Nice Prof. Knows her stuff. Too many papers. Kinda boring class,
boring class but she is nice and a good prof.
Really sweet teacher....little boring class....i hate papers....good course
She is very helpful, and very enthusiastic, but a little annoying
Hard subject, she loves teaching, very enthaustic, good prof
speak up in class, hard grader if you dont have the same opinion as her
Great overall Prof. Knows her stuff. Lines...haha
disliked this class. had to know too many tiny details that no one cares about
4 easy papers, tough final, group project and a lot of readings! Excellent Prof
GREAT, she helps a lot, and SPEAK in class, she loves talkers.
amazing prof. funny and knowledgable about most everything. take her!!!!!!!
sweet, funny, entertaining. class a bit hard though
nice teacher, easy assignments and final
Boring, but extremely interesting!
She was a great prof, all you have to do is take the time to understand material

nice, helps if you don't understand, hard readings
Interesting lectures, great professor! Readings suck
nice prof who makes the confusing subject of philosophy easy to understand. Easy homework, and no papers. Speak up in class...she likes people who talk.
She was great! If you didn't understand something she was willing to help you out...Open book exam
Unclear, very analytic, judgmental, indecisive, inexperienced, poor classroom control. Still caught up with the academia standards of Grad school, and needs to learn how to teach from the text instead of having open debates.
Awesome prof. Definently recomend her.. she really helps you understand everything.

Intelligent and challenging to students. Makes you think outside the box. Has clear examples and explanations and makes students see the relevance of philosophy, especially in this culture where thinking on your own is not encouraged.
makes things easier to understand. readings are kind of difficult but she explains them well. overall good professor
Horrible Prof. Depends on students to interpret the info in order to compensate for her inability to do so.
Class seemed easy at first, then the first exam came and it was too much to finish in too little of time. Readings are the most terrible things ever and most are the hardest things to understand. Grades very unfairly at times also.
Great professor. Encourages discussion(which is what philosophy is all about despite what some people think). Do the readings and if you need help ask.
Great teacher! Always very helpful. Shows good films & encourages thought.
Smart prof who can be funny and knows when the stuff gets too hard. She'll sit and explain things to you to make the readings less misearble. HARD Final, but overall a good class.
She encourages discussion, but she doesn't seem like the brightest bulb on the ol' tree. Not hard to look at, though.
Lovely, adorable redhead. Best gen ed class. Some movies suck.
Nice person, will help if needed... Makes you think, tests need to be studied for... good looking prof...
Best professor ever! Very helpful! Very nice! Promotes thoughtful discussion, and answers all questions. She really makes you work hard, but it is worth it because you learn a ton! Excellent professor!
Great prof, smart, wity, honest. She knows her stuff. Take as many classes with her as possible. She cares more about students than students do.
material can be tough, she is very willing to help, read the material, ask questions, she is very enthusiastic about philosophy.
This woman is amazing. She is now a friend versus a professor. She is willing to do anything to help a student. I recommend taking her if you want to learn.
PROF Coeli Fitzpatrick is more than a techer. She goes above and beyond to help a student. She is always there, encoourages discussion and will do anything to get you interested! Take Her! :)
Very informative and helpful! Awesome to talk to, in and out of the classroom.
nthusiastic about what she teaches, but I didn't quite enjoy the class as much as I thought I would. No exams besides the final, just short quizzes that can really hurt your grade if you dont understand the material. Go to class every day, read the material more then once and you should be alright.
Awesome prof! Great to talk to after class and always willing to help. She's like a friend to all of her students and cares about us learning the material. Very funny and interesting to talk to.
Prof. Fitzpatrick is very good at helping the class understand difficult philosophical material and she is always very enthusiastic about it.
Ms. Fitzpatrick is a very good teacher. Willing to help you, cause you will need it in the beginning cause it'll be hard to follow the readings but she breaks them down for you in class. The class is very interesting and she makes the class enjoyable :)
This woman is amazing, making philosohy understandable. I may not have gotten a good grade in this class - there were three teachers total, but I will understand it better with her than with any other phil. prof. and I have a better appreciation for it as well!!!
