This class was very challenging! You must attend class every day or you will be lost. He loves birds, it's always good to change the subject and talk about birds. Also, you have a group project that is due at the end of the semester. His exams are very difficult and do not correspond with the notes. We often had lab quizzes, so you must attend.
Test are hard, lectures are boring!!!!
i would take him bc he knows wat he's talking about!...he's a good teacher and all u just have to go to his lectures. If u miss one ure screwed! but yeah, if u really want to get a good feel of BIO then go for him
Stay away -- far, far away! This is THE most difficult class I have ever taken. I am a 4.0 student and haven't made higher than a C on any test in this class. If you plan on going into medicine or biology, taken this instructor. If you just need to fulfill your bio credit, I would recommend someone else.
If you are looking for an easy A don't this guy. If actually want to learn and enjoy subject then take this course. The tests are hard because its not straight from the text, but he offers extra credit to counter it. He is extremely helpful and wants the students to learn. On a personal level he is a cool dude.
Clay is an easy going cool dude. Don't be misled though his tests are agonizingly hard. You must read the book!! He says you don't have to but you do. The book goes into more depth and helps you understand everything better. The notes are adequate for a C on his tests. Also do his extra credit, it helps.....alot.
Cool guy. This class is not that hard. Just read the book and go to class. You should make a B. He offers extra credit to help you out as well.
Seems very easy during lecture, but when the first test comes you realize its not all that easy. Lots of people dropped the class we only have like 12 people left only like 2 people making an A. Very cool and laid back, lots of extra credit just not the best teacher if you wanna A.
His tests are extremely hard. There is extra credit, but it surely isn't enough. You are required to do a field journal, so be prepared to come to school on Friday mornings and other times as well outside of class schedule. He knows biology very well, but this class was more like an honor's class. Don't expect a A unless this is your only class
he's really cool. very interested in birds, which was funny. lot's of extra credit. hard tests.
Awsome Teacher!!! Cool guy who obviously loves what he does. He is very helpful, in that he would do anything to help you make the grade you want. Is kind of a "bird-nerd", but his stories are funny! Best teacher I've had so far!!!
White is a great teacher. He explains everything very well and has notes for each chapter. He does study sessions before each tests and does have some extra credit. His tests are multiple choice and essay. The tests aren't that easy but if you look over the notes and chapters, you'll be fine. Don't be late to class because he gets really annoyed.
I really wonder how many of these commenting students actually put any effort into the class. I took 2 other classes simultaneously with this class and still managed a high A in his summer class. never read the book- never bought it. Equation? come to class + pay attention + go to review session + study notes = solid A. no extra effort required.
I took this over the summer and i strongly recommend taking mr. white's class. His tests aren't gimmes but as long as you go to class and go to the review sessions its hard not to make at least a B. He's really interested in the material and teaches it very well in a way thats easy to understand. He's pretty entertaining too!
he is an awesome teacher who really cares about how well you do. if you show that you care about your grade and put an effort into learning, he is more than willing to help you get that grade. dont get me wrong this class, especially his tests, are not easy, but he does everything he can to help you understand it.

not a nice teacher. Tells you your going to fail pretty much when you walk in the door the first day of class, knocks you spirit down the whole time, not a good class for people with low self esteem and sensitive feelings, the tests cover nothing gone over in class. Test are rediculously hard and complicated!!!
Great professor! His exams are difficult but fair. His love for biology shows in his presentation of the material. Go to class + read the book + study = A ... Go figure.
he is not a mean teacher! like most have said, if you go to class and put in the effort you will do fine!
I had Mr. White when he was teaching for the first time and then took him again in the summer 2004 for Microbiology. If you come in class and show that you do not care, do not expect him to help, but if you even try a bit, he will do his best. I saw a girl who was almost failing still managing to pull up a B because she studied very very hard.
i thought professor white was a good teacher. his tests were tough but i understand why he made them tough. he explained that he didnt want the same thing that happened to him in a university, happen to us. and though i didnt do good on pretty much any of the tests, i still made a B in the class.
Very good teacher. Resoponds quickly over email when you have a question and doesn't beat around the bush so there is no confusion. Very passionate about what he teaches so he will stay after to help you when you need it. He is caring about the student so you will always feel like you can talk to him. Definitely take Mr. White he is the best.
Lecture style is very relaxed and about as entertaining as bio gets. Exams however are very challenging. He told us they would be the first day, but many of us didn't take him seriously and bombed the first exam. Be warned!Personality, the guy is great. He cares about his students, but only as much as they care about themselves. Great class
Extremely difficult class and Professor. He is a very nice guy that really understands the material, but the class is long and tests are the most difficult I have ever seen. I took him for both Bio I and II. Bio I was passable, but II was impossible.
Class was interesting and challenging. Take him if you want to learn and are willing to work for an A.

He is a WONDERFUL teacher, He is always there for help and answering questions. He is interested in more than just going to work but he realy gets involved. Yes his tests are hard and studying is always a PLUS! I would take him for any other class he taught because he does teach the material and SHOWS a GREAT interest in what he teaches.
He is such an awsome teacher I took him for bio II! His lectures are really interesting and he makes them far from boring! His test are not that bad yes.. there is alot of material but the test are usually not that bad. I just wish I would have taken him for bio I and II because I made an A in his class!
i love mr white hes so fun and makes the class really interesting. im going to miss bio 2 after this semester is over. he has shown me what i really love to do. bio 1407 is way easier than 1406 its pretty much just memorizing names. i recommend taking him. its really fun and you get to do lots of fun activities outside of class as well.
this class was any non-science person's nightmare. it is fast paced and confusing if you are not interested in it. if you are a science major then it can be helpful but if you dont care about biology this class is a death trap. most people fail every single one of his tests and over half my class dropped over the semester.
He's AMAZING! You need at least some interest cuz hes deep! If you have some interest and have good study habits hes great... tests are difficult b.c they are purely application! I would strongly suggest taking Mr White he rocks!
If these other comments were honestly rating Prof White, then he would have nothing but 5's. The subject is very difficult, but compared to other instructors he is a gem! I just wished he taught chemistry.
Clayton needs to develop a personality...he can put the people to sleep wit those lectures...but he does care about his students......his tests are no joke....good dude, but don't believe his nice guy act cuz he will straight break you down on those exams son.
I wouldn't recommend you take the course with anyone else. Not only does he make the course fun and interesting, he is always willing to help in anyway possible. Yes the tests are difficult, but if you actually take the time to sit down and study you will do fine! Extra credit is available. Overall a wonderful course! To get his attention just say Psssss.
Need to be able to apply materials learned in class. Tests are not simply memorization. His tests are more of what you would see at a 4 year college.
Great teacher! works with you to bring your grade up. Gives you plenty of extra credit for test. You will have lots of fun in the class just be prepared to work for your grade.
