Bro Williams is awesome! Make sure to memorize those lists he gives you and the tests will be extremely easy. I've learned so much from the Book of Mormon with him as my teacher.
Great teacher.
he's an excellent teacher, he listens and you learn something new everyday!
You learn plenty, you don't have too much work. He may come off a little arrogant, but does care about the individual.
Williams is a great teacher. The class I took from him was an honors class, but it was so easy. He is a great instructor because he goes so in depth with the material being studied rather than outside material. This is a great Book of Mormon class.
Great Teacher, super easy class if you just go to class and study very little.
Willy is a great teacher, and he has really fast and easy exams. I can't even tell it's an honors class, plus you learn a lot just by going to class.
The first test was hard, but i didn't study well. The second one was a breeze! Defintely memorize those lists he puts on the powerpoints! Sooo helpful! You learn tons if you can stay awake in class! ;)
Really good teacher. Tests are not too terrible, but if you don't do well he lets you do makeup work for it.
Very easy, but a tad boring. You learn a little bit, but he can come across as arrogant.
Entirely too easy........almost insultingly easy. If you like fceling like you're back in a Sunday School class for 14 yr olds then take him.
Prof. Williams is a great man with an unbelievable knowledge pf the scritpures- i was amazed at what he knew. However, he is pretty boring, extremely easy (almost ridiculously easy, and fairly dry. If you are looking to learn alot (like pre-mission), i highly recommend another teacher.
He's a great guy w/ a huge knowledge of the scriptures. He makes sure to point out little things in the scriptures that we normally miss. Memorize the lists given in lectures and turn in the search q's, slides were posted on blackboard.
Pretty good professor. He's sarcastic with a lot of really dry humor. Not a hard class. He is very organized in his presentation, but has a tendency to rush through everything just before the exam. No major papers required--just an application paper and a short one page summary of readings.
Um.. I really didn't like this professor. He is a nazi about attendance and tardiness, taking huge amounts of points off for both.. no mercy. Even though he has a huge knowledge of the BOM, he doesn't try to make his lectures interesting in the least.
Bro. Williams knows a TON about the scriptures. However, that does not mean he is a good teacher. He's not. He's a nice man, he's a smart man, and he loves the gospel, but I fell asleep nearly every day in his class.
Brother Williams is an awesome teacher. he has such a good understanding of the scriptures, it is amazing to just listen to him speak. Class is so easy if you go and study exactly what he tells you to. The review sessions give you pretty much all the questions that will be on the test. easy and i learned SO much from him. take his class!!
I thought the lectures were pretty lame. The tests were mostly random trivia. My biggest beaf though was that I got a 89.6% in the class and he wouldn't bump it up to an A because he said that his grader curve was too high. It was an honors class so it's supposed to be high. It will be really sad if that grade messes up my grad school app.
I loved this professor, if you just do the little work that is assigned, you will get a good grade. He will do what he can to help you get a good grade.
He's nice and his tests are very easy if you go to class and listen to his lectures. He is a complete attendance nazi.
Just a nice, old man. Classes are easy, but don't expect to learn a whole lot of new things.
Those who find Bro. Williams' class boring and feel they don't learn a lot cannot possibly be paying attention and certainly aren't receptive to the Spirit. I'm gaining so much through Bro. Williams' class and am more excited about the scriptures than I have ever been before, even after 4 years of good attendance in early-morning seminary.
This is such a lame class! He spends too much time trying to be funny, then he spends more time telling the class that he's joking. He does know his stuff but his joking is major over kill and it totaly distracts from the Spirit and the material. I felt this class was an isult to my intelligence. Don't waste your time...he certainly wastes yours!
just go to class
if you don't have any problems with going to class thaen you'll be fine...but as stated above he's an attendance nazi
I dont know what all these people are talking about I LOVED BROTHER WILLIAMS! I think he has the entire Book of Mormon memorized. His sense of humor is very dry, which I think is hilarious, but mostly I was always excited to go to class knowing I would be fed by the spirit and gain new insights.
Fairly easy. The search questions are busy work but other than that it's truly a 2 credit class. Read and go to class and you'll ace the tests and get an A. The final IS comprehensive.
The class is pretty easy. There are questions with every reading assignment that he collects randomly throughout the semester. Three tests that are fairly easy. Also, we had to do some outside reading and write a page on it, as well as another short paper.
