Class was conducted way too fast. By week number three, everyone in the class was totally lost.
Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. If you get stuck with him, drop, then take it again with ANYONE else.
The worst teacher i have ever taken. Basically you get penalized for getting problems wrong, but you don't get points for getting them right. The class started with 46 students and ended with 7 students, all the rest dropped. Don't take his classes...
Very nice guy, approachable; but CAN'T teach! Worst I've had in a long time. Even math tutors warn to stay away! Problem: Too often gets off track (ahead of himself); causing confusion. Must have a Masters in Math to succeed in his class. DROP! DROP!
Extreemly difficult. Nice guy, jokes alot, but is hard to take a class from. This class will be self taught, and you will spend LOTS of time in the tutor center. Upsides: 50% is a C. Only has 5 HW assignments, and 5 tests. ASK HIM TO USE CHEAT SHEETS!!!
He didn't know the subject he was teaching which made the class nearly impossible. My class started with 22 people and had 5 left when I dropped in the third or fourth week. Avoid if at all possible.
He is the worst teacher ever!!! He always goes off topic and talks about other math crap using substitution. He's easy going though, except when he says something to offend you (if that ever happens as him how he's doing with his "orf"). I don't reccomend anyone to take any of his classes!!!
I liked Professor Meyers, definitely earned my A. I will recommend Meyers, if you are one of the eight remaining students, you will know trig, very helpful to know well in Calc, Statics etc. If you are not here to learn, dont waste his time.
Highly recommended for all ENGR, CM, MATH majors, not recommended for those not capable of higher math. Spherical trigonometry expert. The only professor I have ever seen incorporate an insult into a math problem, and the student had no clue.
Very hard! but fair. 50% is a C. Rec. only for those pursueing higher levels math, such as Engin. Majors. Crude guy, but humor makes make alitle better.
WORST TEACHER EVER! I felt that the lectures never reflected what the hw was about. So i spent countless hrs teaching myself and finally dropped when my other classes were suffering as a result. He would assign even problems which i had no way of checking if they were right. His class is IMPOSSIBLE!
this guy is always going off topic. His class is self taught for the WHOLE semester, you will spend the majority of your time trying to pass this class either at home or through the math tutor. we started with 24 students in the class and now we are down to 5 (including me), very high drop rate
My name is Cameron McCreary. I took Math 33 from Mr. Meyers this last spring, 2005 semester and received a "B." That's a six(6) unit "B" in a class with very tedious and difficult material to master. I'm happy with the outcome of Mr. Meyers teaching ability.
Obviously the students who rate Cliff do not understand the basics before taking his class. Cliff covers the class material very well; however, for those that do not make sure they know material previously covered in the prerequesites, the class will be difficult. Cliff's classes prepare you completely for the next step in the subject.
shows off too much, expects students to know everything(forgets that he's the teacher). Sucks as an explainer.
He is very hard to understand and doesn't do a very good job of explaining things. Plan on learning everything from the book.
DON'T TAKE HIM!
THIS GUY JUST SUCKS, CAN'T TEACH. He can't explain the material, and he assumes students already know half of the material. It is difficult to understand what he is teaching. I had to go to the math tutoring center to learn almost everything from the tutors.

This guys just doesn't know how to teach. I blame him for the only C on my transcript. Unless you're some kinda math genius, DONT TAKE THIS GUY. It about time he should retire.
I am sure Myers was a better teacher in his younger days, but when I had him several years back, he needed to retire. He is ver knowledgable and a very nice guy. He cares about his students passing his class, but his homework is insanely hard, his test are all hand written and even harder and the poor guy goes off on so many tangents that you will leave his class thouroughly confused.
Great professor. He is a very nice guy, and is very willing to help students. This is his only flaw, because sometimes he spends too much time answering questions and then has to rush his lectures. Even though his tests are hard, his grading scale is lenient - 50% for a C, 85% for an A. Very hard class, but you will know your stuff.