Amazing teacher. He is incredibly nice, and helpful. He answers any questions asked, and does so without making you feel dumb for not knowing the answer. He likes to tease, but it is all in good fun. HIS TESTS ARE HARD, but if you read the book and take notes, it's easy to pass. Extra credit is provided and he works with you to get grades higher.
He is a VERY nice person. Very easy to get along with. Jokes with everyone but makes you laugh about it, not get pissed. He provides notes, but you have to pay close attention to EVERYTHING he says or you will be screwed on the tests. HIS TESTS ARE REALLY HARD! It is the "Know it and apply it" method to every test. Miss a class and your out of luck
HARD!!!! dont miss class he is very smart and knows what he is talking about but does not get through to students
You poor kids will be very surprised when you finally grow up and move on to UT or A&M. I would give anything to have Prof. Clay here. He actually cares and is willing to discuss grades or your questions. If you think he didn't get through to you then just wait until you have a 75 year old tenured Asian guy screaming at you in some foreign lang.
Awesome teacher! He is really friendly, and makes you laugh a lot. His exams are not easy, but they are just a little challenge. If you need help, he is willing to help you. Just study hard and DO NOT fall behind and you will do great in his class. GOod luck!
I took his nutrition class over the mini-mester and it was great. The class was pretty easy and I actually enjoyed his teching style. It kept me awake and on my toes. You never know what he will say next.
Mr. White is a great teacher for biology. He knows what he is talking about and usually makes class fun and interesting. Be prepared to work for your grade. he provides notes for each section but DO NOT rely on these exclusivly to pass the tests. you'll need to read the book, the notes and MasteringBio to get all the info he'll use on the tests.
VERY DIFFICULT CLASS. he makes you work your butt off for your grade. lost of tricky q's on test which makes it hard and confusing. test: 50 mul choice, 10 fill in, one essay. covers a lot of material in one lecture, dont miss class. listen and take good notes. overall great but hard prof.
Mr. White is an awesome teacher. The class is difficult but he is a professor that knows the subject VERY WELL!loves bird!and doesn't make you work with people you wont get along with. The class is HARD but it is what any real university class would be like.Pay close attention,STUDY,and you will do just fine.Attendance is necessary.
If all profs were like this guy nobody would drop out of college, unless you were really stupid. He really cares and challenges you to think. Also, join his wildlife group, it helps big time on the field journals.
BIG NO FOR PRE MEDS. Med School Students should stay away from his Bio II Class. Skips about 10 chapters of the book on (immunology, systems...)Focuses more on animals you'll never see and ecology
SUPER HARD. He is a type A personality and loves tricking students on the test. His lectures are really good but this class will take 90% of your time if you want an A
Do not take him. He always tries to make the test hard . He always asks questions in the tests he never covers in the class. Skips lots of important topics. Very mean teacher. Do not take him.
I lost my interest in Biology after I started taking his class. Do not take him. He tries to make easy things difficult. I lost my interest in the subject. I would suggest never take his Biology class.
He is a joke teacher. extremly hard, I droped his class because my family forced me to do that. I study his exam over night to 3am everytime and I still got a C. He assignned a field journal assignment that you need to find 25 birds..10 mammal, etc and over 50 animals and have to be Wild. Joke.BAD teacher ever.
Yes his tests are hard, but study a lot and you'll do fine. He's funny and makes the class interesting. Really nice guy.
Clay is a great teacher! I never read a chapter in the Biology I book and I ended passing the class with an A. He provides outlines notes which is a huge help. Complete and study the masteringbiology assignments! Questions from the test may be tricky but it never was hard. Study your material and know it inside & out & you will pass with an A!
He was horrible! His tests were impossible, he rushed through lecture, skipping parts and putting them on the test. I ended up dropping his class. And he doesn't draw examples, or come up with study tips like acronyms to help. Poor excuse for a teacher. What makes it even worse, he's the biology department leader.
He tries to show his students that Biology is very hard. He will ask questions in the tests he never covers in class. Skips lots of important topics. Makes you feel you do not know the subject at all. Although I am getting an A in all other classes, I had to drop his class bc I started losing my confidence. My suggestion- Do not take him.
Fun, energetic, and loves to joke around in class, but keeps it in good taste. Highly recommend for anyone intersted in biology who actually wants to enjoy it at the same time. Not what I expected after reading some of the reviews. He is a younger prof, thought he was an old crusty dude. Take the learning community class if you get the chance.
hard! test are ridiculous. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Clay White is the bomb! If you're looking for a Bio I/II teacher sign up for him now! He is a legit prof. that challenges you while still giving out a fun attitude. His class isn't a cakewalk though, this a full proof college class the way it should be(tough but fun). Attend class +Study before tests +MasteringBio = A/B.
I seriously cannot fathom what people are whining about. He's an EXCELLENT teacher, class was always very interesting.I made an A. If u thought he was too hard, don't bother transferring to a four year college because that is exactly what u will get (and worse). If u really wanna learn Bio and get used to a real college scenario, then take him.
Took him for 1406 and 1407. Challenging classes. You actually get to LEARN in his class. Really cool professor. Jokes around from time to time. Will answer any of your questions. He really wants all his students to do well. He gets us ready to transfer to a four year university. I really recommend taking him.
Really good teacher. Curriculum is challenging, and there's a lot of little online and workbook homework assignments to keep up with. He's really good about explaining things in multiple ways so everyone gets it. He's funny and interesting too, which makes paying attention easier. He also encourages students to think critically about the material.
Overall he is a really nice interesting teacher. He is also really funny. Personality wise hes a 10! However, his tests are incredibly hard and confusing. I even went to tudoring (which i have never done before in my college career)Did all of the extra credit and still made poor grades, alot of the people in the class i was in felt the same way.
This was the hardest class i ever took in college. He really challages you. What i like about him is that, he has tests and projects but his tests are HARD!!!! i averaged a 58 on 4 tests. If you don't want to work then don't take this class. He will drill you. Nobody in my class had an A.
He is a nice profeessor. The greatest thing for me was that i did not have to read the book. Just print his Blackboard notes and go to the class. My average in the the class was 98 plus, almost 99, and I really did not study that hard; moreover, I am a math minded person. There are a lot of things to do, but still its an easy ans interesting class.
hard, and at the end you wont learn anything and YOU WONT get a good grade either.
He is GREAT!! Class can be difficult, it is biology though, never an easy blowoff class. We didnt use the book however everything was in there cleary if you need to. He gives a hard copy of the notes. Hes really fun and so cool to talk to! i actually enjoyed going to class and ive never liked bio much. Tests were hard but he reviews the day before
Great teacher! Yes his tests are hard but only if you do not study for them. His lectures are interesting and if you listen to them carefully you will pass your test easily *hint hint* also study your review and do those discussion questions!
I love bird catching leprechans in green shirts and who shake their leprechan bootys when his back is to you!!! hhahaaa!! great teacher!! the best most informative class ever!!!
