I took him in the summer and even in the summer heat of summer school he is the coolest and understanding teacher around, He teaches step by step, on the computer, notes and lectures in class. Everything reviewed including sample test that you can't miss. An A for this Professor and an A you will get at the end of the semester. Enough said.
I think the class was pretty helpful, because people think they have an idea about using MS OFFICE 2003 until they actually take this class, like me. I leaned a lot of cool things. Overal he is a good prof.
Good professor but his projects can be a pain in da butt. Can be strict at times and expects nothing but the best out of you. Good professor to take if you really want to learn your Microsoft Access & HTML.
Whoa! what a semester. Prof. Persaud was taken out from the Army or something LOL he's cool I liked him. He made classes interesting and fun to learn. His project was not hard, but the members I had made it very difficult to follow. I wish him the best. Keep up the good work!
He is a nice professor!~!
THE BEST PROFESSOR. I LEARNED ALOT. I STARTED A NEW JOB AND WAS ABLE TO APPLY ALL THAT I LEARNED IN CLASS ON MY JOB. MY BOSS WAS IMPRESSED AND SAID THAT THEY HAVEN'T BEEN IMPRESSED WITH ANYONE IN A LONG TIME. THANKS A MILLION PROFESSOR PERSAUD. PLEASE DON'T CHANGE A THING. YOUR TEACHING SKILLS ARE AWESOME. WE LEARN, WE APPLY, THANKS TO YOU.!!
For anyone considering taking CIS 325 with Persaud, a word of advice: focus ONLY on the tests. I carried my group on shoulders to a winning project and got a grade of C+ in the end. Why? Evidently, the ability to actually apply learned material in a practical manner doesn't prove comprehension; cramming for a test and then forgetting it all is zen!
Professor Persaud is actually a great professor.I had him year and he gave me an A. All you have to do is attend his class and do your work. I bet you'll get an A.
He is very nice professor. His class was very helpful. He gives a lot of homework, so be prepared to be busy.
Professor I think is the best to take this course with. He had a very good sense of humor, very fare with grading ect. If I could do it again, I would diffinatly choose him to be my professor.
Prof. Persaud is easy to understand and also lenient. If you have any problems he tries his best to work with you. He's a good professor and I highly recommend him. I will even be trying to take him again when I take CIS200.
knows his materials.
great professor!!!!!!
He is very Gud man just like frns. He is very helpful and knows what to teach and how to handle the class.I am glad that i had taken this class with him.
Professor Persuad is a nice guy who takes teaching seriously. The courseload is managable and he explains the material well (even if some of it is pretty boring.) He is always willing to help his students personally. One thing you should know is that he expects his students to adhere to his deadlines & due dates and have good attendance.
Nice, down to earth guy but at times can be a bit anal. He's clear on what to study for the mid-term, final, and project. He really wants you to understand his class. Be respectful, hand in assignments ON TIME, participate in class discussions, and you'll do fine. Definitely recommended for the student who is serious about attending Baruch College.
Nice fair professor. the course itself is boring, I did not learn anything, but u do what u have to do. Prof. tries to make it as interesting as possible. It is not hard, not easy, it is just fair. Students get the grades they deserve by their participation, homework, project and attendance.strict sometimes, study for the test and u will be fine.
The Prof is fair you get what you deserve. He doesn't grade on a curve and doesn't like giving extra credit. Also show up on time and don't pull out you cell phones. Study and you will pass.
He is a fair professor. You follow his instructions, you'll be alright!
Strict but fair is probably what describes him the best. Unfortunately, he didn't know a lot about the subject, but made it as much interesting as he could with handouts from newspapers etc. Since he doesn't know the material, his exams can be a little bit surprising, filled with pointless acronyms and useless stuff. But overall an enjoyable class.
The professor appears like he really doesn't know much about what he's talking about. His exams cover useless things that you would not need to know in the real world. His is super strict with homework, give it a grade over all. He is often very forgetful and irresponsible. I would not want him as professor for CIS200.
really boring, long lectures, doesnt explain things very well just runs through the material .. which by the way is out dated!! .. if you do not already kno about computers and all its functions do not risk taking his class because you will not learn anything!! p.s. HE IS NOT FUNNY!!
wow i had a great experience in his class.I would recommend him to anyone this is an easy A class but remember to study hard!
