He is a good professor. He tries his best to make materials clear to everybody. And he does exercises with us. He is willing to help also.
A complete pleasure!! Clear, concise, and very friendly. Very fuuny, makes class laugh! HE will meet with you after class and not too strict with attendence.
This is a professor who is in touch with his students. He gives you EVERY opportunity to do well in his classes. If you fail his class it is really lack of effort on your part and not because of him. Definitely take one of his classes.
Wow. He is just fantastic. He gives you every opportunity to do well in his class and if you don't do well then it is really due to your lack of effort. Don't take my word for it. Take one of his clases and find out for yourself.
I just can't stand this teacher from the first one. He's not clear at all on every topic, all he know is using the project and let the student copy all the stuff that's already in the book. But he's easy though....

Very nice prof! This class is about being in a group the whole semester but he helps you thru it. Theres no midterm, theres a final and a group presentation. VERY EASY

I don't know what everybody is talking about. He is one of the most hardest professor. His exams are way hard, I was on the deans list and thanks to him I am not on it anymore. I would never recommend him to someone.
I'm a CIS major. I came into this class excited about this course, and chose this prof. b/c of so many positive ratings. Now, not only is his teaching style TERRRIBLE, but now I regret I didn't do Pass/Fail. He's unclear, and gives you little time on tests (40+ calculation quest. in 1 hr. 15 min).
well, what can i say about him, hard exams, confusing, his teaching style is bad, using projector with same things on it as in the book, you may do good, but you have to learn on your own.
he is v.bad professor,exams r impossible to finish,lousy teaching,harder math classes seem easy in comparison to his confusing methods. if you want to learn something, avoid.However, I think he is willing to curve a lot.One of the worst prof. at Bklyn and keeps saying "aks" instead ask.Incapable!!!
class in & of itself is not easy, u have to put in some work to do well.Didn't study much, just practiced the probs at the end of the chapters, got an A-.Tests arent easy, but curved fairly.Overall,he's VERY fair:let's you bring in ALL formulas to the test-if you cant plug in numbers... =)
He is a nice professor overall. For this class, you need to buy a calculator at the begining of this class. Test is hard but he did curved. To pass this class, you need to do all study problems and knows the materials well. If you lazy student, dont take him.Need to understand well.
The class itself is a little difficult but his test are easy he lets you bring in the formulas when you take the test. Overall though I would say take a different class

For all you lazy mutts out there that dont like to study and think you'll get away with not working hard, forget it. This is college people...by definition it means you have to work harder. Life is hard. If you put some effort into this class you will do good & the prof. is helpful.Practice!!!!!
Easiest, nicest professor at BC. I wish I could take all my classes with him. The secret to getting an A in his class believe it or not is studying all his notes from the projector, actually doing the homwork assigments, knowing how to use your formula sheet for the exams and using the calculator.
Great guy. I can't believe someone gave him bad reviews. He is by far the best prof to take 70.2 with. Easy going, curves and explains material well. Definitely one of the best business prof's in the department.
With the slides that he uses and the way he explained the material,i opened the book twice all semester. On his tests, he lets u bring formula sheet, and he lets u leave out 5 - 10 questions on all three tests including the final. If u have any interest in learning finance, u got to take him.
Def. need to practice on ur own time.Practice makes perfect. A little too late for me. bought the calculate the day before the final. big mistake. know ur way w/ the calculator to find PV & FV all of that. explains in detail. but got a C
if u study the slides word for word and do the homework u should get an A in the class. u get to get around 10 questions wrong and u still get full credit. u also get to bring a formula sheet to the test which helps. BUY THE CALCULATOR! don't do it right before a test. if u know how to work the calculator then u should be 100% fine
THis guy really prepares you for what's ahead. Just practice and study and you'll be fine. Very thorough when teaching and explaining coursework
I'm taking him for 70.2. His first test is hard, but his second was not so bad. He gives a 5 ques. curve (get 5 q's wrong). I am thinking of taking him again for 50.5. Can someone rate him for Business 50.5. Thanks. It's appreciated.
overall not a bad professor. For this class, there was no final but he did give one short easy test/midterm and told exactly what to study. Instead of a fianl, he puts you into groups and you have to create a business plan, the whole project is not that easy especially if your group sucks. also assigns a couple of easy assignments. Reccomended!!!!
This dude,is awesome!!! He is witty and knows his stuff very well. He is very fair and you will do very well if you come to class and take in all the notes that he has on the screen. He brings in guests to share their business experience and we also read profiles from the book. I'm taking him again!!!