Clay white is an awsome teacher!!! I have taken biology many times and never stayed with it untill this class. He makes learning fun with his stories. haha bird catching!!! and he has a bubble butt u cant miss, which earns him a hotness factor! great teacher! take his class!!
Professor White is one of the best!! He makes sure you stay interested and he gives you every thing you need to succeed! He posts his notes and gives you fun strategies to help remember the material! If you're an Arts major like me and you find Biology daunting, try this class, you may want to change your major!
Great teacher! Makes the class interesting, very knowledgeable on most everything we cover! Uses lots of real world examples to explain the material and he looks like a leprechaun! (it's an inside joke) Tests can be hard but if you study & do the online work you'll do pretty well. I definitely recommend him! I'm taking his BIO 2 class nxt semester.
OMG THAT CLAY WHITE IS AWE-SOME!! HE WAS VERY HELPFUL AND MADE CLASS FUN! HE EXPLAINS EVERYTHING REALLY WELL AND IS VERY IMFORMATIVE! CANT WAIT TO TAKE HIM FOR BIO 2! ORANGE PEOPLE RULE! LOL WELL IM BOUT TO GOW MOW THE LAWN NOW! (INSIDE JOKE)
Best Class I have ever taken. I can honestly say i enjoy going to class, reminds me a lot of Dexter. As far as being hard, I don't entirely agree, you get out of it what you put into it. Test are challenging, but only half of the class grade comes for tests. If u hate boring classes like me u will enjoy whites class. ps write on the board more.
very good looking man. definitely caught my attention. Anyway, he is very smart and nerdy. He has his masters in ecology i believe. The test are pretty difficult but if you're good with terms you should be fine. test have multiple choice, fill in the blank AND free response sections. Drops lowest everything. take him if you like nature.
He is the teacher that is AWESOME, fun in class, very personable.. but tests are tough! i personally am not a fan of bio but he made me want to come to class. i had him early in the mornings and he def woke me up! made everything interesting, but again tests were tough. however, he will tutor you and help you out. great guy!!
Fantastic teacher. He is bar none my favorite teacher. If you have a passion for nature or biology you need to take this guy. His tests are difficult but if you pay close attention you can get a good grade. He has one on one relationships with his students and always has good things to say. Highly recommended.
Awesome Professor. Challenges and motivate students to become better. One of my two all time favourite teachers. Wish him the best and more eager students.
Clay White is probably the best teacher I've ever had. I took him for both bio I and II and made an A and a B. Just listen to his lectures and study the vocab and you'll do fine. He's fun and personable and friendly. I would say the lab tests are the hardest part, but just STUDY. I would definitely recommend him.
he is very passionate about nature and biology. His test are hard because the questions are more about applying what you have learned, than remembering definitions ...so it is essential that you understand the material. He does put the reviews online so STUDY it. Its a fun class, i recommend taking it.
Mr Clay is a good prof but he challenges you a lot. All his grades consist of is a field journal lab/lecture exams and mastering bio. You do not need the book if you are going to do mastering bio. His exams are HARD and there are NO REVIEWS If you pay attention study a lot you will pass Exams are 30 multiple choice 10 vocab no word bank & openended
I wish to have him for Nutricion, he is an excelent teacher who is dedicated and interested in his students.
Dude is awesome. Would take the class again just for fun.
Duke of New York, A Number 1. Just don't procrastinate on the field journal. That one...can burn you. Otherwise, clear about what he wants and gives you solid notes for the test. Makes the class involved. One of the best Profs i've ever had.
Mr. White makes the class interesting even if the material is not. He is a great professor overall. However, I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM FOR SUMMER COURSES!! He doesnt play fair just because its summer and fast pace. His tests require more study time then you can get in just one week. I made a B but i worked extremelyyyy hard for that B.
Good. You get lecture notes online. Study, read, make flashcards. Try to go over the chapter a little before class so it's not first time hearing it. Let's have class outside. There's a journal assignment for animals at beginning of semester, work on it! Finish it quickly because seasons change.
This hybrid class is the best I have ever taken. He puts far more effort into making sure we have everything we need to learn the material. At first I was unsure, but I would gladly take another class with mr. clay. Labs were fun too. He is a very interactive guy and likes to joke around and get to know all of his students.
Loved Clay, but sometimes the material was hard, which wasn't really his fault. His lectures and notes are perfect for studying. Many of the labs we did we're fun and Clay was always involved. Lab exams are extremely difficult though. Overall great teacher.
I don't know why this guy gets red pepper. He is good teacher but, if most of the people fails in his class then something is wrong.I did not fail but I did not get the grate that I wanted. If you want A in his class I say good luck and god be with you.
I love that he is not the average prof. He is funny, keeps the class interesting and challenges us at the same time. It is very different from my other classes and I enjoy his class much more than my other classes. Keep it up Clay, you rock! Pish your heart out!
He was a very good lecturer, although his tests were very hard and i bombed them. His project was very fun to do and I got a good grade on it. Overall he is funny, smart, and very good at what he does
Hands down the BEST professor I've ever had.He knows how to make class interesting.Class is not easy.Read the CH,Take practice tests online,Do the Review,Retake practice tests. His class is not a JOKE. Study &get started as on Fieldguide ASAP. He is Amazing don't Miss out on him I got an A, His class is life changing he is so talented. TAKE HIM!!!&
Test are hard, and he was way to critical. Very hard class to pass and he is not very helpful.
I took the Bio 2 class in Costa Rica and it was the most amazing experience ever. I never thought I could learn so much about biology and myself in such a short time. If you have to take bio 2, do it with Clay in Costa Rica. You wont regret it.
Study, Study, then study some more for the tests. Not an easy class you have to do your part! There's online assignments and lab manual work to turn in. Just study and ask questions!!
clay is a very interesting teacher get to know him. he is super helpful and full of energy. dont procrastinate your field guide. he will challenge you so study up
I would give anything to find professors like Clay in other subjects. His passion and teaching style made me want to learn. Everyday I was excited to go to class and listen to his crazy stories about skunks or volcanos. He is the best prof I have ever had.
Clays class was so much easier than I expected. He loves teaching biology and makes class fun. Take him if you can.
Professor Clay is the best. Its not the easiest A ever, but it is certainly possible. His class has online homework which you have to keep up with but it only take a few minutes each week. Exams are multiple choice and only one discussion. I only made one A, but I didnt study as much for the others. He also loves to talk about Costa Rica.
This class should be the hard class for the semester. I would not suggest taking other science or time consuming classes with this one. The tests are extremely difficult and Prof. White makes them that way. I'm used to hard classes but this one is way too hard in my opinion.
I took his learning community course which is coupled with a hiking class. He is an excellent teacher and the field trips were experiences I'll never forget. If you put forth some effort and ask him for clarity you'll do just fine. I made a B but I know an A was achievable with a little more effort. WONDERFUL PROFESSOR!!
This guy is so hard! You need to pay attention and read the books. And do extra cred if he gives it.