Dude's cool, a lot of people are scared of him but one you get to know him, he's pretty alright. his grading policies are clear and all you gotta do is basically study the work and review and you should be straight on his exams. i'd recommend him. btw when he asks who's the king of the jungle, reply with "lion" don't gas him up and say it's him lol
I think the class was fairly easy. it was during the summer so we had alot to cover in short time. The professor was very laid back. make sure you read ahead of the class and you will be fine. Be on time for class else you will be marked late. you earn you own grade. never attempt to cheat in his class or plagiarize. very helpful exam easy
This professor really cares for everyone in the class to really learn the material. He tells you to read the textbook and take time to practice the problems in order to understand the logic behind programming. It's easy if you read, just be sure to ask him questions if lost. I recommend this professor to those that are serious about programming.
He's a good professor, he tries to be funny, but sometimes his jokes doesn't really make sense lol. He teaches quite fast, I would not recommended him if you're having difficulties with English. I failed because I procrastinated a lot, but I won't make the mistake twice. I'm retaking the class with the same professor since I changed my work ethics.
Professor Persaud is an Excellent professor who walk you through the steps of java and tries to completely explain programming to all his students. Thank to professor persaud and his teaching method i understand Java better now. Remember to do read the Java book and complete all problems form each chapter to better understand the work.
a lot of project (2), homework(3), case study(3) and you have read all the chapter(about 25) by yoself before the class. the midterm(chapter 1-12) and final exam(chapter 13-21, B6,7,11,12,18,20 and 21) content a lot of information that I can't remember all of it. if you work really hard, you can choose his class.
a lot of project (2), homework(3), case study(3) and you have read all the chapter(about 25) by yourself before the class. the midterm(chapter 1-12) and final exam(chapter 13-21, B6,7,11,12,18,20 and 21) content a lot of information that I can't remember all of it. So basically you have to be a parrot to pass his class. No make ups for anything.
just don't take him, evertime I put up my reason, they delete it, so I will keep it simple don't take him.
He is a little tough, really precise on grades but also gives you extra credits and it's always available to help you in his office hours ! Really helpful and nice professor. Really passionate about his students and makes you work to deserve that A ! He is always up to new ideas so if you have a project in mind don't hesitate to ask :D
Persaud is a great professor. He really cares about his students understanding the material. Be sure to read the book; it is very well written and will guarantee at least a B in the class, assuming you don't get test anxiety. He gives optional homework, but make sure to do those for extra practice. Would definitely take this professor again.
Not helpful at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prof. Persaud tries to help students, but he makes one more confused. He reads from the slides, picks on people, and you will be surprised about the grades you get. You really have to put mind into the work . You will spend hours doing the work and at the same time thinking if your work is worth for a 90+ because barely anyone got an A in the class
Professor Persaud's lectures were so long and boring. I learned a bit from them, but not as much as I wanted. He was not in class for two weeks, due to the reason he suffered an injury on his leg, but when he came back he gave us our project that he barely explained. I wish I would have learned more techniques on access and microsoft.
he is so tough. Sometimes insults those students who he doesn't like. in his class you will not learn anything if you dont read the book. for first step in programming he is not helpful. he will make qus easy in exam 1 and 2. but in final the worst and tough qus. So think before take his class.
Great Prof!!!
Prof. Persaud was one of the few professors I struggled at Bmcc. He's very passionate about what he teaches, but you really have to understand from the beginning his material and assignments. He assigned three case studies which was so hard to guess what he wanted us to write since no instructions were given. Tests are easy if you prepare early.
He is really precise on grading and the instructions he gives. He is available at his office hours and you can also reach him in his e-mail for assistance. He is quite fast when lecturing but he provides the PP slides online. He's pretty clear on what's going to be on tests. The least grade you'll get is a B if you do what is expected of you.
He moves really fast, practically rushes through everything. Don't bother raising your hand to ask questions, you won't get a straightforward answer. He also tries too hard to be interesting and relatable by making inside jokes, or bringing up sports or technology. No one really knows what he's talking about half the time. Smile and nod.
I love taking his class on spring2016. He really want his student to get good grades. The way of teaching is excellent. You must complete all assignment and review his exam samples to get A in the class. If you put some effort then you will obviously get A in the class.
