After missing the first class and joining the second I found myself to be in for a culture shock. His first words to me where " you missed a lot of work" and I immediately thought "drop." Good thing I stay, he was a great professor.

One the best teachers I have ever had!!! He is able to make the boring act of writing a paper fun. Takes topics from OUR lives, and has you write on your likes/dislikes and your own views on topics that you are allowed to pick. TAKE HIM NOW MATTER WHAT!

The hype is true; this guy rocks. He's real funny, very intelligent, and can get anyone to understand anything. There are a lot of assignments, but you can miss a few and still get a 100%. If you want to learn and have fun, this is the guy.

OMG this man is so sexy! at first i didn't think he was that hot..but he grows on you. he has an awesome personality and teaches very well. He explains the material very thouroughly and so everyone can understand. Very funny... and what a great ass. *sigh

This guy is great. He is tough on his essays though. He gives attendence points, he gives easy A quizes, and he gives easy A homework points. With all of those extras, it will bring your essay grades up. Great professor though. Tough corse if anything

He will help you out as much as you need help. He is a teacher that will go the extra step & help out people that have a learning disability. Just turn your work on time & you shuld have no problems. Also he makes class a lot of fun.

If you think your english is not good enough or afraid of wrting, he is really the one for you the take. If you spend time on your assignments you'll do fine. When I took him, we can turn in as many drafts as we want, and he has that patient to go over the drafts. I did that until I get an A. :)

Good teacher. Do your work and take advantage of him checking your "rough draft" essays. Actually read when he tells you to read, and you should be fine. HE makes honors kids watch these very "non-interesting" but funny movies, but deal with it. Teaches well. Take him and you will be fine.

Mr. Holliday always comes at things from a simple and unexpected angle. He explains exactly what he wants and grades accordingly. He thoroughly reads all homework assignments and gives very good feedback. He also will proofread essays before the due date.

Such an awesome teacher! He will teach you to be a great writer and will read every paper until you are happy with it. Be ready for a dark semester of wonders!

Most amazing teacher I have ever had at VCC. I was excited for every class. He is hilarious and holds nothing back. Of course you have to write papers, 4 in comp 2 but he gives you all the help you need. Only one test, the final exam and if you show up to class its pretty easy. TAKE HIM!!!! Fun class and a great professor. He really teaches you how to write correctly while keeping the course easy to pass. He explains everything, and you always know what you need to write about. I would definitly recommend him, but take him for both ENC1101 and ENC1102, or it might be harder because he expects college level writing.

Holliday Is the BEST english teacher to walk the earth! nProvides clear and detailed handouts for EACH essay assigned. (4 major) You will learn and have a blast. Hilarious. Rarely hw only the major essays and no reading. I had him for 3 hours on a Friday and loved it. THE BEST!!

I looked forward to going to this class everyday. Teacher is Hilarious one of the funniest teachers I have ever known. Class has 5 essays and a final exam. The grading is easy, essays I did in an hour got B's. You can miss 3 classes but I missed 6 and he didn't say anything. Only con is he calls on students without warning so be attentive.

I took Mr. Holliday twice in the late 90's. I am glad to see he is still teaching. I still tell others about him. He was so funny but, he wasn't trying to be funny. He was such a dork. That is what made him so funny. He knows his stuff and explains it well.

His film class is AWESOME. He's a great teacher and really knows what he's talking about. He's funny and sarcastic, which gets the whole class involved. If you don't like foreign films, however, you might want to reconsider taking his class, but I learned to like them. Also, don't buy the book, he gives out a study guide for his EASY tests.

HE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE HAD YET. I took Contemporary Literature with him and he was hilarious! He cracked jokes and got everyone to know each other. The subject was also fun because he chose the weirdest poems and stories to read. We didn't have text books because Valencia didn't order them. There are text books though.

What an awesome teacher. First off, you need no books, he gives you all you need, second off, he is thorough and walks you through everything, if you cannot be successful in this class, you really need to think about a career without college. Highly recommended, get in his class early as it fills up very quickly. Great experience!

His very outgoing and funny. He keeps the class alive. He gives 2 quizzes, 2 essays, 1 research paper, mid-term and final exam. All the assignments are easy if you follow his instructions. I would recommend him.

Professor Holliday's course proved to be such a great experience! Class lectures are lively and informative. Numerous step-by-step handouts are provided. Outlines are often completed in class with feedback and input from classmates. All essays are broken down into easily absorb-able tasks with lot's of feedback. Homework is minimal; grades fairly!

