Probably the best professor I've had so far. Really good if you don't understand the subject as she goes over everything in detail. If you print out the lecture notes, go to class, and pay attention, you'll get an easy A.

Claudia was my favourite prof this term. She is the most dedicated prof I've ever had, marks things super fast, explains EVERYTHING thoroughly, and never jumps from A to D in her calculations. She is extremely considerate and her students are her first priority. I changed my whole schedule next semester to make sure I'm in her class for STAT217.

Great teacher. Is very clear and gives multiple examples in class which allow you to well on the midterm and assignments.

Claudia Mahler was the best prof I've had at U of C so far. Her notes are great the only thing that might need some change is for them not to be so focused on Minitab since you wont be able to use it on the final. Other than that she was amazing and really caring and helpful and always did her best to help her students. 100% would recommend her!

Claudia is so sweet with detailed notes. Attendance is mandatory to fill in half-filled in notes, but she explains concepts very well. Midterms are SOO easy since she makes them herself, but Stallard's final and the lab quizzes were brutal. Mostly goes over minitab examples, so aren't well prepared for the final. But is very helpful in office hrs.

One of the best profs I have experienced so far. Her notes are really well written organized. Her lectures are a little bit slower but that's because she makes sure everyone understands the material. Her midterms were a lot easier than the final so make sure to practice other material.

She is the best STAT prof ever! She has amazing notes and always make sure you know how to do problems by hand and in Minitab. The course is hard but you don't feel as lost in her class.

Why are you even reading reviews on her? HURRY. Just register in her class before it's too late. She is literally the best professor to take this class with. She is an amazing professor, an easy marker, and makes her midterms extremely easy. This is still a pretty hard course in which you need to grind to get over 50% on the final just to pass.

Great professor. Cares about students and their success. If you are quick to pick up math concepts you might find lectures boring, but that just means there isn't a ton of information to know. Very good a taking the time to explain things when people don't understand. She's the most fair marker I've seen in two years of university.

Her lecture notes are amazing! Although she likes to go far and beyond when explaining things which can get very boring, made the end of the semester a real grind to go to her class - I felt that it was unnecessary for me to go usually. She also didn't explain some things that were in the HW. Apparently the best STATS teacher though.

If you have the chance to take STAT 213 with her, do it. Amazingly detailed lecture notes and takes the time to go through examples similar to the ones you will see on the weekly quizzes. Her office hours are accessible, and she is great about answering emails with any questions you might have (even late at night!).

Dr. Mahler concisely and effectively delivers every bit of info you would need in the most simple manner, allowing you to learn the material without confusing yourself, and optimizing your ability to succeed. Sends a plethora of emails that are incredibly helpful regardless of the amount. If you are someone taking STAT213, this is the choice.

Excellent professor all around! She excelled at breaking down complex concepts and delivering them in a simplistic and relatable manner. Her lecture notes are worth 100 times their weight in Gold but, you will have to show up to class to take them down. Textbook would be useless if not for the Minitab key-card that comes with it.

I had Claudia for 213 & 217, she is definitely the BEST prof Ive ever had. You can tell she is very passionate about what she does and cares a lot about her students. Best prof ever, I had Scotty Baldy for STAT 213 in the Fall 2017 semester, couple of peers who had Claudia for 213 told me to take her for 217, i listened and we all enrolled and her notes are so clear, she actaully posts filled in notes online and really takes the effort to make sure we succeed. Nothing but pure respect for Claudia.

Dr. Mahler is easily one of the most phenomenal professors at the U of C. She makes her notes so incredibly simple yet covers all the material well. An absolute gem. I took STAT213 with Vasudevan and had to drop. With Mahler I learned things I didn't know the first time. Her notes are incredible and you NEED to print them for the full experience. Took this in spring and it was super easy with her. I actually like stats now. She's a glowing human and makes a tough subject enjoyable and easy.

Honestly, Claudia is such a gem! She is so kind and her notes are wonderful! All the assignments and midterms are an easy A ìf you study off of them and off the additional problems. Amazing professor. Her lectures were a bit boring because she goes in depth with the notes but the notes itself are amazing. The practise questions she posts are extremely helpful as well since they are very similar to the midterm questions.

She goes extremely in depth for every concept and goes through lots of examples so it is very easy to keep up and learn the material. She was an amazing prof and made stats simple and almost fun. Would highly highly recommend her for any stats class. She also grades very fast which I appreciate.