I took his in Summer 2016. He is an amazing professor and if you do not understand he explains to you right away. He cares that you learn what you need to know, If you are a lazy person so do not take his class.
Professor Colin is good. His lectures are monotone, however if you do the work you will get your grade. His exams are straightforward, he gives a clear study guide, just study and get your A. He doesn't like cellphones because he wants his students to follow the lectures. I would take him again. He gives a homework once a week and extra credit!
Great prof, made learning programming easy. He asks the class whether the homework is too much, and make it optional or lessen it if we all agreed. He gave homework in advance, so that you have a week to complete it, and feel less pressured. If you do homework you should be fine. The attendance is lenient, as long as you talk to him. recommended!
Professor P is an old school no nonsense kind of teacher. You are expected to come to class, read the chapters, put the phone away & do the hw - ALOT! You won't be babied so you need to know the fundamentals. This scares many ppl but he has your best interest at heart. He is sarcastic but genuine too(think cookies)! Often references LeBron too!
Java II is a difficult and with this professor it was even harder. I wish he would give us more time to do the problems in class instead of just standing and lecturing. He gives a lot of hw and every week there are problems to be graded. His tests are like the review. He is a fair grader. He tries to be funny but is not. Stick to your coding prof
If you want to learn programming he is the best. He breaks the problem and make it so easy to understand. He is awesome.
Tough grader!! He doesn't care about his students. So rude!! Don't understand the situation. Stay away from him!!!
Definitely makes you work for your grade. A lot of group work so your partner can either make you or break you.
Stay away from him. His class is the only one that I had to struggle in BMCC. Don't recommend.... take him, if you want to messed up you GPA and time.
Ok, Prof. Colin IS THE BEST PROF EVER! He is super super nice! He explains things very well! He always walk us through the homework and make sure that everyone understand it. He is very very good at keeping students engaged in class! There is one thing though, he tries to be funny to keep the class interesting, many dad jokes hahaha
I took Professor Persaud and without a doubt the best professor at BMCC! He was an amazing lecturer, was always willing to answer any question's and genuinely wanted us ( the girls in the class) to feel empowered to become developers. That being said you have to work for an A, make sure you read your textbook and come prepared! He is a diamond! CG
He has a grading criteria that he doesn't understand. He gives you test study guide and the day of the exam he adds things that it was not on the study guides. He forgets to grades projects and homework after he said it was supposed to be graded. He does not allow explanations on the test that comes from you, but it has to be from the textbook.
The worst
Amazing. Persaud is just awesome. At first you'll be shocked by his attitude that seems to be rude or disrespectful, then you'll get used to it and find out he's just the sweetest guy ever. I truly enjoyed his class, he cares about your learning and understanding process.
Honestly, he tries to make the class interesting, makes jokes but isn't funny. He tries. The class is what you make of it, DO all the assignments and attend class EARLY. 3 exams and a Final. 1 Huge group of(2) project. He's okay. But he does repeat and explains excel, access & etc will repeat steps if necessary. You'll be okay if you take him.
A guy with attitude. Overall, didn't like him or his class. But he can teach you Java.
Submitted hw 1 hr after due, brought him a note that i had surgery on that day, he said "it's not like you broke a leg or smth.." and took off 20 POINTS for late submission. Rude, makes jokes about cancer. I got A, but had to study all topics by heart to pass his exams, which have extra credit, which is his only fair approach.
very hard grader and always has a attitude. He gives a lot of homework and the review sheet for the tests is not related to the actually test.
Professor Persaud is the best professor that I had so far in college, he is an engaging professor he cares about his students and try to give as much examples as possible so that you can understand the topics. It is true that he gives a lot of homework and that you will have to spent time on it but that's really how you learn. Great professor!!!
He gives us handout to review the midterm, but is nothing the same. i dont know the handout for what???? want to us to fial and drop his class OMG, NO ONE get over90 ,only three classmate get over 80!!!!!!!!!!! HE IS A GRADE KILLER!!!!!!!