He is wonderful!! Don't listen to the people saying that he is a bad Prof. His notes are clear, and he allows you to get a certain amt of questions wrong on exams with the chance of still getting an A. He gives an extra credit assignment, and you can bring a formula sheet for the exam. The only way you would fail is if you intentionally try to.
This is not an easy class in no shape or form. But if you keep up with the HW's you will be ok. He gives a very nice curve, so dont worry if you got 4 wrong cuz you can still get an A. Just take him any another proffesor it will be the same amount of work but not the same amount of automatice curve.
I disagree with the person who said you could only fail the class if you intentionally try to. I don't think there is a way to fail even if you try to. You can bring a formula sheet to the test which basically gives you the answers to about 35 of the 45 questions on the final. And you are allowed 5 questions wrong each test. Highly recommended!!!
This professor is very boring and his assignments are hard. He does not admit he is wrong and does not give partial credit on exams. I you want to suffer then take him.
One of the worse finance teachers I have ever taken. He rushes through the lectures and makes his tests really hard. Yes he does let you bring the formula sheet, but does not give you partial credit for any work. He also has hard assignments which cover the material that was not covered in class
Do not take him. The only midterm was as final, he covered everything from his slides, I studied hard and eventhough I got bad grade because it was not written word by word from his power point slides. The business plan is extremely difficult, you have to write a lot (it is not writitng intensive class though).
One of the worst teachers I have ever taken. Cannot teach at all. Tremendous amount of work at least for B. Boring class, I did not gain any knowledge.
Professor Clarke is a good guy who is always in a good mood. Although he is not good at explaining things, he tries hard to make the class entertaining. The financial planner was easy, he just gave everyone 23 out of 25%. Tests were so easy that you would have to be an idiot to get less than a 90. But in order to do well, you have to read the text!
He is not good at explaining the material, doesn't even know how the system for the homework works, & his slides have tons of mistakes. Tests are fair but in order to do well, you have to read the text, & he lets you bring a formula sheet to the test which helps. He's always in a good mood but very sensitive. Gives lots of x-tra credit, up to 13%!!

Horrible. I am completely lost. His notes always have something screwed up there, and he's not even the one writing them. The midterm was not so bad, since it was a take home and we had a week to do it, but the final i'm afraid to even think about. Avoid taking this class if you can.

He is a very good professor and he make the class fun with his jokes. You just have to follow what he ask and you will get good great. He is not a hard professor or a stressful class i recommend to take him.

True: He can't teach. False: his exams are difficult. Come on, he gave such simple problems on his exams. Even if you were like myself who was forced to learn all the material on my own, at least he didn't mess us over by giving killer exams. I got an A in the class and i learned everyhting on my own. He also gives a lot of Extra Credit.

He seems nice, but you need to do a lot of studying on youf own. Like another poster says, rounding wrong the answers for the HW will definitely mess you up.

Was a fairly tough class and the Prof at times was difficult to understand, but he certainly knows his stuff. I recommend doing a lot of extra study / exercises from the textbook to clarify things if you want to get an A for the class though. Nice enough guy though - likes to make jokes a lot, and even tho some fall a bit flat, he keeps trying.
Professor clark is an average professor. My advise to his students is to do all homework online (use his solution manual) and take advantage of the extra credit assignment. Hand in all work on time or else you will get zero. There is no compromising. Although midterm and finals are multiple choice, you got to read the textbook. good luck!

He is great for Corp Finance but only is at 8am classes. He doesnt really teach but one could just read the book and get a good grade. A- is possible.
He is not hard like other people say. He gave 8.5 points extra credit on a 20 point test. You have to be pretty stupid not to do well on that. That was the only test. You also have to make a business plan, which while it is time consuming, it is not difficult and it is done in groups. Other assignments are short and easy. Definitely recommend!!!

