4 tests, 3 papers. tests are matching, multiple choice, and 1 long essay. if you study the notes you will do good. usually gives 5 free points on each test. no need to read the book.
HOLY LECTURES! If you like sitting there all class and taking notes, this is the class for you! Otherwise, if you like any type of interaction, stay away. Test just basically feed right back the info from class notes
She's really sweet, but her lectures are sooo boring!!! Her tests are pretty easy and there are only two papers and the rest of the grades are exams...its a boring class..but easy.
She is a great teacher, lectures are boring, but the test/exams are just from lecture notes, don't really have to read the textbook. pretty easy class.
she's the most boring teacher i've ever had...especially when u have tues. thurs. class with her...your notes will be as many pages as you need to read in the text book...so you really don't need to read the text...avoid her
Very boring teacher. Knows her stuff though. If you like taking about 5-6 pages front and back of notes each class, take her. Else stay away. She does tend to skip around with her topics so just pay attention. Tests are easy.

BORING class, but she tries to make it interesting. A TON of notes. Test are easy average grade on one was a 90. Part of test are essays, but easy. 2 novel essays that aren't too bad. Don't have to take final if you get 95 in the class.
Very easy class, but very boring. Lots of notes, but tests are 85% straight from the notes. Four tests and 2 papers all year. Easy to get an A in the class.
easy class if you take notes. i never had to read the book, tests were all from notes and sometimes some maps. essay questions are easy, i usually guessed what they would be. papers help your grade. i took her for 101 and 102
her tests are from the notes and you have to write two papers
You have to take alot of notes but tests are straight from the notes. The tests are pretty easy.
Her class is really easy. You have to take a lot of notes, but her tests come straight from the notes. You have to write 2 papers. She is very nice but the class is soooo boring.
Very nice. Talks slow and willing to repeat the imformation. Grades very easily. Only thing strange was discussion of papers worth 60percent of paper grades. Easy to get extra credit as well for lectures. If minor or major take her
Talks forever in a montonous voice that lulls you to sleep. Take good notes cause thats the only thing the test goes by.
like they said, monotonous but just stay awake and write everything she says, dont miss class the whole test is on the notes, dont worry about reading my friends did and they said some information was different, go by what she says, papers easy, drink a dew before you get there to stay awake
she's really easy and nice
This class rocks. She makes everything clear for the test and you never have to read the textbook. Just listen to the lecture notes and you'll do fine.. shes a great teacher who is nice and kool.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING!!
Very nice person, approachable, and always willing to help you. Yes, this is a straight-up lecture class. If you find that boring, stay away. Personally, I like how she gets to the point and tells you what you need to know - nothing more, nothing less.
Very nice teacher. Class is easy if you do the little work it requires. Ps- she looks like a gummy bear.. but shes SO nice!
Very very boring and does not engage the class at all. She is very nice and very helpful, but I would not reccomend it..she also has a very strict attendance policy.
She is very nice and easy. No nonsense class, tests are from the lectures. She may be boring, but it sure is easy to stay awake when you know all you have to do is take notes to pass the tests. If your lazy and want an easy class take her.
Nice lady, talks kind of quiet, but if you take notes from lecture and complete the study quides, you will do well on her tests. Grades papers fairly easy.
Very boring and she looks like a t-rex
shes so boring but if u study shes easy
shes so boring but easy
If you take her...bring a hearing aid. She speaks so softly that even the people in the front of the class have a hard time hearing her. Her lectures can sometimes be very disorganized and somewhat boring.
one word to describe her. . .boring!!!!! her lectures are all over the place and are so hard to follow because she doesn't speak up, even if you ask her too. One minute she would talk about the nazi's and then next she would talk about i don't even know what. she sucks. . .
So easy! Take her if you need a 300 level History class and you arent a History major. Class wont be exciting but she is very friendly and will help you tons. Dont expect a life changing experience. Go to class and get your A.
she is terrible!! completely boring, cant hear her, and yeah, shes all over the place. i couldnt tell u what she talked about today. you can't hear her at all and she won't even try to speak up. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!!!!! SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER I'VE HAD AT SU!!!!! WORST CLASS EVER TOO!!!!!!
Great teacher. Very nice and helpful. EASY!
Most boring teacher ever people, tests are pretty easy if you can stay awake for the lectures, which i gurantee rarely happens...but do NOT TAKE HER! HER CLASS SUCKS
Shes not as bad as everyone says on here. She is very nice and helpful if you go to her out of class (although she can be hard to track down). Her lectures aren't anymore boring than any other history class where a prof. lectures the whole time. Ots not that shes all over the place she just teaches you so much in one class. Take good notes!!!
