SHe is a little hard to understand but as long as you pay attention you will do fine.
If you don't use her exact methods when solving problems, even if you get the answers right, she will take off major points from tests and quizzes. Way more people are struggling in this class than should be. I learn so much more from the MyMathLab homework than in her class... which are taught entirely by powerpoint. Avoid her.
She has a very heavy accent that is very hard to understand. When you ask her questions she cannot understand what you're asking. She gives LOTS of quizzes that even if you do good on, she grades the tests so hard it's impossible to get A's and B's. I have never mmade anything but A's in math classes and am struggling in this class. Do Not Take.
I can't understand anything she says because of her accent and her handwriting is so horrible that I can't read it. I learned most of the material from the book.
Worst teacher I ever had in my life. Very thick accent and hard grader. I dont know who hired her but they made a huge mistake. Take anybody but her. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!
Cant understand her and she is a bad grader. DON'T TAKE HER!
Although she is hard to understand and grades harshly, she is willing to help you if you attend class regularly and show that you are serious about the class. She will also take that into consideration for your semester grade. She's a very nice lady, but if you aren't too good at math, I wouldn't recommend taking her.
Awful teacher. Do not take this teacher. Very hard to understand her and I very much question her knowledge on the material she is teaching. She definitely has a place on my list of top 5 worst teachers. I'm very upset I wasted my time and money on this class.
Do not take this teacher. Very unclear on the material she is teaching, of which she does not have a simple grasp. Messes with the time of the MathLab assignments due, such as setting some due at midnight and others due at noon. Very confusing. I know my work. She does not test fairly. Avoid her. If you care about your grade, avoid her.
she is extremely hard to understand, she posts homework assignments late. quiz grades are returned after the test is given. she is very nice tho.
Hard accent to understand at first, but you catch on after a week or two. Very nice lady. Lots of quizzes that are very hard. Grades on all steps of a problem so you can get partial credit even f you get the answer wrong. If you make an effort and ask for help she is easier when grading your quizzes and tests. Tests are crazy hard.
do not take her. her accent is very hard to understand and she is not good at explaining the material. she does not give partial credit and if you didn't find the answer HER way, many points will be deducted. you learn more from the MathLab than from class.
Her accent is understandable. If you're willing to try and show her you are trying she will help you at the end of the semester. She is one of the most forgiving professors you will ever have! She is genuinely a very nice person!! Yes, she is unclear a lot, but the SI sessions help. Just put forth the effort!
Math 1113: She has a thick accent, but still understandable. She answers questions. Homework is online and due each week. Sometimes, she will push back test and homework deadlines. Each homework ranges from 10-30 problems. The tests are normally over two chapters. They are easy if you pay attention and do the required work.
all I can say is DO NOT TAKE HER. Horrible teacher, accent is very hard to understand. She does not give partial credit and her tests are impossible. Worst decision I made was taking her.
Ms. Roper is a less than desireable teacher that's teaching a class that some may not find enjoyable. I like math, but her style of teaching made me dislike it just a little. Not very clear in explaining concepts, and her grading rubric was strange too. I'd try to find another professor for Pre-Calc if at all possible.
She was very difficult to understand throughout the course. Her accent is very thick and you have to repeat yourself multiple times until she can understand what you are asking. Quizzes are easy but the three midterms are crazy hard. Probably the worst class I've ever taken. I got straight A's in a my other courses except this one.
If you dont have a very good understanding of whatever type of mathy ou're taking with her then don't take her. She has a very thick accent and it also seems like she has a minor speech impedement on top of that. She also has major hearing problems so its just about impossible to ask questions. Her test are hard but sh'es nice. Overall DONT TAKE
It's best to stay out of her lectures. She does not explain thoroughly how to solve the equations and most of the time you can't understand her. and of coarse right before midterms, she assigns 3 homework sections with one she never lectured you on and that were "suppose to learn on our own." I've learned nothing.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! You will not learn a thing in this class. She is extremely unorganized and hard to understand because of her thick accent. When asking questions, she does not answer them clearly. Not trying to be mean or rude, just stating the truth. I am sure she is a good person, but she is not a good professor.
