BEST professor I've had at HCC. He is super helpful & patient and he will break everything down to the simplest elements and makes sure everyone understands. He teachers in a completely different style than most prof., in which he engages class participation and encourages us to help each other. Go to class u'll learn w/o realizing it!
Loved this teacher!!! He's a newer teacher, but take him if u can. Would sit through his 8hr class any day over any other chem prof. @ HCC. He loves teaching and his students. Go to class & participate, not only will it be an easy A, you'll be surprised at how much you learn about chemistry. His class is super organized w/ a very helpful website.
im in LOVE with DR Carra :X you should go to class do the homework, participate in teaching, solving problems, labs and everything, but ull learn loadz. im master at chem1412 becoz of this lovely guy.....wish i could have more classes with himmmm :/
Highly recommend his class. I just got A from his class, He makes chemistry easy and fun. If you want enroll his class, RUN! his class closes so fast.
Dr. Carra is the best chemistry professor. He's class is easy as long as you do your homework. Also, you can accumulate points during the semester and you gonna learn more than you expect. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM if you have to take chem II. Do not think twice to enroll for this class, just go ahead and do it.
Prof. Carra is great! TAKE HIS CLASS WHILE YOU CAN! He gives MANY EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES! Re-write your notes, write a paragraph summary for homework, and come to class at the end of the semester for extra credit games and you're guaranteed an A! STOP READING THIS & REGISTER FOR HIS CLASS!!
Definitely take Chem II at HCC with Dr. Carra. Gives extra points for homework and notes. Extremely nice guy, wants to help. Just go to lab, show that you are putting in effort and you will pass. SOO much better than taking it at UH.
Dr. Carra is simply the best teacher to take 1412. You will not only pass with flying colors, you will be able to solve problems on your own. You will love chemistry. Homeworks are mandatory and helpful.
Carra is an excellent prof. Very nice guy and extremely helpful. Gives lots of opportunities to make an A.He understands that not everyone is good in chem- he is very intelligent. He is always in a good mood and is HOT!I still dont like chem but I wish I could take all my classes from him.
The best chemistry ever. Its not that hes easy that gives it away. This man teaches so well that he makes you want to learn it. He is kind, helpful, honest, caring, AND hes never pissed! Great attitude, high energy, explains everything well. Awesome teacher, very respectful and SMART. Take him or else you will regret it. I got an A!!
mr carra is funny and he is cool. but this is it, yu only have one final in his class, no test,no quiz. the only way yu get points is writing class notes nad homework, and yu have to write your notes twice. but he is super good when it comes to explaning stuff
Great teacher! A lot of HW and rewriting class notes but its worth it! If you do all the HW, you do learn like it or not. I hated the idea of taking chemistry 1402 but taking it with him I got an A. Take him you won't regret it. A very interesting class and plus he's hot! Wish I could take all my classes with him.
I actually had a lab with him at UHD, and that was one of the best professors I have ever had. He is very funny, kind, gives clear explanations. Just follow his rules and you'll be fine. He is not too strict. Highly recommend!!!
Great teacher. Just what each student needs at HCC. Tons of extra credit...highly recommend taking him. Easy and fun. We had 1 test and all the bonus you could want. No reason not to get an easy A.
Good Professor! Funny!
Professor Carra is the best professor among the best. His class was flawless and I highly recommend it for everyone. Thank you Dr. Carra for being patient, helpful and such a wonderful professor PERIOD :)
He is the best.
best professor ever
He's the best teacher in the universe, very high energy, funny, and really cares about his students. Make sure to show that you care too. There is only one grade in the whole course and it's the hcc system final, so don't mess up. I got an A. Thank you Dr. Carra!!!
Unique teaching style made for a stress-free learning environment where class was fun. Very professional and angel-like temper.Always patient with student questions and willing to stay after class to help. Not a lot of pressure so easy to get lazy but if you have discipline to keep up you will be happy you took class with him. had lost of fun thanks
This professor is difficult if you don't have a good knowledge base of chemistry. TONs of homework, about 30 problems per class period which was twice a week and it's due the following class day. All homework has to be typed into a word document and submitted through(turnitin). Hard exams. Textbook required. Teacher has thick accent.
He is not a good professor at all.. plz don't waste your time like I did ! Too much homework and heavy accent.
Well he gives too much homework ! His accent is way to heavy ! He really is not a good professor at all...
Do not take him! Such a horrible prof!! Wasted my time,he just regurgitates the books powerpoints, he is useless! DO NOT! ur warned!
