I have failed math 2 times before and concidered myself a math-hater! Now I love math! Mr.Vance makes it so simple and i have straight A's in his class. I strongly recommend him as a teacher. Espessially if you have been struggeling before. As long as you show up for class, do a minimum of homework, pay attntion and ask questions you will get A's!

Very good teacher. Teaches straight to the point and very clear. Tests are very similar examples from problems in the book. Note(do not take the comprehensive final exam for granted). I recommend this teacher 100%.

I took him INT ALG and COLLEGE ALGEBRA made an A both times, don't think you'll remember everything for the final though, make A's on your exams and quizzes to cushion you and guarantee the grade you want

An excellent math teacher. He takes his time and explains things thoroughly. Do your homework and pay attention in class and you will earn an easy A. He tries to make the class fun. I recommend him to anybody who needs that foundation for College Algebra.

Dr. Vance is an excellent teacher and he really teaches and wants the students to learn. His class is not easy all you have to do is do the homework and study hard. I made an A in the class and I am taking him for Algebra. Higly recommended and makes the class interesting.

I took this professor and he is awesome.That may sound strange because I dropped the class. I am not good at math, but all the assignments he explained very well. You have to do the homework people.This is the only way you will pass. His tests are hecka hard and if you don't study, you are out of luck.He even takes out time to tutor you on fri/sat

Mr. Vance was sent to Earth as an angel of mercy for those of us who have not a prayer of a chance at the dreaded algebra. Wonderful teacher, explains everything clearly and with great patience and will help anyone. I STRONGLY recommend him.

Well, he's not the worst teacher (math) I can say that, believe me, he's one of the best-even though you don't catch on to everything, and if you did keep up with the assignments -how was your grades! His tests are hella hard and yes he laughs about it. Just make sure your mind is stress free, you will do lil better. And the final exam is no joke.

Best Math Professor ever!!!!!!!!!! Those who usually get bad grades or fail his tests DO NOT study or DO NOT do homework and expect to get As in his class. He is very helpful and very clear when explaining. I got As in two math classes with him and I am so thankfull to have had him as my teacher. Im good in math now! =)

He is the most amazing professor ever. He explains things so clearly and is always willing to help. He is a very fair teacher. It is so important for all students to do their homework and go to every class since he always lectures. Oh man, this is a extremely hard class taking this with a full time schedule. I'd recommend if you really want to learn your math, take him with only this class. He will guide you and give you a step by step process through the world of math. FAILED IT.

He is VERY CLEAR. If YOU do the my math lab and your homework he gives daily. You will make a good grade. Its all about practice until you know how to solve the problem.

I read someone's comment saying that he says "say man" a lot. It's true, lol. His class can get hard, but he will help you. I took him for two different math classes and I would recommend him to anyone. Even the slowest person in the world. He's a cool professor.

He is he best math teacher i have ever had. math was a blur to me before i entered his class and after i was doing those problems with ease. he knows his stuff nd he is god at wht he does he understands the criteria and that made all the difference.

great professor! teaches fast, but is understandable. i'm a visual learner, so attendance was mandatory for me. uses book and math lab. i would take him again.

Mr. Vance is one of the better math teachers at HCC. He helped me understand algebra for the first time. He is very funny and I recommend you take him.

Took him for Trig in Fall 2012. First month of class will feel like too much too fast. Be respectful and he will explain anything you have questions on in class (and after class). He warms up and is funny by mid-way point. Do your homework , you will do fine.

Great professor. I took him in the fall of 2007 and he's awesome. He's very fast but very clear. You will definitely learn and he will help you. Also, remember to do the online assignments on the MyMathLab. They are very helpful and will help with your grade.

Mr. Vance is like "The God" of mathematics. I suggest anyone who needs this course to take him. I must say he moves pretty quick, but for those who can't keep up, he offers tutorial on both Fridays and Saturdays!!! YEAAAAA For Mr. Vance!!!!

Mr. Vance is the best MATH Teacher/Professor I've ever had. He's FAST and clear. DO NOT miss a class. All his examples are very similar to his test questions. I took him for 0312 and 1314. I didn't find him for 1324 and I'm bummed. I RECOMMEND HIM!

He is a nice guy, but I felt really bored in his class. I was waiting to finish class every time. He goes very fast and NOT impressive. The moment in class i seemed I understood, however when it comes to the problem, i have no idea what is going on. I wouldn't recommend him if you have little knowledge about math.

Professor Vance is a wonderful teacher. I had him in the summer of 2013 for Trigonometry and his class was awesome. I go to the tutoring sessions that are on Fridays and Saturdays even though I am currently taking Pre-Calculus. I really wish he would teach Pre-Cal it would be so much easier to understand. Best Math instructor to have.

That Teacher is awesome. I took him in summer 2014. He explains everything perfectly,clarifies every aspect of the topic.If you ask him a question,he will explain everything you don't understand with pleasure.He doesn't like people coming late though. Also you have to do online assignments So, if you study you'll easily get an A.

