One of the worst and laziest teachers I have had at NYIT. He is so research oriented, and he neglects that he is a prof. He knows his material, but is a horrible teacher.
He is an intelligent man but he does not belong at the front of a classroom. All he talked about was his research. All I learned in biochemistry was that water was important.
he doesnt teach you anything related to general biology and hurts you more than helps you. He's very conceded and deosnt seem to have an understanding of the field in which he is teaching.
He likes to say "Ahhhhhhlriiggghthhhhh" a lot.
One of the best teachers at NYIT. He really cares about the students!!!!
Dr. Gagna is a New Jersey Inventor of the Year award winner so he clearly knows his material. His lectures are decent and his exams and quizzes are fair. If you ever have questions, you could ask him for help. Overall, he is a great professor.
His class was GREAT! We learned so much about evolution, embryology and DNA. He also prepared us for Human Gross Anatomy. His is always happy and friendly. He really cares about his students and helps them get into Porfessional programs.
Excellent Professor!!!!!! Every lecture is GREAT !!!!
Great teacher!!!
Wonderful course. Students get to perform research in his laboratory. He is very patient with the students. Everybody likes him. We learn many new research techniques.
Dr. Gagna is a great teacher. He cares about his students. Everyone loves him. He goes the extra mile to help students with their academic growth.
I am learning so much about Histology. When I attend Medical School I will have a major advantage over other students. Dr. Gagna is the best teacher at NYIT. Thanks Dr. Gagna!!!
I learned so much in Histology this semester! Dr. Gagna is really great-- his tests are pretty easy (as long as you know how to study), and although it does take him a while to give grades back, he's really fair. I recommend him to anyone interested in bio at NYIT!!
Gagna is the worst. He doesn't know anything about anatomy, or histology. The only topic he knows about is the eye which gets very boring. If you need to know the material in these courses for Med. school take any other professor. Waste of time. Also all other comments below seem to be written by Gagna so ignore.
He is not a teacher.. just stay away from him. Unless you want an easy A. Also I tend to agree.. most comments seem to be written by gagna or his "lapdogs" from his biomed research club. Just telling it how it is..
Dr. Claude Gagna is an excellent teacher. You want him if you are pre-med so that you really learn the material. He will help you learn the fundamentals that will help you in medical school. Nice guy!
Dr. Gagna is an excellent Professor. I learned so much in his Comparative Anatomy, Human Anatomy and Histology courses. His Physiology and Genetics labs are also the BEST! He really teaches you the fundamentals so that you will learn what you need for medical school. He always emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to teaching.
Biomedical Research with Dr. Claude Gagna was an incredible experience. Take his course. You will love it and learn about research.
Great teacher!
Outstanding course! Not easy, but as a pre-med major it gave me the foundations for Human Gross Anatomy. This will make medical school an easier experience. His interdisciplinary teaching skills bring other areas of science in contact with Anatomy, like histology, immunology, pathology, and embryology. Take his course!!!
Taking Biomedical Research III was a great experience. Unlike other courses, this course allowed me to perform research was was a totally different experience. Dr. Gagna is an outstanding teacher and the nicest person. Take all four of his Biomedical Research courses.
Prof Gagna is a great professor and helps mentors students for a career in the sciences. His exams can be tough but I think they are fair. I enjoyed the class so much that I am going to take as many classes as possible with Prof Gagna. I feel it will prepare me for med school. He is also very friendly and approachable when I had questions.
Great course! I learned how to perform research. Dr. Gagna is helpful, an outstanding Professor and a really nice guy! Take the course. You will learn about scientific research and have fun at the same time.
Can not teach. Reads off the slides word by word or says the highlighted word and then tells the class to look it up themselves. There is no time to take notes when he has nothing to say or won't allow students to copy info. Stay away from his classes !! Disappointed in his teaching he is very careless. Learning nothing
C Gagna is one of the best teachers. His class is focused. Great PowerPoints. Great lectures. Anatomy was challenging, lots of studying. Made my brain work hard. Getting good grade, learning the materials makes it worth all the work. If you want to LEARN and work hard, I definitely recommend Dr. G. He is an awesome teacher!
Gagna is an excellent teacher. He is approachable in and out of class. He specializes in really good great power point presentations and class handouts. His comparative anatomy course was demanding, but fun. It’s the type of course that gets you ready for medical school. This course will help in an M.D. medical school with human anatomy.