WARNING: You would be doing a lot of self study and work. (if u care about your grade). Honestly, he is not a good teacher. True, he can not teach us everything BUT he DOES NOT DIRECT his students into what is going on. He just reads slides. No motivation or excitement at all. Clarke is the man!!! He does not teach you ANYTHING, but he gives you so much extra credit!!! You have to do everything on your own, but it is not that bad. He is def the best for Corp Finance!! Read the book, figure out how to use the calculator, do the extra credit, and you will get an A in his class ( I did) he is the best!!!!

people, don't take this class during the short semesters. I took him in winter intersection.thank god, i bought the book and read it before the exams. the only plus of short semesters is ---no homework))) i wish i had more time to study, because the professor is very unclear.

First off, Prof. Clarke tries. I took the Small Business Course and was really execited about the class until he starting to teach it. Really didn't learn much from him, everything I did learn I could have just brought the book and read it on my own. DONT TAKE HIM FOR THIS COURSE, TRY ANOTHER PROF.
Small Biz mang was an easyy class. The work is simple. BUT if you fall behind on the business plan your done. The business plan is the only actual important thing in the class. The notes are all on blackboard which you do not need until the final and the final is only like 15 questions. Extra credit = EASY. overall Easy. Learned nothing.
He was okay. I learned some things from his class that can be useful for the real world. You pretty much have to teach yourself, though the class was not hard at all. His extra credit helped a lot! Got an "A" in his class.
its a mandatory class, so you just gotta stick it out. He's a nice guy & knows what he's talking about, the subject SUCKS. Gives take home midterm easy 100, extra credit during the semester randomly and extra credit due at end of semester for 5 pts. Final I didnt take yet but ill prob fail it. after midterm everythign was too CONFUSING.
well..his course was easy but it wasn't. it all revolves around a single project due at the end of the year that takes about 30 hours of work to do. take him, he's really not so bad
I'm amazed by the poor comments. This professor is great. He knows his stuff and wants his students to learn how to THINK not memorize. He is very cool, easy going and understands the pressures his students are under with work/other classes. I recommend him but beware of the short semesters. This class is amazing. Don't rush through it.
the material is not hard but he makes it simple as possible dont really need the book all the notes are on blackboard must do all hw and extra credits its possible to walk in to the final with 80pts so you only need to get 10 questions correct to get an A in the class definitely recommend
TAKE HIM! Very clear with everything...Although the material is hard he makes it super easy with a very relaxed environment. Prof Clarke is a nice guy, but he doesn't know how to teach and he is unclear as a cloudy day. his communication skills are horrible and he is a detriment to the class. most of the time no one even knows what he wants concerning the assignments!! the guy is so unclear, so ambiguous, it really begs the question who is letting this guy teach at BC!!!

Most of the assignments are redundant and plentiful. Not is ever clear. Still in the process of taking the course and needed a place to vent!!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM.

The easiest professor for Corporate Finance! He assigns 12 online homeworks which you can study from a online midterm 1 research paper that i dont even think he checks since everyone in the class got the maximum amount of points. He gives extra credit and a in class final. I also took HongJen Lin for this class. LIN is the one to AVOID at all costs
I miss taking courses with Professor Clarke. He is truly the best! I can't choose a favorite class because they were both excellent. Small Busn. and Corporate finance. Got an A in both of them!
Dont take him! This man is horrible at communicating he is very unclear when lecturing and autoamtically assumes students know what hes talking about. He does calculations on the board 98 percent of the time and the class can not even follow along because hes too confusing. TRUST ME DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Took CLARKE for the summer. the course was simple. your assigned homework to turn in every 2 days. 2 days to read a chapter then do the case study at the end of the chapter. exams are given online and can be found on the web. there is also a final grade curve! there is no reason you won't pass PERSONAL FINANCE. i enjoyed the independent study class

This is a great Professor, i just walked out the final for winter break 2015. This man knows his stuff! He makes the class enjoyable, know what he is talking about and i would definately recommed him! Rock on Professor.
Online Winter Module. Homework 45, Midterm 30, Final 25, Extra Credit Marketing Plan 10. There are 17 chapters to cover in 3 weeks, be prepared to read. Also a fairly time consuming assignment for each chapter. Don't expect much help from the professor as it is an online course. Some emails got a quick response and some were not answered at all.
Horrible professor. Doesn't teach anything, study yourself. 40 students enrolled 5 show up to class. cannot teach and students do not know anything. Find a different professor. PLEASE STAY AWAY
Professor Clarke is the absolute WORST professor I have ever had the displeasure to have in Brooklyn College. He cannot explain topics clearly and quite frankly, he has the worst teaching style I've ever experienced. I can honestly say I have not learned a SINGLE THING from his class. Stay away, stay FAR AWAY! CORPORATE FINANCE STUDENTS BEWARE
His teaching style is unclear, however, if you listen in class and read the book , you will be more than prepared for the exam. Additionally, homework - 30%, spending diary paper - 10% , midterm - 30%, final - 30%. All his tests are curved, and he gives a ton of extra credit. Not sure why people hate on him. I would highly recommend.
Pretty solid class. You may feel like the class is super hard, it really is not. Yeah it's not easy, but it's not hard either. Just put in the effort to do your assignments and ask questions! He's a nice guy and can be funny! Show up to class he does take attendance. Go because that's the only way you will learn. Can I get an AMEN?

