I have the biggest crush on Dr. Colin Mang. He's just so passionate about economics, it rubs off on you. He actually puts effort into his lecture slides down to the animations, and his lectures are always engaging as he includes real world examples and relatable bits from TV shows. He's so charismatic and hot
He was good. The only reason I didn't do well was that I was unorganized. The course material is straightforward and accessible. He gives many resources, practice questions, and online videos to help support your learning. His lectures are also very well done with great slides and the occasional funny video. Lots of love to this prof he's great!
Amazing prof. who engages with students and makes Econ fun. This was my favourite class this semester.
My favorite professor this semester, engaging lectures and his resources are wonderful!
posts a lot of material for the class and is super organized. but he could explain things a lot better and not overcomplicate simple stuff. also, makes elitist comments during lectures but overall a good prof that plays futurama and family guy clips during lectures.
Love this guy
my mans got jokes
out of all my classes, i learned the most from his. unfortunately, im not in business. would definitely take his class again tho. also he made a tiktok about Taylor Swift..... how can you not like your Swiftie Prof?
Colin is an awesome prof. I have nothing bad to say about him. His assessments are fair and he gives adequate resources to review for them. Lectures are very captivating and he does a great job incorporating real world examples to apply the concepts he teaches
Make sure to watch the videos, he's a goat though
A really nice professor. The class overall isn't too boring, just make sure to watch the lecture videos.
Such a nice guy, easy 10-12 ish if studied well before the tests
Dr. Mang is a professional in his field, he is always interesting to listen to and his lectures are full of useful educational content. Lots of participation is required though, there's many graded activities and in-class / homework online questions in the course.
Honestly, Dr. Mang is an amazing prof. He provides plenty of resources outside of lectures and tests were always fair. You can tell he is really passionate about what he is teaching.
His slides are always clear and organized. This will be a free A+ if you study. The difficulty of the exam is also fair. For the midterm you will be allowed to have mistakes (5 or less are full marks)!
engaging lectures, very fair exams if you study, office hours were very helpful
Explained the content very well and lot of opportunities for extra credit
I loved Econ. Dr. Mang does an excellent job of applying his lecture to current events. I thought econ would not be my cup of tea but he really changed my mind!
Great Econ teacher. The best one at McMaster. If you are taking Micro-Econ make sure that Colin Mang is your prof. Do not take Macro (Colin Mang does not teach this course don't take it)
The goat. That's all folks.
Literally the best thing to have happened to the econ department here.
Awesome teacher. Understandable lectures and fair tests.
The lecture was excellent, and the module provided was extremely useful. It made everything understandable, even for those without an economics background. Weekly homework and participation marks were also easy to earn. Highly recommended.
good prof does not overcomplicate things. If you read the textbook and take notes you will 12 the class
The best prof for microeconomics, he uploads modules for each unit with approx 1hr of content. He gives only 20 questions per assignment and they had unlimited attempts. The course gives you bonus % for giving the correct answer when you answer iclickers in lectures. And the best part, the exams are all direct questions
Watch his videos and you'll slay!! He was so kind.
A great prof! Would recommend taking his class!
really a nice professor strongly recommend to take this class
World's greatest prof teaching the world's most boring course. Will never take an econ elective again, but shoutout my boy Colin fr
he is a pretty cool guy
Dr. Colin Mang is one of my favourite profs, he was extremely friendly and helpful and approachable and amazing, his Econ class was very easy to 12, he made me love Economy and I wish he teaches more Econ classes and I will take all the courses he teaches.
terible course design, meant to be as infuriating as possible/
excellent prof, very knowledgable, gives many resources to help you with different concepts through online videos and lectures, fair exams (except for memorizing names of economists); overall would take the course again
amazing guy and well spoken, but don't take this class if you don't have to unfortunately not an easy 12 :(
best econ prof luv him
This man put our first midterm on homecoming and put the second midterm on Halloweekend. Keep in mind that Halloween is on Thursday and he put the midterm on the saturday AFTER. He's actually pure evil. I took it thinking it was a bird and it lowkey is but things like this thathe does piss me off.
decent prof but his lecture are pretty heavy if you take it as an elective. Test is not too hard but you really need to grind a lot if you want 9+ GPA. If you are in engineering, not recommend taking this course unless you want to go to management program.
just sooo bad
Dr. Mang is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the field of economics. He cares about student performance, and provides resources for them to be successful. He's also just a silly guy. That being said, while the prof is great, theres a lot of work you have to do to be successful (textbook, video lessons, mylab hw, study plan).
He was great!
Clear lectures. Provides a way to obtain extra percent. He also provides video which are extremely helpful. Going over them in combination over the practice questions one can easily 11-12.
Great prof, from the first day of class I could tell he was passionate about economics and actually taught in a way the students could gauge, and apply to the midterms, homework, and tutorials.
amazing prof
Fun professor, had an acceptable attitude that many of my fellow colleagues and I enjoyed. Understood what he was teaching and would recommend if you enjoy economics.