I understood nothing! He aims to teach your the most complex problems hopeing that if you understand those then you will understand the entire chapter. His tests consist of word problems only. Everyone failed the first exam. Nice guy who encourages everyone to do their best, but it is impossible to succeed unless you are willing to go the math center everyday and put in extra effort to get by.
myers is very confusing. He tries to teach math a way he understands it not in a way you as a struggling student would understand, but he is nice, and he tries to help your grade up.

This teacher is very hard to understand and teaches in his own way that no one else understands. Everyone failed the first test and the class started with around 40 and ended up with 3 (that doesnt include me i dropped half way) his tests seem to be different than what he teaches and everything i learned i taught myself.
Bad teacher. Don't take him. He doesn't teach in a way anyone other than him could understand. If you are math wiz than it wouldn't be a problem though cuz his test are easy. If only you can learn the material.
A little hard to understand sometimes but always willing to answer any question, even if he has to stop the current lecture and go back to a chapter already done. He WILL give you second (or more?) chances to help you keep good scores.
hate him
His lectures are confusing so make sure you do all the homework. You will learn completely from the book. The only thing that saves you is his grading scale, 50% and above is a C. I would recommend other professors if you have the choice to take someone else.
Weird guy, No one passes the first test not even him!(not kidding) Unless ur good at teaching YOURSELF math out of the book i wouldnt recommend him!
horrible. so hard 2 understand, he can't even get the right answers himself! his beard is long and i want to pull it...
confusing, can't understand what he's talking about...

I swear I saw him just about smack an 11 year old. He's just not a nice guy at all.
This guy is the worst teacher ever. He makes Burns look like the nicest guy on this planet. He doesn't know****t about teaching. I blame him for the only C on my college trancript.
Very confusing, very scattered teacher. Doesn't care if anyone understands anything. I wouldn't suggest him as a teacher. Basically he gets paid and you study on your own. Feels like he just waits utill the class is over.

Horrible instructor. Has no actual lesson plan. Teaches math at his level of understanding. Examples are picked from the textbook without objective goals or rehearsal, mistakes are made, class gets lost. Environment is not structured and is geared towards failure. Gatekeeper attitude and washes out those that don't belong! Low regard for students.
Poor teacher
Teaches like review, except we didn't know the stuff to begin with!
Impossible class unless your good a math. Class started with 25 students and about 6 people passed. He style is impossible to follow.
Cliff is a poor teacher. With all the effort I have put in it was imposible to get good score on the test. He has no structure of the class, everyone (5 people that are left) is always lost. The worst is that he asumes that everyone already knows the material. Don't believe me or others? Try it yourself. Trust me I tried it. Good luck.
Has the Gatekeeper attitude and washes out those that don't belong in class. Well there were 31 students, then on final exam there is 6 left including me. I understood the material in class, it was unfortunate for the others who were underprepared or struggled in Math 30. If you have the mind of achieving Mastery level like me, take Myers' class.
His lectures are difficult to follow because he constantly strays from the general topic and refuses to dumb his lectures down to a level suitable for individuals who don't have a bachelor's degree in mathematics; somehow everything ends up turning into a ridiculous physics equation.
He's tough, and I hadn't taken a math class in years. He called me personally when I dropped his class to get me back. I can't say that's ever happened to me before. I'm really glad he grades on a curb. Would take him again.
Do not take math with this professor. Go to another college, just don't go in to his class. You will regret knowing his name along with that big smelly beard.
An absolutely appalling teacher. His lectures have nothing to do with the content you need to learn. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in your book and at the math lab. When you have questions, he will never do a whole problem, just half. do your best to add another class before it's too late!
he is not a fun teacher..
Prof Meyers is not a good teacher at all. Know that a textbook is required and be prepared to do lots of problems for his homework quizzes. Don't be suprised to sit down at a quiz and be completely baffled. I had gone into most quizzes confidently only to receive a 1 or 0. The only person to get an A in my class had a BA in Math. Avoid!