Really good stats prof for non stats majors b/c she gives great notes so you dont need to buy a textbook. No need to go to class b/c she posts notes after each chapter tho it does help to go so you see the examples step by step. Exams are straight forward, study her notes and do ALL practice qs. I managed to get an A without too much difficulty!

After taking STATS with Claudia, concepts that I missed in Calc 2 were even clarified. Totally recommend her as a prof. She approaches problems in every learning style to make most sense of it and provides thorough notes, so if you miss something you can review it. She will answer emails promptly if you have questions.

I don't think I would've done well at all if I didn't have Claudia for stats 217. Her notes are very clear and she explains all concepts so they're easy to understand. Her exams are very fair as she posts additional problems that really help you practice. She is also very nice and approachable in emails and office hrs.

My best prof when it comes to access outside the class room and email response. This lovely lady goes in most saturdays and sundays for a few hours just for her students. What a gem! Her notes are very well organized and she has a great voice to listen to. Its math so expect lots of assignments and homework but clear grading.

Her lecture notes are really clear and she provides lots of extra practice. All the assignments may be time consuming but force you to do the practice required to get good grades on the quizzes/midterms. Really good prof who made concepts clear and explained them well.

Stats was actually fun because of Mahler! She is an amazing lecturer with extremely organized and comprehensive notes. She teaches in a way that is easy to understand and is always accessible through email or office hours. There are Webwork assignments and weekly quizzes but if you keep up on material they are easy. Also bonus marks are available!

I was really nervous about taking Calculus let alone a math course in a giant university theater this year. Nonetheless, Mahler did a superb job of instruction. Went at the perfect pace explaining step by step, really nailing down the concepts. Her notes are also AMAZING and I don't know what I would do without them.

She wasn't my assigned prof but I sat in on her lectures and she made calc so easy to understand. She also emailed me all the practice questions and completed sets of notes she posted on D2L that I didn't have access to (because I was enrolled in a different lecture section). She's such a sweet person and has great notes, take her classes!

Math was never a strong suit but I did way better than I ever imagined doing in a math class in her 249 class. I wasn't great at math my whole life but I aced a university calculus final, that says a lot!

She started the first lecture of the year by saying that she used to find math scary and that if you felt that way now, that was totally okay. She said she'd be there along the way to help us through the course and her goal was that by the end, we'd be feeling good about calculus and our ability in math. She was absolutely right. This class hit me like a truck. Without Mahler, I would have definitely failed Math and probably would've thought about giving up. There were a lot of things I had to be reminded of like trig ratios, unit circle, factoring, etc. Mahler sent emails that had quick reviews on those. Super caring and actually wants you to succeed.

I would take a course just to have her again as a prof ��. Had her 2 years ago. Can't use words to describe how neat and clear her beautifully written notes are. She is sweet, kind, and encouraging. In stat 321, listening to her explain her notes would calm me down, unlike the messy old notes from the other stats profs.

Stats is tough, but she was always there for office hours, always willing to spend extra time on each student to help them understand. I've heard from others they think lectures are bland but it's just VERY straightforward and wastes no time (lots of content). I had Prof. Mahler doing the Winter 2021 COVID-19 online semester, this course is so good for first year students. The recorded lectures weren't always done by her but the notes are clearly standardized material, detailed and understandable. Graded material is setup for SKILL ACQUISITION. Approachable, organized, and super communicative. 11/10

Claudia covered some content in my STATS321 class and her videos were the only reason I did well. Now I am thriving in STATS323 she explains everything super clearly. Statistics is a difficult subject but she is able to break down the content in a very understandable way. She sets you up for an A

Best prof in the stats department. She has the best explanations when explaining how to approach a problem, and will help you if needed. Her class average this semester is extremely high, with this semester being an A (92%, although we had 24 hours for quizzes). In-person is usually an A-. Take her over Scott or Stallard (Clowns) when choice given.

my best prof this semester

STAT 213 was online for me and it was asynchronous so each unit was done by a different prof but Claudia's videos were the best. Her notes were easy to follow and if you practice a lot, you'll definitely pass the exams. She also replies to emails and discussion board questions really quickly which is something that not every prof does

I had Claudia as my prof for two class (Math 249 and Stats 213), and she is amazing! She is always responsive to emails, is helpful, caring and teaches extremely well. I always feel comfortable asking her questions because of her kind demeanor. I don't think I would have done so well in these classes if it wasn't for her!