What can I say about professor Holliday... For starters, he is hilarious! Super easy going and chill. You do have to write a couple of essays, but you can email it to him before it's due and he can tell you what's wrong with it before you turn it in so you can get a better grade. Had him as a professor for one class until we had to have a sub for the rest of the sem. Really cool and fun guy, unless you're sensitive to foul language and dark humor. If you can't take a joke, don't take his class. He teaches a lot of useful skills in a fun way, but he gives quizzes, so actually do the readings which are interesting anyways.

I took Professor Holliday's ENC1101 class for the spring & was a bit wary because of some reviews I saw, but I was wrong. He is very helpful/respectful, I have learned a lot in his class and thoroughly enjoyed it. My writing improved a LOT. He respects his students. Definitely would take him again for English Comp. 2 if spots were left open.

Super cool dude. Not usually how you describe a professor, but that's just what he is. Awesome teacher, really has this curriculum down. It's mostly a lecture about how to write the specific essay, then he assigns it and moves on to teaching the next one. I feel like my essays are garbo but he grades them good. XD

Mr. Holiday was hilarious. He had great lectures. We used the textbook but most of the reading is found online. In Comp 1 we read and had some quizzes, but they were super easy. We did three essays on the reading and the final, we just wrote a memoir. Easy class and pass.

His class was a highlight of my school day. If you're not great at essays it might be a little difficult, but he is very helpful if you ask questions. He is super cool and tells a lot of great stories in class. Wish he taught ENC 1102!

Best prof. to take for your ENC classes. He's hilarious. He is extremely clear with what he wants in essays. Very lenient. No textbook required. He'll say attendance matters but doesn't really care. He's a very care free guy, just do the work and you're guaranteed to pass.

Lots of short stories & poems, almost all were really interesting - coming from someone who hates poetry. SUPER easy quizzes, three 500 word essays, essay-like mid-term & final is a poem & memoir. You'd have to try to fail this class. Holliday is the best professor I've ever had, hilarious & makes the class easy & interesting. Couldn't ask for more

Professor Holliday never made the class boring, he tries to get his students to participate. Never had a boring time in that class, constantly made jokes but never trailed too far off from the things we were suppose to get done. Had 4 essays that ranged from 750-1200 words, nothing too bad. Great feedback and gives like 3 weeks for essays. TAKE HIM

I had professor Holliday for both Comp 1 and Comp 2. He is by far the best professor I have ever had! He is very helpful and wants you to do well. He makes class fun to go to and is beyond funny! My writing has improved so much since taking his classes. Definitely a class worth taking. Hes the best!

Really cool dude. You can tell he was one of those alternative guys in high school. The entire class was just essays but you spent a week going over how to set them up. He basically wrote them for you. Easy A if you just show up and turn in your essays.

I took him for ENC1101 and ENC1102 and I absolutely loved him. His class was super easy and we barely did anything. Just you write 4 papers but he gives you clear instruction on how to write them and they have a shorter word count as the semester goes on. Also he is the funniest human being I've ever met and really relatable.

I loved this professor. He is really funny and never gave us too much work that would make us stress out. You do about 6 short story quizzes in class which are easy, and 3 essays and the word count gets smaller after each essay. My only complaint is that he does bash out on religion, especially Christianity. But overall he knows what hes doing.

Made English an actual fun and entertaining class while still teaching you a lot and giving good feedback on essays. This semester I wasn't able to take his 1102 class so I got stuck with a new teacher and got sent back to the real world of boring, terrible English teachers.

Professor Holliday is one of Valencia's best teachers. Professor Holliday is dark, hurtful, cruel, helpful, inspirational, knowledgeable. ENC-1002 is very theatrical and if there is someone that can teach a subject that you want to keep exploring than Holliday is the teacher that you want. I left after his class and still contact him for guidance.

Professor Holliday is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Not to mention, the guy is hysterical. His class is very simple and easy to pass as long as you show up and do all required essays. Highly recommend taking him for any of the comp classes. It will be a class that you will enjoy going to everyday.

Holliday is one of the best professors i have taken. He is very funny and cares about what students are learning. Essays are easy and you structure them while in class. ONCE AGAIN, VERY FUNNY!!

As long as your present and participate in class, you will be in the clear. Although most of the class essay based, if you ask for help he will review your papers with you. Any help you ask of him, he will give you! Also hilarious and every class has comedic input.

Honestly best English professor I've had, he is very lenient and hilarious and the classes are light and comedic. don't worry about deadlines as long as you talk with him about it.

Overall amazing professor and would highly recommend to everyone! He has extremely dark humor and makes you look forward to coming to class. He helps you with essays and makes everything easy for you. 4-5 essays, easy final, and just a great time every class. Im taking him again for ENC1102 and would recommend for others!

