He is a ver good professor. In the beginning of the class, you might feel uncomfortable because the material is a little bit difficult and his first quiz will look like from somewhere outside this world, but not to worry, it will get better.

Dr. Poe is so much fun! He is very passionate about astronomy. He is also very helpful and easy going.....not so much worried about the right answer but that you learn and understand the universe you're in. He also does cute funny, interesting things A+++

Dr. Poe is an excellent Astronomy teacher. He makes the class lively and interesting for such a boring subject. Easy A if you study the book, do all the HW, and attend class on a regular basis. Nice guy all around, take him for lab as well.

Great teacher! Nice, understanding, and extremely passionate about his job! He seems to love astonomy more than anything! Just buy the lecture notes and study them and you'll be set! There are only 6 quizes and thr final and about 5 ez homwork worksheets.

Great Teacher. Makes Lab and Lecture fun. Take him for both Lab and Lecture. Lecture is kind of dry sometimes but the study guide is very helpful. You don't have to like Astronomy, but Mr. Poe teaches you how to apreciate the subject.

Nice & helpful. Explains Astronomy very clear. Gives a total of 6 Quizzes (Drops 2 of the lowest scores) & gives a 80 Question Final exam. Most questions for the Final are from the 6 Quizzes. Easy exams if you study, but don't try to cheat you will get caught

He's a super cool teacher. This class is so kick back especially if you have any of the old tests. Lecture is boring, but if you read the book, then you're set. You really only need to go to class to turn in the homework&extra credit. Good luck!

Dr. Poe has an ingenious teaching style and is passionate about his work. To get a good grade in his class may be almost effortless because he has the ability to make it interesting to learn.

Very easy. Just go to class longest lab took 2 hours. Go in and just get it done not hard at all.

HE'S AWSOME!!! He's really nice and has a really cute sense of humour. He does get off topic a bit but still really good at explaining and making astro interesting. I truly enjoyed his class and having him as a teacher. He may be easy but what's great about him is he makes you want to learn.

This Teacher is soooo boring

This is a very challenging subject. However, Mr. Poe eases it a bit. Although his tests aren't that easy, he is a very lenient grader. Labs were fairly easy and were basically free points if you completed them. There were 6 tests, of which the lowest 2 were dropped. It's apparent he has passion for the subject material, overall a great teacher.

Dr. Poe is an excellent professor. Not only is he an expert in physical sciences, but he also passionate about the sciences. He makes learning interesting and is willing to do whatever it takes to help you succeed. If all professors were like Dr. Poe, students would certainly be more interested in learning and have a much higher success rate.

Great Teacher. very passionate about astronomy. Tries to make it easy and simple to understand for us "non astronomers". Very helpful, very thorough and explains exactly what he expects you to know. he is a very helpful teacher and I would highly recommend him. He has a great sense of humor too.

I only had Poe for lab, but I can tell that he's a very knowledgeable man. He explains the purpose of the lab really well and his handouts are easily understandable for the science-impaired (such as myself). You pretty much get an A in the class for attending all the labs besides two, which he drops. :)

GREAT TEACHER!!! took him for atomic phys.. it has to be a hard class to teach but he does a good job at it... just try and go to class.. if he sees that you are trying he will help you as much as he can

Papa is a great teacher I ever known. He is not only a professor, but he is also a famous astronomer. He is now working at NASA in Mountainview City. I would recommend you guys to take his class not only for an A, but also to build your knowledge about our universe. Great class, easy, fun, and useful.

He is the only top teacher at Mission College I've seen so far. He teaches more than minimum requirement just in 4A - good for people that need Physic in the long term. He has a passion teaching and it shows. Help? - No problem. You will see that every minute of the class is used for something productive catered to the students wanting to learn.

Dr. Poe is an all-around great person. Very helpful and nice and a great teacher. Come to class with questions and you'll learn a lot from him. One minor criticism: he's a terrible artist...Stick figures galore!