Worst math teacher I have ever had. Always makes mistakes, reads right out of the book, impossible daily quizzes. Out of a full class, all but 7 students dropped. AWFUL!
Totally unhelpful and speaks so quietly you can't understand a thing. He always screws up while giving lectures which just confuses me more.
He is by far the WORST teacher I have ever had. By the 2nd week 15 people had dropped in my class alone! He did such a horrible job that 50% of the students would get a 0 on his "daily quizzes".
Absolutely insane class, grades on a 1/50%/0 scale. I've started this class just 5 weeks ago and its completely rediculous. Myers does not update MyMathLab so even if you want to help yourself you can't. His lectures are utterly incomprehensible. Be prepaired to rely heavily on the book. Avoid him as a professor at all costs.
2 days wk/4 units: you do the math. Plan on hoofing through a LOT of the material yourself. Myers is very helpful and supportive (just not during precious class time: see him in the office or communicate by phone/email). Great guidance offered when asked for. This is a grownup class here: you're responsible for your own learning experience.
Doesn't require homework, so burden of learning is on you. Very specific on how to solve problems and where to find examples in the book. Tries hard if you ask for help or explain your confusion. Good bits of history and background of math thrown in for interest. Be prepared to work hard to earn these 4 units!
Worst teacher I've ever had. If you're in his ALEKS online learning class he doesn't do anything except sit on his butt all day. You do ALL the work and his "explainations" only seem to confuse students even more. AVOID HIM AS A TEACHER!
He is not helpful at all. He knows a lot about math but he is not clear when he is explaining a problems. He makes a problem more complicated.
A joke. That's the only way to describe the class. All the lectures were overcomplicated, and were never explained. Almost all of us were lost within the first 25 minutes of each class (the first 20 was a quiz). Long story short, avoid this professor at ALL COSTS, it's not worth your grade, nor is it worth confusing all the math you do know.
The WORST teacher i have ever had. Do not take this class even if it is life or death. If you do, good luck, try not to get distracted by his massive beard.
I took his ALEKS class and it wasn't bad, but probably because that course you teach yourself. If I needed help he would clearly explain the problem until i understood. Yes, he is a grump... and Yes, he does sit on his butt (but it was the ALEKS class) until you need help.
Unlike all the other comments here, I really enjoyed his harsh sense of humor and his Santa beard. His comedy is hard to understand but his teaching is great... Has a thing about vectors. His class is interesting to say the least.
I would not recommend this teacher at all. Very rude! He would come late everyday but also yell at anyone who would come in after him. It's ridiculous. Also It felt like high school all over again, you could leave class a few min early and if you did he would chase you down the hall. I does not explain question well at all.
I enjoyed Cliff's class; it was fairly difficult but the grading structure offsets this. I definitely felt prepared for the Calculus classes to follow. He is especially helpful if you approach him during his office hours.
I would never recommend anybody to take his class. He is very rude when you try to ask him a question. He will NOT work with you on your grade. He gives NO extra credit and it is very hard to pass his class
Has to be one of the worst professors i have ever had. Before this class I had a very good understanding of math, and i just feel lost during his class. The class average on the last test was a 36%, and the one before that was a 47% (but he blames this on the student not his teaching, but also says that other teachers think his tests are too hard)
Math isn't something your supposed to teach yourself. This teaching style was incomprehensible to my particular way of learning.
unlike the other comments he is not rude and tries to answer your questions. even though he says no hmk...DO IT!!!! it will save ur grade! quiz every day! use book to teach yourself...hard class but if you can take a challenge you will pass...your allowed a sheet of notes on all tests...also visit past tests online, very helpful
Although he isn't an allstar teacher if you are in one of his classes using ALEKS then it will be easy. half the time he explains stuff it just makes it harder to understand but ALEKS can explain it pretty well. and he's really laid back and can even be funny at times.