Be ready for a field journal that is like 15% of your grade. You will find 15 trees , 15 flowers, 25 birds, 7 reptiles, 4 Amphibians, 10 arthropods. You will take pictures, document date, time and location. Oh yeah! I said 15%. Its Fun but be ready to get dirty. Dissecting dead animals from frogs to cats. yuck!
Seriously people, this prof is great. It is biology, a difficult subject, not some silly music appreciation clas. White is very helpfull and his lectures are great. He has a passion for teaching that is not found in most professor. If you get a chance, take him. You will learn so much.
He is NOT an easy A professor. It's all about application. If you do not read the chapter before class you will not know what the eff he is talking about. Help yourself by asking questions in class! He will answer them. And PS he loves birds.
First college teacher I have had that actually cares. My class is not easy, but its ok because I understand that he wants me to do better than I would with other teachers. I dont know what grade I will make this semester but whatever it is I will certainly deserve and earn it.
Beware: unless you like BIO, or major BIO, think twice before you take his BIO 2 class, not sure about BIO 1 , i didnt take it with him , but his BIO 2 class is EXTREMELY HARD AND TIME CONSUMING. he is a very interesting and funny teacher. his classes are always fun,but my class made a 67 average on his first test , which was the easiet one,so yeah
hard teacher, but great personality. need to study for exams i only passes 2!
hard class, need to study for ALL exams, overall he is a fun teacher
Class was interesting enough, didn't teach the information clearly enough, no reviews or study guides ever. This was the hardest class I've ever taken. Be prepared to study every day if you want an A. Super hard class.
I love this guy! His class is best for BIO MAJORS ONLY. I find that it was easier to follow lectures after reading the text before class. Most of the content in the book is actually on his test. The lectures are fun but fast-pace so if you're not a morning person, bring coffee.
Sure the class is hard, but its not any harder than all those classes where you have to write a million papers. In Mr. White's class you just have to go to class, take good notes and study. I struggled on a few exams, but i think i am better prepared for it. Thanks Heizenberg.
Mr. White is a great teacher! He is passionate about what he does and is very likable. The course material isn't the easiest, but if you pay attention in class and participate, it is less of a burden. Mr. White himself is a funny, interesting guy, so if you have a chance to take him, you really should!
Took it during the summer which maybe the reason it was tough Required a lot of reading, reviews for the exams, but they are very vague & long They are an okay guideline to the readings but did not help much for the exams Easy quizzes but also weren't much help for exams No online lectures. Great extra credit opp. which bumped my grade to a B.
Took this class during the winter break last year and wow was it easy. He just posts directions online and you have to complete an online assignment. You can take the assignment as many times as you want till you get a 100. Then you have to take a test after a few chapters, but they are almost entirely the same questions. Common sense course.
The best professor I've had. His lectures are interesting and he actually cares whether or not you understand the material. His tests are difficult for most and require critical thinking skills. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
We had to put in 6+ hours studying every single day to get by. 3 tests, all multiple choice. Must read and memorize textbook. Powerpoints and notes online are worthless. Must teach yourself from book. 4-6 Homework Quiz a week, lets you take as many times as you want to make 100% Grading: 3 Tests @ 20% each, 20% diet analysis project, 20% homework.
6 hours of studying daily, he never answers emails so get ready to learn on your own. He didn't encouraged the class to ask questions.
greeat teacheer!!!!!
I hated science classes in high school but Prof White made it so much fun. Thanks Mr. White. I can't believe I passed.
He's an amazing teacher. You can tell his passion in teaching. If you hope the tests are like the reviews that those irresponsible professors often give out (which I thinh is very ridiculous), you will not pass. I made all high As for all exams just by coming to class and reading everything in the textbook (this is what a student is supposed to do)
Great professor who has a love for what he teaches. Online weekly homework given. Got a B in his class and I didn't do highly well on his tests. His review could be better. Some of the test material is covered but not all. Show up for lab and study for your tests and you will do fine.
He definitely loves what he teaches. Great professor and the most fun class I've ever had. Reviews aren't exactly like the tests. Attend lab and study for your exams and you'll do good. I made Cs on my exams and still made a B in the class. He drops your lowest exam grade.
He is very knowledgeable and will stop to explain anything you need clarification on. Tests are hard, but if you study and at least go over the text book, you should do well. Hard class in general, but he makes the lectures engaging. Would take again.
Wouldn't take again. His test were hard mainly because he wasn't clear on what to expect. You'll spend hours studying and still not do good. I failed 3 out of the 5 test. He drops your lowest test score. HW was really easy mainly participation grade. Spends a lot of time rambling about personal life. Wouldn't recommend him for non-science majors!
Super easy to understand, and he will give you help if you ask for it. He is an extremely hard grader, but he makes it very clear that he just wants to set you up for a better future.
He's the best. Yeah, he's a tough grader, and his exams are tough. Be aware! However, he prepares you for it. What he says during lecture is very important for the exams! Exams are not multiple choice only, there's multiple choice, concepts and long answer.
Took the non-science class and loved it. He provides everything you need to pass the class. Great Teacher and would definitely recommend him.
He's very clear with the information that he gives you. His grading is absolutely impossible though. I understood everything perfectly, but when it came to testing it was soooo hard to pass. Highly recommended but you must be aware that you have to work hard in his class.
This was my second semester taking him and anyone looking for a great biology teacher well this is it! He absolutely makes you work for your grade, but in doing so he offers tons of help and he only does this to send off his students confident that they know exactly what they are doing. He has by far been my favorite college professor!
Great Non-Science major teacher. Not like most professors who teach from a chair. He is very interactive and talks with his students. Attendance is mandatory, even though you would want to attend his lectures. He tells you exactly what he expects on the test. He requires you to have online access to connect which is a great study tool! Love Him.
taking his class was very interesting . Coming from a person that does not like biology that much , his class was fun yet educational. The homework he gives are mandatory , and assignments on connect are long but very beneficial. He helps when you ask for help , and he explains again and again if you ask! Concentrate on the power points !
Make sure you do all your homework. He is a good teacher!
took this class online over winter brake and boy it was something. quizzes and videos are easy and what help in tests was actually reading the material and writing notes along the power points which i printed out in outline form.
I'm not a science major. He is great at explaining everything and lecturing. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF LEARN SMART, if you do and understand learn smart you will make an A. Tests are tough! but if you really studied you;ll have it! Do your homework, Learn Smart, and focus on the powerpoint.
Really fun class, Clay was the perfect blend of down to earth relaxed fun but with reasonable expectation of a college professor. would take again in a heartbeat and highly recommend him. Keep up with the online homework, you will regret it if you dont.
This professor is really something. I always thought biology was such a drag but Professor White really made this semester great. He wants his students to be successful, but he's not gonna baby you the whole way. I would defiantly take him again in a heartbeat. Expect homework, but it's nothing to bad. Cool dude, funny, and has good character.