DO NOT HER. Her grading scale is fair-achieving a C is not difficult. However, if you would actually like to learn Math 1113 drop her immediately. She is disorganized and does not go over many examples. She is willing to help you and you will understand her accent after about 2 weeks. She is a poor instructor though. DROP HER CLASS.
I don't know why she even bothered including a syllabus. It was completely worthless throughout the semester because she was just that disorganized. She even moved a major test up two weeks before the syllabus date and then sent me a hateful email when I begged her not to do so. She will promise partial credit but will not give it. AVOID. AVOID.
Very helpful and gives plenty of examples. Wants you to do well. Does have an accent however it is not hard to understand. Tests are short answer, like any math test should be. She grades fairly and gives partial credit or full credit if she sees you understand the concept.
Roper is hard to understand both in that she has a thick accent and she will completely go off on tangents trying to explain a problem and it will only confuse you more. I spent hours trying to teach myself the principles on mymathlab. Also, her syllabus is basically non-existent. She's nice, but so. hard. to. follow.
Do NOT take her. She is the only professor I have ever given a review. It's because I'm warning you. She constantly forgets where she is in a problem, she has had numerous problems with simple math, and she is not helpful is class at all. Biggest problem- she is NOT clear.
For most of the semester I had no idea what she was saying. She has a thick accent that is extremely difficult to understand. I respect that, but she's also quite unfriendly so it makes it difficult to care. I question whether or not she ever knows what she's talking about. Her lectures are extremely disorganized. Avoid this class. And, slop. Slop.
If you are good at math and like your GPA stay away! I had never gotten below a B in math until this class. Nothing she teaches is on test and the way she explains stuff is terrible and sloppy. She gets mad easily if you are confused. 3 tests, final(no calculator), 11 Quizes, and HW. Stay away from her if at all possible!
She has a very thick accent so she can be hard to understand but if you show her you are trying she is more than happy to help and grades way easier. All her problems from her tests are from the homework and practice problems. I have gotten an A++ on the first 2 tests. If you like math and are good at it I highly recommend her! Otherwise stay away
She is not as bad as it seems. yes she has a strong accent, but don't let that distract you. She's funny and makes jokes time to time. her homework is usually about 8 to 15 questions which isn't bad at all. She is always willing to meet during office hours if you need help. she also moves around the due dates for homeworks if you are having trouble
DO NOT TAKE. She is very nice and sometimes funny, but is bad at teaching. She is extremely confusing and her tests are likewise.I had no clue what she was saying for weeks because English is her 2nd language and her accent is thick . I don't know why there is even a syllabus. I wasted my ink on it. I love math but this was a horrible experience.
She is pretty cool and funny. We had a couple of group quizzes, and her tests aren't too bad. She has a very strong accent, and isn't the best at explaining some things, but if you ask her to elaborate on it, she will. Extremely helpful. Doesn't really follow her syllabus that much towards the end of semester, but it benefits you when she does.
Basically the worst possible math teacher you can have. I was forced into a corner because it was either take her or an online course. really regretting not taking the online course....
10 quizzes, she drops the lowest 3. 3 exams followed by a cumulative final
Notes are not clear. Homework weekly. Thick accent. Does not go over all the material that is seen on tests. Explanations are not clear. Quizzes can be given at any time. HIGHLY recommend finding someone else or dropping the class if you get her.
Hard to understand 3 test a final at least 10 quizzes and lots of hw drops 3 quizzes all quizzes add up to be 15% each test15% and hw 20% final 20% focuses on harder material for test gives lots of extra credit chances to improves quiz grades go to office a lot If math is not your thing DO NOT TAKE I got an A in highschool and got a C in her class
Professor Roper is passionate about what she does and is willing to help. Very approachable. Some complain about her accent but I could understand her perfectly! Gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities so take advantage you will need it. Just study a lot and use the SI sessions!
