THE BEST TEACHER AT RCC. He is really fun and hilarious. Passion for the subject. Helps students makes learning about interpersonal communication fun. looks and acts like Seth Cohen from Pineapple express. By far the coolest teacher ever. I never bought the book or used it.

Cliff is awesome! I was EXTREMELY scared taking public speaking, but he made it so fun. I highly recommend taking this professor for a speech class. He's very understanding, and really funny. I had a blast in this class, my favorite so far at RCC.

He was a GREAT teacher! Super easy to understand. You dont even use the book because all of his quizzes come right from his slideshows. Take some notes just in case, but overall it was a great class and you learn a lot! He is an AMAZING teacher and definitly not boring. He keeps it alive and you actually want to go to class!

Best teacher I ever had at RCC. Very helpful, very talkative, responds quick to e-mail! I love how he rants on topics that the students are talking about. And he really feels like he's one of your friends. Highly recommended. Obviously you have work to do and he does expect you to improve as you go on. Overall, do the work and practice! Great class

Ok, hands down this has been my most memorable class to date! Cliff is a riot and makes you feel comfortable speaking in front of others. He doesn't expect perfection, only growth. Many good laughs and walked away with skills that can actually be used after school!

Cliff is an wonderful teacher. He is passionate about speech, funny, and he truly cares about his students. When he says he is there to help, he means it. Be prepared to be stretched as he will push you to be the best you can be. I was terrified to take this class, but it turned out to be an incredible experience. Thank you Cliff!!!

Great teacher and very interesting. I was scared to death of public speaking but he made it fun. I got a B in the class but I thought maybe I should have gotten an A. In fact every one I spoke to after the class as over got a B. I would definitely take him again.

Wow, am I glad I took Cliff based off of this site. Seriously, Cliff's public speaking class was awesome! Even for summer. I'm shy and low profile as crap, and even he brought me outta my shell. Public speaking was extremely comfortable in his class. The summer work was medium length. And the lectures were interesting. Take him! You won't regret it

BEST PROF. EVER I was actually excited to get out of my morning class to come to this one. Practice your speeches and if you put in work you get an A no problemo. tests are like ten Q's. He makes public speaking a breeze and he is hilarious

Awesome teacher!!! Fun tells great stories and not to much work. I highly recommend taking his 6 week long class. NO need to sit in his 16 week long class same amount of work and you'll procrastinate on your speeches anyways. But great teacher grades very strict on speeches so PRACTICE!! before hand. BASMAQ

Excellent Class! Graet Professor! Fun and hard all together. He IS hard but in a good way. He just wants to help you improve. If you follow the rules and outlines, there's really no way to get a bad grade. He even gives a GREAT review for the final. He is very helpful and will answer any question you have. Loved the class!!

took 2 classes with him. very easy and fun, just do what he asks and you will get an "A". hes very clear and helpful. take speech 9 with him and you will be shocked how what he teaches actually works in life.

Cliff is a great man and professor. His class is easy to pass as long as you refer to your textbook for your essays and tests. I could have done a lot better in his class but I didn't so I deserved a C but if you put in the extra work you can get a A in this class. Like I said he is great at what he does and I would love to take more of his classes

Very good teacher.VERY fair in grading.My only complaint is that the class I was in consisted of typical high school/college kids.REALLY hard to concentrate when people are constantly talking about parties and so on. Professor Ruth is one of the most interesting professors I have ever had. Speech really isn't my strongest subject, but he kept me interested. If you want to actually learn something in this class, take Cliff's class.

Cliff is a really great professor. Speech is something a majority of people are not comfortable with, but he makes for a fun and comfortable environment. His class is not hard, but it's also not easy. I'd say it's a collge level class. I highly recommend his class for Speech 1.

One of the best professers I have ever had, if you do not have a lot of tome to devote to the class then DO NOT take it, he gives a lot of least with assignments and that can be frustrating.

This class requires HOURS of your personal time. For me, I spent almost half my week with my group at times. He's so helpful but attendance is a must. If you miss too many classes or always tardy, YOU WILL GET DROPPED. Hands down one of the best prof I've ever had. You're personal outcome, if successful, will be more rewarding than your grade.

You will get placed in a group, work with those same people all semester long and you will spend A LOT of your time working with them outside of class. However, it has been the best college class I have ever taken and Cliff is awesome. It was an amazing experience and it really has changed me. I highly recommend taking this class.

Cliff is fantastic. It is an easy class if you keep on top of it. For Comm 1 I used my textbook rarely, but you should get it for a quick read before the quizzes. For Comm9 I used it a lot more. He is the best Speech teacher out there hands down.

I was not interested in public speaking at all when i took this class, i was dreading taking it in a 6 week summer session but honestly i LOVED this class. He creates such a good environment so that you aren't nervous to speak in! It was hard in a 6 week format but you can do it. Dont be late, he hates that! Bonus is that he looks like Seth Rogen!