The best prof ever. She makes all the lecture material very easy to comprehend. Im lucky to have been in her class. There are weekly quizzes which cover the material for each week, which is understandable. They are fairly easy as long as you listen and attend. Would definitely recommend having her for any STAT class.

Super nice, she was very understanding of an emergency and is extremely good at teaching.

She teaches Stat very well, and gave us extra time during stressful times like the first quiz and at the end of the semester

Prof calls back to previously completed material in a comprehensive/relevant manner and really gives you an excellent understanding of concepts. Assignments and quizzes are simple if you do the textbook work. I aspire to have her level of organization, it's insane.

Claudia is a great prof but I'm just terrible at math. Her notes helped a lot but math 249 is a very hard class

Claudia is potentially the best TEACHER I have had at U of C. There's many Profs who are interesting to listen to but aren't as skilled in actually making their students understand, but Claudia is the full package. She made learning as easy as possible, with minimal clerical hurdles, every possible support to help learning is provided. Amazing!

Mahler was by far the best professor available for Math 249. Many students sought out her classes rather than attend their own lectures, and for good reason, as she by far is the best teacher. She genuinely cares for and supports her students, and will do her best to provide you with any additional support you may need.

Mahler is everything you would want in a professor- she is open and not condescending, teaches in a clear manner, and answers any questions you have. If you show up to her lectures, I would say that it's a guaranteed A -- I usually have a hard time with calc and she made it seem as if I was a natural at it all long. Pick her for your classes.

As someone who is not a math person, I was really worries that I would do poorly in this course. I was truly blessed when I got Mahler as a prof, she is such a gem. Her notes and lectures are structured so well and she was never condescending when you asked questions. Would definitely recommend!!

I had a completely asynchronous online STAT213 class and despite the overwhelming and intimidating nature of statistics, she made it amazing. Her explanations are so clear and specific and she will do everything in her power to make sure that you succeed!

Honestly a gem, best prof I've ever had. Very clear and thorough with explanations. lecture slides are great and have everything you need. Goes through many examples. Exams and assignments are very fair and she's super clear on what to expect from them. She obviously cares a lot about us and so long as you do some light studying, this class is an A

I was definitely worried about taking calculus in University due to most of my math learning being online in high school due to Covid. All of that was reassured as Claudia has engaging and easy lectures that made calculus easy to understand. I highly recommend her to anyone who isn't a math person and would love to take a course by her again.

Best Professor in the department by a mile!! She explains things simply and in different ways to help you understand better. She is the best teacher for those who aren't math-oriented, she just makes everything much more simple.

Best prof ever!!! She sends out email every week to remind us about any assignment/test/quiz. Exams are fair and cover all the things she mentioned in lecture. No tricky questions at all! A very thoughtful prof!

One of the best profs I have ever had

I remember in one of our first lectures, Mahler told us that she always had issues with math and learning the content when she was younger, and that is why she decided to pursue a career in teaching math, with a teaching philosophy that students like her old self would be able to learn math effectively. That tells you how great of a prof she is!

My class was done asynchronously online, but Claudia did a great job making the course very manageable. The content was shared through short videos, and detailed notes were provided. Tests were fair, and coursework was manageable. My only concern would be some lectures were recorded by TAs and accents and poor audio quality made it hard to follow.

Claudia is an amazing statistics and math professor. She's clear, well-paced, and friendly. If you have the opportunity to take her lecture... do it.

I was so nervous to take stats, but Claudia taught it in a way that made this my best class. She is a phenomenal teacher. She responds to all emails in great detail. Just make sure to fill in all the notes she provides, as they serve as a perfect reference for quizzes and assignments. Would recommend her to everyone and anyone.

You are very lucky if you have Claudia as a professor, because she is very clear in her lectures and makes labs, assignments, and midterms very easy. You won't have any trouble receiving a grade you want, if you actually try.

Would definitely recommend for stats, lectures were very clear and explained the content well, the assignments and class structure was also very clear. Not the easiest class but tons of resources provided. Taking stats 217 has made me realize how amazing of a prof Claudia is.

She is such an amazing prof. I had her for stats 213 and I cannot recommend her enough.

I have always struggled with math, usually scraping by with 50-60%. If you need math and struggle with it I can't recommend Claudia enough. She gets how daunting math is, makes sure everyone understands before moving on, makes step by step instructions for the harder topics, uploads notes before class and responds to emails clearly and quickly.

Claudia is one of the best professors you could have when it comes down to any MATH or STAT class. She teaches material very well and because of that you will most likely get a really good grade. Make sure to attend lectures or watch the online ones and complete the note packages and any quizzes, guaranteed you'll do great!

