He is the kindest pure soul prof at geography department. His materials are prepared and on the web. His class is very interesting and engaging. As a mature students I looked forward to go to his class and he was very helpful when i had any questions. He is wonderfull prof.

I thought that Colin was a very good teacher. I think this was one of my favourite teachers that I have had so far.. He is very helpful, easy to talk to, and not too hard. If you make sure to make good notes then you will do awsome on any tests, midterms or exams that he gives.

Collin is by far one of the most amazing proff's ive ever had thus far. classes werent boring at all, he keeps notes on his website, making it very easy to refer back to. makes you think about the topics covered in class. understanding not intimidating at all. makes you intrested enough to do well.

Colin is such a calm, patient, organized and clear instructor that I would definitely recommend that any first year student take his course...good transitional style from what you might be used to at high school...his assignments are such that if you are prepared, you can take it to the next level and your efforts will definitely be recognized.

Organized, kind, thoughtful and thankfully includes relevant current events in his lectures. He's very knowledgeable about BC and its history and apprectes it when you make an effort.

Colin Mills is a very good professor. His teaching methods make the material come across in a clear and interesting way. His assignments are very flexible and allow the students to choose topics they are interested in. Exams are mostly from his notes and involve a variety of testing methods. I highly recommend colin to anyone.

despite what some say i have had colin for two courses and have yet to open a text book. got A- in both and didnt seem to have trouble with is tests.. his online notes are great and he's a really easy going guy. lectures in general are boring but his sense of humour keeps them interesting.. hes a great teacher a MUST take for any first year student

Come to class, listen carefully, and follow his directions. I was able to pull off a B+ with minimal effort... if I applied myself more, I could have easily received better if i studied. Got an A on my presentation only starting it the night before!

I feel Colin is one of the most engaging, competent, and knowledgable profs at Langara. I enrolled in his 9:30am class, meaning an insanely early wake up time, just so I could learn it from him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND regardless of your interest in Geography.

Colin is extremely interactive with his students. His class discussions are very interesting and he does an excellent job of incorporating local & contemporary issues into the lecture. He is pretty good at judging an individuals character and knows ifb someone has been studying/paying attention. Lecture notes are KEY in studying for his tests!!!

He's probably the most intelligent, knowledgeable man I have ever met! He's an awesome teacher, super nice, respecting, and just so interesting - never have I been bored in one of his lectures. I've taken 2 of his classes now and I've learned so much from him. And he's not very difficult at all. He's definitely the best teacher I've ever had.

One of the best lecturers/professors at Langara. He is clear and precise. Most importantly, he knows his stuff and enjoys teaching it.The way he has his term paper laid out makes it easier and less stressful to complete. His midterms are long, but definitely fair. Attendance is mandatory since he stopped handing out/presenting notes.

Colin gives really good lectures and is very passionate about Geography which transferred to me as his student. His assignments are clearly laid out. His exams are clear and generally have a mixture of short answer and sometimes multiple choice...with an essay. I also recommend GEOG 1170. I'll be taking 2270 in January!!

FAV class this term. clear, concise, relevant, makes you think. lectures are super organized, easy to take way more detailed notes than you need for tests. pick a topic you're into for the essays, you're gonna write a lot about it. DEFINITELY taking another of his courses next term.

Colin is one of the few professors who literally has his door open to you all the time during his office hours. Other professors say they will be holding office hours when in reality there not willing to discuss anything with you. Colin knows his stuff and mixes it well with good humor. It highly recommend his Geog 1130 class.

Colin was one of the most influential lecturers I've ever had. I thought I was going to be a SOCI major but his GEOG 1170 class took me by surprise and changed the way I thought about Geography. I finished the Assoc. Deg at Langara and am about to finish my Geog Ba at SFU. He is still one of the best lecturers I've ever had. Take his class!

The lectures started out really interesting and engaging. After about 7 classes they got pretty boring. He stopped using as many visuals, now he just talks at us for 2 hrs with no break. He's a pretty funny guy though and maybe he just has too much on his plate to commit fully to our class idk the good thing is we got very few assignments.

I loved this class so much! Colin Mills is one of the best teachers you will ever have. He`s funny, interesting, inspiring, and incredibly smart. The class is not an easy A, but it is worth it! Make sure you attend classes(which you`ll want to do anyways), because all of the test material is from his lectures.

His classes were quite boring, 2 hours straight with no breaks, and we hardly got out early. make sure to bring lots of paper! the final was a lot easier than his online quizzes. One in class essay and another take home essay marked fairly. Overall okay prof.