Clay is a funny dude. Though this class was a challenge, seeing as I'm not science major, he made Biology seem fun, and, at times, easy. I wish more professors nowadays would be like him.
If you do the homeworks and study for the tests it's an easy A. If you skip classes or homeworks, then not much. Attendance isn't a grade but it pays to be there. He's really funny and very understanding. Lectures are long but he makes them fun. If you've had Alex Smith, he's a lot like him. Waiting a semester to take Bio II so I get him again.
Awesome professor! At the start of the semester I struggled with Test, but Professor White was quick to help me understand the material. He really cares about his students success, but don't think he will not make you work for your grade. This is a great way of teaching because I now feel confident about bio and myself. Loved his class!
Clay is friendly and funny and is passionate about the material. He is very smart and knows his stuff. He is willing to help if the student wants to learn and is serious about the class. I made a D because I didn't perform as I should have. I would take him again. Awesome teacher.
This professor makes exams extremely difficult. He's rude and he doesn't seem like he wants to help his students. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! I regret taking him. I studied everyday before class started and I still failed the exam. Do not take his class. If you want your GPA to be down take him if you want to raise GPA do not take him.
I took Professor White for a 3 week minimester. He sent out a list of what we needed to do each day to make an A in the class, which was very helpful. Overall, the class was very easy and he gave an extra credit assignment. I highly recommend him if you want to take nutrition.
Professor White is probably not the best prof for every student but he certainly has been the best I have had so far. He cares about his students but doesn't play favorites. A lot of people say his exams are too difficult but honestly i think they are just stupid. I study hard and made A's on almost all exams.
I took this class in a summer session hybrid and ended up having to drop it because of work and my other class. The tests were super hard. I would study my butt off and feel so prepared only to fail. White wasn't very helpful he basically said to suck it up. This might be a different class in a normal semester but beware for the tests!
He is challenging but he gives you every tool to be successful in the class. He will stop and explain clearly. He makes lecture easier to understand by providing real life examples and the assignments are not overwhelming but they are definitely challenging.
His a very cool professor! Although his test are HARDDDDD!!!! You really need to study for them at least a week in ahead. If you study the day before you wont pass. He gives a lot of other work to do so it can help you out in your grade. I would take him again if I needed another BIO credit.
Prof. White is a cool guy. He does not give out reviews. On the final he allowed us to use a review we all studied and only two questions were on there out of a 6 page review. His test are hard, if biology is your major and you can keep up, take him. If not don't take him. -Concerned student who also relies on this website as a valuable source! :)
It was a hybrid class. I worked so hard to make an A in this class. I agree with other students, this class is not an easy A . I made 98-100% on all my exams. There go my two cents to ace it: Go to Quizlet for multiple choice, study power points for discussion questions and memorize bold terms in the textbook for the 10 terms. Good Luck!
Took White in the winter mini for nutrition and it was very well organized, no surprises, but a good amount of work for the three weeks of class. Overall very happy with the course and prof.
I took this course with Professor White 2 years ago before transferring to TAMU. At the time I felt Professor White was challenging, but not impossible. Now I am grateful that I took his class. His class forced me to grow up and learn to be a good student. If I hadnt had his course, I dont think I would still be here in College Station.
I took this course spring semester, he's a very cool, caring and understanding Professor. I would defiantly recommend him. His tests are really hard and he's a tough grader but as long as you study and memorize you should be fine.
Doesn't give reviews for test. Doesn't give you all your bonus points. Isn't interested in helping anyone. Doesn't show you what you got wrong on tests and their online which is annoying. I don't recommend him.
Amazing Class!!! Very tough class, but White is more than fair. He gives you everything you need to pass the class, even a review for the final, but keeping up with the work can be a challenge. In my class a few people didn't and failed. Oh well, I got an A.
He's a great professor! He gives you exactly what you need to be successful. I highly recommend taking him because his class will prepare you for the difficult classes at universities. However, it is a very difficult class and he grades HARD. But I still highly recommend him. He's awesome!
Biology is a hard subject for many of us but Professor White is a really great professor although the test are difficult. If you take notes over the reading and pay attention to the powerpoints you will get good grades. He is a funny and interesting professor and if you are confused on what you got wrong in your exams just visit him at his office.
Hands down the best prof I have ever had. I wished all profs cared about students the way he does. Beware though, he does care enough to let you fail. A guy in my class that missed 3 exams begged to makeup exams to pass and White refused. He is totally reasonable and dte so take him if you get a chance.
He is the worst professor ever, please don't take him. Hard grader, no test review. lots of homework and he is very hard grader.
He is honestly awful. I expected an easy A, but had to work extremely hard for a B and was miserable the entire time. I never believed anyone when they said to get out, but seriously don't take her if you can avoid it.
Ok, I thought he was really cool after reading all good comments but I was wrong. He is by far the hardest professor ever, he dont give no exam review, you study the book , powet point and still he brings a question neither from book or power point, Avoid if u can. Will never take again
This class is by no means extremely easy to pass but Professor White is very organized and makes everything as easy to understand as possible. It's very obvious that he genuinely cares about his students and is willing to help us as much as he can. Keep up with your homework, study for the lab exams and tests, and this class won't be that difficult
Super smart and funny. I actually enjoy his lectures and I have never said that about a professor. His test are challenging, but honestly if you pay attention in class he covers everything .
He is ok But he is not the best, I did not learn nothing!! most of the time is about general science, not enough explanation neither no exam reviews. very unorganized and he is really tough grader, I always score A but I end up getting C. I study HAAAARRRD and almost 5 hours a day just for his class and wow that was something. Avoid if you can
Lots of homework and not enough bonus pints. He is by far the hardest grader ever.. Not RECOMMENDED.
One of the nicest professors I have ever had. Cares about his students grade and is willing to help you. Test and lab exams are a little difficult but as long as you study it would be fine. Homework is easy and helps a lot. Would def take him again and recommend him
Honestly, he's not that bad of a professor. The tests/lab exams are pretty easy if attention in class, read the book, and actually STUDY - Believe me, I got a 50 on my first test without studying ;) I would def recommend to those who dedicate their time to a class.
He is NOT a hard grader! His grading is fair & easy on Grammar. Ppl are complaining b/c they want an easy A. Bio is not easy, but he explains it clearly. You need to study hard, memorize, and participate in labs to pass. Also, focus more on the connect flashcards than the notes if you want to pass the tests. And study/memorize your lab units/hw.
Loved this class, only wished I had another semester to take it again. Clay is the type that really cares about students, but expects you to try enough that you learn something. He is challenging, but beyond fair.
BIO 1409 - for non-majors Hybrid class - lecture was online and lab was on campus. He is a great professor, really cares about his students and has a passion for what he does. The tests are a little difficult. Quizzes are easy, and lab assignments are fairly easy. He is a fair grader.