Since this is a requirement for Cal States, I highly recommend taking this course during the Summer if possible. Straight forward criteria, study for the quizzes, theyre not too harsh. PRACTICE your speeches,itll show when you havent. Cliff makes everything more fun and enjoyable so that the class can relate.

Cliff is a real cool guy. As a teacher, he is your worst nightmare. If is class is your ONLY class, then you might get a B with extra hard work. No ones good enough for an A because of his high standards. Community service is required to pass the class and you will prob hate people in your group because you will get a bad grade for doing your best.

I loved Cliff Ruth he is probably the best professwor I have ever had. He made me want to stay in school and is a very charismatic guy. He is pretty sexy in a wierd way.

Cliff is an excellent professor. He isn't going to give you an A and he may "fail you out of love," but I promise you this, you will walk away from his COM 6 class learning something about yourself and how to deal with groups in the real world!

You'll hate your group and this is a difficult course but Cliff makes learning easy and fun.

I can imagine if you have a bad group this class would suck. My group rocked so class was easy and a lot of fun. There is a TON of out of class work so it is hard to work, go to school, and take this class. Cliff is a really good professor and teaches you important things.

I'd recommend taking this class if it's the only class you'll be taking; because as stated in the other ratings, you will spend a LOT of time outside of class with your group. The workload is pretty extreme, all of the assignments are fairly major and your grade depends entirely on your group. You are assigned a group and are stuck with them.

Cliff knows what he is doing. This class is no joke, and he informs you of that the very first day of class. If you want to succeed in this class, be ready to dedicate so much of your time to this class alone. Cliff makes this class useful for the real world. I appreciate him and you don't want to miss out on this opportunity with him.

Very cool teacher! He assigns us into groups of 4-7 people throughout the whole semester so we can learn how to communicate/cooperate with each other. It seems easy, but it's not. I ended up getting a C in that class because 3 members dropped. I hate relying on others.. Other than that, Cliff is great! Go take him.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Oh! so difficult human experiment called communication-6 (small group com). As you can imagine, working with an unknown group of students is challenging! However, professor Ruth knows exactly how to run this class, and he does it in a loving manner. Trust his instruction, do your work, and DON'T procrastinate! Good luck!

Afraid of Public Speaking? Don't worry! Professor Cliff is there to your rescue! He is AMAZING!!! He is always there to help you and he really cares about his students. This class helped me lose the fear and shyness I had towards public speaking. His class is so much fun but make sure you are ready to learn because he expects you to work hard.

Cliff will not hesitate to fail someone who doesn't do the work. Make sure you are willing to work hard and be open and honest if you are struggling. Have a question? ASK HIM! He really appreciates when you ask for his input. He tells you exactly what he wants from you to get an A. Always keeps his students laughing. I plan to take him again.

Came into this class with the mindset that it would be boring. However I was wrong, Cliff is such an amazing Prof. he really wants to you learn. I learned a lot in his Comm.9 class. You learn how to communicate in relationships. I just took him in the Summer and passed with an A. The final was very easy, and the lectures I really enjoyed.

Cliff is an awesome professor, I took his Comm1 class hybrid format. There is reading that you have to do almost every week, about 5 quizzes and a final. Then 3 speeches. If you do the hybrid class one speech is online. Cliff knows how to run his class as long as you don't get lazy you'll pass. He also makes you feel comfortable to present!

Funny and strict. His homework isn't difficult, but there's a lot of it every week that needs doing if you want to pass. Classroom time is very fun, and his online lectures are worth a re-watch.

Yes professor Ruth is a tough grader, but only because he expects the best from his students. There is a lot of reading involved because its not like a regular lecture and you might have to read ahead for quizzes and other assignments.

Amazing professor/person! Used book for assignment rarely but still needed. Midterm/Final not difficult, referenced back to saved PPT's. Discussions are very time consuming! Be interactive during lecture, don't be late/absent! Got an A, but never a perfect score on anything, lowest score on interview. Learned a lot, would take again!

Cliff is a awesome professor and he is one of those professors who genuinely cares about his students. Yeah he may be a little tough with his grading but that is what is expected in a college course. You get the grade you earn. I would definitely recommend his class.

He's encouraging and doesn't put up with rudeness while someone is speaking. Make sure to actually do the reading for the quizzes and don't be late or absent! Especially on speech days!

Many students would ask me if I had Com 6 with him and I would say yes and they would say, "Oh I hated that class good luck". The reason being is because students despise working in groups but as long as you get a good group then it won't be too hard. I recommend this class. You learn how to work with others.

Just got done taking COM1 with Cliff. He is the greater most up beat professor ever. His enthusiasm and his personality make a communications class the best class ever. He makes me want to become a Public Speaking Major.

Took a Hybrid class with this instructor and he has got to be one of the absolute best in his area of study! He cared so much about each and every individual student and he was super chill didnt expect an arm and a leg full of homework. He replies to his emails within 20-40min which is extremely helpful if youre like me and like to procrastinate.