If you need an easy A, pop a No Doze & get on with it. But don't expect to be enlighted & don't expect a fun or interesting class. She is EXTREMELY boring & MUCH more so than any other History professor I've every had. (Hist. major here!) She's not very knowledgeable either. Don't ask any questions-she can't answer them.
Better get a close seat and a Venti size coffee beacause she is quiet and monotone...She goes through her lectures like she is reading the outline from (world history for dummies)...She is very nice and she will help you w/ any Q's but do not try to stump her...not much in depth knowledge on the subject
If you are not a history major you wont be interested in what she has to say so you wont stay awake. But if you like history take her. She is very helpful, she gives alot of detail( sometimes to much) Dont use the study guides she gives none of it is ever one the test, you will do better just studying the notes.
Two Words- Easy & Boring. She is monotone and reads directly from her notes for 50 mins every class BUT she gives study guides that tell you EXACTLY what to study for the tests. Don't buy the book, you wont need it. Take notes and study them for the tests. If you have a 95% or above, you dont have to take the final.
Class is extremely boring, all you do is take notes. However the tests are so easy you'll be glad you take her. She gives you study guides with all the information on there from the notes. So as long as you look over the notes, you'll be fine.
Class is boring but tests are very easy if you just pay attention, take good notes, and then study them. All test material comes from study guide and notes. Each test has an extra credit question. 95% or better in the class you don't take the final and that's not hard to attain if you try. I'm taking her next semester too!
Alot of people will probably tell you she is very boring...and they are right, but she really makes it very easy to take notes and the tests come rght from the notes. Other than that though she is a very fair grader and she offers a few writing assignments so if you aren't a great test taker this should help out alot. Take her!
Many will probably think she is boring, but the information is easy and she is very nice. Basic attendance policy, you miss X amount of classes before your grade is affected. You have 4 tests, all tests are easy if you study the notes and study guide. 3 essays. Thats all that's graded. Tests are multiple choice and matching with an essay. Simple.
Good teacher. easy
This class is NOT boring and neither is the professor. She goes over a lot of material but if you take good notes and study the notes and the study guide you will get a good grade. I would take another class with Hannon again!
Very boring. she's nice and the tests arent hard. She may make you write a paper, I had to write it on "Night". If you hate history I wouldn't take her because you'd be bored to death alot of the time, but it's an easy A if you go to class and take notes, she also gives you a chance for 30 total extra credit points.
Wish was more helpful. Sat in back of class cold barely hear her. Also all she does is lecture and never switches it up which becomes boring
Do expect to be enlightened. Its a fairly easy A, if you go to class and take good notes. She does give a study guide and it follows your notes very closely, so studying is very easy.
Rather boring at the beginnin, but when you get used to her - it is an easy class. Dont really need to read the book, but sometimes it is helpful. Do not do anything in class except straight lecture for the whole time. Take her- she is nice)))
I had her for multiple history classes back in 2001. She is very nice, and is straight to the point in her lectures. She teaches quite a few history courses there and I enjoyed them. I took a few with her for fun. She even arranged for another student to study with me when I had trouble and then I got a 100 on the next test.
Hard to take notes because she gives you so much while you're still writing what she said before. She writes very little on the board. 2 3 pg papers and 1 5 page paper. Out of 3 classes only like 16 people got As on her first test. Nice lady. Study guides not really helpful- too much unnecessary detail. Not too horrible but I don't recommend her.
Everyone says she is easy and nice. Sure, she's nice. And the class is pretty easy. But you can not call her classes "Lectures". Her classes consist of a 50 minute (or however long the class is) list of facts. There's no discussion at all. She just lists fact after fact after fact. Most boring class ever.
Nothing but lecture. I wrotes about four to five pages of notes of nothing but facts for every 50 minute class. Does not do anything to make it more interesting, in fact she makes it less interesting. Drink coffee and chew gum or something to keep you awake and focused.Very nice outside of class though.
Classes are 50 minutes of straight lecture, lots of note taking; however the material is easy and clear. Tests are very easy, reading the notes once will get you an A. No final if you have 95+/100 at the end of the semester (not hard to do).
Hmmm..what can I say? I didn't mind the class but what people say is true...it's a class period full of her talking and you listening..to fact after fact after fact. She pretty much reads straight from her notes and doesn't want to talk about anything that isn't written on her paper. The class is not hard..study your notes for the tests.
She is a very easy teacher just as long as you show up and write for 50 straight minutes. Nothing in the textbook is on the test. There are 5 or 6 writing assignments. She grades them real easy tho, take her if you need this class
Test are hard, you need to know every small detail of your notes. She grades papers very easy though. Guarenteed C, which for HIST 101 is just fine. If you want to actually learn, however, take someone else.
