Reads straight from the test at the study sessions!!!
Awesome teacher. Thought provoking.
One of Auburn's finest.
worst ever - rude
this guy has an amazing mind
Best teacher I have ever had... made us laugh the whole time. Legal Reasoning Rocked!
Great Teacher! Don't be fooled by laid back nature..you are expected to learn! Legal Reasoning
bad teacher.stay away.
One of the best teachers I've had at Auburn! Only 2 tests per semester. Gives all the information at the review before the test. He's brilliant and I would highly recommend taking any of his classes!
Great funny and really smart... you actaully want to go to his class to hear what he has to say. His classes are interesting and he gives you the test questions for the test before hand! MY BEST TEACHER IN AUBURN!
this guy is awful...
Bad Ass teacher, hilarious, and makes boring material fun. A MUST HAVE for any law student!
i dont know what these people are talking about he is sooo hard and perhaps insane. is not clear have to teach yourself..not a good instructor. very nice though and has a great weird humor. dont take if you can avoid him
bad teacher. he loves himself.
Great teacher. Incredibly smart. Sometimes hard to understand because of his accelerated vocabulary. Makes going to class fun. One of Auburn's best.
stay away. bad teacher.
HeCanBeDifficultToKeepUpWithBecauseThere'sSoMuch materialToReadInSuch a LimitedAmountOfTime. His testsSuckBalls! ThereAreOnly2AndTheAnswersAre moreLessHitOrMiss. It'sDifficultToMakeA correlationBetween theQuestions and answers because they lack clarity. If you're not serious about law or have your doubts, STAY AWAY IT'S NOT WORTH THE STRESS YOU ENDURE
The man is a genious. If you actually GO to class and take notes and even occassionally read the material you'll do fine. I skipped regularly and just crammed for the tests and got A's without too much agony. He give most of the info at the review the day before the test.
awesome teacher, only take this class if you plan to go to law school, though.
BOTTOM LINE... "TOO MUCH INTO HIMSELF" NOT WORTH ALL THE "DRAMA". STAY AWAY!
Horrible teacher, funny at times, only two tests and very hard!
good guy, but as another student stated "his tests suck balls!" only take the course if you have the time to devote to it.
his tests are rediculous, but if you cram for them the night before you can do alright. u don't have to go to class, but if u do, its always interesting...he'll talk about tripping balls on peoti and doing other drugs. not a bad class.
This class felt hard the whole time, but really wasn't. You have a midterm and a final. Just look over your notes from class(you should go everyday)the day before the test and you'll be fine. If you go to his office hours, he's very helpful, and loves that you care. His teaching style is intense, and intimidating at first, but he knows his stuff.
The man is CRAZY and his class his hard. He will make you laugh all day though.
Dr. Perry is the best professor Auburn has. I have taken EVERY class he teaches. You can learn more from him than any other professor. If you're preLaw then he's an absolute must. Only 2 grades a semester, midterm and final. It's important to go to class and take notes. He's brilliant and could teach law anywhere. Auburn is extremely lucky.
cliff is crazy but he's smart.. go to class and his office frequently
definitely not a waste of time, i promise you that.if you feel like actually learning then you got the man.
He is by far my favorite teacher! Go to class, take notes, and don't be afraid to ask questions. He loves it when you participate! He makes the material interesting.
Perry is very well intentioned and certainly doesn't aim to be hard to understand, he just is because as well as being very intelligent his brain just works differently than most peoples. I got a B and I was fine with that but I must say I know several people failed so proceed at you own risk. Some love him, some hate him, I liked him ok
He's very knowledgable but teaches much better when you tell him what you didn't understand what he was talkin about the first time
Fantastic professor. Very helpful and engaging. Attendance is not mandatory, but I found that attending class made understanding the text easier. Take tons of notes. Don't be afraid to negotiate for the whole class on grades. My class convinced him to make the midterm count less after we all sucked it up. Subjective, but to the benefit of the class
EXTREMILY helpful. loves teaching and loves his students. will do anything to help you.
Great teacher, so intelligent that he is sometimes hard to understand. But as long as you ask enough questions to take decent notes you will do well. I learned more from Dr. Perry than I have from any other professor so far at Auburn. He is also extremely funny. Makes jokes on himself all the time. TAKE THIS CLASS, IT IS A MUST!
Dr. Perry, as confirmed by some of my other professors, is the smartest man at AU. In taking his classes you make think that he uses an extremely extensive vocabulary but it is just a testament of how truly intelligent and knowledgeable he is. If you don't take Dr. Perry, you are missing out on one of AUs best professors.