I took him for both Comp 1 + 2 and cannot recommend him enough! He's one of the best professors you'll ever have and his classes are very easy and informative. We had 3 short quizzes and 3 essays. When COVID moved all classes online, he was still extremely helpful and communicative with us every step of the way. You need to take him.

Truthfully, I hate english but Holliday made it worth the while! 3 major essays, other assignments are simply just preparation for those essays. 1200 min, 1300 max; not too bad! Not a tough grader and will give you great feedback (will also help you if you turn in essays early). Essays take up your entire grade so turn them in on time!

Professor Holliday can be a little shocking for those with sensitive dispositions. His jokes are a little dark but funny. He explains concepts really well and cares about the process of writing a great essay. He is very direct and gives great feedback on papers. Honestly nothing bad to say about him.

Professor Holliday is super caring and hilarious! His assignments are very simple and we only had to write 4 major essays. He's also very understanding when it comes to turning in assignments late, I 100% recommend you take his class!

Professor Holliday is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. He really cares about you and he knows that life happens, so he is very very very flexible with due dates. His videos explaining the topics are excellent and he offers to read your essay and help you with some errors before you turn it in. Take him!!

Best comp professor, just three essays and small assignments due with excellent guidance through the modules. Keep in mind that he is very deliberate with grading and will look at every detail.

Professor Holliday was amazing for online course. Quite the tough grader but does it with well intentions. Usually scored around a 95% on my essays which is good considering my mistakes. Feedback may take a bit, but he goes into detail about it. Responds to emails quick also! Definitely take his class.

Was a pretty easy class, had around 3 major essays. He is kind of a slow grader, but he gives lots of feedback on the assignments. He sometimes has a period of time where he goes MIA and doesn't post new assignments or responds to emails but other than that pretty good class!!!

I took Professor Holliday for Comp I and II during Covid and everything was online of course. He is honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. There are about 3 big essays in his course and if you complete them before the deadline, he will revise them for you. Very good at responding to emails, very easy grader. Complete the work Easy A+

He's a very tough grader. This class stressed me out the most. He edits your work if you submit them early. If you want an easy-going class, he's not for you.

Mr. Holliday is a great professor he gives really good feedback on your essays and lets you know exactly what you need to change. However, it is nearly impossible to get an 100 on an essay because of how thoroughly he grades it. But otherwise, he is a good teacher.

He honestly is the most chill professor I have ever had. There are honestly a couple of essays that are to be done but they are manageable. He gives such great feedback and he lets you turn in the work whenever you want with full credit which is amazing. Highly recommend him!

Do yourself a favor and take Professor Holliday. One assignment a week, a total of 4 essays. Gives great feedback. Almost a guaranteed 100% on homework. I am VERY BAD at essays but he graded them fairly, I got on average abt 80%-90%, with lots of feedback. Accepts late work (don't count on it tho) and you can email him ur essay and he will help!

Professor Holliday is a professor who understands that sometimes things happen in your life and he makes it easier for you to turn in the assignments late. He definitely cares about you. There were only 3 major essays. If you do not understand something in an assignment, he goes out of the way to address them as best as he can. AMAZING PROFESSOR!

Mr. Holliday is a great professor, there were 3 major papers with some other assignments in between. He was very thorough when it came to grading however, he lets you send your paper to him for review before you submit which I really appreciated. Overall a really understanding professor and I would recommended him to anyone.

My only complaint is that I can not have Professor Holliday for all of my classes. He was so understanding and helpful. He understands that people have a life and other obligations so he is not super strict w/ deadlines. He was funny and real, which can be hard to find in English professors. Take any class offered by him he is an amazing professor.

Mr. Holliday is an amazing prof. I loved the format of his class as you'd only receive 1-2 pieces of homework each week and it was fairly easy since he goes over a lot of it in his lectures. He's very interactive and helpful with the class and I'd definitely take his class again. Honestly, as long as you don't fall behind, I'd say it is an easy A!

This professor was amazing I had a very long semester and he was willing to be flexible with me throughout the whole ordeal, unlike a lot of professors. You don't have to turn in your assignments on time but you have to do them by a specific date, which I don't recommend by the way. I definitely think if you want an easy semester take this guy.

Mr. Holliday was such a great prof to have, he was so understanding and makes sure students can receive the best grade possible. There are 3 major essays which you can email to him before submitting so he can give feedback as well as mini assignments throughout the course. Professor Holliday is a phenomenal teacher, my only regret is not interacting more in his class. He is hilarious and just a down to earth guy, he'll joke with you but never crosses the line. He will work with you and grade your essay drafts before the due date and tell you what to fix and how. Loved this teacher and if you have him ENJOY!