Professor White was a great professor for this course! I took this course during a winter mini-mester. He explains his expectations well and the grading criteria was clear. He responds quickly if there is a problem or question. This class takes dedication, but I would definitely recommend taking his class!
Professor White is one of those professors that is there to help you pass. If you show up and do the work, you will pass. He helps you pass the test as long as you go to class. If you have the opportunity to take him, DO IT! If you show effort, he will definitely put in effort to help you pass at the end of the semester
Prof. White is awesome! He's there to help you pass! 3 Lab tests are not hard, but Lecture tests do. 1 lowest grade of 4 lecture tests and 2 lowest HW assignment will be dropped. A lot of bonus points are given! Biology is not always easy, but if you learn, you will be fine. English is my second language, if I can handle it, you can!!!
Ok guys here i will tell you how this professor was, he was super hard not helpful and all the test and exams were in testing center, we were more than 30 students in a class but all of them dropped. if u guys wanna drop or get an (F) than i wish you good luck.
my favorite professor yet. keep being awesome!
I took two of his science classes last fall and made As in both. He is an amazing professor and truly cares about his students. His lectures are also amazing. One of the best professors I have EVER had. As long as you do your work you'll make good grades. Trust me if I can make As, you can too!
Prof White is entertaining & is willing to help you. One of the best professors Ive ever had! Took bio1 hybrid with him & currently taking bio2 hybrid with him too. Lab is once a week & the lecture material is done on your own time so time management is key! Fast paced with tons of material at once so dont miss lab!
Great professor! He explains everything so good in his lectures, thing is you really ave to work for your grade. Lots of studying, lots of things things to memorize. He really wants students to understand the content so if you don't pass he does not care because you did not work hard enough for it. Great guy and funny but lots of work.
He is an amazing professor, I will take him again next semester. All the content to learn can be stressful but he makes it not so hard, he is funny and cares about us as students.
Although science is my weakest subject, this professor made the course enjoyable and interesting. He explains each chapter in great detail and makes the atmosphere a fun and social place. Very organized, keeps grades up to date, and very good at lectures. There are lecture and lab exams so get ready to study. Highly recommend this professor.
He was an AMAZING professor, I really enjoyed his class and he cares about his student. The class was honestly an easy A and if you have to take a Bio class you should take him for sure!
Very clear with what he expects from you, if you stay on track all semester its smooth sailing. He makes you work for your A or B, so attendance does matter. Theres a pre assessment, then lecture, the post assessment to ensure student are getting the criteria. Hes a high quality professor in my opinion.
Great professor! I am not a STEM major, but professor White made this class super interesting. He is well educated on his subject, and makes his lectures relatable and entertaining. Studying outside of class is a must, don't slack on it! I really liked his organization (you'll get your grades in a timely manner). I would def. take his course again!
Professor White is a really great professor who genuinely cares about his students. He is very reasonable, hardworking, and updates grades in a timely manner. I enjoyed his class and definitely recommend him. Do the work and you should do fine. Lone Star College should hire more people like him.
He is an excellent professor! His lectures are interesting and he provides power points of what he is covering. Professor White will explain content again in a different way if you ask for clarification on a topic. If you do not pay attention and do your work YOU WILL NOT PASS!!!! He treats his class like an actual college level course.
Very organized, very detailed and very challenging. This class is more difficult than I expected, but I am getting through it and learning so much more than I have any any online course I have ever had. I spend more time on this course than others, but its paying off so I guess its worth it.
Took the course over the winter mini and found it to be super easy given the three week format. It was a lot of reading and quizzes, but exams were easy and no major projects. You have to keep up with all the chapter assignments but one exam a week for three weeks is majority of the class. 20% homework, 20% videos, 60% exams.
Professor White was a decent professor. The only reason I would not take him again is because he expects way too much from his students. We had to do a field journal and document so many different kinds of animals (a ridiculous amount and too much to ask in my opinion) and he expects everyone to have the same knowledge in biology that he does.
Took him for non-science major bio 2 as a hybrid class, but I wish he had a fully in-person version for 1409 because it would be my ideal science class. He explains things very clearly and is super helpful with labs, makes a lot of jokes. Test reviews aren't the most helpful and there's a lot of homework, but I would take again.
Professor White is a great teacher and a likable person. He is easy to respect and get along with. He is very funny throughout class but he makes you work for your grade. He is very clear at explaining material however you are expected to know the material very well especially for the tests.
Don't know why anyone would give him less than a 5. He is one of my greatest professors in my 2 yrs of college. You do have to work for your grade, (you are in college) but he will help you and answer your questions. I have reccommended him to all my friends, I took him for BIO 1 and 2, and if I had to, I would take him again.
He was eh. Personally I think he expected too much from a non-science majors Bio class. He provides no test reviews and no extra credit. As far as an educator, he definitely knows the material and his teaching style is laid back and he cracks jokes every now and then. Overall I think he grades too hard and shows no mercy for students who are trying
Clay is a great biology professor. This is the first time im taking bio online with him and I realized his enthusiasm and class is organized. I'll definite retake him. Most of the assignments are on connect and d2l.
Very organized!!! I wished all my online classes were as clear and direct. The material is challenging, but all the assignments helped me learn. 5 exams and a field journal (which was pretty fun) make up the majority of your grade.
Took White in the Fall of 17 and hated/dropped the class. Retook with another prof and realized how good I had it. Took White again this summer and have a completely different perspective. He is tough and expects you to learn, but teaches and grades fairly. I should have stuck with it the first time, but I wanted to blame him for my failure.
Great teacher, he does give a lot of work to do. Homework done before and after lectures, sounds like a lot of stuff but pretty much unlimited attempts till you understand it and get a 100. Youll really appreciate all that work at the end, makes the tests very easy to do!
Clay White is really passionate about biology and always made his lectures and labs fun and entertaining. Lab and Lecture exams are easy if you study, extra credit if you are not late to any classes, weekly assignments on connect, and he drops your lowest test grade.
Wonderful teacher, makes subject fun. Attendance extra credit. Textbook matches tests, nothing to difficult.
science is a subject that I really struggle with, however professor white really made it to where even someone like me understand biology. Keep in mind you really need to do the connect assignments and really pay attention attention in lab and Study your but off. If you slack and dont pay attention in lab you cant expect to do well.
If I could take Professor White for every class, I would. It's extremely clear that he really cares about your success as a student. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Professor White continued to go above and beyond for his students, and even made weekly update videos. Don't skip his class though, because the lectures are important! 10/10
Please DO NOT TAKE his 6 week course. Professor literally piles on a ton of work and does not minimize what is relevant and what isn't relevant. He gives lots of work from lab manual, textbook, other assignments and exams. Exams are 40 questions multiple choice and you only get 40 minutes to complete it, which allows only one minute per question.
So, disclaimer, I am a former student of Mr. White's Bio classes at LSC. I am now a teacher myself and find myself using his strategies to teach my seniors in High School. His method of teaching is solid and he has HIGH expectations of anyone who enters his classroom. Don't take him if you are expecting an easy A. Awesome guy, but will break you.