Nice but rigorous. Lots of work but you learn a lot. I loved him and his class
Dr Carra is the best prof I ever had. I'm taking his class and he is clear and nice. Yes some work load, but at the end the grades are high. He really tries to explains things clearly. I wish all prof were like him.
He speaks with an accent but he is quite clear to me. He explains well, breaking down everything. Lots of points, and chances to get A. The workload is high, but fair. I recommend him, but don't be lazy....
Impossibly difficult class. I couldn't understand a word that came out of his mouth due to heavy accent so my class notes were nonexistent. Tried recording lecture & listening to it was torture all over again. Homework is excessive & due every class period. 1-5 Points earned for HW, quiz, labs & U will get a zero if not done to his specifications.
I like his way of teaching. Lots of work but than he gets loose and allows a lot of extra point added to the final. Almost impossible not to get an A if you do what he says.
The best chem teacher I've ever had. He's always trying to find ways to explain chemistry so that it is easy to understand. Your final grade is the final exam but you can get lots of extra points over the semester. If you can't pass chem with this guy, science is not for you.
This professor is Unbelievably hard. its a lot of work for 1 point or 2. im not saying its impossible but you cant be lazy. he teaches you how to study. there is only one chance in life and one chance in his class. you have been warned.
He is a great teacher. He is tough, you have a lot of work, but also lots of chances to get points which are accumulated at the end. I got A, and I enjoyed his class. You learn a lot. He was always nice and willing to explain several times. He has a small accent but I could understand very well. I strong recommend him. Thanks Dr Carra, you rock!!
He is really the best instructor ever. Passionate, funny and smart. Very prepared. He has a web site with all the info of the class. Extremely organized. Lots of work though, but worth it. thanks, i love your class!
If you re serious about Chem, please take him. Best teacher so far of HCC. His instructions are clear, a little bit of hardwork. But all is paid off. I really enjoy his class. You may be scared by his syllabus and the first class, but he ended up very nice and helpful. I dont like his class, I love it.
The best chemistry teacher I know. He is passionate about it. A lot of homework, but chemistry is easy to understand with him.
Tests are complicated and written in a way to confuse you. Lots of homework and labs,if not done the way he wants you get no points. He belittled the class a couple of times by saying Kindergarten kids could get it or would get frustrated when the answer was not given quickly. TAKE his class if you are looking to be a chem wizard.
best professor ever at HCC. Passionate, very intelligent and funny. I love chemistry after him. I did what he said to do and I got A. Love him!
Tests are complicated and written in a way to confuse you. Lots of homework and labs, if not done the way he wants you get no points. He gets mad if you cannot answer his questions quickly. Plenty of time you don’t understand what he saying. He gives extra credit but it still hard to get a decent grade because she test are so hard and confusing.
the best ever, i really like him. very prepared and his class is foll of options to get points. I did everything and my A was certain
He is simply great. people who rated him low are just lazy. It is true that he gives a lot of homework and labs, but the tests are on the programs and he does great games as examples. I learned a lot. But if you don't know how to use a calculator, don't take his class
He is the best professor that HCC has. He is a bit rigorous, lots of work, but you learn a lot. I enjoy his class and i recommend him if you wanna learn chemistry. He is funny and he is clear in the explanations.
He is the best instructor ever. I had a great time. He teach with passion and charisma. lots of work, but he rewards wit points. Thanks Dr Carra, you rock!!
Dr.Carra is a great professor. He is always open to the students if they have any questions. You HAVE to keep up with the work in order to get good grades. The labs are really straight forward the test are a little hard but he does reviews in class to help you pass. I did all the labs took all the notes and recieved an A in return. Take him!
he's funny, nice and competent. I got A, lots of homework, but all went well. I really like him. I think is the best HCC prof ever! Thanks Dr Carra!!!
He is a great teacher and there is a lot of work but it helps to prepare you for the tests and will help to increase your grade. He is really a teacher who wants everyone to do well, you just have to do the work.
Dr Carra is a very demanding professor. A lot of assignments and homework. He explains well the classes, he pushes the student to prepare them to 4 y college. He gives, however, lots of points which are added to the final grade. Thanks to him now I'm doing very well at UT. It was not easy but I got A, now I'm very glad I took his class.
He is unique, perfect, knowledgeable, and helpful. He gives extra credits. He teaches very well and generous professor.
