Great guy. I hate English but Cliff made me try my best and made it fun. Somehow he kept me interested in literature. I dont know how he did it but if it worked for me it can work for you.

I think he is a great teacher;keeps the flow of the class very interesting.Very easy to talk with. Wish all teachers were like this.Thanks Cliff.

Cliff was my professor for both English 101H and 102H a couple of years ago, he is by far the best English prof I have ever studied under. He keeps things interesting, is a fair grader, establishes criteria for the course, etc. Plus, he's a UM grad!!

Good at getting the class engaged in debate, but seemed to really enjoy hearing himself talk the most. I guess that's true of most professors. Pretty tough on paper grading.

His class is very fun and easy to participate in and feel welcome.

I really disliked this class. He grades so hard on papers god forbid you make a grammar mistake.The class has way to much reading. Homework all the time.Class discussion was ok as long as you take you will get a ok grade,dont not participate.He has a way of making you scared and forced to participat

Can be very hard on papers, but does his best to help students. Don't expect this class to be a breeze. Raises some great issues and makes you think.

Class is entertaining. Do whatever you want for a final--he enjoys humorous things! Pretty tough grader, but the tapes he records for your grads are helpful. He has a great sense of humor, and you can make him blush easily!

Cliff Johnson is the best professor I've ever had, hands down. Energetic, entertaining as well as very helpful in every aspect of classwork.

I had him for Eng 101, 102, Crative Writing and Shakespeare. He's amazing. He really does care about his students and will work with you if your having problems. He does expect a lot, but he's totally willing to work with you. He LOVES to debate.

Cliff is a wonderful teacher, he helps you with whatever you don't understand. I have learned so much from him and he gives me confidence in my writting. I reccomend him to anuone. He makes class fun and interesting, he likes everyone to conversate and I like that, hes great and 100% student orientated!

Cliff rocks my socks!! He is just one of the coolest teachers at SC4. He's full of energy and knows how to make his students feel comfortable in the classroom. Don't be surprised if he jumps up on the desks and starts walking across them in the middle of a lecture ... it has been known to happen. He's an excellent teacher and person!!

Cliff is a cool, crazy guy who runs a challenging but interesting class. If you put effort into assignments you'll pass with no problem.

Cliff is a really good teacher ,but don't count on getting your papers back anytime soon. Kinda slakes on that. He has great concepts and wonderful thoughts ,but you really need to make sure that you don't disagree with him because he will make you look stupid. also be specific on any poetry. I guess he likes the concepts handed to him.

Cliff was awesome. This was by far my favorite ENG class ever. He was clear with what he wanted to see fromy our papers, yet let you take things in your own direction. He was very helpful, and his classes were easy to pay attention to. He grades papers like they should be graded, he is amazing.

I've found that most of my classmates whom have complained about Mr. Johnson were simply poor writers. Cliff was very clear on his instructions and seemed to care very much for each of his students. As a High School student (duel enrolled), I managed to get very good grades on my papers. I've never wanted to go to a class so much. He's Great!

I found Cliff to be very helpful. All you have to do is ask. This is not a blow-off class by any means. He makes you work for your grade. Considering I hate english, I did enjoy this class alot. If you really listen and take good notes, you will know exactly what he wants in writing.

I have had cliff for ENG 101, 102 and world lit and he had taught me so much about writing. He is a tough grader but he gives you the grade you earn, if you are confident about your writing and ask him questions he is more than happy to teach you how to get an A paper make sure he knows your trying and he'll help you along the way!! I recommend him

Not your typical class, he makes it really fun and interesting. Lots of student participation! VERY challenging h/w and essays. Incredibly helpful.. answers all questions. And now he finally has his own hot pepper which is long overdue. Haha

Cliff is a badass english teacher. He gives it to you straight and is always willing to help you out. The class is not a lecture class, it is a group disscution class. There are only a few papers to write and a dozen homework assignments. The research paper is very easy to write with the notecards he assaigns you to do. Very good class and teacher.

He's alright, class can be either really fun or really boring. Don't take him unless you are willing to be vocal and participate, if your not it will lower your grade. Im still not sure what the purpose of half of the essays are, and some of them are really hard to write, and undterstand. He's can be a tough grader.

It took me a bit to warm up to him, I can write but I am not so interrested in English. He did make English as interresting as he could have and is passionate about what he does, so he is a good teacher all in all. It is not a free A though, you will have to put in the time to earn it and write on a college level, but he will notice if you do.

Great class and great teacher, even though he is a hard teacher. He has a passion for English and has fun teaching. With Johnson if you want a good grade you have to really work for it, but it is possible.

Hands down, this was the best class I've ever taken. The discussions were lively. The lectures were engaging. And the assignments were both challenging and entertaining. I'm going to miss Cliff's class so freaking much. Tuesday nights shall never be the same!

I took Mr. Johnson for all of my English classes while at SC4. His classes were super interesting and somewhat non-traditional. The classes really make you think and I enjoyed the essays and assignments. Very helpful he and even gave my fiance and I advice for when we travel to Europe next summer.

I really enjoyed having Cliff as a teacher. I absolutely hate English and I didn't mind his class at all. He was very helpful and encouraging. He will grade you tough- but not without fair warning and instruction! If you listen to what he has to say, you'll be fine! I wish that I could have taken him for 102 as well!

He was extremely helpful and he was consistant with his syllabus. He was willing to help out with a paper and allowed a grace period if you needed to turn in a paper late. He takes the class step by step for the research paper, making it as easy as possible. As long as you show up to class and participate, you are likely to get a great grade.

