Lectures are enjoyable to listen to and interesting. Only class i never skip
Nice guy, but really, really boring.
Needs to be a little more organized, but other than that, Uncle Claude is great!! Loved the class!
Dr. Eilers is a joy to listen to. The one class I make sure to arrive early to
All I have to say is Latin Elvis! Amazing performance, worth taking the course just to see that! Awesome Prof!
Love him! He is the best! He sang an Elvis song to the class, then got all of us to join in! What a great prof! I never skipped his lectures!
He's very funny. Though he gets off topic alot, but that's oaky. I enjoy it very much so.
An AWESOME Prof! A cool guy and really helpful... I now understand the past 13 years of school thanks to this guy! Keep up the good work! (Hey Eilers, I hope this helps out your chili pepper situation.) ~MA~
He's really not boring. You can tell that he enjoys what he talks about and that in turn makes me interested in what he has to say. I would be lost in this course if it weren't for his lectures so I try not to miss them. A great prof!
Cool guy, fun to listen to, definite pepper material. Go Eilers, go!
Overly sensitive to student opinion... which is different from the norm. Generous and open to questions, his class has a nice casual feel. The "eat muffin while talking" has gotta go, but the coffee can stay.Approachable, a man of the people. An
Entertaining, enthusiastic, and interacts with the students. The environment that Eilers creates is a comfortable and democratic one. For the first time I don't feel intimidated by a professor.
My TA Chris told me to do this.I also enjoy the class very much, and I even find the professor's jokes funny.
My TA Chris told me to do this. I like his pink shirt!
what a grrrrreat prof! i really enjoy how he lectures..it's very clear and easily understandable!
Chris made me do it, but I still think you're cool.
Chris told me to do this, and he said something about a pink shirt. Great class though, and he shoots about a 50% on the jokes, which is better than most!
My t.a. Chris told me to do this and also something about a pink shirt...great lectures!
Eilers, you rock! My TA Chris Wallace told me to come on here and rate you. And I am not too sure why, but he said to say something about liking a pink shirt?! well anyways, good class!
extremely helpful - I don't know about "easy" ratings - He makes the class easy because he makes it enjoyable - tends to go off on tangents but they are not totally unrelated. Excellent professor and he obviously enjoys his profession and lectu
Chris told me to fill this out and tell you that I love his pink shirt. You're great...thanx
I stumbled upon this after hearing Dr. Eilers had "googled himself" and I wondered what would come up. Eilers rocks!
Dr. Eilers is fun because of his jokes and the way he picks on the t.as. I was really scared of him when he did the guest lecture last term, but he's awesome.
Funny prof! His jokes are funny, when u get them...cause half the time he doesn't finish and makes u figure out the rest 4 u'r self! But great prof!
He is a great prof. His lectures are very enjoyable and filled with many jokes. He has a tedency to go off on tangents. But that doesn't matter because he just so great!
Go Eilers Go!
Never thought I would ever see a Prof singing Elvis songs in Latin. Rock on Eilers! But don't quit your day job :)
Dr. Eilers is the best. Loved the Elvis, loved the exam questions about Jack Sparrow and Dire Straits. And if you read this Dr. Eilers, I'm sorry about your leafs.
Best History class yet! Didn't miss a single lecture. Dr. Eilers rekindled my interest in ancient civilizations!!

Knows his stuff inside and out. Very funny if you get his special brand of humour. Goes off on tangents, but most of the time they kind of relate. A great course with a great exam.
Was scared after his guest lecture, but Eilers is cool. Go Leafs! His style of lecturing makes for great notes, and I never missed a class. Smart, funny guy who knows his history!
Absolutly one of the BEST profs I've EVER had. SO freak'en funny! And a really honestly nice guy. I'd buy his book, but it's too expensive ^^; I only wish he taught more classes!
Seriously overrated. I found him very incoherent - I actually found myself missing Dr. George. Though intelligent, he often appears scattered. Excellent exam, though - very easy.
One word: SEXY!!!!!

The "Weimar Republic of gold stars", eh?
Good job :)
Amazing, and enthusiastic professor! Elvis in Latin by far, and hands down the best lecture! Apparantly he plays the guitar too! I say Encore!! Great lectures, I always go early to his class early. Awesome prof!!
great jokes, makes learning engaging
Funny prof, makes you want to not miss lectures (just to see what he'll do, hard marker though, and stutters really bad, a 10 mintue lecture takes 50 minutes. Slow paced class, so it's easy to get notes but you don't get alot of information
Amazing prof, i agree with the comments about the lectures, but his sense of humour makes up for it. His exam wasn't bad at all. When he says go to tutorial HE MEANS IT!
Off topic all the time. Not interesting, stutters to the point its distracting. Hard midterms/exams. He did give us good essay topics with bibliographies. He never covers all the material. Slow, and boring class. Not approachable, very scary. His slides suck, they give you way to much info, and not enough of what’s important.
very helpful...and funny
Lots of memorization, but really easy.
Suuuppeerraabiimmmuusss
Hilarious, needs to be more fluid with transition between material. Good Job!
Dr. Eilers is one of the few profs I actually enjoyed this year. Funny, and keeps what is usually a boring topic entertaining. LOVE HIM!