Prof. Myers is not a bad teacher. its ALEKS that pisses me off. ALEKS is a horrible website to do your algebra on. I recommend to NOT take this class because of the site you work on not because of the teacher
This class is easy to pass because if you use Aleks, it helps you understand, so if you're looking for a class where you can pretty much have freedom and work at your own pace then take it. But, Meyers is rude sometimes and don't expect to understand him when you ask for help, he's useless. I don't understand why he's a teacher.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had! He is rude and just makes you more confused than you were in the first place when asking a questions. Aleks sucks! I dont get why he is a teacher.
Worst math teacher you could possibly have.. an arrogant idiot who thrives on your failure. he knows the material but so what, grow a set mate. it is not your beard that makes you a man !
He is a nice guy, you just have to know how and when to ask for help. He honestly does want his students to pass, he's just too smart for his own good, which makes it hard for others to understand him. If you take his class do the homework and ask for help during his office hours.
Worst teacher ever. He doesn't help with any of the problems becuase, most of the time, he gets them wrong. He only teaches a class where its all on computers yet you're required to show up for class anyway. All he does is go around asking if anybody needs help when everybody just waits for the math lab. I have no idea why he's still teaching.
Why is he teaching? You use Aleks 100% and you ask him to explain the question another way and he tells you the say way Aleks teaches you. I got more taught to me from you tube then him. I think he is just waiting for retirment.
He does care about his students and if you explain your problem to him and ask for help, he will help you. He postponed the final for 2 days for those who had fallen behind and when I still hadn't finished, he called me and helped me through the problem then went in the monday after school ended so I could take the test.
He is a little strange but also funny. He gets a bad rep for not doing much but that's just because no one asks him for help, then when they get a bad grade they blame him. He does care about his students and will help you. The aleks program sucks and doesnt explain things well so you really do have to ask him for help when you dont understand.
He doesnt know how to teach math. Even if you ask him how to do a problem he will explain it and it wont make sense at all. He will give you wrong answers. Still with the ILP Math they have the best teachers.
Cliff is a good teacher if you are having problems, be as confrontational as possible, until he explains the process to your satisfaction. Aleks is like buying a text book and teaching your self. If you dont ask for help you will fail. I would recommend doing your home work in the math lab. His class is demanding so you succeed in the future
Prof. Myers dropped me without warning and without valid cause. I did what he asked, did not miss any deadlines, and was dropped anyway. When I emailed him he replied with a rude, short, and completely unhelpful answer that was not even true.
He was horrible at explaining concepts. All he did was read out of the book rather than teaching us and none of it made sense. We'd have to go back and learn from the book by ourselves. His answer keys from previous test were incorrect and made studying a lot harder.
I took the online class, but met the professor in person twice. He's condescending, and at times just blatantly rude. The class extraordinarily difficult despite the fact that the material is not. The program used is littered with logical and technical errors. It would have been easier to learn the material alone, and then retake the placement exam
Worst class I've ever taken in my life
After taking his class I will not take another one of his classes. Even if you know the material he is teaching he will manage to confuse you and make you feel like you don't know it. His tests only have applied problems so if you miss a small detail your toast. He also has a quiz every class so you have to go to lecture.
I took MATH D..INTERMIDIATE ALGEBRA!! I have recieved A's in all other classes..the way this guy runs his class is a joke..he is asking you to MASTER 400 topics in one semester...the Aleks program is insane.. no wonder 50 percent of his students fail..take another math class..way too much work from this guy for a clss that doesnt transfer!
I have never ever been treated so awful by a teacher. Mr.Myers basically yells at you over everything. I asked him for help and he just yells at you if you do not understand his methods. If you dont finish Aleks at his rate, he becomes meaner. Aleks is the worst program! Too fast and unexplainable.