As a professor, Dr. Mang is exceeds the typical professor; he thoroughly goes over all the concepts necessary to do well in Microeconomics and shows great passion for this course. Definitely the right person to introduce us to economics.
All I can say are the facts: classes:8/10, course structure:10/10, teaching style:9/10 (a little boring tbh), tests are very fair, good at answering questions. lectures mostly go over examples/take up content so read the textbook
Prepare to put in the work, weekly mylab modules and tutorial activities that count towards grades. Three major tests, that are actually pretty difficult. Know your theorists!!! And read the textbook. He puts in information from his lecture vids, in-person lectures, and textbook on all on the exams so anything is fair game.
Good professor
Great econ prof, works are light, tests and exam were not hard, and gives bonus mark which make A/A+ very achievable.
Excellent prof- hard class. The mylab quizzes are time consuming considering you must learn the material before it is taught in class, followed by a quiz testing your knowledge. IClicker is absolutely worth it so do not opt out (you get extra points which helps in getting a better grade)! Overall, hard class but the methods help the content stick.
Expect to put some work in studying for exams since there is a lot of content but overall easy 12 - LOTS of opportunity for bonus marks: both midterms had 3 bonus questions, up to 7% bonus from lecture/tutorial participation, and lowest 2/12 homework grades are dropped.
Awesome professor, really enthusiastic about the content. Class was pretty easy.
good prof class wasnt that hard
Love Colin Mang! Found the course was set up in a way that made sense and he provided clear, engaging lectures even including a few jokes. Will definitely take another class and recommend him to everyone
Very enthusiastic prof and you can tell he enjoys what he does and very helpful when asked questions. There is a lot of work to do weekly, so an assignment, textbook reading, videos that overall were like 45 mins and tutorial activities. It's not difficult to do well but the exam was very very chapter 8-12 (maybe like 80%) heavy which messed me up.
ECON IS NOT A BIRD COURSE it is an extremely difficult course, beware. Mang is an Incredible professor, he's kind and helpful. Excellent teacher who knows what hes talking about. His content is all posted on Avenue as videos as well, attendance not mandatory. I skipped the midterm and opted out of everything, making my final worth 70%. Did well.
absolute dawg
Very good professor. The class is not extremely easy but very doable given you do the work. His teaching style is good and tests and exams are very fair with questions that were covered in his videos and textbook. No curve balls.
Amazing engaging lectures, videos on course material go in depth on everything you need to know! Honestly I did not read a single page of the textbook and you really don't need to if you watch his videos and attend his lectures. Exams were also super fair. Overall zero complaints!
Chill guy. Very good class. I would take it over and over again.
Yeah he cool
I hate Bridget O'Shaughnessy and the way she teaches Marco so much to the point where I came here to give Mang a good rating and to remind people DO NOT TAKE MACRO WITH Bridget O'Shaughnessy.
Mang was an amazing professor, truly a gem amongst many first year professors. His class was easy and not heavy on the content. Having two tries on MyLab questions made it so you could actually learn from your mistakes without sacrificing your grade. Definitely read the textbook and go to his office hours, he's awesome to chat to and is helpful.
He's an amazing professor with huge amounts of knowledge and integrity. He makes microeconomics so easy to understand.
Mang the goat
Incredibly respectable professor.
Chill guy fun lectures. he makes you buy the iclicker thing for participation marks, or it just gets added to ur final exam grade. would take again. only works Tuesday's bcuz he's a beaut.
Love this man, he took first year microecon and he is GOATED, his slides are usually enough to land a decent grade and he actually gives you (or at least he did in my year) chances to bump your grade up by participating on iClicker (we were given a chance of getting up to an additional 5%), yeah you must have him as your prof if you're in mac
He is an angel sent from Heaven. He's the perfect prof in everyway. 10/10. My favorite prof of all time. In my last moments in life, I won't be thinking about my wife or kids, I'll be thinking about professor Colin Mang, because he's THE GOAT. He is amazing at explaining concepts in an extremely easy-to-understand way and is super kind & epic
Mang the goat, lectures were great. He can really teach material well and you can tell he is very passionate about what he teaches. Go to lectures for the free iClicker marks, exams are all multiple choice and fairly easy.
Great prof, knows how to teach, he's passionate about his course. Mentioned labubus in a lecture once. Theres like 8% worth of extra credit throughout the term in tutorials and doing extra iclicker. Also gives 2 tries on mylab so if you mess up the first time you can try again with no penalty which is fire
Colin Mang is a great lecturer, so engaging, and seems like he truly enjoys this subject. However, his lectures are very light on material. To fully grasp all content go through ALL resources, like his videos and the textbook.