He is often off topic. He has a "no talking during lecture" rule. I got kicked out of class because the person beside me kicked my foot, they said sorry, and I said "that's okay". He yells at people for being late or leaving early, but he was late/left early twice a month. Tests/exams not difficult (if you can follow his lectures)
i LOVED this prof. he was hillarious, and taught in a way that made the material engaging. thumbs wayyy up! ;)
Overall enjoyed him. He makes the information interesting and has a good sense of humour. Notes are difficult due to the fact that his slides do not use titles and he jumps between topics a lot. Definitely make sure to attend lectures since it is where most of the exam questions come from.
"Jesus?" Dr. Eilers is hilarious and a great prof. He will make fun of you if you come late to Latin, but he's very approachable. His Moodle exercises are intense, but he gives you a really solid foundation in Latin. As the Undergraduate Advisor, Eilers is AMAZING because he gets back to you really quickly and can get your into classes
interesting
Hated this class. I was in third year when I took it, which was a big mistake. Moodle takes up too much time. Made me feel really uncomfortable because he made fun of his students when they got answers wrong. Not cool. Elvis in Latin was pretty good though.
Not exactly the best lecturer. Very easy class, though. Entertaining to hear him sing in latin
One of the worst profs I've ever had. Yells at students who come in late/leave early, tho he did this himself very often. Makes fun of you for getting answers wrong. Mean, unapproachable, unhelpful, unprofessional and rude. Avoid like the plague. His lectures could be decent but he is so mean and unhelpful, the class is impossible.
Eilers is amazing. I hated to miss a lecture. He must've changed since the other commenters had him, because he never once yelled and his lectures were always clear. He made Latin fun -- and easier because I was having fun. The Songs and the tangents about history and the evolution of the language were always a highlight.
Prof. Eilers is very smart and devoted professor. He is not the easiest, his course requires lot's of work but this is what all courses should be. I have no regrets taking latin...
Very interesting course. Prof. Eilers is very enthusiastic and goes the extra mile to make it the best course possible. The only downside to this course is insane workload (this is intensive course, you have to work every day and memorize A LOT!). Keep that in mind if you are taking other tough courses.
BEST PROF EVER. I'm in life sciences and I took Latin as an elective; although everyone says Latin is the hardest language, Dr.Eilers makes it very interesting and easy to learn. As long as you do your homework constantly, you'll do great in the course
Eilers is amazing. He really knows how to make the course fun.
Eilers was an excellent and fun prof- I was dreading classics, having taken it to fill up my course load, but he ended up making it somewhat interesting, I now read about classical antiquity for fun. His Elvis interlude is the stuff of undergrad legend. I'd say he's good overall, but that he does not suffer fools gladly.
AMAZING lecturer, hilarious. If you need help from him, just ask and he will make the time for you. Makes Latin even more interesting than it already is.
There are so many resources to do well in this class. Weekly quizzes, daily vocabulary quizzes, and post-chapter exercises means a lot of homework but also a lightly weighted final exam (there's no midterm). Dr. Eilers makes learning a whole new language almost easy. He's a super friendly and funny guy, one of the best profs I've ever had.
He mumbles a lot. My Korean friend speaks English better than Eilers. Also he is not organized at all. He does not even know his room number. I heard a lot of complains, not only from the students, but also from the TAs. The final exam was so easy though.
He's a funny and decent guy, however his knowledge of his own material is dodgy and he's all over the place at times. Have left lecture many times with more questions than I walked in with. Like I said nice guy just wouldn't take another history class he teaches.
Fun guy with fun classes. The course itself is very hard (more Latin's fault than Eilers') but overall not bad. You don't necessarily have to attend class to get the material as the textbook (written by him) does a good job of explaining everything. I attended for the dynamics of the class and the great practice with a prof who knows his stuff.
Dr. Eilers was so funny and entertaining in his lectures, but this course was so difficult and the online format did not work well. I only did well in this class because of extensive note-taking which I used to complete my work. But honestly I did not learn much Latin from it, and the weekly quizzes were so stressful.
The lectures were an absolute mess in my opinion. Prof would put up a slide with several words on it and then go off on a tangent about anything and everything, this made taking notes extremely difficult. Since most of the grade comes from assignments that are marked by the TA, the TA you get really makes all the difference.
Dr. Eilers is super funny but is by far the most disorganized professor I've ever encountered. Without the tutorials, I would be lost in this course. You could take excellent notes and they'd still be all over the place because he goes off-topic frequently and does not organize his lectures well. Would not take another class of his.
It's super difficult to understand his lectures. He mumbles and stutters throughout them, sometimes not even finishing his sentences. He will often go off topic about things completely unrelated to course content. My notes are left a disorganized mess and I seriously considered withdrawing because of the headache this class gives me.
The content was great, but at times I found the lectures hard to follow. The TA you get makes all the difference in further understanding the material. I just found the lectures sometimes hard to follow, and somewhat difficult to take notes on. Assignments were okay and pretty straightforward.
Lectures were completely unfollowable, and the exam was built almost entirely on the lectures. He would have lecture slides that would contain a few random disjointed words and then completely ignore them, making notetaking EXTREMELY difficult. He's a nice guy but I would never take one of his classes again.
The course itself was entirely held up by the TAs as his lectures were unfollowable. The assignments themselves were not bad and were graded well, once again, due to the TAs.The exam, however, was ridiculous. He told us in class things to expect on the exam, none of them turned out to be true. A lot of us studied so hard, only to be screwed over.
The lectures and very unorganized and hard to follow, the classes that I understood the best were the ones taught by a grad student. Before the exam he told us that he would post some things to help us prepare, but never ended up doing it. The exam was not at all what I was expecting and I spent lots of time studying for essentially no reason.