All you do is write. the entire 50 minutes. take REALLY good notes and you will do well on the 4 tests. i didnt study the first test and got a 37% but studied the 2nd test and got a 92% so its not that hard if you study. get a 95% average in the class and you dont have to take the final
this class is basically writing GOOD notes, reading the textbook/primary sources, and writing papers. Her classes are quite boring (if possible, have her class when you are wide awake.you'll thank me later), but what else would you expect from a lecture class? She's a good teacher, though. Just read and write.
The problem is that shes all over the place when she gives notes and its hard to follow. If you study the tests arent that hard but theres sometimes things not covered on the study guide so be sure to look at all your notes. EXTREMELY easy grader, i got 100%s on all 4 papers
Took her for a summer class. She wasn't hard, had five papers and the reading wasn't hard at all. TIPS: TAKE GOOD NOTES. Pretty much everything on the exam comes from the notes. She's nice, wasn't mean at all, even when people had forgotten their papers and all. I liked her.
She is so boring, the entire class consist of her reading notes to you and you scramble to write them down. She never uses PowerPoint or anything that helps you learn so she is only good for auditory learners. She presents the material in an unorganized and difficult to understand way. She uses a seating chart. She is not very helpful.
She grades very easy and the exams are directly from the lecture notes. However, her lectures are very dull. No visual or kinetic notes at all, she just talks the whole period and you have to write it down. Also there is a significant amount of work to do. Alot of papers and reading. Overall, not a bad class though.
Very passionate about her work. She's incredibly nice and approachable both inside and outside the classroom. Take copious notes, it's all on the exam. Also take advantage of engaging in discussions, she REALLY likes it! Sometimes she jumps around in lectures, I recommend bringing a laptop to take notes.
She is a very good teacher. i recommend writing down everything because you can then copy word for word to write your journals if you choose not to write a final paper. there were two additional papers we had to write. 8 pages but just summaries of the outside books in essence. she ID's everything u need to know for the tests. i recommend her!
All she does is read from a script... all class. Boring, waste of time. Only 2 students had A's and at lest 4 failed, I got a D and I felt like I knew everything. If you like listening to a teacher list facts for the whole class then knock yourself out. But if you are like me, then stay far, far away. Not a good teacher at all. Find someone else.
She's really not that nice in class. She hates when you ask a question and interrupt her 50 minutes of talking. I did one paper wrong and got a 0 so now I have an F. Write down EVERYTHING she says. I didn't like her. Not my cup of tea. Get on her good side or she doesn't like you.
She is very nice, very helpful, and a very good teacher. Only 1 long paper but she is an easy grader. Take her!!!
Really liked her class. Kinda dull, but straight to the point. You HAVE to take notes bc exams are taken straight from them.. which means you dont need the big textbook. 4 essays but you can just reiterate the text. Easy if you pay attention. Kinda hard to get in touch with.
I enjoyed this course for the most part because jewish history is freaking awesome especially the biblical accounts. Professor Hannon is a decent one, sometimes a little dull. She has a tendency to just read facts, but hey thats history right. She is an easy grader and the exams are not too hard, but there are few assignments so make em count.
This class is basically a lecture course, so every day she will spend the whole period lecturing and you will have to take good notes in order to do well. The exams are pretty easy and sometimes there is no essay and/or map. She sometimes pushes due dates for papers a day or two forward.
her class is based strictly on notes. if you miss what she says, it's a bummer because she gets irritated if you ask a question. she told us today that if we fail her calss, we're not going anywhere in life. i would not recommend her in a million years to even my orst enemy. terrible.
She is a decent teacher. Exams are based mostly off of oral notes only so if you miss class you are not going to do very well. Her exams are pretty hard and LOTS OF PAPERS. They are not hard to write just a pain and annoyance. Only allowed 3 absences but will allow you to reschedule one exam. She's okay but I would suggest a different teacher.
The Ancient Near East. Mrs. Hannon spends the whole class talking, no breaks. You spend the whole class writing notes, no breaks. Her tests are fairly easy as long as you study. If you dont you will prob get a D. You have a total of 3 eight page papers. But she grades the papers easy. I got two A+ on the papers, so yea. A lot of work to be honest..
Test are not to difficult but you must take good notes. She also assigns 3 page papers which aren't graded to hard. But you must study you notes and know them well I MEAN REALLY GOOD. It helps on the essays she might make you right at the end of the exam.
