Class consists of lots of work and group projects. It feels like busy work. She is not the nicest.
Homework consists of textbook readings and there are always quizzes everyday (at most 3 a day). Dropped a few quiz grades. She is not the clearest when assigning projects but she has a homework calendar. She will only help you if you go to office hours. She treats everything like a business ESPECIALLY projects. I would try to avoid if possible.
We are treated like adults and expected to follow deadlines and regulations of project. We do have too many quizzes!
The instructor is nice and very helpful. She teaches very straightforward and is very practical. The activities are fun! I would like a better textbook and less quizzes.
The class is clear and straightforward even if it is a lot of work . The activities in class are also beneficial. Just do the work. The professor does teach the class efficiently.
She is very passionate about the topic, and enthusiastic. She worked with UAVs (Navy I think) and at NASA. She does a good job teaching us what a job feels like.
the class is very engaging and the activities are very entertaining
She responds to emails quickly, she gives you excatly everything you need for each assignment, take notes, her class is a lot of fun and it will be over before you know it.
Absolutely the best prof I have had here. She is not easy however is extremely helpful
Prof. Ehringer is a great instructor given lousy instructions. Prof. was always up-beat, eager to teach, clear in her communication, and a definite expert in her field. Unfortunately, the curriculum designed for this class is below average. But she does the best she can with it.
Lots of interactive projects, I actually like the quizzes after reading because it actually ensures I absorbed the material. She gives clear instructions , and gives you the deadlines the first day of class.
Prof excepts high quality of work from you, but you will learn a lot. Always helpful answering questions. Take her if you want a great instructor and are not afraid to actually learn and have fun, don't take her if you want want an easy A.
Professor is straight forward and expects you to show up and have your homework/reading completed ahead of time. Real firm but fair and is well versed in her teachings and knowledge of subjects. One of my favorite profs at the school!
Good professor, nice, kind and funny. The quizzes are moderate. Read the textbook, do all the home works and you will do good.
I think the professor made this class about as straightforward and easy as it can be. The professor is great at teaching and had great knowledge of the content. Highly recommend her.
She will explain exactly what you need to know and test you right out of the books questions
Quizzes in this class are near impossible, it's questions like "What is the 8th word of the 4th paragraph of the 3rd page in this chapter." This class doesn't prepare you for other classes let alone the industry. When you have to do design reports you are often told to do them wrong, and you should never show any company the resume you have to make
She is very upfront about what she wants your work to look like. It's a pain to do the homework her way, I hated it, but everything is done the same way so just follow it and you'll be fine. She is happy to help outside of class.
She is very straight forward with what she expects. Just study for the quizzes and do the homework and you'll be fine. DO NOT SLACK on the group projects. And love that syllabus. It is your lifeline to what is expected and what is due! She definitely is nice and does a good job! Also, love that book, because all your work comes from it.
You have a quiz every class based off of reading you have to do. Plus you do 2 group projects. Hope you get good partners that carry their own weight. But you do peer reviews so you can "call out" those that don't do well and they'll get a worse grade. She's had some high-end jobs so she knows her stuff.
The experience I gained from working on the major projects in EGR 101 has helped me grow as a leader and will continue to benefit me throughout my college career. EGR was easily the most important class I have taken so far at Embry riddle and she was outstanding at helping me through the process.
She is simply amazing. She cares a lot about her students and does an excellent job in introducing them to the world of engineering, She challenges students with the three large projects, but she is always available to provide assistance. She is very approachable during class and encourages student input often.
She's one of the best. She knows her job and gives out real life experiences. Also attendance is compulsory for her. because you have easy quizzes every class which if you miss you have chances of failing the class
Fantastic professor, and a considerate and respectful person. One of the best teacher experiences I've had throughout my educational career. Would HIGHLY recommend.
Amazing teacher, highly recommend, however if you're taking her for this class just show up every day and read. She really tries to give it to you because its an 'easy' class, but if you don't pull your wait she will let you fail it. A couple of group projects, but don't worry, she reads peer reviews and actually listens to them.
Great professor. Just go over the notes and the hw and you'll should get an A in the quizzes. Very helpful professor.
Lucas is very nice, and she presents everything in a clear and organized fashion. Just be prepared for lots of reading and quizzes - There were two group projects, but as long as you work hard you'll do great - and she provides a lot of opportunities for extra credit (100 points in the HW category for attending extra credit work days, etc.)
Claudia will give tests on every chapter of the engineering book bought at the bookstore. The tests have no clear scheme and make you have to remember the whole chapter per test. Other than that the projects are ok be prepared to do lots of work or fail by group evals. and always listen to the comments in the logbook.
Dr. Ehringer is easily one of the best, if you have the chance to take her, go for it. Lectures are very dynamic, informative, and she keeps the class engaged. She cares about her students and it shows.
Very honest and fair professor, very knowledgeable with the subject and makes the class enjoyable. She is very laid back and likes to joke. I would DEFINITELY recommend her to anyone.