Thick accent, difficult to understand, somewhat unclear about expectations, and disorganized. She takes an eternity to grade things as well. However, she offers a lot of extra credit opportunities and will give you the benefit of the doubt if you make a dumb mistake on a test (if you come to class). If you learn well on your own, you'll be fine.

I'm typically very good at math, and this class was so difficult to understand. You basically have to teach yourself everything. If you don't show, you may miss a pop quiz and never know it. She doesn't speak english very well. Must do all the online homework in order to understand anything.
DO NOT TAKE EVER. She is the worst Math teacher I have ever taken. I have never made below a B in math before this. Thick accent. If you ask for help she can be very rude. Nothing from quizzes or homework are on the tests. I took her in the fall and made an F. I took the same class with a new teacher this semester and made an A. DO NOT TAKE EVER!!
She is not as bad as everyone says. She is clear on what is expected, and she wants students to learn and work hard for their grade. Go to class because her examples reflect what are on the test and what is on mymathlab. test are usually short and can mark out a couple if you dont know how to do them. This is a learning class, not basic math.
Prof. Roper is hard to understand. Her Columbian accent is difficult to understand because she moves so fast, skipping steps while breaking down problems on the board which leaves her students confused. Would not have passed without SI sessions. Online HW due once a week. I DO NOT RECOMEND. I didn't listen to RMP reviews & regreted it !
She doesn't explain things clearly and jumps around to different problems then returning to the original out of nowhere. She gives quizzes in the last 3 minutes of class (I'm not kidding!!). I'm normally very good at math, now I'm just hoping I can pull out a B-. Do NOT take!
She was terrible. Very unorganized and HARD to understand through her accent. Doesn't know math or how to teach. DONT TAKE! I've never received anything lower than a B my entire life, I'm a math major, and i ended up with a D. I went to class everyday and studied my ass off. AVOID! She shouldn't have a job.
It took a while for me to get used to her teaching because she is all over the place. I never took notes. I learned everything from doing the homework on mymathlab and SI sessions. The only reason I went to class was because she took attendance and gave pop quizzes. Tests are easy and math is not my thing but was able to end with an A.
Her english is awful! Every time we asked a question we got "okay... uhm.... I dont know.." it was like being in a class with Consuela from Family Guy! At the beginning it was very easy because it was all from high school but as the class went on and she started introducing new things the language barrier ruined everything... DO NOT TAKE HER!
Professor Roper is by far the worst math teacher i have ever had. The past 4 years in high school, i have received A's in all of my math classes. There is no way i will receive even a B+ in this class. She is not clear when she teaches. She relies on the students to give her the answers and messes up all the time. Tests are tough.
if you did well in HS math, youll find her class impossible to pass. if you wanna actually learn the class pay attention to MyMathLab. often the class has to correct her work, as a foreigner i understand english is hard to master, but as a student its hard to understand the subject being taught when the professor cant explain it in multiple ways.
The class I took was Elementary Applied Calculus (1160). Please do yourself a favor and get someone else. Has VERY thick accent. Not willing to help you out and acts like you should just get it. Isn't thorough at all, everyone in the class of 20 was confused and left on their own. Also has trouble hearing, ended up dropping class. Couldn't be worse
Very thick accent and is super confusing when she teaches. She doesn't explain anything and expects you to get it. Her tests are very short and she DOES NOT GIVE PARTIAL CREDIT!!!! Assigns a lot of homework for one week so do not procrastinate in her class or you will fail. Study every day and go to the SI sessions. Drop the class if you can!!!
EXTREMELY difficult to understand, not to mention even if you do understand he, she is a terrible teacher. Will go over one time and move on and not clear what is on quizzes/tests.
This teacher is by far the WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. She does not care about her students or their grades, gives you a ton of homework due every week and is extremely hard to understand. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. It takes a lot of work and studying just to pass. And she will mark things wrong on tests and quizzes that she never mentioned.
I beg anyone that is reading this not to take this class. I had her for applied calculus and the only thing i was able to calculate is that I would not be passing her class. English is not her first Language, she has a very hard time giving feedback and didn't grade the tests till the final week of semester. TRUST ME find another class.