I would like to give her a kiss on the cheek. Dr. Mahler saved my life in STAT, she was super clear and concise and really understanding of any technical errors or slip ups. I sincerely hope to have her as a prof again in the near future!

This prof is seriously amazing... I'm horrible at math and she actually helped me achieve an understanding of calculus that I would never have dreamed. Her lectures are super clear, and offers a lot of resources outside of lecture times as well. If you ever get the chance to take a class with her jump at it!

Everyone calls her the STATs lady for a reason. I loved how Claudia always knew what's worth going in more detail over or for the level of the course. We don't need to have a complicated understanding of STATs for this course, and she knows that, but she always offers extra help and information on all topics. Most easygoing class I've taken by far.

The very best. Academic royalty!!! A stat course with Claudia is the equivalent of hitting an academic jackpot. Consider yourself lucky, sit back and enjoy how the course feels like a breeze compared to your other courses.

I cannot recommend her enough, seriously. If you struggle with math, Claudia is phenomenal. She breaks down concepts so clearly, provides steps for how to approach each problem and is so genuinely kind and sweet. I took Math 30-1 twice, almost failed twice. I took calc with her and I got high 60s. First time I have ever looked forward to math.

Mrs. Mahler is probably the best teacher for STATS 213. I've always had difficulty with Math related subjects, but she makes STATS VERY EASY to understand. She teaches it like you're truly a beginner. You can tell she really cares for your education by the way she teaches the content, provides a lot of resources, and the way her course is set up.

Personally, I never went to her in-person lectures. But her lecture notes and videos were amazing. The discussion board was super helpful in terms of answering questions related to the course. She is also very organized and definitely cares about her students' success. Although the weekly labs were a bit tedious, this class was my top this semester

Love her! Very to the point with her lectures, lots of examples, easy to follow notes. As long as you watch her videos or go to class, getting an A in her class will be easy. She also will post practice midterms that are almost exactly what are going to be on the midterm. She teaches it like we are beginners and wants you to succeed!

Mahler is the best professors out there, if you can get her for a class, take it with her. She goes at a nice steady pace, she is really easy to understand, her marking is fair and reasonable, she posts online lectures so if you miss a class you don't feel like you have fallen behind, exams are exactly as they are in the notes. She is amazing.

Mahler is an amazing prof, she posted recorded lecture videos to D2L in addition to holding in class lectures. Both lectures were very clear, and easy to follow along with. The course outlined was followed perfectly, it was a great class. If you have the chance to take a course with her, I recommend you do so.

Claudia is by far best prof i've ever had. The class itself gives you so many attempts to get a good grade. Plus she is so understanding, she responds so quickly (even if you email at 3am), and she's very sweet and leniant. All lectures are recorded and posted so you could technically do everything from home which is so helpful when reviewing.

Mahler had clear and concise lectures, that were interesting and easy to follow. The grading scale was super fair and if you did all the lab exercises you were guaranteed an A on the quizzes. The midterms were also relatively straightforward and fair as they complimented the lectures. Would definitely recommend taking any STAT course with her.

Incredible. Just amazing. Her lectures are easy to follow, and she goes to every single part of the process very slowly and clearly. Videos for review also available. There is quite a bit of graded work, but EVERYTHING (including midterms) are open-book, and very easy if you follow along.

Amazing professor! I had the other professor for the course and his lectures made no sense. I stopped going and watched Claudia's video lectures instead and I received 100% on every assignment/test. She is amazing at explaining the content and was always available to answer any questions or grading concerns. She truly cares about her students!

Such a sweetheart. Extremely thorough explainer in both her lectures and videos, which by the way (for stat213 at least) were identical, so at a certain point I stopped attending in person and still did alright.

One of the best professors I've had. She makes the material concise and easy to follow through. If you ever miss a lecture, you can catch up using her lecture videos which are super helpful. Exams were graded fairly and are easy as long as you study the examples and additional practice questions.

Mahler has a bright and sunny personality and a great teaching style that led to excellent lectures! She explained topics in detail to make sure we understood them well, and always asked us how we wanted to prioritize topic coverage in lectures as to make the most of them. Claudia is an amazing prof. She is passionate about what she teaches and really tries to help students understand the material while also keeping them accountable. She is a fair grader and if you pay attention in class, do all the assignment and exercises it is likely you will get a good grade.