Do you reading, work well with your team and get at least a B. Great Professor, I have a lot of respect for her.
50 percent of your grade is based on group work. She has very strict and specific grading criteria. Overall she is a very caring and good professor, the group work is just awful though. she give daily quizzes which are sometimes very easy or very hard, but she has two EC days which will improve you HW/Quiz grade a lot, if you show up.
She is very knowledgeable on the subject and is willing to make accommodation to fit conflict schedules etc and is friendly and easy to approach
she's awesome. Very helpful in office hours and open notes quizzes. She really gives you an insight into engineering in the real world.
Great professor and easy class. Two big projects make up 50% of your grade. Do the extra credit, makes a difference at the end.
Great Professor.
She's great. A lot of people say she's crazy and expects too much of incoming freshmen but the class is awesome. She does her job well and is approachable. Yes, you'll spend countless hours on the projects (they're fun though so it's great) but that's what the course requires; students shouldn't blame the professor for doing their job. Take her.
Overall great professor. Dispatches lots of homework and group projects are long. I would re-take her again for other courses...
Professor Lucas is so helpful. Her class is formatted as reading at home then taking a quiz in class. The class is quiz heavy but her quizzes are fairly easy as long as youve read the material. She is easily the best EGR101 Professor at ERAU.
She was a fantastic instructor and was super easy to go for help.
Claudia was such a difficult teacher to deal with. The group project expect a lot of work in very little time. Lots of team meetings outside of class necessary to complete them. The projects are also very difficult and require 10 minute presentations +/- 30 seconds which requires lots of work and practice.
Doctor Lucas, is a great professor that makes me enjoy content that I dont particularly like, she has expanded my perspective on thing I thought I already knew well, and has made my experience here more enjoyable, as part of her class in to attend an organization, I joined an organization that has really helped me grow.
A very nice lady, doesn't make things any harder than they have to be, which is a huge plus.
I would definitely take this professor again. She's friendly, helpful, and seems to actually care whether her students pass or not, but you must do the work.
The professor was always prepared for class and always the demanded the same level of preparedness from us. All the homeworks had to be turned in at the start of class which i think is really professional and good to do somewhat so you could learn to manage your time.
If you are reading this before taking her class be thankful. Quizzes are easy if you take 2 pages of notes for each chapter if not you'll do bad. The group project is very important for your grade.
Professor Lucas is AMAZING. A true professor, she brings an incredible amount of life experience to her students. Her class earns you credits towards a degree, but offers so much more. Go. Listen.
She's a very passionate teacher and always gives interesting examples. Her in class activities are actually pretty fun and helpful. Her lectures are quick as you have to read the chapter before attending class. I would definitely take a class taught by her again.
This year because of COVID, Claudia's class was not like the ratings on here. She didn't teach that well and gave little to no guidance on projects. I feel like her class was better before COVID, but personally would not take her because there are other teachers that are adjusting better to the changes that are happening.
She uses videos and real life stories along with her presentations in class, which help us understand the importance of the material. She talks about her experiences as an actual Aerospace Engineer, before coming to ERAU.
Awesome. Crystal-clear expectations. Super helpful and interesting to speak to, any bad reviews here are from people that did not put in the work. You only get out what you put in.
There was a constant engagement from the professor in class and outside, notes were clear, plenty of resources to review material and get help.
Such a great teacher! The class activities are super fun. There are quizzes on Sundays and Tuesdays, which are easy and straightforward. She made the class super fun, I would definitely take her again.
Knows her stuff. Answers emails quickly. Accessible and willing to help. I would take her again.
Each time you miss class 2 times, your grade drops a whole letter grade, so attend class! This class is project-heavy. You will have two big projects. The first one is the hardest one, but it is also the shortest one.
I loved every second in this class! She is super caring and nice and you can tell that she wants to see her students be successful. We did use our textbooks a lot and you read and then have a quiz each class you come into on what you read. You have to work hard in her projects. I hope you take her class! Shes the best.
My professor is very dedicated and is always willing to help no matter what issues one has. She takes her time when explaining, making sure we are prepared for the homework and the exams.
I really liked how the expectations for each assignment were clearly listed in the cover pages, it created such an easy way to get a high grade. In-class assignments were fun and engaging, as well as the final project. The homework was not too demanding, deadlines were always the same.
A little bit intimidating in the beginning of the year but if you are willing to put in the work on the two projects and your team members aren't completely useless you will do fine. If you came to this school for the right reason this class should be pretty interesting and fun and Lucas is a good teacher and an experienced one.
It definitely takes time, but I think she is absolutely amazing! The group projects were fun if you got along with your group members, but they can be tedious. TAKE HER!
Lucas is no-nonsense but really experienced and knows what she's talking about. She doesn't accept late work or absences for any reason, but gives really detailed instructions for every homework assignment so getting a decent grade isn't too hard
The professor is a great lecturer and classes are engaging but this was an unreasonably difficult class for a 100 level intro course. A lot of studying and textbook reading is needed to be done outside of class. She does provides tips in how to do well in the quizzes. If you do not want to put in the effort thank someone else.