He is the best Chemistry professor I've had, he gives you lots of problems for practive and if you do practice you should be able to ace all of your exams. Don't be afraid by the huge amount of homework because they are there to help you with points towards your final grade and overall understanding. Take him if you want to learn and pass Chemistry
I don't like chemistry, but Professor Carra made it my second favorite course this semester. He's awesome, doesn't teach stupid things even if they're in the book (his industry experience helps him cut to the chase), and still gets you to learn the material.
Professor Carra definitely gives students opportunities to make an A in this class. However, students HAVE to work. It is easy to pass the class, as long as you follow along during lectures. He is is helpful and will take out the time for his students.
professor Cara loves to teach he will go over the problems with you till you understand he also gives resource material to help you. take him. you have to work but you won't regret it
Great teacher, tons of opportunity to get an A
Prof. Carra is very passionate about chemistry. He wants to see everyone pass in his class. His class requires A LOT of WORK!!!! I made a D'on all three exams in his class & still manage to pass with a B'. Prof. Carra will work with you if you do your best in his class. Do all your homework, turn in labs, attend class & participate. You will pass!!
Love this professor teaching style. He skips the useless stuff you wont need for the class and even rewrote tests to make sure those thinks he skip are not in it. Tons of extra credit opportunity towards total average grade and good sense of humor. Did bad on exams but the final and extra credit carried me to a B.
Best professor ever! In the beginning of the class, he will try to scare off the ones who are not willing to try, but honestly his class wasn't bad at all. He gives a lot of extra credit! I mean ALOT! I failed the first exam, passed the second, but will be ending the semester the semester with an A! Exam questions do come from the lecture!
GOOD LUCK IN HIS CLASS YOU NEED IT
best professor ever!!! lots of points, but lots of work. Follow what he says and you'll get and A. Very motivating and supportive. You will learn a lot
class is a little TOO easy. If you think this is doing you a favor just wait till you step foot into orgo two and if you don't know anything from 1 you are in trouble. He is so funny and easy-going made class fun. Labs were super easy. He knows his stuff but you need discipline or will be complacent for easy grade.
Best professor ever. Makes everything that seems difficult so easy to understand. Gives extra credit but you have to work for it. I will definitely be taking him for chem 1412
Prof. Carra is so passionate about Chemistry-it's actually infectious. Lots of hw but to your benefit- do the hw, labs, notes, and you're golden. Bonus: he's hilarious, and makes things easy to understand. Gets a bit testy w questions when he's covered the material beforehand-Kind of prof that you'll remember bc he truly 3s his subject matter.
Dr Carra is very funny and he tries very hard to help the students. lots of work, though, but lots of extra points. I'm doing good, but I had to sweat a lot. But i guess I'm learning and getting ready for 4y college...
Professor Carra made Chemistry a walk in the park. This was my second time taking Chem 1 but unlike my other professor, Professor Carra only taught stuff necessary for tests and taught easier ways to do problems than what the book suggested. If you do all of the homework even if its a lot, DO IT! It really helps you get the hang of the chapters.
I took 2 years of Chemistry in high school (I'm still in high school) prior to taking this class and I learned nothing from that teacher. I took him for a 5 week course and understood pretty much everything. His accent is a bit strong but he will repeat what he said as long as you ask.
He posts the homework online so you don't really need a textbook. Doesn't actually grade homework just checks if its done. Test were easy if you study the material on your own, but you won't really get help from him. Like how I said unless you're willing to be a teachers pet. So save your time and take a better professor.
He have a strong accent. His tests are super hard. 95% of students in the class got less than 50 on his 1st and 2nd test. NO curves. Lots and lots of extra credit, that might help you to get an A in this class. He only likes the people who are smart. HE will make fun of you, infront of class, if you got a bad grade or a bad lab results.
Greatttttt teacher, you'll pass easily thanks to extra credit, but keep in mind you earn your grade the teacher doesn't give it to you .he can only do so much in the classroom, keep in mind chemistry is a hard topic so 2 classes per week alone is not nearly enough time to pass this course, you MUST MUST MUST study on your own time to do well
This is the toughest class for me, not only that chemistry is a hard class,to have a professor that do not care whether you pass or fail makes it worst. This professor knows chemistry but do not have a clue of how to teach it to someone else. one thing i will advice any student that is taking his class please do all the home work he gave to class
super nice and prepared. is has an accent but its easy to understand. lots of points, hard grader, but if you read the book and you the homework its an easy A.