The class is hard by itself, but Professor Roper was actually really helpful. I didn't study for the first test and couple quizzes and had a C. Some people said she is not very helpful, however she is there for you if you ask. I ended up having an A with her help. She also gives extra points and drops incorrect questions on your tests. No textbook.
What ever you do avoid this "professor". Not only is she impossible to understand, she lacks basic teaching skills. Questions would be asked in class and she would literally ignore the question and walk away. No control over her class room. If your graduation hangs on taking her class, wait a semester.
Expect homework on connectmath due every week, lectures are long and confusing, but she teaches directly from the powerpoint. Book is not necessary but definitely helpful. Very difficult to understand (accent) and constantly gave confusing instructions. Office hours were better than class for help, but only slightly.
Her accent is hard to understand. She does go out of her way to give extra help if you come to class and do homework. Homework was not heavy. Learned most of the material through the homework. She has a tendency to have you work a problem in class then not go over the answer. Take good notes, do homework and come to math lab and you will do ok
I would recommend this class. A little hard to understand, but she is aware and tries to make herself as clear as possible. Professor Roper grades everything by the same percentage. Yes! Homework, classwork, tests, quizzes they all weigh the same. Easy A!
Statistics is not an easy class, but she gives you good examples and fair tests. I would take her again. If you do your homework, you won't have a problem. Others do not show up to class and complain.
Had to take her stats class on last resort.. You're basically on your own because she doesn't know how to teach. She has an extremely thick latin accent, and on top of that she can barely hear. Lots of homework every week and she gives pop quizzes too. I hated every second of that class, barely got out with a B. DON'T TAKE HER
She is a hard working teacher but sometimes her accent makes it hard to understand. Also, she doesn't fully explain things sometimes and it can get confusing. She also grades harshly so be very careful on tests and quizes.
She has a difficult time just plain explaining topics since her English isn't that great paired with a thick accent. Her teaching style makes learning highly basic concepts extremely difficult. Didn't learn anything in class, but still had to attend because of random quizzes. If you take this class you will teach yourself.
She is probably one of the hardest teachers I've ever had. People in the class have already taken it and are failing because she does not stick to the normal statistics course. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Confuses herself and the class in the process. Does not care for what anyone in the class has to say, even when the entire class is making an attempt to tell her how ridiculous she is being. Specific issue: told me I did not do my test corrections correctly and refused to let me correct it and gave another student a few rows away the opportunity...
Worst professor I have ever taken. Went to every class, paid attention, and ended up with a D in the course. She is unclear on how to do the actual math and does not do a great job at explaining. If she is the last option, I do believe you can pass if you're able to teach yourself the material. I ended up taking 1111 with a diff. prof. and got an A
She's tge worst, I often wonder if she even knows what she teaches.
this is the worst professor I have ever had. 10/10 recommend teaching yourself over taking Claudia. she grades her tests very hard, they're not like the homework at all, which is the only other thing you do in this class other than listen to her ramble and ask, "do we agree?" we do not agree, Claudia.
I don't think I have ever been more irritated, confused, angered, and overall ripped off by a professor. She confuses herself daily, makes things more difficult than they should be, and gives tests nowhere close to homework. Please do yourself a favor and do not take her. She doesn't answer a single email and doesn't listen to advice/questions.
The class was incredibly easy. She lets you leave 2 or 3 questions blank on exams to count as right. I didn't study. Just did the HW's and show up to class. Easiest A, you'll ever get
Rude, heavy accent, and promised to meet me outside of class and never did.
Ten seconds into the class 90 percent walked out. No introduction, heavy accent, consistently rude, condescending, inexperienced, low willingness to help, made math suck. One of two C's I've ever gotten. Unfamiliar quiz questions. Did not give you time to study on your own, had to depend on her unclear lectures. Clear ego problem. Worst professor.
She does not teach, answer questions, post study guides, or do reviews for tests unless you beg. You will do far better in this class if you ignore everything she says and manage a way to teach yourself. If you're not a sufficient self-teacher I would not recommend this professor. The only pro is she drops one test/two quizzes for your final grade.