He's simply an awesome instructor. I've never understood physics concepts in my life, and he can actually explain everything to me with crystal-clear clarity. Easy A if you attend every class meeting. Pay attention to his lectures. Do the homework. He's also extremely helpful and friendly.

took astro 1 & 2 - wouldn't take any other teacher but poe. If you're lazy, you can pass with a B, if you pay attention and read you can get an A. not super easy but not hard at all. he's really nice and will help you out when you ask. DON'T PAY THE TEXT BOOK - he gives you his version on Angel

TAKE POE FOR ASTRONOMY! He is an easy going guy who genuinely enjoys teaching. Although astronomy is a broad subject to learn, Poe is the guy to take! His quizzes are pretty staightforward and no surprises because its all in the studyguides he gives you.

He truly loves what he does and that makes his class very pleasurable. He also got me to love astronomy and all things earth. He always says that he doesn't understand why people hate rain because without it, we wouldnt have this beautiful earth to live on...now I tell everyone the same thing...lol. Work hard=A

Professor Poe is a great teacher! he truly love what he does and it makes us love it to. you have to do a lot of things in class but it is expected when you have to do labs. you usually get out early when you do labs because it doesn't take that long to do it. Trust me it takes some time but you still get out like 30 min to an hour early.

One of the best profs I have experienced. He is really cool guy, loves his job and makes the class enjoyable. My only regret is that he does not teach Phys 4B and C. He drops 2 lowest tests of 6, HW is not mandatory but you should do it anyway if you want an A. The labs are very applicable to the exams, so make sure to take notes.

took the lab class, very easy teacher and super nice! he let me turn in late homework, didnt receive full credit but more than half credit. His quizzes are pretty easy because our homework questions are almost the same. also his study guides are extremely helpful.You don't need to buy a textbook, his study guides cover every thing. TAKE HIM!

have to read yourself text book kind of sucks. tests are decent. final kind of hard. no homework. should read befor class to understand it better. easier then the other physics prof at mission but u have to study on your own bc lectures is not enough.

Professor Poe is so great! He his so nice and sweet! He grades you on labs, homework participation and a project. Not just on exams only. He is laid back. Very helpful! And he loves teaching. I would recommend taking his class!

I failed almost all of the quizzes (my laziness). Since the final was based on the quizzes, I studied those and got a B on the final and the overall class. Not bad for something who is terrible at school. LOVE this professor. He keeps the class interesting and is genuinely passionate about astronomy. Although the class was easy, I learned SO much.

He is most awesome teacher.I got A his class.He will take 6 tests,drop the lowest 2.Final is super hard,but just go through all concepts of questions on quizes.I got 91% overall on tests and 83% on final,final was 25 % though.Ended up getting A.Just do homework problems and notes problems,you will be fine.I wish i could take 4B,4C,4D with him too.

I just can't say how much I owe to this man. I had taken the same course with mel vaughn from west valley, and I was doing so bad that I had to drop the course, took the same exact course with him the next semester and I easily earned an A while learning every details of the course material. so yes you can get an A, and you will learn alot !!!

Poe is an amazing professor! But I got my first B in this class because physics is a very difficult course. He gives 6 exams and drops lowest 2. The final was really hard. Make sure you study a lot! His writing is a little messy. Just do a lot of hw problems and you'll get an A or B. Highly Recommended

Great teacher, cool guy. Did a great job at walking myself and the other students through the complex world of quantum mechanics. Very knowledgeable on the subject even though it is a rarely taught course and I had to wait a year and a half for them to offer it. Gives good advice and seems to have a huge passion for physics, very inspirational.

Dr. Poe is a great person all around. Listen to his course lecture and his lecture about life. The man is smart, do not try to fool him. His tests are fair and the final is tough. I previously took physics at a college in the quarter system. Poe's better (and slightly easier). But don't underestimate the class. Physics is tough regardless of what school you are at. His final is insane. Tests are fair. Practice homework. Do labs. Ask questions. Really helpful. Only reason why I lowered his clarity is because of handwriting.

Dr. Poe is a great professor none the less, make sure to pay attention in class and ask those around you for notes because his hand writing is hard to understand. Or just look at his online notes he will post up. I came to class every day except the last day, and got a C. If study group is offered. DO IT. Big Curve for final.

Great professor! His test are fair, but the final is really hard. 6 test and drops the lowest 2 (50%), labs (15%), and the final (35%). He curves the final, and the final grade in the class. His handwriting is horrible!!!