TAKE HER! At first I was skeptical...but after 1 week w/her I was sold. Dont let all the books scare u...theyre easy to get thru & she explains everything. She is always there to help & answer questions. Make sure u participate in discissions bc she favors those who do. She makes u think outside the box & as long as u show interest she'll love u
I took the SWS version of this class. It wasn't too bad, but some of the philosophies can be difficult to understand, but she does her best to explain everything. The papers are grades quite strictly, but she will help you to revise them before you turn them in. There are no suprises in the class.
Very nice, extremely helpful. Some material is tough, but she does everything she can to help students understand. Talk a little in class, even if it's a question or random opinion- she appreciates it. I whole-heartedly reccommend taking her!
awful professor. i had her years ago at a different university. She talks a lot, but really doesn't know much about the reality of this life.
She tries to explain philosophy, but doesn't always succeed. I had a hard time understanding her interpretations of things at times. She loves philosophy, but she needs to come up with more than one way to say things. I think she needs to understand that not everybody learns the same way she does.
Tough grader, but is always willing to help. She's also really good about realizing where her students are at and tests accordingly. I'd take her again if I could!
Made a boring subject easier to understand.
Very knowledgable on Middle Eastern Philosophy. Very good looking, worth coming to class for, if not to learn.
Coeli is really nice and very cool, but her class was pretty hard for me... I didn't get much feedback or help for my final paper. SHE DOESN'T ANSWER E-MAILS so be wary of that.
Doesn't explain things well. She asks very vague questions on her essays/tests but expects very specific answers. She doesn't answer emails or really help in her office hours. I feel like no matter how hard I try in this class, I cannot get a good grade.
Assigns a lot of homework and doesn't exactly explain the assignments. Overall, she is nice and understands how students work.
Very good prof, takes time to explain if needed. Only has papers, midterm, and final exam, so it's hard to judge how you're doing in the class.
Some information was missing or hard to understand, but overall material was presented in a clear manner. Not very timely when answering emails, but helpful during office hours.
I really liked her. She has been to Jordan, and has a great knowledge about the middle east. Her class was pretty easy, and I feel like I learned a lot. Take her if you can!
She is awesome, young, and has very interesting things to say. My favorite prof. thus far, she ROCKS!
Best teacher I've ever had. She really makes you think, and she explains until you understand. Take if you have the religion theme, or if you're into Philosophy. You DO use the text- buy them.
Great professor! Not only is it a easy SWS class but all thats required of you is to read 20 pages and take notes in class. She has a quiz/worksheet due about every two weeks and they are very easy! If you were in class then you'll understand everything on the handouts. She is very kind and loves it when students give feedback about the readings.
Easier professor. Theres no exams just quizzes and 2-600 word papers which are pretty easy. There was a lot of reading in the classes but the class is easy
There are professor's that leave a lasting impression on you and Coeli Fitzpatrick is one that I will treasure as part of my college experience. I wrote a paper on Marx and Sartre. She engaged me, she directed me off of tangents and she made it simple to grasp. She is a bright, intelligent woman who empowers thinking. She is the best, take her!
Seriously one of the most intelligent profs at GVSU. She just knows EVERYTHING! She's always open to answering random questions and really wants you to enjoy what we're learning. You read a lot for homework but there were only 4-5 quizzes and one paper. She's an amazing prof!
She is so knowledgeable! She kept her lectures fairly interesting and her tests aren't too hard if you study. She is a fair grader.
The class was taken during the summer so work was more in-your-face. There was some interesting material that I enjoyed. Coeli is a good teacher, and you can get a good grade by just doing your work. It is not hard.
Great professor, very approachable, lovely to talk to. She's wonderful, I would highly recommend her. Very helpful in office hours and answers questions thoroughly. She knows her stuff!
She is passionate about what she teaches and is a wonderful teacher. She will always answer questions and is genuinely concerned with the information.
Professor Fitz is always interesting with funny, sometimes off-topic stories. She's always willing to try and explain ideas better and is dedicated to ensuring her students get the grade they deserve, meaning paper re-writes, optional rough draft submissions and flexible office hours.