Super boring class, she lectures without powerpoints or anything for the entire class, every class. If you take good notes and study for exams you will get a good grade. 5 papers that she grades super easy, just study hard for the exams and you'll be fine.
SO EASY! If you go to class, take notes and maybe glance at the textbook you will pass easy. Her tests are straight forward from her lecture notes. SO easy
Had her for 101 and it was so easy, thats why I took 318. Class is different from 101 since it is a history major class. Tests are all essay but her lecturing is the same- if you go to class and take notes you will pass. She gives you a study guide and it helps
She can be kind of boring sometimes but its not a bad class. She just stands up front, talks, and writes on the board. Shes knowledgeable. There are a few papers which you have to pick a side on an issue in an article you read and a paper on a book. Easy paper grader, she tells you exactly what is on the test. Study and its easy
Overall an easy course. However, I would not recommend her as a teacher. Her lectures are extremely boring and monotone and she doesn't appreciate it when you ask questions. Test and papers are not terribly hard, but I would take this class with a different professor.
Dr. hHnnon might have been one of the worst teachers i ever had. she does not use a single power point, rather writes notes down on loose leaf paper and put it on a projector forcing you to read her hand writing which is similar to hieroglyphics. she doesnt stop talking so its easy to miss notes keeping up with her. tests are fair only bright side.
Dr. Hannon is a very boring lecturer. I am a history major and I even thought it was extremely boring. You just write all class what she says. She has a piece of paper on a projector that has key words but they are hard to read. She gets annoyed when you ask a question and interrupt her 50 minutes of strait lecturing. The test are not to bad.
Prof. Hannon has long boring lectures. Her class is set up easily, 4 tests and 2 papers. An interesting class, but sometimes she made the class confusing and boring. She's an easy grader and sets you up to do well.
I'll hand it to the lady, she is a very sweet and very helpful lady if you explain EXACTLY what you need, but she teaches from chicken scratch notes and blazes through them. Sometimes she gives you a hand out, but barely reviews how the handout is meant to help. Study guides not helpful, tests are hard, but not crazy. Very hard to take notes
Her sylabus is clear cut. Class is mandatory and you must take notes. On exams typically you need to Identify five of ten terms from the list and enclude all pertinante information and then you have the choice of two essays. You also have two papers an eight page and a twelve page one and you have almost all semester to do them. Not a Fluff course!
Professor Hannon comes off as a sweet lady who knows a lot about the subject. The tests are extremely hard, you have to read the textbook if you want to pass her exams. The syllabus is very clear cut
I feel the other peple here are too harsh on this poor old lady. This is a lecture based class, but if pay attention and take good notes, you will not have to read a textbook. The tests are difficult if you do not put the effort in or follow the study guide. She gives you every thing you need to pass and do well, you just need to use it.
Lectures were boring and you just copy her notes the entire class. Tests are tough, maybe cause I didn't read the book, but not impossible if you study. Three papers to write (two of them on books). I ended up with a B in the class after not reading any of the required material. Definitely boring but pretty easy to pass if you show up.
The tests are HARD. She gives study guides so stick with the study guide and you'll be fine. There are two, 7 page papers she assigns which are challenging. They are opinion papers so they are easy writing wise but trying to drag information for 7 pages is difficult. 2 papers, 4 tests, and a final. You have to work for the B, otherwise expect a D/F
Her exams come right from her lecture notes I did not even crack my textbook and did great in the class. If you get a 95 before the final you do not have to take it. She assigns two 7 page papers but they are opinion pieces and as long as you format it correctly you are golden.
She lectures, you take notes, take exam. That is all this class is. Gives study guides and makes exams fairly simple if you study. BORING class but simple. 2 papers 7 pages each that are graded easily. Nice woman, if you have a question or need help she's there. Took her for 102 and liked her enough for 202. Allows 3 misses but try not to.
Dr. Hannon is a gem. She is literally the sweetest person. She gives you a sheet with all the topics on the exam before she lectures about them. I wrote down pretty much everything she said & got an A. Willing to give extra credit and meet with you outside of class. She cares about her students, but when she is talking... keep your mouth shut.
Only assigns 2 papers over the semester which require you to read part of or all of a book, start early on! She speaks slowly so you're able to write down everything she's saying in a lecture (I recommend you type notes up), is an easy grader on written papers and her exams are pretty straight forward.
She gives two papers on two books. The tests are difficult but if you take good notes and study then you would be good to go. She gives a study guide for tests and maps in order to understand the geography of locations.
Her lectures are the most boring things ever. She doesn't even use powerpoint, she just throws a few words on the board and talks in a monotone voice for 50 minutes. Repeats herself a lot too. There's a test every other week or so, and two papers on books you have to read. The class isn't hard, it's just beyond boring.