Very nice and helpful teacher. He made coming to class enjoyable and exciting. He would make discussions interesting and let everyone feel that they were involved. His class was a little challenging, especially if you're not very good at writing (which I am NOT). But I did pass the class with a B. Take one of his classes if you can, great teacher!

Cliff was extremely helpful and although he is a tough grader, he makes it very clear what he'd like to see on each paper and assignment, so follow the guidelines and you'll receive a good grade. Very quirky and witty. Much more entertaining than your typical comp class. Participation is key.

Definitely the best professor I've had so far! The class discussions he conducts are entertaining and engaging. He has a great sense of humor and never looks down on or belittles his students. If you have a chance to take his class, do it!

Cliff is fantastic, awesome, interesting, and perhaps the best instructor in the english department. If you need any level english class switch your schedule to accomodate his classes.I was terrified of eglish class and got an A i 101 and A- for 102

Cliff was very awesome. He makes you work for your grade, but if you focus and participate it is a breeze. Homework is important but it really is not that hard just a little time consuming. I would recommend him to someone that wants a challenge and works hard!

This was the first college class that I walked into, scared and intimidated as an adult student I was made very comfortable and laughed every class. Professor Johnson is very big on participation and he is very willing to help, if you have a question do not be afraid to ask!

Professor Johnson, just call him Cliff, is the best professor at SC4, no doubt. If you have the chance to take him, do so. The in-class discussions are great, and Cliff is open to anyone piping in to discuss, but he will challenge every stance taken; this leads to better discussions. He knows there is no "right one way to write a paper. Take Cliff!

As an older student I was gun shy over English classes, He was awesome as an instructor and very fair in grading. If you want to learn to write in the real world without stuffy high school English thrown at you every day, this is the only choice at sc4 worth consideration .

Cliff Johnson can make anything interesting. I would take another class by him if given the option. I definitely would take another class by him. You could miss a couple classes but I wouldn't recommend. Typically, the more you write the better. He gives very helpful feedback.

He is an awesome teacher if you put in the time and effort. He gives homework assignments that you either get a check (which means you did it) check plus (You did the bonus question) and a check minus (you did not complete it) on them. As long as you do the bonus questions and pay attention in class you will walk out with a good grade.

Cliff made this class pretty interesting and kept the class lively at all times. Homework was easy but the papers were graded harshly. I enjoyed this class but don't believe that the grade I received reflects what I've learned.

Such a sweet guy. He will stop at nothing to make sure you reach your full potential if you open up to him. He is a bit of a tough grader, but if you are having a difficult time he has lots of office hours that he's not opposed to dedicating to you. Lectures are interesting, and debate-like. Participation is required to keep the lecture going.

I am an awesome writer because of him. His lectures are rich and I actually learned more from this English class than any other literature class I've ever taken. Helps you along the way. He is SUPER funny and I always enjoyed going to class. AMAZING PROF.

Cliff is a great guy with very high grading standards when it comes to papers. He has helped me become a better writer and has helped me seen things from a different perspective. I will be taking him again for ENG 102. Oh, and make sure you participate and try to aim for extra credit on the IRP's, it will come in handy for a small grade bump.

Cliff was by far my favorite teacher so far at SC4. There were a lot of short papers we had to write throughout the class and 5 larger papers. He made the class a lot of fun and encouraged everyone to participate. You definitely have to work for a good grade, but if you participate and have good attendance, extra points are added at the end.

Quite a lively fellow. Very intentional with his classes and genuinely seeks to help his students grasp the content on a deeper level than just a way to get a degree. I have taken him twice now and have enjoyed both classes.

He can be a tough grader, but his classes are interesting. Visit him during office hours for help with papers!! Biggest complaint is that he didn't go over MLA, so I was lost when taking English 102 with a different teacher. Overall, this class made me a better writer.

Quite quirky, but great prof. Not too much homework, but if you blow off a paper it will affect your great quite a bit. Each essay topic he picks is different, and it's interesting things to write about, so it isn't like any other english class I have taken. However if you don't participating you won't like this class.

Cliff has been my favorite teacher at SC4. He is very quirky, but a ton of fun. I enjoy going to class every day. He gives a few papers that should not be blown off. They are all on different topics and are interesting. I would recommend.

Cliff is a great teacher. He sets up his classroom lectures like a debate, which makes them fun and interesting. Cliff was also a very funny person in class. He grades the homework pretty easily, but he is a very tough grader on the papers. Don't be afraid to take advantage of his office hours! I feel like I am a better writer after having him.

Prof. Johnson is a clear cut choice if you seek the ability to be an effective writer. You will understand everything that will be required of you in the class from day 1. Was very understanding and flexible in my time of need this semester and did not have to be. He will give you EXCELLENT feedback on all essays in the form of spoken review!

Cliff Johnson is THE man. He makes english class fun, which is kind of a first for me. His class involves hard work and dedication, but it's college, so get used to it, it's not a cakewalk. I learn a lot everyday in practical and educational means, I recommend his class 10/10!

If you want to learn and engage with your classmates as well as the prof, then this class is the one to take. I took ENG 101 with him, the best choice I have made in a while. I was really not feeling college, thought it was dumb and was questioning why I was going. Prof Johnson helped me realize why I was there ane kept me confident and motivated.

He is an amazing professor, but he has high expectations for papers. Everything must be on time, attendance and participation are crucial for your grade, and you must feel comfortable with classroom discussions. I also took 102 with him because I really loved how he taught and it worked well because I also have high expectations of myself.