I took his honors Book of Mormon class--didn't feel like honors at all. Just go to class, his lectures cover everything on the test. He has these short question assignments due every class, but they aren't always collected. Tests are easy if you study the notes. He's funny and makes the class interesting. Great teacher!
I hated this class. I did not understand anything that was taught. I should have failed this class but Brother Williams helped me out a lot near the end of semester. Great man just hard to comprehend sometimes.
The best religion teacher I have had at BYU. He is a really funny teacher that tests on doctrine, not useless facts. His lectures are amazing and his search questions really helped me focus while reading the book of Mormon. SO EASY!
good guy, but more of a doomsday kinda person than my last BOM teacher.
Great Professor! Extremely interested in the success of the students and will go out of his way to help you if you need it. You have search questions to complete for every class and 2 papers, other than that its cake! Some of the past reviews say he is confusing, I didnt see this in the NT class, but he was always willing to help you if youre lost.
Good teacher. If you're a slacker you won't like him because he does require you to have some knowledge of each subject he teaches about (how about that, a professor wanting you to know something in a religion class!). Highly recommended. Just make sure you work during the whole semester since cramming doesn't work in this class.
He is so nice and an amazing teacher with an exceptional knowledge of the book of mormon. He just has a kind heart and wants to help the students out in any way possible. The class easy. Take home questions here and there and 2 very easy papers. Other then that, just come to class, take notes and its history from there.
I really enjoyed this class. I learned a lot. Bro. Williams likes to throw in some humor to his lectures, too. The class is pretty easy- study notes for tests and you'll be fine.
Bro Clyde is a nice man, but his requirements turned my B.O.M. study into a monotonous word search. You would probably find the test questions on jeopardy. He cares about the students, but if you have a contrasting scriptural interpretation or opinion (though most of his students don't even seem to have any personal opinions or ideas), stay away!
I thought he was an awesome teacher!!! I learned so much...Just study the notes and all the lists that he puts on the powerpoints and you'll do just fine. I thought his lectures were fun and he made them interesting cause there was so much new stuff...take him he's awesome.
He is an awsome teacher! I loved him and would highly recommened him! The tests are easy...they are on exactly what he said in class, just take good notes. As far as the search questions and the two papers go, they are also a joke. Interesting and an easy A, its the perfect class.
Great teacher, helpful, clear.
good teacher but can be very boring. doesn't like accepting students opinions when they differ from his. he was easy and nice, but very dull and repititive.
This class was straight forward. He gave us everything that would be on the test, and provided insight on many passages. At times his lectures were tedious and his search questions for EACH chapter were tedious. But overall Easy class and - great guy
THis is the second class i have taken from Brother Williams and i would take a third. You learn a lot and get an A. Just what a religion class should be.
I agree with the comment just below. Good, easy class, just a step above seminary. It may not be a life-changing class, but you can still manage to pull off an A.
I didn't learn anything new. He always says "you see" and winks. You spend 4 weeks applying a different scripture to your life. You read 150 pages of supplementary reading. Easy class; uninsightful, not recommended. He never answered people's questions, he would spend 10 mintues explaining why he didn't want to give a definitive answer.
I thought this class was pretty easy, it was my first religion class at BYU. I didn't get an A but i think i could have if i tried a bit harder. He is a good teacher and really loves the Book of Mormon. I would probably take him again if i had the chance.
Wasts a lot of time on tangents, has to repeat himself a few times just to beat you into the ground. Has an attitude of "you knew nothing before you came to me, and you'll only ever know what I teach you, and anything you may know I already know so don't bother telling me"
Brother Williams was wonderful. I learned so much. He does require a lot of work, but you learn so much. If you are taking other hard classes and don't want to have to study that much for religion, I wouldn't take this class, but if you really want to learn the gospel I would take Brother Williams! I made an A, but I studied pretty well.
At first I thought Brother Williams was a little dull, but I grew to like him over the rest of the semester and enjoyed the class. He knows a lot, and tells you everything you need to know on the test in class. He doesn't teach you anything particularly new/profound, but does a good job emphasizing the basics Make sure you go to the reveiw sessions!