He posts the homework online so you don't really need a textbook. Doesn't actually grade homework just checks if its done. Test were easy if you study the material on your own, easy A if you study a bit and do your homework
Do not take this professor, coming from a passionate chem major.. He made my semester a living nightmare, class starts at 2:00, but he won't get there until 3:00-3:30. He doesn't care about lectures, he is never prepared for labs. He has a thick french/italian accent, I couldnt understand him. Makes you feel stupid for asking questions.
If you re serious about Chem, please take him. Best teacher so far of HCC. His instructions are clear, a little bit of hardwork. But all is paid off. I really enjoy his class. You may be scared by his syllabus and the first class, but he ended up very nice and helpful. I don't like his class, I love it.
He is a great teacher. He is tough, you have a lot of work, but also lots of chances to get points which are accumulated at the end. I enjoyed his class. You learn a lot. He was always nice and willing to explain several times. He has a small accent but I could understand very well. I strong recommend him. Thanks Dr Carra, you rock!!
He started off ok. However, the homework online is RIDICULOUS and time consuming. No clear grading criteria for lab reports. He waited till almost end of semester to start grading them. Would have been nice if he graded as I could learn how to write a proper lab report. Save yourself and your gpa and DO NOT take this teacher.
I took 1 years of Chemistry in high school, I'm still in high school, and before taking his class I learned nothing from that other teachers. I took him for a 5 week course and I got pretty much everything. His has an accent, he but he will repeat what he said if you ask. lot's of points, easy tests!
Dr Carra helps a lot, tells us how to write the lab report. But lots of work. The homework is a bit hard, but once done, all is easy. tests are easy, lots of points. If you want an A , that's your prof!!
Dr. Carra is an amazing professor clearly passionate about chemistry. If you follow his rules, an A is absolutely achievable. Plus he's super cute.
He is overall really nice but he is very unorganised. I don't think he is easy at all and its a lot of work. You have to teach yourself and the homework is really hard. Please don't take this class if you are not willing to teach yourself. He is nice but that doesn't mean he is a good teacher.
Dr Carra is very nice and funny. he has an accent, but it's easy to understand him. he really cares and tries to give high grades with lots of points. Tests are easy, labs ok but he wants lab reports, but he helps to write them. Once you do the homework, A is assured. I'll take him again.
This professor is funny and seems like he tries to help students but his accent makes it extremely hard to understand him. He also lectures quite fast and sometimes chastises you for asking a question you should know. If you're prepared to teach yourself then take him. Our class was full 1st week and before we even took the first test half dropped.
Dr Carra is funny but sometimes sarcastic. he helps students by giving them a lot of extra credit, but the participation and good answers in class are required for points. Heavy home work, though. I'm doing ok, but I had to work hard. Don't take him if you are lazy, or looking for an easy C...
Ok. literally how he replied to one of my emails but that's not the point he is funny but 99.9% of the time I was confused in his class failed his 3 tests somehow passed the final did all the pearson hw and got a 50 on it did well on the labs ended up with a B in his class Now if thats not a miracle idk what is fyi this is coming from a chem hater
He's pretty funny.. He's not clear on what to study for the test, but take him on your own risk. I got 70's on both his test and he gave me an A. He's not an easy professor, but not that hard either. you just need to work a little to get the grade you want.
I'll take him again for chem 1412. He helped with a lot of points, even if I passed only one test, I got A. I guess I've learned a lot. Lots of bad comment are for lazy classmate. If you do the work, you'll get A!! thank you Dr Carra
He is kinda all over the place with his lectures but easy class overall. gives extra credit.
His class can be very easy if you just do the work. Hes not one of those professors that make it horribly hard. I hate science, and actually enjoyed taking his class.
Took him for Summer I. Lectures are all over the place, but will go back if needed. Homewrk makes no sense, but is worth 15% of total grd. He does give a ton of extra pts, so make sure to attend class. There are outlines for each lab report. Mostly late, be ready to wait the first 10-30 mins of class. Will try to pass you. Overall a decent teacher.
Very nice and cool but he's 20-40 minutes late to class every day and he's very unorganized. He doesn't give a Final Exam Review but if you're good at teaching yourself, you'll be okay. The tests are kinda hard so S T U D Y H A R D!!! This class takes a lot of time and energy unless you're naturally good at science.
I took the lab with him and i got A. he let me fix the lab reports. If you do them well, you pass easy. no final test, just lab reports.
wow, Dr Carra is tough, but nice and caring. He really tries to help. He has an accent and speaks fast, but I understand him well and i enjoy his classes. Tests are not hard, based on lectures. Lots of work, and extra credit. I recommend him if you are not scared to work, where you'll get for sure A, but if you plan an easy C, forget about it!