Professor is outstanding educator. Gagna’s Histo is challenging. Only take it if you are serious about medicine. He gives a very good lecture, followed by pictures that explain what he discussed. Has passion for histo and that kept me paying attention. This guy is a good communicator. I also like him on a personal level. He is a cool guy.
Taking Biomedical Research I with Dr. Gagna was great. You will learn a lot. Definitely take the course with him.
Biomedical Research II is an excellent course for students who are interested in working in a laboratory setting. Take this course with Dr. Gagna and you will learn the proper techniques for dissecting eyes and extracting DNA from the ocular lenses.
Take Biomedical Research III with Dr. Gagna. He is very helpful. You will learn a lot
I took histology with Dr. Gagna in fall. It was one of the most interesting biology classes. If one want to become healthcare professional or a scientist this class is a must. He explains every single tissue with great details and is willing to answer any question. Exams are little hard because but fair. Histology is not an easy subject.
This is the best opportunity for students to learn the diversity of animal kingdom and their anatomy and physiology. It was extremely mind opening class. It helped me to realize why each animal including humans have certain muscles more developed then others. I must say that it was more interesting and comprehensive then human anatomy.
Dr. Gagna is one of a few professors that made lab fun, interesting and challenging. He explained each experiment in great details. Lab was extremely helpful to understand the genetics lecture in a science point of view.
He was my professor for histology and I actually ended up loving the class. He goes over everything, makes it seem clear and understandable. He describes the material in more detail than the textbook and this gives you a better understanding of histology and biology in general.
Super sweet professor. Had him for Comparative Anatomy. Take notes and you'll be just fine. He loves repeating things over and over again but it keeps it in your brain. Tests are straight from his notes. He prints out what you need from textbook. Gives extra credit for a field trip to a museum! For assigned reading, memorize chapter titles!
Really learned Human Gross Anatomy. Will be prepared for medical school. Long, hard lectures. Lots of notes. Lots to read in textbook, but I learned the material. Great powerpoints. Nice guy. Really crares. Very smart Professor!
It's an easy A class. I definitely recommend him for Human Gross Anatomy. Study the notes, study the diagrams, and you only have to read the textbook when he specifically ask you to read!
Dr. Gagna is very helpful! He recites notes in class and also tells you what is going to be on the test. He also gives a packet which provides diagrams for the test and you have to study them. He is a great teacher! Definitely take him for Comparative!
Dr. Gagna is definitely a great teacher for Comparative. He tells you what to know for the test and he reviews it well also. He teaches from notes and powerpoints and he also gives a packet with the diagrams needed for the test. Definitely a good teacher for Comparative!
If you take good notes, you can do really well in his class. All his exams are based off of them. He's very understanding and will help the student's out. Buy the textbook as well, notes comes out of there as well.
Needed to take this class as a graduate requirement, their is a decent amount of information to memorize but handouts given for each test makes studying for each test manageable, professor is very fair and helpful.
If you study you'll do well. He goes over everything in class for the most part. He's a little vague as to what is on the exams, but I focused on my notes and did well. Overall a good teacher at nyit. Would probably take him again.
Comparative Anatomy with Dr. Gagna is AWESOME. Hehas the best PowerPoints.
Bottom line - his tests are all based on FACTUAL data, nothing to do with application of knowledge at all. I did not go to class and I got a B.
Professor Gagna drinks milk like the expiration date is the following day. He will say each and every little thing in the vast textbook COULD be on the test. Gagna gives minimal challenges to students that put a concerted effort towards the class. The different courses he teaches at NYIT are indistinguishable from one another. Has a mean judo chop.
I took Dr. Gagna for Comparative Anatomy. I really wish there was someone else that taught it because Gagna just flat out sucks. He has a lot of things he tells us to study for on the tests, but then they aren't mentioned on said test. He also tells you to go home and read, which sorta defeats the purpose of him teaching.
Dr. Gagna is a good professor and a really friendly guy. He is always willing to help you and answer your questions. Exams are straight from his notes and handouts. So don't cut class or you're screwed. Only downside is that he is vague as to what will really be covered on the test, so you end up studying EVERY thing. Apart from that, he is good.
It's a manageable class. You have three tests, lab, and a final which make up the total grade. Just write the notes and review all the diagrams he says to and it'll be fine. Plus, he gives extra credit on the average.