Best professor ever!! The class is extremely easy! His lectures are fun, give good examples and feedback. He does have you work in group and participate! The midterm is online and the final is like an interview! He gives you the questions he will ask you and the answers to the question for the final! If you need to take a communications this is it!

This was my first online class and class with this professor. Make sure to read the syllabus and you'll be fine. I took this class during summer and there was a discussion post and quiz every week. Quizzes were easy as long as you read the chapters. There's also a paper due at the end of the term.

Professor Cliff is honestly an amazing professor who will get you interested in the course quickly. His lectures are always easier than the book. The material will get understood, easy class, honestly every class was a freaking amazing time :) I definitely recommend!

Work is not that bad, there are discussion boards each week, he's super nice and does not grade that hard. Great Professor.

Class included weekly discussion boards, Midterm online and the final was a one on one interview with professor. If you do the weekly readings and review the power points it will help with the midterm. Professor Ruth is a great guy. He is passionate about what he teaches and wants you to understand the material.

Mostly easy class, 5 quizzes and 4 written discussion boards and one discussion board speech. The hardest part of this class is the research project, but if you give yourself plenty of time to complete it it's not bad at all. Professor Ruth is easy to reach outside of class. I recommend taking this course with him.

I took this online summer Com Theory class and came in a bit hesitant. The course was accelerated but even then, all the work feels manageable. None of it feels like busy work and all of it is clearly graded. Participation in discussions and easy quizzes are all that you need to worry about in his class! Great class, even through a screen!

I truly enjoyed this class. This professor genuinely cares about his students and makes an effort to know them. I wish I would have been able to take this class in person, but couldn't because of COVID-19. His lectures were relevant to the course and his personality is great. Good amount of reading but it's easy to get through.

I had the pleasure with learning in Mr. Cliff course this year. I believed the class would of excel even more if we were all in person. His lectures were always a treat to look forward too. His life experiences were such a help to truly connect with the course itself and made it awesome to learn about it. His feedback was always honest and helpful.

I wish he could teach all of my classes. I like that he gives us work and isnt lazy about it but is still a great professor. I looked forward to the work bc the class was great. You definitely need your books and to participate. As long as your engaged you should be fine, he is a tough grader so follow all instructions. 10/10 would recommend.

Cliff is the best, relatable communication professor I've ever had. The assignments are easy as long as you read the book. The short term consisted of an attendance check in every week, 4 discussion posts, 2 short and easy papers, a midterm, and short answer assignments. The final was a one-on-one interview - don't freak out. TAKE THIS CLASS.

This is the first professor that has made me want to write a good review. The pacing of the lectures and assignments give you enough time to complete before deadlines. This isn't an easy A class, your participation and effort matters. Weekly discussions, 4 assignments (1 paper), open book midterm, 15 minute interview on 3 topics. Take this class!

A gem of a professor. The class was very straightforward and easy and helped me enjoy COM and understand its importance. Light work load as well, just read the assigned readings and you'll be fine. Final was a short interview which was great because he helps you prepare for it and what to expect. 0 complaints, if you have the chance take him!!

He is very caring and wants everyone to pass. He is very easy-going and will allow late work to be turned in for full credit. His COM 9 class was easy and fun! His online lectures were very entertaining and very helpful. Definitely would recommend this professor!

Prof Ruth is very caring to his students and very nice. Online assignments is very easy, just read the textbook and watch his video lectures. The Final exam is one-on-one interview with him, don't be nervous because he gives the possible questions so u can review it beforehand.

PROS: Clear grading, quick feedback, midterm based on PPW+easy+open book, final exam easy (since he says exactly what he is going to ask + a good video for final preparation) Cons: every discussion requires you to be active and to respond to others' posts ( feedback is worth 15 points, so you should do it for a good grade). I liked this class!

I took Professor Cliff for COM-12. He's amazing and cares about his students. Don't expect to get full credit for turning in your work. If you put effort into your work, incorporating things you learned from the book, you will get an 85%+. Class is direct. For COM-12, quizzes are from the book, discussions, participation, and one essay. Very easy!

Cliff is such a caring professor. He wants you to succeed. I regret taking this class in winter because there was such a heavy work load. Other than that, he's a great. The final is ~10 minute zoom interview, and he gives you all the answers ahead of time to study. You HAVE to spend a lot of time on discussions to get full credit, but it's doable.

His class perfectly blended reading, homework, tests, and writing. It did not feel like a lot, but it felt like enough. The final interview was about the various things you learned throughout the semester, which is easy if you study for it. Professor Ruth is a chill guy passionate about teaching students how to better their communication.

This class is well structured and easy to pass as long as you do the assignments, which there aren't many of anyway. The final was a 10 minute zoom call where he'll ask you about two of the five main topics we learned but it's easy to pass even if you just study for a day!

I learned a great deal in his class!! Very easy laid back course. Put in effort and you will pass with an A for sure. He gives a great short review for the final interview. I loved this course and I use the 5 communication techniques he taught us with almost every interaction. This class helped me land my first “big girl” job!