The best professor at HCC. Caring, funny, &respectful. He will help you to get the best grade. Due to my hard situation I talked to him and he allowed me a second chance to retake the class. I could never thank him enough and I totally recommend him to anyone. 3 tests, drops the lowest. Tests are not easy though so you definitely have to study hard
Dr Carra is phenomenon, i struggled to pass all my tests but with the extra credit I still got B. He really tries to help, but a lot of homework. Answer his question in class and you get points. He makes jokes on you sometimes, but just for fun, he is not offensive at all. he teaches well, but the time was short. I'll take him for chem1412.
There are 3 exams in the semester, & he does drop one exam score. However, it is extremely annoying when starts to give lectures when he starts saying that he wants to go home already. He gives the presentation in class & then when you go do the homework & test, it is not similar to what he taught at all. I had to teach myself and barely got a B!
If you want to learn chemistry and pass with A, TAKE HIM. He gives tons of extra credit, and he will help you in every way he can. He just wants to see that you're really putting efforts. TEST REVIEWS ARE SMILIER TO TESTS, if you solve them you'll have no problem with tests or final. Study, do the homework and make sure you pass at least two tests.
He's very nice, gives a lot of extra credits, so if you are at C grade it can boost you up to A. You just need to pass 2 exams. Exams are not hard, much easier from the homework
I took him for chem 1311 and 1111, the lab, and he was nice. I just did the lab reports, no tests, and I got an A. You cannot skip the lab, or you get -10 points. I enjoyed and I guess I learned quite a lot. Lecture was cool, he is quite clear, I did the home tests and quizzes, and that helped a lot for the tests. I got an A there too. I recommend
I am so grateful for prof Carra. I took his class over the summer and needless to say chemistry is not my forte but with all the extra credit I managed to scrape by. I failed all of the exams but had 30 points worth of extra points to add on to my total grade. He's also by far one of the funniest people I've met never failing to make me laugh.
The homework is useless and doesnt provide feedback so you dont know what you did wrong. You only pass by extra credit not actually learning anything. I suggest you take someone else.
Study yourself because u wont understand much from him. He's bad at teaching but good at giving extra points and making jokes. If youre planning to advance to chem 2 or organic chem etc, dont take this class. He is unorganized, late to classes by 30 mins, ends classes 1 hour early. Makes simple concepts difficult to understand. LAZY n slow response
I learned better from the book, he provides a lot of extra credit though. There's also a heavy workload when it comes to homework, take home tests, etc.
Dr Carra is no joke! he can be funny, but his tests are hard and lots of homework. If you do what he says, and you do most of the assignments, you get A. You need just to pass 2 tests to get A. I don't know anybody else who is so helpful. Still, workload is high, but i guess that's just chem... Don't take him if you hope for an easy C.
Excellent teacher, you'll pass easily thanks to extra credit, but earn your grade the teacher doesn't give it to you. he is caring the tries to help. keep in mind chemistry is a hard topic so 2 classes per week alone is not nearly enough time to pass this course, you MUST study on your own time to do well.
Give a lot of extra credit. Labs, tests are easy. He tests exactly on what he Teaches so take notes. Be prepared to teach yourself chem because he teaches fast. Lectures are not organized. Not clear instruction. forget what he said so keep reminding him. He is funny and has deep understanding in chemistry so its fun to discuss with him. Easy A.
Hes funny and gives tons of extra credit but dont let that fool you. I personally stopped doing the hw and quiz and made sure I passed my exams and did all the extra credit and I got an A. I loved how he explained things when I reached out after class. STUDY STUDY. Im taking him again for chem 2!
Lectures were a huge waste of time. It's hard to understand him, when he writes on the board it is very hard to read. He does know his stuff, he's just really bad at teaching it. Personally, I am going to take this class again with a different professor. This class was a huge waste of time, labs were very fun and interesting though.
Good luck, that's all I can say. He is funny and gives the opportunity for a lot of extra credit, but exams are very tough. If you pass 2 exams, you will pass, but it's hard to do that. I suggest doing everything he says, including ALL the bonus stuff. You will work hard, but you can pass if you put in the work.
I don't recommend this professor. He doesn't care about his lectures or labs. Must of my classmates failed their exams. Get ready to learn chem by yourself.
