Prof. Burda is very friendly and down to earth, and the classroom environment is very comfortable. The class was about 1/3 his lectures (straight from PPT) and 2/3 student presentations (some painful to sit through). However, he somehow motivates you to learn the material. Dr. Burda made pchem very approachable - I was pretty afraid coming into the class, but the way he explained content was more than enough. Lectures are primarily just reviewing textbook readings & exams are more concept and experiment heavy than calculation heavy. Attendance is graded.

The class is fairly easy and he gives lots of opportunities for extra credit, but lectures are not very helpful. He goes so fast that it's hard to keep up and overall the lectures are not very engaging. The notes he posts are very helpful though, and with the book it's easy to prepare for tests.

The lectures for this content are pretty dry, but it's a physical chemistry class so that's to be expected. I say this as someone who almost never reads a textbook, but this was actually a really helpful textbook to read, and I recommend getting a physical copy second hand. The whole class is 100 points, but if you work hard it's doable.

Professor Burda provides very helpful lecture notes. If you study the lecture notes and practice extra problems on the textbook, you should be fine.

Burda's method of teaching incorporates much of the information from the textbook he assigns for the class. However, the way that he helps us understand the material by effectively boiling down the relevant content into note packets for his students is extremely helpful. Not only that, but his lectures are always presented well and with care.

Dr. Burda is an extremely kind and caring professor who clearly is an expert in his field and loves pchem. However, his class is almost entirely dependant on reading the book chapters, with is lectures consisting of just reading through the chapters during class too fast to actually take notes. Still enjoyed the class though

Must go to lectures to understand content. Must also read the textbook well. Lots of focus on equation derivations in class, but they are not tested.

Dr. Burda is a really sweet human being but his lectures are difficult to follow and stay engaged in. If you do the homeworks and study the textbook notes you should be fine! Reach out to people who have taken the class before because they can also be helpful in answering questions because he's sometimes hard to get ahold of.

Professor Burda is an extremely passionate lecturer and chemist, so you will be able to learn A LOT in his class if you put in the effort to read the textbook, follow along with the course material, and ask questions! He is also pretty flexible and offers lots of extra credit. Read the lecture notes + textbook & do the homework and you will pass.
