Best course i could've taken, with the best teacher. i switched out of the A section into B cuz it my schedule better and i got the best professor i could've hoped for. he was so much better than HANKE who taught secton A. i recommend any class he teaches

First year of university and he's my best professor yet. He is very easy to understand and encourages class participation during lectures which i love! He's also pretty funny sometimes which brings some lightness to the lectures. ALthough he only discusses things right from the readings i think it helps to clarify things very well! great prof!

Crystal clear lectures. Passionate speaker. Does not like anyone to disturb him(i.e. cellphones, talking, ....loud typing). Approachable. Most interesting topics discussed. If this is your first year and you're taking the course, it provides a solid foundation for your future classes. Suggestion: take the class seriously.

I really like this class! The lectures are great and the prof isn't boring! He goes through major points that you should have came across in your readings before you came to class. The readings are pretty long but not that bad! Stay on top of those weekly readings though or else it'd be a nightmare to catch up on or skim through...

Great prof, easy exams, easy assignments. You will experience life changing experience and outlook after this course, no kidding. As long as you submit the summary every week (or more than the required summary) + participate in tutorials = A or above guaranteed.

He's a good professor. However, if you wish to pass you must remember the names of the readings and authors. Tests are a bit tricky as they are tedious when it comes to time management. Multiple choice was a little confusing. TA's are lovely. Definitely recommend.

Great prof. Gets straight to the point and doesn't waste any time. The readings can be heavy sometimes, but it's always important info that he will go over if you don't understand.

After sitting through some pretty brutal lectures with other professors, the appreciation I have for this guy is beyond. He's amazing at what he does. You can tell when someone genuinely enjoys what they're doing. Straight to the point, intelligible about what he's teaching & test breakdown is a lifesaver. He's awesome.

He's a great prof and is clearly passionate in what he teaches. His lectures are very clear and informative as he breaks down readings for you and tells you what isisn't important. Be sure to study for his tests however as he enjoys putting 1-2 essay questions in one test. He always includes multiple choice in his tests as well!

Honestly, I do not think I would love criminology this much if it was not because of such a great professor. He is so inspired in what he teaches, his lectures are not boring, and one of the greatest inspiring professor I ever seen. My favorite class has to be with him, a professor that truly cares for his students.

Test i found a bit tricky, because he expects you to put all you have learned, and you have to memorize authors and stuff, and he is a strict marker since my TA didnt mark most my stuff and the prof did.. I would've never imagined to have such an understanding and amazing prof, especially for a hard, theory-based program like Crim, but I really and truly loved this course because of the prof. The setup (4 tests no exams, 6 reading summaries no essays), he was a great instructor, explained everything thoroughly, teached very well. Would take again

Claudio is a great lecturer and very knowledgable. I really enjoyed the two courses i have taken with him -CRIM 1650 and SOSC 1040. They both require work to receive a good grade. There are 4 tests and you cannot b.s. them. You need to remember the name of authors and the main points in each reading in order to get a good mark. Highly recommend.

Claudio is an amazing prof. Incredibly engaging during lectures, although he doesn't try to be neutral. That's not a bad thing. He's opinionated but never condescending or rude. He's really interesting, very passionate. Marking was reasonable, lectures were easy to follow. Definitely take a class with him if you can!

Colaguori was an amazing prof!!!! His readings could be long but kept me interested throughout the course. He really made you think about certain things and question them. As an intro course for criminology, he prepared me for future courses in the program. He was funny and knew a lot about the topics. Would take his classes again if possible!!!!!

Professor Colaguori was hands down the best professor I had during my entire four years at YorkU! His passion is contagious and he makes you leave every class looking at the world in a completely different perspective. He is a really fair marker and his assignments and tests are super reasonable. Take his classes - you won't regret it I promise.

I am a fourth year student and have taken his class in first year, till this date I have not found a better prof at York U, he is the most amazing lecturer, his material is on point, not long and boring at all. He keeps the lectures interesting throughout, as long as you keep up with the readings and understand material you can get a good mark. 3

Professor Colaguori was hands down the best professor I have had since I started at York two years ago. His lectures are always interested, he is funny and caring. His tests are a little hard but he makes sure to give you all the material you will need to pass and more. He is extremely caring and is accessible outside of class.