Professor Fitzpatrick is so nice - she's very approachable and down to help you with any assignment. She's so cute and dresses so nice it's crazy! She's great at helping you understand and overall just a great prof.
Fitz is one of my favorite professors. She's an AWESOME teacher, very approachable, really funny, super hot, and incredibly intelligent. She knows everything. She should be be the next president. I highly recommend her!
Explains everything well and is incredibly passionate about what she teaches. She will help out any student who needs it and is always eager to go over topics twice. Only complaint is the amount of reading that is required. Overall she is a great choice for a professor.
Super clear and easy to understand prof. Enthusiastic about the topic and well educated/experienced. Mostly readings for homework and many quizzes, but they are easy and will go over questions right before them. Knew nothing about the Middle East prior to class and really enjoyed learning about it from her!
Great prof
This professor is amazing! She chooses great books and makes the discussion interesting. There are two papers and one class project. Attendance isn't "mandatory" but she approach you if you miss more then 2 classes in a row. She is a great professor and I totally recommend her.
Great professor! I highly recommend taking any class she teaches. A very helpful professor and she will get you engaged in the class. The class was centered around "Identity" and to explore this we read four novels throughout the semester. It is a lot of reading but I believe it was well worth it. :)
She's really nice and enthusiastic but the amount of reading is insane and you actually do have to read the two novels otherwise you'll fail the quizzes.. 2 exams and a bunch of quizzes and they're all short answer with 0 multiple choice but if you read it's not bad
Prof. Fitzpatrick is a very good lecturer and teacher. She focuses heavily on classroom discussion of the readings and topics. MES 201 surveyed the Middle East and the complexity of the region. Overall, I feel that I now have a much better grasp on the politics and culture than I ever did before. Clear, helpful, and enjoyable class.
Hardest class I've ever taken. Shes nice, and kinda hot.... but the quizes (which are 45% of the grade) are absolutely impossible
She is a great professor! Very good with explaining everything and will go out of her way to help you out!
Professor Fitzpatrick is a very intelligent woman. She knows what she is talking about. Be sure to read all material before going to class because she will learn your name and she will randomly call on you to answer something. Very personable and passionate about the subject. Would recommend
Any honors class is going to challenge and engage you. I was not trilled when I was informed this was going to be my honors sequence but I am SO happy this is where I ended up. Prof Fitz may be a little disorganized while lecturing but this class was so fun and interesting. Oh, btw. READ READ READ
I enjoyed the topic of this class, but the class period was not long enough to discuss everything that we covered. If you ask a questions she goes way off topic so be careful. Also, participate right off the bat. If you start participating 2 months into the class she won't raise your participation grade. Also she doesn't respond to emails well.
I loved how passionate she lectured, it made it very easy to pay attention. Make sure you do the reading or you will fall behind in the class. If you don't do the reading at least skim so you can make a comment in class she does a lot based on participation.
Fitzpatrick is INCREDIBLY intelligent. But this class is VERY CHALLENGING. In high school, I took 5 AP classes senior year and graduated with a 4.3 GPA (out of 4.0). I thought I could handle this class. I was WRONG! There is so much homework, that many students pulled all nighters and still not finish the reading. Participation grades are tough.
Very intelligent professor, the class is a ton of reading and some of the concepts are a little hard to grasp especially in second semester, but definitely would take again just because of professor Fitzpatrick.
Professor Fitzpatrick is a pretty good teacher overall, some of the readings were difficult to understand/boring. But the whole class you discuss what you read and she expects you to participate, not much teaching involved. It was hard to keep up with the readings because she assigned so many. Just keep up with the readings and participate!
Coeli is a great professor, she's sweet, caring, and knows her stuff. There are required readings for every class, but every class is discussion based so if you don't understand, don't worry! Tests are just testing to see if you payed attention, pretty easy.
Great professor. Very clear as to what is going to be on exams, and is aware of shortcomings. Participation grades can be a little bit bias it seems, however if you talk once a day you'll get an A. Lots of reading, some of it good some of it bad.