Pro tip: read the book. Seriously, read it. Don't expect the sample mid/final questions to be in the actual exams. He's a genuinely good professor, who can teach you programming well. You might not ace the course (for whatever reasons), but you will learn the language for sure. I recommend! :)
Pursad is a professor i would not recommend even during the pandemic, when classes were made online he makes it even more difficult to do the work. Expect no backtracking of test online, Avoid this man at all cost, better to get another professor. BMCC selection of professor is very little when it comes to CSC classes which must be changed
Disgusting attitude, disrespectful, too funny
If you think you are already a java expert, you can pick him. He did teach you from the basis, which is only thing i could appreciate. Tough grader, and try any chances to prevent you getting higher grade. Just ruined my perfect GPA to tranfer to SUNY.
Worst professor I have ever had. In multiple occasions the homework's instruction were not clear, sometimes his sample answers were incorrect. Even his answers to the final were incorrect. He is extremely disrespectful, and not considerate of student's difficulties, even during the pandemic. The class is not hard, but he makes you struggle. Skip him
he does not lecture; all he does is post youtube videos and expect you to understand everything then complete the assignments. He is not willing to help outside his office hours . He will always find something wrong in your assignments to take a few points out. extremely rude and not empathic at all, even during this pandemic. the worst avoid him
His energy is so bitter and mean. He has no soft skills, whatsoever. How did this man ever work on a dev team? Have some compassion and humanity even during these times. His homeworks are easy. But he makes things extra hard on the exam unreasonably.
Not a great professor, guy just reads out of the zybook the entire class and when he assigns a test half of it is stuff not in the zybook/we never spoke about. Also a really hard grader for no reason. The whole class felt like he doesn't really know what hes doing, all throughout hes making awful jokes in this monotone voice please just stop.
He is so nasty to students. Take someone else, seriously! or get a CUNY e-permit.
Worst Professor I have ever encountered. He's very rude. He scolds students for the smallest things. He expects you to remember everything from CSC 110 right from the start. He goes too fast during the lectures and expects you to understand everything right away, and then complains when students don't understand the material. Avoid him at all costs
tough grading has bad energy no motivation at all. His class gets really hard at the end both his midterm and final have stuff that was not taught.
It has been 7 years since I took his class. He still gives me nightmares. The worst of the worst! He teaches well but he is extremely partial when it comes to grading. If you can create a good impression within the first 2 classes then it will last until the end otherwise you will never make it on his list.
I wasn't going to choose his class after saw his lower rate, but there is no other option for the semester. Although the class was online, it was difficult and he gives a lot of homework. No extra credit. He responses to your email politely, that's it. Better to choose another professor unless you are very good at any Office Software and got a bun
Doesnt teach the material. The online textbook has nothing to do with his assignments. He doesnt create slides, videos, or anything to teach to the class. He only drops a short YouTube video, writes vague/confusing and unclear instructions, then grades harshly. Worst online professor Ive ever had at BMCC and Im about to graduate.
He only provides short YouTube videos that are vaguely related to the homework but won't be helpful. A lot of professors that teach t asynchronously create slides or make their own videos but he doesn't. He gives very vague instructions, and makes mistakes but when we follow his wrong instructions he takes points off even tho its his fault.
Run for your life. this professor has proven to be difficult for no obvious reason. He is impolite in his communication, not clear in his instructions, simply does not care about students takes off point for petty reasons. On many occasions he makes several mistakes in instructions for our assignments but he does not forgive basic mistakes.
Genuinely a nice and caring professor, harsh late homework policy but I found the homework to be essential in learning and practicing the material so I understand why he really wants us to do it.
This professor expects students to already know what to do instead of helping them understand it better if they're lost or not sure. AVOID TAKING HIM AT ALL COST!!! He doesn't communicate properly and also have a harsh grading policy. One little mistake will make your grade drop.
Three letters RUN. The instructions were vague and the materials provided were vague.
He is so picky. He would be better if he was not so picky with the discussion board. Has to many excel. Doesn't give extra credit. He gave us a access project and a presentation on PowerPoint showing your face all in one week plus case study. Also you have to do it with a partner you can't do it alone. Your grades depend on you and your partner.
Took the class today and the professor gave me a sample exam, 6 multiple choice and the 85% were questions that you have to answer the questions in coding, Handwritten. His volume is super low so you can barely understand what he says, Grading policy is bizarre, and people told me to avoid him at all costs, I shouldve listen smh.
Extremely hard. Go into this class as if you would for a coding interview. Needs to know how to code on the spot. Exam consists mostly of coding questions where you must write the code out.