I take five to eight pages of notes every day, if you get can't write fast maybe bring a computer. She allows 3 skipped classes but really try not to unless you need to. If you do need to skip class make sure you have someone to borrow notes from. The whole class is a lecture so sit in front and pay attention. She's a pretty cool person though.
she is incredibly boring, lectures in a monotone voice the entire class. Nothing interactive at all, no creativity. Throws a piece of paper on the board with words on them and drones on and on about the topic.
Most boring class I've ever taken, truly an awful teacher.
Most boring teacher I've ever had. Couldn't wait for class to end every day. Just typed up words on a piece of paper, puts it on the projector and drones on and on. Tests are hard, lectures are boring, lots of essays. If you can, DO NOT take this teacher.
She's straight up a horrible teacher. Very boring, unhelpful, just terrible. Avoid her class if possible.
Boring, not creative in the slightest, horrific teacher. Gives us very unhelpful study guides. Attendance is mandatory. She will put you to sleep.
She gives horrible study guides, the tests are really hard, the books are boring. She's a truly horrific teacher. Do not take her class.
Very test heavy class. She puts a piece of paper on the projector and drones on for 50 minutes. Gives very unhelpful study guides, and the books are boring.
Boring teacher with nothing special about her class. She's rude, annoying, and just uninspired. Clearly hates her job. Test heavy class, long books, and awful lectures.
Quite possibly the worst teacher I've ever had. Boring lectures, hard tests, long books, what she lectures about isn't even on the test. She expects us to write down what she's saying at the same time as writing down the notes.
This teacher only does lectures and they can sometimes be confusing. Overall take notes and study them hard. I almost dropped this class but glad I stuck through it because it got easier.
She was a wonderful professor who graded easy! As long as you put in the work to study you will get a good grade. The tests were all multiple choice and matching and were based directly off of the lecture (study your notes). There were two essays but they were both opinion essays on what you thought about the book and she graded them easily.
The Professor is not a horrible person, but she cant teach in my opinion. She doesnt use MyClasses or PowerPoints. She hand writes the notes a few times but its normal typed on paper, but her Handwriting is terrible. She gives you so many notes & all of it never ends up on the exam Ive failed 3 exams out of 5 so far. Its honestly ridiculous.
All of the tests are based off of her lectures so, take good notes in class! Ask her if you can record the lectures and if she allows it, I highly recommend you do that so you can go back and redo the notes to make them more in depth to study off of. She is a great professor and I found her class very enjoyable!
Hannon is a good professor but rather boring. Her class if pure lecture with 7 grades assignments, 5 exams & 2 essays. I was able to fail 2 exams and pass everything else and ended with a B. If you do not study you will not pass. The essays are easy A's and they're reflections. Exams are all multiple choice. I wouldn't take her again but she's good
Show up to class, take some notes and you will pass. Study for a test... like usual and you will be fine. Not a hard grader. You dont even need the textbook.
All of the tests are based primarily on lecture. There are extra credit oppurtunites and the papers are pretty much opinion based. She types all of her notes or sometimes handwrites them and puts the under the overhead. The study guides aren't helpful, and she gives handouts that have info that was never gone over in class. Would not suggest
If you're a good student that is prepared to take notes during ALL lectures and you study your lecture notes and the study guides you will pass with an A. There is lots of extra credit opportunities and I didn't even have to take the final because my grade was so high from all the other tests. 5 tests and 2 essays. Take notes and study. You'll pass
please choose a diferent professor for History 101. For one she doesn't use myclasses, so you have no idea what your grade is, doesn't respond to emails. Is very rude and makes students feel upset. Additonally she doesn't use powerpoints in class, and writes on a piece of paper that is unlegible.
The class can tends to drag on but make sure you are following along because you NEED the notes. Grades are based on 5 exams and two essays. For the essays, as long as you follow the rubric they're an easy A. I did like the books, and if you read a couple of pages a day you'll be finished way before each paper is due. Also, do the extra credit.
Nicest old lady and very sweet. If you don't go to class you're for sure failing. She lectures the whole class and you better take some good notes and study hard.
She is your average professor but not terrible. There are 3 papers and 3 exams. All of the exams are based on her lectures. The papers are all opinion-based. If you have at least a 95 at the end of the semester, you do not have to take the final. This class is pure lecture. You can only have 3 absences. If you take good notes, you'll pass with an A
Easy class, three exams and two papers. Make sure you read the requirements and you will be fine. Lectures are typed out, be ready to read them and take notes.