Participation is huge in the class since it is a lot of in-class discussion. There's also a lot of reading, but it's usually pretty interesting as long as you like the subject. The lectures aren't boring because she gets excited about what she teaches and has a sense of humor
Professor Fitzpatrick is a very engaging professor. She loves what she does and you can tell. There are multiple extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. She is extremely nice. All quizzes are short response but if you read and pay attention are easy.
Go into this class expecting a ton of reading, but not the textbook kind. The majority of assigned readings are novels, and the harder ones explained thoroughly by the Professor in class. She's a great teacher and really knows ALOT, so don't be afraid to ask questions. You will learn a crap ton of stuff about the middle east, and the class is fun.
Fitzpatrick gives really good lectures, but be prepared to take lots of notes if you want to do well on the quizzes/final. Lots of this class is based off of things discussed during the lectures. She is not a tough grader for the most part. The class is very enjoyable and I loved her section.
This class required a lot of outside reading. Prof is very intelligent and you can tell she is very passionate about what she teaches. There are quizzes but they are open note so take good notes. Participation is a large part of your grade. If you show up every day, take notes, and pay attention, it's still not good enough so be engaged.
Amazing professor. Very knowledgeable. Classes were a mix of lecture, and discussions. Not too many writing assignments and any writing assignment were pretty doable. Gives really good feedback if you go to office hours. Participation is important and is a decent amount of your overall grade.
Amazing professor. She is always more than willing to help if you ask for it. She will help you find sources for group projects (easy) and she loves when students are engaged. If you listen in class you will have no problem. There is outside reading but nothing hard. She is very understanding and flexible. Most of class is just talking and videos.
I loved this class. She is a great prof. There are assigned readings but each reading is very interesting and they are not long. The topics covered in this class are interesting and enjoyable. Take her class!!
The smartest women Ive ever met. This class is a lot of reading and discussion but if u do the 5 assignments we had its an easy A.
Assignments are easy and the topics are interesting. If you care about the world and the environment (even if you don't care) this is a great class! I actually learned a lot in this class and my interest in global issues increased a lot. She is very likable and knows her stuff. If you can take her, do it! Easy quizzes and easy pass!
She is an amazing professor who really cares about her students.
This class was actually interesting & your homework consist of watching documentaries that are fun to watch. She is funny & in the class you can really be yourself. Probably one of my favorite professors so far.
Great professor. Her classes really make you think. You'll leave class every day feeling like you understand the world better. Lecture heavy, but they're some of the most interesting lectures you'll ever hear.
This class is very manageable as you have a few readings each week and need to attend 5 related events and write reflections on what you learned from attending those events. There are no quizzes or exams, but we are having a potluck on the final day of class! This class lets you reflect on many issues and it opens your perspective in many new ways!
Had her for HNR 151 and 153 and loved her. She is extremely caring and is willing to help you on papers. She relates to the material to the real world and how you can use it. Definitely a challenge, but great prof!
She's really nice and genuinely wants you to understand and succeed. This class is pretty easy overall, it's just reading articles and then discussing in class. As long as you show up, go the events, and raise your hand occasionally, you'll do fine. Really important and interesting topics too
Professor Fitzpatrick is an amazing and passionate professor. She truly cares about what she teaches. This class is SUPER reading-heavy. It is largely based on class discussions. You should expect to dedicate at least 3 hours to read the course material each week. There is a group project and multiple essays. Altogether a fun and rewarding class.
Honors Courses are very difficult, but I absolutely loved my time learning from Coeli, she is inspiring and makes me so interested in our learning. She is a reasonable grader but there was a good amount of reading and papers to do.
Honors class is very difficult, but she is super fun to learn from and sometimes feeds us snacks.
Signed up just to say she is an amazing professor. Lots of reading, participation is graded. But she is amazing and understanding.
she treats everyone good and cant even bother to answer an email from me.
I honestly really loved this professor! It was interesting lectures after you had to read and annotate articles. The annotation notes are not difficult at all, and you can just discuss them with the class. You can personally connect with her and have a conversation. She is overall a very amazing professor, and I would take her again!
She was an amazing professor; she always tried to make everyone in the class participate in the discussions during class, and always knew you by name. She is a very reading-heavy professor, and you will have hours of reading every week. The stuff she assigned was really interesting though. She is super funny and I would highly recommend her.