DO NOT TAKE HIS MINI MESTER COURSE. The tests did not match up with any of the assignments or readings given to us for homework. The class average for all 3 tests combined was 59.6 and there was no curve to help us except one bonus quiz. We did not know our grade averages throughout the class. Very disorganized and uncaring.
Once you get into the rhythm of the class it becomes easy. The information you need is all organized and easy to understand. Get ready to read. Give yourself a while day to digest the information. The information is interesting enough to want to to continue reading. This class has really helped me expand my knowledge of the human body.
The class is well organized. The information is interesting enough to want to read it. Its not the easiest information to absorb But if you read the text twice and watch the videos that will really help stick it.
Honestly one of most organized Professors I've ever had. He's completely clear on what to do and what he expects. There is a lot of work, but he has things due throughout the week vs at Sun. at 11:59. Tests are proctored and you get no study guide, which overwhelms me. I'm the worst test taker alive, but I'm doing good in everything else.
Tests are hard! 40 questions in 40 minutes and it is proctored! He is very organized and nice I guess. There's a Field Journal which is hard, you have to look and find on your own a ton of trees, birds, flowers, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, then you have to classify their common name and scientific name! Way too much for a non-science major!
He's a great professor and a great person to be around. He explains concepts clearly in many different ways and makes sure everyone understands them. He also answers questions very well. I really enjoyed the lectures and being around him in general.
Prof Clay is amazing , the subject itself can be heavy but he tries to help explain it better, his class was fun. Hes very organized and was helpful through out the semester. Whatever he tells you is the truth lol, once you put time in youre all good. We used connect and d2l. Tests are proctored all objective. Theres a review for every test.
He is clear in his instructions and expectations during the course. This is a majors class so expect to put in some work. He does use McGraw (Connect) so brace yourself because the SBs take up a lot of time. He is very good with keeping up with grades, so you dont have to do too much guesswork. He is very passionate and knowledgeable in the field
The professor explains topics well and he is very organized. The syllabus and calendar were clear. He is a tough grader but he is helpful and responsive. Make sure to know the material very well because the tests require a lot of critical thinking.
Has a clear passion and understanding of his subject.
He's an amazing professor! The class does require a lot of reading and homework but you need it to know the material. He provides you with everything you'll need for the test but it is important to STUDY! Would definitely take his class again, he made the material easy to understand.
This class is a lot of work and everyone seemed to struggle with the exams. There are around 80 questions per chapter assignment. There is a project that you should start on ASAP because of the requirement. He grades the hw really tough. This class isn't the worst but beware that there is no leniency. You really have to invest A LOT of your time.
Professor White, is very helpful to his students. I took his six week nutrition class, and he advised us thoroughly about what we needed to focus on for exams. Overall a great professor, and is one of the best professors I have encountered in college.
Tests were nothing like the reviews. Professor is totally unprofessional when it comes to responding in emails and organizing work.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE FOR BIOL1322! Our combined average for all 4 tests were 59% and he seemed to have blamed us for it. None of the lecture materials and homeworks matched the tests at all. Super long powerpoints with no type of proper reviews. If he is your only option, just wait it out. It was such an incredible waste of time.
Great course, great professor, you just have to put in the work! He gives us weekly updates with chapter summary videos. The best part is that he doesn't helicopter you on your exams, so you aren't monitored like other classes.
I took Professor White's hybrid class this fall 2021 Semester for Bio II for science majors. All around a solid choice for professors, very direct in his lectures about what he expects from you. Be prepared to be doing alot of Smartbooks, although they help, these were 2-3 hour assignments that repeated alot of the same questions over again.
He's organized, and sets out the tasks for the semester well. In person, he is engaging, and teaches well. Not the most helpful for specific things (will not go out of his way to make things a little easier for students) and takes a while to respond to emails.
Professor was super caring and passionate in this field. Which makes it fun and interesting to learn from them. There is a bit of McGraw-Hill SB so get ready for those. Test were strait forward, just have to study the power points well. I took the hybrid class, so the labs were in person. He made the labs fun and interactive. Very good professor
Professor White is a good professor that is engaging while being present in his class. He expects you to bring your maximum effort while taking his class so that you can get the best grade possible.
Professor White is one of the best Biology professor I've ever had, he is very good explaining lab and preparing you for test and class activities. Is not hard to keep up with the class, and if you want to Ace your test you have to prepare yourself with the notes and also listening to what he says during class.
I took Professor White's Biology 1407 hybrid class this semester. Most of the homework is through McGraw Hill Connect, each assignment is a lot of questions that repeat themselves. So be sure you can sit down for 2-3 hours for each textbook assignment. His in-person lectures were very entertaining and I was able to follow along with them easily.
Too much work. Due dates aren't one day out of the week like other online classes. People who take online classes have things to do. Having 3-4 smartbooks due a week on different days is just super inconsiderate.
proctored testing, a lot of homework but consistent schedule which is easy to work with. easy but helpful labs.
The class is very straight forward. As long as you do your work, you will be fine.
This is a very good professor! I would recommend him to anyone taking Biology. Just be prepared for a lot of homework and reading. You must set time aside to study to pass tests
there's only 5 exams, two smart book assignments per week, and there's either a virtual lab or a one page lab assignment per week. His lectures are recorded and the textbook is only used one a week at lab. There's not a lot of extra credit because of covid, but this is one of them. not easy to contact if in need of help or is willing to help.
The lesson follows a pretty straightforward format. You'll be OK as long as you complete your task.
His online courses are well structured and organized. Every lecture exam comes directly form the textbook. The workload can be much but thats normal from any bio class.
Lots of studying and hw, but doable. Overall good teacher for an online course.
Professor Clay is a really good professor his labs are very interesting and he's actually pretty funny which is a plus when you have a professor. For this class the material is a lot and requires a lot of reading and writing notes either from the PowerPoints or the Connect smartbook. Wish there were reviews for the test though.
I took Prof. White's BIOL 1407 and ENVRH 1401 course, I don't recommend taking two of his courses at the same time due to an overload of the course work and I got confused with what's due for either class. It was amazing to see him twice a week for labs as both courses were hybrid and Prof. White is hilarious and very transparent with students.
Professor White is a great professor because he is thorough in what he expects from you in his class/lab; He goes over the material and highlights key points from your readings/assignments. He posts weekly updates, so you are aware of how the week is shaping up. Class is fun because of funny stories and there's a lot of interesting things to see.
Professor White was truly the best! Lots of homework, but everything comes from the lectures/textbooks. His labs are so interesting and fun. He tries gets us to interact with each other. Tests are tough, but his lectures are clear and entertaining. He provides extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester and goes by the syllabus
Overall professor White was a good professor. However, I recommend taking this class all in person instead of hybrid as in a hybrid course you have lab but no lecture. Yet, all the tests are over the textbook and no lab material. This makes tests hard especially since all the tests require you to understand 4 to 6 chapters in 2 weeks by yourself.
