My byars is so involved in his teaching. He is very real with you and really doesn't treat you like you are lesser than him. he is very intersting and very helpful

hes a great teacher except he was too damn politcal !!! hes a liberal democrat (even though he wont admit it) and all his assingments were how the Bush adminstration sucks and the clinton adminstration is gods gift to mankind. (when i had him 03) he want us to compare and contrast the bush andmin. to the clinton admin. when i told him this was immpossible because bush was only there for 2 yrs and clinton 8 he got mad and always graded me a little harder bc i was more politcally active then the other kids.

Byars is a great writer and a great educator. Forget everything you thought you knew about writing, because it's wrong. He'll show you the correct way to write, and the different forms of writing. He wants you to be your own writer, not write like someone else.

Mr. Byars is a great teacher. I acutally LEARNED how to write paper and the rules of writing effectively. He speaks of politics often, which is rather annoying and in one class he discussed inappropriate subject matter, but if you can get past that, he's wonderful. Sometimes unorganized, but you will learn and have a good time!

As a prof. Mr. Byars was ok. I admit he is always willing to help you after class if you need it. Gives you his ph.#. However he has very deep political opinions that he should not try to push on others. Hint:If you're not an Obama fan, DON'T even bring up the subject!!! I did learn in his class but I saw a side of him that I did not enjoy at all.

Byars will really teach you how to write and he will take so much time out of his day/night to help you succeed. I write a column and I still learned a lot about good writing. Topics are student selected but they must be issues. So, if you're kinda superficial or you live in a box, good luck! only complaint is that he is a little scattered.no book!

i had him for a remedial english course but by far the best english teacher at northwest vista i would have taken him for 1301 and 1302 but his class times didnt fit my schedule i would definitly take him if you have the chance. he helps you whenever you need it. he makes class fun and keeps you looking forward to each class.

Great teacher! Always willing to help. Homework is fairly simple and short. You don't "earn" your grade, you have to bring yourself down to get a bad grade.

Took him a year ago in the summer and he wasn't that horrible. For those who wrote bad comments about him are not willing to work hard. He's funny though and is willing to help you when available. Has office hours and he's willing to work with you if you need help. He helps you develop papers in a write way instead of just stacking them for more work.

Professor Byars is the most generous professor I have taken at NVC. He provides sufficient amount of help and is availabe to answer your questions through various times of the day. The work he provides is fairly easy and straight forward. It is dissappointing to see such poor remarks made towards him and his teaching style.

Awesome guy, very helpful. He prepares you for the next level and makes sure everyone has the same skill set. You wont be disappointing. May be too easy, but easy A if you're good with MLA and Microsoft Word.

Mr. Byars was one of the best professors I have had the pleasure of learning from. He makes sure you understand how to set up your work so he can give you a good grade. He was very interested in making sure the class learned. Doesn't like to use the text book but it learned a lot regardless.

I took him for ENGL1301 & now 1302. He doesn't use the textbook. He provides his cellphone number for you to call him for help anytime. I struggled with writing, but he will work with you, you just have to ask. He stresses usage of MLA Format, the rules for using commas, & NoodlesTools for source citation. Do your best, show you're learning & improving, & you'll be fine. He has 3 essays & the research paper. He uses tests/quizzes to gauge your understanding. My 1301 grade:A 1302 mid-term grade:A

Out of all my teachers, he was by far my favorite. The guy is pretty funny and really laid back. He's willing to help you if your willing to do the work. He does have a strict format for writing papers but its only to help you. Do not need a textbook, and he hardly ever give you homework. Highly recommend him to anymore taking English.

Mr. Byars is very clear in what he wants on his assignments to give you examples galore and spells it out for you. The only improvement would be that he grades a little faster.

He's a good and funny teacher, very specific about what he wants and will provide his personal phone number to call him anytime you need help. He will take some time to grade your assignments and give you feedback though.

I love this guy! Mr. Byars is the coolest most real guy ever. He is very picky about how you format your essays, like in MLA format, and he makes you number your commas with a print out of 8 comma rules you use in when writing. but other then that he is there to make sure you understand the material. I would take this class again any day!

His goal is for you to learn the materials and remember what he taught you. He also wants you to pass his class so he will give extra points if you do little things to your paper. He also lets you redo a paper for a better grade later on. And he wants you to pass his class so much that a part of your final you can persuade him to change your grade.

I took Mr.B for Eng1301 and 1302. His instructions are clear, he walks you through your test, he is laid back, and will help you in anyway he can! I got an easy A both semesters, but I also learned useful information on writing techniques.

Mr. Byars is seriously a gem. He cares about his students and is always available to them at all times if you choose to seek him. He's hilarious (beyond belief) and will humorously rant on occasion. Excellent methods of teaching but if you don't attend on a regular basis you WILL miss out on a lot. I learned so very much in his class, loved it too.

Amazing teacher! He makes English fun honestly, you usually have homework everyday but it's so easy it's just basic learning of clauses and phrases. He doesn't care about your grade only if you LEARN! he cares a lot about his students he's an amazing person. My first semester of college and I'm glad I picked him!

Mr. Byars is beyond a great professor. He cares deeply for the students and their grades. If there is any small misunderstanding whatsoever that the student may have, Mr. Byars is more than glad to explain, and is on call for help.

He is very passionate about his comma rules, most of your learning. He is also very big on MLA format. Those are the two things he pushes all semester. His class is very easy. Literally, do the work and you will pass. Hes really not big on grading but more interested in you putting in effort and showing that your learning. It was a good class.

I love Byars hes my favorite English teacher so far. He really likes to be interactive with the students so he does get upset when no one participates. If you pay attention then youll pass. There are some tests but he usually repeats the questions. Extra credit is given when you participate. Also dont be late to class. No book needed.

Mr. Byars is one of my favorite professors. For his assignments you just need to read the rubric and do what you're supposed to do. It's an easy A if you do your work!