Physics 4A. I wish he taught the series. 6 tests, drops lowest 2. No hw, only suggested hw. Labs are due on time. Final is really hard. He curved 5% for our class. My final grade was a 77% but he also curved final grades. I earned a B

Took his Astro course with lab and oh man! Learned so much while not stressing about my grade for a second! Super chill and fun guy, really cares about his students. Definitely a MUST take for that easy A!

He is a great teacher but talks a lot when it's lecture day which is boring. Do the labs, pass the quizzes and HW and you will get a good grade. He drops 2 quizzes out of 6 and drops 2 labs. There are no midterms and it's about 25 questions each quiz and 1 final. Everything that will be in the final is in the 6 quizzes.

He doesn't penalize you for attendance but his class consists of labs so you do need to attend class, he gives out hw in class too. I enjoyed his class but sometimes he scatters information that I misinterpreted him a few times or overlooked one concept and it screwed w/ my lab but overall he is good and simple. Simply do your work.

On his tests, he does ask questions that you've never heard before so you have to think critically and you can't rely on memorizing processes, which can be hard. Great guy though!

Great guy, great lecturer with hilarious subtle jokes. Overall a very enjoyable class and I learned a lot. Easiest way to study is by going to all the AEWs and doing practice tests from previous classes and occasionally reviewing his online notes.

Prof. Poe is a wonderful professor. He's always helpful and is really caring toward his students. We even got to do a rocket launch demo as a part of our lab. Prof. Poe's tests are 4-6 questions each, 1.5 hrs per test. He's a fair grader when it comes to labs and tests. Best of all, no mandatory homework! I definitely recommend his class!

One of the best professors I've ever had. I learned a lot from his astronomy class and actually retained it due to his effective teaching style. Mission College is lucky to have him because he could definitely be teaching at Universities.

Harder/not as fun in Zoom online format, but he's really passionate and loves astronomy. HW is a few multiple choice/short answer. Quizzes are all multiple choice, timed, must attend according to when your class starts. Total is 9 HW's and 5 Quizzes, then several labs you do by yourself and a Final Exam with similar Q's to the quizzes.

I genuinely loved taking this class, and that's saying a lot since the semester was online. His passion for astronomy really shows through in his lectures. Overall a wonderful teacher, I would 100% recommend him to anyone taking Astro.

He is amazing at helping you understand the concepts, and provides ample resources as well. He grades based on whether you understand the concepts/processes as opposed to whether it's correct or not. There's one test per topic, and some fairly easy labs and practice problems. Definitely pay attention in class, and attend the weekly AEW's for help.

Take this class before he retires! Long lectures, but he makes it fun! Very clear notes given, clear on slides, makes jokes, very understanding! Put in the work and you will learn, have fun and walk away with a good grade! 5 tests and final exam all very clear and easy if you look over notes! Tries to make labs fun! Truly loves teaching!

i recommend to take this class to cover your physics class requirements, he has amamzing leactures and he is easy to understand, he explains everything very clear, to quizzes and test just study the material and you'll for sure pass, this class peaked my interest to learn more about astronomy

Prof Poe has a real knack for teaching astronomy and incorporates many fun and insightful labs. He speaks with a contagious passion that'll make you want to take up astronomy as your career. Tests are all multiple choice and are very similar to the quizzes and lectures. Always up for questions after class. Class is a breeze if you try at all. Great

Best professor ever

Had a great fall semester taking his class! Very clear about expectations, and also handed out physical forms of labs and papers even if they where already provided online. Very considerate of you just communicate your situation and needs ahead of time. Always willing to answer any questions you have. Just make sure to study for the tests still!

Heck yeah I want to be an Aerospace Engineer maybe Astrophysicist so the astronomy class really helped me have an outlook on what I might have to do in the future. As a dual enrollment HS student just focus in class and take notes, I can't focus on long lectures but I like how the professor explains pretty well and he is really nice too!

If you are failing or succeeding in his class, he still treats you with respect nonetheless. Although his lectures are long, they are informative and he uses some humor in them. He's an approachable and caring professor with students. The passion he has for astronomy and science makes the class better !

Dr. Poe was very caring to all of his students, read off slides for lectures, and posted them. Make sure to skim diagrams on slides. Practice quizzes are like the tests, and tests are exactly like the final. Drops the lowest test. No HW. Labs were very easy, class often ended an hr early. Overall, easy GE, he is approachable and actually cares.