The class was very "Read the textbook." which is online. Despite it being online, and barely anyone participating, he still gave a group project. Exams were full of information from textbooks. Take him if you don't want to learn and enjoy an A.
The professor is very caring. if you are ready to learn this class is for you, he is one of the few professors who share good information about internships or job advice, and he listens to students. I learned valuable information from him.
great professor. one group project. and four absents excused. clear hw assignments and replies to emails quick. show up and show that you are eager to learn and professor will notice.
Ignore the bad reviews on Mr. Persaud. He's super chill, makes the lectures pretty interesting. Homeworks and exams are super simple as long as you pay attention. Don't come here if you're not interested in learning
Professor Persaud is a great professor. He was very professional and helpful. He will do all his best to assist you as long as you want to learn and do the required work. Also, be ready to do a lot of homework if you want to have a good grade.
He possesses a small-minded demeanor, constantly seeking reasons to deduct points from your work. There are no opportunities for extra credits or permission to revise. He deducts points for trivial and absurd reasons. Moreover, he exhibits arrogance and enjoys asserting his power. Overall, he's a petty little person. I hope you read this, Colin.
He is very stingy about grades and only looks for excuses to deduct. Stay away from his class please. I was on the Dean's list last semester with seven classes. Yes this professor destroyed my GPA with this one class. I'm just glad I'm done with him. peace Sad man
You can do an assignment correctly and he will always find something to take points away. Is proud of failing people/giving good grades. Grades on things that arent in the syllabus or rubric. Does not reply to emails but when he does he is very condesencing.
It's so sad that the future of some very intelligent and bright students are in the hands of incompetent so called Professors like this man child.
I had it as a summer course and it was super hard but he was still lenient in some things as long as he saw that you were trying
Gave a lot of work and claimed that because the majority of the class was passing he felt his assignments were too easy.
Professor Colin really has a good knowledge in what he's teaching, he is professional! I learned a lot from him in CSC210. I see that he has the eager to teach, he wants us to learn and be successful in programming. He's also very lenient in grading. Anyway, I enjoyed his class the entire time!
If you're the kond of person who can't make it to class at 9AM in the morning for any reason it might be, this professor isn't worth it for you. For me personally I would never take him again. Also if someone who's his supercisor or manager, please let him know that he shall try to make himself understandable of peNot everyone has the same battles
Persuad employs an old-school teaching style where he has you complete the work first before he provides his input. The class consists of 10HW,1 proj, a midterm, finals, and evaluations, so active participation is essential. Cons: The class starts early at 9 AM, and punctuality is strictly enforced. Arriving even a minute late, can mess you up
He gave a lot of work and he'll brag about his assignments being too easy.He is very passive-aggressive and would always make jokes about wanting to make women comfortable, since the majority of the class are guysYou can do an assignment correctly and he will always find something to take points away. he brags of failing people/giving good grades.
If you are looking into taking Persaud for ur professor's make sure the homework he assigned is up to his standards because you can have the right answers to the homework and he will still deduct points from it just because it's not in the right format, he also do not answer emails on time either so good luck, very strict with attendance very!!!
Only ended up doing one class for this semester and it was like a straight up nightmare, the syllabus was very terrible too which led me to switching professors. Some of the exams would be on paper instead of computer which is weird, and he has a weird no phone policy + is very strict with arrival time. do not take. He also calls on people randomly
Professor Persaud runs a tough class, but unstuck ai and the free textbook can help you get through it. Stay engaged and you'll learn a lot, even if the grading is a bit harsh.
dont take him.
good prof with a good heart
Avoid this professor at all costs. Total GPA killer. Walk in one minute late? You're marked late. Shows zero respect for students and lectures like he's reading from a script he doesn't understand. You'll be fighting sleep every class. Forces you to buy a $50 online notebook you lose access to after the semester. Absolute waste of time
Persaud is a horrible person. I had him for the Spring 2023 semester, I felt offended by his work and didn't do great in most parts of the semester. I should have dropped him, but I tell myself to finish it before the end and then don't have to worry much about the donkey who teaches the course
This is my second class and everything is so weird. He don't teach anything properly. He have one assistant and She is so rude. she was tell me where to sit. I feel terrible at this class. I wish I can drop off. When anyone ask him anything he don't explain properly. we are only 13 at this class but still no improvement.