He genuinely cares about his student's work and wants everyone in his class to get good grades. Some of his lab worksheets were the most difficult but all in all if you do the work and put the effort in you will get a decent grade.
The professor is clear and precise with what homework is due and uploads weekly videos of himself stating what is expected for the week. The only thing I was not a fan of was the proctored exams. Not very much to complain about with this professor. Pretty straight forward.
I would recommend Professor White for Biology 1407. The class was online, but manageable while also working a full time job. The homework assignments are opened at the beginning of the semester so it is easy to stay ahead. You have 4 days to take tests, but tests are proctored. Overall a good course.
Professor White's course isn't too difficult to pass, the workload is steady but isn't too much to handle. He does utilize the lab manual and McGraw Hill connect so you will have to pay for those (there might be free trials), but the actual textbook isn't really needed. Beware tests are proctored and require screen-sharing, webcam and microphone..
I took BIOL 1409 and Professor White set clear expectations on when the work is due. It is a heavier work load but it set you up for success when the tests come around.
Cool professor! Took him for Honors 1401 and he's really cool with how he runs the class. Accepts late work and all the work he assigns requires effort (it's not super hard). Also: this dude can identify the call of just about every bird. He's bird-crazy. Kind of funny- kind of awesome- kind of scary.
Professor White's online course was organized very well and even though I'm not great at Biology, the way that it was setup made it easy to learn. He sends out short videos each week summarizing the upcoming course work and I personally found that very helpful. I would definitely take a course taught by him again and I highly recommend.
He does alot of lecture videos which really helped in my learning experience
professor was good. Biology isn't my strongest subject so this was a challenging class. He was super nice and helpful in the beginning of the year. He does not accept any late work so be sure to turn in everything (these grades add up super quick). Overall my experience was good but I am glad I don't have to take another bio class lol.
Super great professor- lectures won't feel like lectures. Beware: tests are online but video proctored.
Well organized. A lot of lectures ( I got lost). I found it easier to listen to lectures and then use the book for recap several times because the test are not always straight from the book. There is no study guide given for test. Tests are based on the lectures. I found that hard, I am more of a visual learner.
This class is very difficult. What is taught and what your tested on have absolutely nothing to do with each other. There is a test every week so you have to study everyday and hope for the best on test days.
He is organized and he sticks to his syllabus but do yourself a favor and do not choose this professor.
Professor White is a fantastic lecturer; he tries to connect the lectures with what you see irl. There is extra credit, and the lowest test grade gets dropped. He is super knowledgeable about the subject and responds to emails. You will not regret taking it if you can study. Take this class!
Take Proffesor White, he wants all his students to learn, his class is easy to listen to, and he answers all questions, he offers extra credit and drops the lowest test grade. you do have to study but it's just the lectures, the textbook is used for hw and provides extra depth. he responds to emails and is always willing to work with you.
Prof White is a great bio teacher. He really makes bio interesting and fun.He forces you to think outside the box which makes exams difficult. Attendance isn't mandatory but you'll have to if you want to pass, especially for lab. There's lecture and lab HW, lecture and lab exams, a journal and the final -drops 1 lowest lecture and lab exam.
I love biology but this particular class makes you lose interest. It's a teacher who knows a lot but doesn't explain it easily. He doesn't finish the lecture the day it is because he talks a lot.He says that if we find the class easy, he will make it more complicated.Little extra credit, the good thing is that he drops 1 lab exam and 1 lecture exam.
He's pretty good but I think he would teach a Majors class better than a Non-Majors class. He does explain the material in parts pretty well but sometimes goes too fast and rushes the lessons sometimes. He does offer help with understanding the material. Homework-heavy class with proctored exams. Take him for Majors class, not Non-Majors.
I honestly felt like I was being taught by a high school teacher again. He forgets to treats students like adults WHO PAY to be in that class. He would be a great professor for bio majors but do not take him for non-majors. Testing is so stressful because what you study will not be in the test and he will refuse to tell you what will be in the test
He did not seem to care about his students. his tests were sooo much harder then anything we learned in class or in the reading. Most of my classmates were failing all the tests and the prof blamed COVID, not his own teaching. he cared a lot about the subject. would be better teaching a majors course
Professor White makes bio engaging. While exams can be challenging, attendance isn't mandatory. Unstuckstudy AI and the free textbook are great study tools to supplement the lectures.
Professor White is AWESOME! and he cares so much about his students, and his lectures are funny and entertaining! You can really tell he loves BIOLOGY, and his test are portered, but everything you need to know is in his lectures, just take really good notes and you will pass the class! TAKE HIS CLASS! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! :)
Some of these reviews almost scared me from taking his course. But I find the tests much easier than the content we go over, and assignments are completion grades (connect smartbook/labs). Also bonus points for the tests (10 for each). I think what people are finding problems with is the inability to cheat on tests; all proctored, one dropped.
Lectures are pre-recorded videos - any communication was in a posted video. Professor seemed to think our entire class was cheating somehow on proctored exams - which never matched the test material. Trivia questions-esque. Definitely take a different professor.
Professor is awful. DO NOT TAKE PLEASE. Cares more about trying to catch students cheating than actually teaching the material. Wouldn't put in grades because it was his “birthday month”??? Doesn't care about students and everyone struggled. Do yourself a favor and do not take this class. Avoid this professor at all cause. Please.
Dr. White is a great professor. He cares about his subject and his students. If you complete all the assignments on time and do decently on the exams you will get a good grade. The online exams are proctored so please do not try to cheat on them. You will do fine on your own.
Do NOT take this professor his is an awful professor. He takes forever to put in grades, never responds to emails. He doesn't care for any student success. If you even blink on the exams he will give you a zero. Terrible professor, save yourself the time and find another professor for this class.
He makes this class harder than it needs to be. His lectures are completely opposite of the test. Save your GPA and pick someone else.
Lectures are very different than the tests and gave out final reviews that had NOTHING to do with the final . Beyond irritating to study and take a test that you aren't fully prepared for .
Professor White is fantastic, His labs are super fun and hands on. He shows you specimens of the things you learn about in lecture. He has an average amount of homework (labs and smartbooks). His tests aren't too hard if you study the lecture slides and take the practice exam. He made me love biology even more. Take him for BIO1407 !!!
Professor Clay is really funny. I enjoyed his labs; there was so much hands on learning and it was really cool. He never hold us up, so we were done and we said goodbye. He provides good information and when we have questions, he answers them very straight forward. He tried to make it to where we understand which I really appreciate.
Professor White is pretty good. Honestly, his lectures were slightly heavy due to the amount of content in BIO 1407. However, his labs were great and very hands-on and were pretty closely related to the lab exams. The amount of homework was okay, usually a lab assignment and SmartBook. Finally, be sure to study the content days before the exams.
