves fast asf but rarely finishes a lesson, and the final wasn't even what it said it would be on canvas. Don't do it.
This class was extremely difficult… We start off with a full class, then the next class half the class was gone, and then the following week it was almost empty… I think because he failed the class 3 times, it's like he want everyone to fail… He teach so fast you'll be confused by the first class… and you have a test every class!!!!