Too overqualified for york, better than any professor I have come across, knows what he's talking about, doesn't read off slides, does not have a monotone or mumble stuff, very organized and interesting.

Claudio is probably the best professor I've encountered at York. He is well versed in his subject matter, and shares his passion with students. His lectures are not boring, and he is always willing to help you out if you ask for it. I would take every course he taught if I could, and I recommend his classes to everyone.

He was nice. If you emailed him he'd reply quickly and always welcomed people to ask him questions and meet up outside of class hours for extra help. His lectures were interesting but I can't really say I learned anything.

Claudio is a very passionate professor who knows a lot about the topics and genuinely wants to teach. I usually take notes on paper, but he tends to jump back and fourth so a laptop makes it easier to keep notes organized. He provides a sheet of general notes about readings & topics. He lectures off of that; they are extremely helpful for tests!!

Super passionate and will help you if you approach him. He definitly knows what hes talking about and he summarizes his lectures very well into main points but also explains them very well also. What he says is on the test is on the test!! Very straightforward. Sometimes it is easy to not pay attention because he talks a lot. But great prof overall

An amazing professor who knows how to keep his students engaged. He is very intelligent and passionate about the subject he teaches. He makes difficult topics easy to understand and will repeat himself to clarify confusing topics. An easy A+ (just know how to write a proper essay though).

Claudio is very passionate about the course content in which he speaks, he teaches with vigor and in a clear and concise manner. Do the readings! The only thumbs down I would give is the breakdown of the tests which is generally short answer, ranged around a 3+ page answer, not so short. I would highly recommend this course, very informative.

I took his intro sociology class for free while I was a University of toronto student. Attended lecture every week after full days of class just because of the quality of presentation. Amazing human being & prof.

Best teacher for Criminology, gets to the point and explains using examples students can relate to and understand unlike other Crim profs. He genuinely wants everyone to do well as long as he knows you work for it

hes truly a magnificent professor I had him for intro to crim (doesn't teach it anymore) and with his teaching, I was sure I had made the right choice he cares for his students and his lectures are super informational but fun - keeps you engaged the whole time one of my fav professors and I cant wait to take his class again in fourth year

He has great lectures and the workload is manageable. His content however requires a lot of critical thinking and should not be taken lightly.

A great Prof! Makes you think about things differently. My TA was a bit hard though - would question my assignment when the answer to his question was there - he just had to read further for my point. A really good recommended class.

He truly cares about his students and if you need help and reach out, he will help you. He sets clear expectations for students but he also wants students to exceed minimum criterion. He will make you work for an A+ but you will develop many skills as a result of your hard work. 10/10 professor, I would take any class he teaches. (lots of writing)

Dr. Colaguori is my new favourite prof. His lectures and personality made my first-year zoom experience a dream. The content in the course and discussions in lectures are beyond interesting. However, there is a lot of reading, writing and preparation that goes into this course, no joke. So do the readings and give it you're all!!

As a first-year student, I am eternally grateful that he was my first professor. Dr. Colaguori guided and helped me and everyone else. He is open to individually discussing his lectures outside of class and will gladly assist you. + he's hilarious

Fantastic prof. His lectures were interesting and my TA was also fantastic, understanding, and a great marker. Tests are absolutely fair game, based on the chapters you read. No surprises. Read the chapters, listen to lectures which go over the chapters, get a great mark, simple as that. Four tests, and a couple of chapter summaries of your choice.

Do your readings, attend classes, participate, and put some effort in your work and you'll leave with a good grade. If you get your work done earlier and ask him for feedback, he will happily help you.

When I took his class in 2024-2025, his class was by far my favourite class to be in. Very clear about the marking scheme. If you ask, he will help look over your assignments and give you his opinion. He is clear on the first day what you'd have to do on tests and for assignments to succeed. Would take again in a heartbeat! Super cool teacher!