He is the man X stake president and he knows the book of mormon in and out
He's a very knowledgable man. Very passionate about the scriptures and is eager to teach his students well.
Wonderful professor! He brought the Spirit to every class period. But he was also very fun and humorous. Sweet and sincere man. I highly recommend him.
If you are absent at all - you will be marked down. If you are even TARDY more than one time, you will have points taken off your final grade! This is a sad fact that I can relate to you first hand. I was tardy only twice and I had 10 points taken off my final grade.
This class is really easy, but you learn so much. Everyday the lesson is very spiritual, but outside of class there is very little you have to do beyond regular daily scripture reading.
Brother Williams is a great teacher. He truely loves what he teaches. The class is easy, but I still learned a lot about the Book of Mormon from him.
Totally easy, if you're looking for an easy A. There isn't a single test question that he doesn't go over in class and mention in his reviews. I did not, however, think that I learned anything worthwhile. It's all just sort of Sunday School stuff.
Awesome teacher I would definitely take a class from him again.
went in thinking it would be super easy cuz of all these ratings - wasn't. always got screwed over on the exam "short answer" questions - they have to be HIS answers, not yours, even if it's still right. search questions (busy work) due 8 times randomly throughout semester. two easy papers (also busy work). not a bad guy, but taught false doctrine.
I loved Prof. Williams he taught the BoM in a new way. He wanted people to apply the BoM and wasn't worried about the facts. Take good notes and look over powerpoints and you will do fine. I studied for a little over an hour for each examine and got an A in the class. More than anything this class made my personal scripture study better. :)
Brother Williams is Amazing. His class is so interesting. His tests are easy if you go to class. You only have to do two short papers. And you learn so much about the Book of Mormon. The spirt is so strong in his class. Plus he is funny. Basically, take a class from him if you get the chance!
Bro. Williams is the man! whoever says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about because his class is amazing. It's easy and I literally learn new things each time I go. I liked him so much that I'm in his B.O.M. second half this semester.
I loved this class. Just go and you will be fine
Bro Williams is a sweet man, but his class was dreadfully boring and his humor pathetic. Except for the application paper, all the work was pointless. The exams were easy-if you enjoy memorizing lists. Expect sarcastic remarks about Joseph Smith shoved down your throat and your own insights repressed. I didn't learn a thing all semester :(
Tests come from power points. He's kind of boring but pretty nice. You'll learn some new stuff but he's not a standout teacher. Backs-up everything he says with quotes from apostles. Easy A. Just write down powerpoints and listen for the rest of the time. Randomly collects the previous nights reading assignments so basically, do 'em all
He's a nice guy and the class was really easy, but the lectures were incredibly boring. Study the powerpoints and you'll be fine on the tests. It was an easy A, but there is some busy work.
Search questions=tedious, Lectures=boring, Tests=regurgitating HIS answers, Class=intellectually/spiritually un-stimulating. Got A?s on tests but missed more classes than allowed and I got a D in class. Doesn?t grade attendance but takes away points from your grade if you miss class. I thought that was BULL. Class was my worst experience at BYU.
I loved the class, his humor is a little dry but overall the class was great! Study the powerpoints, all the test answers come from them. Don't miss class, if you do your grade might not be the one you want. Willing to help as long as you are willing ask for it. GREAT teacher!! :)
Professor Williams is great. The search questions are tedious yes, but they are easy. You'll spend less than 30 minutes per night on them. He is extremely lenient with due dates, and he provides all the materials needed to pass his tests, which aren't difficult. If you just do the work, and show up for class, little studying is needed to pass.
One of my favorite classes. We read a little about the hymns as homework. Only gathered study questions half of the time. Papers were nice. He has a lot of knowledge about the hymns and was able to really bring them to life for me. I would take any other class he taught because he was taht amazing, and I have recommended this class to all I know.
Bro. Williams is an amazing teacher! He backs up anything with quotes from apostles and the scriptures. The tests are not very hard. All you have to do is review the powerpoint slides, and you'll be fine. He's not really really funny, but he's a really nice teacher. You'll learn a lot from him. I recommend him!!
Prof. Williams doesn't seem to have much interest in what students think; lectures are boring. Extremely negative, making it hard to have a positive spiritual experience. But there's not much homework & it's an easy A if you don't mind being bored and missing out on what could be a great spiritual experience. Overall, I don't recommend this class.