He's so incredibly smart and so enthusiastic over what he teaches. He makes class fun. But unfortunately for me, I had trouble understanding his terminology and his exams kind of confused me, so I didn't do so well. Despite that, I wouldn't mind taking him again because he is a great professor.
Law school is now a review because of his classes.
the best teacher i have ever had in my life
Of all the teachers I have ever had, he is by far the most intelligent. If you aren't serious about law don't even bother. He operates way above the intellect of most people. Those who have said he is not a good instructor were probably upset because they lacked the interest or acumen to be there in the first place.
This class was so hard, but i don't regret taking him for a second. He is obnoxious, funny, interesting and brilliant! The material is extremely difficult but he tries his very best to help you to understand.I would love to go out and party with this man!If you like law-TAKE HIM! but i will warn you-you HAVE TO STUDY!
Amazing Professor!! You definitely have to work hard, and his tests are hard, but I learned more in this class than any other I have had at auburn. No BS kind of a guy. Take him and your vocab will improve just by being in class!!
I have taken every class he teaches and he is AMAZING!!!! He puts multi-state bar exam questions on his tests but I'm not kidding, if you have ANY interest in law, you will LOVE HIM! Read the cases, take notes in class, ASK QUESTIONS and STUDY! He'll make the class worth your while!
Had Perry for Medical Ethics. By far, the most interesting and enjoyable class I had in college (and I was on the 7 year plan).
Dr. Perry is pretty cool. I'm reasonably sure he does use a large amount of narcotics. Class was reasonably in depth, but presented in a simple way. Went kind of deep to get across points that turned out to be simple. High use of the textbook, but reading before class isn't a MUST, it just helped. I'm going to take him again
He's the best professor I've had at Auburn! Class can be difficult, but he is more than willing to help you understand the material.I also believe he is the smartest and funniest guy I've ever met..definitely makes class worthwhile! TAKE HIM!!
Interesting class, but could not understand a thing! He tries to use vocabulary that is too hard for an average person to understand. I literally wrote a list of words he used that I didn't understand and had to look them up in the dictionary! It felt like he unnecesarily made the class harder. Besides that, he was interesting guy.
Amazing teacher. He may seem hard, but I am currently in law school and am very glad that I took him during my undergraduate education. It is because of him that I am flying through the first year of law school. Definitely take him (seriously).
Cliff is HILARIOUS, i look forward to going to his classes because they are entertaining and interesting. Test are kind of difficult if you dont go to class. so go and enjoy!!
Great class - one midterm and a final with a generous curve on each. Took as an elective as a biomedical science major and, even though it was very foreign, I found the material very interesting. Looked forward to going to class - Clif is hilarious and extremely smart. Would definitely recommend the class.
HE is AMAZING! i took him for evidence and i also had him for health law. i went in the youngest in both classes and i was terrified. He is really smart and does use elaborate language but if you go to class and do the reading you will be fine. And if not you can go to his office hours with questions and he will help you with anything!
Cliff has a wonderful understanding and enthusiasm for the subjects he teaches. I have taken two law courses from him and feel enlightened after class. It is a CONCEPTS no facts he teaches and, it is I feel excellent prep. for law school.
he is the reason I went to law school. Ethics was the best class I took at Auburn.
This was the most boring class that I have ever taken which is why it is so hard. He uses to many big words in class and on both tests so its hard to decipher what he means. He only offers two tests and thats it. If you don't do good on the first one then a withdrawal is going to be necessary.
Dr. Perry (Klif) was my teacher years ago. Great. Intriguing. Inspirational. (I ended up in the same field.) Always willing to discuss the issues, adding more than class-time allowed. Take his class if you want to learn how to think clearly about current issues. You'll remember what you learned. Not easy, though. You'll need to study.
I also took POLI 5170, 3370 and 3360 with him. Brilliant man and always open to discussion or questions because his legal vocabulary can confuse anyone. Incredibly helpful during office hours as well. Always curves tests. Never made lower than a C. Must read on your own to keep pace for B and above grades. Highly recommend
If you are thinking of going to law school TAKE THIS CLASS. And every class you can with Dr. Perry. You should even actually read the assignments sometimes. Learning to read cases is a skill, and if you develop it before law school you will have an advantage. Even at a T14, I feel like taking his classes made me more prepared than many of my peers.
Dr. Perry... (he insists that we call him Cliff)... I address him as 'Dr. Perry' because he deserves it. Brilliant, energetic, hilarious, genuinely concerned if you learn or not. He will bend over backwards for you. He wants you to ask questions... so that he can help. TAKE HIM! GO TO CLASS! ASK FOR HELP IF NEDDED! Best Professor at Auburn.