Prof Lucas is awesome. She is thorough, and makes her lectures enjoyable. She can be tough, but she is always fair, and cares about the success of her students. Damn good prof.
There are a lot of easy assignments that are free 100s but there are also a lot of assignments that are graded kinda hard and not really explained well. She doesn't teach anything in class but outside of class there is assignments almost every night though most assignments are easy and can be completed a few mins. Okay professor, harsh grader
Prof. Lucas is honestly such a great prof for any first year student! She makes 2 hour morning lectures on a Friday morning seem like a breeze as she has a lot of humor during lectures. Although she has a funny way in teaching she is clear in what he wants. Attendance is mandatory and tests are quite simple if you take notes and study.
shes good, but the tests are nothing like the questions in class so make sure that you are extremely well prepared for those.
Expects you to spend per hour in class 3-4 hours studying, rather than per credit hour 1-3 hours a week studying. Expects between 5-8 hours of your time out of class. Good luck.
Hands down, my favorite teacher. Always clear, always willing to explain, and great at keeping students engaged. Her class is always fun, and zips by, but I always felt like I had learned a lot. Definitely take her class, if you can!!!!
This professor assigns 2 large group projects in one semester and gives very little time to complete them. Gives very few important details and leaves the group to figure them out on their own, then grades very harshly. Requires a signed "cover page" for each assignment and extensive and unnecessary documentation. Good teamwork skills required.
Take any other professor. She expects 4hrs of homework per hour in class and she means that. 2 extremely time consuming group projects are done through the semester. Extremely hard grading criteria, but at the end of the year she said not to try too hard in her class. She has good experience in the field, but for a 101 she is trying way too hard.
Gave so much more homework than any other EGR 101 teacher and took off points for really dumb things. She expects 6-8 hours spent on her class outside of her class. She has two large projects, which require an insane amount of documentation and gives almost no class time to work on them.
Some reviews here don't do her justice. I came into this class expecting my grade to suffer, but this was the complete opposite experience. She made EGR 101 into an interesting class and all her lectures are short and mostly . Grades everything extremely quickly and is always available for office hours. Really cares about the class. Follow the reqs
Professor Lucas was a very effective. She was an incredibly fair grader meaning I knew I would have to put in a lot of work to achieve a good grade. I would highly recommend Professor Lucas to anyone serious about being an engineer, however she is not the teacher for anyone who wants to slack off or get an easy grade.
The airplane project was very difficult. Every time I would ask her a question, she would say “Did you ask your team” and it was for questions that my team didn't know and she could've easily answered. There are many lectures. She's nice enough, I just hate the work flow and style of this course with her.
Professor Claudia Ehringer Lucas was overall a great professor and cared for her students. She worked to make sure all her students did they best they would, and I had a great experience with her. In the beginning ofthe course I struggled a little bit, but I did end up getting used to her teaching style and ended up getting an A.
She's also Claudia Ehringer. She only tells you what you're expected to do, she doesn't really teach you how to do it. You're just supposed to figure things out by yourself. The reports and presentations that you have to do, which is the main part of the class, feels like busywork that doesn't really demonstrate what you've learned.
Get ready for unannounced homework, some tough grading on group projects, lots of textbook reading, etc. You may laugh her off when she asks you to do 3 hours of homework per every hour in class, but you'll quickly find out she really means it. That said, she'll help you out in office hours, and you can't avoid these things with someone else in 101
Wasn't terrible, but it felt like we had a lot of unnecessary work that was often unclear what to do. She doesn't really give any examples and I felt like I spent way too much time working on homework from a two credit hour class. Although she does respond to emails quickly and feels like she genuinely cares about the students.
Honestly, best professor this semester. Had a low grade for my own fault, so I'm writing to make sure you don't have to do the same! I didn't do so well at the beginning thinking it was going to be an easy class. It's not difficult , stay on top of the work, OR YOU WILL FAIL! Use all the resources provided to you, stay on track, AND DO YOUR WORK!!!
Compared to other EGR 101 students taking this class with other professors, we had more coursework to complete but I think we were able to learn a lot more.  The projects that we completed helped us learn key skills that a lot of employers are looking for in a good employee and engineer: teamwork, critical thinking, and leadership.
So much busy work
The class had a bunch of busy work, and the group projects are bad. I am not sure how much of it is her fault versus bad class design by the school Also, make sure you turn in your resume to the career center several days before it's due, because if you miss that one easy assignment, you lose about 5% of your final grade.
There is a lot of work, take someone else if you want an easy A. She was good teacher.
She is a great professor who gave us hands-on projects and really wants you to get some project experience for your resume as a freshman (and also just because it's fun)! She worked for NASA so she has a ton of real world applications to teach you about. She takes LOTS of points off for miniscule format things like cover sheet errors (tough grader)