Really interesting teacher, the 2 hour classes just seemed to whizz by. He has a lot to say and it's mostly interesting. You wont find a class with more notes than his class, so bring multiple pens/hands to write with.

Hes super nice and really interested in Urban Geography. He lectures all class and you have to take notes on his lectures no powerpoints so if you miss a class your kinda of screwed. but hes a good teacher and an overall generous marker. i really enjoyed haveing him as a teacher

This teacher is awesome, makes a lot of jokes and have a really good chemistry with the students. Interesting lectures; however, not enough time to finish the online tests. A great prof, this is my second course with Colin. Colin is clear about his expectations and gives students all the resources needed to do well and learn lots. His main resource to students is himself. Missing Colin's classes is detrimental,but Colin does a great job of making students want to be in his class...I will be attending another one soon!

Great teacher. Explains everything in good details and keep it simple "in class". So you think the class is easy BUT, the exams are VERY HARD. He explains everything that sounds so easy but not in the exams. Really really loaded and no breaks for 2 hour lecture

1170 and 1130. Mills is simply one of the best lecturers you'll ever have. Early on he goes full on for two hours straight (with a break), but by midway through the semester he'll be so far ahead he starts ending 45mins early. Little text use. Online Tests. There to help step by step always.Practical and real world examples. Respects his students.

Mills is one of the best profs I've ever had. Mills is very organized and very good at lecturing. He makes what he is talking about interesting and presents it in a way that provokes thought as you listen. Taking strong, thorough notes in class and at least skimming the readings is absolutely essential in doing well on the Unit Tests and Exams. A+

Colin's passion and interest in the course content comes through in his lectures. I never found it hard to stay awake in this class. If you're at all interested in Geography, Urban planning or even poli sci I'd definitely recommend taking his Urban Geography class

Professor Mills is a great teacher that is willing to help you if you need it. The course is content rich, so prepare to write notes for the entire class without a break. The online tests are a bit tricky because there a lot of trivial questions from the textbook. I would definitely recommend this class.

Everything is online, took his 3 hour urban geog class, intense lecture but very clear, helpful, and wants you to pass. Open book test,and exam for part 1.1st year people take him!!!!!!! Failed all his unit test but he stilled passed me for the final exam!!! very passionate prof. Highly recommend him for GEOG

I took this course to fill my schedule but ended up enjoying Colin's lectures and wanted to go to class. Textbooks are essential for the online unit tests, which asked for facts from the actual text. The lowest test score would be dropped. Very clear instructions for midterm and final. Overall a great prof and a fair marker.

If you show up, take notes and listen to what he says you will most likely pass. Test reasonably hard but expected. Lectures and textbook compliment each other but do NOT follow each other. He assigns group projects and an in-class essay. I was recommended to take this course by my mum who took his GEOG1170 course.

Altho lectures are long Colin is an awesome prof, he's always there for office hours. He's very patient with your questions,concerns& gives back great feedback. His class isn't an easy A, but as long as u show up to lectures and take notes! group projects' worth 50% and exams 50% (mid:20, final:30)work hard on the group project he's a picky marker

One of my favourite instructors ever. He's engaging and is always there to help you understand the material. Class activities that related the lectures to the outside world were fun and really helped reinforce the material. Exams with MC had picky little questions but broad essay questions. Overall fair marker and gives good feedback.

Colin is the best prof in Langara. His lectures are AMAZING. He literally changed my goals to pursuing a degree in geography. Attend class and take good notes (classes are super entertaining to attend anyway) to pass. Tests are half open book and half closed book. Colin will always be there if you need help. I loved his class, super interesting lectures! He grades fairly, it's not easy to get 90% or above, but if you pay attention in class, and study a good amount, you'll get a decent mark. He uses prezi's with no info on the slides, so you need to take notes in class. You write so fast until your hand hurts. There is a group project, can be annoying.

Colin is another one of my favourite teachers. He cares for his students. His Lectures are sometimes set up as a discussion which helps with memory. He has weekly quizzes and weekly responses, one small paper and one larger term paper but they are abstract and relate to personal experiences. Pay attention and youll get an A! 10/10 recommend him

Great prof who made me like geography.

Nicest prof ever. This class had 1 online lecture and 1 in person lecture each week. I found the textbook material to be pretty confusing and boring at first, but at the end of the term when I reviewed it made sense. Colin is not a hard marker and as long as you put effort into the class you should get a good mark.

There is a lot of content covered in each class but his lectures are very interesting. Pay attention in class and take good notes if you want to do well on exams.