He reminds me of the ghost teacher in Harry Potter, Professor Binns, who keeps going to class and giving the exact same lectures for years, not realizing he left his body behind one day. Questions and comments interrupt and iritate Bro. Williams and he treats students like they're in Jr. High still, all in all making it a very disappointing class.
Brother Williams cares about his students. If you go and talk to him, he is very helpful. Though, his lectures are dry sometimes.
He was a great teacher. Loved going to class. Made the class fun and exciting. Very recommended
Bro. Williams is a nice guy but the course is booooring. He usually makes mention on those who sin by watching the clock... that was me. The class is fairly easy though, nightly reading questions. No quizes, one 200pg reading assignment and a application assignment. Tests are ok. You need to study, he wants specific stuff from the lectures.
I has Bro. Williams for the Hymns of the Restoration class. The material presented was fairly interesting and Bro. Williams had some good things to say. The class itself though was usually pretty boring and I didn't feel like I was getting anything out of it. I often found myself dozing off or sketching people's faces.
I've had this professor for 2 semesters now, and I love him. If you pay attention to what he's saying, you will have a great spiritual experience. His class is exactly what a religion class should be like. I learned so much.
Prof. Williams is an extremely good lecturer and knows his stuff (but is ALSO good at explaining it). I will be surprised if he doesn't become an apostle someday. Plus, the test reviews are available online in mp3 format so if you memorize them you'll get 100% on the tests! For me, it was an easy A.
Brother Williams is a great professor for the typical conservative BYU student (especially one that isn't bothered by the typical "anti-tolerance"/"all forms of tolerance equates to acceptance" speech). However, for more open-minded people, I would HIGHLY recommend you stay away. I personally didn't see much difference between this class and semina
This class is not what you think it is. I thought it was a waste of my hard earned tuition money. But if you are looking for a easy religion class this is it.
Clyde Williams is an awesome religion teacher. He is funny and keeps class interesting. There are daily questions to answer on reading. It's busywork, but not a big deal. There is a personal application paper and a supplmental reading paper, but neither were a big deal. Tests were super easy and he had great (short) review sessions.
Bro. Williams can be very self-righteous and continually added his own political agenda into his lectures and then tried to back it up by the BOM. I didn't feel the spirit once in class. His tests are all memorizing lists from his lectures. He gives off a vibe that he could care less about you & is often quite condemning. I wouldn't take from him.
Very easy class, not a very good teacher but if all you want is some busywork and no stress then this is the class for you. Attendance is required though. Don't expect to learn much as most of it is basic apologetics we learned when we were 12.
Bro. Williams is a really good teacher. Homework is minimal, there's one book of mormon application project. The main focus of his class is relating the Book of Mormon to Christ and he is very knowledgeable
Truly an awful class. Boring, self righteous, repetitive, and incomprehensible! He has random collection of homework and his tests are just specific points from the BORING powerpoints. I sat near the back, and people would be sleeping on the floor in between the rows...that is how bad this class is. Don't take if you like the scriptures!
Overall a fairly good class. Attendance is mandatory and there are scripture questions required every class period. Other than that, only a couple of easy papers. The tests weren't too bad, either, as long as you made sure to look over the powerpoints and listen to the review session.
Easy but a bit boring - might have been cause it was a huge class. Nice guy. Makes u answer questions about reading which amounts to basically busywork. Easy tests. Tests on what he teaches, gives reviews and key scriptures to study - so very straightforward. Try to get a small class if you can.
Good class. I thought he kept the class interesting and the homework was not too hard.
Williams' class is loaded very heavily with busy work. His tests are easy if you've memorized every little point he discussed in class, but otherwise difficult. Be prepared to learn (and be tested on) his opinion about most things, but he will refuse to CALL it his opinion. If you want DOCTRINE (not opinions) find another professor.
Williams is rather boring, that is, if you want an EFY type of teacher. For those who say they never felt the Spirit in his class must have done little to prepare themselves to have a spiritual experience. If you come to class wanting to learn and have with a good attitude, you should do well. If you want to be entertained, take someone else.
Great teacher, very enlightening. I really enjoyed his style and ability/willingness to help me learn. A course for true progression. I HIGHLY recommend this course, and professor.