I used to hate Chemistry in high school but he's the first professor to make me love it! Of course it's Chemistry so it's not easy, so you have to work hard for the tests. However he gives lots of extra credits too, he just want you to try your best in studying and gives you a decent grade for that. A very funny and lovely man too! I will miss him
Chemistry is a tough subject and his class is not easy by any means, you will have to work for your grade. Pass 2 tests and you'll get an A, there is also a lot of extra credit, and a lot of homework. Although it may sound easy to pass, it is not, you have to work for it, but he is a great professor and I enjoyed his class, take him!
As smart of a man Professor Carra is, he speeds through lectures, will give you lots of homework over it, as well as grading extremely hard on exams. Missing so much as a conversion unit will drop you a letter grade. He gives you 4 exams and does not drop any. If you work full-time or are taking another science course, I wouldn't recommend him.
He is disorganized. I took chemistry 1 with him and I barely got a C. I took chemistry 2 with another professor and I almost made an A. Chemistry 2 is way harder. He doesnt give out formula we basically have to remember everything which makes the exams harder dont take him!! I recommend take someone else
the lab was fun, he is really prepared, lots of lab reports, but once done it's an easy A. I recommend him
Took online CHEM 1412 with him. He's a nice teacher and will give you extra credits if you show him your notes and extra homework. However, be ready to lose a lot of point for "explanation?" "units?" from his free response questions in the test. I hope he would be more specific.
his tests are hard, and no formulasheet till the final. But t the end although I was failing, he added the extra credit and I manage do get a B. But still, lot of work. I recommend him
Dr Carra is a very demanding prof, however it helps a lot with a lot of extra credit. It was hard but I learned a lot, I think is the best instructor at HCC
I did the lab online chem 1111, and it was easy and clear, all online, I did all the assignments and I got A. He helped how to do some virtual labs, ad he gave extra time for assignments.
he is the best instructor I had at HCC. His lectures are clear but he has an accent, so you have to be focused. He know what he is talking about and he tries to help. I got A even if I failed one exam. lots of point if you do the assignments. I would take him again
i like his lectures. Even if the class was online, no lectures, he gave review sessions at different time to try to accommodate everybody. He was clear and I got a lot of point because I asked questions. But a lot of work, no formula sheet till the final. But a lot of extra credit. if you are not worried to study a lot, he is your guy!
I took chem 1111 for my major. It was online, and I did all the assignments, he gave me A. No final test, just virtual labs. I had a problem with 2 of them. I asked him, he helped me with zoom sharing the screen. He was available. Labs not too hard. I'm take 1412 this semester, hopefully it will be ok.
I could not retain any information with this professor. I have taken other chemistry professors with an apparent coherence. He is a good person ready to help but I can get scrambled with his way of teaching.
Took him for online and hes extremely disrespectful. Refuses to record lectures despite you asking for ur own help, yells at you for minuscule things like expecting him to read the chat on cisco webex since he says you must talk or else he wont care to listen. Bad with technology, late on starting class. Get ready to teach yourself
This professor teaches as if you are already familiar with the material. He reads from the powerpoint. Homework is given using the publisher, but he will tell you to skip some concepts. However, these skipped concepts will still be used in the homework and tests.
you will have to work for your grade. Pass min 2 tests and can get an A, there is also a lot of extra credit, and a lot of homework :( . Although it may sound easy to pass, it is not, you have to work for it, but he is a nice professor and I enjoyed his class, I recommend him!
I was failing the class, he let me upload my late lab reports and he curved the online work by adding the credit to the questions he said in class to skip. At the end I ended up with a B. He seemed hard at the beginning, then he got nice and very caring. I guess that's his way to push us to work harder... Overall, he is a great prof.
Professor Carra is not a teacher you would want. His instructions are unclear and when you ask him to specify, he is very rude and gives attitude. When trying to contact him about assignments he rarely responds back and when he does it's a sentence. He lets us redo labs, but that is if he remembers to open it for you, which won't happen.
This professor is okay. You definitely have to work for your grade. He is not clear about his grading system. I did not know my final grade until the end of the semester (he marked all assignments as zeros until you completed them). Overall he probably does well as an in-person professor, but not as an online professor in my opinion.
he is quite though and demanding, but I did all the assignments and the extra credit. I god A just by passing 2 tests. He seems hard at the beginning, then he gets very nice and helpful. He as an accent but I can get him quite well when he speaks. I like his lectures. I'll take him again for gen chem 2.
I worked really hard for this class, and I was barely passing. Because of the extra credit I got a B. He seems strict at the beginning, then he becomes understanding and nice. Lectures are nice, with videos that helps. He is available for questions. He meet with student anytime, even on Sun. I'll take him again.