Got a bad grade. Wasent surprised. Had to take this class at a requirement and knew how awful of a teacher he is. He is extremely disorganized. Throws your papers and lab books like used tissue paper. Expects you to do like 60+ drawings and thinks it's gonna help you. What a joke.
Took him this semester for Biomed 2. Had to memorize like 5 detailed drawings and dozens and dozens of facts about the human eye. Didn't really do much, honestly didn't learn much either. Better to take biomed 2 in the city campus or with Dr. H. definitely not hot, so you can tell her left that review himself.
He's scatter-brained and a bit all over the place... textbook and lab class is your friend :)
One of NYIT's better teachers. Expert in his field. Students take lots of notes. Cannot mis to many clkasses. Really friendly person and cares about teaching and students. Would take him again.
He prepares you for Medical School!!!!!! or PA school!!!!! One of NYIT's better teachers!!!!!
Great Teacher. Very passionate about the anatomical sciences. Had him for Human Gross Anatomy. Thanks to him I really understand the BIG picture of BIOLOGY and EVOLUTION! He made Comparative Anatomy enjoyable. Always available during office hours/free hours to help with questions. If you are serious about learning, then take Dr. Gagna.
An A is obtainable if you take good notes, focus on PPTs, read the textbook and read his amazing Semester Handout Booklet. Gagna also created a lab manual to supplement the one we purchased, saving us money. His tests are not easy, but he gives you a fighting chance for an A if you take the course seriously. Never miss a lecture.
His Human Gross Anatomy lectures are extremely clear and well organized. Nice guy with a good personality and a wicked sense of humor. He tells you what concepts to study in the Martini Anatomy book, which is important since we have so many chapters to read and each chapter has so much information.
I really love the self-test book he gave us to test ourselves on anatomical structures This is really great, and will keep it for medical school.
Gagna is helpful during his Biomedical Research I class. Engages students to perform research projects. We sectioned tissues and stained them with antibodies. Awesome stuff. Thanks to him I presented a poster at the 2014 SOURCE at NYIT. That was unlike anything I ever did before. Much better than just another typical lecture course!
I had Dr. Gagna for many classes, I took more then one research class with him, and in the summer he gives cool opportunities to do researches with him. Overall, He is an inspiring mentor, I got to do life changing experiments and researches with him and also combined researches with NYIT and Rutgers New Jersey medical school. 2 thumbs up..
Best Teacher, man!! Very passionate about the anatomical sciences. Had him for human gross anatomy. Thanks to him I really undestand the big picture of BIOLOGY and EVLOUTION. Made Comparative Anatomy enjoyable. Always available during office hours/free hours to help with questions. If you are serious about learning, the take Dr. G!
This guy really emphasizes the"interdisciplinary approach thing", which at first I did not get. Now I do. Only negative is that his lectures are long and tons of writing. He is the dude. Go for it. Take him for Gross Anatomy. You won't regret it.
This guy is very knowledgeable about histology. He taught us a great deal of basic stuff that will help me with human anatomy and pathology in Med School., since I just got accepted to MD School. He is all about an interdisciplinary philosophy. You will love his class. Thanks Doc.
Biomedical research 3 was a great experience. It was a continuation of Biomedical Research 1 and 2. Professor Gagna continued having me work on the same research project, which resulted in a published abstract at an annual scientific meeting. We actually made a poster board. It impressed the med school interviewer. Got into med school. .
Really like him. Dedicated Prof..........
Professor Gagna is an amazing Professor. He is very dedicated to his students , always willing to help each and every one. The tests are long, but very fair. 85% of material on the tests comes from his lectures, the rest is from handouts and the textbook. He loves seeing effort from his students. Make sure he knows who you are, so show up to class.
If you're planning to go to med/PA school, def take this class. Very useful, straightforward, no tricks. if you study, tests are very fair. You will not do well if you don't study as the tests are quite detailed. He offers extra credit in all his classes, and is always there to help if you ask. Def take him.
Took both, biomed 1 and 2 with prof Gagna. Both classes were very fair and you end up learning a lot of useful things, esp if you're planning to go into a medical field.
I am not to judge but I don't like how his tests are set up. He doesn't teach. A professor of his degree should be a better professor. Should have taken another teacher.
If you have the chance, take Gagna. I was scared that anatomy would be very difficult, however if you put in the work, you will be fine. He is there to help you. He has been very understanding and reasonable with our class. I definitely have enjoyed anatomy. I took the 8 am lecture that was 3 hrs long, it was rough but its manageable.