I recommend taking Fed. Jurisdiction with Perry. Your entire grade comes from the midterm and final, so there's no useless busywork. Admittedly he can be hard to follow during lecture, but he has long office hours and encourages students to come. After an average grade on the midterm, I went to his office every week and got a high A on the final.
Dr. Perry is the most brilliant man I've ever met. He is extremely qualified, and knows all the material he teaches. His tests are extremely difficult and complicated. I scored a 98 on the first test (80 average) and a 72 on the final (72 average). Final was the hardest test I've ever taken. You must study, but I learned so much in this course.
Dr. Perry, though he insists that i call him Cliff, i refuse of course. The man knows his stuff and is so invested in his students success. I made a 96 in his class. I genuinely enjoy his tests as they are entertaining. If you want to go to lawyer take any class with him because it helps astronomically. Currently have an A in his Federal Jurisdict
Federal Jurisdiction has been the best class I've taken at Auburn. Cliff is brilliant so his lectures can be overwhelming, but he encourages questions and office hours are super helpful. The tests are pretty rough multiple choice, but I'm pretty sure he gives partial credit if you write out your reasoning.
I took his Law and Society class and was bored out of my mind. You do nothing but go over the book in class and often is hard to understand the point Cliff is trying to get across. He relies heavily on class participation and though I went every day, there was very little open discussion.
Dr. Perry is the best professor I have had at Auburn. Lectures are critical as well as the readings he assigns. Very brilliant and lectures are funny and engaging. He loves students to be apart of the discussion and office hours are super helpful. Tests are very hard but if you read, attend class, and ask questions likely to make an A.
Brilliant professor. Engaging, helpful, and wants the best for his students. Exams are convoluted and very tricky. I wish that he offered more grades than just a midterm and a final, because taking a class of his is like playing with fire. Good practice for law school nonetheless.
Perry is hands down the best professor I have had at Auburn. Brilliant man and incredibly qualified. He also genuinely cares about your understanding of the material and wants to help. His classes have prepared me extremely well for law school. Don't take his classes unless you are serious about law school or aren't willing to work
Dr. Perry is easily the best prof. I've ever had. Passionate about the material & makes lectures fast paced & exciting, each lecture is full of important material. All of his classes are mid term & final only, but he usually curves the tests pretty generously & will throw out an outlier, wants you to do well & succeed, go see him in office hours!!
Dr. Perry is brilliant and incredibly qualified. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the material he teaches. He genuinely cares about students' understanding and wants to help at any chance possible. The only grades in all his classes are only the midterm and the final, so effort and preparation is key. Overall a great professor.
An absolutely incredible professor who is very knowledgable. He doesn't require you to come to class, but if you don't you will be fairly lost. He only has a midterm and a final which are both quite hard but he curves very generously and really helps if you go to his office hours.
Dr. Perry (Or Clif as he prefers to be called) is an outstanding professor and a treasure to Auburn University. I took this class due to interest in the content (Im a STEM student) and I absolutely got what I bargained for, if not more. Clifs passion really shows in how he handles his students. Absolutely recommend him.
Cliff is brilliant. I've had him now for Federal Jurisdiction, Evidence & legal reasoning, Law & Society, and I'm about to take him for Judicial Process and Administrative law. Only has two grades: midterm and final so if you don't like that or tests for that matter, don't take his class but you will learn a lot from him (great if you're prelaw)
Dr. Clif is a great professor and pretty funny. He gives great lectures. The only real issue with him is that you only have two grades for the whole semester, a midterm and a final. If you just take notes you should be fine.
He is brilliant & funny which helps with the long lectures. I took him for Evidence & Federal Jurisdiction and it was ALOT. I ended up with B's but with only two grades, it's a hit or a miss. The tests seem very hard but he scales them so it's easy to get a C/B if you put in a reasonable amount of work. If you go to every class you can get an A
Went to most classes, which were extremely hard to follow. Studied very hard for both exams and did not do well on either. Asked for help in his office hours, but did not receive any direction or guidance. Was very interested in law before, but now am not confident that I can pursue the field.
This was by far the hardest class I've taken, but he really is an amazing professor! Just be ready to put in the work for the grade you want - the only grades are the midterm and final.
sweet man. hard to understand, but tests are usually clear cut if you've been going to class, a lot of questions have to do with things he thinks are funny. read the book if you're lost and it would be helpful to read before you come to class so you understand better. pay attention and study. only midterm and final, but heavily weighted
I took him for Evidence & finished with a B+, but I never went to that class & it was significantly more difficult than Law & Society. With a bit more effort I couldve had an A. I finished Law & Society with an A+ because I went to every class & truly tried. Hes an awesome guy & I highly recommend. He is absolutely brilliant10/10 from me!
have taken 2 classes with this man and went a few times for evidence and ended up with and 87 and he rounded my average to an A. second time for judicial process i didnt go to class one time and ended with a B+.