Love Professor Clarke! Grades are made up of a midterm, final, homework, and research paper. His tests were not opened book for my class. They were a bit difficult, you definitely have to memorize small details. But overall, would recommend. He also offers extra credit!

You need to guess what should you include in your assignments and then he gives a bad grade saying that this is not what he expected ( even though he didn't give any instructions at all!) Midterms and final are in class and open book.
Decent professor. Gives a midterm and final and homework through blackboard every week. The final was easier than the midterm. He uploads notes form his lectures and slides from the text on blackboard. He has a sense of humor and is not boring. I did poorly on the midterm but really well on the final and still received an A.
Professor Clarke is very knowledgable but not the greatest teacher. He does not explain the subject matter clearly. You will have to read the text book and then come to class and listen to him talk about random topics for an hour and forty minutes. His accent is sometimes difficult to understand. Tests are mostly based on lecture. Good luck.
He has a good sense of humor and he is a very nice person, also his homework is not that hard. The only problem I have is that he doesnt give us a review sheet, and sometimes he goes to fast with his slides . His tests are very detailed so you go to read his slides, and memorize the little things.
This dude has one hell of a personality, cool dude outside of class. However, his help for his students is very limited including office hours. He tortures you with the midterm which is a difficult exam however, dont sweat it lots of extra credit available to cover his shortfalls and easy final. The GLEIM book is your life. Good luck.
If you can please avoid him. He is the toughest grader in B.C. for Masters program. Be ready to study the whole day and night. Lots of assignments, lots of work. Mid term and final term will be very hard.

4 week online marketing course. Used Connect for test and assignments and submitted one project. Just plan ahead and make note on your calendars for the assignment and test deadlines.
Great professor and really easy to talk to. Could be a little hard to follow sometimes, as he speeds through topics pretty quickly. Graded by very few things: midterm, report and final. Midterm is very hard and bombed it, but final was very easy and it made up for it entirely.
get away from him, 4 weeks online class, learn nothing. he never teaches, just post a one-page note. so confusing about the project. if you wanna to learn somethings, skip it.
I took principles of marketing class online and he is a very strict grader. If you don't put the title he wants you automatically lose points, meanwhile he doesn't even tell you what the title he wants. He barely even looks at the work you do and gives a bad grade. His tests are easy because its everything from the textbook.
I think the main reason I struggled with this class is because it was online. The whole class was based on an online simulation which was super hard to understand and he wasn't accessible outside of class. Thankfully it was a group project so we figured it out together. Probably better off taking this class in person. Still got an A tho
Subject matter isnt too hard. midterm and final as well as a project and lots of homework on connect. exams were pretty easy and projects were all easy.
Clear expectations (syllabus), including grading guidelines and prompt grading. Marketing plan in summer class was split into 5 smaller pieces which in essence, splits the workload for the final project because those pieces get rolled into it which was effective for a summer class. Key marketing concepts doc is very helpful for midterm study guide.
Review is on asynchronous online class. Prof. grades evenly between three exams, weekly homework, and a marketing plan divided in to 3 parts. This means no single assignment heavily impacts final grade. Follow instructions carefully to pass marketing plan. Exam questions are in-depth; need to read and study from textbook as powerpoint is not enough
I'm telling you run while you can he never answers his email literally nothing. Pick a different Professor so you can learn because you are paying money don't forget
Please save your money and your GPA by not taking him. The only way to get through this class is by self-teaching and by talking to your other confused peers. His lectures are long and unengaging. If you do decide to take him you will have an 8 out of 10 chance of finessing your way through. Good Luck!
2 exams, couple homework , CapSim Simulation, and 1 Business plan. Tons of group works. Easy A. A drop boring but I recommend. Not such clear instructions though.
There is not enough guidance to tell us how to do the group work. He just throws us a lot of things to do, and the homework is particularly heavy and long.
Absolutely atrocious experience. Couldn't put students into groups properly, took a few weeks to figure that out. Uses collaborate ultra instead of zoom or any other BETTER video conference applications. Doesn't clearly state the grading criteria and also can barely use internet and technology in an ONLINE CLASS. Do not waste your time with him.
AWFUL. He gives a bunch of videos that have nothing to do with the powerpoint he gives. So you literally have to teach yourself the stuff in the powerpoint (which btw he just takes it from online and scrambles the order which makes it even more difficult to understand) since you're given no more information about it - they're 60+ slides too?
The professor violated CUNY policy by not informing any students of proctoring exams. I had to figure this out myself. When I notified him of the issue, he denied his violation and insisted if I had a problem with it then I should switch classes- this unfairly would cost me money for his mistake in both tuition and textbook money I cannot get back