Very good professor. I took Trig with him summer 1 2014 and I haven't taken a math course in a long time. Clear & explains concepts well. He also gives clear directions on how to do well in class. "If you do the problems at the end of the section you should be cool with the homework. Ig you are cool with the homework you will be good on the test.

Mr. Vance is an excellent professor and I say that as someone who hates math. I took him for 0312 and 1314. He worked out all kinds of problems from the book, went through reviews and offered tutorials. The tests comes from the problems in the book, so if you know what's good for you, you'll do the homework. Made an A in 0312 and a B in 1314.

I love Mr. Vance! I took him for both college algebra and trigonometry. He goes over the material he wants you to know for the exams in class, and works out many problems that will help you when you're sitting at home studying. Do not take him if you DON'T want to study and pass with an A though. He is a great professor that makes you learn!

Professor Vance is awesome he explains everything and gives you multiple solutions to solve the problems. Test are tough but he gives you credit for showing your work. make sure that you study and do the practice problems.

Clen Vance was a good professor, I took him for Trigonometry in the summer session, and although it was very fast paced, I somehow pulled out an A. He gives you homework problems out of the book, and if you practice them, you'll do fine on the tests. He's also very helpful, and if you show effort, he will help you out at the end of the semester.

He goes through lectures very fast pace. He gives quizzes and does not go over them to let you know where you did your mistake. Need to do a lot of computer homework assignments, but will help understand better then just attending class. It is not a easy class, so be prepared to seek help from a tutor.

He is nice professor. Class has homeworks online, 4 tests, 1 final. Final test is easier than other tests in his class. If you take his class, you need to work hard to get A. But if you can get A, it means you are really a good Math. Get B his class Get A another. But I like his way.

Dude, take him. All you have to do is show a little interest and not mouth off. I was not good at math but he truly did help me get a basic understanding. I kept wanting to do better. Take him, you won't regret it if you put the work in.

Attendance not required, but if you don't attend, you miss the lectures, you would miss out on know what to study. Very detailed in his delivery of how to solve problems, doesn't skip steps, he doesn't make mistakes. His math skills are amazing. I expected to barely pass the class when i started it, but he made it so understandable.

Prof Vance is a wonderful math teacher. He has a very good control of how to convey information to students. If you are attentive enough, you should be able to understand all the concepts taught. He sometimes even explains lower-level stuff for students who are not aware of them. He does not mind to repeat over and over to let students understand.

AMAZING professor. Very kind, and understanding, but is VERY fast paced. For someone who is not great at math, you'll need some tutoring on top of his classes. He is also willing to help explain stuff to you after class individually. He was just too fast for me.

The professor wants you to learn, he's willing to answer any question you have. He breaks it down to a point where its easy enough to understand. His test are not hard, he wants you to study and do some problems at home so that you can have questions. Like he always says, "You got questions, I got answers" Super easy class!!

I took him this summer for 0312 for only 5 weeks. This man works problem after problem on that board and explains everything. He wants you to ask questions, if you don't say anything, he can't help you! Also, you need to study and pay attention to his lectures. He puts in the work to help, you need to put in the work to understand and pass!!

Took his summer five week course. Math is not my strongest but Vance was great to have! He teaches with detail so youll never be lost. He goes kind of fast but hell slow down if you need help understanding a certain problem. Having trouble on Mathlab? He arranges time before and after class to help students on anything they need help with.

I took the summer 5 weeks course and he went fast but he will work out the problems from the textbook and breaks it down to show you how to solve them. He would also go over any problems from mathlab for you. Most of the quizzes are open notes

Always had a terrible time with math, but Prof. Vance really helped me understand the material. Answered every question and made sure I understood & helped me feel confident in my abilities. Honestly the only Math class I've ever been able to understand and it's all due to his helpfulness. Just show him that you care by asking q's, and DO THE HW!!

Prof Vance is a great teacher, his test and quiz or not Multiple choice ( must show all your work) practice practice and practice and you will pass. Not and easy A, but if you work hard you will pass, I also took him for 1316(Trig)

Prof Vance will help you if you ask during any lecture. Must show up and must do homework for extra practice if you want to pass. Must show all work no Multiple choice which helps if your taking higher math, and you can use calculator for 1316.

Awesome teacher!

Mr. Vance is a good teacher, if you speak to him then be real. If you know your not good in math, take the first step let the teacher know the next step is read, practice, and repeat. If he sees your grade going up then continue that conversation. Show your work. I struggled with math, but I studied every day even the weekend and he saw that.

Before taking his class read carefully his syllabus. there are 4 chapter exams, each 16% and final 25%. before quiz he gives good direction, feedback about quiz. if you prepare before, solve all exercises, you will get good score. and final was neither hard nor easy. study hard to get A. it is not easy A class. BUT he answers and explains well.

I actually took a couple of classes from Mr. Vance in the nineties and have never forgotten him. He helped turn the switch for me. I'm no math scholar but I understand so much better now. Understanding just basic algebra has helped me in several areas of my life. It really broadened my whole thought process.