Dont listen to these other clowns. Cliff is a great Professor. When I had him for Calculus, I learned soo much. He has a great way of explaining concepts of calculus including integration and derivation and he also has a goofy sense of humor that I adore. Priceless. One of my alltime favorite instructors...and not just because I got an A!
This class is for some people and not for others. I personally liked the class because it was more of an independent study since the teacher doesn't do lectures. But for people who need a lot of help in math, this is definitely the wrong class to take. The online program (ALEKS) that the homework and teaching is done through is completely faulty.
This teacher is pretty much not going to help you in class. It would be more beneficial to do two hours of book work in groups than to listen to him lecture. He thinks he is helping by emailing you lecture notes handwritten on yellow paper. Virtually impossible to read. He means well, but makes a hard subject harder.
This class was difficult, and I like math. Myers writes his own tests that are usually pretty insane, class average was usually 50% on exams. You have to study for many hours to achieve in his class and he doesn't teach very well so you must learn on your own. I advise taking a different teacher if possible.
Nearly useless. Condescending toward smart students brave enough to ask questions ("But you should have known that!"). Difficult class, and he talks in math vocabulary. If you live and breath math, you might be able to keep up, otherwise you will be learning from the book.
Poor excuse of a professor. We spend two solid hours working silently on ALEKS in class. There is ZERO lecture involved. May as well have taken the class online - at least you wouldn't be graded on attendance. Take another professor, this guy is awful.
-Use ALEKS the entire time. (Test, assesment, assgnment) -Will walk around and ask if you need help. (I self taught myself so I didn't ask for his help. Not like I wanted to anyway) -Always a few minutes in late in class (Which is a good thing imo) -Can't talk to anyone in class (that means no cell phone or anything social)
HE is a terrible teacher. No talking in class. If you're late, gives you a lecture. No talking but during the whole class period goes around saying "Questions?" and its so annoying and hard to work. Ask him a question and he will ramble on forever. If you have 4 absences he drops you and doesn't care about your reason. Thinks his class is all we do
This teacher is horrible he was disrespectful and not helpful he mad me cry and told me i was studip countless times worst teacher of all time
He didn't need to be in the class. Used ALEKS the entire time. Self taught, and used the "explain" on ALEKS for any help I needed. The MAIN point, He is Very Rude, his comments are offensive. Not someone who should be teaching or helping students in any way.
Very difficult. If you plan to transfer to Berkeley, MIT, Caltech, etc in STEM, take him. If you can get an A, from him (people do) your will not make it in those schools.
Worst professor I've ever had the misfortune of taking. He's been extremely condescending to me, personally, and downright rude to the class as a whole. He gives off a harsh vibe and continuously suggests that students are lazy. How can a professor be successful when he doesn't wish for his students to be? ALEKS is fine, professor is AWFUL.
The two hour lectures were long without any breaks. It was extremely essential to pre-read the Calculus textbook chapters before coming to class to understand the lecture. Poor style of lecturing where he was reading out from the book instead of explaining in detail on the board. Lectures hard. Watch Prof. Leonard's calculus lectures on youtube !
I wish I would have checked out ratemyprofessor before i even took his class! He is absolutely the hardest teacher I have ever had! I would not suggest him what so ever. I went in his office to ask him a question and all he said was go to the math center, and did you even read the syllabus?! He was so rude and felt really belittled..
Cliff is a good math teacher. Most people don't like his style, but I did. He will make fun of the class and everyone at times but that is just his way of keeping it interesting. For my class he tried to make it as easy on us as possible giving us cheat sheets with equations and almost all of his questions came strait from the examples in the book
CLIFFORD MYERS IS A BAMF PLEASE TAKE HIS CLASSES
This guy is a lot of fun to talk to outside of class and very knowledgeable on the subject of mathematical physics. If you get a chance to talk to him outside of class in the math center you are in for a treat.
He has horrible/ awful /rude manner. Should not be a teacher.