60 questions for 130 min. The midterm and the final was very heavy! Never take this professor!!! Save your time, money and health!

Ok tbh, the class was horrendous but this is what managers have to deal with so grow up. He is a very cool guy but during class, I couldn't understand as well so I had to read the online book during class. If you use Capsim, get in contact with your group mates or you are alone. Overall, if you are in his class, don't fear and you'll make it.
Lacks understanding If you have questions you are required to figure it out yourself. His excuse would be "your a manager you figure it out" and in addition you do not pick your group. The group is assigned as soon as your enrolled by him and if your group mates do not participate or slack off you are required to put them in check not him.
This was was online and split into two websites, On Connect, there is Homework on each chapter with a midterm and final (proctored exams). The other assignment is a group project about a business plan, he picks the group members, if your group mate don't contribute, he doesn't care, you have to pull the slack, its your grade on the line.
I would recommend you to not take this professor. The only thing he do is read what is already in connect and he don't know how to explain in an easy way. When it comes to making an essay about a business plan, he is not specific about how we should actually do it but then complains when we don't do it as how he expected. He is boring and mean.
Professor Clarke is really knowledgable, he's got jokes but his lectures are still quite dull. The Connect assignments were more engaging than the lecture, and several students would do those during the lecture. The group assignment is horrible, it's not hard but if someone isn't willing to help; the professor doesn't punish the lazy teammate.
Tests and HW on Connect. Exams are proctored (no camera, just monitoring tabs) Provides review questions which are the exact format so study them. Assigned random assignments that were confusing and useless. Asynchronous class, really hard to get ahold of him, starts to ignore emails. I needed this class otherwise I would not have taken him.
Professor Clarke's class is a mixed bag. Lectures can be dull, but the Connect assignments are more engaging. The group project is tough if your teammates don't pull their weight. Definitely use unstuck ai and the free textbook to stay on top of things.
AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS ‼️‼️He gives a bunch of group assignments and if you get a bad group you're screwed. 2 weekly hw assignments that are actually the most boring and meticulate things ever. He makes you pay $300 for 2 different online websites. He gives 2 papers. Vague assignments and doesn't answer questions normally. 2 online exams.
Prof. Clarke is funny but has pretty dull lectures. He makes you purchase connect and capsim and you will have lots of hw on connect, the Exams are proctored online. The group project was really confusing and he really doesn't explain anything so you have to figure everything out by yourself.
Stay far far away from Professor Clarke, he had the most confusing assignments, and he does not explain anything. Me and my group were so lost, he does not answer emails, he will grade you based off what he sees and does not care if you needed clarification, he is just horrible. Our entire class struggled with him.
Prof Clarke is an academic at heart. The CAPSIM project made the class more engaging and dynamic. It was nice to have exposure to operational/logistical/financing stuff because the curriculum is otherwise heavy on psychology, workplace dynamics, and ethics. Most memorable quote: "if you are good at what you do, you will eventually become a manager"

Asynch course, does not respond to emails and uses AI to "write" his weekly posts. Genuinely does not put any effort, just weekly assignments.
He is very knowledgeable about what he's talking about, but he's unfair in a lot of aspects. The CapSim project thing is just annoying because if one person is not contributing, he does not care at all, and he'll grade as a whole. And when you do try to talk to him outside of class, he doesn't want to be bothered.