DO NOT TAKE THIS LADY'S CLASS. IT'S NOT WORTH THE STRESS AT ALL!
DO NOT take her if you have the chance. She has a super heavy accent and does not explain anything well at all. If you can not teach yourself then you will have a hard time in this class. She also is always late to class.
Has accent so hard to understand if you are good at math she is good if you aren't she is very difficult attendance not mandatory but you will get behind if you miss easy quizzes and test if you watch review and take good notes only 18 homework 8 quizzes 4 test and cumulative final
Ngl this one is tough. I guess its cause she has many classes to teach. Now this can just fall into the realm of all of this math being useless cause non-stem majors do not need it which I wish she just give everyone an A. Some of these professors dont understand the pain of learning stuff that is useless to our major. You need godlike help to pass
I really enjoyed her class. It was super easy to me and I maintained a 95 average all the way until the last couple weeks. At first I struggled to understand her accent but I got used to it quick. I know some students struggled in her class but as long as you know how to use the calculator youll be fine.
Unless you are prepared to teach yourself every single thing in this course, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. Professor Roper barely goes over a new concept and then skips past the review questions to an entirely new concept. I learn more from ALEKS than I do sitting in her class. A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!
Just don't take this class with her. Voice is like nails on a chalk board and does not explain content well at all. Be prepared to teach yourself if you take her course.
This professor is terrible. Very test heavy with heavy lectures, and her lectures go too fast. She blows through the material and it leaves you confused. I have taught this entire course to myself. Do not take her if you can help it. If you don't go to class, you most likely won't pass, but if you do, try to pay attention as much as you can.
I'm usually good at math but this is the most I've struggled in a math class. she is terrible at teaching and gets annoyed when we don't understand. Youre gonna have to teach yourself most of the material on your own time. On top of that she has a very strong accent and an annoying voice so I would definitely recommend not to take this class
The definition of a power point professor. Difficult to understand (She has a strong accent). Rarely responds to email. Can be very rude towards students. Prepare to study outside of class, skims over important material and gives little explanation.
I only got an A because I taught myself and suffered through the semester. Professor Roper is not good at teaching and is extremely rude, She will yell at you for making a peep in her class and her half of the material on her tests she does not teach. The only positive is she is likely to reopen homework if you miss it. DO NOT take this class.
She's literally the type of professor I actively avoid. She's rude and degrading. The things she assigns for homework are at a much lower level than the test and the things she goes over in her "lectures." Please try and get a different professor for your stat class and thank me later.
She is a little hard to understand, but gives lots of time to do homework
She does not test over what is taught
Do not take this professor unless you have the time to teach it to yourself everyday. She is very hard to understand and very demeaning to students for simply asking a question. Misspeaks often in class about the material and leaves the whole class confused. The only reason I have an A in this class is countless hours of teaching it to myself.
doesn't like to teach, reads everything in class and it is very hard to understand what she says. If you complain about it she will tell you to go to the tutors if you want to learn. Uses a microphone that is very loud and makes high pitch sounds. DO NOT take this class, you will hate stat because of her.
Doesnt allow retakes, has a heavy accent so hard to understand, gives out random quizzes, and test are not the same as what she goes over. AVOID AT ALL COST.
This class was absolutely horrible. This professor made everything 10 time more difficult and I could barely understand her accent 90% of the time. She only takes attendance sometimes so you have to go to every class. Some quizzes are in person on paper and some are online with lockdown browser with webcam. The tests are lockdown with webcam also.
She changes how much each assignment weights after you do, she plays Russian roulette with people's grades and the material she teaches does not match the test, I have been to every single one of her classes to prove this. - beware of pop quizzes - Avoid this class like your life depends on it.
one of the worst professors I ever had; she wasn't a clear grader, she didn't answer questions clearly, and she was rude when she did answer the questions. She's a slow grader. The way that she explains stuff is not easy to understand, and she goes very fast.