The content is hard, but he gives you a lot of ways to get extra credit. I took him for chem 1 and chem 2. I got an A for chem 1 and a C for chem 2. His classes are a lot of work, but I strongly recommend him. He is very supportive and very helpful. He goes out of his way for a lot of students. Very thankful for him!!!
the best! lots of easy extra credit/ time consuming class. PARTICIPATE in lecture/speak up. Dr. Carra in my opinion was hilarious (italian accent /dry humor/ dad jokes). he truly cares, will help you, if theres communication as a class he'll move due dates around to see what works best for everyone. tough lab report grader, pass 2 test your good
Prof Carra is amazing. He cares for the success of his students and he is always available to help via zoom. As for the work, you do have to study pretty hard but it isn't horrible. There are review questions and a lot of extra points. Labs are easy with the videos but he is demanding in the lab reports. Get him!
Dr Carra set up the work environment nicely, plenty of videos and material to study. The lab were interesting, he changed them sometimes from the manual, but they are cool. He likes chemistry a lot, and he helps for the lab report. I got an A. I feel I learned a lot.
Professor Carra was a really nice and understanding person during my CHEM1412 class. He offers many chances to get extra credit. His exams can be quite difficult though so be prepared to study a lot. His labs are extremely fun and it has been really entertaining and educational studying with him
His lab is very fun and easy to follow. Just get the work done and in on time and show up and you'll be all good. His class, however, is another story all together.
I used to hate chemistry but he's the first professor to make me like it! Of course it is a difficult subject, so you have to work hard for the exams. A Lot of assignments, however, he gives lots of extra points. He just want you to try your best in studying and gives you a good grade. I recommend him.
Dr Carra is a very competent instructor. He provided a lot of notes and guidelines for both the lab and the lecturer. The labs were very interesting, lot of NMR. Extra credit if you decide to do your own experiment again without help. It was tough, but I had a great time. I highly recommend him if you are a motivated student.
He likes the NMR!. He gives notes online, he is consistent with the exams. The class is very heavy, but he shows the reaction in a way it is understandable and nice to follow. But a lot of work. The labs are fun, and all results are proved with the instruments. If a group fails the lab, the data can be shared.I recommend him if you like chemistry.
I had him for chem 2. He is the best. I learned a lot from him. Take him if you want to learn chemistry. However, he is demanding but there is a lot of material to study. he recommends what to memorize for exams. At least 2 in person, then 2 online. A lot of gredits for notes and one extra labs. If you study you'll be ok. heavy class though.
Fun professor, knowledgeable and passionate about chemistry. Provides lots of extra credit so participation matters. His exams are really though though. 5 essay questions worth almost half of the exam. Lots of homework. Overall solid professor but lots of work and lots of studying.
He sounds bad as a lecturer but for his Lab class he is actually really good almost everyone got an A in the class because he offers alot of extra points on the final exam. He had me stressing the whole time until the end but he pulled through and I actually learned stuff in his class.
He is a great professor, he reopens the assignments if he gives you a bad grade or if you happened to not turn it in time. Labs are fun to work in group, and he explains how to get the calculations needed for the lab report after the labs. You'll be ok if you attend his class.
The people who did bad in his class expected to get a C without putting in the effort. You need to study a lot when it comes to O chem 2. He doesn't drop any exams or curve but he gives so much extra credit which is fair. As long as you pass 2 exams you get an A but it's easier said than done. Make sure not to miss a lab or you get -10 points.
Avoid him if there's other options. Especially for summer courses. Syllabus states that you only need to pass 2 exams for an A, but your grade is actually based on how much extra credit you're willing to do unless you pass all exams (not easy). Also your assignments are 0 in the gradebook until he grades them. Worst class I've ever taken.
I didn't pass a single exam and I still managed to get a B overall. As long as you show you're putting effort in this class, he WILL help you pass. Additionally, the only reason why I was able to bump my grade up to a B was due to the many extra credit points he offered throughout the course. Fortunately, I don't have to touch chemistry ever again.
Professor Carra is good. He offers a ton of extra credit opportunities, so if you're willing to put in the work, you can earn an A. Some of the extra credit opportunities are just participating during class. I recommend taking his class!
Professor Carra is good and he know the material. However, the course is very hard. Lot's of work at home. I struggled, but he teaches in a way you can undestrand. But if you are weak in chemistry, don't take orgo 2. He does all the possible to help, jut the topic is difficult. Labs mnadatory! get ready to work... :)
I'm sure he's a phenomenal professor but I wouldn't recommend taking his class in the summer. The workload is extreme and he moves at a blistering pace that is almost impossible to keep up with if you already struggle with chemistry as it is. He obviously knows his chemistry but will absolutely leave you behind if you can't keep up with his pace.