Loved taking Professor Holliday's course. I really hate writing but his approach to the course made it easy, fun and accessible for me. He is also very caring and I knew I would be able to reach out to him if I had any trouble (which fortunately did not happen). I definitely recommend this professor!

He is the best!!!! He gives great feedback and we only had 3 essays during the summer term. He gives examples and lecture that helps you better understand grammar or punctuation. Take this professor and be ready for an easy and fun semester :) I end up with A+ and English is not my first language!

TAKE THIS CLASS! Prof. Holliday is so funny. He is so chill and doesn't care about anything you do as long as you are doing your work. He doesn't have a late policy, meaning you can turn everything literally whenever(but this tends to make people procrastinate). Make up any excuse and you don't have to show up. Taking him for comp 2 next semester!

Professor Holliday is amazing! He is hilarious, welcoming, fun, and teaches well. There are 3 main essays that need to be completed in the class ( Illustrative, Film Analysis, and Research/Argumentative), the minimum word count for all is 1000 words. There are only 18 assignments overall, the final exam was only one paragraph. Take this class!!

Good English professor overall. I am not a fan of English but writing in this class was enjoyable. He is very open to reading rough drafts of essays before submission which is a huge plus. He gives detailed feedback after the final submission and his course is well organized.

This is my second semester taking Professor Holliday, he has been such an amazing Professor. For 1102 he had 3 main essays (Macbeth and 2 Literary Research). About 2-3 smaller assignments weekly, but can be finished fairly quickly. No late work penalty, just need to make sure that everything is turned in about a week or two before end of semester.

Awesome professor. I honestly wish I can retake this class again. As long as you follow directions and do your work you should be fine.

The funniest prof ive ever had, hes hilarious and gives feedback on EVERYTHING. He really is there to help. There are 3 essays of 1,000, 1200, 600 words. Before you submit your essays you can email it to him and he will give u very helpful feedback and highlight errors.

He makes fantastic jokes while providing valuable and meaningful feedback. Copy that CRN and choose it. I promise you won't regret it. In terms of the class, it is not difficult at all.

Very thorough in his lectures. Grades very clearly and is transparent about feedback before submission. He walks you through most assignments and offers lots of time for you to try and gather research for projects.

i took him in the summer. good professor overall. typical week had only one assignment due on saturdays. abt 3 paper in the entire class. u can send the paper to him beforehand and he will give good feedback. i was rly busy over the summer w other things and this class was rly easy to manage. take him if ur looking 4 a good enc1011 class.

Professor Holliday was awesome!!! There's usually about one assignment a week and there are 3 essays in total but he gives a lot of time for you to finish them and they are easy. I took this professor for my spring term and he was amazing. If you do all the work, you should be able to pass with an A. He's really lenient when it comes to late assignments and his classwork is easy to balance. 5/5

Prof. Clay was by far one of the best teachers I've had during college. I had been out of school for 10years & he was extremely helpful and understanding and willing to assist in any way possible. He gave a lot of extra time to turn in the work before points were actually deducted. I had to re-learn MLA format & could not have done it without him.

Professor Holliday makes Comp 1 a breeze! Easy assignments, no late penalties, and awesome feedback. unstuck study ai was a lifesaver for essay prep. Definitely take this class!

He is perhaps the best professor I've ever had. For one, all of his assignments are open until the end of the semester. He is also very good at working with you and will give you constructive feedback. If you need this class and he has a spot open, do yourself a favor and take it.

Walks you through every single assignment, to the point where I felt the need to show up to class since it helped so much! He enables you to analyze all the literary works you use, and is always willing to answer questions. 3 major essays, a bunch of other shorter written assignments that build up to your essays. Very flexible late policy.

Took him for both Comp 1 and 2, overall straightforward and clear with grading in the 4 essays required in 1101. Grading becomes more and more specific as the semester goes on.1102, requires more 'prep' work but 3 essays overall. Final exam is just a single paragraph of reflection over your writing for both. Easy A and would definitely take again

Professor Holliday is a very witty and straight forward professor. There were a total of only three papers to write and the last paper's word count is fairly low. If you show up and listen in class, then all of the assignments should be a breeze. Attendance is mandatory, but Professor Holliday is understanding to being out sick as well.

Took this professors for my first two semesters at valencia and best choice i ever made, he's actually very funny and his work is fairly easy. there's 3 essays you have to do but there's no late penalty for any of them. anyone who needs take an english class needs to pick him!!

10/10 professor. EASIEST comp course especially if you send essays in for feedback. His feedback actually helped me improve my writing. Final exam was also very easy to get an A on as long as you study any attatchments. If you're taking any comp class you should definitely take him!
