excellent teacher, excellent clarity, excellent notes. seems like an incredibly interesting man. makes the class enjoyable, and has a very unique voice which is easy to listen to. amazing style, and generally just a very beautiful person.

He's very enthusiastic and extremely friendly, but he stresses clarity in essays over substantative content, which allows inroductory students to learn how to properly write an analtic paper, sometimes goes over subject matter insufficiently in-depth.

If you stay for the entire class it's a most definite pass. He is very helpful and is very good at explaining complex concepts. If you need help ask and participation in class discussions is key. Papers are relatively easy if you pay attention. Overall he's awesome!

Took a 2nd year class with professor Ruloff. My advice: check the syllabus in the first class and see if you are willing to put in the work. Colin is a great guy, but he expects A LOT from you: tests every few weeks and essays too! There is A LOT of memorization for exams, and difficult essays on top of that. You have been warned!

4210 is a seminar class which is the second one I have taken with Colin and looked forward to class every week. I would recommend taking this class or any upper level phil course with Colin as provides students with more than enough material, always there to help, explains topics clearly and makes class fun. Ruloff is a really great instructor. Attendance is mandatory as parts of the quiz are directly from examples from class. 4 quiz's and 2 papers. Textbook isn't needed and he tells you as much. All readings can be found online but if you attend class, no need to read them. Class is kinda dry but Ruloff tries his hardest to make it interesting

Colin is a great guy. He summarizes the content of an entire chapter onto one small page. Attend class, participate in the lecture and you're guaranteed and A. Recent Phil grad. I had quite a few courses with Dr. Ruloff years ago. Take a course with him! Even if you are not a philosophy major, you will enjoy his classes. He is simply the best philosophy instructor I've come across (both in Kwantlen and UBC). His material is very clear though challenging at times. You must be ready to work.

Colin is definitely one of the raddest profs you'll ever have. His teaching is straightforward, he's super chill, and he's always happy to help you out. He didn't have any midterms or a final, just a series of small tests on one or two chapters which were fully covered in class. Awesome guy. Highly recommend!

Colin is definitely one of the best professors I've had. I have learnt very much in his classes. What I've learnt helped me get into graduate school. I actually used an essay I wrote in his class as the writing sample for my applications. Thanks to his comments I was able to refine this essay which impressed the schools which accepted me.

After a year of courses, Ruloff is by far the best. His classes are highly entertaining and with his lecture style it is easy to follow the complex material. On top of his awesome personality, the workload was great - not too much, but enough to really learn the stuff. I can't recommend this guy enough!

Took the course online during COVID. 4 tests (mostly true and false) and a short essay were the cumulation of the marks, but that's not to say they were easy, as the material can be challenging. Colin made the material fun, down to earth, and engaging. It was a refreshing experience to learn from him. 10/10 would take a class from him again.

PHILL1145 is not easy. It is a dry, boring course, but Colin made everything bearable. He is very enthusiastic when teaching his lecture, funny and a straight forward professor. There are no tricks to his course. You have to watch the lessons and take really good notes. It's as simple as that, but you have to put in the effort and not procrastinate

I took Phil 1145 with Ruloff online which isn't an easy course however, Ruloff made the criteria super straightforward. The material can be dry but he made the lectures that are pre-recorded engaging and easy to follow. There is no assignments or projects only 5 exams which are NON-CUMULATIVE. If you have the chance to take him do yourself a favour

Professor is very nice

The class was a little boring online, but the online tests made up for it. The class is easy if you keep up with lectures. Professor responds to emails fairly quickly, and you have a 12-hour period to complete the tests. Highly recommend this course, it is taught well.

No textbook, no graded coursework outside of class time, and tests were straight forward around 25 questions. Grades were determined by four main tests one small quiz.

Honestly, Colin is amazing and funny too. This class was fully online and asynchronous and although the content might be boring to some (I found it interesting), his humour makes the content fun.

Only graded on 5 very easy quizzes in the whole semester. not only increased GPA, but understand all concepts, learned how to apply and build with future courses.