She is the best prof I've had so far. Very caring, goes over many examples, uses visual aids to help us understand content. Heavy-ish courseload in STAT327, but no final exam. As long as you go to lectures/do the lab tasks you will do fine on the quizzes. There is a final project in this class, but I finished it in less than four hours with an A.

Best teacher I've ever had, full stop. She is nice and caring, her lectures are engaging, and she wants you to succeed in her class. She goes above and beyond to help her students, even hosting exam review sessions on the weekends. The material is somewhat difficult, but she makes it very understandable with her explanations. Highly recommend!

If you show up and follow along in the lectures you should be fine in scie 301. Posts completed/filled-in lecture notes as well as videos. Assignments are usually easy and the questions are sometimes similar to the lecture examples. Tutorials are also easy as you really only need to show up for the quiz dates. No final exam, just a final project.

Professor Mahler is one of the best profs I've had in UofC so far. She explains everything in very good detail, and she shows really good examples in lectures. She is also very good in responding back to emails.

Before Math 249 with Claudia, I was broke, homeless, 0 women, n my wife left me with my kids (that arent mine). After attending just one lecture with Claudia, my life flashed before my eyes and i was born again with the inspiration of Claudia and Andrew Tate. I felt safe after.

She's a good prof who lectures well, and is easy to ask questions. Nothing really unclear, but damn does she go slow. She's so slow it's hard for the content to be anything but crystal. That will likely be a positive for a lot of students, but it encouraged me to consistently skip the first few minutes of the 8 am lecture lol.

Format of the class made this class extremely easy, with infinite attempts on everything, her lectures were great though, made everything quite understandable.

Claudia Mahler is literally the reason why I did well in this class despite hating math. She wasn't even my actual professor, but her videos on D2L and zoom reviews were so helpful for exams and assignments. She's also so kind and understanding, so don't ever feel afraid to approach her with questions!!

All marks are done through online assignments, labs, quizzes, and "achievement activities". All assignments, labs and quizzes can be done as many times as needed before they are due; achievement activities can only be done once. All notes are available online, as well as the prof through the discussion boards for any questions.

Best prof of the semester. She explains everything very well in her lectures, but you can teach yourself when she uploads the notes. Lots of assignments but they have unlimited attempts.

I really liked her, but she went a little slow in classes sometimes. She was really good at answering any questions and going over topics thoroughly in class. She was also very helpful outside of class, and even gave up her Saturdays to do midterm reviews. She also had videos for each set of notes which were really nice.

Good at answering questions and making sure students understood the concepts. Sometimes goes at a bit of a slow pace, but explains each topic well.

There was no final for this class, all of your grades are done through assignments and quizzes online which you have unlimited attempts at doing. She is a great prof who explained concepts really well in lectures

Amazing prof. She always responds to questions to clarify material and goes through content very thoroughly. Lectures are slower paced which can be a negative but you can tell that she really cares about teaching this course and explaining the content clearly.

Mrs. Mahler has by far been my favourite prof! She goes through everything at the perfect pace, is very organized, and so nice. We only had a handful of quizzes in tut., weekly WebWork questions, and a final project, all of which were easy and enjoyable. She made learning stats and using R much less daunting. I highly recommend her for any class!

i would give her my entire life savings and my first born child if she asked for it. her lectures are so easy to understand and she makes learning calculus as easy to learn as breathing. i genuinely credit my success in this class 99% to her. i truly don't think it's possible to find a better professor

She was awesome. I would've got a better grade if I did the final. Her in-class examples were basically the same as what was on the exams. She held zoom meetings going through practice before exams which were also really helpful. She also posted everything which was super convenient when you couldn't make it to lectures.

Hands down a great calculus prof. If you struggle with math and need a good teacher, go with her if you can. She clearly cares about what she teaches.

I took the course 4.5 years ago, in Winter 2021. I don't remember details. I only remember she spends time to answer student's question a lot. When we have questions or problems regarding the class, she is very helping us!

She explains everything very clearly and goes over lots of examples in class. Just wants her students to do the best they can! Overall one of my favourite professors

Claudia was an amazing Calculus professor! She was really good at explaining difficult concepts and will always answer students' questions very thoroughly. You will always have practice questions and problems to prepare for tests and the workload wasn't that bad. If you are taking intro calc, pick her for sure.

Genuinely one of the most caring professors at university of Calgary. She puts in effort to teach students in class through lectures and is very accessible for additional help if you need it. She's very open to questions and willing to help students when they are stuck. Provides a lot of material to help prepare for exams as well.