Perry is by far the best professor I have ever had. He is extremely intelligent and hilarious, as well. A ton of people skip his classes, as attendance is not mandatory, but I genuinely believe they are missing out. I feel like I learn more from him than any professor I have had before. He only has two exams, but they are heavily weighted.
I really like professor perry, but he is hard to follow. If you go to class and try to follow along, you'll pick up more than you think. He's very accessible and loves when people ask questions. Your grade is a midterm and a final that are heavily curved.
Grade is two tests (Midterm and Final). Attendance is not mandatory but if you want a good grade, you're gonna want to show up. He is often hard to follow, but things will kinda start to make sense as semester goes on. Super witty, and his class often is the highlight of my day
so hard. dont take if possible. went to every class and made a d on final. and i paid attention
The class was relatively easy, but Clif is the worst. You can never hear what he says and he goes on the worst tangents. The stuff he puts on the board is his handwritten notes and his handwriting is illegible. I had to teach myself all of the material and the textbook is pretty hard to understand. There are two grades-- midterm and final.
Lectures are hard to follow. His note is hard to read. Only graded by two exams and use a lot of big words in exams for no reason.
Cliff Perry is a character. His class is tough, but I enjoyed it. Cliff is funny. It's hard to understand his lecture at first but you'll quickly figure out his way. Class isn't mandatory but it helps to go. Buy the book! Only has two grades- a midterm/final. That can be sort of stressful but he does curve. I definitely will take him again.
I love Dr. Perry. He is hilarious and very engaging and loves it when his students ask questions. His lectures can be a little confusing, but if you read and go to class, you'll do fine. He also curves his tests A LOT so don't worry about the fact that he only has two grades for the entire class.
Dr. Perry is the best professor that I have ever had. He is hands down one of the smartest people that I have ever met. He is very passionate about his lectures, he has passed the bar in multiple states, and is a super good person to have a foot in the door with. He gives two exams that are challenging but prepares you for law school! Very funny!
Dr. Perry is a great professor. You'll wonder what you got yourself into taking his class, but once you get over his teaching style -- which will take a while -- you'll know the information forwards and backwards. He's super accessible outside class and is always willing to meet with students if they need help. And he is ridiculously funny
Clif is an amazing professor. Although his lectures can be hard to follow, if you attend office hours and follow along with the questions in the BOOK in class, you should be fine. I can't wait to take him again and can't recommend him enough.
Dr. Perry does not take role, but you do yourself a disservice if you do not attend his class. The man is insanely passionate about the course material, and will talk to you at midnight to help you. His tests and lectures are initially difficult to comprehend because of his eloquence, but incredibly beneficial long-term. Brilliant, kind man.
This my second class with him and I will be taking more. The only grades you receive are for the midterm and final so each are 50%. If you actually study you will do good. Not going to lie I went to make 3 classes and the midterm and final reviews and ended with a B because of how good he does his reviews. You get what you put into it.
I've had Cliff for three classes, and I'm taking one again next semester. He's really passionate about the material. If you go to class and talk to him you'll do well. He's pretty funny also. Graded by two exams, but they will be easy if you put in the work. Go to office hours, he likes it when people go and if you get to know him he's really nice.
I LOVE DR PERRY!! This class's only grades are the midterm and final each worth 50%. His lectures can be hard to follow sometimes but he is super accessible outside of class. I would recommend going to class even though they're not mandatory as it'll help you later. The book he uses is so helpful so make sure to read everything in that.
Dr. Perry is super entertaining. There are 2 grades, midterm and final, they are hard but he curves. Your life will be SO much easier if you just go to class instead of trying to play catch-up the day before the exam.
Dr. Perry is a great guy and an amazing professor. You're graded by two exams, a midterm and a final (50% each). This is a very tough course and I recommend you have a pretty substantial background knowledge of evidence law before taking the class. I studied and read daily, and made a B; my first ever. He makes you learn, not a freebie course.
Only 2 grades for the class, and it takes a while to get used to his lecture style. But he is fantastic and ensures that you understand the material well if you reach out and ask questions.
This class is graded by 2 tests but they aren't overly hard and getting an A is so doable as long as you put in like 70% effort. He loves when people go to his office hours and is so accessible outside of class. This class itself is so boring but he makes his lectures pretty funny most of the time.
Professor Perry can be quirky, but his class is worthwhile. Lectures take some getting used to, but using the textbook and unstuckstudy tools made prepping for the midterm and final exams much easier. Recommended for those who enjoy a challenge.