Dr. Gagna is one of the best professors I've had. He lectures in class and the tests are directly from the notes that are taken. Very straightforward, no surprises. He also gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. He really cares about his students!
I have taken Dr. Gagna for Biomed 1 and 2. He is a great Professor and there for you in time of need. I did summer researches with him as well, he gives great oppurtunities to participate in his researches, that can really build your resume. Overall; I learned many things and you remember the lessons, because they're hands on and he works with you.
Polite, gave good feedback, and helped me to understand our research project.
Gagna is a well-respected professor but he can't teach. All he does is read powerpoints to the class, powerpoints that are useless. His tests are completely different than what he teaches in class. I don't recommend him. Take someone else for this class.
He's nice and the class is full of powerpoints and notes. But believe me when I say that I am the queen of slackers and trust me, you won't wanna slack in this class. Chief called and said this class ain't it. You need to study or so help you God. Have fun :)
He's very nice and genuinely wants his students to do well through the many E.C opportunities. The points go to the ENTIRE GPA! His lectures can be slightly disorganized and you definitely have to self study. Hard class but with E.C and hard work, you should be fine. He gives three quizzes and three exams in total. Attendance through sign in sheet
Professor Gagna is nice and respectable. He tells us exactly what will be on the exams and any questions or concerns he helps us to the best of his ability. However you must study for his test. Since this year everything is online our lectures were recorded so if you missed class you wouldn't fall behind.
very understanding and is always willing to help students during office hours. you can tell he is really passionate about his work.
- for introduction to research literature, super easy teacher - for pathophysiology, very hard. You MUST read the textbook. Slides are not super representative of tested material. - good for histology - overall, super nice guy. always willing to help his students. there is also always extra credit in his classes.
This is a heavy course, but Professor Gagna makes it so manageable. He always explains the material rlly well so it's understandable, and is always happy to answer questions and help in any way he can. With grading, he is more than fair and will do his best to make sure you do well in his class as long as your effort is there. Take him if you can.
Dr. Gagna is one of the best professors you can take. He really does everything he can to make sure the students do well and never minds helping outside of class. He delivers the material very well and while a lot of reading comes with the course, he is very straightforward about what material you need to know. One of the best professors I've had.
His slides are repetitive sometimes and his test questions does not come out of his slides. Theyre from the textbook and he never told us to study from the textbook. He does curve by a lot though. Hes very understanding. Nice teacher but eh-
Please avoid this professor at all costs. He is quite literally useless in every way. He leaves key material out of the lecture slides in order to force you to read the textbook. It is so awful that he should just make the class asynchronous and be rid of the slides entirely. They serve us no purpose. He just reads off of them in clas anyway. Awful
He is such an intelligent man, but he is not a good teacher. He's very generous with grading, but he makes his tests very wordy. He likes people to come to class, but you won't miss anything if you don't. His slides are completely useless, just read the textbook. He will give you the grades you need to pass and he likes to see effort from you.
Dr. Gagna is one of the best Professors at NYIT. His PPTs give you a great introduction into the chapter assigned. Tells us to come to class and read each chapter before class to appreciate PPT lecture. The PPTs helped me remember the information, since he includes cool pics of diseases. Curves tests and gives extra credit test questions.
He gets you ready for medical school with his pathophysiology course. If you serious about med school take him and not the easier professor.
Professor Gagna is helping me with my term paper. Really appreciate it.
Dr Gagna is a great professor. He loves what he does. I may not feel that I am passing but he does make sure everything is there for you to succeed.
Professor Gagna is very understanding, he always listens to your concerns and tries to help out.
Dr. Gagna is a great Professor! His PowerPoints tell you allot about the subject matter. It prepares you for the textbook.
Excellent professor!
Dr. Gagna is a caring person and a great Prof who believes in diversity, equity & inclusivity. He's very open minded & enthusiastic about teaching all students & created a great teaching environment of belongingness. Human Gross Anatomy was an outstanding course. His office is always open to his students for advice. Thks so much for everything!
Prof Gagna is a wonderful individual & outstanding educator who supports DEI in his lectures & labs. He was always sensitive to the needs of all his students and ensured everyone felt included & heard. I am shy and do not like to ask questions in class so Dr. Gagna made himself available before and after class to discuss course work. Great course!