Dr Carra is very good. I learned a lot, however I had to study a lot. The classes are difficult because the topic is hard. Lots of reactions to memorize. He has files, online homework, nice labs, easy lab reports. He gives extra credit for labs and notes. Exams are fair, he asks what he explains. I recommend him IF you like chemistry.
Prof. Carra makes chemistry fun with his humor and passion. Exams are tough, but he offers ample extra credit. With hard work and using resources like Unstuckstudy, you can get a great grade.
This class was all over the place. Many failed exams, and some dropped due to no review sessions/practice exams. Labs were more engaging. The real advantage is the extra credit added to your total FINAL grade. Active participation, note summaries, and homework all offer extra points, making it almost impossible to fail. Overall, I'd recommend him
Do all the work on time. Do his practice problems. Participate in class. You should make it. This is a tough class no matter who you take.
Professor Carra is amazing—funny, kind, and genuinely cares about your success. He's understanding with assignments and even offers makeup labs if you miss one. While it's not an easy A, the effort you put in pays off. You'll actually learn and grow in his class, and it's totally worth it! Highly recommend! P.S don't miss class!
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. I am currently taking this class, the professor is very rude.
This course is already difficult, but having a disorganized professor does not help at all. He gives you so much work and insufficient time to absorb the information. He takes a passive-aggressive approach in teaching, making it very difficult to ask questions about the lecture. If you miss a lab for whatever reason, he is not very accommodating.
Brilliant professor, gives a lot of extra credit added to your total final grade and is overall a nice person. However, I really wouldn't recommend him for online classes, I'd only recommend him for in-person classes.
Dr Carra is very though. You have to work a lot, and I did. The labs are difficult, but he helps with the lab reports. He gives a lot of extra credit. I missed 2 labs, and I could to them back and the end. He does his best to help but you must commit. If you look for an easy C, don't take him. If you wanna learn, then yes, he is yout guy.
I took him for 1311 and for 1412. He is very prepared, he knows a lot. The textbook is free, and the powerpoints come with the lecture videos. I had to study a lot, but then, I managed to get a good grade. The bad comments are for the students who never do good, no mater who is the professors, i would not mind them. If you do what he says you pass
he is a bit rude and when asking a question he would not really answer it clearly. I thought the bad reviews were lowkey exaggerating but trustttt they are nottt. I think that if you study hard you can def pass this class. Make sure to do the extra credit as it can help you out. This class is just all memorization tbh.
He's direct, not rude, though some might find his honesty jarring. It was a fast-paced 8-week course. I enjoyed the labs and his humor. Study everything; he'll test beyond what he highlights, but covers all necessary material.

Lots of extra credit offered which is added to your total final grade. Labs are entertaining, lectures not so much. You're basically guaranteed to pass this class as long as you get all the extra credit offered, even if you somehow manage to fail every exam
Gave me 2 zeros on exam because he claims i didn't show my full environment even though you have to have a mirror behind you, so its impossible to cheat. I should've gotten an A but he literally stopped responding to my emails. Don't take if you're not good at chemistry and just want to pass. Lots of hw. Too much extra credit that wont even help
This professor is just okay. You can tell that he is kind, and I genuinely believe that he wants his students to succeed, but he is not very constructive in his teaching. He is scatter-brained and lecture/lab usually reflected this. Tests kind of hard, but he does give extra credit. If you struggle with chem, pick a better teacher. I taught myself.
Best professor ever, just do all the extra credit and you will get a b
Show up prepared, do what he says, turn everything in on time and you will pass. He goes over why he takes points away, but also explains how he gives extra credit. Each point of extra credit is 1 point added to grade. Averaged a 70 for first 2 exams, did all the hw and extra credit, passed with an A without needing to take exam 3 and final.
He clearly explains the labs and gives lots of extra credit. As long as you turn in labs and actually try you should be able to get an A.
For an introductory lab for a high school student the course is easy. However, the professor himself can be difficult. Class met once a week, but for our class it was cancelled often. In addition, labs were either modified during the class or not updated for online. Poor communication. Additionally, the professor was always in a hurry to leave.
such a fun class! working as a group and getting extra credit weekly. exam is same as what he explains in class. great instructor with a very distinct accent and humor (lots of respect for him)