A little awkward, but knows his stuff. Very friendly and approachable. Lecture participation counts, and he uses iclicker which is not free. Sucks that grades are behind a paywall
You can tell hes passionate, midterms were difficult for me personally and lectures were broad in comparison for what you had to know for the midterm. I suggest watching the lecture videos. I only went to lectures for iClicker. That, and bonus tutorials can SAVE YOUR GRADE by like 8% extra its amazing. Overall not bad, just not a crazy fan of econ!
You can tell he is a nice person, but I don't understand why others say this course is easy. I struggled a lot with the exams. They are very theory based (about 70%), not application. Reviewing for the exam has no sense of clear direction, SmartBooks don't match exams, and unlike my other professors, there was no review or guidance on exam content.
Colin provides well organized lectures and content to review on your own time.Colin seemed unreachable as an instructor- almost intimidating. My TA was awful and disorganized- on a power trip Unfortunately Colins midterms and finals fail to align with the content he provides, studying from the textbook is the best practice when taking this course.
The second midterm was horrible.
Colin is great Prof always replied to my emails also but the course is not easy the final exam was cumulative, the second midterm was really hard, and the class size is huge. There is only one lecture per week which is only 1 hour long hard to understand and very fast paced. The tutorial and iclicker is grade saviour. Overall he is chill guy.
Prof Colin is a chill guy he gave extra credits through iclicker and tutorial participation which actually saved my final grades. The TA was also very nice she always explained the stuff well during tutorial. Overall nice guy the course is not hard if you put in effort my low grades is my own fault.
I 12ed the course however the course is very self study as there are only 50 minute lectures per week with the main reason of attending being IClicker. The midterms I would say are fair but make sure to understand the meaning behind the graphs. The second midterm is usually the hardest but the final was much easier than both midterms though.
Lectures are great for iClicker and the bonus, and the tutorials are also great for bonus marks. Having said that, I do believe the midterms are unnecessarily difficult. I did however do better on the second midterm than the first midterm which is backwards. Dr. Mang is a great guy overall but at office hours, I find he can be a bit demeaning.
Dr. Mang is a super respectable guy and is very passionate about what he teaches. He makes it super easy to get a good mark by allowing you to earn extra credit through lecture participation and tutorial activities. The midterms were quite difficult in my opinion but the final exam was a very reasonable difficulty.
The course is pretty self taught he post the detail videos about content which are really helpful and easy to understand. Attendence is not mandatory but if you go to class you will get extra credit through iclicker. The lectures are not boring also but he goes very quick becasue it is 50 min class per week. Overall he is a chill guy.
Great prof, is always dripped out, and is highly enthusiastic. Take advantage of all the tutorials and iclicker points as it will boost your final grade by 8%. Content starts heavy leading up to the second midterm but just practice a lot and you'll be fine. However, the course is highly self-taught as there is only one 50 minute lecture a week.
colin mang is a chill ass guy, his lectures are good and engaging, workload isn't heavy as it's only 1 online assignment per week. the class is a lot of self teaching as there is only one 50 min lecture a week, but his lesson videos are insanely helpful. plenty of opportunity for bonus marks (tutorial and iclicker) so make sure you go to class
Colin Mang is a great professor. There is only one short lecture a week, which is useful for reinforcing concepts; however, a lot of learning and understanding is done on your own before the lecture. Exams are fair, and there are many opportunities for extra credit. Overall, this was a very well-designed course.
Listening to Mang's lectures were good as they were clear and concise for the topic, he also doesn't assign a lot of work and attendance is only mandatory for 5 tutorials. The lecture participation was optional and he treated the course as a course for first years compared to other profs, would highly recommend taking his course.
If I can marry one man it would be Dr Mang. He is the best professor of all time. His lectures are great and he is also an aura farmer (always dripped out in lectures and that pic with Trudeau was tuff). He is very respectable and knows how to teach
dripped out, microeconomics goat, i love it when i see him on tv. his picture with carney is so tuff.
An amazing prof at mac, with good lectures and videos. Pretty easy to 12 just make sure to do get all bonus marks (iclicker & tutorials) and understand the myLab homework. The second midterm is pretty difficult however it balances it out with the easy first midterm and final. Overall a caring, and wonderful prof.
Amazing guy his detail lecture videos are actually saviour. The lectures participation is optional but I will recommend to go becasue you can get upto 10 percent of bonus marks through participation my lower grades are my fault but if you study you can 12 this class. The final exam and first mid term was easy second one was quite challenging.
I like the fact that there is extra credits and he has good notes.
Colin Mang is a really good professor and his lectures are very engaging. There are lots of opportunities for bonus marks in his class, so it's worth attending the lectures. The first midterm and the final exam weren't too bad, but the second midterm was challenging.
Easy to learn and makes class feel like a better place
Overall a great course! Lecture material was available online for review as well as practice materials before tests. Homework was graded online and tutorial attendance was mandatory. Very nice professor and interesting content.
